I am very pleased that I get to write review #100 about a tasty Indian restaurant! I love Indian food. Yay! I visited Mayuri for lunch today. As I'm not a buffet fan, I went in hoping to order off the menu. I was very encouraged by the high percentage of the clientele who appeared to be of Indian descent (the woman at the table next to us was wearing a turquoise sari--very pretty). Always a good sign! The restaurant was super busy. Packed, even. We were seated almost immediately, but then ignored for at least a solid 5-10 minutes, despite trying to catch the attention of all of the waiters who came anywhere close to us. (Granted, most people wouldn't have needed the waiters' attention right away since it was lunch buffet time. Also, it was very busy, so this is *somewhat* understandable.) Finally we got a waiter to bring us a menu, and ordered some chai. They brought out one chai (not two) maybe 5-10 minutes later... But when we corrected them, the second one followed quickly. (Note: this does not seem to be a free-chai-refills kind of place.) Lapses in service aside (we also had a bit of trouble flagging someone down at the end of the meal for the check....), the food was delicious. We had the veggie samosas to start with, which were spicy and flavorful and excellent, and then I had the malai kofta (which was pretty good--the sauce was quite flavorful, but the koftas themselves were a little dry... Might not be the norm, though; I will try again at dinner time sometime) and my boyfriend had the paneer "kabob," I think (in quotations because it didn't actually come out on a stick), which was very flavorful and delicious. Yum yum yum! We also had the naan with the dried fruits inside--Kabuli naan? I'm not sure. It was also delicious, in any event--flavored with some cardamom, I think. I love cardamom. So, the moral of the story: you can order off the menu even during the lunch buffet, but good luck with the service on a weekend at lunchtime. Tasty food. Maybe better at dinner time? I will have to experiment at a later date. This is definitely better quality Indian food than I have yet experienced in Seattle--everything was very flavorful/packed with spices, as Indian food should be. Yay!

great Indian food, very reasonable pricing for the lunch buffet $10, dine in or take out! chicken tandoori was very tender and the butter chicken was flavorful . naan was soft and great bite texture. owner is very nice also!

We had the full dinner menu. 6 dish-platter for $15, plus dessert. The Lamb Bargon Josh was great, Tikka Masala as well. Spicy, very flavorful foods without being too heavy. Everything was very fresh, the naan was plentiful, and the servers were attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back with more friends.

Another fantastic Indian experience on the east side! We went to Mayuri during lunch and enjoyed their buffet. The eggplant and potato dish was super spicy. There were lots of different flavors in the different dishes from sweet to savory. If I am ever in Bellevue/Redmond at night, I would love to go back.

I've lived in Seattle for about four years, and only have been here twice and am regretting that. I was there last week and opted for the Andhra Dosa. I was surprised at how non-oily their dosa was in comparison to other places I've been to like Spice Route. My friends enjoyed their selections too - the Chettinad Vegetables. Now the damper on all the good work with the food - they have on their menu a 'Madras' coffee. They could have used a lot of adjectives to describe the coffee, but they chose 'Madras' and for any serious South Indian, that evokes a lot of memories and tastes none of which were satisfied by what they served. Firstly, it gets served in a glass that is fit for an ice cream sundae. Secondly, just in case you are wondering if they use instant coffee mix or the real thing a.k.a. a decoction from coffee bean (refer en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In… ), they created this layer of froth on top and placed some instant coffee powder. Lastly, the coffee served reminded me of the stuff my mom made for me when I was 12 years old and was considered too young to be a coffee drinker - it was milky and sweet with a touch of coffee flavor. What a waste of milk, coffee powder and $3. As much as I hated the coffee, I have to admit the food was good and I'd return for the food. If I ever order the 'Madras' coffee again from there, I will do fellow yelpers a favor and shoot myself.

Came here 4 co-workers after a work meeting. 3 were Indian virgins but wanted to try Indian food. We suggested that they try the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken (all very safe bets for virgins). In addition, we ordered lamb samosas and veg samosas, chicken pakora and veg pakora, naan, garlic naan and paratha to share. I ALWAYS get Paneer Tikka Masala and the other girl got her favorite - lamb with spinach. We all agree that it was a very good experience and were so glad we came here instead of Red Robin (really) Very friendly service. Would come back if I'm in the area.

I've gone here a number of times for the lunch buffet and the food has always been great. The place is clean and the restaurant has a lovely ambiance. The only drawback is the long line of people if you arrive after 12:00...

Good Indian food. The service was good too. The decorations were nice and it appears to be a popular place which also implies a lot of people like the food. Prices were a bit less than the nearby Taj Palace. Overall would go back.

I was really surprised to read the negative reviews. We have NEVER gotten sick after eating here. Our extended family has been coming here for years and we have never had anything other than EXCELLENT food and great service, even during the busy lunch buffet period. The buffet is incredible and offers excellent value. The restaurant is warm and comfortable, with great decor and a nice evening ambience. The a la carte menu is extensive - something for everyone and lots for vegetarians too. We have tried other Seattle are Indian restaurants and none of them come close to Mayuri. We are die-hard fans and will continue to patronize this excellent restaurant.

My husband and I have been trying to locate a good Indian restaurant since moving to Seattle 2 years ago and have visited Saffron several times and the Naan kepts bringing us back -- the Naan at Saffron is delicious, but the food is lackluster; the food at Mayuri was very tasty, and good Naan, but not as good as Saffron. Mayuri has delicious mango chutney. On the negative side, if I would have been with the health department -- I would have stood up from our booth and taken action. My husband and I enjoyed our lunch, on a quiet Sunday evening at this restaurant. They were fairly busy with to-go orders and two other booths were occupied. After finishing our meal, my husband went to the men's room and I had "time" to view the staff here and how they were eating/drinkingn the job - not with silverware, but with their fingers touching their lips/mouths, touching their hair, rubbing their noses, then touching plates, THEN WITHOUT WASHING HANDS serving meals! I noticed a cook with gloves on coming from the kitchen to fill a glass with cola taking a drink and continuing back into the kitchen with an open container -- this is a big no-no when working in the food industry. Cross-contamination at its best and finest. The meal we had was nicely prepared and presented, but not sure we would go back until I could be certain they are following health code. Slow and unconcerned service overall, except for the hostess who initially seated us.

A bit disappointing. They gave us the incorrect food, so we missed out on the tikka masala, and the butter chicken we received was very meh. If there were not so many great Indian restaurants within driving distance, I would probably give it three stars, but there are just better options close by.

I first tried this place because the neighboring Can-Am was closed, and left happy that we found another great place to eat. As a disclaimer, I'm a noob when it comes to Indian food. If you are like me, you probably like chicken tikka masala, and it's delicious here. You may also like the opportunity to do some safe experimentation with other dishes at lunchtime buffets, and theirs is great! The prices are also SUPER reasonable: ~$11 for their weekend lunch buffet and also ~$11 for the chicken TM and rice. Of course, once you add naan and veggies to the side, it starts adding up, but it's still very much on the side of affordable. For about $4 more you upgrade your entree to "thali dinner" which adds four sides of raita (which I interpreted as Indian yogurty coleslaw), vegetable curry, dal, and spicy sambar soup, as well as their choice of dessert. The sides are very small but adds quite an extra oomph that took me from full to really full. I've also had the chicken chetynadu which was tongue-tingly spicy in a pleasant way, but got total envy when the table over got stuff on a sizzling platter. I look forward to returning!

I was in for dinner last week. It was a Tuesday, and the place was packed. No surprise. The food was FANTASTIC. Service and ambiance have not really changed over the years, but I swear the food has gotten better. Paneer Manchuria? Yummmmmm....spicy heaven. We have been eating here for 7+ years, and the disappointments have been few.

How I heard of this place: A good friend, who, once upon a time lived in India recommended it as her family's favorite Indian food in the area, specializing in both North and South Indian cuisine. It quickly became my favorite, as well! Type of cuisine: "Mayuri Indian Cuisine offers a wide choice of traditional Indian dishes. We prepare all our dishes fresh in the same tradition way that has made the North and South Indian cuisine famous and popular. Our cooking methods are a careful combination of grilling, baking and smoking to create a unique Tandoori flavor." Ambiance: Set in a typical, suburban, one-story strip mall, Mayuri's odd location is anything but once you enter the glass doors. With Indian statues, artwork and symbolism throughout the cozy and warm space, the darkened interior pairs well with the dark, wooden pillars and tables, bursts of color to lighten the mood. What I ordered: Hungry as we were, we started with the Lollipop Chicken ($9): chicken drummettes marinated in spices and deep-fried. As is often the case, I selected the Thali Dinner plate with Butter Chicken, raita, lentil daal, spicy vegetable soup, and vegetables in tomato sauce, and is the best combination plate on the eastside! For dessert (included in the price), a generous serving of Vermicelli Pudding, a mouth-watering vermicelli pudding made with thick milk & laced with grated pistachios. On other occasions, when less is proven to be more, I opt for a simple Butter Chicken ($12) - they do make the best - chicken cooked in a butter sauce. My husband often chooses the spicier version with the Chicken Tikka Masala ($12) for cubes of chicken breast cooked in creamy spiced tomato sauce. An order or two of garlic and traditional naan ($ each), one Mango Lassi ($), a traditional Indian drink made with homemade yogurt, milk, and rosewater and flavored with mango, and our dinner was complete. What I loved: Butter Chicken. Chicken Tikka Masala. Any curry Mayrui makes. Why I loved it: A perfect end to a perfect day, with a warm, comforting, completely satisfying meal. Cost: Low to average ($12 per chicken curry, includes rice)

This restaurant SUCKS !!!! Thrice I had been to this place, always placing a biryani togo: - Twice I received my order after waiting for 45-50 mins. - Twice, when returned home and opened the package, all I got was rice and some curry mixed.. - The customer service sucks as well. Never going to this place again !!!! THere is no way to give negative rating. Thats why giving 1. Please dont mis understand.

Very spice low quality chaats... Don't waste your time and money here... They just sprinkle raw spices in their chaats

Best indian food I've had in the Seattle area. W went there with our two small children (they have high chairs and booster seats). The staff were very friendly. I asked about the spice level on a couple dishes for the kids to share. The food came out quickly and the spice levels were as promised. The gobi manchurian was very spicy and delicious. We also had onion kulcha, dal, paneer tiki masala, and chana. It was quite a feast.

I love Biriyani. It's very authentic style. It's south Indian small town Nellore style. Thank you Mayuri.

I was so so disappointed by the food here. Being an avid lover of Indian food, I was looking forward to the buffet here after reading the reviews but was let down from the minute I walked in. The buffet size and quality is so much worse than "Spice Route" that I kept regretting picking Mayuri for lunch. The food was very average and nothing to remember. The famous butter chicken was just plain bad, I have had so much better. The pakoras were bland and tasteless. The tandoori chicken was all food color and no flavor. The dosas kept running out and the chutneys and sambar with them were very mediocre. Over all everything was just mediocre and not worth the hype or price. The only real saving grace were the desserts. The kheer was sweet and rich as it should be, the gulab jamuns were fresh and delicious and the mango based fruit custard was super amazing. Honestly I don't think I'd go back here since Spice Route nearby is so much better.

It's very hard to find good Indian restaurants in the US. But Seattle has a few & Mayuri is definitely one of the best (Moksha, Bellevue is also good). - Their lunch buffet has a lot of good options. - Both their veg & non veg dishes are equally good. - I love their tandoori chicken, butter chicken, daal, sweets & all south Indian dishes. - Service & cleanliness could improve a little bit though. One of the major issues with Indian restaurants in the US is consistency. When they start out, they are quite good, but slowly the quality degrades & it feels like the chef is just getting lazier by the week. I've been eating at Mayuri for over a year now & have never faced that issue. Good tasting, flavorful, quality food always. I'm definitely a fan & would highly recommend it to everyone.

Food taste is better than some South Indian cuisines in Redmond/Bellevue, but customer service is not good. I called to ask if they have "Podi dosa" and the response from the woman (who usually picks the phone) said in a rude way, "What is that?" as if she has never heard of it. Then I have to explain what a plain dosa (switched to plain dosa as they don't know what a podi dosa is) is, as she couldn't understand that as well. On a couple of occasions, I have ordered something and got something which I find only after reaching home.

Have been here quite a few times and frankly I've never been 'wowed'. The food is decent and deserves 3 stars but the service definitely merits one star. Our last experience was particularly awful. We ordered idli and waited over 20 minutes. No idli. We asked our server if there was any reason for the delay and instead of apologizing she instead proceeded to chide us for not mentioning that we wanted it as an appetizer. Hello, if you list 'idli' under APPETIZERS in your menu, why would anyone need to explicitly mention it to you?!? The idlis actually ended up arriving after all the other food, so her excuse didn't make much sense anyway. I don't mean to be nit-picky but if you're in the restaurant business, courtesy isn't an option.

Okay, people, take a step back. This is not as epic as the reviews suggest. Mayuri suffers from what most places here suffer from. An inability to be consistent. There are occasions when I have had decent food here and there are occasions when I have had mediocre food and occasions when I have had terrible food [as to why I continue to go here - well, they have a buffet, it's more of taking a path of least resistance when getting 8 people together]. I've found that food quality depends directly on how busy they are and the drop off in quality and taste is exponential with the rise in crowd. Do not come here on a Friday evening and expect prompt service. On the other hand, a dosa on a Saturday afternoon, say at 3 will actually surprise you and leave you satisfied. tl;dr: Go here only if there isn't much else to go to. Oh and they have the WORST paneer tikka ever. Do not ever order that.

I always had take out here as it is very near to my room. Food is nice but not 100% authentic. Indo-American style. Good to go in groups. If u don't like Indian style spicy, tell them mild they will take care.

I think last time I must have caught them on a bad day... My favorite Indian place used I be down the street but the former owner sold it and it reopened as a new restaurant. I tried the new restaurant, but bleh! That is why I gave Mayuri another chance. And I'm glad I did! I came at the tail end of their lunch buffet and everything was still hot and fresh. Everything I tried was delicious and the naan was soft and tasty, even though it didn't look very fresh. Nothing was outstanding, but all of it was better than many restaurants in the area. Note: I didn't try the tandoori chicken, so no updates on that.

