Went to dinner here with my Mom after a hard day of cleaning house and taking things to goodwill. Man I needed a drink! Mom said they have good food and that was enough for me. Walked in and had a nice cowboy BBQ vide that I kinda expected. We were seated and the waitress came over quickly for our drink order.. She had a great personality and laughed at my jokes. (Note to self: tip her well!) My drink was of the alcohol verity and was asked to make it the way I like. They came through with my special request and I was becoming a relaxed patron who was about to have a nice dinner with Mom. Ordered pulled pork with all the fixings and damn it was good. Tried the many sauces at the table and they were all tasty. The waitress was never too far for me to ask for another drink or to ask if we needed anything else. So, I'm a fan because the service was outstanding, food was great, drinks were killer, and the company was one of a kind.

Pleasantly surprised. Food is good, service is prompt. Our experience was not like what the reviews are saying. The lounge is big and lively on a Saturday afternoon. We cleaned our plates!

According to several of these reviews, the varios times i have been here with my family were just good strokes of luck. True it isn't typically busy and i don't remember any incidents of having to deal with other peoples misbehaving kids. But some of us consider that to be a good thing. Although i have never gone on a sunday, and i just read a recent review that kids eat for free on sundays. Great for those who have kids. But also good to know if you don't want to be around a bunch of rambunctious youngsters to avoid sundays. It kind of has a country western theme. Service is usually friendly and prompt. Their barbecue turkey sandwich is amazing! Soft bread and tons of yummy barbecue sauce. Potato salad and barbecue beans are bomb! My only complaint is it's always freezing in there! It has been a problem for years because I had my 21 birthday there over ten years ago. I have been there since then....still freezing! Other than that though the birthday party was fun and memorable. My other experiences have been positive as well.

The food was not good. Service was friendly and efficient. Food smelled great, looked good, tasted BLAND. We won't be back.

Longhorn bbq would seem more bbq themed but the "cowboy" theme is more prevalent. (The house bbqs were not very good or unique.) The decor was a bit dark and could use a modern update. The food was ok, not really memorable though. The complimentary muffins are very soft and fluffy. My friend had the chicken, she said it was dry. I had the beef tips and a bowl of chili. Everyone at my table all said the menue was small and didn't have many options or variety.

The loaded baked potato was great. Creamy with lots of butter, cheese, and bacon. I also had the chicken salad, which was enormous, and very good also.

Gross!! We ordered the meal for two. The ribs were bland, the sausage was not much different and the chicken tasted like a safeway rotisserie chicken gone bad. The potatoes? How long have they been sitting in the kitchen, seriously!? Texas toast? Where did that come from? Costco? The beans and coleslaw were fair. And, my Sherlie temple. But, how can you mess that up? I would NEVER come back. Not even if you paid me.

Brenton is a Great Server! Very Friendly and complimented other customers as well. Our first experience was satisfying!

Food was awesome. We ordered the baby back ribs and spare ribs. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because there was a live band, and the volume was insanely loud. Like beyond bearable. We are in our 20s, and go to live shows all the time, but this was excessive and annoying. Food, service, and atmosphere was 5 stars. We left early due to the band turning it up to 11.

This place offers the very worst barbeque available. They certainly know their food is horrible and that is reflected in the service they provide. I would not be able to put up with all the constant complaints while keeping my composure either so I get where they are coming from. How do you ruin pulled pork? Really? How? Well...They have figured it out and they win the contest for the worst I have ever had the misfortune of eating. Dry like it sat under a lamp for many hours. The good news is that it is so dry you can actually use some of the dried out pieces as tooth picks. The chicken is way out of this world awful as well. This was a catered lunch where they showed up, dropped off the food and ran like hell! What a business plan huh? Had I ordered this crap in house I certainly would have not paid and left after the first bite. I have made better pulled pork on a hot plate in a hotel and that's just sad. I will never give them My business again and I will dissuade anyone from ever going there. You got my money today longhorn but that's the end of that. I figure you are a one and done outfit anyways just by the way below mediocre quality of your not at all barbecue. If you only knew the quality of earning business as opposed to ripping people off you would be better off.

I was spoiled by the operations in Spokane, with great bbq buffet and dinners, here the bar staff is friendly and a great stop at 5 pm after a movie for bar ribs at happy hour and a beer. other then that ate here once and was left wondering is this part of the chain or the forgotten operation

Place used to be very, very good got a to go for catering food was "okay" nothing memorable I used to love the chicken i now it seemed somewhat dry, tried to come again on a friday night there was NO cars in the parking lot but it was open (I called to see) but we got worried it was totally empty at 9 on a friday night and chose another place not sure if they changed recipes over the years, or different cooks maybe.. not sure the taste just isnt the same anymore :-(

Not surprised this place is getting these ratings considering what I saw. Totally dead on a Friday night. It was us and 3 other tables in a completely empty restaurant. Walked in and the place wreaked of burned toast. I took the boys there to eat knowing they love bar-b-que. They ordered bar-b-que beef sandwich and I had a bar-b-que chicken breast. What a surprise when the thing came out completely naked of any type of rub or sauce. Silly me thinking I was in a bar-b-que restaurant and there would be bar-b-que on my food. The mashed potatoes were thick like wall paper paste, and the French fries were cold and soggy. Now on to the good part. Dinner totally redeemed itself with dessert. The milkshakes and the mud pie were heavenly. Our server was also EXTREMELY attentive and was very pleasant which doesn't surprise me considering she only had 2 tables besides us. Move along, folks, move along. This place is a dive and is heading down hill.

Not much flavor on the ribs, but the sauces aren't too bad so it almost makes up for it.

What a surprise to find a BBQ in Seattle that actually can go neck and neck with some fine Tenn and even Texas establishments. Baby back ribs where the meet falls off the bone...great sauce...oh and the cold slaw...ummm. Perfect...Perfect...Perfect..!

