This place is definitely a favorite of locals, but won't scare away anyone who doesn't frequent Northside. Parking is usually pretty easy in this little strip of shops and restaurants but this place fills up quickly so make sure to get there early if you don't want to wait for awhile. There is a nice bar area if you do end up having to wait. We snagged a table for two that was jammed into a corner area - I say jammed because I ended up hitting my head on an overhang on the wall about 10 times during our meal. We were also in a corner of the restaurant with a large table of folks, one of which was talking so loud I actually had to plug one of my ears to stop from getting a headache. Our waiter took about 15 minutes to come and get our drink orders but he seemed like he was hustling. Anywaaaaaaays, all of this explains why this place gets 4 and not 5 stars. The food here is a 5 - all the way. I got a flank steak that was super reasonably priced - as most of the items on the menu looked. I don't know if there were any dishes over 20 bucks. It was cooked perfectly and had a great seasoning on it. My sides were really fresh and yummy too. I actually cleaned my plate, which my husband will tell you is a rare occurrence - my eyes are usually bigger than my stomach. We didn't have room for dessert but we will definitely be back!

Great first visit here with our daughter, who's long been a fan, especially of their brunch. We were there for dinner and appreciated the extensive menu and great service. The food was delicious: pasta with garlic, basil and shrimp; pasta with parmesan-encrusted chicken, marinara and mozzarella; and a white pizza. We added a $27 bottle of wine, and the total tab for three came to $93 including tip.

Awesome brunch! I'm not a big breakfast foods fan so I got a grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad and the bread was perfectly toasted with a big juicy piece of grilled chicken. Everyone else got real fast food that looked delicious so I will definitely be trying some next visit. The service was lovely. If you enjoy little hole in the wall local restaurants this is your new spot!

I've now eaten here for brunch, lunch and dinner... loved every one! the lunch was possibly my least favorite, but the brunch special I got (included yellow grits and fried green tomatoes) was awesome. Dinner is great, but it seems to be kinda dependent upon what exactly you order. All in all, it's been consistently above average for me.

Man, I hate their chicken wings so much. I don't know why I keep going back there again and again and again and ordering those damn wings with the sweety and spicy sauce and super crispy skin. If I were you, I would stay away. I would especially stay away on Wing Night.

I LOVE this place. So many delicious options that satisfy both my health conscious husband, and junk food conscious me:) I've had several absolutely delicious meals here and love to stop in when I'm in Richmond. One of my favorite things had to have been the nutella gelato! OMG. I died.

Blackened chicken wrap was good but the portion size was small. Homemade chips were awesome but don't give you enough. The bottle of water on the table was charming.

Great little spot. I finally got around to visiting even though I live only a mile away. I was reluctant to visit because their vegan options in the beginning sucked (sorry but only having a veggie sandwich or a hummus wrap as your only vegan options ain't gonna cut it). I ended up getting the BBQ tofu appetizer and the tofu walnut burger and both were AMAZING. There's even a vegan red pepper aioli that comes on the burger. My sister got the black bean and corn cake sliders and I snagged a little piece and that was delicious as well. The place was super busy but our server handled it like a champ. Very personable and fast. I only have one complaint which is why I took off one star. The place is small and most noises echo which would have been alright except for the EXTREMELY LOUD table upfront. I work in a restaurant so I'm not usually bothered by little things so trust me when I say these people were way beyond an acceptable volume. It wasn't just us, all the other tables around kept staring at them. I understand that people want to have fun, but what management needs to understand is that one table's fun can't be at the expense of all the other patrons in the restaurant. Like I said before, I work in a restaurant and sometimes this situation comes up and if handled correctly, causes no problems for anyone involved. With how small the place is, this is something management is going to need to keep a handle on. All in all, this is a great place but I hope that next time I don't have to handle a situation with another guest that management should take care of.

Really good food. The buttermilk pancakes were excellent. The value was exceptional. Everyone left full. Some food for leftovers and only $30 for 2 people including bloody marys. Could get pretty crowded as the place isn't very large, but the bar is always a good option.

Have visited The Mill multiple times for lunch and dinner and haven't been disappointed by the food once. They have plenty of veg. options but also have one of the best cheese steaks in the city! Unlike some places, there is no need for mayo- the cheese just permeates the steak for ooey gooey delicousness. My husband swears by the Oyster Po' Boy and we also liked the Sweet Slider burgers. I am not a huge fan of regular potato chips but their homemade chips are quite tasty. The service is friendly but can be quite slow and the seating is limited so don't go if you're in a rush. Prices vary but most are quite reasonable.

