Either Sybil got this one wrong or the potential she noted in her review has been realized. The Blue Paddle Bistro is a gem. Think cozy vacation eatery, favored by the locals for fine food and boating decor. The clam chowder was ALL clams. The grilled marinated shrimp, served on a bed of greens with artichoke hearts, goat cheese and a balsamic vinagrette, hit the spot. The chicken and pasta dish was served with a maple garlic cream sauce that memories are made of. The hostess and waitresses are welcoming and attentive and the prices within reason. Put this one on your must dine list. Reservations are recommended.
Very enjoyable experience. My boyfriend and I did not have reservations and they were pretty booked so they sat us upstairs in an empty dining room. Score for us! We had to do our people watching looking at the parking lot from our window, but, once again, score. I ordered Salmon and my boyfriend had duck. We both really enjoyed the food. The bread the waitress brought was not the bread they usually use and didn't look appetizing so I didn't try it. Both the waitress and one of the owners made sure we were comfortable with the temperature and generally enjoying ourselves. I had a really good time and the customer service was great.
I read the reviews before going and was afraid I'd be disappointed. However, I have to say that this is by far one of the best places I've been to. The staff was incredibly friendly and approachable and the restaurant itself was relaxing and felt like home (because it is a home). I have to disagree with those who said the food was average and the portion size small for the price. The food was outstanding and the menu was diverse. The food portion was perfect and what I'm accustom to from major metros and 5 star restaurants. I enjoyed the fact that the owner herself was there and made it a point to engage and converse with everyone there. I highly recommend that if you haven't tried this place yet, do so.

Stopped for lunch after riding our bikes up the causeway from Burlington. I ordered chef salad my wife had the Asian chicken salad. Must say they were both fresh and well portioned and the beer was cold. We also tried the black bean soup, also good but I found it a bit salty. All in all a good meal would stop here again.
I ate here with my boyfriend, my sister and her husband during a long and strenuous trip to Isle La Motte on 08/06. This place has the general feel of a "just plain folks" establishment, but the food was pretty good. For starters, we split an order of nachos. They came toasted with melted cheese, peppers, tomatoes, onions, olives, etc on top. One thing I noticed was that the cheese did not dominate the overall flavor of the nachos themselves, which was good, because I was able to fully enjoy all the ingredients at once. The other thing I noticed was that the nachos were not overly salty or oily. Maybe they were multi-grain, I don't know. But they were good. For my entree, I decided to get the Shepherd's Pie, which came with a toasted garlic breadstick. The Shepherd's Pie was huge and I almost couldn't finish it all, but it was pretty decent, although I think this place interpreted the definition of "Shepherd's Pie" very loosely: ground beef, mashed potatoes and corn were all mixed together under a layer of starchy goodness. I searched for peas, but did not see any. Also, it was spelled "Shepard's Pie" on the menu. Clever pun, or lazy spelling? You decide. The best thing I had was the breadstick, which was seasoned with the right amount of salt, pepper, and garlic and toasted perfectly. Our server was nice, if a bit slow; the place wasn't crowded and I imagine not much happens on a Thursday afternoon up in South Hero. If I ever find myself in the vicinity of North/South Hero or Isle La Motte again, I might give McKee's another try.
Friendly service; good soups and wings. Good local beers. Full size bar. Overall nice place.

I went into this restaurant on a Sunday at about 2:00pm with my family. It took until about 2:10 until someone came to our table and at this point we had already found our own menus. Once our order was taken we waited for our drinks. Which was 5 waters, which took another 10 minutes. There were two people serving tables and about 3 other tables with people. Once the waters were eventually brought out the waitress spilled water on someone, which happens and I get that, but failed to even apologize. About 45 minutes later came our appetizers. Without napkins or eating utensils. 20 minutes after that our COLD pizza is brought out to us. I have been to this place many times before and I know going into it that the food service is a little slow but after going this Sunday I will NEVER go back. The service was so unprofessional and the food took over double the time it should have. I have never been more dissapointed with service at a resturant before.