Wish I had read reviews before going here. Boyfriend and I went last night for dinner at 7pm. We sat in the bar and the server came over and said "hi. I need id's." Super friendly greeting. We ordered drinks, both my diet coke and boyfriends kilt lifter beer tasted off, like their co2 was off. I ordered the Chipotle chicken Club sandwich and boyfriend ordered pork tips. Food took forever even tho the bar was empty and the restaurant only had 2 tables of people. Drink refills, we had to flag down servers to get. My sandwich was OK, tho the lettuce had seen better days. Boyfriend's pork tips were smoked, but tasted really bland. Overall not worth the price. Then around 11pm last night I came down with some real bad food poisoning. Probably the lettuce, or my chicken was undercooked. Either way, we won't be going back.

I decided to come in for lunch. I hadn't been to the Longhorn in a long time, and wanted to see how good it was in comparison to HD Hotspurs in Kent. It's actually quite a bit better! The lunch service was very prompt. I ordered the "Ruslter" platter from the dinner menu, because it gave me all 3 meats (pork ribs, chicken, sausage) that they offer. The ribs were quite good, smokey flavored, and they appear to have basted with their sweet sauce to the point they have a very nice glaze on them, similar to Chinese BBQ, actually. The sausage is tasty as well, and the chicken was done well, but, as another reviewer pointed out, the pieces were very small (more like Cornish game hen size). Beans and cornbread were good as well. The BBQ here seems to be of the Southeastern style, emphasizing a sweet sauce and hickory smoking. The hickory smell from the BBQ pit operation seems to permeate the place; it's not an unpleasant smell, really. The dining room is clean and has a nice 'country roadhouse' ambiance. It is well maintained, not like Hotspurs, which looks downright threadbare. I am a bit surprised by so many poor reviews. I will gig them on being a bit expensive, even for BBQ (Rustler platter + tea + cobbler dessert + tip, and I was set back about $30. But other than that, I'd go back. I do think they're one of the Seattle area's better BBQ joints.

We have been to Longhorn a few times and it is OK - you can get better BBQ at Branks or Famous Dave's but since we were in the area - we stopped. Last time we got there late and they mentioned there was a band that night and would we like to eat in the bar. The sign said - band starts at 8:30. At 8:45 we asked and were told that the 8:30 is a guide and usually 9:00 is when it happens - a guide? We noticed the band eating at 8:50 in the table next to us - do you have a job you can "punch in" and then have dinner? The also had an advertisment for Thursday all you can eat Buffet of tacos. Figured we would try that - guess we should have paid attention to the $5.00 price and not expected anything. No ground beef, no tomatoes, no sour cream, no cheese, etc. Basic taco shell and BBQ meat with salsa. Not my idea of a Taco. In short management needs to get its act together and manage.

This place was great. Took my wife and kids and the staff was great the food was great. And the price wasn't bad at all. It was also kids eat free night so that was just an awesome surprise.

I stayed at the Best Western right behind this restaurant, and this place caught my eyes because of the restaurant size and the monument sign in front of the Best Western is huge. They said they deliver, so I odered the ribs, brisket, and sausage , which came with baked beans, corn bread, mac salad, mashed potatos and pickle. I was impressed with the amount of food they give you, but not the taste. No BBQ sauce on the ribs and dry as hell, the brisket was very dry, and none of this resembled Texas BBQ when I was out there in Texas. The sausage was ok and the sides were ok. They need to work on smoking there meat better and the flavor / seasoning of there ribs and brisket. I paid good money for this meal and I through away all the meat but the sausage. I was not to happy. The meat looked like it sat in a hotel pan for hours on a hot table. I thought this place would be good judging by the big restaurant and the catering trucks they have for catering and the big Sign out front, it just looks like a successful place to eat good BBQ, but I was wrong. Maybe I have to go inside and sit down and order my food to get a good rib and brisket and not the old dry meat that has probably reached its TDZ. I was thinking about trying there chicken, maybe thats what they are good at BBQing ...Who knows. Do I dare try it again? I really want to, but dont want to waste my money. So Im giving a kind 2 stars.

Went here last weekend. 02/15/2014. I was a little hesitant due to the current reviews. This was my first visit, I'm very happy to say that it will not be my last visit. The prices were very reasonable. The food was great. I had the short ribs and my boyfriend had the sirloin steak. We were worried about making it back in time for our taxi. so the bartender was kind enough to call for us twice ( i forgot my phone). The food came out in no time, cooked the way we asked. It started to get busy and i needed a refill on my drink, although our waitress didn't catch it, another waitress saw my empty class and took care of it for me! The service and the food all five stars!!

I was told to not try this place, maybe too many people know me well. I didn't listen, and I should have. Instead of ranting on and on about every little thing, I will give you all a brief but thorough review of what we experienced. Atmosphere - It was freezing cold, the 11 year old was trying to use her extra shirt as a blanket. I would have done the same but saved everyone the sight Ham Sandwich - It was a hotdog bun with two slices of deli ham in between the buns Salad - average Corn Muffin things - not good Brisket - Actually good, tender, and a good flavor, too bad they put the sauce on top though, good BBQ doesn't need sauce to cover up mistakes Sauces - both were ok, though the flavor on the spicy one was better. But, please see above comment, good BBQ doesn't need sauce... Chicken - dry and tough Sausage - it was what I expected for a German style, not horrible, not phenomenal Potato Salad - enjoyed the flavor, but the potatoes were under cooked and crunchy Baked Beans - Bitter, yes, bitter Service - average Maybe I'm just a BBQ snob, but I don't appreciate BBQ places going around claiming to be "Texas Style". I understand the original owners of this place were from there, but something was lost in the ownership transitions along the way. Maybe one day they will get someone in the kitchen that can make some positive changes. When that happens, le me know and I will consider trying it again.

Came for lunch and had a good set of ribs with some sides and a drink. Meat was a little dry but sauce was pretty good. Overall, decent meal. The way it is set up, this place looks like a great spot for sports and live music. Must be a fun time here on the weekends with some line dancing and cowboy boots.

