Listen up. Frozen yogurt does not mean you're making sacrifices. The banana peanut butter flavor by B&J is out of this world. I would choose it over their chunky, gooey chocolatey, funny name whatever any day. As for this particular location, it doesn't get much better than this - right in the heart of Church Street Marketplace in downtown Burlington with Lake Champlain only a few blocks away. To top it all off they offer outdoor seating and the line moves quickly. One more note: they sell ice cream cakes. And this funny new creation called a Brrr-rito (waffle cone rolled into a burrito shape and stuffed with ice cream)

This is where I had lunch today... three scoops of regular chocolate ice cream in a bowl. Mmm... Cost with tax: $5.35 Worth every penny. Church Street was vibrant with people. No line at this place though. I guess I got lucky.

It's Ben and Jerry's. It's Church Street. The two go together like chocolate and peanut butter. Like coffee and toffee. Like vanilla and cookie dough .... hmmmm... Seems like B&J know how to mix their ice creams well! When I lived in Vermont, we never tired of going to Ben and Jerry's. Some hints: - Ask for a special shopper card. You'll get 10% off all scoop shop purchases from April to April of the next year. Then the next year - ask for another - at a scoop shop, you can get a pint of any flavor. If they don't have it, they will pack it for you - once a year, it is free scoop day! The line will be long, but it will go quick! - the ice cream at the scoop shops are more fresh than that in the stores - (not that the stores is bad - I am still eating B&J here in Indianapolis!)

No trip to Burlington would be complete with out Ben and Jerry's. The store is huge and the line was out the door but moved quickly. They also offer smoothies, shakes, and sundaes. We settled on coconut seven layer bar and hazed and confused. Both excellent. They also have a good selection of ice cream cakes.

I've been eating B&J's since the 80's. I used to like it better, it's not the same since it was bought out by Unilever. That being said, this is a fun shop and even if I prefer more "home made" ice cream now, I still eat a pint of B&J's every month or two! There is always a line in the summer. And B&J's still gives back a lot to the Vermont community. There are very few summer festivals where you can't get free B&J's ice cream. Makes it hard for small competitors, I imagine, but B&J's isn't out to kill competition, just promote the community. Good vibe. I wish it had the simpler ingredients of yesteryear. I greatly miss the Wavy Gravy...

Great ice cream. Helpful staff. Wanted more souvenirs to purchase. Website was misleading and we thought the factory would be here.

I can't review this flagship yet but I love the ice cream and I can't believe I'm doing the first review! I'll mod this ASAP in a few when I get a cone! ...Later: yes, it was delicious! I had a cone of Cherry Garcia and came with a group of friends. The atmosphere just puts a smile on your face. Ya gotta admit, people are going to be happy in an ice cream place. Especially one with such light hearted founders: usatoday.com/story/money… The service was quick, in and out fast.

  • Krista J.

How can you not love B &J's? Delicious, indulgent ice cream in all kinds of crazy flavors (with new ones always coming out) and a positive ethos to boot! Definitely a business I enjoy supporting. The scoop shop in Burlington had friendly staff, free tastings, a quick-moving line, generous scoops, and outdoor seating. Yummmm....

  • Eric C.

Haven't had a bad visit here yet! Every time I come here, all the staff have been very patient and accommodating. The first time I ordered a mini Vermonster and one of my friends had nut allergies. They weren't disrespectful of her allergies and even went downstairs to get a new scoop of ice creams that didn't touch any of the ones that already had nuts in it. Also, if you have carshare VT, you can show your FOB device and get 10% off! There's no minimum on credit card so don't worry about getting a kids size (one scoop) and pay $2.50 for it. Don't forget to get some samples if you can! Hope you all have a great time like I did/do!

Love this place - it is a staple of Burlington, head in early in the afternoon to avoid a long wait!

Always a good place to go when you are strolling down church street. Park on the Burlington parking lot on cherry street for a free 2hr slot.

