A bit expensive compared to other Indian places. They expect a tip for self service!! The pav bhaji tasted like its from the frozen readymade packet.. Nasty. Bhel puri and chaat is good. There are better places...

Been here a fair few times after my initial review and things have improved. Their thali is top notch. 2 sabzis, a dal, 2 rotis, rice, salad, raita and a dessert for $9 is absolutely brilliant. Everything is fresh, pretty authentic and tastes great. They always change the sabzis so it's rarely redundant. The Chole Bhature are also really good and the portion size is massive. The chats are kind of hit and miss. I feel the papdi chaat is really good as is the samosa chat, but the dahi puri, pani puri and some of the others just don't seem worth the prices. Overall the food here has really improved and if you get the right things, you will be very happy. We frequent this place even though it's a 10 mile drive from Seattle and will continue to do so. Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in Bellevue/Redmond.

Pretty good food served here. Menu is confusing to me and when it's busy I feel like you need to know exactly what to order. Everything is good - I've trued it all:) Convenient location with good parking. Clean tables and large open seating area.

If you are looking for Indian food that isn't the standard (curry, masala) then you should check this place out. They have items like pani puri and drinks other than mango lassi. I only tried a drink, it was good and I'd like to come back to try the pani puri and some of the other items. The place was large and very clean. Many tables or booths to choose from. Judging from the (Indian) clientele I would think this place might have some pretty authentic tasting food (again that isn't the standard punjabi food that most places have). The staff lacked energy and personality.

The rating is 3.5 stars. The food is still fresh and authentic after about 10 months of their operation but their prices are creeping upwards. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer them over the 3 locations of Chaat n Roll but I have my fingers crossed that they don't cut corners like their competitors. The gobhi (cauliflower) stuffed parantha - an earlier favorite was disappointing this time - smaller in size and thinner and hardly any filling. The side of yogurt was plain too. The price is still $5.99 but it's no longer something to write home about. Pav bhaji and Papdi Chat are still good at $5.99. The price of meals or thalis has increased, maybe as they're serving them in disposable trays now. They are quick and they keep the place clean, that will keep customers coming but I wish they would not skimp on the dishes. If you're Indian and haven't tried them, you have a treat waiting for you as their flavors are on point. If you're not from India go try some authentic Indian street food.

Bad quality food!! They used to serve good fresh thali food but their quality has gone just downhill. We noticed the diff few weeks ago but thought it could be one off and we continued coming here but now its consistently bad. Rotis are old, curries are bad in taste. They used to serve on steel Thalis but now in plastic. Reduced the amount of curries. I ordered chilli paneer roll and they made it without Paneer. Really!! Wow!! And no apology too when I took it back. They were taking me for a ride. Roll filled with just cabbage. I understand mistakes can happen but plz at least accept the mistake. Apologize to your customers. I had thali today and have been throwing up since. Not coming back again!! Never ever!!

Rats...another Indian place that didn't work out. Strike three.. Very hopeful because it had the name Chaat in the title. But the menu variety is very underwhelming. Not many chaats at all. I know this is a regional thing, but we were really hoping for dosas as well. No dosas but they do have overwhelmingly greasy parathas. They show up at your table with a pool of oil on top. But I guess that's not enough oil for some because they are also served with butter to add on top. Umm no. Next time, we'll know better and order the kulcha (which is apparently baked not fried). Overly greasy parathas are one thing (they are fried after all), but the thali plate is a joke. Sad, sad excuse for a thali and it cost $11. Since you are getting a whole paratha with that, I suppose it is worth the money but only if you like fried bread. The rest of the thali plate was completely uninteresting. Another thing they don't have is sambar, which along with dosas, is the one Indian dish my husband and I can't get enough of. So no sambar, no dosas, not much chaat. Best thing we ordered were the hakka noodles (for the kids). Those were nice and garlicky although again a bit too oily for my taste and lacking in vegetables. This place in no way measures up to Chaat N Roll (downtown Redmond location). The food there was far superior. Very flavorful without drowning in oil and their hakka noodles were also better. Plus you can get dosas. And chaat. Lots and lots of chaat.

I found myself in Bellevue and I was feeling snacky. So I pulled up the Yelp App and when I saw the word "Chaat" I made a beeline for this place. First of all, this place was crazy packed on a Friday night. There were lines to order, lines of people waiting to pick up their food, and even though there were rows upon rows of tables and chairs -- seats were hard to come by. You enter through the door on the right, walk up past a station where a woman is making Puri's right in front of you. The menu is mounted on the walls in front of you and the whole set up is fast casual - resembling a commissary or a mall food court. While everything on the menu is roughly $5, it quickly adds up if you want enough to get full. Andy and I ordered a plate of Dahi Puri, a Samosa, and two Gulab Jamun for dessert. The Dahi Puri was the most disappointing of them all. While normally our favorite chaat of pretty much all time, the Chaat House did not do it justice. There were only a handful of Puris slipping around our plate, they were basically completely empty (they normally have cubed potatoes inside), and they were DOUSED in a too-thinned yogurt sauce. And there were no Sev on top! It was as if someone was offering you a giant 4 cup salad and offering you a wilted singular piece of lettuce in its stead. You have to eat it quickly, otherwise the thin puris will start disintegrating before your eyes. The Samosa was great though. Nothing too noteworthy, but delicious, filling, cheap and fast - especially when you don't feel like going through the process of making them at home. I just love those chutneys. And the Gulab Jamun. Dense and perfectly saturated in that sticky sweet rose water syrup, it was and always will be the perfect way to end any meal. We'll be back to try the Thali, and the Pani Puri next time and to give the Chaat house another try.