Came upon this place by accident while trying to find a lunch spot to take my Dad while he was visiting. Was sat quickly and drink orders taken fast. Our server was pretty attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. She even gave us extra crackers for my niece to keep her occupied. My Dad ordered the Maverick meal with chicken and ribs. My sis and I both got the small pulled pork sandwiches and they were really good. The 2 kinds of BBQ sauces we were offered at the table were both good, I really liked the chipotle version over the original. My side was the garlic mashed potatoes...amazing, and with gravy! Yumm. My family enjoyed their meals, the prices were decent for all the food we got, and my Dad's coffee was good...that was a plus. If we are in the area again, I'm sure we'll stop by.

OK, BBQ up here can be either outstanding or average, because most people don't know the different types. Happy to say, Longhorn KNOWS what the heck they're doing! They smoke their stuff using different woods, for the right length of time, and you can tell, just by looking at the edges when it's sliced how well they smoke it. You can't go wrong with the brisket, in any form, be it sandwich or just piled on the plate. The ribs are perfect, fall of the bone tasty, the chicken is perfectly tender, and the sausage (which they make themselves) is a perfect mix of spice. What's BBQ without the sides, you ask? BBQ without the sides is weak, but not here. The cornbread is soft and fluffy, and a dash of honey butter makes it even better, the potato and macaroni salads are made fresh every day, not dumped out a foodservice box, and yes, they're slightly different each day depending on who made them, but they're all delicious! Sauces? Both sweet and spicy are available, and of course, made here, and excellent. The service is quick and efficient, and if you aren't sure, ask your server as they know the menu inside and out. Best part? Open for dinner until midnight! We don't mind driving from Issaquah to Auburn for food THIS good!

Came in tonight with my son. Both ordered French Dips. The smoked beef was extremely tender and not at all fatty. The aus jus was very good and not salty. I love their macaroni salad, celery, cheddar cheese, elbow macaroni, nothing fancy. Son had piping hot steak fries, he is 12 and was happy. The only thing I felt could be improved upon was the bun, it was that Costco hot dog, sandwich would have been outstanding with a better bun. Service was fast & friendly.

  • Tara J.

The food was ok-ish, even though I wouldn't call it real Texas style BBQ as they advertise and our waitress insisted it is. More like chain food BBQ, so don't expect to be overwhelmed. The place is clean and family friendly, but that's about it. The wait staff overall is very friendly and helpful, but of course there is that one blonde whirlwind exception who was under the impression attitude makes up for professionalism.

three stars because it served my needs. I like to eat at lucille's BBQ near my house in orange county California. So if you were to compare these two places longhorn would get a single star. But since I just needed a place to serve me food and beer, it's A-OK. The beer selection on tap must not be argued with. They had some good selection. New Belgium, Kona.... shoot I am drawing a blank to the others. All I had were New Belgium 1554's. They even served the beed in the New Belgium glass. The house band was pretty good. It's a three piece, guitar, drums and keyboard. The drummer girl is cute, and the other two can sing and the older gentleman on the keys is funny. They can play quite a bit of songs as well. I will say this... but it is true at any bar with a live band, it's loud in there. I made the mistake of sitting dead front and center of the band at the bar. So if I had not been staying at the Best Western Peppertree for the weekend while in the area for a reptile show, I can't say that I would have chosen this place. If you are local to it and want to check it out, go for it. As far as food quality. I had the pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork was ok... the BBQ sauce was ok and the mashed potatoes were very good. I also had some chicken tiquitos the second night... those were pretty good.

Why four stars? Well, starting out, if you are at SuperMall to do some shopping, get hungry, but can't stomach the food court, this is a decent nearby alternative. And also, Longhorn's cornbread is divine - light, fluffy and with a hint of cake-like sweetness. What else --- oh, there is a full bar so if you want a martini with your barbecue, you can do that. But having said that, you might get some looks. This is a genuine working class and Western establishment, slightly frayed around the edges. No poseurs here, if you exclude the Yeep at that one table. In an event room next to the restaurant and visible through a window, maybe half the gents in a meeting were wearing cowboy hats. After passing through an entrance gilded with black and white pictures of other Longhorn locations, such as in Spokane, I was greeted and seated by a friendly young hostess. The waitresses were all wearing wedgie-tight jeans. I ordered the "Maverick" ($14.95), which entitled me to two meats, one side, and the delicious cornbread. The sides were nothing unusual - macaroni salad, potato salad, baked beans, etc. For meats I selected German sausage and chicken (of course, ribs are available too). I went with the potato salad for my side. I also ordered a Big Al Brown Ale. My food and brew came out extremely quickly. The German sausage was good. The chicken had been baked in a nice sauce but was just a tad dry. The paprika-sprinkled potato salad was decent. On my plate were two dipping sauces: the "original" sauce and a brighter red sauce. I sort of liked the original sauce but it was way too sweet, and so was the red sauce. The Big Al Brown Ale was quite smooth, more malty than hoppy.

I have been here five times in the last ten years and I must be a glutton for punishement because the food has always been so-so. Why in the heck are they saying that there're Texas BBQ and not offering smoked beef brisket or beef ribs? Their sign in front is a huge beef cattle head! Most places give you 5-7 choices of meats on their bbq platter this place only gives you three (chicken, German sausage, and pork ribs) The bbq sauce is so sweet I think I got diabetes eating it. To be fair the ribs and sausage was good, not great, but good. My advice/ if you want bbq there are better places close by. (Branks, Worthog, Famous Daves) And they all serve smoked brisket.

  • Ken L.

I enjoy coming here every two weeks for their lunch special. The waitress is very nice and sweet. I normally would get the 2 meat plate that gives you a nice portion of food and a drink. The rib tips are good and so is the spare ribs (nice sweet flavor), and the german sausage. The corn bread is a touch sweet which really gives it a nice feel. Overall, I recommend.

Re-rated after several more visits. I'm glad to see they've added brisket! And the brisket is pretty solid. The chicken has improved too. BBQ beans, cole slaw, and corn bread are decent, not spectacular. Service was really friendly and helpful. Overall, I'm moving Longhorn from my "avoid at all costs" list to my "solid, decent place" list. Glad to see the improvement.

