Best ever Shepard's pie. Husbands ribs were great. Good cocktails and great service.

Everything at Gracies is made fresh, to order, and is consistently good. You must try the soup of the day and whatever pasta of the day that you can get in place of your side dish. No matter what it is, it's always excellent. You will not find better food in Stowe unless you're willing to pay more than double.

I can sum up Gracie's in one word: disappointing. We showed up on time for our reservation. Then we stood there and stared at the hostess for about 10 minutes before she asked for our name. They asked us to wait for a little bit for our table (which was fine because they were really busy). Then they proceeded to seat everyone else that walked in after us before seating us - even though they didn't have reservations. Um okay, rude much? Finally got to our table and placed our order - homemade french fries with gravy and cheese, Gracie's nachos, 2 bowls of clam chowder and 2 chicken fried chicken breasts - all for 2 people. The waitress told us the portions are huge and suggested we order less food. We canceled the nachos and went with 1 chicken fried chicken breast instead. The food came and she was not kidding - HUGE portions. Fries were okay, clam chowder was okay, chicken fried chicken was dry but the seasoning was good. Eh. We were unimpressed. The best part of the whole dining experience was looking at the cute pics of dogs on the walls. What can I say? I'm an animal lover.

I always make a trip to Gracie's when in Stowe for a blue tick burger. Love the "keep it local" focus of this place, local beef, local dairy, local beer. Service is always excellent, in the few years I've been coming here not too many of the faces have changed and they're good at what they do. If you want a decadent dessert get the dog bone.

From my kids... Great chicken fingers Great French fries Nice waitresses. 5 star desserts!! Fantastic for sharing with 4 people. Fun to dip into to the fudge. And good choices!

I've been to Gracie's several times now in each of its locations (it's been in either two or three spots since I've started visiting Stowe), and each time, it's one of my favorite places to eat when I'm in Stowe. When I was younger, I loved going to Gracie's because of its dog theme - there are photos of dogs everywhere and the menu is full of items named after different breeds of dogs (some burgers include The Boxer, The Chihuahua, and The Blazing Beagle Burger). Being a little older now, I still love going to Gracie's because the food is really good (and I still love seeing all the dog photos hung up around the restaurant). I'm looking forward to visiting Stowe, and Gracie's, again next year!

After hours of hiking in Smugglers Notch, I was tired and hungry and wanted comfort food. Yelp came to the rescue with top-notch reviews. I walked in at 7 p.m. on a Monday night and observed only three seats taken at the bar with the Red Sox and Yankees game about to start on the TV. Great! I thought about getting a burger but Yelpers liked their ribs. Hmm. I ordered a half rack of ribs (delicious, slid off the bones) with a 1/4 pound of bbq chicken (tender and aided with the sauce). It came with fries (crispy but a tad salty) and cole slaw (unexpectedly on the drier side but very tasty). If only the Sox were playing better... but for Gracie's, great!

We were staying at Arbor Inn in Vermont which is next door to this place. We had visited Burlington and were very late for dinner. The owner of Arbor Inn gave us a 15% discount coupon for Gracies and showed us the way there. We were glad we came here. We got a nice outdoor seat and both had order seafood dishes. The food was delicious and even more delicious was the simple toasted bread.

A-OK. I had a solid meal at Gracie's with friendly service. My friend and I ate at the bar since the wait for a table would have been about 30-40minutes. I ordered the shepherds pie. The meat, gravy, cheese, corn and potatoes had a good ration and solid flavor. My friend had a pulled pork sandwich which he said he enjoyed. If I'm in the area, I wouldn't mind coming back, but I would probably try someplace else first. Also, this place has a dog themed decore. I absolutely LOVE dogs, however, found it a bit strange to be looking at all of their pictures in a food establishment...maybe there's a story behind that.

Service was excellent. Food was ok. Were there with a large party. Some steaks were not cooked as ordered. I remembered this restaurant when visiting the area last year as being really good. This visit- just ok.

Started off good with delicious homemade bread. But we had 3 different servers throughout the night, and waited over an hour for our meals... There were only two of us. We wanted to give them the benefit of he doubt, but the restaurant crowd was average and there were no apologies. Food was pretty good, decor was odd, pricey, unorganized, don't make a special trip.

Love this place! They have doggie decor all over. The restaurant is named after the owner's dog Gracie. She has her picture on the wall (the one with the museum light). We were seated next to the fireplace. Yay! The server was very friendly and attentive. He thought my bf is French coz he has an accent. (He's actually Portuguese.) But we are right next to French territory so you never know right? Lol. They have the best house made bread (served on every table). A delicious and warm banana bread also comes in the basket. The entrees on the menu have some sort of doggie name. Quite cute and charming. Bf ordered Prime Rib. Made with Vermont beef from the farm down the road. He said it's the best he's ever had! I had the Petey's Burger which was also quite amazing! Portion of the proceeds go to the animal shelter. So yeah, I felt wonderful already! All in all, we had such a very good dining experience at this place. This will be one of our stops everytime we go to Vermont! Can't wait to go back in the summer! That's when they open the patio and have live music, sit outside watching drivers on their way to Stowe Mountain!!!

