Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This place was bad. Not really worth wasting many words on crappy BBQ and bar food. Just go to Dixie Bones down the street, or I suppose Famous Dave's based on other reviews. I don't think there were any egregious errors in service or decor, so I'll spare it a one star review, but don't waste your time.

Short review: far better sauces than Dixie Bones and Famous Daves, terrible - rude and slow - service, probably won't return but we'll see if I'm a glutton for punishment (and pork). Long review: I had a horrible experience here which was only saved by the manager comping our meal, which won't stop me from writing a bad review but will at least let me tell a two-sided story. We were promptly seated and then relatively ignored for about 10 minutes at our table, and then forced to sit around waiting for our food for about 45 minutes (we ordered a salad and a sandwich, mind you) with no intel about where the food was. Our waitress was MIA, and I had to approach the hostess to track down our food, which was actually ready when I inquired and had been sitting around for long enough to get cold. When she resurfaced, the waitress then insisted that this was normal, and that 'we were in the same wait with everyone else' without at all acknowledging that the service was incredibly slow for a BBQ restaurant and that it was partially her fault for letting it fester in the kitchen. I don't appreciate the apparent apathy of our waitress or the lack of an apology for the food being late; the waitress turned on us as if this was our problem, including both the fact that the head chef was also MIA causing a backlog as well as her inability to bring out food or take orders - you know, things you pay a server for. Now, the flip side - their sauces were fairly tasty, and the West Coast club sandwich was good, as was the Nutty Chicken salad. I didn't have any of the BBQ entrees, but the menu looked like there were quite a few options I would like. So if it weren't for the personnel, I suppose this would have been a fair place to eat.

Oh where to start. We were a party of 6, 4 adults and 2 3 year olds. I was seated on a chair with food all over it which clung to my dress for the remainder of the evening. We all placed our orders for food and we got the pretzels, wings and something else that was all quite yummy. Then dinner arrived. I ordered the turkey for myself and I have never encountered turkey so dry, it was almost jerky like. A manager came over and asked how we were enjoying our food and we pointed out my turkey and he even said OH no you can't eat that it's way to dry, how about one of our special platters and whisked away my turkey jerky. About 40 min later after watching everyone at my table finish eating my food arrived after we inquired with someone else that came by to ask us how we were enjoying our meal. I now had meat jerky, but this point I just gave up thinking I've been cursed by gypsies. Our actual waitress finally came by and we explained about the food and she said oh how awful and gave us a free dessert. Now my this point the kids are restless my food just showed up we just told her to give it to us to go. We didn't leave much of a tip, honestly we encountered like 5 different people that came by our table and I still ended up with very dry food that even my dog eventually wouldn't eat, literally he wouldn't eat it. A couple of days later as we are going over our bank statement we noticed that our bill was for $5.00 more than what we put on the receipt! So not only did we get confusing service, me personally terrible food adding insult to injury they changed our receipt!

Food: B Service: A+ I thought this was a pretty cool spot. I enjoyed the atmosphere. I also thought the little ads throughout the restaurant were quite entertaining. I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars because I thought they had great customer service. Possibly some of the best service I've experienced in a while. The food is okay. I'm sure you can get great BBQ elsewhere, but it's worth a visit.

We have been here a few times, but our last visit was this past weekend before the birth of our new son. We had their smoked wings as an appetizer and I must say that they are pretty good. They kind of remind me of the wings at Hard Times Cafe... spice rubbed and not all sauced up. They are very tasty and easy to eat. I had a BBQ platter as usual. I got the brisket, the pulled pork and the sausage. All the meats were very good, although the brisket was a bit too fatty on some pieces and underseasoned on other pieces (but don't get me wrong...still good). The loaded baked potato also was tasty. They have a reasonable beer list for a chain restaurant. They had the Sam Adams Winter Lager on tap now so I was happy. The service was pretty good too. Overall, decent experience.

Came in because they were doing veterans day discount. Got 1 order wrong and my sandwich fell apart a soon as i tried to eat it. Asked for extra napkins and never got them. Out of a final bill of $29.00 i got a total of $2.10 taken off of what was suppose to be 30% off. I will certainly not be a repeat customer again.

I would have liked to give this place a higher rating, but I am not sure that it even deserves 3 stars. We walked in for a late dinner. The place is dead. The dinner rush has come and gone and apparently so has the host staff. Two parties of two were waiting in front of us at the host stand. The manager had to go wipe a table each time before he could seat another party. In the meantime you can see employees screwing off in the kitchen, instead of helping with the line at the door. After we were seated the service moved quickly and seemed friendly. But something was off. It did not feel sincere. And why did three different servers come to the table for no apparent reason right after we placed our order? It seemed as if they were sizing us up. The food was good. They offer smoked wings and I would recommend those. We also tried the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket is sliced very thinly, more like deli meat or roast beef, but it was very tender and flavorful. I had gravy on my mashed potatoes and it didn't offer any flavor. The fiery corn was fine and a nice change. On the way out, the staff was hanging out near the door and the 'good-byes' were a little over the top and some regular was also adding his 2 cents worth. I can't really put my finger on it, but this place gave me the creeps. Ever seen Deliverance?

I would like to live here. The ribs are amazing, kettle chips fabulous, and if dining in, the cocktails and staff are all delicious!

Great food and atmosphere. Despite being near a hotel I've never had to wait for a table. The BBQ is really good and I along recommended the pretzel appetizer.

Ok...my technique of glazing over reviews needs work. Apparently, there's a Smokey Bones and a Dixie Bones. Thankfully, I didn't get screwed on this one. However, I'm still going to skim reviews. Reading takes too much effort and reeks of caring. Not a bad choice for ribs. I ordered up a St Louis ribs plate with some pulled pork. The pulled pork was a little dry but tasty. The sauce wasn't bad at all. The ribs were pretty tender, falling off the bone. In a direct head to head with Famous Dave's, I gotta go Smokey Bones. The cole slaw was crunchy with a not overpowering tangy flavor. The fire roasted corn was essentially corn kernels that were mildly burnt. Not bad. The only downside was the portion size. 17 dollars later, I was still hungry. The sweet tea hit the spot, not the best I've had and not the worst. The service was good. The waitress was able to read my mind with respect to refills. When my tea hit the halfway mark, she came through with another tea. Nice. The place is decorated like a lodge or a log cabin. I might head back here after I give Dixie Bones a shot.

Food is OK, but the music is so loud you need ear muffs. We went two times and experienced the same thing. I think the staff turns it up when they are rolling silverware and it just stays up. Wrong music too. Rather than country it is garage band music pumped in with the garbage. AVOID AVOID....I might also mention that I am over 60% deaf in both ears!!

First time here. We enjoyed it and will go again. Baby back Ribs with dry rub were awesome. Server was excellent. Attentive but not over the top.

While I prefer Famous Dave's (by far!) for ribs, I think Smokey Bones has better chicken wings than any I've had in the DC area. I found out they wood smoke and slow cook the wings. Really delicious and a must try!! We'll probably go back, but only when we are in the mood for wings!! Service was excellent for the time we went there.

I used to like this place. Food was good when it first open. Had ribs one night & got sick. Went back for Father's Day (gotta go where dad chooses) & tried the bbq chicken but it tasted funny. The skillet cornbread (which I used to rave about) was undercooked. Also, where we were sitting I could smell whatever they cleaned the floor with. Definitely not a good experience. I would rather drive up to Red, Hot & Blue.

