First and foremost we want to thank our ONE server for serving us at 10pm - apparently the kitchen closes at 10. But we had just come in from the Beast Spartan race in Killington. Unfortunately, I don't think the kitchen staff was all that thrilled that they had to cook. I had gotten 'fried' chicken tenders - since it was easier for them to fry than to grill. He ordered a BLT. While we waited for our food and drank our beer, I counted 15 more racers come into the bar, all of which were turned away because they weren't serving food anymore. While I thought this was a bad move from a business perspective - that is not why i gave this place 2 stars. My chicken tenders were super well done. Which I don't mind so much, but was curious as to how they got so 'well done' in such a short period of time. He had requested mashed potatoes with his BLT - when served they were gritty and cold. He didn't eat them and they ultimately took them off the bill. We do appreciate our server, she was pleasant and did not make us feel like a burden, however she was the only one who was that welcoming. Even the drunk guy sitting out in the parking lot swaying and smiling made us feel more welcomed.

It's a great place at the heart of downtown. Right crowd and it is in walking distance with the base lodge. Must visit bar in Ludlow. Service is awesome, If you find otherwise just shout out "Tyler". They are open yearlong and parking is never a problem, most of time.

The Killarney is exactly what you want in a mountainside ski bar. Live music, plenty of taps, "ski bum ambiance." Certainly would stop here again for a drink. However, I would not choose to send you here for the food. Don't avoid if you're hungry, the menu just made everything sound better than it ended up tasting. The Guinness stew was our table favorite. Great to have something warm after a day on the slopes.

Has a really great atmosphere. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the Irish music and fireman/cop/EMT badges everywhere. We sat at the bar, which we enjoyed, and the bartenders were very nice. We love talking to bartenders. Nice selection of beers with a good amount to choose from (especially some local brews). We did not eat food though, so I don't have comments on that.

Great service and not too kitschy atmosphere right off the Okemo mt. Not great food, but if you're in the mood for a pint, and listening to the drop kick murphys after skiing, it could do the trick. Also looks like they have some live bands.

Decent food and good service, but it was pricey for the quality.

The food was very good with only a few minor comments 1. in another review here, the reviewer talks about a hot dog challenge, My friends and I went there and were told that the contest had been discontinued (however, even the waitress didnt know about it being canceled) 2. since the challenge was cancelled 2 of my friends had the verbacon, a bacon cheeseburger layered with maple syrup, the problem is that for some reason you could only get the taste of maple syrup if you add ketchup. 3. Coming from NYC the Killarney rolls seemed to be just big Egg Rolls. It was tasty and interesting, but set my tastebuds back for chinese instead of pub food However the food was ok, place was fun and they made fun of themselves for their mis-knowledge of the contest

With its location right at the bottom of the access road to Okemo Mountain, this did not need to be a good place. Yet, it is. The food is quite good -- the shepherd's pie, with a demiglaze in the meat, is to die for. There is an interesting take on a bacon cheeseburger with maple flavoring. And, of course, lots of beer on tap and an impressive collection of police patches behind the bar.

The restaurant is somewhat separated from the bar side which is nice if you want a simple and quiet meal. The location at the corner of the entrance road to Okemo is also nice. The meal: we had two servers approach is and try to start us, they didn't seem to communicate or delegate stations very well. Once it was solved we ordered our meals. I had the soup of the day (Long Trail Potato) which was very bland. I wouldn't order it again because it was thick and chunky, nothing like I expect from a good potato soup. My wife's chowder was average but not spectacular. The meals then came... My meatloaf was tasty but could of used more sauce/gravy. My wife enjoyed the burger and the fries were great. We ordered a second round of drinks and the beer came out was warm. I can't believe that a busy bar/pub has warm tap beer... It was a big let down. Also our server never returned after taking the order until we were done with our news. We actually had to ask the hostess to get another round when we wanted it. So in conclusion: Service: C Food: B Drinks: B Atmosphere: B+

The Killarney is located at the base of the entrance to Okemo. Visited it last year and was hoping for the same experience. We arrived to an almost full parking lot. When we entered we waited just a few minutes to be seated. Waitress was pleasant and attentive. Food on the other hand was a disaster. Order 12 dollar wings that you could have just picked up at the local Shaws and made them yourself. The pot o gold potatoes were stale 12 dollars for three and the pork appetizer was 11 dollars for 3 potatoes. The service was good and the live music is great but unfortunately the food let us down this time.