I've now been to The Mill on MacArthur twice, and both times it was a positive experience. PROs: This restaurant is one of the most vegetarian- and vegan-friendly places in Richmond, and the offerings are so good that even die-hard carnivores might opt for a vegan meal. "Natalie's Meatless Mountain" is a horrible name for a dish, but it's really delicious -- lentils, rice, seitan, carrots, and green onions in a light, flavorful sauce. A big bonus for veg folks is "Meatless Mondays," when everything vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free on the menu is $1 off. Another pro is the fried artichoke hearts appetizer, which I have decided is what I would request for my last meal. It's one of the most addictive things I've ever tasted. The BBQ fried tofu is also really good. I appreciate that they always have Bev's Homemade ice cream on the menu; I think it's cool that they're supportive of another local business. They have a nice selection of drinks if you're in the mood for a cocktail or alcoholic beverage. I recommend the Ace Pear Cider. Finally, the servers are really nice and helpful. They're great about working with you if you need to make substitutions because of allergies. One of my friends got the meatloaf, which came with Brussels sprouts, and when she didn't like them, our waiter VERY kindly took them back and brought something different. CONs: As others have said, this place is a local favorite, and it's located next door to another local favorite (Taste Buds bistro). That means parking is a nightmare. On a Friday at 6:30 -- granted, probably the worst possible time to go to a restaurant -- I had to park way over on Fauquier and walk, alone, at night, to The Mill. Also, we had to wait a pretty long time (maybe 20 minutes?) for a table, which is understandable at that hour... but our wait had to happen smack-dab in the middle of the restaurant floor, standing (no chairs) right outside the bathroom doors. So go at an off-peak time, especially if it's winter! Finally, I got the pulled-pork sub with grilled onions, and it was just okay (a lot of bread, a lot of onions, not a lot of meat), and the fries were soggy. Fortunately, my friends' meals (roasted-veggie sandwich with sweet potato fries and veganized Philly cheesesteak with chips) were great, and the aforementioned fried artichoke hearts were so rad that I could forgive the less-than-stellar entree. TL;DR: This place is SO worth checking out. If you're vegetarian or vegan, it just might be your new favorite place in RVA.

Went for brunch, and was very pleased. The only really problem is it's a small place so the wait was a little crazy. However, the food was well worth it!! I chose to get the Northside Benedict. YUM! The red pepper hollandaise was fantastic. I will definitely be going back to take advantage of the bottomless mimosas.

Visiting Richmond for a conference. Looked at Yelp and took a chance. Really glad I did. My dining parter had scallops and crab cakes and I had the pizza with vegan cheese. There is something for everyone. Really nice and attentive service. This place is busy! Be prepared to wait if they get jammed but it is all worth the wait. If The Mill was in my neighborhood at home, I think I'd go every day. Seriously.

Wonderful brunch. Had the shrimp and grits and the crab and ham quiche. Both were excellent, and the biscuits are the best of my life. Prices are reasonable, and the restaurant looked very clean.

Great service, really great food, and crayons! What more could you ask for? Particular standouts were the Golden Mushroom soup, the Hummus Plate, the key Lime Pie, and the Roasted Vegetable Sandwich. great prices, and certainly not your typical diner food!

Update on my rating. I tried brunch again. I was pleased with my order choice. I ordered the country fried chicken & biscuits. This consists of two hand battered chicken breast atop a buttermilk biscuit smothered with white country gravy. It is served with a potato pancake & your choice of bacon, sausage or veggie sausage. I opted for the sausage. I could do without the potato pancake, it was too soft and felt like mush in my mouth. The sausage was very good and I really enjoyed the chicken. The batter was sweet and crispy. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the conversation with the bartender. This was a pleasant turn around from the previous server's attitude.

The Mill is one of my new favorite places in Richmond. They have a great beer and wine selection and a reasonable happy hour. Since I ate here on meatless Monday I ordered the humus wrap with Greek orzo salad. The wrap was delicious and compares to similar items at Stir Crazy down the street. The only reason I am giving it four stars instead of five is that service was a little slow.