I now use them as a regular spot for a few different items: sambar, butter chicken, and lamb korma and their lunch buffet. My first visit here didn't start out too well but I'm glad I returned. On my first visit, we got a few masala dosas but when we got home, realized they forgot the masala. We called, they apologized and since we didn't want to return to get the masala filling, they offered us credit the next time we returned. Now, the dosa was ok (Ruchi's dosas are better) but the sambar that came with it was AMAZING. No one has been able to beat their flavor (except for my aunt's homemade sambar). We did return (with an Entertainment BOGO coupon at first) and eventually tried a bunch of their dishes and learned our faves. We love the lamb korma but not the lamb curry. The meat is perfectly cooked in both but the curry sauce is a bit too tomatoey while the korma sauce is rich and heavenly (update - they changed chefs and it's not quite the same anymore - 3 stars). I like India Gate's lamb curry better. As for chicken, both their butter chicken and their chicken tikka curries are delish and better than any others in town (update - maybe it's just this visit but the butter chicken sauce was VERY thin). The portions are decent - we always get takeout and order 2 meat curries (and i make up some naan at home) and that's enough for 2 adults, a toddler and left overs for 1 adult the next day. I loved the fact that it was right next to Trader Joes bc I could order, go shop and return to pick up dinner. Now TJ's has moved so there's not much to do in the complex as you wait for your order - so, call ahead for takeout bc at times it can take 25 min to get your food. Also, Diana is amazing - she knows my kids name even. Overall, yum!

First off, they give you this awesome plate with different compartments for everything. It's like a little kids' preschool lunch plate except instead of filling it with cheerios and mac 'n' cheese, I filled it with raita, curried vegetables, spinach pakoras, dal, chana masala, creamy paneer goodness and warm flaky naan. And I even went back for seconds. It was a big plate. I had two. Needless to say, I wasn't in the mood for dinner that night. But no matter! It was worth every bite. I highly recommend their lunch buffet. In fact, I'll probably be back there soon myself.

Their chicken lollilop is quite good. I used to visit this restaurant for their Mutton biryani...but off late, it's not as great. They seem to have lost the authentic taste. They have mutton and goat biryanis: which taste different. From what I recall, neither of them were great nor bad tasting. So I would go with either :-)

  • Myra S.

I have mixed feelings about our experience at this restaurant. I like it that they label what is gluten-free and what dishes contain nuts. I haven't seen that in many places, so that's definitely a plus. The flavors were great. On the other hand no complimentary papadums, not a big deal, but not what I'm used to while eating at an Indian restaurant. The tomato soup was delicious. The Mulligawtany soup was too spicy. The vegetable Samosas were spicier then what you usually get at other restaurants, but were tasty. However, their frying oil should be replaced. The Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious, but the sauce was a little on the thin side. The Aloo Gobi was delicious too, but swimming in oil. The Naan was great. The portions were good too. The Mango kulfi was delicious, and decorated very nicely, the kulfi itself wasn't homemade. All in all not too bad, but what was weird is that they automatically charged gratuities on to the bill, even though we are 2 adults with 3 children 9 and under. That was a first and left us with a weird impression. We would pay gratuity anyway. I can understand that you do that automatically to a large group. A bit weird.

Hands down the best Indian restaurant in the East Side. This is our go-to Indian restaurant and we've been there almost every other weekend for the last 2 years. They have an amazing combination of both South and North Indian dishes; and they happen to be one of the very few South Indian restaurants in the neighborhood. Highly recommend the Gobi Manchurian and the Mysore Masala Dosa.

Food is just ok not over the top.Service is fine.I just don't get the whole hoopla around it.We have had couple of disappointing experiences, when the food came in really late, was not cooked completely , we were vying for attention just to get a glass of water. The only thing , I like is the ambience.

Now this place has a good buffet. Great flavors. Great service. And there's actually meat in the chicken and lamb curries! Can't wait until we can get back over there. The only reason for the four stars is because I don't care for their menu items as much as the buffet. I found the chicken biryani rather lacking and dry.

I had the veggie biryani, veggie fried rice, masala dosa combo and the egg biryani over the past week. I just love the Biryani and the way the make it here. The Fried Rice was good too. The Sambhar is tasty and is a south indian style sambhar which I again love. Absolutely recommend this place.

WHY haven't I written a review on this place yet? I'm kicking myself for not doing this sooner. Ok, so I detest veggies! I'll literally spend 30 mins picking them out of my food. I'm sure you know where this is heading... but let me tell you anyway: I eat all the veggie dish (I have a great meme for this expression, too bad i can't insert it here) at Mayuri! Surprise! From the okra, eggplants, to mushrooms, the flavors are very complex and everything is perfectly cooked. The meats are tender, and all dishes extremely flavorful. Unlike other reviewers, I have yet to (knock on wood) get sick or saw any unsanitary behavior at this restaurant. I highly recommend attending the lunch buffet though so that you can sample many selections. The dinner menu isn't the same. End your meal with a bowl, or in my case, three bowls of the delicious fruit custard. It's to die for! They need to package this and have Trader Joe's next door sell them....annnnd give me a percentage for coming up with such a great idea!

It would be biased of me to say I'm okay with this restaurant because I've only truly been here twice in the last four years. However, there is also a reason. I was on an Indian cuisine eating spree when I first moved to Washington and Mayuri did not strike me as on of the best. I had buffet the first time and I didn't particularly enjoy the curry or dishes they had out that day. Perhaps too much good Indian food in Seattle? Four years later, my friend and I ordered from their dinner menu. I am usually adventurous and like to try new things, but not having had chicken tikki masala in a while, I ordered that and it was very satisfactory. Chicken was tender, spice level was good, and the portion wasn't overwhelming. Granted there were many other side dishes, my friend's lamb curry, garlic naan, tandoori roti, and dessert, it was all a fulfilling meal for us. Service was good and they were very accommodating in replacing our dessert with another option of our choice. They did make a mistake and bring us a different dessert, but they quickly caught on and changed it immediately. Perhaps I need to try it again in a few more months and make a final decision. For now, I keep with my 3 stars.

Get the mixed grill or chicken kabob with rice and douse it in their magnificent "butter sauce", which is a perfect blend of butter cream and tomato. The decor, clientele, staff and menu are all very authentic. I figured this was a safe bet with four stars and being so close to Microsoft.

  • Chris L.

If you are not an Indian they will wait on you courteously. They will take your orders quick, check on how the food is and do small talk to make sure they get a nice fat tip from you. If you are indian looking forget it. You are not getting none of what I said above. The food is mediocre. The sambar was lukewarm at best. The vadas were mediocre. Only areas where diners are seated is lit. The rest is dark. I guess they are trying to save on their utility bills.

I love this place. The staff is friendly. They food varies in the buffet so I like that. They sometimes have this paneer cut really small with tomato sauce. wow! never had anything like it before. They have a ground lamb sometimes that super flavorful. The vegetable saag is busting out with flavor. Always get seconds on that!

Hands down my favorite Indian place, ever. I've been to the lunch buffet with my family on countless occasions, and have also eaten from the normal dinner menu. From the dinner menu, we had a Thali dinner and some sort of dosa that I can't really remember the specifics of, but I do recall that they were both delicious. Their lunch buffet, however, is my absolute favorite whenever I'm here. Their variety is unbeatable and they're pretty good about replenishing the naan frequently enough. The fact that they switch up the variety every time I'm there always makes it more exciting, although personally, I wish they had the curried potatoes and chicken biryani (my mouth is watering at the thought already) as fixed staples. Yuuuuuum.

I've been here twice for lunch and haven't left disappointed. Their buffet has a great selection of curries. I usually stick to my butter chicken but they are all worth a taste. Of the several indian buffets I've tried on the Eastside, this place has the most mild of curries. They have these really fun divider trays to use if you're one to not like their food touching each other. Service is fine. We were seated promptly and our dirty plates were cleared quickly which is all I can really expect during a weekend lunch rush. I almost wish I lived closer so I can be a regular. I'll be back again.

We've been eating at Mayuri a few times a month for a number of years and it almost always hits the spot. My current favourite dish is the Chicken Tikka Kebab (Thali dinner variety for additional tasty little side dishes) but it's hard to be disappointed by any of their offerings. The lunch buffet is also tasty! One server is especially personable and has a knack for remembering customers, which is always a bonus for the business. Definitely recommended.

Took my family here for dinner. We were first on the wait list and the host told us it will be a 10min wait. Which is fine even with a 20 min wait. The host told us that they were cleaning our booth and we will be seated soon and pointed out to the booth that we will be seating. The host finally said our booth was ready after waiting 10-15 mins and was directing us to the booth that she had pointed out to us earlier. As we were walking to our booth, there was a couple that just walked in with no reservations, nada......walked in just like we did.....got our booth!!!!! WTF? As we were walking to our booth, we were literally stopped in our tracks to our booth to turn BACK around to the front waiting area and said sorry it will be a few mins! And they lead the couple to our fucking table! Are you serious?!?!?!?!? We left and took our business elsewhere! Place suck big balls! My money is good anywhere but not here!

I've only been for the lunch buffet, as it's easy walking distance to my workplace and I can stuff myself for a little over $10. The curries are good albeit bland, although I understand they have to make it palatable for people who might not have a strong spice tolerance. Still, a little more flavor couldn't hurt. Even though I usually come towards closing time, the food is usually fresh and they vary the offerings day to day (one day might have aloo gobi, the next palak paneer. The standard buffet offerings of butter chicken, tandoori chicken, plain naan, etc are always present). The staff is best described as "efficient" (they'll point you to your table and get out of your way afterward), but it's a pretty good value for a lunch buffet, and an excellent choice for when I don't have time for dinner and have to make lunch count.

So, yesterday, my husband said to me the magic words, "Let's do Indian for brunch tomorrow." Since I am the bigger Indian food fan in the family, I knew better than to pass up this opportunity. Also, I got to pick the place. :--) We had an errand to do on the Eastside, so I suggested Mayuri. It is next door to Trader Joe's, where we've been many times. It always seems to be hopping and I'd noticed it had mostly favorable reviews. We kept saying we've got to stop in some time. Today, finally, was the day. We were greeted at the front door by a sign announcing they were doing a special Mother's Day buffet for $13.99. That is a tad above the going rate for Indian brunch buffets, but we suspected it is not their normal price, but had been taken up a notch because of the day. We decided to still give it a go. We were greeted and seated immediately -- in a comfy corner booth. Drinks were ordered (my Chai, his Diet Coke), and we hit the buffet. Suddenly, I had a fright: What if there is no Butter Chicken on the buffet? (Butter Chicken, you see, is the only Indian dish my husband will eat; though he happily accompanies this with Naan and Basmati Rice.) Butter Chicken present; crisis averted. For my part, I found a lovely assortment of vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections, most certain to satisfy anyone who wants to experience more than one item from the buffet. Husband declared the Butter Chicken to be spiced a bit differently than he is used to, but he still found it very tasty and satisfying. I also enjoyed the Butter Chicken, along with some other, less mainstream, selections, such as a Lychee/Paneer concoction and a Saag Kofta. I was happy to see that both our drinks were refilled at no extra charge. Would have liked to have seen more variety on the dessert table. There were three options, but all three were "fruity" in nature, and fruity desserts are just not my thing (generally too sweet for me). Oh, well. I was happy to see Mango Chutney on the table -- a a rare, but appreciated, extra. I also noticed you can order off the menu if you prefer, at brunchtime; a few folks were chowing down on fabulous-looking Dosas, which were larger than most newborn infants. Service was professional and efficient. Overall, we were very satisfied with our first Mayuri experience and will definitely return. For a "non-Mother's Day" brunch. Or dinner. Or both. :--)

Friends and I came here to eat for dinner, after taking a while to decide on what to eat. I'm glad we chose this place because we don't usually eat Indian food, though I do love Indian food. I ordered the chicken tikka masala a la carte, which comes with rice, and boyfriend ordered the lamb saag thali dinner, which comes with rice, naan, dessert, soup, curry of the day, and a few other small stuff. Our friends ordered butter chicken, chicken vindaloo, and chicken chetynadu. Everything was so yummy!! Though, I was a bit disappointed by the portion of the entree of the thali dinner. I ordered a la carte, so it was a lot, but the entree portion was so small for the thali dinner! Nonetheless, everything was so delicious. Our waitress was super nice and she even gave her recommendations (though I still ended up ordering tikka masala--it may be too "common" but it's still yummy!!). However, next time I'm definitely trying the lunch buffet!!

Arguably one of the best Indian places in the Seattle area, having gone out of our way to try out a fair few. We've tried everything from the Chicken Tikka Masala to the Butter Lamb and it's all wonderful. They have a slightly different take on Lamb Korma than I'm used to, but it's rich, dark, flavors were warm and wonderfully satisfying. I've not tried the lunch buffet, but dinner a la carte has never failed to be lovely. The establishment is sandwiched between a Can Am Pizza (also worth a try, if you haven't before) and a now empty storefront, and might not look like much from the outside, but once you're in, it's a world away. Especially on quiet evenings, it's filled with spicy aromas and the statues of Ganesha and other Hindu gods stationed along the walls are a nice touch. Service is reasonably fast, and the staff is friendly - and quite numerous. In fact, that's my only complaint. They seem to have a bounty of servers around at any given time, and it is not uncommon for at least three of them to check in on a regular basis during our meal. The constant need to reply, "yes, it is delicious," or, "yes, we are doing fine, thank you," to each of them in turn can sometimes lead to less cordial thoughts ("we're fine, dammit," and "please leave us the %&*$ alone, thank you.") Well-mannered and attentive, yes, but for me, it's quality over quantity. On the other hand, the server who who refills water glasses is a champ, and is always on the ball...which is great if ordering anything over a couple of stars.

Good price and good food but it got 2 stars for the slow service. I had to chase a waiter to get a refill for my coke and they didn't bother to do it a third time, even though it was mostly ice. Cheap but so is the ambience.

Okish food, looks like their quality has gone down. One of your dishes had too much salt and the server was rude in replacing the dish. Of all the dishes we ordered the masala dosa was best. I think now there are plenty of good options in redmond and I would recommend those over this.

Our visit to the Mayuri Indian Cuisine restaurant was one with high expectations as traditional curry remains such a simplistic dish that it is near impossible for even the worst of chefs to ruin. With that said, the curry in our order of the chicken chetynadu, a southern Indian style of curry, was delicious and complemented well with our order of naan and sambar. However, it was apparently our mistake to order bone-in chicken for our curry, though we blame the chef or whoever was handling the chicken, and as a result we would like to paint for you an image of our experience with this particular dish. Imagine inhaling rice and encountering a delicious piece of chicken slathered in delicious curry with various herbs and spices. With the piece of chicken in sight, your fork gouges at it and promptly delivers the delicacy to your mouth. However, the chicken decides to be uncooperative and instead decides to pierce the insides of your mouth with millions of tiny shards of bone apparently having come from a losing cockfight and instead taking its revenge in the afterlife on your mouth. Now imagine that experience repeating itself over the full course of the meal with every piece of chicken you decide to ingest. Either the staff has mishandled the chicken in some fashion or you have apparently wronged chickens at some point in your life and this is their idea of retaliation. While the dishes tasted delicious and the staff was relatively accommodating, it was the chicken that ruined the evening for us. Our suggestion is to order boneless chicken if that were an option, but even if it were simply a matter of taste, there are quite a few other traditional Indian restaurants in the area that seem more worthwhile.