This place has turned beyond ridiculous. I don't even care if they had truffles for $1, you wont catch me in this place. The service is the worst i've ever had in my life. They take a ton of orders only to leave people wait like dumbasses with food in their hands because ALL the tables are taken. And don't take me wrong people take the tables no matter how dirty they are. In case you are wondering they are still very dirty! If you ask them to make it take out they take another half an hour to go looking for a table for you. Poor management, disastrous service, and mediocre food. Stay away!

Came to Chaat House in a hurry. We called at 2 to see if they were open, since there were no hours on yelp. Turns out they have split hours. They close at 2:30 then reopen again at 5:00. In a mad dash, we crossed the bridge for some chaat. Seriously, we practically ordered the entire menu. Between 8 of us, there was a lot of food and plenty of leftovers. Now, I think Chaat House has a lot going for it, but could use some improvements. Yup: 1. I love how organized they are. With lines of people out the door the majority of the time we were there, it keeps the line moving quickly and efficiently. 2. I also like their color theme. The green and orange keeps things looking bright and clean. 3. Speaking of clean, their kitchen is impeccable! I love that all the staff wear gloves and uniforms. Show me more: 1. Even though we practically ordered the entire menu, some of the dishes were good and some were great. Nothing was "great" across the board. The chole batura, ghobi manchurian, raita, gajjar, and pav bhaji were some of my favorites (in that order). I feel like if they having tons of choices, they can't focus on the food they do best. The salty lassi was delicious! The bhel puri and chai was lackluster. 2. There's only one register and 54335435213534303402800 people waiting in line. Even though they are quick and efficient, the line could move much faster if they had more than one iPad and someone to take order in parallel. 3. The tables are set up too close to one another, it's hard to squeeze though without bothering the people at the other tables to pass by and get your food from the front (if you can even find a seat, that is!). 4. The menu doesn't have pictures or descriptions (and repeatedly blinks) of everything they serve. Being an ABCD, I had to look a few things up on Google to remember what was what. 5. Not cheap. Expect to pay close to $20 for two dishes. For chaat/snacks it's a bit pricey, but for a meal it isn't. The batura to chole ratio was waaaaay off. I loved how fluffy the batura was though. While good, I'd probably come back if I was craving chaat or was in the area. I'll be back but probably wouldn't go out of my way from the West Side.

Sad to see quality deteriorating so much at this once, best chat place in Greater Seattle Area. I used to eat 3-4 times a week at this place but now don't feel like coming here. Though food quantity and quality is reduced, it is still one of better places here. Feedback for owners - please maintain quality, don't take your customers for granted.

I totally love this place! My husband and I come here almost every day after work and have our papdi chaat (which is super duper fresh and so yummy!) and chai. We love their samosa's too. The chili pakoras were also very good. *drool*

This is my first time at this venue, I was there last night, and luckily I went there with my Indian friend whose very familiar with everything, to what he claimed to be a North Indian food, as he is from the South. Supposedly they don't make or serve the similar type of food. It was a bit too spicy for me, but I had a ok experience, regardless. The food were sold either by 2 selections of platter choices, and the rest were sold individually at a very high price. Nothing was less than $5, everything listed on their menu IS over $6! The reasons why I rated 2 stars: #1: when I sat down, the place we're empty, assuming it wasn't rush hour, and there was a family sitting by the entrance, which come to find out, they were the owner's family. With kids running around, screaming and crying, while the parents didn't even bother minding the child. In any other places, you'll lose customers in a heart attack! If they're the owners, they should really reflect upon their audience and customer's dining satisfaction. #2: when we sat down, I found 2-3 of the tables not being wiped clean, even on a non-busy time of the day. As all of the employees were standing behind the counter the whole time we were in. They were all too busy being on their phone, and the one cashier, she's either new, or she's just super oblivious, all she did was stood behind the damn register as a friggin statue & keep glaring at the owner's family table. While she/they could've 1) wipe all the tables clean. 2) straighten out the seats and tables. 3) check the bathrooms to make sure it has everything stocked. 4) straighten out the foods and make it look as presentable as possible! 5) STOP staring at diners the whole hour long, while standing behind the counter! You guys could've at least stop by the table to ask, how's everything or is there anything needed? I get it, it's not a sit down order, as you dine. But, just a courtesy of your minding the customers' present is always a plus! One small gesture goes a FAR WAY my friends! #3: as the dinner rush hour kicked in, again, the men employees were all on their cell phones, and even one was on his blue tooth hanging on his ear...seriously, right? #4: Gets better! Another employee either was told to or decided to start vacuuming while everyone in the dining room was still eating, AND the crowd starts coming in. Mind you, vacuum machine DOES NOT vacuum flying air dust! Well, that wasn't at its notice, was it? Smh! #5: Parking much? Yeah, it's a challenge! Good luck, is all I can say! Hopefully not the entire owner's family took the lot, and you have no where to park, but across the street. How does this place survive any other day/s WILL baffle the F outta me! Now, if my readers are reading this, please let me know what your own experience were. I don't have to be a culture adoptable, but it's a common sense in ANY restaurants, even if it's a non-server type of service! Perhaps the next time I go there, they either improve or they've #FAILEDSERVICE #foodporn #foodie #food #servicesucks #qualityassurance #FAILED #omg #nomore #foodfailed #pricy #DirtyDining