Best LOCAL bar in Ludlow . Great selection of beers and warm and friendly AND clean ... Unlike some other places in town ... Owner quite generous and always has a kind word

Fun place and family run. If you're looking for a fun place to go after skiing or just visiting town you have to stop here. Been there several times and you are always treated like family. the food is good and they have a lot of beers to choose from. I will keep going back. Other places in town but either too snooty or too expensive.

The food was very good, the staff was friendly and the place had a great atmosphere. The entire family enjoyed the music and all of the food. They are a bit pricey as being at base of Okemo, but worth the price. After reading reviews i did not expect much but food was good. The corned beef egg rolls were very good and highly recommend them. One son had burger, loved it, the other had shepards pie and equally enjoyed it. I had bangers and mash, real bangers, and homemade mashed. Wife had fish and chips ahe also liked. The menu is limited however.and the place is very small inside. Beers are pricey but decent choices, if they arent out of them. This is the best meal we had in the area and will definately go back.

I like Killarney more as a bar/pub than a restaurant. Not that the food is not good, it's just they are really good at being a bar/pub and just OK at being a restaurant. It is very spacious place, and they try to separate most of the "restaurant" from the bar. The long bar provides ample seating for eating or just drinking, and there are also some high tops and tables here too. The bartenders are really friendly and really fast with drinks. They pour the best Guinness in VT, and would rival some Irish joints here in NYC. Hats off to that. The prices also make me smile. $2 16 oz cans of Naragansett is a favorite of mine. They provide a lot of good, live entertainment. The nice thing is they are big enough of a place to support that without it being so loud you can't hold a conversation. There are some TVs in the bar area, and they will turn on any sporting event that the bar population at that time wants...majority seems to rule. The TVs are not a focal point of this spot though, so don't get it confused with a sports bar. As for the food, the burgers are inconsistent, but really tasty when they are on point. I think the biggest mistake I see here is overcooking. You have an amazing patty...why overcook it. The wings always smell fantastic. They give off the type of smell that instantly makes you crave wings. They back that up with great taste too. Probably the most consistent thing they put out...besides the pints of Guinness. Fish 'n Chips, Fish sandwich...any piece of fish breaded and fried is a good option here. They do that well. The rest of the menu are bar and Irish favorites although the menu is a bit light on appetizers. The Killarney is easily our favorite bar in the area, and they will always make you feel at home here. Not sure how you get a "mug" here, but they also seem to offer regulars a house mug which is just awesome.

Killarney - you need to step up your game. I came here with a few friends for dinner after skiing Okemo earlier in the day. We were told that it would be about a 20 min wait, so we decided to hit up the bar while waiting for our table. The bar area was pretty cool, lots of fun decor and a decent selection of draft beers. Once our table was ready, we headed to our seats, and ordered a few appetizers for the table. When the apps came out, they were unceremoniously dropped off and we were left without plates for us to use to share them. So, after it became evident that no one would be coming back any time soon to give us plates, we ended up making due with the situation. I ordered the Chicken Jameson for my entree. Sounds good, right? Well, maybe it might have been, had it not been fried into what tasted like an over cooked hockey puck. I had a hard time cutting through the chicken even though I was provided with a steak knife. Not cool, Killarney! Finally, when we got the check, we asked the waitress to split the bill evenly 5 ways. I was told she scoffed and seemed annoyed by this. However, isn't that pretty common these days???? I guess the bottom line is that If you are looking to get a drink, The Killarney may be for you, but avoid the food!

