This is our "go to" breakfast or lunch place when we're near St. Johnsbury. Straightforward diner-type menu. The food is always good and the prices are excellent.
Basic no frills. Great alternative to fast food. Great service and value. Nice local find.
Tim's Deli is a "no frills" deli and grill serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner, takeout service at the counter with overhead menu boards & open kitchen area and eating in inside the separate dining room. The menu offerings include hot & cold subs, deli sandwiches, grilled sandwiches, salads, burgers, chicken (4 pieces, tenders, popcorn chicken), fried seafood (haddock, shrimp, scallops, whole clams, clam strips) baskets & dinners, and fried appetizers. The prices here are reasonable and the house specialties come with fries. I stopped at Tim's Deli for dinner recently. For takeout, I ordered a Large Philly Cheesesteak ($6.50 plus tax) with peppers & onions and served with fries. The food was ready in under 15 minutes after placing my order. The Philly Cheesesteak Sub was HUGE, cut in half with a pile of fries to fit in the takeout box. The cheesesteak sub itself was very greasy (like you get in Philly) which had thin sliced tender beef with sauteed sweet onions & green peppers, American cheese, and mayo on a thick soft chewy sub roll. The golden fries were very crispy on the outside with a coarse texture. I would definitely stop at Tim's Deli again for another greasy Philly Cheesesteak Sub!

Came here on a Saturday night, somewhat crowded, but very quiet, located on the outskirts of a nearly busy town. We came here just driving through St. Johnsbury trying to look for a decent restaurant, where we came across this place. A very large property. Not really knowing what is considered decent food up in Vermont, we decided to try it. We went in and the decor was quite ravishing, with wooden furniture and a creative ambiance. Plus an upstairs area with a bar. We came in around 7:00 and there were about 5 full tables, with the addition of a large party in the back. Plus, constant takeout orders. The menu is extremely cheap for the amount of food they give. Their combinations are also stellar. Service was actually quite pleasant and experienced, so much different from the service in New York City. Their wonton soup is quite large and is inundated with vegetables (which is a good thing...) The wontons were perfect. One of the best wonton soups up here. Their crispy chicken and beef combination was very delicious, quite tangy from the orange. Their dinner specials were amazing. The chicken and vegetables with a side of fried rice, plus and egg roll and 2-3 beef teriyaki skewers was a great combination. Delicious flavors, great portion sizes, wonderful deal. So was the beef and vegetables with rice and choice of appetizer. Their dumplings are plump and thick, which were actually quite delicious. The beef was cooked well and their selection of vegetables was amazing for the neighborhood. A wonderful, cheap place to get great Chinese food.
Before heading out of STJ, I made a stop New Century Chinese Restaurant for dinner takeout. There's a customer parking lot on the other side of the street. The place has full service dining room, but no defined seating area to wait for your food order unless you like sitting in a dark back area, unlike their other restaurant Asian Garden in Littleton, NH which has chairs near the front door. I ordered a Large Shrimp Lo Mein ($7.75) a la carte for takeout, since they do not offer lo mein dishes in their dinner combinations. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. The quart of shrimp lo mein had baby shrimp, carrot, bamboo, sprouts, & onions with mostly soft noodles, not too oily. The lo mein dish was basic and tasted good.
Looking for Chinese is difficult up here. The food was tasty but a little sweet for a hot dish that I ordered. My wife just had the chicken noodle which was good. Full bar upstairs and we ate in but lots of people were doing take-out.

One of the best. Always consistent and always great food!! The owners and staff have always been great to me and aim to please. Glad House of Pizza has existed since my childhood and long into my ride as an adult. They are a fixture in our town and we wouldn't want it any other way.
What a place! No frills at all which is right up my alley. This is literally a house of pizza (a house with a pizza shop in it). So many pizzas to choose from, plus calzones, side dishes, and more. The friendliest waitress ever. Great country tunes playing, comfortable booths. Feel like having a cold one in the outdoor patio overlooking Portland Street....you got it! Oh, you also want to cross the street afterwards for an ice cream cone? Go ahead! I had a great time here.
Our high school football team travelled to St Johnsbury for a pre-season game. he entire team, coaches and a number of parents all descended upon this place at one time around 8pm. The coach had arranged in advance for pizza for all of the players. As we arrived pizza was delivered quickly to the players, and devoured equally fast! I had none of the pizza but the consensus from players indicated it was good. My wife and I ordered food for ourselves. A chicken ceasar wrap, oops out of chicken! Ok, a meatball sub and a pasta with meatballs. The place was very hectic, with all of our players plus a few tables of people not part of our group. Nonetheless the service was great, everyone was friendly and helpful. They appeared to not be at all stressed by the large crowd. Anyway on to the food. My wifes meatball sub was delivered and I was told my pasta was on the way. As time went on players started preparing to leave and I still had no food. I asked them to prepare it to go with plans to eat on the drive home. They apologized repeatedly for the delay, delivered my food to go and gave me a certificate for a free pizza on a future visit. The pasta was not great. The meatballs and sauce were very good. The service was exceptional. Having worked in the food industry for more years than I care to remember I understand what is like when a group that large all want to eat at the same time. I was very pleased with how much they tried to make sure I was pleased. Next time in town I'll be by for my free pizza!