I ordered 2 paratha thali. $10.49 each. I was charged $28.45. As per the menu thali includes paratha, 2 sabzi basmati rice, salad, sweet and raita. I got only 2 paratha 2 sabzi for an order of 2 thali. I would recommend check bill and items in the package before you take delivery. For the first time I've encountered such forgery in a restaurant

One of the newer 'chaat' places on the Eastside. I like this place - interiors are clean and inviting, plenty of seating, lot of good variety in the Indian food, and best of all the food is pretty authentic and very tasty. Priced just right too. Especially love their paranthas and makki di roti-sarson da saag :) Another special is the Sugarcane Juice which isn't available at most other Indian places. Keep in mind though that this is an all-vegetarian place.

There have been very few times that I have tried Indian food that is free of artificial colors and extra oil, and I have visited a restaurant where the kitchen is bigger and cleaner than the dining space - Chaat house is exactly that! I rarely go for a thali but seeing their menu that mainly has Indian street food I gave it a try. My wife ordered a samosa and chole bhathure, two of the most deep fried and oily Indian dishes. Surprisingly, none of the dishes had extra oil dripping off them, the bhathure specially were evenly cooked and amazingly oil free, something that is barely seen even in restaurants or food stalls in India. The thali wasn't too spicy either and had a homely taste, again qualities that are not frequent at other local Indian restaurants. I will definitely go here again and try their street food this time.. /forgets the calories. I took out one star for the dhoklas that we did to-go and didn't find impressive at all.

Got the sev puri to go and i don't know if it was a mistake but they used the panipuri puris instead of the flat ones and they had become so mushy.Did not like it. The veggie burger too was just ok .Nothing great.

If only they had one in Seattle too! I travel for 3 hours on weekends only to eat at this place. Believe me, it's worth it.This is the only place where I eat to my heart's content and end up getting my other favorites packed. If you are looking for authentic Indian street food and main course with a good value for money, this is THE place! If you are unsure about the specials, just order Amritsari kulcha and you can never go wrong. Sure, it does get difficult to find a table here but then that just goes to show how popular it is among the folks craving real Indian food. Doesn't deserve to be compared to other Indian restaurants in Seattle serving only american version of Indian food.

I arrived for dinner at about 5:00 PM on a Tuesday night, and was the only customer present. The place filled up completely starting at 5:30, and was still packed by 8:30 PM. It's crowded because the food is good and the price is right. The $8.99 thali completely filled me up with rich, fresh, flavorful food. The food is served by servers from behind a counter; the lack of table service helps keep the price down. If it's important to you to get a seat quickly, I'd suggest arriving before 6:30 PM.

Great tasting Indian snack food. Coworkers and I went for lunch on their sixth day open. I ordered two items, aalo kulcha and dabbeli. Dabbeli (Indian sandwich) was delicious with good amount of spiciness. Aalo kulcha (Indian quesadilla minus cheese) had a freshly baked shell around a potato filling, also delicious. Definitely room for improvement operationally. The line to order was long, with only a single register to take orders. The menu lacks descriptions. Items come out of the kitchen at different times. Numbers are called but not displayed. Some items take up to 15 minutes to come out of the kitchen, but to be fair, this is also a sign everything is made fresh to order. Plus, service was exceptionally courteous. Overall, a great place for causal Indian food. But I recommend stopping by after the lunch crowd (after 1 pm).

Deducted 1 star for persistent cleanliness issues. Staff is not lazy at all...except when it comes to wiping the tables after each customer leaves. Just terrible at that and I got accidental stains on my shirt from cleaning the previous customer's mess. Also, seems like they removed the Chinese thali from the menu, which would have made them really stand out ======= Some first day/opening day issues, largely due to big crowds I am guessing. Otherwise, great to have a competitor to the nearby Mayuri snack food place. I especially like the Indian and Chinese thali offerrings, although the latter was not available today. The Indian thalis looked amazing and I wish I had ordered one. They have vegetable paneer pizzas, but those were also missing in action on opening day. The Samosa chaat that we had here was a much larger portion than at Mayuri. Hakka Noodles was definitely worse than at Mayuri and very different in appearance. Hope to visit once a week hereon and try out the pizzas and thalis.

I have been here a couple of times and never been disappointed. Amazing parantha- ek dum punjabi style. The size of parantha is so huge. I liked the annapurna thali as well. Just like home cooked food. Punjabi curry was great.

Delicious tasty, freshly made. I ordered the ANAPURNA THALI which has 3 sabzis, basmati rise, 2 rotis, salad, papad, raita & sweet treat. Very tasty. A bit high on the salt, but just what I needed.

Chaat house is ringing in customers and how! We went in as a group of four and spent about 45 mins waiting for placing an order. Once it was in, it was relatively quicker to get the food in. Before I comment on the food- that is TOO long to get any thing. They must sort out the ordering process! We had alot of items on the table, and I classify them below Lackluster: Chai, Bhelpuri Worth ordering: Pani Puri, Sugarcane juice, Papdi Chaat Must have: Gobi Parantha ! Overwhelming: Thali- too much rice, no spice in aloobaigan I did not like a lot of raw onions in the chaat. Much like Indian chaat outlets -they offer extras - even 'wood fired' pizza! reminded me of back home where even Haldiram's has a pasta counter and serves pizza and chinese food....you never know who in the family wants to eat what...! Overall, new place to try- reach there before 5:15 (they re-open for the day at 5 PM on weekend) else be prepared to spend some time gazing at the blinking menu in the queue. Go in a group- someone must grab a table too! This place will make you hum: "It happens only in India!".