Stopped here for lunch based on positive reviews. Have to say we weren't overly impressed. We ordered buffalo wings, which were very good and potato skins, which were simply okay. The prices however, are outrageous. Be prepared to bring you big wallet. The buffalo wings are 11.95 for 7 average size wings. The potato skins are also 11.95, which gets you 3 measly skins.... You do the math... That's 4.00 a skin! We also ordered a bacon cheeseburger for 15.95 - it was ordered medium rare and was delivered medium well. Cooking temperature aside, the burger was not much better than you would get at a fast food restaurant. Lastly, we ordered clam chowder....blah is the best adjective I can come up with to describe the chowder, I think they added twice the cream and forgot the clams and spices! Overall, our experience was not very positive. The bar looked like it would be a fun place to hang out and have a beer or two, but I would not recommend going there for lunch or dinner, unless you enjoy paying a lot for mediocre food.

We went two nights in a row and loved the atmosphere and food! After a long day of skiing.....it was the best comfort food! 9 of us were happy!

Wow, we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't terribly busy and we had the slowest service ever! My friend ordered chicken fingers and was then informed that they were out of them. How are you out of chicken fingers on Super Bowl Sunday?! He was also informed that the beer he ordered was out, ugh. We then ordered a round of beers and drinks that took FOREVER to come and then my friend's beer was incorrect. So now I'm half-way done with my beer before his new one arrives. Waiting for the check was a bit of a challenge as well. The place looks like a lot of fun. Maybe they were short on staff but with the Super Bowl being played later that day and with the place light on customers you would think it would have been faster.

Not impressed. Disappointed. Was hoping for a nice pub but the atmosphere didn't feel friendly and welcoming. Waiter said the portions were large but the shepard's pie was very small for $15.

    (1)
  • Sue Rose E.

The place has a cool atmosphere but it is way over priced and the food quality has plummeted. My $15 burger was dry and way over cooked. The server was really nice though but never checked back on us. I wish the prices reflected the quality but during ski season they go up and the locals are forced to pay more. Pretty authentic Irish pub but a bit of a dive

Stopped by here after snagging some ski rentals and was highly recommended by the other person I was with. Really liked the atmosphere and the band playing was really good, albeit loud (we got a table next to them so we knew what we were getting ourselves into). Split an appetizer and got two beers before getting dinner. The appetizer was really good (pot of gold skins) and can never go wrong with beer. Why the 3 stars? The service. I've never had to get up and look for my waitress before in my life until tonight. But after over an hour after placing our second drink order (while the other tables' waitresses came by 3 times and patrons at the bar were getting drinks regularly) I had to. Found her laughing and talking with some people at the other end of the restaurant. She saw me, immediately looked embarrassed, and ran towards me to ask if we got our drinks. I canceled our now hour and a half old drink order after her was found chatting and asked for the check. Willing to give this place another chance, just be wary of the hit or miss service on a weekend. My friend apologized for recommending it.

By far the best place in Ludlow. It's a great bar/pub with live music or dine in the restaurant for a more low key atmosphere. The staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. The bar is lively, inviting and serves a full menu. Children are welcome (in the bar area too) and can enjoy a great children's menu. Music in the bar is not too loud and we were able to hold a conversation without yelling at each other. Menu offers a good variety of home cooked Irish pub items as well as a full list of specials. This has become our go to restaurant in Ludlow. Eat here!

  • Melissa P.

Unimpressed. The food was mediocre at best. The bangers and mashed had no flavor, if not for the sauce It would have had any taste. The duck special was tough and the skin soggy. The calamari appetizer was good and crisp. The bar did look like fun and it is probably good for apres ski. Looking to go for a drink? This is the place. Just skip the food.

This place was great. Great beer selection, diverse menu and the food was excellent. Staff was super friendly too. If we are ever in the area again, we will make a point to stop in.

I make a point to come here every time I'm in town...I absolutely love this place!! One of my favorite Irish pubs AND places to eat in Vermont. The interior is nice and cozy, especially after an ice cold day on the slopes. It has a home-y atmosphere that makes it really welcoming. The service is friendly and fast. What's better than hot chocolate after skiing? Hot chocolate with alcohol, of course!! I love the one with raspberry vodka! The NE clam chowder is yummy for an appetizer- it has it's own unique flavor that's delicious. The loaded potato skins are the best I've ever had! You can't go wrong with any entree! The fish and chips are amazing. I also suggest any kind of burger- there's even flavoring inside the meat! All the cheese is Vermont cheddar, so you really get a taste of the culture. The BLT isn't what you'd get at the average sub shop...it's way more hearty and flavorful. It has real, thick applewood smoked bacon...yummmm! Now the fries...the thing I look forward to most when I come here! They're crispy, flavorful and browned to perfection. They even have malt vinegar for dipping! Bottom line- awesome drink selection and incredible food. If you skip Killarney you'll seriously be missing out!