The only reason I am giving this place even one star is because the ribs were good and the waiter was great. Besides that... I think 8 people walked by a friend and myself before someone even LOOKED at us. Then the girl who sat us was just plain rude and snotty. We ordered these donuts at the end for desert, and they were stale and dry. The sauces were horrible. I couldn't even think of something funny or witty this was such a horrible experience.

Chain restaurant that I use to eat in PA and TN. Both the PA and TN places are much better, but it's not too bad. I guess they raised my expectations for BBQ at smokey bones. Definitely get the doughnut dessert!

Came here for a late lunch and the food was better than I thought it would be! I had passed by this place a lot and never given it a try so I thought why not? We started off with the Kettle Chips which were pretty awesome. Crispy and hot slices of fried potato with the bleu cheese sauce completely made my day! I had a burger with cheddar and bacon which they cooked to a perfect medium rare and was pretty tasty too! The mac n' cheese was just okay but I liked the fact it came out almost boiling hot. I'd rather it be like that than just lukewarm and getting colder by the second! For dessert the little doughnuts were great, especially the chocolate dipping sauce! As for the service, it was fantastic! Our waitress was on top of things and made sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be coming back here again!

We were just at the other Smokey Bones in Fredericksburg 3 days ago. I think this one is a bit better.

No better or worse than Famous Dave's IMO. The ribs were OK, but I've had waaaay better and the BBQ chicken was just ehhh. Our server was efficient and the re was pretty much no wait. I'm guessing that's because the place is pretty mediocre. If I lived in the area I'd probably alternate between this place and Famous Dave's solely for my love of BBQ... 3/5 stars for me

We've given this place three chances and it was horrible all three times. The first time was so so, the food and service were typical but nothing to brag about. The second time we walked out before ordering as our server was extremely rude and obviously hates his job. If you go here and they seat you in Todd's section just leave. The third time was about a week ago and the food was horrible. Out of the five of us who went, the two year old was the only one satisfied (you cant really screw up mac and cheese). As for the rest of us, we might as well have stayed home and cooked tv dinners. The server was completely lost and just didnt care, the chicken dishes were disgusting, the mashed potatoes and corn were equally gross. The baked beans and wings were the only decent things we had. The county fair has better food than this place which is very sad. After three tries this place has struck out. Take your money across the street to Famous Dave's. Smokey Bones is essentially a knock off anyway and does not compare. How it has stayed open so long is a mystery.

Of all the barbecue places I've been to in my life, this was one of them. Meats: okay. Ribs were overcooked (falling apart). The pork platter here is pulled, but not chopped, which is not my favorite style. Unfortunately, there's no pulled chicken on the menu at all; and they were out of the smoked turkey on our visit. Brisket was all right, and did have decent smoke flavor, but was too fatty. The sides were just meh. Baked beans were far too sweet. The sauces were likewise, uniformly, too sweet. Service when we went was okay, but not great. The waitress indicated it took so long (nearly half an hour) for our food to come out because they were more full than they expected. They were maybe half-full, at most, on a Sunday afternoon. Smokey Bones has a lot of other things on the menu besides barbecue - and for all I know, those may be better - but the barbecue is mediocre at best. I'll opt for Dixie Bones next time.

We had dinner here Friday night. The service was so bad that we left nothing for a tip. This is the first time we have ever done that. I worked my way through college as a waitress so, I did not make the no tip decision lightly. Ribs were dry and flavorless, the half chicken had a strong vinegar flavor. No on bothered to check and ask how our food was or question why we ate so little of it.

Like the first reviewer said, it basically comes down to Smokey Bones or Famous Dave. Smokey Bones offers a slightly better in food quality and atmosphere but at a little higher price. My wife always order the baby back ribs, although the St. Louis ribs are also very tasty. Portions are good. The cornbread appetizer was pretty good also. But in my opinion, they should really serve free bread as soon as guests sit at tables.

Mmm.. so good, but so bad (fatty!). I've been here twice and we just moved right nearby, which makes me happy. I've had the cornbread that comes in this castiron thinggy, babyback ribs, loaded nachos and took some beef brisket off of my husband's plate when he wasn't looking. Good food, good service.. mmmm.

Okie, you have two choices now when you go to Potomac Mills Mall - Dave's Famous BBQ - and Smokey Bones Barbeque and Grill. And let me tell you, there is a REAL difference between these two places. My wife and I sat down Saturday night for a late meal, and since I can't eat anything really spicey except BBQ, so this made my long hot day of walking around worthwhile. A short wait was punctuated by walking over to the bar area and being seated at a smallish table with a stone wall. At first, I thought it would be too loud, but it wasn't really that bad. We could see that many were still eating at the bar, and watch Geraldo comment on the most recent bridge collapse and my wife and I were wondering if there was Truman Capote's safe there or something. (Geraldo is as much an ambulance chaser to me now.) Anyway, we got the BBQ nachos, which were pretty good although not nearly enough BBQ for my personal preference. But still a nice portion to start with for even a larger table. Then we each got their combo meals, to try a little of everything. Make that a LOT of everything. Portion size was very nice, and we tried the chicken, smoked turkey breast, the St Louis ribs, the brisket and the smoked sausage. Ok, here's what to, and what not to do... First, skip the sausage - it's parboiled and then smoked. Juicey yes, but essentially flavorless. That's how they lost the 5th star. Ribs - not bad, but badly overcooked - as was their broccoli. Brisket, very good - but I've had some with better flavor. Okie, now the real stars of the meal. The BBQ chicken (whitemeat) was so good, and juicey with LOTS of flavor. No kidding, this stuff was sooooo good, it makes you want to grab someone from KFC or Popeye's - drag them into the store and point to it and say - "THIS IS HOW CHICKEN IS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE!" But, even so - it wasn't the best part of the meal. Honors, and I give those very infrequently - go to the chef who made the smoked turkey breast. This stuff... is magic in your mouth. Seriously, I want one of these for Christmas dinner. Yum. I'm sitting here at my desk typing this and I'm still salivating - it was that good. How good was it? Let me put it this way, if I was over at Famous Daves BBQ having their brisket (which I love) - I'd still seriously consider standing up from a free plate of it - just to walk over to Smokey Bones and ordering up a Smoked Turkey platter. Moist, hickory smoked and just the right seasonings to really make for a wonderful meal all by itself. So skip everything else, and just try the Turkey. Personally, I hope this starts a BBQ war in Potomac Mills... because no matter what - us foodies are gonna win.

I've been going to this place for years now every since I bought my house in a new housing complex nearby. Up until about 6 months ago, I song this place praises. This was my "Cheers"! I was a regular. Everybody knew my name. I knew the other "regulars" and it became my official happy hour spot where I'd meet my neighbors and friends for drinks and wings. Well, that all changed when management changed, which ironically occurred right about the time when Buffalo Wild Wings opened up a mile and a half away. Instead of S.B. remaining true to itself and it's customers, it tried to compete with B.W.W. While many of the changes were good (e.g., new TVs, larger bar space, additions to the menu, urban and pop music playing over the loud speakers, etc), many of the changes were BAD (e.g., new, YOUNG inexperienced bartenders and waitresses, sound boxes for the TVs were removed, happy hour 1/2 off specials were GONE). I stopped coming as much. After not coming for months, I stopped by the other night for happy hour after having a long, rough day. I really needed a drink. I sat in an almost empty restaurant on a Wednesday night waiting to be served by the bartender. I sat and sat and sat. At one point the bartender rested his hineparts up against the bar, arms folded, not doing a thing! Insulted, I walked out. I can spend my money elsewhere! I don't have to beg anyone to serve me. As I headed to Red Lobster across the street, I called the restaurant to tell the manager how bad my experience was. He offered me nothing but a half baked apology. I would have NEVER sat like that with old management. They cared more about their customers and those relationships they worked hard to develop with us. So... If you do decide to step foot in this place, ask for LATONYA. She's the best! She will take good care of you. If she's not there, turn around and WALK OUT, drive up the street to Buffalo Wild Wings. You'll get better wings for less and better service.