Girlfriend and I came on a Saturday night after dinner. I've been here a few times awhile ago, but it's never been this packed and I've never enjoyed it as much as this time. Even though it was raining, the place was packed. I love how they let you try a large spoonful of whatever ice cream you're thinking of getting so definitely SAMPLE BEFORE YOU ORDER! The one gripe I have is the cleanliness, the table we sat at was disgusting due to ice cream drippings but I can forgive that since it's hard to be that clean when eating ice cream. THE ICE CREAM CONE: #2 scoops of the strawberry cheesecake in a waffle cone, which is as delicious as it sounds. I expected it to be really heavy, but it wasn't at all. The flavors burst into a mini foodgasm in my mouth. I don't ever remember enjoying Ben & Jerry's this much, guess it was all in the time you go and flavor you get. The cone was a little on the sweet side for me, but I don't tend to like things that're too sweet so keep that in mind. Great choice for someone like me who usually don't get super sweet desserts. Perfect date spot even when the weather gets colder. I can't wait to go back now! I can officially say I like Ben & Jerry's ice cream now.

  • Mark M.

Went here during festival of fools and it was super busy, but the staff were still really friendly and happy to serve you. We got a shake and it was super tasty. Also picked up a t-shirt and an ice cream scoop. They have a small souvenier shelf at the back. They have a few tables to eat your ice cream.

This is the place to go if you're looking to shred your daily-calorie-intake budget and spend the last 5 or ten bucks in your wallet. Incredibly dense & creamy ice cream like no other. What else is there to say? Have fun!

  • Blanka N.

Went on 7/6/14 after not having gone for a while. It was a Saturday evening and the line was out the door! Yikes! It did however go by quickly and we even saw someone get proposed to at the BJs counter...kinda strange but hey to each their own. I had delicious ice cream and find that the kids size is enough for me.

  • Bradford C.

What do you call a cow that just gave birth? DE calfinated boom ok jokes aside this place is awesome. The mecca of icecream and to know the Ben and Jerry's story is to love the story. Two chubby kids make friends in 7th grade and go on to be two chubby guys that change the world. The tour was fun and def worth it. The tour guy def was having fun and most likely lives in a neighborhood that says "do not stay off the grass" if you know what I'm sayin. Great fun great ice cream.

I entered this shop and reverted back to an excited 8-year-old girl, starry eyes dazzled by all the delish choices. Despite what others have said I don't think it was touristy - I think it was quintessential B&J's; bright colourful and full of joy. The store sits perfectly amongst the hustle and bustle of Burlington's Church Street and there is nothing better than people-watching with a cup of sugary icey goodness to tuck into. Personally I found the choices better then those available at the factory in Waterbury, which was strange to me... all it was missing was the 'resurrected' flavour. I love you Ben & Jerry's xx!!

    (5)
  • Joe Y.

It's not like I have much to compare this awesome experience to since there isn't a whole lot of ice cream factories to visit. But if there were, this would still probably be the best. Plenty of parking, located right outside of the busy area of Waterbury. Once inside, you can buy your tickets OR check in on yelp for free one! Our your started 20 minutes after our arrival, so we first went and checked out the ice cream graveyard which is real gravestones with Ben and Jerry flavors retired from the past..it's a short 2-3 minute walk outside the factory. We then browsed the decent sized gift shop and it was time for the your. We first watched a short movie which was fun, then saw the production line, and then got to taste! I won't go into too much detail because f you're reading this it means you're considering going and trust me..just go. It's a blast and afterwards you can stop outside for a scoop since they have over 25 flavors to choose from.

  • Tracie C.

It's been a while since I purchased Ben and Jerry's ice cream basically because it became so expensive; however, I always enjoyed it. Just recently I purchased a some "chunky Monkey" flavored ice cream and was so disappointed because it had so very little chunks of anything in it. It was not like that before the company went public. So disappointing....

I was here summer of 2011. I came to Vermont from California to visit family. I was pretty excited when my aunt told me we were going to the Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop! I didn't expect it to be so freaking huge. They also give inside tours and walk you though how the ice-cream is made. Unfortunately When I was here they weren't giving tours that day. I still enjoyed the ice-cream i got and wondered around the shop. I was a good experience. The employees were very nice and professional and above all they enjoyed doing their job! I have no Idea when I will be back in Vermont, but if/when I do I'll make sure to drop by again! 5 Stars.

  • DaYeen M.

