After my day at UVM College of Medicine, I took a little tour of downtown Burlington. I found it to be quite the cozy little town, but it still had its share of bars, restaurants, and eateries. After picking up some obligatory maple syrup, I wanted to grab a bite to eat before heading on a 4.5 hour bus ride down to Boston. My friend suggested this local pizza joint, which has one of his favorite types of pizza. I found this place to be a little bit pricey for pizza, but was in no position to argue when it came to hunger and the chance to try new pizza. I got the recommended buffalo chicken pizza and also a slice of the three-meat pizza along with a soda. Total came out to be around $8 for the combination I believe. The buffalo chicken slice was really good and closely resembled the flavors of wings of the same name. I liked the ranch and the familiar tang of the spicy chicken. As for the three-meat slice, it consisted of bacon, sausage, and pepperoni I believe. I thought it was a little bit salty and was monotonous in flavor. One thumbs up and one thumbs down, but I guess an okay pizza place to grab a quick slice to go. The slices are pretty big too and kept me full for the entire 4.5 hours. The service was also friendly. Perhaps I might be calling this place home next year.

Mr. Mikes has some of the best slices in town. The Buffalo Chicken is my favorite, but you really can't go wrong with anything here. They've got a bar and pool table in the back and there are always reasonable drink specials. This place is a bit of a dive (I think I read somewhere that they are notorious for the dirtiest and most graffitied bathrooms in Burlington) but if you can look past that this place is a pizza gem!

Excellent local pizza place with moderate prices. This place was open at 2am on New Years Day! We went back the during regular hours and the pizza was just as good! I would recommend the Buffalo Chicken pizza!

I've been coming to Mr.Mike's off and on for years. A friend of mine has taken over the joint in the past few years but the food is still great. Its a pizza and beer joint which has its fair share of college kids but its a good cheap eat if you're hanging around downtown. Today we had a slice of pesto pizza, bbq chicken, and the veggie pizza. The pesto was good and the flavor was subtle. The BBQ chicken pizza had bacon (mmmm my fave) and chicken finger strips and was drizzled in bbq sauce. That one was my favorito. My friend had the veggie pizza and she said it was a little bland, which I would expect...but all in all it was still edible and she liked it nonetheless.

It's a pizzeria with a bar that has a pool table and a hoops game in the back. Awesome. The pizza is good and so is the beer selection. Great specials on beer, especially if you do not mind drinking 32 oz. cans.

This was the only place open late at night when we arrived from the airport. It was rainy and we were starving! It looked kind of sketchy and I admit that we would probably never have gone in under normal circumstances, but the pizza was good and the staff friendly. They have a few tables in the front, and a little bar in the back. Pizza is available by the slice.

Not authentic pizza, but good at what they do. The barbecue chicken and buffalo chicken pizzas are amazingly tasty. The bar is tiny, seating is limited, and the A/C hasn't worked in weeks... but as a post-kickball spot for the rowdy twenty-somethings who spend Monday night playing WAKA at Oakledge, it does the job well. The beer is relatively cheap, they bring rounds of free shots to all the teams in the league, and the service is friendly and quick. I'm not sure I'd choose to come here for a slice with my family, but as a spot to hit after day drinking or when I want latenight pizza, it hits the spot quite well.

My wife reminded me of the time we went here when I was studying at UVM College of Medicine and it was an "all you can eat" Wednesday. The waitstaff left the pitchers of coke out uncovered and huge flies would dive into the soda and die. I took a sip of my Coke and got a mouthful of dead flies. Enough said.

I am sitting here hungry and craving Mr. Mike's pizza. I could pretty much have anything to eat right now (within the Burlington area that's available at this in-between time) but that's what I want. It's not that Mr. Mike's pizza is the best pizza in the world, but it's pretty damn good NYC-style pizza for the Burlington area. When in a pizza pinch there are generally a few places I tend to go: 1. Panacea Pizza (where I go most the time for a slice or two to bring home) 2. Veritas (when I want to go out for a sit down pizza meal) 3. Flatbread (ditto) 4. Junior's (take out) 5. Mr. Mike's (take out) I tend to go to Panacea because it's in my hood and uses local, organic ingredients for the same cost as a slice from Mr. Mike's or Junior's. But every once in a while I make the trek downtown and I really like Mr. Mike's pizza. It tends to be less well done (not cooked so long) as Panacea's and the dough is very soft and yeasty. The sizes are large, crust thin, the toppings are not too much/not too little, and I like the sort of "lack" of ambience at Mr. Mike's. It isn't trying to be fancy. It's a pizzeria first, a bar second. Fun for a pizza pick up or even for going with a friend and playing pool in the back (every once in a while). Kudos Mr. Mike's for getting the NYC-style pizza thing down!