I have been to The Mill 4 times; today was the worst experience, but I will certainly go back as it isn't their fault it was busy and their patrons were rude. The food is good and the wine list is nice. The pancakes are absolutely outstanding. They also have a number of good beers available. Kid friendly, but it sure isn't a chain, which is good. My problem today was with the service. It was busy, YES - but all tables should be treated equally. Just bc I am not the table of blue hairs demanding a coffee refill every other second or the table of vegan hipsters asking for 6548 substitutions doesn't mean I don't need to see my server's face every once in a while. I asked for more napkins and they came 15 minutes later. We were 3 people at a tiny 2 top and I had to bring our empty appetizer dishes to a shelf/ledge area near the bathroom bc no one could be bothered to remove them from our table - even when they brought the new food. I finished my wine and would have loved a second glass, but no one ever asked me and no one ever came back once the food was dropped. I mean, if you need more servers than 2 on a busy brunch shift, then get more servers. How you split your tips isn't your customers' problem.

BRUNCH Everything was fantastic. Most times a restaurant is very good at a couple things, but absolutely everything we got was fantastic. I had the pork special. The potatoes were cooked perfect, the outside was cooked just enough to be crunchy but the middle was not overcooked which was great. The homemade biscuit was great, and I don't really like biscuits. I also had the plum cake dessert, which you could tell was fresh and homemade. My girlfriend got the omelette special with portabella mushrooms and their pickle flavored bloody mary. I am picky about my drinks, but this was made just right, not too spicy but with lots of flavor. I honestly cannot say enough about how great the entire meal was. The owner even came over and I saw he was even serving food to the people at the bar. Our waitress was also super nice and very personable. This was our first time here, but will definitely be back!!! Michael

Service was friendly but the vegan artichoke po boy and the oven baked fries and the saki bloody mary were not good.

Great little place with a ton of potential. The habanero chicken wings and pizza were to die for...definitely a reason to visit if you haven't been before. Their ideas for getting more traffic during the week (go Genny tallboys!) are creative, and customer service has always been great. My only complaint....why close at 10?! This great new place could be the next new NS hub if the hours could complete with K64 and Dots.

3 diners, all with separate "issues" (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free), had a great lunch here-- vegan pizza was apparently really good, the bbq crispy tofu was great, and the heartland grilled cheese (on gluten free bread) was also apparently delicious! really good homemade potato chips. all the way around, we enjoyed it! will definitely return.

When I heard that the same people who owned Mojo's (best philly cheese steak in Richmond if you ask me) also own the Mill, I knew I had to give it a try. I was not disappointed by that gem which is definitely a replica of it's Fan counterpart. It's in no way good for you, but it sure if delicious. I've ordered the Bellevue BLT multiple times, and across those total experiences, it's pretty good. Sometimes the focaccia is a little overdone. But lots of bacon and gouda means it has the meaty/smoky and cheesy chutzspa that I'm always drawn to in any dish. Don't get the pasta primavera- it's the only "entree" I've ordered there and was mediocre at best. Other sandwiches (club, kickin' chicken, grilled cheese) are tasty and they have decent house wine that won't break the bank. Overall, they've been getting into their grove after opening earlier in 2011. Locally sourced food and a great neighborhood spot. And it never hurts when the wait staff is so friendly!

The Mill is an excellent neighborhood restaurant. The food is solidly good, from the ahi tuna salads (excellent house made dressing), to brunch, to burgers and sandwiches (the roast veg is a favorite, but ask for extra balsamic!). Warm and welcoming - the best of Bellevue neighborhood bistro dining by far.

The Mill is a great local spot. I had a few disappointing visits when they first opened (no wine, bad meals) but recently I feel like they have gotten their act together. An easy convenient place on Northside to stop in for good meal. I have found one thing that i stick to now, their grilled cheese with carmelized onions and tomatoes rocks! and I recently went for breakfast and had a Hoppel(?) which was everything but the kitchen sink kind of meal and was perfect for a Sunday morning. Still no liquor license (their bloody mary's are made with Saki). It may never be the best meal I've had, but supporting this local spot leaves a warm feeling in my belly...

One of the finest hole in the wall I've ever eaten at. I'm always trying to find reasons to meet people at The Mill. I love that no one ever expects it to be as good as it is. Weekend brunch is crazy good and they have fantastic dinner specials.

This place is not too pricey, and has lots of original vegetarian options. The vegetarian stuff is not just vegetables. They have tofu and seitan options, as well as vegan cheese. Their meat stuff is good too, and so are their desserts. We like it!

  • Ronnie P.