My husband and I took our family of 7 out for dinner. I am a stickler for good service and food, especially with a family of 7. We had been to this place for Father's Day Buffet and it was good then. We drove from Seatac and wanted a good dinner. You can imagine how much this will cost for this size family. All of us ordered something different: steak, beef dip, pork, riblets, chicken nuggets, pigpile and the rustler. All of it and I mean all of it was so darn good. The sides of: cornbread, beans, coleslaw, potato salad and two different sauces were good also. I cannot find anything wrong with any of the food and after doing a bunch of reviews on places, this is indeed as good as it gets. Service was also excellent, really personable waiter, who was just nice enough to not be cheesy, if you get my drift. He checked on us just enough times too. Worth every cent. All I can say is, we will be back as often as we can. Excellent food, excellent experience. Loved it.

Focus on the food here.... the ambiance hopefully doesn't turn you away. Near the Supermall, this is a great place to invite a few friends and get your hands dirty. Hefty portions for the meats, not so for the sides. Decent macaroni salad, great cornbread, and the bbq beans were pretty tasty. We had German sausages to start........one request though.....please put the sauce on before bringing it out........ then the slab of ribs hit.....good stuff! What i really liked about this place was the bbq sauce.........not overpowering yet still enough boldness to keep you wanting more. Spots of toughness in parts of the ribs but oh well, wasn't enough to send them back. I'm on for another rodeo through here.

Plus - Free happy hour appetizer buffet (bbq ribs & saugage) Minus - Slow and inattentive service. At my last visit, my wife and I would run completely dry on drinks. In order to get more, we had to get the attention of another waitress so that she could tell OUR waitress that we needed attention. This happened twice. Even worse - The bartender plugged his iPod into the PA system, playing some obnoxious, screaming music. It was so loud, we could hardly hold a conversation. Is this a head-banging bar, or a place to relax and drink a few beers after work? This place lacks any form of customer service and is obviously in business to give it's on-the-clock empolyees a place to hang out, smoke and joke and provide just enough service to maybe pay for my big-ass plate of free ribs. Who knows, maybe that's their ideal business plan.

I believe this restaurant was a different establishment a few years ago, and I've passed it several times afraid to try something new. My wife and I decided to just give it try finally, and we ordered a three meat combo plate with a side salad and an extra baked potato. First of all the corn bread was excellent, and the size of the meal size was generous. Even with us sharing one plate, we ended up with leftovers. The spicy bbq sauce, could be hotter, but that is personal preference. We had very good service. I notice others commenting about the dueling pianos, but we went on a weeknight, so it wasn't very busy. I was tempted to knock back one star on the rating because the interior doesn't seem to be much to look at. It seems like a typical dive bar. However the food is very good and a great value. I had a beer and shared a meal, left fully satisfied and it only cost us $27 with tip included. That makes up for the ambience.

Decided to try Longhorns and didn't care for it much. The sauce didn't have much flavor and the ribs weren't that great. Famous Daves is way better, much more sauce options and tastier.

Stopped by midday on a Saturday, hoping for a little barbeque joint; then I realized it was a sitdown restaraunt. My wife and I decided to try it out, then realized we had tasted their catered food on a couple of occasions and weren't too impressed. Foregoing caution, we tried them out again. We were quickly seated and the staff was very friendly. Our orders were taken quickly and the food came out in a timely manner. My wife really enjoyed the cornbread, which came with a honey-butter spread, and gave two thumbs up for their chili, which was rich and meaty. I tried "The Maverick", a two entree/two sides meal. The chicken was juicy and fresh, but flavorless and the pieces were pretty small. The barbeque sauce was on the sweet side, and the spicy sauce was just jalepenos added to the regular "sweet" sauce, so neither added much to the meal. The ribs weren't as dried out as others have mentioned, but the was barely any sign of them being smoked on a barbeque, and once again, they had hardly any meat on them. The sides were nothing to write home about. The decor was dark and Western themed, also not that exciting. So, my grades are: Staff - A, Decor - C Food - C

This is like the MacDonald's of BBQ. Warmed over food that tastes completely bland. Congealed ribs that were not smoked long enough, never saw a spice rub, nonetheless reveled in it, and were then left under a heat lamp for 12 hours. The chicken never saw a smoker. Tasted like leftover roasted chicken from the Safeway deli. You know, the whole meal felt like it came from the Safeway deli. Not a thing happening in the kitchen to make you think anyone is actually "cooking" anything. It probably just all comes in pre-cooked and frozen from some chain supplier, and then they microwaved it. In 1946, this place might have been a barbecue joint. But since the original owners sold it, I think it's gone completely bad. One really telling feature - all the awards in the lobby are for their sponsorship of a softball team. Not one for a BBQ contest. Go to where the awards on thye wall are for good BBQ - Ranchhouse BBQ in Olympia. And no, I don't work for them. I'm just a fat chick who loves good BBQ. You gonna trust a skinny chick on this one?

So today was the first time I attempted to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner, unfortunately I was destined for failure because my oven broke only a couple hours after I started cooking the turkey. Trying to except my failure and getting ready to call family and tell them dinner was canceled, I decided to call Longhorn Bbq to see if they had any turkeys and dressing for sale, the lady said sure do come on down and so I did and well I was there I decided to pick up some dressing and turkey gravy as well. After dinner was complete my family commented on how delicious the turkey was and I agreed it was all amazing. Thank you Longhorn Bbq for saving my thanksgiving.

After being without "real" BBQ since I've moved here from TX. I finally found it!! I was close to ordering 1 of each on the menu but I didn't bring a big enough appetite. So I tried The Longhorn Special (sandwich) with brisket and my daughter had The Big Un with pulled chicken. Oh man this brisket was smoked and charred just right, so tender it melt like butter on my tongue. Yum! The pulled chicken was so tasty just as delicious and flavorful as the brisket. On the side we had garlic mash, bbq baked beans, and cole slaw. The mash was very well prepared and not over barring with garlic, the baked beans and cole slaw were good too. We were not a fan of the corn bread though. I've been all over texas and had the most amazing corn bread and Longhorn cornbread did not impress. But my overall fave of this meal was the Sweet tea. Mmmm!