When I think about peacocks, I think about kings. Why, you ask, Zach? The big color and formation of the feathers reminds me of a crown. So maybe that is why the crown for best butter chicken I've ever had goes to Mayuri. And Mayuri means peacock. You see the correlation I made Zach? I think it is safe to say that I am a connoisseur of butter chicken. I am obssessed with this particular dish, and Mayuri does it really well. It is rich and full bodied, right Zach? Thus far, it has not been dethroned. Though I am very, very willing to be shown some competition. But their butter chicken alone surely does not give them 5 stars. The other dishes are quite amazing too. Tandoori, biryani, the piles of naan... Maybe we should go back tomorrow for lunch. That reminds me, Zach. They have buffet offerings daily 11:30 - 13:30, and it is well worth it. During the weekends it runs you roughly $12, and is cheaper during weekdays. Of special mention though goes to one very special dessert. Do you know which one I'm thinking of Zach? Of course, it's your favorite too. The fruit custard, though simple in structure, is a masterful addition to the colorful array of spice. If I'm not mistaken, it's cut up fruit soaking in a mango liquid that is perfection. If butter chicken is the main feature, then the fruit custard is the bonus footage. Or maybe it is more like director's commentary, because you will probably want to eat it alongside your main dish. Last but not least, Zach. To-go box. $7. They stuff their delicacies into a box, and you can likely make 2 meals out of it. In theory anyway. We always eat the whole thing, don't we Zach?

I love Indian food! Tonights mood called for some (think not cleaning dishes after cooking) and I decided to stray from THE BEST PLACE EVER (Spice Route) and go to Mayuri instead. I was as disappointed as Jenna Jameson sleeping with a midget and not getting paid for it. (can I say that on yelp?) It was in fact Indian food but left so much to be desired, for one the O-Face as in "Oh man this is good!!" I got the Lamb Vindaloo dinner platter. The portion was really tiny and I might add not very tasty. The platter did come with some good veg. curry and the raita was great. But lets face it, the carnivore in me came for lamb not raita. From now on I will go with what I know and that is Spice Route on 148th and 24th NE (in the Fred Myer parking lot next to Chuck-E-Cheese). ps. Spice Route also has the best lunch buffet in town. With all the plugs you would think they are paying me but sadly I just love their food. Maybe Ill ask them for something free next time... (the jew in me loves a discount)

We hadn't had Indian since moving to Washington and were impressed by the take out we got at Mayuri. The Chicken Tikka kebabs were delicious - we also got a lamb dish as the "thali" meal, which was great and came with a ton of food for the price. The vegetable curry and dessert that came with the meal were amazing. The only thing that we didn't like was the raita, which did not taste right (unfortunate, because that's usually one of our favorites!). Next time, I'll just have to order and make my own raita!

Not as good as I thought. The spinach naan was delicious, but the chicken tikka masala chicken was breast meat and dry. The sauce too creamy. We didn't particularly like the table which was wet when the ter decided to put our eating utensils directly on it. Friendly service and decent food although prices were higher than expected.

Took the kids this time. Bruyani was excellent. We got lamb this time. So good. Flavor forever. We also got the mixed grill. Everything is good, but my kids like the shrimp best. Only one shrimp on the mixed grill, so they spilt it. Next time, we might just order the shrimp grill so we can all have some. :) I like the lamb, both ground and chunks. The best part is the sauces that come with the grill. So very flavorful, I wish I could figure out how to make some of these. My kids really enjoyed the mango lassi. Full mango flavor, nice thickness. Speaking of mango, my son ordered the frozen mango dessert, which was beautifully presented and delicious. He was batting our spoons away when we'd try to take a second or third taste. I really like this place. Overall, my daughter mostly found it too spicy, but she was able to find enough to satisfy. She has really low tolerance these days. The rest of us thought the flavors were excellent. Oh, I almost forgot, we all enjoyed the Lollipop Chicken appetizer. The dipping sauce is very spicy, but the chicken itself is not too. It's fun to eat because they fry the chicken drummettes like little lollipops somehow. They wrap the end of the bone in foil, so you can pick it up more easily.

This is definitely the best Indian food in Seattle. My husband is British and we have been looking out for the most authentic British Indian food and this place definitely has it. Our favorite things to eat are the ONION PAKORAS, BAIGAN BHARTHA, SAAG PANEER, CHICKEN BIRYANI and PAPPADUMS. This easily feeds 3 people and gives you leftovers for the next day. There is definitely a reason to go to the eastside to eat at this place. Also, since I am GF, it is a nice thing that they note which things are GF right on the menu and I haven't been sick once.

Have been here many times (7-8) and every time consistently excellent. The buffet is great - perfect variety, hot and fresh. Their dinners are fantastic. Best chicken tikka masala in town in my opinion. Others are good but theirs are GREAT. Not too heavy tomato flavor, just perfect balance of everything. Will be back again and again. If you haven't tried it - you won't regret it for sure. A+ all the way

Stopped by for the lunch buffet back in May Food was pretty good, and good selection I mainly ate the butter chicken because that's my favorite but I tried their other entrees as well and they were all good Only reason I gave three stars is because we hated our waiter I forgot what her name was, she was one of the Hispanic waiters but she did her best to avoid eye contact with us the entire time. We needed refills on our drinks, I kept raising my hand when she was facing us, I kept waiving my arms and she would just look away and never try to see if we're doing ok. Even when I was waiting for my check, I must have spent atleast 15 minutes tying to get her attention. Even when she was facing towards us she would keep her eyes down every time so she didn't see me standing up and waiving my arms from the back room. I just ended up walking to the front to ask her for her check or else we would have never gotten it. Now, the owner on the other hand was pretty cool. I had a chance to talk to him for a few minutes and he was really nice and Id definitely go back just because of him. Just wish he would train his waiters better or pick better ones!

By seeing the reviews I was very excited to try out this Indian restaurant. Let's get the food review up front. Idly sambar and the chutney is amazing. Freshly made. The idly was soft and had the exact taste that you would find in the streets of India. Sambar had the aroma and the taste to quench your south Indian desire. Chicken biriyani is a big NO NO. I found briyani much better in other places. All the chicken appetizers are amazing. Fresh tender and juicy. The decor tries to portray some of the Indian culture and the love of many gods but I can surely see some improvements can be made. The serve is fast and friendly. Hope to come here for another plate of idle sambar!

This is for takeout only. My friend and I were in the mood for Indian food and this was a 4 minute drive from his house and we've had great experiences at there buffet so we decided to give it a try. We both ordered the chicken tikka Marsala and it was very satisfying. The naan was very tasty and I decided to order the lamb samosas, the crust was great but the filling was very sloppy and disappointing. That's the only reason they don't get 5 stars, next time I'll try the vegetable option and if it's up to par then I'll bump my review up to 5 stars. To end on a positive note, service was very friendly.

Just visiting family and stopped here for lunch with my wife as she was craving Indian. The buffet here is very fresh and the items are always refilled quickly with very short waits. Everything is piping hot and fresh. My usual favorites includes just the naan, butter chicken, and the spinach item. They ran out of naan several times but each time it was only a short wait before the bin would get refilled. Butter chicken typically taste stale to me at other buffet restaurants where the chicken is harder to chew but here it seems someone is always in the back cooking up a new batch. Service is great as plates are removed quickly and water always topped off every few minutes.

Having moved up from the Bay Area recently, I've been on the hunt for my new favourite Indian restaurant. So far, Mayuri keeps winning amongst the Eastside spots I've tried. I've been here for their lunch Buffett as well as dinner and been pleasantly surprised each time by the freshness and flavours. I am still working through the menu but so far each lamb dish has hit the spot. I like the ambience, service and vibe is just what I'm looking for - unpretentious but pleasant. The only con is that the women's restroom is always freezing cold. Unlike their food, which warms me right up!

Buffet lunch is good as is their dinner. This would be a 5 star review, but the service docks it two stars. Getting drink refills for anything other than water is hard...and getting the workers (the men, by the way) who take your order during dinner service to come back and give water or soft drink refills is nearly impossible. Also, sometimes, if you don't kick up a fuss, they won't even take your order until they're ready -- 20 minutes later. I've yet to have bad service from the females. I've had to flag a couple down when the men were ignoring our table of 4 or, at times, just my husband and myself. The women get it done and more than make up for the sloppiness of the male servers. However, when I do ask one of the non-Indian male servers for a refill, it is prompt - pity they're always so busy that they don't pay attention to their tables. It's like you're only able to have one serving of everything and you have to fend for yourself. It feels like it's a bit of a "I've served you once. That's it! Done. Here's your check. Bye." The food here is excellent and we try to get here during the buffet. We no longer bring friends here for dinner, though. We also no longer come here during dinner because service is bad.

Wow! I haven't been to the buffet yet, but just dinner...twice. So, almost everything we've had has been amazing. They won't make things (at least for me of fair skin) very spicy, but they do try. On the tandoori side of things: I would recommend you stick with the bone in chicken or the ground lamb thing. The shrimp were overcooked, the other things on the "platter" just weren't awesome. The Chicken 65...OMG...I LOVE YOU! So hard to find it and they did an awesome job. It is more moist than it is deep fried, in case you have a preference. The Naan is naanish. It's good, not dry, not undercooked...just tasty The Lamb Vindaloo was great. perhaps the lamb was cooked too quickly, but if you want lamb falling off the bone tender...you gotta order it on the bone...and i don't want to. The Samosas were delicious. The Molegatani (misspelled for sure), was very tasty...a little too soupy for me...but that's just cause I ordered the wrong thing =) The Lamb Rogan Gosh was OK...but it was good if you love Rogan Gosh. So...stop reading...come eat here...

I brought my daughter here and food was good but... took an hour to get. And the order was wrong and brought to the wrong table no less than 4 times. They also made it too spicy for my kiddo despite requests it not be spicy at all. No apologies for the slow service or order messups. I'll give them another shot for an adult meal. But last night was a fail.

  • Brian S.

Ugh... I'm stuffed! The food has always been nothing short of amazing. But all the times I've come in have been for dinner. I had not had lunch here, until now. The buffet style food here left me satisfied and hungry for more. The quality of dishes available coupled with the excellent value of only $10.00 I can't think of a bad thing to say of this place. 5 - star experience, every time. This was my 5th visit to Mayuri. It's been great, every time.

We have eaten here several times for dinner only. Have not tried the buffet. They are usually pretty busy, but the service is still pretty fast and friendly. After the first time we came here, they remembered us and what we ordered and what we liked --and some special requests, which they went out of their way to arrange with the cooks. One of our favorite dishes is the Lamb Rogan Josh - and it comes pretty spicy (2-3 stars) from the kitchen -- we have asked to have it less spicy, but they just make it that way and so they can't reduce the heat level on an individual order. However, they go to a lot of extra effort to accomodate some requests on other dishes, such as vegan or gluten free versions. They have even made dishes we requested which were not on the menu. We came here for my birthday once and ordered a kulfi for dessert -- it came with a gorgeous pattern of various sauces as part of the presentation. It's worth it to order it, it's very tasty and a work of art!

Great service. Mango lassi is super sweet. Best most fluffiest naan. Chicken tikka masala could be a little thicker in consistency, but could also be because I asked for not spicy. Overall decent experience.

My wife is Indian and I never really got into Indian food until we started coming here. EVERY single dish I've had has been awesome. It is spicy (not toned down much for Americans which is good), but if you are Indian and want it even hotter, they can accommodate that. My favorite is the Mixed Tandoori grill. Bone-in and boneless chicken, prawn, lamb and sausage (Indian style) all cooked in tandoori oven with tandoori spices. You can tell the meat is marinated overnight, because it is never dry and always full of flavor. Delicious! The naan is always very good and not too buttery. My wife really enjoys the turka daal and roti. Also, they provide large glasses of soda and water with lots of ice if you want. Many Indian restaurants will give small glasses and no ice. But I love my beverages huge and icy, and Mayuri delivers!

  • Anjana A.

I have been to Mayuri a few times for dinner and the food has been consistently good. There is an option to convert any dish to a "thali" for a few $ extra which gives the opportunity to try many different items. We have tried several chicken and lamb dishes here and all have been pretty good. The service varies, I've had excellent service and average service depending on the server. Although, my rule in Indian restaurants is that if you need something keep telling them about it till they make it right. Mayuri has been fairly consistent in food quality so far but every restaurant has it's off days. Last time we visited the butter chicken tasted stale - but it was a Monday so probably they were using Sunday leftovers. I will still give 4 stars as overall our experience has been good. The ambience is nice for an Indian restaurant - with nice booths and cozy atmosphere - and prices are reasonable overall. The rice comes complimentary, they don't nickel and dime like certain restaurants that have the rice extra.

Average Indian stuff....biryani was ok.....there are better Indian places around....good for a one time try. P.S. - The food quality at their branch in Bothell was worse as compared to here, skip the buffet!

Strictly basing this review on their lunch buffet. We love going here for lunch. This is by far the best Indian buffet in town. Their buffet options are great if you a meat eater or a vegetarian. Lots of choices and they all taste pretty dang good, especially for the price. Flavor wise, I'd rate their buffet better than a lot of the made to order Indian places around this area. This place kills my diet as I usually have 4 plates of food for lunch. Arg. I can't help myself here. Staff are friendly and attentive. Also, if you like to segregate your food, they have divided plates for your hearts content. Honestly though, its great to have that option as sometimes you don't want to mix certain items with others. Although for me, I just get mounds of their butter chicken. I can eat that all day.