Very tasty sauce on the tofu lasagna. The side salad had quality ingredients, and wasn't a mere accompaniment. The broccoletti was perfectly cooked, naturally lots of garlic (and perhaps a few red pepper flakes?). The orzu salad was a hit. The roasted vegetable sandwich was good, but would have profited from a little bit of a flavor kick. The house bread was hot, fresh, and extremely yummy.

ok, so i'm biased. but that said, the honey habanero wings are AWESOME!! i love the spicy/sweet combo. i had a steak, don't really remember what cut, but it do remember that it was delicious. service was great. i sat at the bar, because it was so busy, and Amy was knowledgeable and funny as always! love her! but i love the whole staff too. definitely check this place out. worth the 10 minute drive into the great unknown that is, (dunh dunh dunh!) Northside! only downside for me (as a drinker), NO LIQUOR. beer and wine only. but Amy was nice enough to make me a drink that tasted almost like a vodka tonic. a bit sweet. port maybe? not sure.

Let me tell you the reasons the Mill rocks: 1) BBQ tofu bites B) artichoke po' boy 3) beautiful glass vases of water on each table D) local, RVA inspired art on the walls 4) right smack in the middle of MacArthur Let me tell you the reasons the Mill doesn't rock: That's right, there are zero reasons for the second category. This place is delicious, uses locally sourced ingredients, makes a killer product out of everything they have and serves it with just the right amount of friendly. If you love good food and a really cool atmosphere, you'll love the Mill. Thank me later.

The Mill on MacArthur is nothing short of a neighborhood gem. It managed to escape my notice for several years, though I'm very glad to finally be in the know! As a neighborhood place, the restaurant is a pretty small one, with inside seating for perhaps 25-30 people and another 10-15 outside. My party of four had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, though the hostess was very pleasant about it and worked to have our table cleared off quickly. During our wait, I had time to notice the great daily deals they offer, and it turns out we came on Burger Night (Sunday) where the Mill Burger was only $7 and other specialty burgers were available as well. Good timing! Our server was polite and attentive despite being one of only two servers working the restaurant. My dad and I opted for a $7 pitcher of Lion's Head beer (also a Sunday special), and make no mistake: these pitchers are huge! It being burger night, it didn't take me long to settle on their classic Mill Burger (locally raised and single-source), and we had a Bavarian pretzel appetizer to share. The pretzels were delicious, and the mac and cheese sauce that we selected to come with it was a perfect pairing (though you only get three pretzel sticks when you order it, so perhaps getting an appetizer is best for their 1/2 off app nights!). Our entrees were similarly super, and I was blown away by the flavor of the beef. The fries were good though unremarkable; maybe go for one of their many other sides instead, like the Mac and cheese? We finished things off with the Nutella Pie, and while it didn't taste a whole lot like Nutella, it was still as sweet and filling as I had hoped it would be. Despite being a party of four and ordering beer, an appetizer, four entrees, and a dessert, our total did not exceed $15 a person, a pleasant surprise not often accompanying the receipt of bills. With everything to recommend it and little to detract from it, I would already go so far as to say this is one of my new favorites for the Richmond region. Give it a try and you'll be sure to feel the same! Overall: 5.0 stars ------- Pros: - Great (and quick) service despite there not being more than two servers at any one time. - Food is memorable and delicious. - Wide selection of local craft brews makes this a great spot to grab a beer (or several). - Pricing is reasonable, and made even more so by their daily deals. - Locally-sourced food definitely stands out among the hoard of restaurants serving formerly-frozen beef. - Street parking is easy to find (and free). Cons: - Small restaurant size means fewer tables, and thus longer waits if you time it wrong. - Fries are good though unremarkable. Go for the sweet potato waffle fries or M&C!

I have but one word to say right now... Wow. This place his a hidden gem in Richmond. The service was excellent and personable. The menu was well laid out and somewhat affordable. You can find more affordable things on the menu because it was that versatile. I ordered the Country Fried Chicken Biscuit and it was amazing. This place, hands down, has the best biscuit I have ever had in my entire life, and I'm Southern born and raised. Literally the best most heavenly biscuit. Also, they have a little bar and the atmosphere is very great for children. The bathrooms are gender affirming and there are children's stool in the bathroom for kids to wash their hands. Cute place and amazing food.

Had a very pleasant brunch at The Mill! I hadn't been in this area in a while (last time was when I went to Dot's Back Inn), but the weather was gorgeous. The interior is decorated with a few cool maps and has a large blackboard on one wall with the specials written on it. The large windows let in a lot of natural light, and I happened to sit at one of the tables right by the windows/entrance. Our waitress was friendly, and my food was delicious. I ordered the fried chicken and biscuits. I was expecting the typical fried chicken breast (with bones/wings), but it was actually a chicken breast filet, and the batter was lighter since the skin was removed. The biscuit was extra crunchy and everything was smothered in white gravy. The accompanying veggie sausage patty and home fries were excellent, and I really appreciated the little bit of fresh fruit as well. All in all, a great meal for an excellent price with decent portions in a lovely restaurant! =)

This place is a must for Richmond. It has the hipster and family feel all at once. We had a different waitress brunette and she was as lovely as our last one. She even made some wonderful suggestions which eased myself from having to ask if the peach cobbler came with vanilla ice cream. The chicken biscuit is great an the gravy better along with their biscuits. One of my biggest pet peeves with a restaurant is having to ask for crispy bacon and it come out moderately to what I ask for and I must say here at the Mill they have never let me down... It's hard to get a five star out of me and they get it with me easily...