Maybe it's the guilt I feel for cheating on Rainin Ribs BBQ but I really didn't get a kick out of my meal here. I was wiling to ignore the 1970's country decor and the obnoxious country music should the food be amazing but I was left wanting. First, they had no brisket. No brisket. Who does that? Second, they call themselves a Texas-style bbq joint and there's no hush puppies, no fried okra, no collard greens. My mom's corn bread is far superior than theirs which tasted like it came out of a Jiffy box. Their "ranch sticks" was the standard Food Services of America cheese sticks. My burger didn't stand out among others. My fiance got ribs and he wasn't moved. Well. He was but that was out of a different end. The price doesn't equal the quality so if you're wondering should you go here or, I dunno, Red Robin, I'd pick Red Robin.

I stopped in here when having to run an errand down there. I had driven by first and saw the big bull on their sign and it's called long horn steakhouse. It must be Texas BBQ. I've eaten Texas BBQ many a time and love it. My business got finished and I drove back and headed in. What does the place called Longhorn (a type of cattle) and with a picture of a bull on their sign not have? Beef. They had only pork BBQ. I have no problem with pork cue, but I wasn't in the mood for it and this is horrible marketing. It would be like Subway calling itself hamburgerland. It makes no sense. I had a look at the menu and headed north.

We left here very disappointed and my wife was actually mad at how inept this place is. We had been here before for dueling pianos and I used to get lunch here once in a while when I worked in Auburn. The food has always been OK. They have now taken a few steps back. There was not wine list on the table which isn't that big of deal but then the waitress had no idea what kind of wine they had. She came back with a list and instead of handing it to us she tried to read some of it to us. She couldn't pronounce Pinot Noir or Cabernet Sauvegnion and was generally clueless about everything. Don't you train your servers before you let them work a table? This was just a hint of what we would see. Service was poor all night with them not refilling water glasses and generally ignoring us. We ordered a prawn appetizer which was just 7 small shrimps for the 3 of us on a skewer that tasted like they were just reheated. She brought the cornbread right before our food and then mumbled something about "sorry, I should have brought this earlier". The pork ribs were tough. The steak was overcooked and really tough. There wasn't any brisket or beef ribs on the menu. What kind of a barbecue place doesn't have beef? It think they care more for the party crowd with their big rooms and the piano crowd. The don't care about cooking decent food anymore. Beef is just too much work to slow cook. Skip this place and go to Shortys in Federal Way if you want good barbecue.

RUDE ARROGANT NIGHT MANAGER AT AUBURN LONGHORN - NOT GOOD FAMILY RESTAURANT Circumstances: I arrived at the Auburn restaurant from work, intending to meet my wife and children, before an elementary school function with our children. I was coming from a long day of hard work and my wife and two children were coming from shopping. I arrived early, and went to the bar, and ordered a light beer. My wife and two children arrived about 20 minutes later. Rather than transfering my tab to the dining room, I closed out the tab so I could give the server a tip. When I took my beer out to the dining portion of the restaurant, I met my wife who was quite upset because the waitress was refusing to seat my family, stating that since they were not intending to eat (just purchase sodas or a snack), that they would not be allowed to be seated. This didn't pass the reasonableness test, and the issue was brought to the manager, who seemed to understand, and sat my family promptly. Shortly after, the same manager came to the table and instructed us to leave promptly. His statement was that the Longhorn is not a "lounge" and we are breaking rules. Again, my family was intending to purchase either drinks or some small food items, while I finished my beer, and then we would be headed off for a nice family outing to watch my daughter play in an elementary band festival in Auburn. The Longhorn ruined our evening. I am so completely disgusted with the rudeness and arrogance of the manager there. He didn't seem to care that I mentioned we have been loyal customers for a long time, dining on many occasions, and my company has catered events with the Longhorn in the past many many times. We have never been refused service anywhere for anything at any time. I am beyond upset, and will no longer continue to EVER do business with the Longhorn, nor will my company, and I will be sure to let all my friends, employees, and others know about my complete displeasure with the Longhorn.

Last time I went here was a couple years ago. And the reason I haven't been back is because that was the worst experience of my life (besides Red Lotus) The ribs were under cooked and dry. The rest of the food was less than mediocre. And they seated us in the back with a nice lamp full of dust above us. I mean thick dust which landed in our food. We asked for the manager and he said, "Oh, I didn't even know it needed to be dusted." Really? You don't clean this place at all apparently. And that is all he said. He didn't apologize or anything. When you haven't dusted for so long must have been years and it is now falling in your customers food you have a freaking problem. Unless they figured out how to BBQ and learned how to clean I would suggest to NOT go here. Who knows how the kitchen looks.. YUCK!

Just like it says... "Meh. I've experienced better." Ever since Ive seen this place, I wanted to try it ! It lured me in with the sign that read Southern Style BBQ. HELLO! Im a southern girl and I will eat anywhere that will give me a taste of home. Ugh! What a disappointment! We ordered the "Rustlers for Two" the dish cost about 28 dollars plus tax. It came with 3 meats chicken, ribs, and German sausage. Along with 4 sides. We chose bbq beans, mac salad, steak fries, and Texas chili. The chicken was good, I enjoyed it! The ribs were very hard to get off the bone. And the German sausage was okay. The bbq beans were okay, the mac salad was plain, the steak fries were cold, AND the Texas chili was AWFUL! The ready made canned chilis you find at the grocery stores taste way better. I almost forgot about the cornbread with honey butter, it was okay. I ate 2. I liked the honey butter alot. We went when they had comedy night so that was pretty cool. Would I eat here again? Probably not.