Great location. Tons of shops in the area. I was in Vermont for work and me and my coworker decided to take a stroll. Of course we were going to have Ben and Jerry's ice-cream! I also got a couple of lipgloss! Soooo good!

    (5)
  • Cami H.

I have always loved Coffee Heath Bar Crunch and DO NOT love their new version with toffee because of the waxy taste it leaves behind. I support fair trade and non-GMO ingredients, but will never buy this version again. Are there any original recipe flavors left?

  • Allison C.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Vermont, gorge yourself on Ben & Jerry's. Two scoops of Phish Food in a cup, and I am one happy girl. DASSIT.

    (4)
  • La H.

Tourist trap up the wazoo. I mean what do you expect - it's B&J's. It's funny how the factory is less expensive than the shops around the world. Still, the ice cream is good and they really do fill up that huge waffle cone to the max.

  • Shannon A.

You really can't go wrong with Ben and Jerry's! This place is a must. When in Burlington, VT.......... The line was long and intimidating but it moves fast. These people know what they are doing and get you through the line before you even realize it, you are paying! They have all the standard flavors, although I was bummed they were out of my Strawberry Cheesecake fave. Guess it is everyone else's fave too! There were 6 people in our party and we all ordered and were able to sit down and enjoy it despite the crowd. Luckily, people scarf down their ice cream and get out of dodge to walk it off!

  • Brad S.

For as much as ice cream is popular in the third-largest dairy producing state in the U.S., there's no company that better represents the creamy delicacy more than Ben and Jerry's. And while this isn't the original scoop shop, it's as close as you're gonna get. It's a bit disappointing to find this store set up exactly as any other of its franchises, given its significance, but it doesn't affect the taste of the goods. Particularly the Schweddy Balls, which I happened to find and proceeded to lick over the course of the evening.

In Burlington for a weekend trip and we were craving some treats. DW wanted to go to Friendly's? I said "what??", we are in the home of B & J, you can't be serious. So my niece and I finally convince her to go to the scoop shop, she couldn't have been happier. She's like a B & J crack addict now. There was a little bit of a line when we first got there but the line moved quickly. I went with a blackberry swirl milkshake, I think it could have had a little less milk. Every one else loved their choices. DW has now been stocking up on various B & J Pints since we go home.

Service was excellent. They really cater to people with food allergies, something I really appreciate. Great ice cream, great service, gets a five star from me.

  • K. Brooke Z.

Friendly and delicious! What else would you expect. Make sure to ask for samples, they are very open about letting you try before you buy. Every April they participate in the free scoop day as well! Never had a bad experience there.

  • Bailey Z.

Yes! I finally got to try Ben & Jerry's after I kept passing because of the long lines coming out of this place. They had the option of blending ice cream together with other ingredients like cookie so I got the coffee ice cream with the Oreo cookie and it came out soft-serve style, but it was really ice cream. The end result is a creamier and softer texture. For some reason, I felt the waffle cones here taste a lot better, softer, and fresher than other places. It's nice that this place has almost all the different varieties of Ben & Jerry's flavors in one location. This will probably be my go-to dessert place for the next few years and I will probably end up trying all the flavors. Do not judge!

So I was playing around on Foursquare on my cell phone and I get this note that there's a special Foursquare deal at Ben and Jerry's. Three scoops for three dollars. I blacked out and somehow woke up handing the cashier three dollars for some magnificent butter pecan and seven layer bar ice cream. The location is good, they sell merch and there's plenty of seating. This is the perfect Ben and Jerry's, even without the deal.

If you spend any time at all in Burlington, you HAVE to go to Ben and Jerry's. Seriously. It's the best ice cream ever. My personal faves are Phish Food, Cherry Garcia, New York Superfudge Chunk, Chocolate Therapy, Bonnaroo Buzz...hell, I like them all. Really, though, the location of this Ben and Jerry's Scoop Shop makes it seem almost magical, especially in the summer, when there are street performers and tourists all around. P.S. If you have enough people, why not go for a Vermonster? It's a huge bucket of ice cream with all the toppings you could possibly ask for...YUM!

  • Kim K.