Ribs were very thin and dry and burnt on top. Plates are too large with a small amount of food on them making you feel you got skimped. If they put the food on an appropriate platter it would be more appealing. The sauces they bring out were odd. One was a BBQ style while the other was some honey mustard. You can buy better sauces in the grocery store. These were boring. BBQ beans were boring and non original. My daughter's mini burgers was something pressed out of a package. They were thin and dry. Not BBQ style backyard burgers at all. More like hockey pucks. Overall, I think I will stay away from this place. Stick to Red Hot And Blue.

The steak I ordered here was horrible. The hostess stared at my wife and I when we walked in and didn't greet us. Overall, it was a bad experience. The food was blah and the steak was horrendous.

Went to this restaurant expecting a Famous Dave's type of atmosphere. Our waiter had horribly long nails with dirt under them, ick. Had to ask for a beer three times, and the food just wasn't as good as expected. I had the pulled pork plate....dry, dry, dry. Restaurant had nice atmosphere, but the service and food ensured that I won't come back.

We were out for a car ride trying to occupy ourselves with our little baby. decided to drive to woodbridge - why -- who knows but it sounded good at the time. After reading some reviews decided to stop here and try the sliced smoked turkey breast platter which came with two sides. Normally in a place like this, hubby and I expect huge portions and we tend to share one dinner between us. So we only ordered 1 platter -- Cost was about $12. We were sorely disappointed in the amount of turkey -- it was probably about the equivalent of 4 deli slices of turkey. Now don't get me wrong == the flavor was great and I loved both BBQ sauces they provided but for the price -- well I am not sure. The sides we had were great -- veggies were actually blanched and not some wilted blob of mush most chains pass off as veggies and the Cinnamon apples were like having dessert for breakfast as a child. The onions rings were good but nothing special. Hubby felt that they really pushed the drinks. Service was fine. All in all - I was not that thrilled and I have been battling between two and three stars. I am not sure I would go back. Haven't had Famous Dave's BBQ in awhile (which is located across the street) so I cant compare the two but I think next time I'm in Woodbridge I will skip this one and try Dixie Bones which yelpers seem to like more.

  • Luis C.

Good service, good atmosphere. All I had was the smoked wings and I was a bit disappointed. The wings were too crispy and really dry. They didn't put nearly enough sauce on the wings so I had to dunk the whole wing in the blue cheese. I would go back maybe one more time to try something different.

This is definitely the best BBQ joint around. Their pick two with sausage and turkey with mashed potatoes and broccoli is to die for. And their burgers as awesome also.

This is quickly becoming our favorite bbq place. It's a nice atmosphere and the bbq is always good. We really enjoy the buffalo chicken dip. But they are willing to make a few changes lee our request every time without issue. I also like how they have veggies for the kids meals. I hate ordering French fries for my kids. They have fresh options that are always right on.

let me start by saying my food was good but how can you mess up chicken fingers? so anyways, the service is TERRIBLE, I should have read the reviews first because they are true. took a while to even be greeted and when asking for someone to serve us, completely got brushed off by the staff. Our server was nice server but new, I don't blame him, I blame the people who trained him (so kudos Jacob for doing your best). Took a while to get our food. My coworkers order was wrong. They charged me for a game I didn't play on the console. and to make it worse, the hygiene of one of the bartenders who serviced us was piss poor. she had on a tank top with her bra showing and her hair just messy and out and stood near greeter stand out in the open with our food because she didn't know which table to go to. Lastly, when addressing all this management, she kind of brushed it off like whatever. oh yeah, apparently having children sit at the bar is appropriate nowadays? please read this review and go somewhere else. there has to be a better smokey bones elsewhere or a different restaurant all together.

Wish I read about the advice here. Turn around and head out. The service is horrible. Took us an hour to get our drinks (4 waters, 2 teas and a coke). We had to go to the bar to get a drink. Our server took our order (after we had been sat for 20 minutes). We saw him maybe 4 times total. We were done with our meal before he came by to check. It may be due to the extremely under staffed building. The food is OK. Nothing to write home about. It does come quickly from time it is placed in the system (our server took awhile to do that) to your table. The cleanliness is disgusting. We got a pitcher of water and it had a bug in it. Most of our party of 6 needed new silverware because of it not being clean. Another member of our group had a bug in her drink too. You will want to probably avoid this place.

Wow. My advice, turn around and leave! Poor service having to ask for things multiple times. An appetizer plate was served at our table with a long hair on it. We had to get two new sets of silverware with food stuck on them. Asked over and over for refills of drinks and waters. After 50 minutes we received our food. Just our service from seat to door was nearly an hour and a half. Food was ok but made you wonder if this is how they give you service, what could be up with the food?! Game/pay consoles were on the table and my children grabbed them and of course began immediately playing. We got a surprise charge on our bill for the game play! The waiter didn't explain the console nor was it on the menu. The manager did agree to take it off. Then the waiter left our table twice to bring us a bill and then refused to give us one. Making us use the console to pay. He split our bill incorrectly and refused to fix it or give us a paper bill (Which was possible). We were also over-charged for a side the waiter told us the wrong price.

Not my favorite- the food was fair the waitress was GOOD- i can see why people like this place. It took a little bit to get our food, however she was good because we also ordered a "togo" meal for our Mom and the waitress had it ready by the end of our meal. Not sure I will return, however if you want some BBQ food you might want to try this place..

I'm surprised by all the bad reviews, I have been here twice and each time has been a pleasant one. The servers were all kinda and attentive and the food was good, my favorite being the brisket and the bag of donuts. I'll return again i'm sure, I'd say stop in, I've only had positive experiences from the staff and food there.

I phoned in my to go order at 545 pm with a 630 pick up. Got there at 628 pm. Had to ask to be helped. Order took another twenty minutes and my sides were packaged with aluminum foil on top instead of a proper lid. My mother who doesn't drive loves their food. I just told her she needs to find someone else to get it for her. Poor service is an understatement.

The only good thing here are there shots. The price is good but the food not so good! I have been here twice since my boyfriends likes the ribs. They are ok. I ordered there wings the first time and they were nasty, all burnt. The second time I have there chicken pasta, something like that. It was horrible. I was also cold! I gave it 2 stars cuz the drinks are good and for the price. The only thing u will like is there ribs other then that everything else sucks.