Felt like I was chewing cardboard, super greasy, if I wasn't starving I wouldn't have even finished a slice.

Though I am not a fan of New York style pizza, Mr. Mike's was quite impressive. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and sausage pizza, which they threw in the oven for a few minutes. The crust was very lite and quite tasty. The cheese and sauce was also tasty. The sausage (sliced) could have used a little more flavor, but the crisp that was added to it by putting it in the oven gave it that little bit of extra flavor. Pepperoni is just pepperoni. The girl at the front counter was extremely friendly as well. Atmosphere was nice as well, as it is just a little corner joint. The only changes I would make would add more cheese and sauce to the pizza. Otherwise, they do not skimp on the toppings. Definitely recommend this pizza.

Tasty, slightly expensive and decent variety of flavors. Burlington has this odd habit of having food as expensive as things I would find in San Francisco or NYC. Because of this, i'm gonna always compare it to food I would have in those kinds of place. In that regard, Mr. Mike's is very average. For Burlington, its one of the better places to grab a slice. The BBQ chicken and the pulled pork are nice options when students are tired of the standard pizza flavors. The place is a bit dive-y, but you're not here for a fancy dinner so no big deal. My late night pizza place of choice

I would probably say best pizza in town, but the only reason I give it 4 stars is because in the past I have had multiple times where they delivered me the wrong pizza or just screwed up an order (forgot an item). Otherwise the pizza is perfect for drunk munchies and regular munchies. I would say they kind that everybody knows them for is the Buffalo Chicken, which is dank. When I would go there I usually went with a slice of pesto and one of bacon cheeseburger. Along with those I would park myself at the bar and order anything and everything. Whether in the mood for a PBR tallboy or a hand grenade, Mr. Mikes and the bartenders were the sh1t when I lived in the BTV! Dope!

"Burlington Pizza Tour" "Best Fucking Slice" Finally! A smiling face ordering our food, quick delivery, a low price for a slice, a better deal for a whole pie. When the Pizza is fresh I'd say it is the best in town for what its worth. In my personal opinion the Pesto Pizza is one of the best slices I have had anywhere, sooo good and something I don't think I have seen anywhere else although I am sure it is out there. They have a great selection of slices and specialty pies to offer and that is all I really need from a pizza place. On top of that we had some great conversation with the bartender who didn't mind our loud spirits on the last stop of our tour. And I was happy it was the last stop because the Pizza was good, the drinks were cheap, and the mood was ripe. Well there you have it. Our tour is complete, Manhattans and Mike's take the top spots -Fu D.

Two words: Heat & Flies We were told this was THE PLACE to go and have pizza in Burlington by someone who was from the area. I am wondering now if this was a joke. I have to say, the pizza was great. I think if I lived in Burlington, I would mos def get pizza to go from here. It was the traditional NY style, thin crust pizza. We had a large group on a weeknight so we sort of had the place to ourselves but man, oh man, this place was hot and humid. I am convinced people in VT do not believe in A/C. It's August people! I'm all about conserving but I also am all about not melting in the summer heat! There was no escaping the heat so we took in a few Switchbacks (my new fave beer) but it was difficult to drink and eat while swatting the flies away. Yuck!

If you are under 21 in Burlington and want to go somewhere downtown at night, you've got two major options: a coffee shop (I'm thinking Muddy's or the Bean) or Mr. Mikes. Either of these are very good options, but if you're craving a hot slice of Buffalo chicken pie, or maybe a chance to ogle drunk UVMers, you have to go to Mr. Mikes. And even though it's your only option, it's a damn good one. Look, my favorite pizza around here is Leonardo's, but that's just because I'm a thick-crust kind of gal. If you want something a little thinner and stringier, Mr. Mikes should be your go-to. And lucky for you, Mr. Mikes is open until at least 1 am every night, and they deliver.