I love thus place. A new Authentic Healthy fast good in a good location off 148th NE in Bellevue. Had Long line but did not take too long to get my veggie pizza, at $6.99 it was pretty good. Had tried also their fresh squeezed sugar cane juice which you cannot find it anywhere else except Chinatown . Will be back to try their many items for sure

They messed up our to-go order by giving us 2 8-ounce curries instead of one 16 ounce and one 8-ounce despite having paid for a 16-ounce. I shouldn't have to make sure I've been given the right quantities of stuff - let's put that aside as a mistake though. The chapatis were horrendous - nearly uncooked and untearable, not unlike plasticized rubber. I could patch a tire with them and they'd last years - I don't know how old or stale these uncooked rotis were but they were horrible. The dal was passable and paneer sabzi was really oily. I don't think I'll come back - judging by other reviews I must have caught them on an off day. Stay away till they improve!

Great place!!!! Crowded though and if you are a late eater ... and like to munch on desi snacks.. this is the spot. The staff is friendly, atmosphere is 'indian' ... :) and tasty enough to excite to taste buds. My favorite Chaat Papri!!'

Finally a place where we can get decent chaats and thalis. Our experience from the past 3-4 times we have been here, has been great. The food is consistently good, fresh and tastes like it is home made. Fresh Sugarcane juice is to die for! Fresh Jalebis are great too. Thali is just enough to fill you up. I would definitely come here more often for chaats. It beats all the Indian so called Chaat places in the area. Especially when it comes to the chutneys and masala in the chaats. Again would like to indicate they were fresh (unlike Mayuri, who uses the green cutney from the bottle).

After visiting this place 3-4 times, I feel very it is about time that I write a review. Lets cut to the chase, this place is meh. Things are wrong at so many levels, let me try to shed light on the important ones: 1. Their customer service sucks! The cashiers and most people working here are not friendly and wont spare a smile for the customers, not even a fake one. 2. The food is below average. Its bland for most part, with occasionally disproportionated flavors. Some dishes are too salty, while some are too sour and so on. And I have tried 6-8 different dishes, on different occasion before making this comment. 3. The prices, OMG! To be nice, lets just say they are not reasonable. And of course that is based on quality and quantity of stuff you get. Word to the owner/management: It would really help if the staff were friendly. It doesn't take much to smile and be nice. Its ok to keep prices high, but try to keep quality at par too! That being said, I wont be going here for a long time now! Hope they change, for good, when I go next.

I've been to chat house a few times with my friends and family. My first impression was that It was very crowded and there was a space-crunch. There is a lot of noise around. Thankfully, it makes up for all that. The restaurant is completely vegetarian (includes milk products) with several vegan options. So, as a vegetarian, I do not have to annoy the staff with questions about the ingredients. Many of the items arrive almost immediately (Chai, juices/shakes, some curries etc.). They have a very interesting Chikoo shake. They also offer, what I consider a pricey, sugarcane juice. The portion sizes are fairly good. For example, their Chole/Chana batoora cannot be finished with a normal appetite. They have a hygienic servicing station for pani poori too. The staff is also very helpful (they do not use the American sugary jargon though). We spilled tea by mistake and they cleaned it up very quickly and did not even charge me for that. Pricing is very reasonable - a complete meal would cost under 8 or 9 bucks for most combinations. Overall, very satisfied. The reason I did not give 5 stars is that some of their items (e.g., Chilli Bhajji) could be made a lot better.

The food here has been consistently good. I also have always come at off-peak times so have never had to wait too long. I agree with other reviewers that one time my group's food came out at very different times and it was a bit awkward...but I didn't mind too much because the food was hot and fresh. Here's a run down of the food we tried: -Paneer chili kathi roll: not bad. It was a little sweet compared to the paneer chili I've had anywhere else but the quality was good. -Samosa: pretty good. Filling was decent and the outer crust was typical of any Indian place . -Alu Paratha: really really good. The bread part was very tender and the filling was nicely spiced. This took a little longer to come out of the kitchen but I assume it is because it is very popular and tastes a bit longer to cook. -Paneer kulcha: good. it wasn't what I was expecting. The inner paneer filling was a bit dry and not that flavorful. BUT, I was told by Indian friends that that is how paneer kulcha is. I guess I was expecting it to be tender like the paratha. So this is my fault. To me, it was almost like a naan filled with paneer. -Sev poori: too flavorful and spicy for me but Indian friends said it was excellent. -Dahi poori: this one was still flavorful but it wasn't too flavorful for my tastebuds. I thought it was a bit too sweet and cold but again my Indian friends said it was excellent. They have a machine that squeezes juice out of sugar cane. I wanted to try it but it was $5.99 a glass and that is too spendy for me. I tried the chai and I'd honestly skip it next time. It wasn't as flavorful in terms of tea and spices as I would've liked it to be.