I came with my family after a trip to Potomac Mills. I have heard some good things about other Smokey Bones so we decided to see how this one would turn out. Once we sat down at the table we didn't get service or even a hello from anyone, until 5-7 minutes later. She came over and it felt like she was trying to rush us, even after we had to wait. I understand she's a bartender but there was maybe 2 people at the bar and there was another bartender there. Fried pickles were just ok, it was very greasy and the coating was thick and had an awful seasoning. Our entrees took about 30 minutes to come out, for what reason...I have no idea because then food came out horrible anyways. My dad ordered the Tuscan mac and cheese. He had asked questions about the popcorn in the spicy chicken mac and cheese but he told her he wanted the Tuscan one. Guess what came out? Yup the spicy chicken one. She obviously did not listen. I ordered the 3 meat combo with grilled chicken, smokey wings and sausage. It came out and I looked at it and thought it was a kids meal. The portion size for $18 was sad. 4 of the smallest wings you can find, the chicken was cold and the sausage was overcooked. By then I was annoying and hungry so I didn't even tell her about the cold chicken. My sister ordered the chicken and bacon pizza but the dough was like fried pita bread, not even pizza dough. My other sister ordered a "dry rub" ribs with mash potatoes and mac and cheese. Her dry rub had alot of sauce on it, wait what? Mash potatoes had no flavor to it, it tasted like something from a box. Not fresh at all, have the cooks ever heard of salt and pepper? She had one bite and didn't eat anymore. This was also how it was for the mac and cheese, the cheese tasted old and not flavor at all. I mean, at least use kraft if you don't know how to make mac and cheese. They took long to bring out the food I would think it would be good but it was awful. The portion sizes were skimp and the service was slow. Please please go to Famous Daves, you can get so much more for your money and HOT chicken. Wow amazing right! And they have better and faster service there. She didn't even come over to check on how we were doing. And we had to look for her for our check after 10 minutes of sitting there. Service is in need of serious training and help! Food needs to be revamped...with seasoning in everything. All I can say is its slow and a waste of money. All the food here tastes like it's frozen and heated up in the microwave. I would never recommend this place.

Food was not bad but service needs some serious work. Sitting in the bar area.. Had to flag down our server multiple times. Even though I was chatting with my friend that I was here with, it was definitely a good hour before we got our food. I had fish and chips, and my friend the macaroni (Philly version). Both were pretty good, typical American dinner food.. my fish was crispy enough and fries were pretty good. Flagged down the server a few more times throughout the meal.. there were convenient tablets at every table for you to check yourself out. I liked that it was easy to split the check down the middle this way. Mediocre...

Guess they are under new management. Apparently hes scared away all the old staff, and replaced them with a bunch of children, that have no place waiting in a bar. I asked our server, with puke green colored hair, think her name was Starr (lol!), what kinds of IPAs they had. She replied with "huh, whats that?" Are you serious???... Like what happened to Misti, Jackie, and Rachel?? Im mean the servers that actually made this place awesome??? Only reasons me and my buddy's would even bother going in this place (since the food sucks). Cops show up at night and harass people in parking lot too. Had a friend of mine cuffed for no reason. Not a great way to spend your night after a hard days work. This place is going to S***.

AMAZING! I'm not a huge fan of BBQ in general, but my friends suggested it. The staff was friendly and the scene was exciting! Tons of people there and the food still came out fast. The club sandwich is delicious. I will be back! If you want to just sit back and people watch OR get out for some fun interaction, this is a great place. I'll be back!

My boyfriend and I have recently been coming here a lot after we get off work. We've never had any issues with food, drinks, or service! I literally get the same thing every time and I never get sick of it (corn bread & 8 smoked wings). The manager is really nice too! We've been seeing him a lot lately greeting tables and making sure everything is running smoothly. I feel like a lot of people forget that this is one of the few places open late in Woodbridge, so of course it's going to get busy but for us, the employees handle it well. We'll definitely keep coming back!

So first time here and overall it was OK. Service was not the best but we still got our food in a decent time. Price was pretty decent as well. I would come back to atmosphere was good like all the TV'S they had.

I had the pulled pork and coleslaw lunch plate. The pork and the available sauces were fine, but the coleslaw had too much mayo for my taste. I was attending with a large party that ordered a variety of things and no one voiced any specific complaints. The little electronic thing on the table is very convenient for splitting a check amongst a large party, but if you look at it or breath on it prior to eating it will charge you for getting entertained by it.

The dish that I ordered was disgusting. I had the 1/4 chicken with baked beans and mashed potatoes. The beans were too soupy and the chicken tastes like it was cooked in a microwave. Nasty, nasty, and nasty! This was my first time eating here. :(

Having had Smokey Bones on a "stop and try" list when in the area I was able to finally visit yesterday. The context is important to consider so lemme say I arrived on a weekday at 10:45am (15 mins before opening) and with a blocked parking lot. The parking lot was being sealed and all entrances had those hated orange construction cones. I was glad that upkeep of the curb appeal was being performed and this didn't deter me but most likely it did a handful of others as I had the place completely to myself for the first 20 mins. Context ended, you get the point. My server was all ears and attentive! Summer took appetizer and drink order quickly, professionaly demonstrated excellent people skills. She made sure drinks were refilled without me having inquiry. I stayed to watch a World Cup game so during the course of lunch many other patrons came and went and she kept up with the stream of in and outs. Good service in my opinion for a light but steady lunch hour. I will return during a peak dinner hour for another gauge. Food was good! I ordered the 3 meat combo to try many different options and selected The their signature "Smokey Wings", Hand Pulled Pork and the Spicy sausage. The platter came with 2 sides and I went traditional; Mac 'n Cheese and Roasted corn. The plate arrived extremely warm and Summer warned me before serving. Smokey Wings had a hearty dry rub which was flavorful and awoke the tastebuds and I didn't have to deal with unwanted sauce as they come on the side. Standard sized wing, hot and fresh... Good for me! The pulled pork was probably my least favorite as it didn't "wow" me but it was good. It came in between miniature sized Texas Toast slices and again, sauces can be added at your liking. The spicy sausage did surprise me and I liked it!! It is not "spicy" so you're forewarned but for me I was hoping I could handle it and delightfully I ate both portions on the plate with the mustard sauce. Mac 'n Cheese was ABOVE average and one of the better standard recipe offerings I have had in NOVA in years. Thumbs up there for general Mac 'n Cheese. My opinion after observing other staff and management is that this could easily be a 4-4.5 spot for casual dining in Woodbridge but there are some attitudes and staff training that MUST be done to. Get there. Good food presented well... Just needs staff focus. Take Summer's example and mimic her and they'll be moving up the ladder of success.

I used to like this place. We went for dinner tonight and it was very disappointing. We ordered a couple of beers and it took 5 minutes for the waiter to return to tell us they didn't have the kind we ordered. I reordered and it took 10 minutes to get that. I ordered a house rack of baby backs and when they came they were very dry. They used to be moist and falling off the bone. These were pretty firm and not very hot. So slow service and mediocre food is worth two stars.

Came here for lunch today for the first time and the service was awesome!!. Clean fun environment. The bar looks great. Our server Cyndi was very nice and service was fast and kept our drinks full. The manager (I think his name was Will) came to greet us and made sure everything was good. Overall great place!. Will definitely be coming back!

Arrived here at 8pm on a Friday night, starved! The place wasn't that busy. My daughter and I were seated right away, which was a plus. However, it went all downhill from here. It took another 10 minutes for our server to find us for our drink orders. We placed our food orders right away and it took 38 minutes (yes, I timed it based on my Yelp check-in) for our meals to arrive. My daughter ordered a burger and I had a double-meat combo platter. When the server finally brought us our plates, he did apologize, and told us it took awhile to make the kettle chips. He also mentioned that he would bring us some more because they did not put enough on our plates. Really? Ok, it's now past 9pm and my poor daughter is fighting sleep. She would of put her head on the table but that's another reason we will most likely never come back. This place needs a thorough scrub down. From the tables and sills, to the seats and floors. If it is like this in your open area, what does the kitchen look like? Hmmmm...

  • Sarah H.

Let me start by saying that the only people that should eat here are those with no respect for their tastebuds . The smoked St.Louis ribs are greasy , generic and over seasoned (probably to cover up for the poor meat quality) with no smokey flavor whatsoever . Honestly they tasted more like they were microwaved and at $17.99 for half of a rack , it's a joke people. I've eaten at the best bbq restaurants and paid less than that for a quality meal. I told my wife that I was in the mood for some good barbecue for dinner...regrettably I left Smokey Bones still wishing for good barbecue.