Hands-down one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. We were greeted pleasantly on arrival, and all the staff we interacted with were very nice and knowledgable about the menu. The restaurant itself is clean, with a pleasant atmosphere. I got the tandoori chicken and it was the best I've ever had. The masala dosa was incredible! Also had the paneer naan and garlic naan. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

I have been missing good Indian food for a long time! I came here with my grandma and we had veggie pakoras for starters and a masala dosa. The pakoras came with deep fried jalapeños with onion and coconut chutney. They were very spicey but good. The dosa was perfectly crisp and had the bean soup with it. I only wish They haduo onion chutney. I ordered a mango lassie to top it off and even the lassie was devine. Then it was on to the main course we picked Lamb Rogan Josh (3 stars spice) and a Paneer Tikka Masala (3 stars with Aloo Kulcha. The lamb dish was great it was the first time I had it. The lamb was moist and basically melted in your mouth. I think next time I'll go for 4 stars, because I would like it more spicey. The Paneer was very good. I beleive that it was cheess and not tofo. I scooped up these tastey curries with Aloo Kulcha. This naan has potato and onion inside of it. I loved it with Paneer tikka . I will be coming back here very soon!

Can't get over how fantastic the food is here. I have tried numerous meals (not buffet style) and loved them all. Walk into the door you are greeted at the door with a scent of the delish spices being used. I can't get enough of this place!

I couldn't believe the hype so I trekked over to the burbs to sample the wears at the lunch buffet. Meh. Meh. Yes, the okra was fresh not frozen and well cooked. No, the tandoori was not up to snuff. The uttapam's were dots of dough and the Vada's over fried. The biryani was overcooked. The goat was good. The rotis were ok. The saag was good. They had many more dishes that I didn't sample. The kheer and mango dessert were nothing to write home about. I'm signing off buffets for good. Never believe another review that they are anything but mass servings of food with little flavor. Sigh. I'm not sure I will visit again to sample a sit down menu. There isn't much to be said about the ambience of the place and none of the dishes on the menu seemed to warrant a comeback. My quest continues for an indian restaurant that really understands the cuisine and specializes in a region. India has many regions and the food is different. The day an Indian restaurant stays true to its regional roots is the day you've found an authentic indian restaurant .

This place is a bit spendier than other nearby Indian buffets and once you eat here, you'll see why. The atmosphere is the best I have seen when it comes to indian restaurants. You feel like you're getting quality all around. The food is spectacular! Every single dish is carefully prepared with the best ingredients. Their meats are incredibly moist/delicious and melt in your mouth... best Tandoor chicken I've ever had. The Gobi Manchurian was a new experience for me and I was blown away! Wow! Just be careful... we're talking spicy on this one. I read another commenter say that the butter chicken will change your life.. I laughed out loud at that and now I realize i'ts true! Absolutely fall-out-of your seat amazing. I haven't even gotten started on the desserts, either. The fruit salad is outstanding. It's rich/thick mango sauce covering fruit, along with a caramel type sauce drizzled over the top. I could have eaten at least 5 bowls of the stuff. Wow! The vermicelli blew all other rice pudding-type treats out of the water. It was warm and soothing... ahh! I could go back every weekend... it's going to take some serious restraint not to. :)

Had the Mutter Panier it was good. We had a big group and food came out quickly. Word on the street is get the plain naan, the garlic isn't so good. I wasn't impressed with their Chai tea but everything else was good. They are tucked into a strip mall next to Trader Joes.

It has been a while since I have been there. I have a reason... While the food is good the cleanliness has something to be desired. I had water and after a few glasses the ice had melted. When the staff member came to refill I asked for more ice. He poured my water back into the pitcher and walked to the next table filled their water glasses and brought back a glass with ice and water to me. I was grossed out and left.

This is our "regular" indian joint though we go to a lot of different places. It's pretty consistent, food is good, pricing is appropriate. Dishes: chicken tikka masala, veggie pakoras, naan, vindaloos, samosas, etc. Disclaimer: I eat the very "american" indian dishes but love the food, at least what I eat. I am by no means an expert unless I'm compared appropriately.

I came at lunch and service was SLOOOOW, even with 90% of the people taking buffet. Fantastic masala dosa. Among the best I've had in the US.. Very large crispy (1.5x plate diameter) pancake, nice potato filling and excellent sambar. Served with coconut and spicy tomato chutneys. Nice, yum. I'll come again for the dosa.

This place was closed down (July 12, 2012 at 12:15 pm) and then reopened July 16, 2012 at 12:20 pm according to Seattle and King County Public Health. kingcounty.gov/healthser… I always thought the food was decent, but not spectacular. Except the samosas, which I thought were 4-star caliber. Seems like this doesn't apply to the snack shop a few blocks away, which is a good thing. But I really cannot see myself going here for a long looong time for decent Indian food. According to the link above: - Potentially hazardous foods at unsafe temperatures - Improper cooling of potentially hazardous food - Inadequate facilities to control temperature of potentially hazardous food, cold holding - Poor personal hygiene practices - Handwashing facilities inaccessible - Failure to correct repeated violations - Active foodborne illness outbreak

Their lunch buffet ($9.95) was disappointing yesterday, with most of their food at lukewarm to cold temperature, their rice was dry & chewy, the naan bread was not freshly made, the paneer looked really sad, not sure if there was any cheese or chicken in there. Their desserts were better than the entrees with the exception of the tandoori chicken.

This is a review of the Bothell restaurant which has unfortunately significantly declined in quality and service. We usually love Mayuri and always order the same items. We have been going to the Bothell location for over 5 years. The last 2 times we went we have experienced poor quality food and poor service. When we brought up the issue with the food to the manager, he comes over to hear the problem but does not acknowledge nor does anything about it. The Malai Kofta , usually one of the best dishes at Mayuri, was to way over salted and they recently reduced the portions from 4 balls to 3. The Chicken Tikka Kabab usually very moist, tender and uniformly marinated, was dry, burnt and over salted in a strange yellowish uneven stain. In the past, the meal was served all at once so we could all enjoy our food together with nan and rice. The past two times, the food was staggered to the point that some of us had finished their meal before other dished, nan or rice arrived. Very disappointing for a restaurant that used to provide such a nice, good quality indian food. The worst part of it was that the manager clearly did not seem to care.

Lunch Buffet: I love the school style plates! They give you a choice between a regular plate of a metal platter which has separate sections for you to place your sauces which prevents them from mixing together! It made it fun to fill up my plate! The food was exciting and when I say exciting, I mean their food were all mislabeled so it was and "exciting" mystery to my selections! lol Luckily I don't have any food allergies! As I walked the line, I came across a ton of dirty dishes and lack of food. Replenishment was a little slow but the service in general was great. I tried a little bit of everything and liked just about the same. My only critic would be that the chicken was dry, both in the butter chicken and tandoori. Other than that, I loved it. I think Indian Buffets are the best buffets! My next review will be on Mayuri's Bothell location.

Used to be a big fan, went nearly about 3-4 times a month for lunch or dinner for several years. Haven't been back there in months. The place has seriously declined. It used to be their veg entrees cost the same as their meat entrees but were served in a larger container. Last take-away we ordered it cost the same as a meat dish but was in a much smaller (meat size) container; nearly half the size it had been. The sauces they give out for FREE in the restaurant with the FREE papadams they now charge a LOT for in takeaway. You end up paying for two of the 3 sauces in takeaway AND pay for the papadams. When I called to talk to someone about it, the woman I spoke was rude, dismissive, haughty; I got the impression that was the price you had to pay for not dining in (and giving tips, I assume). Inside the restaurant, they're liable to clean the table a few feet away with a stinky ammonia cleaner that ruins your meal. One week the chicken tikka masala (which used to be spot on all the time), was great; about a week later it was watery and tasted bland. I wish a decent Indian restaurant would open up nearby and give them some good competition; they are definitely resting on their (old) laurels and the convenience of their location and don't give a whit about giving good value/quality. VERY disappointing.

Sometimes, a very simple item will have a large impact on experience. Such a simple item, yet, the tray for the buffet is one of the details that really helps! They use a stainless steel tray with 5 cups around the main food area (see picture). What a wonderful way to keep the various sauces separated! The tray really helped make this one of the best Indian Lunch buffets I can remember going to. They have a wonderful selection of vegetarian and meat dishes. The Fruit salad was particularly good as was the curried lamb. The naan bread was fresh and worked well for dipping in the various sauces. And the service was great! I was there with 12 people on a farewell lunch and the initial table setup for was 8. They quickly set us up on a 12 person table and broke the sections to make the booth setup easier for ingress/egress. This is definitely a place I would travel to for Indian food!

My favorite Indian restaurant on the Eastside. This is my go-to place for taking friends and family, whether the lunch buffet or dinner. Good value, delicious and well spiced Tikka Masala, wonderful garlic naan, and a thick, creamy raita. Dining companions rave about the food, and I get to look smart for my selection.

Service was friendly. Presentation was lovely. Their naan was something special. I had some as leftovers and it still had a rich, flavorful taste even when reheated in the microwave & the toaster oven. Avoid the curry chicken if you like it mild as their mild curry chicken still has a kick. If you like spice, this might be your place. Food was ok to good, but I was expecting the best in the Seattle Metropolitan area from what I've heard about the place. Dessert that comes with the Thali dinner was meh.

I read the negative reviews...and thankfully was blown away by the awesomeness of this place. Sure, there are a few things that they could improve on, and I'll try to name those in just a bit, but overall, I was very impressed with the food at Mayuri's. So, the "negatives": - Bathroom is out of the way...felt a bit like I was walking into the kitchen area, which always makes me feel awkward when I'm "invading" the employees' area. - The dessert was kind of iffy, but hey, it came with the meal and I wasn't expecting an amazing dessert--I can't remember having an Indian dessert that I really liked. I'm still waiting for that day :). - That's all. The "wonderfuls": - Oh my, the paneer is delicious, as are the samosas and mango lassis. I'm a fan. - The portions are just right. Actually, we ate all we could and had leftovers...so yes, perfect. I love Indian food leftovers. - The menu is conveniently written with categories of appetizers, vegetarian options, non-vegetarian options, etc. It's also pleasantly organized so that you know almost exactly what you're getting without needing to ask many questions. - Prices are very reasonable for a sit-down restaurant. - My impression of the place instantly went up when I saw how many Indian people were eating there! I mean, if they like the food--and I'd assume they know good Indian food, right?--then it must be good! And it was so good! - Anyway...it was great. Oh, and the atmosphere of the place felt very classy. I was impressed. It's well worth visiting. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

My hubby and I came here after we were craving Indian food and didn't feel like driving to Cedar's in Seattle. Next time we'll make the drive. The menu had a lot to choose from. Hubby and I both ordered the butter chicken dinner with varying spice levels. Our food came out within 5-6 minutes. I think they might be doing things buffet style in the kitchen. Our dinners were served on a metal plate with 5 metal bowls on them and some rice. We got a pretty yummy soup, some semi-cold curry, a yogurt dish (not my thing but hubby liked it), and something else along with a small order of butter chicken. It also came with basic naan. We probably should have tried one with garlic as this was a bit simple, but still good. The meal also came with dessert. It was a warm, tapioca pudding with a little spice in there. After a few bites, we were done. My hubby got a major stomach ache later that night and we wonder if it was from the dinner.

Loves: their food was fresh on a Saturday morning for buffet. the staff is really nice and friendly good location Hates: The food was put in different places than what they actually were--the names on top of the foods didn't match is what I mean and for a non-Indian I didn't like that. I felt like there wasn't enough or a lot of food The taste wasn't as tasty as Bombay Grill Overall: I'll go again if I'm in the area---I didn't look at their regular menu so I don't know what they do/don't have

I wish I had 4 stomachs so I could actually order a thali dinner here, as it is we end up with leftovers for 2 days if we order an appetizer. If you've never tried southern Indian food you should get the South India combo and get over your fear of giant dosas while getting to sample some great bits of food and soup and chutneys. I love anything they have with lamb, some places the lamb or goat tastes gamy but not at Mayuri. I think what mainly keeps me coming back is how flavorful everything is, you can really taste all the different spices they use. If you really want a spicy kick get the karaikudi vegetables but beware if you order 4 stars or more. I'm no where near shy of spices, I don't order Thai food with less than 5 stars, and the 4 star karaikudi vegetables was *just* bordering on the painful side. The waiter assured me it could be ordered up to 6 stars which seems insane even to me. Save some room at the end for some rasmalai, "homemade cheese patties immersed in milk.." just does not do justice to what this is. It's not at all cheesy just sweet wonderful deliciousness flavored with cardamom and rosewater. It can get pretty busy here but they try to turn the tables over as fast as they can. The atmosphere is nice, soft lighting and brightly colored walls. The waiters and waitresses have always been friendly and willing to explain new dishes to me.

Right next door to Trader Joe's in Bellevue, Mayuri is one of my favorite Indian lunch buffets. I grew up in Bellevue, and when I was in school, "International House of Pancakes" was what served for exotic foreign food. I guess Microsoft has been importing a lot of Indian engineers, and they've brought friends and family and with it a lot of really good Indian food. At lunchtime, Mayuri usualy has about five meat dishes as well as the usual spread of veggies salads and deserts. Food is a little less spicy than "Kebab Palace" around the corner but that one's closed due to an unfortunate car accident in the dining room so Mayuri is going to be your best bet on this side of town. I think the food at this place is really tasty. The servers are friendly, the restaurant clean and comfortable, and the prices reasonable. The pictures I see here give you a pretty good idea of what the food will be like. My only criticism would be that if you are the first one in for lunch, you may get the tail end of yesterday's chicken. Watch when they bring more out, that will be the good stuff. All in all, a really great place. Mayuri also runs a really fun grocery store a couple of blocks away, right next to Kebab Palace, this place is also worth checking out if you need any spices, vegetables, or packaged foods.

My favorite Indian place in Seattle. Their food is consistent and consistently awesome. The restaurant is run primarily by South Indian people, and I think thats what they do best. My recommendations for eating here - 1. Chicken Biryani (to die for), 2. Tandoori platter (ask them to make it all chicken) 3. South Indian dishes ilke dosa, idli etc. I think the owners hail from the Indian state of Andhra pradesh, which is known for its spicy food, and they do as good a job of living up to it as is possible in a foreign land. Highly recommended

They are the best tasting Indian Resturant in Bellevue . If you are looking for the fresh made nan bread, you are going to the right place. If you go there for your first visit, go there at lunch time. You will be back again soon.

Just add me to the chorus here; this place is awesome! My favorite part is how the menu for the buffet is constantly different - even the desserts are not the same each time I visit. This is a welcome departure from the standard-fare indian restuarants that rely on the same staples every day for their buffet. Oh, and the clientele is mostly (if not exclusively) Indian, so you know you're in the right place!! I secretly question whether Mayuri is building an empire, as they own the grocery store down the street, and I saw an ad today in their restaurant for a Mayuri travel service. I'm not sure why this worries me, but I think Mayuri may take over the eastside. Actually, this would be a good thing... Disclaimer - I've only eaten at the buffet here (maybe 5 times), so I have no idea what their dinner menu is like. If it's half as good as the buffet, I'd be a regular as well. Keep doing what you do, Mayuri! And to the rest of you, go eat here!