Just so you all know, 2:30am is never a good time to order a slice of pie but it had to be done since it is my duty to drop ultimate pizza knowledge on all our loyal SG fans. So without further ado, here is a recap of my dining experience at Mr. Mike's Pizzeria located in downtown Burlington, VT. On the frigid morning of January 5th, 2014 at approximately 2:32am a beaten Tombstone clumsily barged down the ironclad door of Mr. Mike's Pizzeria. He was hurt and in an immediate need of pizza recuperation which could only be provided by a hefty dose of a saucy, cheesy remedy. He'd been on the rugged and mountainous terrain of Vermont for the past three days attempting to herd several 4-packs of Vermont's finest and most illusive beer "The Heady Topper" only to be left hobbled and maimed by its untamed power. After surveying the crowd the surly Slice Guy made his way to the back of the chow line that was situated behind a few unruly patrons that were just begging for a late night altercation. Tombstone patiently waited in that spot for approximately 5 minutes to find out that the tricksey patrons decided to play a prank on the unfamiliar stranger by telling him that was where the pie line had ended. Tombstone did not approve of their trickery but finally made his way to the correct ordering location. Surprisingly he was met by a familiar face and at that very moment, when the two great friends were reunited the dastardly patrons that were previously mentioned tumbled out of the ironclad door in a sad scuffle that could only be described as embarrassing and lame. The pizza doctor greeted the two friends with kindness and offered Tombstone tasty remedy to aid in his recovery. Tombstone initially attempted to order two large pies but they were not available at that time, so he and his comrade ordered as many slices as they could fit into their satchel and went on their way. The pizza was an Italian thin crust, New York Neapolitan style. At first bite it seemed like the greatest pie Tombstone had ever consumed, lucky his companion reminded him that he had been wounded and should refrain from making rash and hasty pizza decisions. Looking back, I am thankful that I had friends along to keep me from giving a the SG fans a less than accurate opinion because now that it is all said-and-done, Tombstone can only provide Mr. Mike's Pizzeria with 3.5 slices. Why? The pizza was reheated at that time of day but overall, the taste was just what the doctor ordered. I cannot comment on the everyday freshness of Mr. Mike's due to the fact that I was forced to consume a reheated piece of pie but I will say that it was tasty given the circumstances. The pizza was pretty basic from the crushed tomato sauce to the overly salty/oily cheese. It's one redeeming quality was the crust. It's flavor was I enjoyable; it was yeasty and chewy similar to decently fresh bagel. Overall, Mr. Mike's was good. I would definitely recommend grabbing a slice if you want something to eat after a night of binge drinking with the locals. If I am ever in the area again I will most definitely stop by to see what type of quality they can offer during non-vampire hours. Tombstone's Rating: 3.5 Slices

Pizza varies from edible to "quick flush it down the toilet!" If you like to hang out w/drunk college students in a dirty, loud location, then this is the place. The prices are in line with all the other "very average" food in Burlington VT, as is the "quality" which is your standard fare pizza. They do have a FEW speciality pizzas which makes this place OK (for a quick slice and brew). The brew selection is decent and the local's choice is Switchback. Being a local and enjoying a Switchy is great, getting that brew for $3 Mon-wed is even better. It's almost enough to entice me to eat here, I said ALMOST!! PS Quick side note. Perhaps the WORST bathrooms ever. Crazy graffiti all over the doors, walls, and ceiling. I went to use the urinal one time and there was a bag of piss on top of it near the handle. Now who uses a urinal and pisses in a bag, only to place it on top of the toilet?? SO, use caution when entering the facilities there, if you dare.

After having some pricey drinks at One-Half, we came here for some cheap beer/pizza and honestly to play the buck shooting game. I found out quickly that they also had the erotic photo match game and went for that instead of shooting animals on a screen. The guys went back and forth between both since they were clearly torn on what was more entertaining...shooting things or looking at naked girls. It's a toss up! The place had a fun crowd since it seemed less pretentious and more laid back than the bars on Church Street. When we got tired of playing games we sat down at a booth for a while just to hang out and chat. I would definitely go back to this bar although I wonder how much the atmosphere changes during the academic year.

Great place to go if you need a late night snack. Was starving by the time I landed in the airport at midnight and went straight to Mr. Mike's with friends to grab a quick slice and a drink. I ordered a slice of their pulled pork pizza which had jalapeños and BBQ sauce. The place is full of drunk college kids so its not the most ideal place for people in their 30s or above.

I'm not a teetotaler or anything, but I've never even had a beer here. I come strictly for the slices. A slice of cheese is $2.50 even and it hits the spot if you're broke and have the munchies. The crust has a slight crunch to it that I really enjoy that I'm pretty sure comes from the reheating. Sometimes I opt for the pesto slice, which is definitely tasty, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra 50 cents. The pesto counts as a topping even though it displaces the tomato sauce. I understand that pesto is more expensive than tomato sauce, but it's not 50 cents per slice more expensive. This isn't the best pizza out there, but you could do worse for a slice of cheese.