Just left there was our first visit and last. Our table and eating area had several ants that chose to join us for dinner. We mentioned it to our waitress and she went to find the manager. A gentleman showed up (unsure if he was the manager) and cleared our plates. Someone came to clear the rest and wipe the table down,as we waited to leave our waitress said the manager would take care of the bill. We left not eating half our food and no apology. Will not visit again.

The worst service I ever had! The bartender never left a table where he was talking to God knows who. First... Waited way to long for him to get me a drink... Second when my food came out had to wait 10 minuets for a fork would have asked but no one was behind the bar. Plus the salad I got was terrible. My wife is a bartender so she is critical of restaurant service bc she is in the business. I on the other hand am not and until this review have never written a bad review. Try it if you want but I wouldn't.

Major downhill turn! We just left after sitting for 15 minutes with no server even acknowledging us. This is AFTER two servers came in out section and walked right past us! The last visit we will make.

Don't bother spending your hard earned money here. We came here expecting good BBQ and steak and instead got a paper thin Denny's quality steak and nachos that lacked toppings. Won't be coming here again. I would rate less than one star if I could!

    (1)
  • Candace L.

I'm torn on how to rate this place because honestly, my friends and I are regulars here, but it's surely not for the food. Don't get me wrong, a good basket of chicken tenders or some cheese fries are always a table pleaser in a place where everyone is also drinking! However, if I'm not planning on having a few drinks I do normally choose somewhere that the food is more appealing to me. But, the drink prices are great and the bartenders Asheli and Katelin are awesome! When we sit in the bar "cocktail" area we always request Beth! She's our favorite! She's always on top of things and makes sure we're always well taken care of! Otherwise, if our few favorites aren't there we usually wait forever for our drinks and have had multiple other rough experiences, but still I come back a lot and usually enjoy my time there, and no matter what it's always worth it because of the low drink prices.

The service was horrible but the food was decent. Sitting in the bar area and it took 9 minutes after we were sat for them to take our drink order. I can only imagine what its like when its actually busy.

There was a about a 25 min wait which was not too bad for a Saturday night. The hostesses on the other hand had a hard time writing down the correct names for the wait list. Jake was Jack, April was Aly ect... once finally seated took a while for the server to come. He did warn us that food was coming out slower than usual. My water cup had a crack in it and was leaking everywhere. My husband ordered the pound burger. You would think that fries and cheese came with it but nope that is extra. With a side of mayo.I ordered the rib combo with smoked wings, loaded baked potato and coleslaw. Food finally comes out, must have been under the heat lamp for a very long time because the bun on the burger was so hard. My husband said ths meat was good except the salt was not evenly distributed. Of course as usual no side of mayo. My dinner was very good. The smoked wings were sweet and crispy. Although they are called smoked wings they are definitely also fried. Good thing because I hate soggy wings. They forgot to bring out my coleslaw and when they did I wish they hadn't. It was the worse part of my meal. Hot coleslaw yuck. Over food was not bad. We will probably be back if we are in ths area and nof when they are busy.

For a place to catch NFL games, this place is majorly slept on. Extremely cheap drinks, I'm talking $2.50 beers, $3.50 mixed drinks, $7.00 pitchers. Bring a girl if she says 'oh yeah I like football' or if you have a couple of your boys that want to check their smartphones while checking their fantasy teams. The food is greasy and cheap, but what are you to expect. I once saw two grown ass men sitting in separate areas wearing a Peyton and Eli jerseys with the girlies here. S'cute.

Waited around 20 minutes for a table. When we were seated, I noticed that around 15-20 tables were empty. I jokingly asked the host if someone reserved 18 empty tables. He told me that the kitchen was getting too backed up, so rather than bring the food out slowly, they just stopped seating people. Ok then. The people behind me spent the whole night sending their food back over and over because it wasn't cooked correctly and complaining to the manager. I saw the waiter drop food on the floor for the table to the left of me. I ordered the cornbread appetizer, and for entre, ordered the brat bites (or something like that), which is sliced bratwurst with some dipping sauces. I asked the waiter if it comes with any sides, and he told me it doesn't because it's an appetizer. I showed him on the menu where it says it's an entre but he insisted it's an appetizer. Later on he came back and told me that I'm right, it is an entre and he got confused. Anyway, appetizers and entres were served simultaneously. The cornbread was overcooked and tasted nothing like cornbread. It was more like a yellow corn-tasting cake. It was light and fluffy instead of dense and flavorful. The bratwurst was overcooked to death. It was so overcooked that I could hardly get my fork into it. I've cooked sausage before and it's very hard to overcook a sausage. I have no idea how they managed to screw this up. The pretzel was rubbery tasting, as if it was frozen and microwaved. The dipping sauces, french fries, and beans were really good and almost made up for the fact that the bratwurst sucked.

Food is good, especially the ribs, sides, and wings but the burgers are not good. The meat tastes off...very processed. SERVICE....well it's hit or miss lately it's been missing so bad when we recently went and I had to write a letter to both the restaurant and corporate office to complain since we were so surprised of the level of service from wait and kitchen staff. We also observed the same bad service and other complaints from 3 other tables around us. Maybe better off to order to go :(

    (2)
  • Roberta W.

I spent time here and April and the food was decent and service was horrible. I am back, hoping things had changed......nope! The bar had three people spread out so the four of us had to get a table. We sit down and 15 minutes later the waitress comes over. We order everything at once. 10 minutes later, my 4 ounce vodka tonic arrives. My friend requested all flappers for wings and still got half and half. Food was dropped and waitress was gone for the rest of the meal! No more drinks, food or anything! The waitress did try to fix the wing issue, but the damage was done. I know they do not care, but I was there five nights a week in April. I will not go back again. I do not know if it is lazy staff or bad management, but this place needs a new staff.

Horrible customer service. I usually love Smokey Bone's but I will never return due to the disrespect and the lack of professionalism of the staff. Water was accidentally spilled at our table and a waiter from another section threw an insult our way about our sloppiness. (I believe his name was Nick.) That waiter ruined our dining experience and when the situation was brought up to the manager, not much was done. I don't enjoying being insulted when I go to a restaurant by the staff. Will never return here again.

I went here a few days ago with my wife and the overall experience was kind of sad. First off, the picture of the wrap-around bar they have listed under the photos is not accurate. The bar looks nothing like that. Upon entering we got the feeling that the service was going to be a little bit off. The dining room is actually quite smaller than you would think looking at the photos. Its all centered around the bar but it looks as if they try to turn it into a dance floor after midnight (which obviously they don't but you get the idea). The service was pretty sketchy. I got the feeling from all the people we worked with that they didn't want to be there or were in a different headspace. You could see this in the way people would joke around with each other, especially in the back of house. The kitchen is not closed off, which it should be. We could see the large 8-foot entrance to the kitchen right from the table we were sitting at and it looked kind of gross so I wasn't too thrilled to be watching that while waiting for our food. The food: C+. We started with the pretzels which were okay but greasy as hell. They also tasted very frozen and were rubbery. I don't know how you make a pretzel greasy but they seemed to be coated in some form of indistinguishable oil. I got the barbecue which was alright, but nothing to write home about. My wife ordered the brisket sandwich which I can only describe as "sad". They make it seem like its piled high but it was not. It was just some meat piled ontop of a buttery piece of bread with some cheese melted on it. Bourbon and coke's here were only $3.50 so thats a plus. We won't be back though. If you're looking for american fare or good barbecue go right across the street to Smokey Bones. Much better.