The walls are covered with photo of generations of well loved family pets ( dogs only - cat lovers find some place) makes for a warm and inviting atmosphere. Great restaurant with a huge menu with something for everybody and anybody. Nice selection of local beers on tab. Friendly and helpful staff. I had the Shepard Pie, it was a bit unusual with the main vegetable being corn, but it was easily the BEST SHEPHERD PIE I ever had. For dessert we shared a "doggie bag" 3 ways. It is a chocolate lovers dream, a white chocolate bag filled with chocolate mousse and then covered with hot fudge. Amazing but not for the faint of heart.

We were a bit skeptical before going to Gracie's, but wanted to give it a try. Switchback on tap was a nice treat. We ordered onion rings and meatloaf cupcakes for the table and the four of us were not disappointed in the least. Onion rings were great and plentiful. Meatloaf was good comfort food. We were served complimentary bread that was quite hearty. My husband and one son ordered the ribs and said they were among the best ribs ever. My other son and I had The Boxer burger and these, too, were among the best. The fries were wonderful. Four stars is only because of its more casual atmosphere. The wait staff couldn't have been better and the food is worth it to make it a yearly stop.

Heading to Stowe for the first time we did our research and Gracie's was well reviewed so we headed there for dinner. It definitely lived up to its rave reviews. Be sure to make a reservation as this place gets packed. The service was outstanding and everyone made you feel right at home. Great vibe and great food. The sweet potato fries were outstanding and the rib appetizer pleased everyone. Two of us got their fish (one dinner and one sandwich) and it was tasty. Their homemade special rolls are amazing and made the sandwich even better. The burgers are generous in size and the shepard's pie was a hit as well. Would definitely return and would suggest this great place for families and couples looking for a great dinner.

We had reservations for a group of 12, but when we arrived we realized we had miscounted and we were actually a group of 14. The person in our group who spoke to the manager is the sweetest, kindest, most courteous person in the world. She asked if they could accommodate 14 instead of 12. The manager, oozing arrogance, said to her "Sorry Honey, it's Saturday" and would not help us. As it turned out the restaurant remained half empty the entire evening and we could easily have been accommodated. Not wanting to spend the rest of my life behind bars I let it slide, and decided to mention the incident here. I lead groups tours to Stowe twice a year and this place is permanently off my list. There are many options in Stowe and we do not have to deal with management like this.

This was my second vacation to Stowe and I tried a place I've never heard of. That was Gracie's. I walked in and the first thing an old man said was "Oh, you're rubbing it in, eh?" That was because I was wearing a Philadelphia Flyers sweatshirt. Makes sense... The decor was out of the ordinary, every single picture in the restaurant was a dog. The owner's dog was named Gracie, so they named the restaurant after her. Anyways, let's get on to the most important part, the food! The service was very good. Everyone was very nice! I got the Memphis Pulled Pork Sandwich. The flavor of the BBQ Pork was amazing! The BBQ Sauce was also really good. It was a nice quiet place to grab a bite for my first day in Stowe(second vacation)!

This is the best place in Stowe ! Great food, great atmosphere and great service. It gets busy during peak vacation times and on weekends so be sure to make a reservation. The cranberry bread is wonderful. I had the cold potato soup and pork tenderloins both of which were amazing. The green beans were the freshest I've ever had. Look no further!

Very friendly staff, cute doggy decor, food unimpressive. Had the Chicken Piccata and found the sauce to be a thick lemon gravy. I asked for the pasta side and it didn't complement the chicken at all. I wish the waiter had explainerd beforehand that the pasta was a red sauce with olives.

All the years I have been coming to Stowe with my wife, we never stopped here together. Finally went with her parents, who have been living in Stowe for a while, and they were surprised we never ate here (my wife was suprised too thinking I had been here by myself I guess). Only thing I wished was that I had come here sooner!!!! Food was fantastic, drink selection is good, service was great, atmosphere was pleasant and laid back, and overall just a perfect restaurant to go with any style party you may be with. I ordered the Black Angus NY Strip (medium rare). It was cooked to perfection and it was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! My wife enjoyed (as did I since she couldn't finish it) the Arugula Salad w/ a side of wild rice. My in-laws had the Shepherds Pie and Chicken Piccata which they both thought was really good. Last but most definitely not least was the dessert we all shared. We ordered a Doggie Bag, as it came highly recommended by my in-laws and wife, and boy did it not disappoint. As the server brought it out, all the patrons of the restaurant turned their heads and watched this delicious masterpiece go by. It looks like a paper bag, which is made out of while chocolate, and filled with chocolate mousse served on hot fudge (that taste like brownie batter) whipped cream and a sugar cookie. Recap: Food is great. Not some pish posh restaurant but good quality food. Atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Perfect for couples, family w/ kids, or going with friends. My father-in-law says it's one of the only restaurants around that will not make you feel tourist. (Don't kid yourself, you wont be seen as one of the locals either).