I have to say that Mayuri is one of many excellent Indian restaurants I'm happy to drive to and enjoy great Indian food! The curries are something special with their moderate spices and the sensation of dipping naan bread into them. I always feel good after a generous helping of Indian cuisine. If you live close by Trader Joe's in Redmond, stop on in their lunch buffet and give it a try!

Their kabuli naan is AMAZING! I could seriously have eaten that alone for dinner. It's basically naan stuffed with pureed raisins and dried fruit. I had no idea what I was getting when I ordered, but it sounded interesting so I thought I'd give it a try. Mmm...now I can't stop thinking about it! If you like at least a little kick to your food go above a medium on the spicy scale. Their way of rating seems a bit lower than what my mouth and stomach can normally handle.

My friends call it "Prison Indian" because the plates look like metal prison cafeteria trays. This makes me like the place a little more. If you go for lunch, try to go early...before noon, if you don't want to wait in a really long line. I like the butter chicken and their sweet desserts. The fried foods are really good too. I think the last time we went, I had spicy potatoes (Bombay?). They were sort of roasted and crusty, with an intense spice coating. They were addictive. I think I ate several pounds of it. The naan is not special, but I still like it. There's a white pudding-type of dessert that's difficult to describe. Try it. It's in a soup tureen type of container at the end of the buffet. I'm sure it's crammed with sugar and fat, and yes, it is quite good. It's not a "nice" place, but the food is good and consistent.

Mayuri is my favorite Indian Restaurant in Bellevue. It's located right next to Trader Joe's. All the Indian dishes come with a choice of ala'carte or Thalia dinner. The Thalia dinner consist of your dish of course, plus rice, soup of the day, curry of the day, vegi of the day, naan, desert, and this yummy yogurt stuff (really compliments the spices of the rest of the meal). This all comes in a metal round plate, each part of the meal in a separate round plate. It's not the most appealing dishes, but it does the purpose. My favorite dish here is the butter chicken. It's so creamy and the perfect balance of salt and spice. The naan here is really good as well. If you get the Thalia dinner, you can pay the difference in price (of plain naan) to get a different kind with your meal. Just one meal is usually enough for one person. So if you plan on trying alot of dishes I wouldn't recommend getting the meals, it will be too much food. The service is also great, they are really friendly!

These folks have no consideration for waiting customers. Last year when I went there with my 6 month old, it was really crowded for dinner. A girl who was supposed to be managing the waiting list and getting people seated quickly was way too unconcerned. She simply flitted about and chatted with some other colleague/manager/her father - and was hardly apologetic for the long waits - she seemed too delighted to have all that power over poor hungry customers. This restaurant is extremely child/baby unfriendly. No baby changing station in the bathroom. The mens-room door was ajar with 3 guys chatting in there - I didn't turn to look what else I would see but it was most disgusting. I am an Indian and sadly, this is not a restaurant I would ever go to again! Sheesh!

You will often end up eating Guu at this restaurant. So if you enjoy eating Guu you will love this place and will recommend it to your loved friends. The Guu served in this Indian restaurant will blow you off your feet and take you straight to the restaurants restroom. Your tummy will thank you and you will visit again just for the unforgettable experience. Large groups are welcome. Visit them for special occassions such as birthdays and anniversary. Remember, you pay only if you manage to get out of the restaurant with the reheated indian delicacies in your happy tummy. Your dinner is free if you put it back right where it came from. You're right! Its the restaurants restroom. :-)

I'd rate it 3.5 stars. Mayuri's...I've only ever gone for the buffet lunch. Good selection of indian dishes. There are some day to day standard selections and some rotating ones throughout the week. The tandori chicken has a good taste to it. It is only leg and thigh meat but that is what I like. They have soups, salads, vegetarian and meat options. Over the past number of times I have gone and over the past few years and today, they look to be holding to their consistency. Friendly service. The butter chicken, paneer nan, and curries/vindaloo of various meats as lamb, goat, chicken....I haven't been consistent enough to figure out if they have a pattern to dishes they bring out for the daily buffet but their butter chicken is there everytime I have gone. You can even grab a steel tray that is unique to eat off of. I thought it was a unique thing to eat off of in my quirky mind. A lot of small areas on the tray to hold appetizers, dips, and such so they don't mix unless you want them to. Less hassle to deal with carrying a bunch of little dishes back to the table or having all the flavors mix in your plate (sometimes good, sometimes bad mix of flavors). Although over the years, I thought I recall it being a little more spicy than it is now but that could just be my memory getting to me. The spice level that is offered for some of the items on the buffet is a good amount of heat but not over powering. The naan isn't freshly brought out to the table like another buffet in the area but it is good. They had dosa there as well but they weren't holding up well being on the buffet warmers The dessert when they have it is great. The gulab jamun is so good if you like a doughnut hole style soaked in honey sauce. There is this soft shredded coconut pudding(?) that has some raisins, spices, and maybe nuts at times they serve that is very good. They serve it warm which I like but I have also had it at other places were it is served cold. The place gets crowded during the lunch rush. The place is next to Trader joes and a pizza place. You can pay at the counter for your buffet meal after you finish.

More like a 3.5* place but unfortunately I have to round down to a 2 star on account of cleanliness. Average buffet and better than average food when ordering from the menu. Service is good but there is better Indian food to be had in Seattle - coming from someone who is intimately familiar with Indian food.

The briyani tastes like its ordered from elsewhere and served here (cos nothing else tastes as good...... ) I've tried theire buffet, a la carte, whichever form they have, but for the egg and veg. briyani, these guys have nothing to brag about.

Yum. We had Mayuri delivered last night, and we should do that more often. Their chicken tikka masala is delicious, as is their butter chicken. I'm pretty serious about my butter chicken..the chicken was very moist, and the sauce was nice and yellow..just how I like it. I don't like red butter chicken. The bhangan barta was amazingly spicy, and was perfect paired with some garlic naan. The naan is thick and fluffy, just how I like it.

Yum! This is going to be a short review because, sadly, I'm not very well-versed in Indian food and I don't know the names of ANYTHING I ate... I just know it was good. We went for the lunch buffet, and I must say, it was a good idea. It was basically all-you-can-eat (I saw people getting seconds) and there were plenty of both veggie and meat options - and rice and naan of course! It was about $19 for two of us (not including anything to drink but water), which is a little pricey for a lunch buffet (in my humble/cheap opinion), but definitely not bad. The service was only so-so. The servers were very nice, but sort of... not helpful? We walked in and were seated, but then basically ignored until we asked, "Do we just go grab a plate?" We hadn't been to Mayuri before, so we weren't sure how it worked - do you pay first? Do they GIVE you the plates? Are there non-buffet options and would the server expect us to wait for a menu? (You just go to the buffet, grab a plate, and feed yourself, in case anyone else was wondering.) Once we'd finished and had our plates taken away... we were ignored again. We didn't know if someone was going to bring us a check or if we were meant to pay at the front, so we finally got a chance to ask, and the guy told us it was "okay" to pay at the front... so I still have no idea what the correct way is, but whatever. So three stars for not-so-awesome service and not-so-super-cheapness, but honestly, places like this make me wonder why I ever thought I hated Indian food. It's freaking GOOD!

Wow. Deeeeeeelicious! I haven't had such good Indian food in a long time. It was busy when my friends and I got there. We feel bad for the people that were sitting in the same room as us because we were quite loud and animated (catching up gets very dramatic and loud hehe). We ordered a spinach curry, some type of lamb curry and butter chicken curry along with some rice and naan. I really enjoyed everything! I kept eating even though I was full lol You know that an ethnic restaurant is good when you see tons of their own people there and there were tonsss of Indian people there. I saw that they now have a new north-end location. Whoopie! I hope to visit it sometime in the future!

I dont eat Indian often, but have been to alot of Indian buffets and I know what I like. I can only rate the buffet and not off the menu. Mayuri does offer as many dishes as most Indian buffets, but the dishes were just OK. I didnt find anything to be incredibly spectacular, just OK. Butter chicken was OK, tandoori chicken OK, the naan was always lacking on the buffet table. I like Indian buffets that supply more that one type of bread product on their buffet & Mayuri only had the everlacking naan. I also enjoy sampling the desserts at Indian buffets and found their desserts to be very lacking, a orange colored whipped fruit cocktail thing, sugary sweet kheer made with noodles rather than rice and some fried ball that was sickenly sweet. I couldnt get the smell off my coat for days........

Well, this was tough for me. 3 star...or 4 star...hmmm...well, i obviously went with the latter. we popped in here for lunch buffet on a sunday a few minutes after they opened. sucky part was the food wasn't ready for some reason. you'd think that they would have that down by now. food wasn't really ready until around 1140-1145. that's pretty gosh darn late IMHO. anywho, we figured, weird, but they were nice and apologetic. while in line getting food (this is where things start to go downhill), we were scooping up some awesome looking food. but then one of the workers jumped in front of me (i was first in line) and just started grabbing practically ALL of the naan bread! WTF! it was entirely full, but by the time she finished, there were only 3 pieces left! Apparently they were for to-go orders. That's messed up. Not that I needed 3 pieces, but there were more than 3 people in line. Way to give priority to people not even in the restaurant!!! Well, we claimed our pieces, so I guess some of the next people were SOL. I tried some stuff here in there, but tended to focus on the butter chicken and tandoori chicken! Very good! Not the best I've ever had, but still very good. I kept an eye on the buffet line, and noticed that workers kept cutting in line in front of other people, and dishing things out, and taking more bread. I know they emptied the bread more than once, even right after they were refilled. How are people IN the restaurant ever supposed to get more bread!?!?!? My second time up I got filled up on everything except...go figure...naan bread. out again. That's just messed up. Either make more bread, or stop taking it for people who aren't even there yet! Or better yet, don't bring it out front, and then take it away 5 seconds later. Just leave it in the back or make them their own batch. I mean really! Well, with all that being said, I couldn't just drop them to 3 stars just because of lack of bread (...or could i??). It sounded like it was a crazy day. Maybe if we showed up an hour later, they would've been better stocked by then. but then we'd be eating hour old food? In summary, great food, but i want more naan bread.

I haven't been disappointed yet. The food is very good. The service is fine. Plenty of parking. The gobi manchurian is ridiculously good. I get it every time I go. The staff is friendly and I recognize staff members that have been there since I started eating here. I feel like that is a good sign. (It isn't just the owner/manager that has stayed the same.) The size of the restaurant is perfect. Most seats are filled when I go, but I usually don't have to wait for more than 5 minutes to sit down. There is an extensive vegetarian section, which I appreciate. Takeout containers are not styrofoam, if that matters to you, too.

This is my favorite place to eat when I am in the Bel-Red area. They are great people. I love the young hostess, she is a little spitfire. And the older couple are always so warm and inviting. The food changes from visit to visit with a couple of main stays so I get to try different dishes. I have a friend who is visiting India and they ask for updates about the trip.

lunch buffet had a great variety of flavorful dishes. I can't even remember what all I ate, but it was all very very good. We left stuffed to the gills and satisfied...just roll me out to my car cause that's what a buffet is all about! Can't wait to have dinner there.

We ordered the paneer Manchurian. It was not done properly. The pakoras were garnished with onions and served as Manchurian. Traditionally Manchurian has been in tangy gravy with mildly crisp pieces. This was dry with overly fried pieces. When contacted they say, this is how we do it

Where do I start? Best South Indian restaurant in Bellevue (Anjappar is second best!). They have all the variety of dosa, especially rava dosa which seems to be difficult to find in other South Indian restaurants. Overall, great food!

I had tried couple of to-go orders from Mayuri. Generally the food is pretty good. I think its one of the best in Bellevue.

My absolute favorite Indian buffet on the eastside. When I'm in a rush, their chicken to go dish is fantastic.

My husband used to work across the street from Mayuri which is how we were introduced to this place and it is the best Indian food we have tried. We have tried several places near where we live but enh... While dinner is better than their buffet the buffet is to die for AND you get to try everything. I have had some amazing dishes that I would have never known to order off the menu. I have been trying to learn to like vegetables more and to my surprise I have not had a bad veggie dish here at Mayuri. If I had to go vegetarian for some strange reason I would want their dishes every day. We do love their metal trays they have for the lunch buffet during the week over their plates they have on the weekend :) We have been to the other location a couple of times but the dont compare either.. make the trip to Bellevue!!

I don't remember the last time I felt so sick after eating. Don't worry. It wasn't food poisoning. Rather, vast quantities of overly rich, oily, and spicy food. It burned going in and... well, I won't go there. Why did I think going to an Indian buffet was a good idea? I'm still feeling the effects a day later. I'll give them props and say that for a relatively cheap lunch buffet, the selection is decent. Not great but better than Pabli for instance. It isn't strictly vegetarian so if you are vegetarian, you end up with about the same amount or fewer items to eat. The meat items were good quality. Huge chunks of tender meat in the curries, which is astonishing to see in an Indian buffet. My son loved the butter chicken. Flavors of the dishes were good as well and it was authentically spicy. No issue with the service. However, the food did not agree at all with us. Maybe it was the spice but I usually can handle spicy food. I think in this case it was more the richness of the food that was the issue. The amount of oil coming out of the curried eggplant was astonishing. I think I ate enough fat to last me a week. Next time I'm craving Indian food, I'll make sure that it is 1) not a buffet 2) lighter on the rich curries and more chaat style.

The food may be good, but service and courtesy are missing. With a half empty restaurant the food doesn't arrive for over 45 minutes. When we asked the waiter about how much more time, he answered rudely to say you need to wait. Yes, we can wait but seriously, you can talk politely with your customers. Can't expect customers to return with this attitude of the staff. There are other choices around the area and you would be better off going there.

I hadn't experienced life until I ate here. THE BEST Indian food I've had hands down. The curry is perfectly rich and creamy. The rice nice and fluffy. The naan is perfection. I've had a variety of items off the menu, all are incredibly pleasing to the palette.

Want to kick things off by saying my stomach feels violated and betrayed. What started out as a craving for Indian buffet ended a quick 14 minutes later full of disappointment. The limited selection of curry really took me by surprise. What kind of Indian buffet doesn't include a basic masala dish? Of the remaining dishes, the butter chicken was extremely watered down, like drinking curry powder koolaid. More importantly, it lacked basic seasoning. On the other end of the seasoning spectrum, say hello to the chicken chettinad. This dish was so overly seasoned, it felt like chugging a can of Morton Salt. Wow. I am a huge fan of buffets; been to many, many in my lifetime. This is by far the worst.