The reason this gets a star is that the waitresses were very easy on the eyes and the drinks were cheap. That being said, the food was HORRIBLE and was prolly prepared the previous day, and on top of that, I got the worst case of the runs in recorded history. I'm never ever going there again!

This is a good, chain bbq restaurant. The food is usually good, but sometimes the pulled pork isn't very good, to fatty or mushy. The sauces are fantastic. The appetizers are good, as are the smoked wings. the desserts are passable. They have a lot of TVs, but if you want to watch anything other then the Re&$k@ds you will have to ask and they may say no.

Friends birthday, so he choose this place. Everyone's food and beer was fine. However, what is with the service of this place. We barely got attention from our waitress, so it took forever to get our checks. Also the checks were all done individually, but all 6 of us are couples, so there should have only been 3 separate checks. Yea the service of this place needs to be tweeked a bit.

Literally the worst service we've ever received. Waited on a drink for 30 minutes and my table of 3 (not including me) finished a pitcher and apps before the drink came... and then my husbands food came out almost 20 minutes before the rest of the table. Then they brought two more entrees and left the last female at out table waiting for another 5 minutes. Redic....won't be back and wouldn't recommend it.

Our new favorite BBQ place, for when we feel like making the trip down from Alexandria. Fiance gets steaks when we come here, and says they're on par with Mike's American Grill (which is way pricier!). He also gets an appetizer of wings and whatever sauces they're tossed in (we have picked a couple different flavors) they still come out great. First time there I got Pulled Pork with a side of mac & cheese. Very great! Second time there I got the Asiago Chicken Penne. Skip it. I was not impressed. Fiance was a huge fan of their "cornbread". More like corn cake as it is very thick and heavy. It comes with a side of what we decided must be some sort of icing. The first time we were there we received excellent service, and told the manager so. The second time the service was still great, but nothing that shouldn't be expected. Now to find reasons to head to Woodbridge to go back.... IKEA? Carmax?

You get your normal crappy service that you get from all the restaurants on Prince William PKWY here. Took 30min to seat us for some reason even though the place had tons of empty tables. Then the server forgot our appetizer and brought it out the same time as the entrée. Then he forgot the soup one of us ordered and still tried to charge us it. He never came by to refill anyone's drinks. The food was nothing special either. The manager didn't seem like he could handle the restaurant or his staff.

I only have one gripe about this place and it has nothing to do with the food.... The music is absolute sh*+. I would much rather eat in silence. The food is great. Servers are always nice. It's just the music. It's crap and it's super loud. I'd be fine with the volume if the playlist wasn't picked out my a 13 year old girl.

Best drink specials in town!!!!! open daily til 2am? kitchen doesn't close til 115-130. you can't beat that. And they have late night specials for the food as well. The crowd itself is young and could be at times...Ratchet lol But overall, great place to catch a drink and socialize with friends.

The parents brought us here because of rave reviews and I was hoping to see what all the fuss was about. We went for dinner around 730 on saturday night and the place was packed with a wait list. A good sign. After only a 20 minute wait we were seated and was loving the atmosphere; good music, friendly staff and provocative posters. However after waiting for 30 minutes after being seated we finally had to flag down a hostess for some drinks. 20 minutes later the cokes come out but not the beers which we were explained to by a busser that those were bar drinks and take a little longer. Finally our waitress greets us with a beer special I didn't order apologizes and takes our order...50 minutes in. 30 minutes later appetizers come out. Wrong. We're hungry, we dive in anyway. The nachos are delicious and the pulled pork on top super juicy. After another 30 minutes, drinks empty and eyes wandering, our meals come out from a food runner. Ribs are fall off the bone and I love that they have a selection of BBQ sauces at the table to give them an extra dousing. A manager walks by at just about the time we've spent two hours there and asks how everything was. Our response was "can we tip the cooks instead". The nice enough manager comped the appetizer and drinks and we paid about 20 minutes later after he boxed up two of our meals that we were just too annoyed to eat at the moment. Honestly though great BBQ that rivals some of the neighborhood holes in the wall. tl; dr come for the great BBQ but expect to be proactive about finding a waiter

It's a nice place to go to get some brown sugar wings which are sticky but sweet. I like the chicken ziti it's very good but the chicken is a little overcooked for my taste but the sauce is good. I haven't had bad service there

I really, really want to give this more stars. When Smokey Bones is good, it's very good, but when it's bad, it's wicked. Minor nit - Seating: The people who seat you seem to have a strange habit: if there's a room of eight booths, with one of them occupied, you will be seated right next to the booth that's already occupied. I've never see this before, and it's annoying. There's not enough white noise to cover up your neighbors, so everyone is intensely aware of what's going on at the other table. Slightly bigger nit - Bloody Mary: I love a bloody mary with my burger. Theirs are basically tomato juice and vodka. You have to ask for spice. It's not mild: it's completely unspiced! Who asks for a bloody mary like that? Major nit - Build-a-burger: I love the build-a-burger option. You can fill out everything you want on a tablet, and there are tons of toppings and meat options. It's always incredibly yummy... when they don't screw it up. Let us be clear: they screw it up often. I've taken to taking a picture of my ticket before handing it over because every single time, something gets forgotten. One time, it was the egg. Another time, it was bacon. Last night, my husband was missing two of his toppings and got the completely wrong sauces. This happens every single time. One time, it was so bad that our entire meal was comped. I'm not sure where the screw-up is, but I have a feeling it's with the waiters. One let slip that he 'entered the ticket wrong.' Also, since what comes out is generally well made, I have a hard time believing that the cooks in the back are great at cooking and fail at reading.

So ive returned to this place time and time again and for one good reason. WINGS! WINGS! WINGS! The smoked wings are unbeatable to all competitors in the region. They definitely got it down. Bar area is a cool place to hang out. Glad they turned their weekends into more of a sports atmosphere. Sign up for the Smokey Bones rewards card, it pays off and makes the place a solid 4 stars. Improvements: They could add a variety of beers at the bar. A few microbrews would definitely liven this place up big time.

  • Shane R.

I've been to this place a few times and it's always been fairly quiet and empty. So if you hate waiting in long lines, this is a good choice. For some reason, though, they seem to like sticking the patrons right up against each other in this establishment. So you'll have this big restaurant, most of it empty, with everyone stuffed in a corner. I recommend sitting over on the bar side if given the option. Like the atmosphere better on that side and you have a decent amounts of tv screens to watch if that's your bag. The burgers here are pretty good, as are the french fries. If you're looking for burgers and fries, this is a good place to go. The BBQ is not nearly as good, unless you enjoy eating a lot of FAT.. literally. The donuts you can get for dessert are pretty good. Not a lot of options when it comes to appetizers. Overall, this isn't a bad place. Just realize that it's typically empty for a reason.

I was in the area for a wedding and late one night we stumbled into Smokey Bones. We were pleasantly surprised by the ribs and the wings, they were both meaty and flavorful. The mac & cheese is basically Kraft Mac & Cheese from the blue box, nothing homemade about it. Fast forward a few months and we were driving to PA from NC and decided to stop in again, big mistake. The ribs were dry, the wings were ok but we had a few 'knubs' being passed off as wings. The sweet potato sticks are basically just sweet potato fries and that was probably the best thing on our plates during our second visit. This seems like a neighborhood place and most of the folks in the bar area seems to be friends and or employees. The service is ok, but I will not be back. Famous Dave's is across the street and while they're a chain also they have much better food.