My dad and I came here for lunch on a Friday. It was pretty busy considering that all the tables were full, but all the waitresses seem to calm and collected without an air of panic. I was promptly seated and offered water while I waited and perused the menu. I opted for the four cheese ravioli with the lemon and sage sauce. It came with their house salad and bread. The salad and bread were both very fresh and delightful. A hearty portion indeed. My dad ordered the special, the blackened chicken Caesar wrap with their veggie chili--perfect portion for light fare but filling After a short wait, our food came out. The presentation was great and the portions were sizable. The flavor of the ravioli was spot on and clearly homemade. The ricotta filling was velvety and rich and perfectly seasoned. The lemon sage sauce was buttery and creamy and its flavor of as impeccable. The whole reason for my three star rating, is the food temperature. The ravioli were cold. By cold, I mean the temperature a dish would have if it were previously cooked and then stored in the fridge for an hour or so without rewarming. I was so disappointed, but way too hungry to send it back or complain. So I ate it. But wished the whole time for warmth. I suppose my Dad's food was good. But he did doctor the chili quite a bit after the first taste before finishing the rest. I would definitely return and certainly revise my review if things are better next time. This place is a gem, I can tell...I just got a bad plate :0(

We came here again the other day and were pretty disappointed after our great first experience. I ordered the chicken biscuit sandwich (which I'd really been looking forward to!). The breading on my chicken slid off with no problem when I tried to cut it and was soggy. Isn't the point of fried chicken to be nice and crispy? The gravy also had way too much pepper in it. I picked at and managed to eat about half. My boyfriend got a burger and fries. He said the burger was alright, but he wished he'd gotten the pasta again instead. The fries were DISGUSTING. Soaked in grease and under cooked, they sat there glimmering in all their oily nastiness. Bring the lovely person I am, I shared my chips with him. I would definitely try the Mill one more time, but if the food is as sub par as this visit I think we'll find other places to go in the future.

Rich S. says it best cozy and cute spot serving great food! (I partially plagiarized on your review)...It was staring me in the face to the right. :) Anywho... this place has some delicious burgers and if you know me...you know I love a good burger. The bf had veggie sausage biscuits and he enjoyed that too. Definitely was full coming out of there. Oh and then I looked to the right on the wall and what did I see? A nutella pie looking at me! So of course no matter how stuffed I felt, that nutella pie was going to force me to unfasten my belt (well if I was wearing one). But I wasn't so that was just for rhyming purposes. Okay, back to the food...everything was delish, the staff was very friendly and helpful with ordering suggestions. Will definitely make my way back to the Mill some day!

We had friends in from out of town and wanted to take them to a local place. This is my fifth visit to The Mill and it was fantastic as usual. We started with the pretzel appetizer and they were delicious. Skip the honey mustard and dive straight into the cheese dip!! You get three sticks served hot with the two dips. Very good. For our entrees we got the Ultimate grilled cheese, the shrimp and garlic pizza and the our friends got the Southern Surf and Turf. The shrimp pizza was to die for. So very good. Very tasty and definitely enough for two to share. The Ultimate grilled cheese is a consistent hit. The short rib just melts in your mouth. The Surf and Turf was split also / the short rib meat was yummy and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The grits it came with were course ground which was the only "meh" item we got. The beer and wine selection was appreciated by all. I got the double chocolate cake to go and it was out of this world for breakfast. I wish it was on the menu all the time. Service was wonderful. I just wish the restaurant was bigger! Not many seats so it was a wait at 6:45 pm on a Friday. Since everyone landed on the restaurant at once, we waited a bit for our food. But understandable and handed flawlessly by our server. Love this place! Will be back again. Sorry I forgot to take pictures!