I went for the first time and fell in love! I had no idea what to order and the waitress/ hostess was so patient in explaining to me what are some of the best options for me are. She was very funny too! I loved her personality I wish I remembered her name! The food was great, I liked their garlic naan and I got a vegetable and 2 chicken dishes. I forgot what they were called but I loved all of them... Totally got my Indian food fix. I can't wait to go back there again!

To die for. This place was so good, my family and I had to come twice in the course of our 3 night vacation in Seattle! The expression "To die for" has always confused me. I've always wondered how a meal could be so good, that one would decide to die to eat it...well, I understand now! On our first visit, we weren't expecting much, we were just hungry after a long, traffic congested, drive from Vancouver. We ordered some Naan bread, butter chicken, and chicken vindaloo. The naan was great, as was the beef vindaloo, but the butter chicken was TO DIE FOR. Perfection in a dish is the only way to describe it. Perfect mix of spicy and sweet, chicken was of great quality, and perfectly spiced. I've eaten a lot of Indian food, and I can easily say that Mayuri's is the best so far! If I had the money to do it, I would buy tickets out to Seattle just to satisfy my craving for their butter chicken! 5/5

Son & I came for Sunday buffet.. Restaurant full, so all those people can't be wrong, can they???? But...... Took 4 or 5 minutes to get seated. Got up to the buffet. First dinner plate on top was dirty, so we took the next two plates. Indian butter chicken was in a big rectangular pan... Stirring the serving spoon all through the pan 7 or 8 times yielded ONE tiny piece of chicken--- the chicken was all gone-- just Indian Butter sauce! I took some biryani rice, white rice (the butter chix. sauce was good on the rice); some saag vegetables, naan and a curry. Just okay. My son liked the Tandoori chicken, I did not. I found several chicken bone pieces in my biryani, saag, etc. After 5 minutes, no one came to fill our water glasses-- we noticed a water pitcher nearby, so my son helped himself-- in trying to fill our glasses, realized both were dirty, food spatters on them. He grabbed two new glasses... one of them was dirty too. Yuck. I reached for a covered white container on the table to see what condiment/sauce it held.. UGH! It had grime and food spatters on it, so I didn't want to know what was inside. Son thought that maybe 20 minutes after our 1st trip to buffet, the butter chicken would have been replenished-- NO! Just sauce, no chicken to be found in the huge container. Place was dirty! Service was slow. Food was "okay"... I wonder what all those people were doing there..... I won't be back, sorry! I had to pee, but hated to see what their restrooms looked like, so just headed home!

It's hard not to give it five stars. The only reason I'm not is because I would frequent this place before the management changed and liked the previous manager and staff better than the current one. However, it's still very worthy of a great review. The staples - butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, naan, etc, are all very good. This place is a bit on the creamier side, and if you like that, like I do, you'll love this place. If you like creamy curry, get Malai Kofta. I get it every time I come here, and when it's good here, it's the best curry I can dream of. When it's only an okay malai kofta from Mayuri's, it's only amazing, as opposed to the best ever. Oh and the buffet is good and the people are good and blah blah.

What a great experience. We came here on a bustling Saturday night. It was very busy but we were seated right away, no reservation! We came in at the right time because there was a pretty large group of people waiting just a few minutes later. This place is tucked into a a strip mall on NE 20th. I'm new to the east side and would have driven right by this place without realizing it. The outside of the restaurant doesn't really speak to the quality of food waiting inside. My boyfriend is gluten-free which made ordering a some things a little more challenging but we are able to compromise. Except with the naan. I needed naan. We are both Indian food novices but the spices in the air put at ease any apprehension. The Samosas are really flavorful, 2 come to an order and are pretty standard size. I could have eaten both. The mango lassi was really delicious; not too sweet and not too tart, a good combination of the two and despite being lactose intolerant I drank half in almost one gulp. The pain afterwards was worth it. For appetizer we ordered murg haryali kabab. It comes out on a cast iron plate, fresh onions and then on top the chicken, thigh meat I think for all you health conscious. Sprinkle some of the lemon juice on top of the chicken and you've got yourself a super tasty dish. The coriander and mint were exceptional. He got the lamb curry while I got the butter lamb. A generous bowl of rice is served with each dish but for consolidation purposes we shared. There's something about Indian rice that is perfection with the curries. I don't know what it is but keep that stuff away from me. I will eat the whole bowl. The lamb curry is just a little spicier than the butter lamb. I love spice but was really happy with my dish. Both had an exceptional richness and were so filling that even bf had to ask for a to-go container. He never does that. Ever. I enjoyed the garlic naan very much. Since he's gluten free IT WAS MINE! It was chewy and a little crisp and really addictive. But, trying to not stuff myself stupid 1/2 of it went into the to-go box as well. It made for a perfect midnight snack.. I think it was 3 am but close enough. Next time we will share a dish and save room for dessert, they looked really exceptional. I was drooling looking at the dessert pictures on yelp and slightly disappointed I didn't exercise more self control to try any of them. Lesson learned.

So much better than the larger Bothell location. There is a reason there is a line out the door for the lunch buffet. Yum! My only gripe is that the buffet only has 1 side, so the line moves slowly. Service is appropriately attentive. I ate so much butter chicken, naan, tandoori chicken, and other wonderful and fresh tasting dishes that I nearly needed to undo the top button on my pants. Can't wait to go back.

The employees are racist. They will treat white americans differntly than others for lets say Indians. On our adjacent table; there were white guests who had leftover foods on their table; the server offered them to pack it on to go boxes; but they didnt treat us in a similar manner. How can they treat customers differently?

One of my favorite spot when I'm craving for Indian food. Their lunch deal is pretty good and I always leave feeling super full and satisfied. The buffet itself is not that big, but it has enough options for you to choose from. They have vegetarian as well as meat dish, my favorite would be their lamb, packed with lots of spices and very flavorful. Service is generally pretty good, I haven't had a bad service here.

Dinner review. Mild spicy food ... Love the fact that all the item had there spice level as there original. Malai kofta is must try. The best We ever had around the area. For desert must try mango kulfi. Service was good, attentive and timely. Mild and cozy ambience.

I used to work across the street from them and would go eat there twice a week for their lunch buffets. They knew me by sight (Good customer service!) and the food was always top notch. This was the restaurant that got me hooked on Indian cuisine and I'm consistently comparing others to Mayuri and Mayuri is usually better. Chicken Tikki Masala with naan and rice = hearty comfort food.

This is a really good Indian restaurant; my wife loves the masala dosa. On an 'odd' note, the last time we were there, the guy sitting nearest us was taking the tiny spoon from the chutney jar and putting it in his mouth, then back in the chutney jar. They aren't one-use jars either (they have the little fitted lids that cover the bowl & spoon); they go back, are refilled and passed back out, you can tell by looking at them. Over and over, into his mouth, into the bowl, ewwwwwwwwww.

This is the best Indian food in Redmond, hands down. The lunch buffet was absolutely amazing. Everything was better than the next. I cannot recommend this place enough. Go for the buffet, it ends at 2:30 and get your fill on these amazing dishes.

Best South Indian fare among several choices within a half mile of each other in the Bel-Red/Crossroads area. Great box lunch special - $5.99 for a heaping container with several courses from their buffet - choice of veg or non-veg. Spice Route and Upupi Palace are both good as well, but Mayuri is the one I'd vote for if one of them would open a branch on the Seattle side of Lake Washington.

LOVE this place. If you're a fan of indian buffet, definately check this place out. They have a great selection and the food is awesome. Avoid the lunch crowd on the weekdays because it tends to get busy fairly quick. I always leave satisfied and with a food coma for hours, but it's well worth the pain. :D

My new Favorite Indian restaurant! We both had the Chicken Tikka Masala dinners, the flavors where tantalizing to say the least. You won't go home hungry that is for sure. The service was incredibly friendly if you're the type to make conversation, we had a chance to speak with the owner and he is a true testament to the American dream! Needless to say Sarah and I will be back often.

Delicious Indian food! Tasty dosa, idli was decent, sambar was tasty. I got the mayuri chicken boti. The chicken was tender. My friend got the tandoori chicken and it was the BEST Tandoori chicken I've tasted in a long time. Chai wasn't my favorite but my friend loved it. Service was excellent! Very friendly and quick to refill drinks and check up on the customer. I give it a 4.5. Only bc I'm Indian and compare everything to my mom's food ;)

Nice Food, clean somewhat crowded - good - I have had better; however, it rates in top tier. I ate tooooo much. Got Curred away! OMG! BURP!!! Parking lot sucks, too small spaces unless you have a real compact car. Trader Joe's next door, get the Digestive Enzyme Pills and drink a little warm water slowly. BURP! LMAO

We are proud to have such a fine Indian restaurant in Bellevue! Without a doubt, this is a place we take our guests there for some good food. Our favorites are the Chicken Tikka Masala (superb) and Lamb Saag (extraordinaire). The rest of the items are good too. 3 homemade sauces are abundant and excellent. Their rotis are wonderful as well. From time to time, when you have a slightly bigger crowd, The Tandoori sizzling plater is and excellent starter, in fact, works great as one the main courses. They have lunch buffet too but I'd rather go for our favorite dishes.

This place is my oasis for Idlis - plain and simple. Lately I've been showing up here weekly, simply for the Idlis, and sambhar. The coconut chutney is good but could improve to the standard of the other two - freshness being the most important thing for it. Overall, food is surprisingly good - my expectations were admittedly low when I returned here after many years. Naans are pretty good and so are the curries. One time I got Curd Rice on the buffet, which was awesome, but it went missing after that. If you want the best South-Indian food for miles - and yes Crossroads area included ;) - this is the place!

i met a friend of mine at Mayuri 2 nights ago since i yelped it first and decided to give it a try. we ordered off the menu, i tried the lamb in spicy curry and my friend ordered chicken curry. bottom line the food is delicious! the naan bread is addicting. the price is spot on and you get plenty for what you pay for. the restaurant could use some updating, maybe a good steam clean on the carpets? i couldn't help but notice the red felt holiday bows in the dining area - i doubt those ever come down. but hey, i went there for the food so honestly, i would recommend to all my friends! yay!

This place beats the crap out of ANY Indian restaurant in Seattle. The buffet is the best I have had since living in the Bay Area, hands down. Brisk business and people of many backgrounds came here. It's Zagat rated, I noticed, and having tasted it I can see why. Expect a wait. Worth the trip. Note the business is also associated with Mayuri grocery store (see my review), a bakery, a video store, AND a travel agency! They know what they're doing.

Oh my lord. I spent a year living in Sri Lanka and traveled a little in South India, and I have been on a quest to find good SOUTH Indian food around here. It's ridiculously hard to do! But Mayuri fulfills all my South Indian cravings and I leave here at a waddle after stuffing myself so full of dosa, idli, vada and curries that I can hardly move. Its the only time in my life that I wished I lived closer to Bellevue.

portions are great, ambience & service is great (although they will be moving to redmond). i get the feeling they don't try, because they're kinda' at a place where maybe they don't need to). plates & silverware are worn if those kinda' things bother you. butter chicken is always great.

This place is awesome. I have tried every restaurant around Redmond and Bellevue areas , this one stands out!!! Best lunch buffet in town. Awesome food ,good service, attentive staff except for the waiting area which happens to be very clumspy rest all stands out. Butter Chicken anf Tandoori are my favourites.

Really Good! Traveling in the area and found this place thanks to fellow Yelpers. I was here for dinner and I found many of the same good qualities that others have mentioned. Great food & good service! I had Veggie Samosa, Garlic Naan & Chicken Tikki Masala. Everything was really good, the Chicken Tikki Masala was deeeelish! Very aromatic with the right about of spices. There was A LOT of garlic on the garlic Naan-- enough to Keep vampires away for weeks! Don't eat it on a date night, you'll choke out your partner in the car on the way home - lol!

This place has a lot of good reviews but my experience here was aweful. The restaurant though closes at 930PM on Sunday. We went in around 915PM. Instead of turning us away, they welcomed us in. We were requested to order quickly which is understandable but everything from ordering the food to the checkout was aweful. When we ordered the food, the waitress did not know what the "currey of the day" was. She said it is what it is. How come a waitress who works at the restaurant doesn't know what the speciality of the day was? She was probably a relative of the owner because otherwise, I would fire her right away for her attitude and lack of knowledge. We did not get water refilled in our glasses and when we try to order extra food (sambhar for my dosa), they said that the kitchen is closed. The food was not that bad. It tasted ok nothing out of the ordinary. I think that they should reconsider their closing time and provide the same level of service to guests that checkin before the restaurant closes as they do to guests that come in early. If 930PM is too late for them, they should perhaps close the restaurant at 830PM so that they can serve the guests properly. I am not impressed and will probably not go there again. I would go to Kanishka in Redmond instead.

I really want to give this place 4 stars, but there are so many better places in the greater Seattle area, it begged to rest my tally down to 3. Lunch buffet was really good, really. With an abundance of choices: butter chicken, saag paneer, lamb biryani, gulab jamin, ras malai, chicken tikka masala, etc., but the atmosphere could have been a little less grundgy -the carpets a little cleaner, the bathrooms cleaned up a bit (a lot). If you're hungry for Indian food and are looking for an inexpensive place for a buffet lunch, this is is the place! If you want something a little more upscale and well polished and let's face it...cleaner, I'd keep searching.

Ok, I'm obssessed with Nann and Curry. I can't believe that CitySearch or those Picks of the year don't even know crap about good Indian food! My sis says go to Mayuri for their butter chicken. It's delicious! OK, I say. I'll give it a try. We ordered Ginger chicken dinner meal, Chicken tiki masala dinner meal, and Butter Chicken dinner meal to go. The meals come with naan, soup, sides, and veggie curry. Honestly, it's a lot of food for your money! However, how's the flavor? I couldn't tell the dishes apart. You're asking me how can you not? Well, I couldn't taste the ginger. I didn't know which was the butter chicken either since I've never had it. At Naan and Curry, the meat is marinated and you can taste the herbs and spices in the meats. Here, I feel that the chicken is grilled and then ladled over with sauce. A nice restaurant and friendly service.