Okay I am giving it 3 stars because just like its predecessor Chaat N Roll, there are many items that are disappointing. The chaat is definitely not Bombay chaat authentic, and maybe I am looking at it through the colored lenses of where I grew up, but its not complicated to make good bhel puri and sev puri. The place for good chaat is still all the way over in Surrey across the border. I think the owner is Punjabi, and boy oh boy, the ALOO paratha is the da bomb! The portion is huge and served with a dollop of white butter and pickle and raita. I gladly denounce the raita/pickle and asked for more butter! And they will give you some without charging anything extra. Cause they be nice like that :) Definitely try the parathas, I think that's their forte, the chai was disappointing. I would love to try to the sugar cane juice but I am not paying 6 bucks for it! No way Jose.

Yikes! Bad bland food! Beware! On entering the restaurant, it was super crowded. We were told each one finds a seat for his own. I was reminded of the Indian local trains where you have to keep an eye on available seating and sort of RUSH on the first visible empty seat. Ridiculous. Finally we managed to get one. The line for food was long but seemed to move faster than I thought. We ordered a paratha thali, paneer pizza, pani poori, chole bhature, dahi puri, pani puri. ALL of the food had very less salt and seasoning. When I told this to the owner, he said he had clientelle telling that the food was very salty in the past and some people with blood pressure cant handle it, so he advised me to put salt and spices kept on the table!! I do agree with him to some extent, that doesnt mean you serve unseasoned food! The bhatura was sour. The pizza was outright ridiculous, it was pretty much veggies chopped on a overly baked tortilla and no cheese lol. Paneer paratha was so bland my God! Rice in the thali was crunchy. The carrot halwa had no sweet. Thats right, some diabetics would have complained that they cant take sweet stuff, maybe I had to add sugar myself and be happy.... The service was sloppy, by the time he fixed my thali, the paratha had gone all cold. The kitchen looked clean from a distance from the counter. Moral of the story: The restaurant needs to reduce size of their menu. For eg: Why is a chat place serving thalis and parathas and sweets? They need to get the taste of the dishes absolutely right. Next, they need to make proper seating arrangements. They should scale only as much as they can guantee quality else people would not return a second time.

This is a new and pretty crowded place, so I expected the food to be great. Typically with many ethnic, hole-in-the-wall places that is the trade-off. However, while we had to suffer the inconveniences (our family had to hang around and wait for a table for quite a while and this was before peak dinner time, probably 6:30pm), the food quality did not compensate for it. The prices are high too, like in a proper restaurant. We had many different types of Parathas, all mediocre. For $6 or more, you get one paratha piece with yogurt and pickle. Not worth the price. And the coriander seeds were too many and whole. One of my girls had noodles with gobi manchurian. The noodles were cold and the manchurian just tasted like gobi pakoras covered in ketchup. Not very satisfactory. While ordering, they suggested I try the fresh sugarcane juice. Great idea but a cup of it would have cost $6, too costly again. I'm not going back.

Love the old style pani puri. Raaj kachori is our favorite. Plenty of space. Not the best one but still better than other chaat places around. Forgot to mention always had good service.

After 4 visits to this place, I have decided to give these folks 2 stars because of their inconsistency in quality and quantity of the food. At first visit, food was awesome, less oily and good quantity was served. Later visits, it wasn't the same experience. Pani puri was a complete let down, the person serving pani puri was slow and inefficient. And only 6 puris per plate. Seriously ??? Mirchi Bajji (jalapeno fritters) were so bad, I forgot the original taste !!. Wouldn't go again unless there inst any other option.

I have been to this place several times. All the times, I found them impressive. I had here Gobhi Manchurian, Hakka Noodles, Amritsari Naan, Deluxe thaali, Chole Bhature (with spicy onion salad and pickle), Pizza, etc. All were really yummy. I will love to visit them for sure. Forgot about samosa, and their tille waali kulfi, yummy!!!! Must try!!!

If there was a 0 star option, would have gone for it for the service and food. We had called to place an order for pickup, they said, 'they don't have the "system" to accept orders'. What exactly is that system? Oh yes, it's called- GRAB A PAPER AND PEN AND NOTE DOWN THE DAMN ORDER. We decided to drive all the way to try out this new place. Queue was pretty much outside the door - no one made an effort to make any arrangements to keep the queue inside. It took me about 10-15 minutes to reach the counter - the staff was least bothered to do something about the long line; they were more interested in talking and laughing among themselves and customers. Wanted to get Chai, Dabeli, Paratha and Chaat. Chai was over- how long does it take to make and refill chai! and the lady indicated it'll take 20-25 minutes for the Dabeli, Paratha and Chaat to be made saying "we make it all fresh". I was getting impatient after such a long wait and wanted to get out soon, so asked for something quick. They tried to up-sell Lassi and Pani puri while I waited, and insisted I wait for the items I wanted. When I said I was there for a To-Go service, the lady suggested I go for a Thali and I went with her suggestion. 2 Customers who were in queue behind me ordered Thalis as well. The person who was second in queue after me apparently knew the guy working there, he simply asked the crew working on putting the Thali together to 'look at his buddy's order first'. Then the guy who was next in line approached the counter first and got his order started off; I was standing there looking both guys getting served, who were after me in queue. When I was thinking it was my chance, a lady came in to the counter asking for her Thali and the crew started preparing her Thali. I asked the guy at the counter about my order. Apparently, he had torn and thrown my order away and asked me what I had ordered. After about 30 minutes of wait , I got my 'fresh' food. I was expecting it tasted as good as they say. It turned out of the bland, tasteless and cold. The food (Prasad) at Bellevue temple tasted better than their Dal rice and Sabji. Papad had slacked off, Gulab Jamun without any syrup, hard and frozen, readymade pickle and bitter Chole. I failed to find the 'fresh food' for which I wasted by 35 minutes and 9$. Only thing I got back was an upset Sunday evening. So long to this place! Don't see it being different than Swagath, Chaat and Roll and other Chaat houses around. Same'ol piece of shit!