I think this place is awesome! I have been dying to try this place. But I have not been able to convince DH to get in the car and drive "all the way to Northside" to try it. So when he was out of town on a golf weekend, I called up BFF to join me there. BFF lives nearby and had never been, so she was game. We decided to go a bit early since I heard it can fill up quickly. So we had no problem getting a seat once we could find a place to park. We decided HAD to try to the Crispy BBQ Tofu (neither of us really eat much tofu). We also got the black bean cakes. We were even more excited to find out that we were there during appetizer happy hour (half price!), so there was no guilt about loading up. The tofu was as promised, crispy, and tasty. I would definitely order it again. The black bean cakes were nice too, especially with a cool dollop of lime-cilantro sour cream on top! For the main event, we kept vacillating between a couple of things. But I finally settled for the Meatloaf Mountain. BFF got the Shrimp and Grits. My dish lived up to its name, alright. First layer is the slice of meatloaf, then the toast, then a potato pancake, then a grilled tomato, and then topped off a mound of caramelized onions and doused with gravy. Just for fun, it is decorated with a tiny paper American flag. I was not sure how I was going to eat everything just put in front of me! I gave it my best shot but was only able to get about 1/2 way through. Not because of taste, but because I was now too full for even a wafer thin mint. BFF was served up a very generous portion of creamy grits topped with shrimp, bacon, garlic, mushrooms and green onion. It looked delicious. She reported it to be delicious as well. She too was able to only get 1/2 way through her meal as well. With our leftovers, our lovely waitress gladly boxed up the other half for each of us. BFF and I now each had lunch for tomorrow! When DH got home from his golf weekend, I told him what a wonderful meal I enjoyed at the Mill and that he missed out. He thinks he might like for us to go sometime.

My first brunch of the year was at The Mill on MacArthur. It was cheap, filling, rich... basically everything I want after sleeping in on a lazy Sunday. I ordered the country fried chicken smothered in southern gravy all on top of a biscuit. I opted for bacon on the side and oh man, they did not skimp out on me. Parking was a bit difficult, the wait was a bit long but when I had that first bite, I was back to being a happy camper. There was also a housemade hot sauce that I thought was quite unique. It was acidic, sweet but spicy too. I mixed it with my favorite "hot sauce" staple, sriracha. Overall, I left happy and full.

Cozy and cute spot in the middle of Bellevue serving excellent food! So why only 3 stars? The service left me with a pretty bad first impression. I had actually chosen this place because their sammies sounded really good and I was in the mood for one. I saw on their website that lunch was served daily, so assumed they would have both their brunch and lunch menu available at noon on Saturday- this would give my mom and sis a chance to get breakfast food if they were so inclined. Unfortunately they only gave us a brunch menu- if our server had been more attentive I may have asked if they had a lunch menu available. The food I got ended up being really good, so the menu issue wasn't a loss. There was a short wait, which we enjoyed catching up on a pleasant day outside while waiting to be seated. Coming inside a really felt a nice community vibe and could see this being a frequented spot of mine if I lived in the area. Ten minutes after being seated our server comes and asks us what we'd like to drink with a half smile (kudos for at least trying). By that time we had already chosen what we wanted to eat, but she looked really distraught when we let her know we wanted to place our food order. It seemed she was really distraught and overworked. Anyways, we were never checked on and had to flag her down for refills on coffee. She certainly wasn't mean, I guess they just needed more staff. The food- as I mentioned- was on point. My huevos rancheros were delicious and there was lots of food. Great combo of textures and flavors with the base crispy tortilla, a layer of black pepper paste, eggs, salsa, home fries, fruit and two sausage patties, Yum yum yum! My mom and sister both enjoyed their meals too. Any time my sister commends me on my choice of restaurants I feel accomplished. So I'm hoping next time I go the service be a closer match to the food. I still need to try one of their sammies, so I will be back when I get the opportunity.

I love The Mill. It is definitely a go to spot for us. Great for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Love the rotating draft list and the eclectic menu. The menu is very diverse and everything I have ever tried is delicious and worth getting again. The pizzas are great and I love the shrimp and grits. The staff is chill and friendly and I have never had a bad experience at The Mill.

We have been 5 times on various nights and for lunch and they never disappoint! Kids love it too! Mussels appetizer is a must! Black Bean and Corn Cakes and the Veggie Burger are my favorites with the kale slaw! You will not be disappointed!

My husband and I sat at the bar in order to get a seat quickly. The service was fast. The bar tender was attentive . The food was delicious. It was worth the 26 minute drive.