This is a simple review. This restaurant is very convenient for me to hit during lunch. I recommend you go early, as it gets very packed with hungry people. They are there because of a large variety of pretty tasty food. Not the world's best Indian, but still very satisfying and tasty. I'm salivating right now picturing the Lamb Keema. That is all.

We love this place! We came here for the first time after one of my friends at work recommended us this place. The buffet is fantastic! Everything is soooo good! The only drawback is that every time we have lunch there, we feel full until the next day....great service and great food!

This is regarding online ordering only. Ordered food for 5pm pickup using their online system. 5pm was the earliest pickup the system allowed. Arrived at 5:12pm. Order not ready, said they needed 5 more minutes. 5:17pm order still not ready. Order finally ready at 5:21pm, 21 minutes after promised. Their excuse? "We don't open until 5pm." Well, then don't allow your system to allow orders before you are able to deliver. A lot about creating a positive customer experience is about setting proper expectations. (I'm from out of town, so this was especially frustrating since I had an "Uber" car waiting for me with "meter" running.) Imagine if I had actually arrived at 5pm!

We walked in here for dinner and this place looked aunthentic. The decor made you feel like you were stepping into their culture and the lighting was a little dim for a romantic setting. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and I loved dipping naan into the sauce! The taste was rich and creamy and the portions are manageable if you have quite an appetite. I just ordered a la carte so I just got the chicken and rice, but for a couple more bucks you can get a full course meal with some appetizers as well. The staff was friendly and quick to accommodate for us - we were a group of six and they combined tables for us to sit together. When we got one tab, they split the bill for us by request with no complications. Because of food and service, this is definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I've been to. I would like to try their buffet sometime if I'm ever in the area again!

this is my first review and I had to write one for it. They think being one popular restaurant around the area, they can let all the arrogance flow in. Had pathethic experience when were served with half cooked chicken tikka. The owner was like "let me ask the cook if they are really that bad" seriously ? No apologies. We didnt get the order replaced, but were then even charged for it. !! She then tried to avoid us by getting into the kitchen. We called her out, and she apparantly had another check ready. So was just giving a chance if she could get us to pay for it. No apologies again.

The food was tasty and they were great about seating us at a table that had enough room for us (2 adults and an 8 week old). Service was OK but it cost them a star that they completely spaced the Sprite I ordered -- at least it wasn't on the bill either, but forget it if you want a soda here. At least they're good at keeping the water glasses full. We went a la carte; too much food in the "some of everything" full dinner choice. But we did each order a separate naan; the keema naan (ground lamb) is my favorite, delicious! The throbbing loud fiesta music that the presumably Mexican dishwashers like is only audible when you go to the restrooms in the back of the restaurant, and I loved the culture clash. They do a thriving take-out business which makes for a crowded little lobby as people wait for take-out orders and for tables. Oh well. The menu is broad and all three of the dishes we had were tasty; the best chicken tikka masala I've had in a long time, so we'll be back.

We ordered the wrong things! :( S and I did not love Mayuri, but it's probably our own fault. We were in a chicken kind of mood. We got chili chicken (also known as chicken 65), chicken pakora, tandoori chicken, and naan. I hate to curse it, but the chili chicken was very "Panda Express"-esque; in case you have not read my other reviews, this is not a compliment. The chicken pakora was dry and boring, though the portion was generous. The tandoori chicken looked wonderful on the platter, but it was incredibly salty and not very juicy. S and I were so parched for the next few hours after we got home. The basmati rice and naan were delicious, though! The service was decent, nothing stood out in my mind. I would love to return and try something different though, such as a dosa... and no chicken next time, either! I blame myself though... my *veg* friend recommended Mayuri, so I'll have to veg it up next time!

I ate at Mayuri again last night, and throughout the meal I thought that if I were on death row and had to choose a last meal, the chicken tikka masala from Mayuri would be it; and then I could die happy. I have eaten here several times, the food, service and atmosphere are consistently fantastic. I haven't had much on the menu (because the chicken tikka masala is just so good, I always want it!), but I had the pleasure of eating at their buffet a couple weeks ago, which affords the opportunity to try several dishes, and they were all delicious. I'm not sure what they do to make the food so amazing, but I have a sneaking suspicion it has something to do with butter... Best not to question it! Sidenote: when they do buffet-style, it's a bit different from normal; once you're seated, just hop up and grab food, and when you've had your fill and are ready to leave Indian food heaven for the real world, just head up to the counter to pay.

I went here this past weekend with my family. Going to a new Indian restaurant always worries me, since spices and food quality vary. However, I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered Chicken Tikka Kabab, Vegetable Samosas and Garlic Naan. The food itself was excellent--a tad on the hot (spicy) side, but, hey, it's Indian food! The waitress switched one of our meals, so someone got an extra, extra hot meal when they ordered extra mild, so that was a large disappointment. The food didn't all come out at once, which was annoying, and the restaurant was SO cold. I usually am never cold, but I had to run out to the car to get my North Face! The interior was nicely decorated, and then servers were nice. The noise level was really unacceptable, though. The couple next to us were talking REALLY loud, so that got everyone else trying to talk above them. The phone kept ringing and ringing, and it was quite piercing. Even though I could pick this place apart, I really don't want to because the food was so amazing! I even got to enjoy leftovers, which were just as good as the first time! Everything had a lot of flavor and was cooked to perfection. I would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the environment--maybe I just came on a bad day. I'd definitely come back and give them a second shot, the food was SO tasty.

Best Indian Buffet in Seattle I've managed to find. Not as good as the places I've been to in Philly & NY, but definitely close. Still need convincing, they also ave a location at the Commons on MSFT campus that is just for Microsofties at lunch time.

Homemade Indian food like your mom used to make... If she was from India. I have the fantastic benefit of knowing a friend who is a great cook from India so my taste for Indian food is quite picky as a result. Both north and south Indian food superbly made, authentic and not americanized at all. The atmosphere and decor are well chosen, in addition to the background traditional music. Highly recommend madras coffee with poori. The menu selection is great. Try something new.

Where: right next to Trader Joe's, Bellevue First impressions: strip mall restaurant; not much to look at; cross your fingers. Service: Okay Food: Now we're talking. It's enjoy-every-bite good. Just don't compare their lunch buffet food with hot-off-the-stove dinner fare from somewhere else. Apples-to-apples, their lunch buffet is the best around the eastside ($9), and in the evening, Mayuri widens its lead. We've eaten at Mayuri several times with about a dozen other people, and besides all the good comments, I've noticed that a). they don't talk about other Indian restaurants while they're eating at Mayuri and b). after everyone says they're stuffed, the last few bites of lamb or chicken get eaten, and after that, the last creamy tablespoons of sauce get scraped out. What's to like: I would start with the butter chicken ($11) and any of the old reliables that feature sauces like curries or masalas. Actually, before you start, they start you off with pakoras and three excellent sauces to get your juices flowing. If you like tandoori meats, theirs are moister and more tender than I've found anywhere else. The only section I've tried once and then stayed away from is the Biryani entrees (less meat and sauce than their other entrees). As an omnivore, I shall abstain commenting on their vegetable entrees. If memory serves me correctly, throughout most of India the killing of animals is unthinkable. This must surely elevate the status of vegetarian food, so I'm going to let the experts evaluate that part of the menu. Missy Laneous: Take a metal tray, rather than a plate at the lunch buffet. You'll be glad you had every last one of those divided sections. If you're a spice wimp, order a mango lassi. They help put out the fire and the Mayuri version is a great drink.

Every night I dream of their dosa. It's all I want in life. AMAZING! And I love that they have a place at the Commons, too. I'm all for the Mayuri empire!

We love, love, love this restaurant. The Chicken Tikka Kabob is excellent, moist and flavorful. They serve it with a side of the butter sauce (a tomato-creamy masterpiece) which is spot-on. My husband recently tried the Dal Mahkani thali and it was the BOMB! One of the little dishes that came with it was the "curry of the day" and dang if I didn't forget exactly what it was. But whatever the name (something Dal) it was the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. Ever. The food is sometimes inconsistent, but they make up for it. For example, I ordered the veg biryani and it was too spicy for me to eat. They took it back and took it off my ticket, no problem. Their Chai tea is delish, and the closest thing I've found to street tea in South India. I loved it so much, I got one to go. Also, don't miss the desserts. The Rasmali (sp?) I had was perfect. Three little patties of (what the hell is that? cheese? pastry? whatever, it's great) soaked in a spiced milk sauce. It sounds disgusting if you've never had it, but it is excellent. The vermicelli dessert is wonderful as well, but I'm partial to the Rasmali. The service is what you would expect from a strip-mall Indian restaurant. Pleasant but distracted.

The food here was good, definitely spicier than some places I've tried. The price was also quite reasonable--we ordered the Thali dinner and you get plenty of food. Though I didn't eat one, the dosas and samosas that I saw other people eating looked very good. My only complaint here was the crying/noisy children. This place is casual and people obviously don't mind bringing kids.

Went there with my family, having heard a lot of good things about this place. I found it salty, greasy, boring, Americanized, Chef-Boy-ar-Dee Indian food. And somewhat overpriced for the Bellevue-Redmond border region. The sanitary standards at this place are, to put it mildly, relaxed. To top it off, my daughter projectile-vomited her greasy dinner. Yuch. Never again.

Very good food and nice sized servings. I went there years ago when they first opened and back then they were even more awesome. They are still very good. I will go again.

I can not even begin to explain how AMAZING this place was. I mean seriously, I have had quite a bit of Indian places but this by far is one of my new favorites. I will visit Washington again just to eat here. The service was a little slow and the beer a little warm those were the only eh points other than that - Huge amounts of food and all of it spot on and tasty. Going next door and dancing around and Rick Rolling Trader Joe's customers and all the employees just topped it all off!!! So so so yummy!!!!! This food causes inspiration.

Love this place. My daughter and I have been exploring Eastside restaurants for the past year, going to all the higher-rated places listed on Yelp. We've now settled on Mayuri as our favorite. Great menu, excellent food, huge portions (we always seem to over-order), fair prices. And really good, courteous, attentive service.

Ambiance- ok but definitely not fancy. In fact, the bathroom is a little sketchy. Food- very good. I was not aware of the issue with the health department, that aside, the food was good, nothing outstanding but tasty. Service: some of the folks are very attentive and sweet, some others leave much to be desired. This last visit- a young lady who came to our table to get our order and one more time, when we called her over for our check.

Horrid place! Smelly place. Lousy service. The food is hit or miss. Visited this place last night. Boy did I live to regret it! We ordered an appetizer, a couple of vegan dishes, and sodas. The sodas arrived after ten minutes. Another thirty minutes later, the food still hadn't arrived. Repeated requests with the server yielded mumbles of "checking" and "few minutes" alternatively. We eventually left after paying for drinks, and picked up pizza from Trader Joe's next door.

Can't beat $7 lunch box to go! Sooo much good food and way better priced than a lot of asian places around the area. Came with butter chicken, rice, 4 pieces of naan, and two other kinds of chicken dishes. I'm so full and it was soo heavy when i picked it up :)

    (4)
  • Jen A.

I went once just for dinner and thought it okay. Now I work in the area and go to the lunch buffet about once a week. It's wonderful with a large selection. AND the selection changes. They have the standards always: Butter Chicken and tandoori chicken, naan, rasmalai (spelling!? Sorry!), rice, salads. Then they usually have some type of saag, some type of daal, some type of pakora, veg masala, and about four other rotating dishes. It's fun to try so many different things.

A face stuffing good time! Food: 4 Value: 4 Ambience: 4 Very good quality food.... Lots and lots of it, as in all you can eat. I went there for their weekend version. I love their goat with bone is great, it's got that gamy taste that I like in goat. All the dishes are pretty well executed. Solid food, solid price, solid all around.

I get the vegetarian lunchbox to go once in a while, and the staff is always very friendly even though I rarely ever tip for take out. One of the staff goes to the buffet and fills up my vegetarian lunchbox since I am not allowed to do it myself. Naan is always excellent, and the curries are average to great. The lunchbox has enough for at least 1.5 meals, so this is a great deal. Prices for regular menu items are a bit high for this kind of establishment.

Great place to go to if you work at Microsoft main campus (I work at building 41 which is literally down the road). The lunch buffet is great and if you go in the evening, try out the veg thali with paneer tikka masala.

  • Dean L.

Pretty darn good. The dinner works a little bit differently from other Indian restaurants I have been to. Instead of bringing out a big bowl of basmati rice and a big bowl of the sauces to the table (ideal for sharing), Mayuri brings out everything neatly arranged on individual plates. Much less messy and ensures the wife and I get the same amount, but it is a little bit more difficult to snitch each others' food. Still, great food and good service. I would recommend getting the meals; the leftovers can make an entire dinner the next day! You could also share a meal between two people - it's enough food.

Can't believe i never wrote a review for them. Absolute best place to try flavorful Indian food. Warning this is not for first time indian food samplers (food is spicier). I have left this place every time in food coma. Non-veg: Andra chicken, Butter chicken Veg: Saag is THE BEST, Appam with coconut chutney. As i write my hunger level is reaching higher and higher.

Hostess was awful. Loud, obnoxious, treated the other employees very poorly. Out waitress was nice. We ordered chicken tikka masala, vegetable korma, and garlic naan. VERY disappointed. Wasn't awful, but we have had so much better in Philadelphia and Estes Park. They used minced garlic from a jar on the naan!

When I hear of buffets, I usually shy away. But not Mayuri-- seriously, everything was really good. The buffet itself is quite small, but they pack in around 15 dishes in a little corner with all the hot dishes piping hot and fresh. They continually refill the dishes so you're not scooping out leftovers and the servers are extremely nice and welcoming. The food itself: butter chicken, tandori which was fantastic- bright red & warm, green spinach-like dish (I forget what it's called, but it's awesome), white rice and yellow seasoned rice, fresh baked naan, eggplant curry, vegetarian curry, fried caulifower, some kind of fried and sauced chicken, chickpea salad... Sauces/condiments: they offer this cool silver tray that separates all your sauces and curries, which is pretty awesome. They have a hot/spicy curry-like sauce, mint green one, yogurt and around 4 other ones I don't see commonly in Indian restaurants. The great thing is you can try a bunch of Indian dishes aside from your typical chicken tikka misala and buttered chicken at just $10/head. Great food and service. Totally legit Indian food with nice Indian owners :) I'm sure their food has to be up to par since a lot of Indians were actually eating here (Hello Microsoft around the corner). The only thing I noticed that they did not have was samosas but I imagine fried food doesn't keep as well in a buffet so it's all good. Other than that, there is definitely something for everyone here. Delicious indian food! Lunch is $10/head for all you can eat. Parking is easy. Located in a plaza.