We were a little scared after reading yelp reviews, but we were seated immediately, waiter was spot on and food came out fast, hot and tasty. I loved my skinny margarita too, but only had one so its not the booze talking.

There was no manager or someone to greet you when you walked in. The place smelled and could use a good cleaning. The food however was good and was served hot, the way I like it. The server never returned to my table to offer drink refills, but he was busy with other customers and may have been the only server on duty. This place seems to have a very thin staff which adversely affects customer service. I liked the food but the service was terrible. Not sure if I am returning since Woodbridge has many excellent restaurants now.

The bbq did not taste real deal to me. But I would like to give them a second try. I ordered the wings and ribs. Both seemed a little over cooked. The sides we good and atmosphere was awesome. Always appears to be a wait when I drive by. Will try again to confirm suspicion.

I have been here twice and both times were tragic. I left with a stomach ache, and was upset from the poor service. If you are looking to pick up some gross Woodbridge bar garbage, then go ahead - otherwise, skip it.

My husband, my parents and I went to SB after a long day of trekking around Ikea. I had never been before, and love Famous Dave's, so I was anxious to try this. We walked in and were seated right away. Our waiter - Nelson - was super nice and very attentive. He never let our glasses get empty (brownie points for me on that), and kept a watchful eye on us even though they were busy. My husband wanted the St. Louis ribs, and Nelson pointed out the special, which was a full rack for the price of the baby back ($16.99!). That made hubby a very happy camper! I got the combo with brisket and pulled pork. Both were really good, and I also sampled the ribs, which were great with a nice bark and char to them, but they still came right off the bone. Excellently executed! For my sides I got a baked potato (small but good), and cinnamon apples (kinda mushy and lukewarm, but still good tasting!). That said, I am an addict of Dave's drunken apples, so everything else has a pretty high bar to hurdle when it comes to that. The best thing was during a conversation with the family about what else I wanted to do for my birthday and Nelson overheard it, insisting that he bring me out a piece of cake to celebrate. It was a HUGE piece of chocolate cake, and they had even written "Happy Birthday" on the sides of the plate in chocolate. They did NOT sing, which was fantastic! The cake was moist and decadent! The star of the meal was a birthday card that accompanied the cake signed by our server that included a coupon for another free meal. I don't know if this is standard for birthdays there or not, but it was excellent customer care and wonderful food to boot. Highly recommended!

Our hostess didn't seem to pleased that I asked for our group of 3 to be seated away from the bar. It was Sunday and the bar was packed with football fans. Oddly enough, there was a loud stereo speaker in the separate dining area.. Not a good start. Food was ok, my sandwich was very greasy but all and all not bad. Our waitress was kind and attentive. Silverware was dirty. Nothing special, probably won't revisit.

The only reason i'm giving 3 stars is because the management was very hospitable to our party of 8. It took tooooooooooo long to get our food. People with parties of two had come and gone.

We had a very animated waitress that livened things up for us. I had a cheeseburger that was pretty good. The drink specials were a plus as well.

Smokey Bones is one of my all time favorite places in this area. I mostly go for the ribs, but their burgers are the BEST. The burgers are better then any place in the area. The ribs are terrific. They are very lean. I know there are many who compare this place with Dixie Bones, they are very different. If you like more fatty type of ribs with a SC sauce, then go to Dixie Bones. If you like more of a NC type of rib, then Smokey Bones is the place to be. Their ribs are more lean (St. Louis style). You could also go for their baby back ribs, which are also awesome. Service is consistently good, as well as the management. I've been there many times, and twice had an issue. Once with overcooked and dry ribs. The manager came over, took them away and I had a new plate of ribs in about 10 minutes. Another time was just a confusing transaction. I had coupons and they were also running a special for buying a gift card. The manager (different one then before) came over and cleared it all up without issue. In other words the whole staff is top notch. The atmosphere is like begin in a log cabin restaurant out in Colorado, a big part of it's charm. It makes me feel like I'm on vacation. Make sure to provide them with your email (via the website), they send you great coupons periodically. They often have specials during the week between 4-6pm, like half price appetizers and discount drinks. It's rare that I can praise an establishment as much as I do this one. Great food, great service, reasonable prices, and wonderful atmosphere. I am a loyal regular and will continue to be so.

An hour and 1/2 for food that was so salty I could not eat it. And the baked potato tasted boiled.

Now I'm not really big on BBQ... but this place has a great pulled chicken BBQ sandwich... Our waiter was a great guy... and made sure we were taken care of... They also have great lunch specials which will not break your pockets...

This place is really nice. We came for New Years Eve last year and it was nice but I think we caught the chef on a 'it's new years eve, why cook everything when everyone is too drunk to eat it?' kind of mood, but we came about a week ago and it was all really nice. We were sat in the bar area, so it was really loud but our waiter was really nice and accommodating.

3.75 I went here with my mom on a weekday afternoon for her first time. I'm used to the Bowie location and have been there probably 5 times. This location looks the same and it was empty since it was 2:30. The blond bartender waited on us and we got the cornbread app with the pecan maple butter, I swear that stuff is amazing. The menu has changed a bit because I guess someone bought the company since the last time I've been there. We both had the original ribs and they were very good. Next time I want to order those fried mushrooms. I felt as usual like I was in a big log cabin.

Worst service and management. Our waitress last night at 8pm was awful and she was training someone, ugh.... He did not look promising and was not getting great help from her. One particular instance was her tone to the bus staff, not okay to be high and mighty to someone you think is below you. Our dinner took over an hour to come when the restaurant was not crowded. There had been an event, but it was completely over by the time our waitress put in our order. We would have walked out except we had driven far and were too tired. When the order did finally come the food was good, but definitely not hot. Again not worth sending back as we knew it would not come back in a timely fashion. Part of our order were side salads, my guess is those could have come out earlier. Only shining star was the hostess. She was great! Management needs to step up when wait staff is not up to par.

I love Smokey Bones in general... from the redesigned and rebranded interior to the atmosphere to the food and drinks, all great. I especially like the brown sugar ribs and smoked wings. But the SB in Woodbridge (DC's only SB) is especially good. Food always comes out as ordered and tasty the first time. Plus the servers/bartenders in Woodbridge are attentive and always willing to accommodate my occasionally unusual drink/food requests. I drive from Arlington once or twice a month and will continue doing so!!

Beer is cold and the Nachos were seasoned perfectly! Our waiter was helpful and cool! I aways enjoy a personable wait staff.

First, I've been a regular customer of this place for years. Today made me think hard about going back anytime soon. Arrived for lunch about 11:45. We were the only two people at the bar. The bartender got our drinks, took our food order, then left the bar and never returned. Our food was brought by the host or waiter. We got our tab from the manager, but only after having to flag him down. Where was our "bartender"? She was waiting on tables. The manager was acting as her food runner and seemed the least bit concerned about our complaints. He was almost annoyed that we said something. And, while I have your attention, the place smells like poo poo. A former employee said they have a cracked pipe under the foundation and it would be too much money to have fixed. It smells pretty bad sometimes, and today was no exception.

Looking at the rest of these reviews, maybe we just went on a bad night. We were seated in front of brooms and dustpans... Cole slaw was soupy and tasted spoiled. They were out of brisket. Server was terrible. Forgot several ordered sides. We won't be back.