This place is terrific.... Staff is is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They have a nice little selection of beers and wines. And the menu is quite diverse. I have tried most things on the menu and it never disappoints. Every time I come in now though, I order the kale salad with the catch of the day thrown on it. I feel guilty about ordering the same thing every time now, but hey.....I know what I like. The owners are really great and they are big on good service. They are also child friendly. Be careful when you choose to go however, as parking on MacArthur is a bit of a crap shoot. This is such a sweet little area. I just moved out of town, but every time I come back I hit The Mill and Stir Crazy next door. Oh, and their Sunday brunch is also fantastic. And their mimosas are not too weak, like some places. :)

Hard to believe that I haven't written a review of The Mill since I've been here dozens of times and always love it. You can tell how great of a restaurant this is not only by the local support but by also by how much it draws in customers from outside the area, especially for brunch. Usually a wait, but never for too terribly long. Worth the wait! Fresh, good food. Great prices. Love the craft beer selection. The staff and atmosphere is always family friendly, so we go here often with our the year old. Oh, and a great happy hour specials! (Drinks AND food)

I love this place. Staff is super friendly, I always feel like I'm at a family member's house. My family and I have been twice and enjoyed it both times. The first time I had a burger and it was cooked perfectly medium, which is rare. The beef was tasty. My daughter had spaghetti and loved it. We also had mussels, and I had to ask for more bread so I could soak up all the delicious broth. My other half got the oyster po boy and it said it was pretty good. The second time the boy and I drank a couple of beers and got the mussels again, but they seemed a bit smaller. I also got the fried artichoke hearts and LOVED them. So tasty. We also noticed we were close to closing time so we ordered dinner to go. I couldn't resist the meat loaf mountain which is bacon infused meatloaf made with single-source grass fed VA Black Angus ground beef piled high on wheat toast with a potato pancake, mushroom gravy, thick sliced grilled tomato & caramelized onions. served with vegetable of the day. It sounds ridiculous... and it is. Enough for the two of us to share, and DELICIOUS. Overall, this is one of my go to's when I want something simple, tasty and want to go somewhere comfy.

If you are not vegetarian you may never understand the excitement felt when you can walk into a restaurant and order something exactly like it's made on the menu. We went for Sunday brunch around 11am and it was busy but we didn't have to wait. Cute diner with so much on the menu to choose from. First thing I noticed? They have veggie sausage!! None of the meat eaters in my group cared but I was thrilled!! Do you know how hard it is to be a biscuits and gravy girl in a sausage gravy world?! Service was great, diner was cozy and the food was amazing! This is definitely a place to try. I know I will definitely be back!!

Service and food was excellent. Our first visit, so didnt know what to expect. Prices are great, especially given the quality and ambience of the place. We got veggie chili in place of chips. It was a little too salty for me, but we ate it all.

oh my sweet baby jesus, why did it take so long to try this gem. in one word this place is amazing! the menu is HUGE, filled with delicious offerings that make it so hard to choose something and just pick one item! the salads are fresh, fried bbq tofu was unlike anything I've had, fries delicious, and apparently the best Philly cheesesteak my boyfriend has ever had. (and he's had a lot). it's safe to say this is my new favorite restaurant in richmond. it's too bad I don't live in Bellevue and i have to drive all the way from downtown to get to this treasure chest of delicious food.

Locally sourced resturant that is tucked away in this tiny little shopping stip on MacArthur. We split a black bean and corn cake with a cilantro lime cream sauce that was very yummy. I had homemade sausage gravy and biscuits where were decent. My friend's pork belly waffle though look amazing. I didn't get a bite because it was gone pretty quick. They had some other brunch specials that looked really good, but the one I really wanted (crab and brie omlet) they sold out of. Will have to try this place for dinner as well, but their brunch is great!

What a gem. Stumbled upon the Mill for lunch and it was great. I had a lunch special, cornbread quiche, and it was amazing. My waitress/bartender, Amy, was very pleasant and even found me a dinner recommendation for the evening. Great spot, give it a go.

OH MY GOD! Let me start off by saying I came here for dinner Saturday night with my family, I loved it so much that I came back Sunday morning for brunch with a friend. Everything that we ordered was amazing. My family and I were taking bites from each of our plates trying to decide what we loved more. I had the Japanese Style Pork special; I think that sauce they served that with was made of angel tears. My mother had the lasagna with chorizo, my sister the lemon chicken which was absolutely amazing, and my mother's boyfriend referred to his chicken parm as the best he has ever had. Oh, and we ordered the BBQ tofu appetizer... we are all meat eaters who enjoy tofu, and that was really tasty too. On to brunch... save yourself the trouble of trying to decide... get the pork belly waffle. You will not be sorry; I could actually eat that everyday of my life. The menu is so amazingly diverse - the vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options are endless. Dots Back Inn... PREPAIR TO BE RIVALED, because The Mill on MacArthur is going to be a force to be reckoned with!