Asked for dairy free suggestion and was recommended a bread with chickpeas, great! 25 minutes later of being ignored and having asked twice where my order was it finally arrived. Got home to discover it was stuffed with cheese. First and last visit for me.

I was really looking forward to this place but when I finally did get to go I ended up disappointed. EXPERIENCE: It took to long for us to get our food. We ordered a parantha thali at 3:03pm on a Sunday and didnt get our food until 3:29pm. This totally ruined our experience. We brought it to the attention of those behind the counter 3 times and all we was "So sorry. 2 more minutes. " It wasnt even like they had a lot of people in line. I dont know if this has to do with the fact that they techincally shouldve been closed at 3 but then tell us that you dont have everything in the menu available or the kitchen is close. This is my husbands biggest pet peeve. If we wanted to wait that long we wouldve gone to a high end restaurant. This is supposed to be a FAST food joint. FOOD: Ehhh! TASTE-It's just alright. It was cold. I HATE COLD FOOD! SITTING AREA: Dirty. The chairs had grease on it from someone who, I'm assuming, ate with their hands and didnt use napkins. I had to get napkins and wipe down the chairs and table before we sat. Both garbage cans were overflowing with trash. They really should think about having someone go around on a regular basis wiping down table and chairs. Im just so disappointed because we really wanted to like this place. I guess we'll stick with Oh! India, Udupi or even Chaat N Roll that are all within a minute of this place.

I have given these guys a try thrice & can I say, Yikes ? As an Indian I have never tasted Indian food this bland in my life before! The food is not even subtly flavorful. Imagine chaat tasting like baby food, total waste of money. I have tried their Samosas, Pav Bhaji, Paneer Pizza, Papdi chaat, Gobi paratha (probably the only thing I liked). Very disappointed, honestly its not that hard to cook Indian food, yet most Indian restaurants in the Seattle area suck! They have a great operation going but the heart of a restaurant's success is food & these guys fall severely short in this department.

Tried pav bhaji and dahi puri. Felt they add too much masala in their food. Although, I loved the sugarcane juice as it had ginger and lemon even though it was expensive.

  • Saurya D.

Love the parathas ! Chaats are okay .. I have tried a few traditional sweets and they are good too.. But the real attraction of this place is the fresh sugarcane juice. I've found that eating at this place once a month feels good. Anything more than that you start realizing that the food is mediocre ..

I usually don't leave reviews for anything, but this place is amazing! Yes, the line is long, but that's just a testament to how great Chaat House is and the wait flies by anyways. I ordered the chole bhature and samosa. Both were delicious. I also stole some of my girlfriend's paneer chili roll and aalo parantha, which were equally as delicious. This place is by far the best indian food on the east side. And I've tried everything in the area. The space is really modern and inviting and the staff is very kind and helpful. With the amount of traffic this places gets, you'd expect it to be a mess, but it's clean and very well kept. Bottom line; if you want some amazing Indian food with a cool, modern atmosphere, there's nothing like the Chaat House. I'll definitely be back often to try the rest of the items on their menu. Cheers!

I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Chaat House for a couple of months now, so I was glad to finally try it out. Overall, its a nice place that stocks nearly all of my favourite Indian snack items but I did come away feeling a tad let down. Food: The variety in the menu is impressive - stuffed parathas, chaat, chole bhature, even a thali or two (North Indian style) and many more. We ordered the annapurna thali, chole bhature and a samosa. The chole bhature tasted great although I was a little disappointed with the small portion of chole, it was definitely insufficient for two bhature. The samosa filling was authentic and excellent and I was especially pleased with the tamarind chutney on the side. The crust was a little crunchier than I'd like but thats probably more of a personal preference. The annapurna thali was a complete disappointment for me - the two sabzis were so spicy that I could barely enjoy the meal. We also had a chance to sample the veggie pizza and I am pleased to report that it tasted delightfully Indian. Decor: I liked the spacious, bright feel to the restaurant. There is a large amount of seating that is nevertheless tight with the huge crowds this place tends to draw. Service: We visited around 6pm on a Friday evening and the line was nearly out the door. While the line moved reasonably fast, it was certainly not as efficient as the nearby Chaat n Roll, where they somehow deal with the crowds with ease. It took about 15 minutes from order to food time. The lady at the counter was very nice and helpful so plus points for that. I will probably visit Chaat House again to try out some of their other menu items. But for the items I've currently tried, I prefer some of the other Indian restaurants in the area. I'll also definitely try to visit during off peak hours.

This was the place me and my husband accidentally found...we just entered to try it once...but trust me since then there has been not a single week we have missed going there..it's been 4 months. They serve excellent food which reminds of India! We've tried majority of their dishes...pav bhaji, idli Sambar, samosa chaat..etc etc and all of it is just PERFECT!! My favorite being aloo ka parantha n you always find it crowded...morning, noon ,evening and night...Which says it all...a must go place which gives varied food options..chole bhature, thaali, hakka noodles and what not...Strongly recommended!!

The food is quite good here..esp the Thali.. simple and tasty.. one thing to be fixed here is the speed in service.. there is always a long queue and the staff is Very slow.. esp the paani puri counter..if they can fix this , I think this place will be a big hit in the neighborhood..