I have a urination association with this libation station. Had so much fun here the night before my friend's wedding, drinking cheap beer and whiskey/realVermontmaplesyrup shots. The fun resulted in the eventual soaking of the hotel mattress with my piss, most unfortunately for my other friend who shared the bed with me.

Food was ok. I got the Vermont bacon burger which was grilled with maple syrup. Really didn't taste anything out of this world on it. Good burger, I guess I expected more based on its description and $15 price tag. Also, don't rely on their website as its outdated. There were two specials I asked for that were no longer available or a different price listed. It was pretty noisy too (though we were sat in the pub area). Overall, food is good, great beer selection. Staff is OK. Nothing really drawing be back though.

Great family atmosphere with all of the traditional Irish Pub Fare on the menu. My favorite is Killarney Meat Loaf but Bangers and Mash and Fish and Chips are a close second. You can also order take out...but if you do leave enough time to have a pint of Heavy while taking in a game on the many TVs at one of the great all time bars

Oh man, we lived at this place one summer. The maple burger with the Singletons bacon is worth the trip itself, but the great drinks menu plus trivia night meant we camped out there almost every night (we may have worn out our welcome, but thanks for humoring us Killarney staff!). Great pub food, fun atmosphere- hope to be back soon!

  • Dan S.

Which Killarney will show up? A year ago, during the summer, we had a mediocre dinner. Food that was lackluster and service that was hit or miss. In fact, we hadn't been back. But..... Times change and we decided to give it another chance last week. We stopped by on a Friday night. Wasn't too crowded, but we're glad we did. First, an EXCELLENT bar with great beer. But even better, the food was really good. A vermont bacon burger which had Singleton's bacon on it was so good. And Fish n Chips was nice and fresh. And the server was helpful, friendly and attentive. So maybe things have turned around. Definitely will add it back to our rotation up there and we'll see if it get earn that 4th star again.

This place is EXCELLENT. Great bar thats fully stocked, completed with a St. Patty's day count down. The food is cooked well, keeping my ski/snowboard friends coming back for 2 years. We've had and enjoyed the entire menu, including the hot dog challenge. The hot dog challenge is an 8oz hotdog, ALOT ALOT of fries, and everything topped with chilli, cheese, kraut, chillies, etc. once the plates get there the manager makes an announcement that you'll be attempting the challenge, then stating that no one has ever completed it. Once the plates got there I had already called it quits and just enjoyed the delicious hot dog. Oh, did I mention it comes with a diet coke and you have to finish it in 30 mins? This place is right when you enter the Okemo ski resort, making it the ultimate stop in the area! Waitresses and hosts are friendly. The manager even came around to talk to us a few times. Great place, good friends, awesome skiing!

Great après ski bar!! Just crowded enough but not obscene like at the Loft. Traditional Irish flair with a local twist. There are over one hundred patches from local and regional fire/police/ambulance all nailed to the wall behind the bar. We tried the potato skins which were good. A large handful of beers on tap - and certainly more of a selection than what's available on the mountain

One of the few places in Ludlow open past 9 pm in the summer (can't speak for ski season), so we stopped for dinner while passing through on a Thursday night... Atmosphere: The pub was packed with locals, which is always a good sign. Very friendly crowd: We were even invited to play when they set up for Bingo Night. A little dark but didn't feel dirty, just very rustic/pub. Service: Derek was motion-sick so we opted to sit in the dining room, but eventually moved to the pub since we were the only ones back there and there was only one waitress on duty (not a fan of being inconvenient or inconvenienced). She was very nice and helpful, just over-stretched. Food: Very good buffalo wings! They had sold out of fish & chips (which again I take as a good sign; waitress said it's their most popular dish) but our entree salads were good alternate choices: Derek liked the unique Caesar dressing, and my Irish cob was tasty too but its chicken a bit salty for me. On waitress' recommendation, opt out of their "cob dressing." Discovered Wolaver's summer seasonal: Wildflower Wheat. LOVE!!!!! Overall, I think the healthy presence of locals is the best review. If you're in Ludlow and want some good Irish pub fare, it's a win.