I'm not connoisseur of the bbq, but I know how to enjoy a well executed smoked chicken or grilled brisket. I also know what to expect out of chain restaurants. Seems like most folks on here are fooled into believing you'll find the real deal Holyfield standing in the lobby of every Famous Daves, Smoky Bones, Red Hot & Blue. What really sets this place apart from what brings most people in the restaurant & what keeps them coming back is the service. I agree the decor is intriguing & the food is decent. For most places like this, not fckn up your food order is half the battle. the other half is feeling that you had a great dining experience. Items ordered: kids smoked chicken w/cinnamon, smokey bones burger, pulled pork sandwich w/slaw, and wings smokey bones bbq flavor/garlic buffalo sauce w/baked beans. Kudos to our server who was patient, attentive & very pleasant. On the real, I couldn't ask for more.

This was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant in a long time. My friend and I were in Reston va and couldn't decide where to eat. He said he wanted to try smokey bones and the closest one was this Woodbridge location. I figured it wasn't a bad drive so we went. When we first got there we weren't exactly greeted by the person at the front, she kind of just looked at us. I should have taken that as a hint that the service wasn't going to be great. We were seated in a booth towards the back and sat for about 10 minutes before a waiter finally came and asked if we were ready to order. We asked for drinks which he did bring out promptly. A few minutes later he asked for our order. I ordered the baby back ribs and chicken wings. About 15 minutes later the food arrived. The wings were very over cooked and tough. The ribs were also very over cooked. My ribs didn't seem to be baby back and had a weird after taste. I was very thirsty so I had finished my drink before my food had come out. The waiter didn't say a word when the food came out. Just set it down and left. That was the last we saw of him until we asked a different waiter if he had seen ours. He asked if we needed anything and I asked for a drink. Our waiter appeared with the drink set it down and left without a word. I could go,on but I will leave it there. All I expect it a full drink and maybe a checkup to see if everything is ok. Don't go here if that is what you want. Period.

I love Smokey Bones. The ribs are very flavorful and have plenty of meat on them. The staff always seems to be very nice and attentive. The restaurant is very clean. I have never been disappointed when we decide to go there.

Table for 6. Service was terrible tonight. Felt like we were waiting forever for our waiter or waitress to stop by and take our drink orders.

Words cannot describe how terribly disgusting this food was. This was hands-down the WORST so-called "BBQ" food I have ever attempted to digest in my life. I seriously think that the only reason why they are still in business is because Famous Daves is just across the street and is ALWAYS crowded, so people who don't want to wait will come here instead by default. They don't even have potato salad here... what the hell type of "BBQ" establishment doesn't have potato salad? My friend got "beef brisket" and he mentioned that it was very tough. It really looked like beef jerky with bbq sauce on it. I'm surprised he was actually able to get it down. I got the bbq pulled pork sandwich; the pork wasn't even pulled, it was more like a boneless non-seasoned pork chop on top of bread. It also did not automatically come with cole slaw which was weird because I've never had a bbq sandwich without cole slaw or onion "straws". I had to douse the sandwich in bbq sauce (which was also not bad, but tasted like they got it straight out of the grocery store), "onion straws", and cheddar cheese; I also had to have my friend order some cole slaw as one of his "sides" and add that to the sandwich. After all of those enhancements, it still lacked having much flavor. Since I couldn't get potato salad, I was forced to get loaded mashed potatoes (which was really some cold potatoes with cold, non-melted cheese and soggy bacon on top). The icing on the cake was the fact that as soon as we left (like, literally as I stepped out of the door), my stomach started hurting. My friend's stomach started hurting shortly after as well. Coming here is basically like getting a colonic. I think it's safe to say that I will never return.

Of all the barbecue places I've been to in my life, this was the worst one of them all. Dave's BBQ beats SB hands down. The service at SB was TERRIBLE. After being seated nobody came to take our drink order for about 15 minutes. We got our drinks then waited another 20 minutes for the very rude waitress to take our order. It was like we were an inconvenience to her and taking up her time and making her work. I ordered the ribs because you can't have a good BBQ house without good ribs. Well, we waited almost 1 hour to get our food. I had to flag 3-4 people down to ask where our food was. I was about to pay for my drinks and go to Dave's when the food came out...cold. So before the waitress could leave after delivering the food, I made her bring it back. 30 minutes later we had warm food. I have now been here for 2 hours and am just getting my food. Really? I got the feeling that the managers didn't care either. How was the food? It was the worst 2 hours I've ever wasted in my life. The food was terrible and dry that didn't taste good no matter how much extra sauce you would put on. I stopped after the 2nd rib and asked to speak to a manager. He said everything looked fine and asked what my problem was. He said he didn't notice me here for over 2 hours. He said they serve quality food and that there was nothing they could do. Wow. That was a first. So here I am NOT recommending Smokey Bones. Beware that going there you may have problems with the wait staff wanting to help you or the managers actually caring. This place should be closed. Go to Dave's BBQ across the street or go to Dixie Bone down on Rt. 1 if you want good service and food.

My husband and I really like Smokey Bones. While the newer restaurants in town have a 2-3 hour wait, Smokey Bones typically has less than 30 minutes, although they can get pretty packed on Saturday nights. I don't know why they aren't busier on a regular basis, maybe it's because it's near impossible to find the entrance to the parking lot? If you're an out-of-towner just go towards the hotel next to it. There are a few favorites on the menu and few that we don't care to try again. HITS: -I LOVE their salads, the steak salad is money - the fried mushrooms on it are my favorite part and I don't even like mushrooms. -We can not go without getting an order of the smoked wings - they are huge and so delicious. Honestly they are best wings I've ever had. They come tossed in a sweet sauce (we call it the sticky sauce) and we usually ask for it without. It's a good sauce but the wings themselves taste great without the sauce. Trust me. -The nachos are also good, but beware, they come in a pan the size of a trashcan lid so if you don't like to waist food you better share them. MISSES: -While I like their burgers (they have a whole menu page dedicated to building your own burger), my husband doesn't care for them; says they could be better. And quite honestly, he's right. You can get a burger that is just as good at Red Robin. While it's not the best burger I've ever, I haven't found anything better in Woodbridge. -The smothered cheese fries are a total disappointment. It's not hard to make good cheese fries - but I think they try so hard (covering them in everything from bbq sauce to tomatoes) it is total overkill. I like their cheap pint beer prices. They have a beer called Bones Brew which is a red beer, tastes like Killians. It is 2.50 for a pint which is nice, or even better you can get a pitcher of it for $7. They also do mixed drinks for 3.50 - you can get Jim Bean, Three Olives etc...pretty good drinks and prices considering the area. We've never had a problem with the service. Our waiters have always been nice and attentive. We've always gotten our food hot and fresh. So no complaints there. Also, grab a bag of donuts before you go. There is a reason they are mentioned in a lot of reviews.

Horrible experience here. Food was bad, service was slow, and management was non-existent/pointless. We waited a long time for our drinks which arrived with condensation on the glasses and watered down from sitting out for so long. Kettle Chips: Bland/horrible (took 20 min to arrive) Combo platter with pulled pork and beef brisket: so/so (45 min to arrive) Ribs Platter: so/so (45 min to arrive) Not good BBQ at all! The place was a waste of time, and the servers and mangers did absolutely nothing to make up for the poor experience had here. This is the type of place I should have walked out of. Went here once for my dad's birthday. He loves BBQ. We got a few appetizers, combo plates. They were very good, we had to get a second one. The chicken tenders were so good that I got then in my dinner combo as well. The family got different things, ribs, prok, chicken, it was all very good. The service was good as well. If there was one closer we'd go more often. Haven't gone back because there are some other BBQ places we like a little better, but this place is certainly not bad at all!