People of Indian origin , if you are really missing crowd only then please go here ! We went at around 6:30 on a Saturday evening and there were more people in that place than it could hold! We waited for like 15 min in line only to realize that was not even the line that led to the counter to order, that was just a line formed by people who had no clue where to order or what to do. Them we realize there is no queue to order food and get to the counter. They give you a small piece of paper with a number written on it and later one of the staff with shout out the number each time one of the items in your order is ready. It is one of the Most disorganized places I have seen. I was expecting the good to taste amazing after seeing the crowd there. Unfortunately, the food did not taste great! I would say it was alright. I was very excited to eat my paranthas, but there was no salt or any spice in it. We were unable to finish the food and trust me if we had ordered the same food in India, I alone could have finished it all, here we were 3 of us! Lastly, if you have anyone old with you who needs a place to sit while they eat, please do not take them. I would suggest you take the food to go. The places is too small for the number of people it is attracting. There is no place to accommodate so many people. I hope they at least put those high tables where people who do not get a chair to sit can at least stand and eat their food.

Not sure what the mixed reviews are about. If you want a good variety of chaat dishes at reasonable prices, check this place out! I highly recommend any of the puris, the chole bathura, or samosa chaat. Everything I've had from those sections of the menu are fantastic. Maybe we're having a better experience because we come during the week? It's never crowded, but not empty either.

Great authentic Indian food! I don't know what other reviewers ate that they described as "bland" because I thought the food had great flavor and the perfect amount of spice. We tried several things and my favorite dish was the Chili paneer. Will definitely be coming back for that! Delicious samosas as well. It was also impressive to see they make their own fresh sugar cane drink. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends.

It was out first time and we ordered chole batoore and pani puri.. Both were good.. But could have been better.. The place was a little conjusted and noisy.. The parking is also a little tough to get as it gets pretty crowdy in the evenings.. But it's a good hangout place to people like me who badly miss golgappe and chaat.. Gonna visit again!

Food is pretty decent. It's unusual to find good indian home like food here in US. I usually take anapurna thali here which is the closest to home like meal that I can find around here. Earlier there food quality used to be inconsistent, however they have improved lately and food tastes evenly good. Cutting one star for their poor service. Esp during the weekends when there is lot of crowd, they take unusual amount of time to do simple packing of food. They more often than not end up serving people out of the queue.

Best chat experience in Seattle area. Big fan of their parathas and samosa chat. Don't miss out the sugar cane juice. Not sure why the drinks are so expensive.. But taste was awesome. Info Chinese dish Gobi Manchurian was also great! Kathi roll was a bit dry for my taste.

Excellent Indian snack food. The best in the Seattle area. We visited on a busy Saturday. Although busy we found a table quickly. Food was served quickly. It was fresh and tasted great. Not much to speak off in terms of ambience but this is a place you go for great food not the decor. Loved the pani puri table. The pavi bhaji was great too. Nice kulchas. Good mango and chikoo milkshakes too. We will be back soon.

  • Ojass N.

The food is great, no problem. The experience is not great at all. Noisy atmosphere, people calling numbers on a mike.. Big line, crowded tables.. I wish they focus more on the experience and floor plan to ease people moving around. A quieter, well managed place with better spaced tables would feel better. also waiting for food to_go is a bad experience. You keep bumping into people looking to throw trash and people coming from the restroom.

We tried this place the day it opened and it was terrible. Most of the chat items are tasteless and watery. Plus they throw in a ton of spice that does not add anything to the taste. We did the mistake again. We thought they had improved and went again today and ordered some chats. Most notable was the khasta kachori chaat which was completely moist/watery and cold. They just don't know how to make chaat. I guess they have employed whoever they could get their hands on, uncles, aunts, anyone who can move things around in the shop. Please avoid this place, it looks crowded from the outside and it is actually crowded. This is probably because of its proximity to some apartments in Bellevue, but the chaat items are really bad and not well made. They are expensive too. Please please please avoid if you want good chaat. There are a few other good places around, but i wont take their names since it may appear i am from the other chat places around (which i am not).

Just visited this place today which opened recently in Bellevue. I have been trying to find the ideal chaat place in Seattle and this is definitely up there. However, there is huge potential to improve as with all newly opened restaurants. First the good: 1) The place is run in a very disciplined way and the kitchen seems to be very clean. The cooks all wear uniforms and gloves. This shows in the quality of food that comes out. 2) We ordered a bunch of dishes which were on the money. The aloo paratha, paav bhaji, chole bathura, ghobi Manchurian (loved the sauce) were freshly made and tasty. Loved the pickled carrots and onion accompaniment. I also like the mango shake which was on the pulpy side. 3) Staff are courteous and professional. This is something which every other Indian restaurant in the Bellevue area lacks. If they are busy making money, they sometimes tend to ignore the customer. These guys had huge lines but were always ready to quickly render any assistance like providing me with boxes or pointing me to the water stall. Little things that make a difference! 4) The place is well lit, bright and colorful. This makes a huge difference in a place like Seattle where it can tend to get cloudy and gloomy. Potential to improve: 1) I was a little disappointed with the bhel puri. It didn't have enough sweet chutney sauce and was a bit off. I have yet to find a place that makes good bhel in the east side. The competition like mayuri and chat n roll also fail in this regard. 2) The paratha could use a better accompaniment than the raitha and pickle that was provided. The accompaniments didn't seem to hit the mark which was a pity... the paratha was so good and fresh! 3) Getting a place to sit is a nightmare. Its like trying to navigate through a crowded amusement park. 4) The order numbers are called randomly. I would suggest that the management give the customer a table number and just bring all the orders to the table when ready rather than having to stand and wait for it to be called. 5) I made it a point to wipe the table after we left for the next person but this needs to be done by the management automatically. Nobody was wiping tables. I will come back again and reevaluate the place for consistency and see if they have made improvements.