I'd say 2.5 stars, but I'm a perpetual round-downer so 2 stars. The service was alright - I would say just barely average, nothing special. The food was the same. My date and I came here and shared the combination platter for two. It came with chicken, ribs and sausage. My first piece of chicken was actually pretty good, the second one was so dry it was like trying to swallow needles. I actually had to take a drink of water to be able to swallow it down. I was stupid enough to try a second bite drenched in BBQ sauce and it did not help very much. The ribs were pretty tough too, I went to bite off a piece of meat and a big crunchy piece of meat came off with it. The whole experience was a little disappointing. I did like their sweet tea. For $30, it was way over priced. I would say the meal was maybe worth $20. Oh, my date really liked the sausage so maybe that is their redeeming quality.

People come for the BBQ, but stay for the Dueling Pianos that happens on the weekends. The food is pretty good, I usually stick with their beef brisket sandwiches, and baked beans, its pretty rockin. But the star of the show is the Dueling Pianos that they start at 8pm (9pm for 'adults'). Basically two piano players take requests (make sure to send some money up there, or the requests will not happen), and the piano players start playing some great songs, and end up with much audience participation. Hopefully you go with a big group of friends, and make sure you call ahead for reservations, this spot is busy!

The food here was excellent, but the wait was extended. We waited over an hour for our food, and then the waitress told a member in our party that the item he ordered an hour ago, had sold out. Even though the wait was long, the chicken sandwich I ordered was excellent. We were a part of a large group, that might have been part of the problem. Will definitely give them another chance if I am ever in Auburn again.

WOW......their hot bbq sauce was so weak.the pulled pork was dry and has no flavor.the overall ......food was luke warm, sauce is weak, and the only thing to look forward to was paying the bill so we could leave. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!

  • Elaina G.

We ordered the combo and the chicken was SO dry! The skin was inedible. The sausage was ok.... Then they charged my $14 for my tiny tiny 2 oz martini! I can understand paying that much at a swanky place in Seattle but come on! If the waitress had only told me my drink was going to cost that much I would have never ordered it. My husband and I rarely get out and the only reason we chose Longhorn was for something different - something GOOD! ... What a disappointment!

Friendly helpful staff and good food. Complimentary corn bread biscuits as an appetizer. Good local beer selection along with the regular favorites. Plenty of food for the price. I would have given 5 stars if the bbq sauce was better but still pretty good.

So disappointed in the service at this place. the gal in the bar that waited on us was extremely rude. I was there with my Husband and 22 year old son. she asked for ID's and then immediately said that she would not take my son's because it was vertical. he simply stated "you took it last week when I was in here:" We were going to just go into the dining room to eat (we really were not there for drinks anyway) until she continued to argue with him, we got up and started for the dining room, until she made the comment " you have a good night there, buddy" . we left the restaurant and will never be back and I am letting everyone that I know about the awful service. she did not even try to keep us as a customer or offer a different solution. she is a short small blonde who told us that she is 33 years old and had been doing this job for a long time. I have eaten at this place before and it is crap. I would much rather eat at CAVEMAN. don't waste your money.

Yay! I'm a fan of: 1. Longhorn barbecue. My beef was perfectly cooked and the bbq sauce was a wonderful accompaniment. I also had the German sausage which could have been a bit juicier, but it was very good too. 2. Dueling pianos. I think that the two guys there last night are better than the pianists at Chopstix. Really. Dueling piano sets are pretty canned. If you think they are taking 100% requests, you are kidding yourself. The Longhorn pianists (heh, that makes me giggle) have raunchier songs, and they do this hand jive to Joy to the World that kicks ass. They embarrass more patrons (totally funny), and they are way more playful than the chopstixers. 3. People watching. The Auburn nightlife is....interesting. I am not a fan of: 1. Driving to Auburn. 2. Driving to Auburn. 3. Being in Auburn. But if I were forced to spend an evening in Auburn, then I'd go straight to the Longhorn for bbq and dueling pianists (hehehe that word is so funny).

  • Mollie T.

Cant say I have had an actual meal here. I have had there shrimp and of course their yummy fries. I go for the dueling piano's and the atmosphere at night. I have been to 88 keys and I personally think the guys at the longhorn are way better. Just make sure you bring cash for request of songs and get there early. There is not a lot of sitting room after about 8pm. Another big plus is that it is the same crowd every week.

As a long time fan of the original Longhorn in Airway Heights, Wa, I was excited to see the restaurant come to the west side. Expected the same great meats and sides with the signature sauce. The only thing that didn't disappoint was the sauce. Both the slaw and potato salad tasted like they came out of a tub. The pulled pork was dry to the point of crunchy. Visit the original east of Spokane if you want to know what this should be.

This meal was on 1/22/11, and I *miss* the location (grungy as it was) in Pioneer Square. Located at the former Andy's Station in Auburn, Longhorn does good, but not great, bbq. Of course, for GOOD bbq, you've got to visit the South...the NW is at best second tier. That said, The Big Jim sandwich with german sausage drowned in shredded beef brisket is great, and the service was fast and friendly. Never had anything but good service at either location, and to the "grazer" who thinks it's ok to bring a herd of kids into a restaurant, in the middle of a recession, and suck up ten or twenty seats during dinner hour...y'all are mighty self-centered. Folks are trying to make a living, not run a charity, there. Go here for a good filling meal.

I'm mad I did not read the reviews before I ate here. I've never had Texas BBQ before so I'd thought I would give this place a try. The ribs and chicken were extremely dry and looked to be days old. I'll never eat here again. Improvements needed desperately.