Was there last week and it was great food again. Not perfect, but very very good!! I don't think I've ever given anything five stars.
The best thai food I have had in years! Came on a night when they were short-staffed, and still got great service, along with top notch food. Fair warning, though... the food runs a bit spicy, so order carefully!
I absolutely love Kham's Thai. It is, by far, my favorite place to eat in St. Johnsbury. I do a lot of traveling and have yet to find a Thai restaurant in New England that equals it. My wife and I have eaten hear close to 30 times in the past few years and have never had a bad meal. The food is consistent and fresh. You can tell they make most of their items from scratch using fresh ingredients rather than frozen food that is quickly deep fried or microwaved. This is the mark of a true restaurant instead of one that purchases frozen garbage they reheat and serve. If you like Thai and are coming through St. Johnsbury, Kham's is a must.

I had heard so many great things about this restaurant, but after my experience there I have no idea where the praise is coming from. I went with a large portion of my family and we were quickly seated. Service after that was not only abysmally slow (and inexplicably so since there weren't many other diners in there) but the wait staff displayed an incredible lack of knowledge about the food. We had two vegans dining with us and the wait staff was unable to answer any question about the food that didn't have a clear answer on the menu itself. This culminated in one waitress claiming that the freshly grated parmesan cheese was "non-dairy." Whether she herself had a total lack of understanding of what "non-dairy" meant or she accidently let slip that the "fresh cheese" was imitation, I may never know. The food itself was served in the pan it was cooked in. The intention may have been to create something rustic and homey, but in truth the pans appeared greasy and dirty. The food itself was horrendously seasoned. My tortellini and pesto sauce was so over saturated with raw garlic that it blew my pallet and I was unable to taste anything else. I might have been willing to give the restaurant a second chance, on the assumption that perhaps the Monday night staff is not the top flight staff of the establishment, if it were not for the pricing. The food is priced as though it is fine dining, but at its best was no better than standard Italian take out you'd get from a local pizza place. Nothing about the menu, presentation, and especially service could ever justify the prices they have for the food. In short: never again.
Walked in with a friend after a long day at Dog Mountain upon the recommendation of our Bed and Breakfast. Let me make this short and sweet: The 3 stars is a result of 1-star service, and 5-star food. So, in the middle, here we have 3 stars. Rough service. Actually pretty rude. Waited 15 minutes to order. Place only had one older woman serving all the food. I could tell this place was rough around the edges, as in "the cook is possibly a headcase, and the place is understaffed so the 1 lone server is gonna rough us of verbally". But good lord my Linguine with garlic, olive oil, and red pepper was amazing. Amaaazzing. And served in the sautee pan in which it was cooked. That was fun. God bless this place for catering to the binging pigs that my friend and I are. This Italian food is some of the best I've ever had. Service: Expect some of the worst I've had. Food: Expect some of the best I've had.
Very good veal, we had Limone and Marsala. Nice family operation, the daughter was our waitress, the son-in-law the chef tonight.

Let me begin with this; if I could leave a lesser rating, it would definitely be this place... To start off with, My girlfriend and I used the drive thru to order a Chalupa Box, and a stuffed Nacho box. The service was very good. The man was very friendly, so no complaints about the service. But then, we got our food. The First thing we both opened was our soft tacos. There wasn't much to be expected, but upon opening, It was a sad display. A handful of lettuce and cheese, followed by what I thought might have been hamburger? Hard to tell since there was such a minute amount. Taste was salty; too salty. Didn't taste like any soft taco I've had. Then came the burrito. That was, eh, ok. Semi-edible. At least it tasted like a bean burrito. But when it came to the stars of the meal, the Chalupa and Nacho, another incredible disappointment! My girlfriends Stuffed Nacho was barely "stuft!" Just a mash of blandness, followed by some not so crunchy tortilla strips. My chalupa was not much better. Dry, tasteless, and no sauces? Even the drinks sucked. My girlfriends lemonade was like water, and the lid to my Baja Blast decided it too wasn't worth it, and spilled over me over, and over again. This was by far the worst experience at a Taco Bell I've had. I know they can do better, because I've had it. Maybe it's just a lack care for the product? Who knows. All I know is I won't be returning...