Clearly one of the worst restaurant in the area !! I have been here couple of times with friends and family, and we have always been let down. The front desk staff now is always chaotic unorganized and always seems an struggle to make them understand what we want. The quality of food is bad and indo-Chinese taste stale ,oily and sweet after which even Maggie would taste better. The food comes out slowly no matter what you order even the thali which is right there n Seems like the same food is continued next day. The rates are increasing day by day and quality is depreciating looks like they are only running for fame not quality. I am so disappointed on this place even normal parathas which I thought were good in start are now like chapaties with very less fillings and no taste. I would suggest everyone to have food at home than rather spending your money here.

First of all, the staff and the cashier, everybody is too rude, dunno which air they carry to give them this arrogance! The same ladies who work and grin in parlour next to chaat house, never ever recognize their clients as if they fear that they would ask for discounts or something! That's completely a put off! PS: if they are reading "plz smile a bit, and try to be a l'le cordial, that arrogance never helped business people!" Secondly, the order comes after waiting for a whole evening! Always the place seems noisy. The least they could do is to play some soft music to dull down the noise or at least have a token number display system where people don't crowd the counter space! Thirdly, the food is tasteless. I had parathas, believe you me, even when I was in class 5, I could make better paranthas. Then had their chaat, which was bland enough to be called chaat. Then comes their inability to customize the order. I had my parents visit me a few days ago who are jains and do not eat onion garlic. These guys in spite of being vegetarian, can't customize any food item for jains! I am never going back here, there are better options around.

Really ok food. Super crowded.. expensive.. Sugar cane juice cost 6$.. Dirty tables, though the people who work try to clean as much as they can, there are no dedicated cleaning person.. It feels like they are under staffed. I will probably try this place again in sometime at least for their kulfi...

Shocking inconsistency in food. The food was good in the starting but since then it has been a downward slide. Tried the Annapurna thali. The paneer curry was nothing but oil and water with a few pieces of paneer. Was shocked with the standard. Their paratha was undercooked and raw. After this experience I don't think I will be coming back here.

Three stars because it was OK. The vegetable fried rice lacked salt. It had chopped vegetables but not as many as the one from Mayuri Bakery. The vegetable cutlet did not taste wow just OK. They need to add more salt. Sorry.

A true taste of North India ! I just love the parantha's which are quite big in size. My favorites are Raj Kachori,Samosa Chat , Pav bhaji..chole bhature...ooh god everything ! I haven't tried the Thali yet , but i am looking forward to it :) I also liked the service (ofcourse it gets too crowded on weekends) If you want a taste of north India- go for it.

I have never been so disappointed with food in my life. I don't have much experience with Indian food and thought I would give this place a try. I asked the cashier what she recommended and she was absolutely no help. I have tried giving this place a try twice and each time, I left disappointed. The customer service is utter shit especially from the female worker with, lack of better description, a very pronounced unibrow. Never coming back.

I had originally liked the food here. They even have wood fired pizzas that are good. The reason I am giving it two stars is because last time I visited this establishment both my boyfriend and I got sick after eating here! We will not be returning and its a shame since they recently opened and I had enjoyed the pizza on my first visit! Rather go to chaat n roll

    (2)
  • Priyanshu J.

Decent food, nothing extraordinary. I had a Pav Bhaji and a Mint Chaas. Bhaji was spicier than other places that I had it but Chaas was awesome. Price is reasonable and the overall ambience is much better than Chaat n Roll.

I had been wanting to try this place for months and finally had the opportunity today. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The amount of food I received for the price didn't match up, there were black hairs cooked into the roti, and the customer service was less than stellar. The dal was decent, but nothing compared to other nearby indian lunch locations.

Really good food.. Paani puri was good.. (They are planning to have 6 different taste of pain in future). Thali had good quality food ..10 times better than chat n roll (though quantity was on lower side).. Hopping they maintain quality throughout I.e keep making it less oily n tasty as possible..!

After a couple of not-so-good attempts, today was a lot better. The food was much better in quality and had great taste. Their sweet (jalebi) for the thali didnt look good.

  • Sam K.

Taste of the food is great. The reason for two stars is quantity is small (chhole), it is hard to find a place to seat, tables not clean, loud music, all fried food, had to go around twice to find parking. Experience and quantity not worth the price. Also the menus on the display flicker which is irritating.

Easily the best vegetarian south Asian food in Seattle - can you name anything else that makes a better vada pav? Yes, the queues are omnipresent and they are a new business trying to gain recognition (so, they are not going to get everything right)... however, have you ever dreamt of a place that makes fresh sugarcane juice or has a dedicated vegetarian Pizza oven or a gol-gappa stall? I would give 5 stars for the effort, pricing and the fact that they have a fresh restaurant with a new kitchen. I would be a moron to discourage such efforts in the pacific north west because I want to see more such places... perhaps with smaller wait times and slightly more health conscious food but this is a great start! 5 stars to a better future!!!

The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet.