Such a fun restaurant! We both had burgers and they did not disappoint (a large party next to us had all ordered burgers as well, so we knew we couldn't go wrong with any of the burger options!). The servers were so friendly and knowledgeable about all of the unique food and drink offerings. Warm, cozy atmosphere perfect for a date night! Would love to visit again if we are ever in the area.

Perfect casual dining experience for all parties. We go every year as a date night-but there are always tables of parents and their kids after a ski or several large parties/family reunions. Prices are inexpensive and portions are huge. Flavor is deliciously tasty! So many burgers so little time. Add friendly staff and all Vermont microbrews on tap and you have a place you must go at least once on your Stowe vacation! During the summer dogs are allowed on the porch.

Gracie's has a reputation as a fun, casual dining experience. I was expecting satisfying, diner-esque food, but ended up with a stomach ache. Monstrous sized servings or very average, sometimes gross, food. Our dinner began with an order of onion rings - what the heck, we've been outside all day an we've earned it. They advertise on their menu that these are better than Tony Roma's We ended up with a basket of fried onion slices with sprinklings of fried batter around the side. Not a single onion was ringed with batter. The basket was so greasy that when the waitress removed it from the table, there was a puddle of grease that my napkin couldn't soak up! The sight of it made me sick. The rest of the dinner was average at best. MONSTROUS SERVINGS, which I consider a negative, though I know a lot of dinners think this is a plus. The 2 stars instead of 1 is that Gracie's redeems itself with a fun atmosphere and very good homemade bread.

Let me just say that I should know better than to order two LOng Island Ice Teas. I have one about once a decade. The last time I had one was in London, and I lost a thumbnail that night. But I digress... The Long Island Ice Teas are really, really good here. Tastes totally non-alcoholic. Hence, the danger. WHen you order one, be sure to tell the bartender that, no matter what happened and no matter how hard you beg, that he is under no circumstance to give you another one. That being said, um, my notes on my dinner here are not so clear. Like "Good beef on Niger." What does that mean? Does it mean we had some beef on the river Niger? Or was my iPhone's auto-correct involved? I apparently liked the fries with chees and bacon, but c'mon -- how can one not? My husband tells me the salad was excellent--generous apples and candied nuts, nice cider dressing. I wrote in my notes, "below-average blueberry cobbler -- dairy-product to fruit ratio was off." That probably means there was not enough ice cream and that the cobbler was not tasty enough to carry it off alone once the ice cream was gone. Also, the beer selection was rather below average. Not a single IPA, which is what drove me to the fatal choice of ordering the first LIIT... I do remember that we chose to come here in the first place because we wanted a place we could eat outside with our pup, Murrie. Murrie loves this place -- they gave her fresh water, people came up and petted her, and, when I was on my second LIIT, she got lots of table scraps (which she never gets). She keeps begging to come back. We probably will.

Food is fantastic, very friendly service and cozy atmosphere. The freshly baked breads are excellent. We had panko crusted haddock with shrimp and Newbury sauce... Out of this world... Gracie's is our most favorite place in Stowe!

Busy restaurant on a Sunday night , food took a while to come out but was so fresh and good. Tried one of the daily specials chicken with pumpkin mole. Highly recommended. Our server was friendly but she seemed a bit overwhelmed. Overall a good experience, would eat there again if I return to the area

Went to Gracie's on recommendation of a local friend, 9 of us in our group and everyone loved their dinners. Everyone had a variety of meals from burgers to filets and everyone raved how good their dinner was. The staff was friendly and attentive, as soon as we walked in the staff thanked us for choosing Gracie's. Would highly recommend and would go back next time in Stowe.

Just walked out of this incredible restaurant! Every meal our party of six ordered was cooked to perfection. Service was warm and staff was friendly. Gluten free options are clearly marked and delicious. Loved the shepard's pie, filet mignon, and of course the "meatloaf cupcakes!" This is a really cozy place to get a meal in Stowe!

Always a good meal at Gracie's! Food is good and there are a lot of options from something light to a satisfying comfort food style dinner. Desserts are great, but the best part is the homemade bread! So delicious! Staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is homey & fun. Love to check out all the dogs, restaurant is always clean, nice bar & outside covered dining is nice even on a rainy evening :) definitely check this place out if you're in the area!