Great Ben and Jerry's location with awesome in-store-only flavors (what's up Coconut 7 Layer Bar ice cream!!!). Nice staff, clean, cute decor.

    (4)
  • Jimmy N.

Fruit smoothie was terrible......... The staff is friendly. Cherry Garcia is my favorite. I always get 3 scoops of cherry Garcia with waffle cone. Please keep in mind, the prices here have risen drastically. 1 year ago approximately, I bought 3 scoops cherry Garcia in waffle come for 5$ but on October 28 2012 it costed $5-$6 for TWO scoops of cherry Garcia on waffle cone. That's pretty much a $1 price hike in 1 year. Good. Creamy. Flavorful. Smooth....... Too pricey though............

On my final day of visiting Burlington, I FINALLY got a chance to go to Ben and Jerry's even though we walked passed it several times a day for 4 days. Got there on Sunday and there was one other person in there. Score! They have B+J souveniers, like t-shirts and even lip balm! I got a cone with 2 scoops of Cookie Dough and ate it outside. Now, that was dumb of me. Ice cream. Under the sun. 80+ degrees. Let's just say licking the dripping cone made me feel very tawdry. LOL. But it was oh so tasty and worth the smuttiness:)

Always a great place to have lunch on Church Street - if you love ice cream for lunch!

  • Melanie B.

You have to come here if you ever make it to the home town of Ben and Jerry's ice cream! It's very bright and cheerful here. The bathroom was CLEAN! I mean really clean and everyone is super friendly here Burlington is so lively! We ordered the Coffee Coffee, Buzz Buzz Buzz which you can only find there since they discontinued it at the stores. Definitely pay homage to Ben and Jerry's if you ever make it out to Burlington, VT!

    (5)
  • K C.

No trip to Burlington VT is complete without ice cream at Ben & Jerry's! Doesn't matter how full we are from lunch, dinner, drinks, etc., Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz is a must before the drive home! :) The ice cream is the best, staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere puts everyone in a great mood.

  • Rose C.

Ben and Jerry's is a Vermont treasure. Of course it's a tourist trap but you can't not go if you're in the area. The ice cream is pricier than other brands but it's high quality and a lot of the flavors are fair trade (other brands are not). There is often a line but the service is quick and always very friendly.

    (5)
  • Meghan S.

It's Ben & Jerry's. Does it really need a review? If you are in Burlington and not a resident you go. It's pricey, but good quality. Get a small or baby and you will have plenty. I usually do a baby (watching the calories) in a waffle cone ;)

    (5)
  • Lindsay L.

Can't visit Vermont without a trip to Ben and Jerry's! I tried Jimmy Fallon's Late Night Snack - om nom nom. (I even went back the next day for the Chocolate Fudge Brownie, eek! Don't tell my calorie counting app!) Service was quick and friendly. Ice cream was cold and creamy. Lindsay is now fat and happy.

Sweet cream & cookies. Only sold at this store! I tried some of the other samples, and they were pretty good, too!

While eating my disappointing dumplings from Hong's across the way, my friends were getting their ice cream fix. One friend ended up coming out with some lemonade instead. I don't know why, but when my friend mentioned how the lemonade was freshly squeezed, I immediately wanted some. Especially when she mentioned limeade was available. I ended up going in to get some. But of course while you're waiting in line, you can't help but to look at the menu and try to stick with your original choice. Oh a smoothie? Hmmm that pomegranate lemonade sounds pretty awesome. Nope, sticking with the limeade. I watched the lady behind the counter using the juicer to juice the lime (I ordered a small), adding what I believe was simple syrup, water and ice. What topped it off was that when she was ringing me up, she told me to try it and see if it was too tart or not. So if it wasn't made to my liking, she would be able to adjust it. Now that is what I call customer service! I wish I had gotten her name but I hope she keeps it up. It definitely made my day.

The best Ice Cream, Always enjoy the bright colours and so many choices!! Shame they sold out, so one star less!

  • N C.

Holy crap the lines are long at this one. Not surprising given its location on Church Street. Mitigating factor: I've only ever visited this one in mid-summer, during the height of the tourist swarms. Which I was a part of. But hey, it's a Ben & Jerry's. Have some ice cream and enjoy.