Excellent food and service. If you are looking fir authentic south Indian non-vegetarian food - look no further. I generally avoid buffets but found their's to be so good that I went two days in a row. Avoid the butter chicken here but try everything else. The biryani is the best that I've had at a restaurant in America. You'll have to go to Andhra to get anything close.

Mayuri must be one of the favorite places to have lunch for MS employees and people from other tech companies nearby. It's not a huge restaurant, so it gets really crowded for their lunch buffet. The buffet is REALLY good, too. They use a lot of cream in their dishes so if you're ready to get really sleep after lunch, you should go to Mayuri.

    (5)
  • varsha s.

The food's great and the price is cool too. The menu is very versatile, you have options for both north and south indian food. It's very reasonably priced too. I love that they have the thali option - you get a really generous portion of food with a great variety: one entree of your choice, the veg curry of the day, dal, sambar, raita, rice, two huge naans, papad with chutneys and dessert. Totally great value for money and if you want the same variety you get at the lunchtime buffet but without the crowd.

Please Stay Away from this place We ordered Food to pick up an hour before and we had to wait a extra more half hour when we went to pick up our food and the food is so bad they are just fooling around destroying the reputation of Indian food The Chiken Biryani dish they make it so bad that anyone who tries it here for the first time will never have it in life Please look into what food you are making and manage more effectively... my sincere advice would be look for something else if you don't want to mess up your appetite, palate, flavor craving for Indian food

Food is OK. Damns watch out for servers, they are worst kind I have come across. They have no decency to ask or greet customers. They are rude and mean and real don't care about you. Avoid avoid...there are decent restaurants with decent staff with minimal courtesy. Do go there if you want to feel unwanted as you eat.

We are Mayuri regulars, and I have to say - it's our go-to Indian. We frequent the place enough that we have managed to whittle down to our standard three dishes that we order time and time again, and they are consistent winners: Mysore masala dosa Chicken Tika kabob Saag Paneer Their brunch is quite tasty, but definitely takes a back seat to their fantastic dinners. The only reason that I'm not giving them a Five Star is because, while I think they are fabulous, they aren't quite to that "Oh my god I'm going to pass out because I want to roll around in this food" level. You aren't going to go wrong with this restaurant, and I have to say that the food here is consistently better than most other Indian restaurants in the Seattle area.

I'm not from India, but I love Indian food. I've been all over around and this restaurant is in my top 3 list. Food is fantastic, place is clean, staff is attentive. During lunch, it's open buffet, and you can eat as much as you want for a very moderate price. Totally worth it!

Been eating here for years as well... some good dishes and others, not so good. They are very very very slow in here people... so if you are in a hurry.. forget it. I have never had their buffet either.. so that may be fast because it's all there. I've only eaten here for dinner and it's always been slow. I like incense, but this place lights TOO MUCH incense and it's make it hard to enjoy the meal when I need to go out for some air to breathe! So.. I get take out orders now because of the strong incense smell. Also.. not so friendly.

I ordered.... Hmmm... Don't remember. I think it was tikka paneer. I drove from Lake Stevens to there because my friend loves this place. Well, when I pickup my order, the portion was..... too small & definitely small for the price. Flavor was good but I don't think that I will go back just because the portion was too small. May be I will try buffet but not any time soon.

Thus far Mayuri is one of my favorite places for Indian food. The naan is good, the chicken tikka masala is good and the dosas are just plain fun! The pakoras are good too. I don't like the raita and my gf thinks it is too spicy (for raita). The sauces that come with the pakoras are great and varied. Make sure to ask for the tamarind sauce if you like tamarind sauce. I haven't liked the samosas here. The lunch buffet can be cool as you can try out different things. I like the Lamb Kima (I think that is what it is called.) But, it is best in really small doses (hahaha not dosas) as it is very rich. Once they had saag paneer out and it was burned. That was gross. But, that was only once. Service? Well, I've not had great service here, actually. When they had this restaurant on Queen Anne the service was absolutely excellent. I like some of the paintings in the restaurant. However, it is soooo busy it seems as if it is getting a little ragged. It can be quite loud as well so keep that in mind. As for take out, well, call ahead for sure and then make sure to check your order yourself.

I came here for a weekday buffet lunch. Overall, the food was good. I missed the raita that usually accompanies an Indian buffet. It seemed like some of the dishes were a little dry. On the plus side, the sauces provided were excellent. The spicy dishes were marked, and they were not afraid to be generous with the spices. I would have no problem coming back.

We were visiting from california and were in the bellevue area and thought of trying the buffet lunch .The food was so so as compared to the restaurents in the bay area. Well me and my wife like spicey food .The food was hot but not spicey Some of the items were plain bland. The naan was just luke warm and not too many choice of vegetables. We are vegetarians so did not try out their non veg food. The rice was ok. The lunch buffet could have been better with some decent sweet dish instead of the regular vermicilli or rice pudding.

We had ordered a Togo pack of Naan, Vegetable Korma and Veg-fried rice. The Vegetable korma had only potatoes and Frozen corn , edmame a few pieces of frozen beans and carrot. The vegetable we had ordered was not even enough to eat a single naan. The veg fried rice had absolutely nothing in it. We just couldn't eat . We went to bed frustrated thinking that it was waste of money and didn't even fill over stomach. It was the most horrible food I ever ate. I was soo frustrated with my second bad experience at Mayuri, i felt that I should write this review.

Delicious lunch buffet! You get to carry around a metal prison plate and fill it up with lots of delicious options. My favorite is the Chicken Makhani. Coming at lunch is a great time because they're always cycling in fresh naan.

I'm not sure if everyone is smoking crack on here that rated this place 4-5 stars or the restaurant was out of their normal food so they just went next door to trader joe's and served me their chicken tikka masala because this place sucked! The only reason it gets two stars is because of the chicken quality (breast meat, no fat) and the naan was good. The chicken tikka masala on the other hand was the WORST I've ever had. It was watered down and tasted like the flavor profile was, "Indian food for white people with no taste buds". I will never pay to go here again.

I will admit we went there on a busy Friday night, but still the service was unacceptably poor. A few of my friends were already there when we got in, and had also ordered appetizers. When we joined them no one came to check on us. I had to signal to get some attention after 10 minutes (I find doing that rude, so I normally don't do that). I ordered Dosa to start. A while later the appetizers my friends ordered were served. The Dosas were somewhat empty, there was very little filling in them, but they tasted fine. Then came my order, which was really disappointing. Once we were done with the appetizers, the waiting game begins. We had to repeat the same signaling routine to get the attention. I order peas with paneer with rice, and my friends order their own entree. It took ages for the food to be served, and we were already talking about how we didn't feel like eating anymore. in the end the portion was pretty generous, but the taste wasn't the best. Peas and paneer was OK, but the rice were a complete let down. Not going back.

Best Indian food around! The lunch buffet is wonderful. It gives you a chance to try things that you normally wouldn't order from the regular menu. I've found some awesome dishes this way. This restaurant has been there for as long as I remember. Service is good. Food is awesome!

Best Indian food on the Eastside. Lunch buffet daily. All is prepared and tastes as it should. With a large number of Indian restaurants popping up, my Indian friend chooses to eat here. I'd take that as an endorsement of authenticity.

I have not eaten at Mayuri for several years and since I was on my way back from a concert at Crossroads I stopped by. It was average at best and the tandoori chicken my daughter got tasted like someone pour lime juice on it. I will not be coming back for dinner although would consider lunch if I still worked in the area. Disappointing.

We just got back, and man are we satisfied! Dinner was great, we all wish we had room for more. The crepes are outrageous - not being Indian, we needed a little demonstration from a neighboring table on the best approach for eating one. We will be back. Great meal. The place was full on a Saturday night - maybe not a huge surprise, but in this economy very few places are doing very well, and the crowd was overwhelmingly Indian.

Had lunch there today but didn't eat at the buffet as I love south Indian and the buffet was all north. I had a special off the menu which includes masala dosa, sambar, idli, and a vada. They were all excellent. I took an uttapam to go and it seems that it came with rasam - these were also exceptional. I could taste the spices in everything and the food was fresh tasting. Best south Indian I've had in the Seattle area.

Had dinner here for the third time in a few years, and resolved to never return. Waited 45 minutes for our meal--saw countless takeout folks served before us, and a table that came after get their food 10 minutes before us. It's not like we ordered anything hard to prepare: lamb curry and chicken tikka masala "dinner". There was very little lamb in the curry, and some of it had so much gristle I couldn't get it down the hatch. My husband gave the tikka a yawn, and wasn't impressed with the "dinner" sides. Skip this place--Nann and Curry in Renton and Bangalore in Issaquah are much better.

Excellent Indian place with good atmosphere and delicious food. We ordered some lamb samosas that were big and crispy. Naan (both regular and garlic) were OK. Thick and soft but not the best I've had. I had the mutton biriyani as my dish. First, how often do you see mutton on a menu? Lamb is all over the place but mutton? That alone adds at least a half point. It tasted great, too. Flavorful. Not dry. And plenty of it. Waiters were informed and attentive, not in your face though. Menu had plenty of choices so I'll definitely be back later.

Good, solid Indian restaurant...service is pleasant and the prices are reasonable. Decor is a little dated, but they're not going for the Style Award...will be my 'regular' for the east-side.

I'm not a big fan of Indian cuisine, per se (I'm pretty much a steak and potatoes kind of guy, as you could probably figure from my photo plus the fact that I'm a Kansas hick), but this place is an excellent lunch spot. The lunch buffet, while a bit pricey, is excellent. There are plenty of options, the atmosphere is laid back, the service is good (of course I consider good service to be staying the heck out of my way while I eat), and the red chicken (not sure exactly what it's called) is awesome. I told my wife if she ever learned to cook that, I would never leave the house. The bread pudding is also excellent. An Indian co-worker of mine introduced me to this place and I must admit I am a fan. Five stars.

Mayuri is a fairly decent Indian food restaurant. While the decor and the service is nothing to rave about, some of their dished are quite good (Gobi Manchuria, Rava Onion Dosa etc.) Their takeout servoce is BAD...they take a VERY long time to get the food ready and even when you reach there at their indicated time, food still takes another good 15 minutes to be ready.

This is the Indian restaurant we go to the most. The food is good and seems to be authentic. There are always lots of Indian people there eating. The wait staff is so great. We have 3 kids and they never make us feel like we are not welcome. The waiters even go out of their way to make kids have fun! The kids love the "orange chicken" with rice, and I especially enjoy the lamb samosas(which are also a bargain at less than $4 for two). Highly recommended!

  • Mw C.

The food is delicious. I love the dump(chicken) biryani. It is offered every other Sunday. One observation for dinner is that one of the waiter. I think he is the manager, not sure, he only gives attention or asks how is the food to people that are not Indians. He can be rude some times. The owner is very nice and greets customers no matter who they are. For this reason I am giving 3 stars. I think that waiter should greet customers no matter what is their background.

2 stars is too generous, and certainly more generous than their portions. I got the chicken curry dish, and 2/3s of the 'meat' was all bone ends. By the time I finished gnawing the meat off the bones I felt like I should be the dog UNDER the table, rather than a patron AT the table, and after putting all the bones back on the 'meat' platter, it was - quite literally - two thirds as full as when it arrived. The flavor was not bad, the price was too high, and I can go to Kabab Palace on 152nd and NE 24th and get nearly twice as much food - with flavor every bit as good - for nearly half the price. Highly NOT recommended!

This is still my crack. I dip everything i eat here in a giant cup of sambar. Mmmm, sambar. I'm a little disconcerted by the fact that they were shut down by the department of health or something, but you know what? That s!@# ain't gonna stop me

I am truly a lover of Indian food. I could actually eat it every day of the week and I would be fine for life. But alas, that is not possible so I settle for about once a week. I have eaten every lamb dish, paneer dish, and chicken dish that this restaurant has to offer and all of them are delicious. I've eaten a ton of Indian restaurants in my day and this is one of the best. I will say though, the service can be a little hit or miss. Either they're jumping down your throat to see if you're doing fine or they completely ignore you. Odd? Yes. But the food makes up for it. Try the Paneer Tikka Masala or the Lamb Korma. They're my favorites and I'm sure you'll love them.

My family and I come here frequently on weekends for the lunch buffet. There is always a good variety offered, and while some dishes are rather spicy (it is a SOUTH Indian buffet), if you sample a little bit of everything on your plate first, you can find out what works best for you. My daughter and I are big fans of their dosa, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, and fruit custard, which are frequently available. My partner is a lover of spicy foods, and especially enjoys their bitter eggplant, which is both (to me) unbearably bitter and rather spicy to boot. It can get rather crowded around 1 and 2pm, better to try them around noon on weekends.

This place is great if you work at Microsoft - its really close by and has reasonably priced buffets. As far as quality of food goes, it isn't the best. Not the worst, just very standard fare, nothing exceptional. The best dishes I can recommend (as a vegetarian) are the black dal and the paneer makhani. The naans are pretty fresh and good.

Okay I'm a big fan of this place. Last week I ate here four out of five days for lunch. I love Indian Food and seek it out wherever I am. I've had good and I've had not so good and this is one of the best places that I've been too. I work for Microsoft and Mayuri has a branch at the Commons and this is where I got to know their food. It was alright at the Commons - nothing to write home about but good solid representations of the American favorites. Then one of my staff said he wanted to go to the actual restaurant. Boy was I hooked. The food there was way better than what they serve on campus. Not sure why but since it is only a short 5 minute car ride away I drive down here. If I can't find anyone to come with me then I go by myself. The buffet changes each day. I must worn you that it is very easy to over eat when you come here. The food is amazingly delicious. I have had to exercise self restraint when I eat here. The Palak Paneer and Butter Chicken are probably the best I've ever had and as I mentioned earlier I eat a lot of Indian and do so all over the world. Everything else is amazing as well. If you enjoy Indian food then this is the place to come.

This restaurant is absolutely delicious at dinner time! It is my favorite restaurant in fact at the moment. Their lunch is not up to par with their dinner. Compared to other Indian restaurants however , they are well above average beyond a doubt! Great restaurant, great service!

We ate here on 9/16/09. The food is very good. The spices are well done and the variety of food is great. I loved the cabbage rice! I have been eating Indian food for years and that was new for me. The butter chicken was good, the spinach cream dish yummy. Lots of choices and everything was very good. People were nice and friendly too. Reasonably priced and everything you need is on the buffet line. Next time we may take a box lunch at 5.95. Excellent!