WONDERFUL - "Longhorn BBQ is Wonderful!" - 'I have read a few of the reviews and I think that they are really PETTY!!! - ie. "beef brisket not on the menu..." - my answer is 'BUY A 'Ronco' BBQ'ER - ie "corn bread are decent, not spectacular..." - my answer is 'BUY A 'Ronco' CORN-BREAD-MAKER' - the detractors of this fine restaurant are really "dull" - in fact - I wouldn't doubt that they are actually associated with other BBQ Joints in the area - this happens all of the time - "The thermometer of success is merely the jealousy of the malcontents." - my family is never tired of eating Longhorn BBQ - we never go into any BBQ anywhere to eat anything other than PORK RIBS and Longhorn BBQ makes the best PORK RIBS around - bar-none - I came from the Detroit and have eaten in hundreds of BBQ's places around the USA - Longhorn BBQ holds it own - I now live in Woodinville and whenever I am at I-405 exit 2/167 interchange ('RAIN OR SHINE') - I make a special trip to the Longhorn BBQ for the 4lb PORK RIB to-go-pack - IT IS A REAL BARGAIN!!! - it is a gigantic amount of RIB'S for a very fair price - when you stop in - be sure to introduce yourself to Micheal Jordan/Manager (he's the guy who looks like Dave Chappelle) - Micheal always makes things right!!

I've been to Longhorn's several times over the past few years. I've lived in Texas for a year and the BBQ here is nothing like Texas BBQ. We ordered the rustler for two and the ribs and chicken were dry and lacked flavor. We tried to salvage the meal by adding BBQ sauce but it didn't help. We also ordered the steak chili burger to try something new. It was AWFUL! We ended up sending that back to the kitchen. Our meal ended up being steak fries, potato salad, and corn bread. Based on this experience, I doubt we'll return.

We started off with the shrimp appetizer which was pretty good. Their ribs were hard, and the chicken was also dried out. The hot dogs tasted so bad that the kids wouldn't eat them! We should have listened to the Yelp peeps! Lesson learned.....not returning as a customer.

We arrived at the restaurant around 1600 for an early dinner. Now being a native Texan does not make me an expert in BBQ, but I DO KNOW more than most about my BBQ! The food tasted ok, but didn't blow me away. We had the Rustler For Two (26.00) which consists of choice of 3 meats, 4 sides with cornbread included. We chose BBQ beef (though I was expecting beef brisket), pulled pork and german sausage. Our sides were potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans and green salad. I did not see a fresh green vegetable offered so started with a green salad and it was no frills. Simple iceberg lettuce with shaved carrots and whole carrots, couple sliced tomatoes. The potato salad was just ok, kinda mushy but taste ok. Macaroni salad again just ok. The sides were nothing to remember, basically. Now to the meat.... I suspect we got left overs from the lunch run because our BBQ beef was heavily presauced with whole slices of brisket mixed in, some of it really leathery as if it had been well over cooked and warmed for many hours. The taste was ok, but true BBQ beef shouldnt be swimming in sauce, not leathery and tough. The pulled pork was moist and tender with good flavor. The german sausage had great flavor, but was a bit over cooked and really dry. We were so hungry, we didnt complain. The cornbread was ok, nothing special. (wanna see the meat? Take a look @ the pic...I took it.) All in all, nothing really stood out as spectacular. Will I eat here again? Probably during heavy patronage to get fresher meats and update my review. If I had the choice and lots of free time to drive, I would bypass Longhorn BBQ and head up to Seattle for Jones BBQ. Now THAT man knows how to make some BBQ and he doesnt have to hide it with sauce to make it taste good. All in all, ! give Longhorn a 2.5 stars and a second chance in the future.

It was ok wasn't GREAT, I've had better. The macaroni salad and the coleslaw was bland... The pork ribs were not falling off the bone, however the cornbread and honey butter was good... All in all I won't be dying to come back...

I always drive by here and finally hubby and I went last weekend. It's very mediocre in my opinion. Food was a tad overpriced, it was fine food, just a wee bit spendy for what you get. Service was excellent, we were on the slightly early but not that early dinner side for a Saturday. It was very clean and the wait people were doing a good job of keeping things clean, not just chatting when they had nothing to do. Not sure we'll be back but now I know what it looks like inside.

Review for Catering only!** Not sure why this place has bad reviews but maybe their dine in meals are different from catering. I ordered catering here for a company event last week and it was great. They delivered the food 15 mins early which is always better than being late. The delivery guy was also very nice and he set up all the food at the event before he left. And everyone enjoyed the food. It was for 30-35 people and we had plenty of leftovers. It was also a breeze to order catering from them. They communicated well over emails and phone calls. My favorite food item was the coleslaw, cornbread and the barbecued sausages. They also offer a vegetarian burger to those who can eat meat. I recommend this place for catering!

This was our second time coming here. We try to give places another shot if it was less than ideal. I grew up in a restaurant and have compassion for owners and servers, that's why I try a place twice before making a judgement. Goodness was it bad. The service was not that great. Our server stuck her thumb in the butter and flung the butter on her thumb to the floor and didn't get us a new one. That's just gross. The food is a tad better then grade school cafeteria lunch. The brisket was very dry with little flavor, the chicken was so dry it would get stuck in my throat and I'd have to take a drink of water to get it down. All the sides we barely touched because they just tasted out of a can or tub. My side green salad was the only thing I really ate. We basically just gave up and left the food there. If you're going to charge those prices for BBQ at least figure how to cook it well and put your own flare on the sides if you can't make them from scratch. I have no problem paying for good food, but this has got to be the worst dinner we had since we moved to Washington and we've been here a year. I hope it picks up for you, because it looks like I'm not the only one who was unhappy with our food.

Had experienced Longhorn BBQ for the first time, via catering. Seen their highway 167 restaurant highway roadsign for years, but never went to have it. Ended up having them catered to an event. They were timely, I will say that! I will say that the staff were courteous and polite, and looked professional. They were helpful, kind, and did not get into the way of the events. I walk up and pass on the baked beans. They looked hohum- appearing runny and nothing to be impressed about. Next, the pulled pork had very little sauce, and was dry and tough (The only sauce on it was sticky and sporadic, and what was used during cooking). Offered generic buns, straight from the plastic bag, bought from any grocery store for the pulled pork- not a bakery 'special recipe', or house made bread- even generic sliced white bread would have been better, like is offered down South. Next was the chicken quarters- dry, overcooked, and with no sauce or seasonings to make the taste come out- the skin was falling apart, with barely a splattering of any hint of sauce grilled on the skin. Next was the pork ribs. Overcooked and dry- they were sweet, which is good, but consisted of mostly fat and little meat- their size was very small, and not of choice cuts- a lot of end pieces, it seemed. The sauces offered on the side were a BBQ and another, a spicy chipotle. Both were bland and runny. The coleslaw was crisp and seemed fresh enough- which is nice!- but bland and a bit watery, could definitely use more flavor. I have to say, though, that their potato salad was excellent. Mustard was evident, but delightfully so- thick and hearty, flavored wonderfully without too much vinegar used. It was the only item I went to get for seconds. I am disappointed in the quality of the food (save for the potato salad)- it did taste like we were eating sterno-reheated leftovers from the night before... Or maybe even the night before that. I do hope to visit the actual restaurant for a sit-down meal, and see if there is a difference in that meal, and a catered meal.