    (3)
  • Laura H.

The line might look long but those guys can scoop fast! Make sure the check out the scoop shop only flavors! YUM!

    (5)
  • K P.

YUM. The end. Seriously. I had the pleasure of visiting this location on Tuesday night.....so tasty! I had such a hard time deciding on a flavor, but finally went with ... some kind of coconut 7 layer concoction: delightful! Nothing like strolling through this beautiful little town with a cup of Ben and Jerry's ... taking in the sights, people watching, and walking off this oh-so fattening treat! ha! :) This is a MUST when in Burlington!

  • CJ G.

Great ice cream shop for a hot summer night! Maybe even a cool winter night?! Sure why not! We had spent a few nights here for ice cream over the summer time. Each visit went great! The location well guarantee that it will be busy! Even busy the lines move quickly! They have MANY flavors to pick from! They even change week to week in some cases. Alot of them are interesting as well! I dont remember the names of some of them. I do recall a GREAT chocolate peanut butter favor! Peanut bridle! So you wont ever be bored with the same ol' flavors! Just add a waffle cone and your all set! The prices are more than fair as well! For 2 people you can both walk away with a waffle cone and ice cream for $10! More than fair. The ice creams are huge. So I hope you can eat! My only thing that bugs me is its size. Was hoping for more tables outside. Other than that everything is good! So we continue to go back! Summer time we like this spot for Ice cream! Only other place we go in its place is Cup & Cone. If your down town and want ice cream! Check out Ben and Jerry's scoop shop! Nothing down town for ice cream really competes! 4/5!

  • Dee H.

I don't know of anybody who could walk through Church Street and not go in at least once a day for a scoop or two. As soon as the door opens while passing, the full blast of sweetness completely overwhelms the senses. The scoop shop is delightfully set up inside and out.

    (4)
  • Brian P.

They have Oatmeal Cookie Crunch ice cream. Most Ben and Jerry's do not.

    (4)
  • Dominique D.

It was free scoop day, last week I think. I didn't take advantage, I should have! I love a big scoop of coffee, coffee, buzz, bzz, buzz in a baked waffle cone. It is intoxicating! I went on a tour of the factory located near Stowe, last fall. That was pretty fun. It was better to have a couple of friends in hand to add more fun to the experience! (I'm pretty sure that there was a scene from "Me, Myself, and Irene" that was filmed here.) I didn't like the sample of ice cream they gave you, it was Cake Batter. Don't get me wrong, I am a cake batter eater, just not in ice cream form. kekeke Obviously, you can tell I like creamy ice cream with lots of chucks. .....yummy.... I should have gone last week. :)

  • Derrick C.

Nothing like Ben & Jerry's straight from the source. The pride and joy of Vermont sells out of a huge corner spot on Church street with nearly all of their flavors. Would've been 5 stars if they had my Coffee Heath Bar Crunch but had to settle for the vanilla. Still so damn good...

    (4)
  • Chris C.

Typical Ben & Jerry's ice cream store located right on Church St. So convenience is key for them. I like that it is open year round and into the evenings. Enough said.

  • Becky S.

Ahh, B&J's. I mean, what girl doesn't drool over a pint of their ice cream while watching a chick flick? I guess I don't do it that often, but B&J's was always a staple at sleepovers when I was in high school. I suppose it's the mentality that you're getting fresher ice cream when you get it from the shop that's this close to the factory. But it really does taste yummy, not to mention they sell lots of silly tie-dye shirts and magnets and bumper stickers and... whatever else you may need. It's yummy, anyway.

  • Ryan B.

Quick service and delicious ice cream? I'm in. I went big, waffle cone with a scoop of the seven layer coconut. Busy, but the line moved quickly. Awesome.

I heart Ben and Jerry's but this is the te VERMONT Ben and Jerry's. It's huge, and it is the real deal! Go hear now.

You can't visit Vermont with out having Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. The scoop shop is close to the Crow Book Store on Church Street. The ice cream is a little pricey but it's packed with fun flavors.

Lovely shop with awesome ice cream. Nice place to sit outside while you ponder what other shops to go to. If you are in burlington you need to stop by.