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the fourth of July weekend! This hot spot was recommended to us by one of their workers and it was the best dinner choice we made ! The hospitality from the owner as you walk through the doors gives you as a customer a great feeling. Everyone was so attentive and the quality of service was top notch. I ordered the everything burger and my husband ordered filet mingon. Both choices were cooked to perfection and so delicious. For dessert I had the black and white bread pudding and my husband had the chocolate mousse cake. The bread pudding was a bowl of goodness! He didn't like the mousse cake it was too hard for his liking but other than that I highly recommend this spot!

I always read reviews and go by them, but for some reason everyone gives this restaurant a good review and its not good at all. The best thing in there are the dog pictures. My husband had the pulled pork dish with coleslaw. The coleslaw was gross. It had no seasoning in it and way too much vinegar. The pulled pork was ok at best. I had the chicken piccata, and it needed more seasoning as well. There was also a hair in my mashed potatoes. When I told the waitress about the cole slaw, she just giggled and said "You didn't like it?" It was non edible. After about 10 minutes we had another guy helping us, I had no idea where our waitress went. The service was bad and the food was gross. We will come back to Stowe again but I think we might not read the reviews.. These reviews to this restaurant are way off.. And I never write reviews because I usually like what I eat and where I go. Not this place.. Gross..........

Had driven by Gracie's many times while vacationing in Stowe. Decided to stop in for dinner during our most recent trip, and so glad we did! We were greeted right away, and the owner stopped by to welcome us as well. Nice selection of local, Vermont brews on tap and the menu was a good mix of casual choices without being overwhelming. They list all of the gluten free options as well. We ordered the Gracie's nachos which were excellent. The husband and I decided they were some of the best nachos we have ever had. We then split the pulled pork dinner and it was very good too. Full from our appetizer and dinner we could not pass up looking at a dessert menu since our choices had been so good. We were not disappointed and left Gracie's fat and happy. We will definitely be making Gracie's a regular stop on our future trips to Stowe.

Tonight was my second visit to Gracie's - my first one being back in September of '09. The first time I went with three other people, two of whom I didn't know, so I really didn't pay a lot of attention to the entire menu or the decor - I knew they were famous for their burgers, so I sat down, picked one out and dug in. It was good and made a note to return to try a another variation. Tonight I took my wife to Gracies when our original plans to go to another restaurant fell through when we found out they were closed for vacation. Gracie's was nearby and thought it would be a relatively safe choice. Having the time to really look around and look at the menu made me realize what a strangle little restaurant Gracie's is. There is dog stuff EVERYWHERE. Dog photos and paintings on the wall... dog patterned curtains... dog candle holders... if you are allergic to dogs, you may start itching and sneezing just from the sheer amount of dog-related paraphernalia in the place. It is like walking into a dog version of a crazy old cat lady's house. Being able to take a closer look at the menu also allowed me to see the that menu is a little crazy... value dishes.. a jambalaya that is under seafood if it has shrimp and is also under entrees if it has chicken. For a a place that is so well known for burgers, they don't keep the focus on that item very well. As for the food.... well, I remember my burger being better last time. I will also say that on my last visit, one diner ordered a lemon pepper chicken pasta that was so peppery she had to switch meals with someone else. We began with an order of onion rings that were claimed to be made with a "famous top secret recipe" or something that like that. Maybe the reason it is so secret is because no one wants it. Harsh, but I am pretty sure they didn't put any salt on them. Or in the batter. Nor did they fry them enough to get any flavor. In fact, they may have actually taken flavor OUT of the onions. Alongside the world's blandest onion rings came some pretty decent "brown-ish" bread that was warm, sweet and tasty. Too bad it was served with ice-cold, rock-hard butter that was impossible to spread on the soft bread. Such a little thing that make a big difference. We both got burgers and we both found them to be satisfactory but not outstanding. For a half-pound burger, the bun to meat ratio is off - the bun is a dense affair that ends up being almost cold in the middle. The top bun looks like it may have been introduced to a grill for the briefest of moments; too bad it wasn't for longer, since some heat and color would have been very beneficial. The accompanying french fries were quite good and typical of the greater Waterbury-Stowe area: fresh cut potatoes with some skin still on and cooked until well done. Once again, however, the fry cook neglected to put any salt on them when fresh out of the oil, leaving them very under-seasoned. My wife mentioned afterward that her burger was in desperate need of salt and pepper as well. Prices are "Stowe-ish," with our two burgers, two beers and order of onion rings coming in at $46. My wife summed it up best with two comments: first was her observation that "this is the type of place Gordon Ramsey visits on 'Kitchen Nightmares'" and then provided an excellent executive summary of the evening: "it wasn't bad, but I would never go out of my way to eat there ever again."