Chili 101. Texas red chili DOES NOT HAVE BEANS. So I don't know what this chili flavored concoction was that you fed me, but it was mediocre and certainly not Texas red. So minus the first star. For dinner I had the pulled pork sandwich. I found the pork slightly dry but ok overall, nothing to write home about but well seasoned edible once bbq sauce was applied. Go ahead and skip the baked beans, they were pretty flavorless, yet overly sweet at the same time. As for the potato salad, it wasn't bad, just your run of the mill tater salad. Toss on a little salt and pepper and it wasn't half bad. That's it for this meal. Overall 3 stars.

I don't think I was getting a good value here. I ordered the Maverick. One side (coleslaw) and a small generic piece of corn bread. With this meal you get two meats. The German sausage was good but the chicken was very dry. The coleslaw was very good, just could have used more.

We must not have very good BBQ in this area, for people to like this place. I've waited for years to come to this place, and it unfortunately didn't really live up to my expectations, I really wanted to like it. Let me start with the good; the decoration, design, and atmosphere are perfect! There is plenty of seating, and would be great for larger groups. As for the food, the brisket was about the only good thing that they had. Now for the not so good. We got there, and no one was anywhere around, there was only one other couple eating, we waited some more, and finally someone came to seat us. We ordered a chicken wing appetizer, and it was pretty good, but our server never gave us wipes, or napkins, with chicken wings swimming in BBQ sauce. We got both our appetizer and, our meal very fast. The ribs were ok, not the best, just ok. The Chicken was SO dry, I was not happy with it at all. They have the WORST, and I mean the WORST potato salad that I've ever had, EVER, yuck... The beans were heavy, but good, and the fries, and onion rings taste like they came from a box. The brisket however was pretty good, I liked it a lot. This place was basically fast food quality, in a restaurant setting. I don't give two star ratings often, but I really was not impressed. Well, at least we don't have to wonder if this place is good or not anymore, it's not. I wouldn't recommend it... OH, and they give the kids crayons with Discover credit card logos on them; I'm sorry, but I don't think that advertizing credit cards to kids is ok, especially while just trying to eat out.

This place is part of a group of related bbq joints in Washington. The history is really cool and their decorations make you think the food is going to be amazing, but it failed to deliver. Major disappointment, my parents and I are both from the south, we love bbq, and they would have had at least once a month customers if it was any good, but alas...

I stopped by for a late lunch recently and was very disappointed. I think the other low reviews for Longhorn are hitting the mark. In short, the food just wasn't very good. Barbecue usually follows one of two schools of thought. Season the meat with dry rubs and smoke or flavor the meat after cooking with incredible sauces at the table. The Longhorn apparently does neither. The meat was cooked perfectly but it lacked flavor of any type. The BBQ sauce on the table was slightly better than catsup. This might be good for people who suffer from hypersensitive taste bud syndrome but not me. I like full flavor BBQ that makes you roll your eyes (and sometimes your toes) when you eat it. In addition, the lighting was very poor. To the point that it was difficult to read the menu or inspect your food when it came to the table. On the good side they have a nice bar area with a good selection of adult beverages and several beers on tap. They also have a nice stage in the bar area for live music. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. The owners could easily raise this establishment by a star by simply going to Costco and buying a few cases of Cattleman's or Bull's-eye BBQ sauce. They might get a two star improvement by putting a BBQ sauce trio on the table of Hickory, Spicy and mustard sauce.

I had to create a Yelp account just to recount my experience there this past weekend. We were staying at the Best Western right next to this place for the Tough Mudder event that was going on. We went here for our dinner before the race. So gross. Between the 4 of us we ordered Nachos, 2 orders of wings, a caesar salad, a burger, and some chicken lettuce wraps. I would not recommend a single thing we ate. Not only that but 2 servers were verbally arguing right next to our table and one threatened the other with a "do you want to take this outside?" The food: Nothing had been made at the same time. The nachos must have been sitting out for at least 10 minutes before the rest of the food was. The colour of the squeeze cheese was horrifying and it had already formed skin on it. The pulled pork was dry and the rest was somehow super oily. The chicken lettuce wraps had wilted lettuce and were nothing more than chicken salad sandwich filler scooped with an ice cream scoop onto said wilted lettuce. The wings were.... fine I guess? The burger had 2 sad strips of bacon on it which were clearly of the 5 second microwave variety and were also the only hot thing we received. Can't speak to the salad as I refused to try it when my friend offered but her suggestion to "try this this is so nasty" leaves me thinking it wasn't worth it. Our server was fine if super awkward but was unsettling was the two female servers yelling at each other. While the restaurant was fairly empty, that is still no excuse. It was uncomfortable. One of the two servers who was in the fight came to clear the table next to us after another party left and the other one came over. They then continued to argue right next to our table. No concern for service or professionalism at all. We talked another group in our hotel out of going to this place and I hope some of the reviews here can help others skip the nasty food and terrible service we received. Makes for a good story though.

I think the attraction is the free HH spread that comes at a certain time. Nothing special, but it can be a super inexpensive afternoon. Beer and pig parts. There is a large seating area, with lots of bar stools and communal tables. It's dark inside and it's just a quick stopping place on the way to other places.