Ate here late night. Had the pork chop special: cornbread and cranberry stuffed pork chop. Delicious! Veggies were bland but potatoes were good. I've never been here during peak ski season, so unsure how the service would be when busy, but considering it was off season the restaurant was pretty slow and service was good. Bar started to get busy on our way out bc Red Sox on. Pretty decent draft selection and lots of bottled beers. They also had some tempting alcoholic hot coco drinks which I'll try next time.

Just had a family dinner here mid-week...actually the day after St. Patty's and no irish hangover there. Was actually a bit quiet, but a good stop for plenty of beer options. Fish & chips very good, as were the burgers...which all came with tons of fries. Also had the potato skins which were yummy...and ceasar salad which had a bit too much dressing. Overall a fine place for a burger and great beer selection.

Had the potato skins, chicken sandwich, and brownie sundae. All very good. My only complaint is that the brownie wasn't home made. However, it is a pub so you should expect that. The staff was very friendly and the bar crowd wasn't obnoxious, so we could eat at our table in peace.

Killarney's is a great place for food and drink. We brought 14 people here for our best friend's birthday and had a wonderful time. We worked with Mark ahead of time and had our own private whiskey tasting. We learned a ton and got to sample the various whiskeys that Killarney's offers. We utilized the shuttle service to pick us up and bring us home. It really was an awesome experience. If you are looking to do something a little different, perhaps try the whiskey tasting at the Killarney. Highly recommend!

My friends and I arrived in Ludlow around 11pm which is when everything is dead except for the Pizza nightclub (no really) which had stopped serving pizza (boooo) and this place- which was serving pizza and playing music loudly!! Pizza Club #2! The downsides: The bartender took his sweet time and couldn't add up 3 drinks in his head, the pizza was shitty (yep- I'm coming from New York City so this is bias) but it still hit the spot. Upsides: Pizza til late (late is 11pm here btw) the place was pretty chill, the drinks were cheap ( decent beer selection too)and its definitely where the locals come to hang out, play darts, chit chat. Id say definitely visit this place or pizzaclub#1, if you're from out of town. I'm sad that I missed seeing the Pizza Nightclub but this is definitely Pizza Nighclub #2.

I am in love with this place! We were staying in town for the weekend and wanted a place to watch the game so we came here. The drinks were very reasonable and the food was fabulous. We ate so much I am pretty sure they didn't have any food left in the kitchen. the Killarney Rolls - OMG MUST HAVE - i want some right now The potatoe skins - very very yummy and cheese The fish sandwich - was pretty good - the fries were wonderful and then .... THE CHALLENGE My boyfriend decided to do the hot dog challenge. its a 1/2 pound beef dog on a baguette covered in chili (with beans) and cheese and jalapenos. With four servings of fries all covered in chili (with beans) and cheese and jalapenos. Add a diet coke. They staff was so fun as he was trying to do it and we just had a great time. If i ever come back to Ludlow I will definitely be eating here! It is a must try.

Food was good - if you're a meat eater try the Verbacon burger. It's full of maple syrup, Cabot cheddar and bacon - yum!! Mexican night at an Irish pub seems weird but the chimichanga was yummy too. Staff is just mediocre, so just go expecting good food and beer NOT super great servers.

good food, nice place, fair prices, and always a fun time. Only advice is not to go if you are in a hurry - it's not that kinda place - go to relax, hang, enjoy and eat/drink well.

Awful and dirty!!! Stopped in for lunch and ordered a BLT. Waited 45 minutes for our order which was burnt to a crisp and un-edible. While I waited the bartender was bringing beers to the kitchen. Maybe they should focus on their food versus getting tanked in the kitchen.

Just went on a Monday night in August and had a good experience. They were out of a few draughts, but the wait staff was nice and the food was good. It's an Irish Pub, so get a Guinness, a burger, and enjoy.