I regularly eat at the Mill, usually for lunch and have never been disappointed in the service or the food. The service is always good and the servers courteous and pleasant. The food, well what can you say it is great, prepared and served without any need for embellishment, the taste and quality speak for themselves. Have I said I love to eat here? Well I do and will continue to do so as Long as Amy and Josh run the place and keep on creating the excellent food they serve. Brunch is excellent also, have taken a number of friends here for brunch and they are all pleasantly surprised at both the quality of food as well as the quantity, served hot and fresh and fast. Love this place!!!!

I took the kids for an early Sunday Brunch. Everything was fantastic from start to finish. The kids ordered the Belgian waffle, which came with fresh berries and whipped cream. I had Old Faithful (eggs, home fries, fruit, bacon) and substituted a pancake for the toast or biscuit. We had a little bit of a wait for the food, but it came out perfectly prepared. The kids had a hot chocolate while we waited, which was also excellent, with dessert quality whipped cream. I've been to The Mill several times and have not been disappointed. We will definitely be back.

First time eating here and it was great. The fried chicken appetizer with gravy was perfect, the salad with spinach, cranberries and candied walnuts was tasty and the pasta and meatball special for Tuesday filled four people with great food at a reasonable price. Great atmosphere for a neighborhood place with a varied menu that makes me anxious to go back! Second visit and service was great. Tried the club sandwich with real turkey and country ham which was very good along with some of the best hand cut fries I have eaten. The potato soup was a bit thick as in almost mashed potatoes as those type of soups go but the flavor was excellent. The salad was again very good. We tried bread pudding for dessert and it was an experiment from the kitchen which needs work. To their credit they didn't charge us for it since it was dry and needs a sauce or glaze to add moisture and flavor enhancement. Still a good place with a lot of competition on MacArthur Ave.

There's honestly nothing bad for me to say about The Mill. I've been to The Mill around 10 times at least since recently moving to Richmond. I've tried something new every time I've gone there and have NEVER been disappointed. Always fresh and absolutely delicious. On top of that, the waitress's are extremely kind and helpful. THE MILL is a staple eatery in Richmond.

I found on yelp this place and I cannot be more happy to have found this hidden treasure. I tried the fried chicken with a side of eggs and without the eggs and it is just as good. I can't get enough of the fried chicken I eat and eat and kept looking for more. Probably one of my favorite brunch meals in my list. The down side is that you either come here early or you will have a bit of hard time trying to find a parking spot and a table but it is well worth it.

This is as good as it gets for a neighborhood restaurant! After spending the day at the Williamsburg outlets, the boyfriend, one of our mutual friends, and I stopped at The Mill for dinner. Between the three of us, we tried the crab dip, pizza, and burger. Everything was delicious and our server was so easy going and perfect. The crab dip was a very pleasant surprise! It was so creamy and chalk full of crab. They served it with pita bread for dipping, and our server was more than willing to keep bringing us more bread when we would run out. I can't say enough great things about The Mill. Being that the boyfriend lives close to the restaurant, I think more trips here are definitely in our future!

We went there the other night and the service was EXCELLENT! The food however could be better. I ordered the "create your own pasta" dish and the portion was huge. You pick your type of pasta -- angel hair -- and then sauce -- basil lemon -- and then meat -- shrimp. The pasta was nothing but spaghetti, the sauce fell flat, and the shrimp lacked seasoning. The salad was OK for this time of year in Richmond, not exactly fresh. And the Ranch dressing that they claimed was home-made tasted store bought. Not sure how they do it, but if it's homemade, they fooled me. This was the first time I'd been to a non-chain restaurant since New Year's Eve, so wanting to make the most of it, I ordred dessert: berry cobbler al la mode. The best part of this course of the meal was the ice cream. The crust was nothing to look forward to -- probably Sysco Food crust. The pie was NOT homemade. What's it take to find fine dining in Richmond that is reasonable. I won't be back but I have to say ambience is excellent. Community, local feel that's very welcoming. The bread and butter was really nice and I loved the bottles of water that they bring to the table. Nice touches!

I really like that this place is one of the RVA establishments that pride itself on serving locally sourced food. So it was great when I could order any of the meat dishes I wanted, but I have been here three times and I have finally determined what they do best. ITS THE CHICKEN- HOT DAYUM IS IT GOOD. I went for brunch and I got to try the chicken and biscuits. They were so good, that I just sorta watched my dining companion eat it all, bite by bite, just staring at each mouthful disappearing into his mouth, and wishing it was my mouth it was disappearing into. I had the strawberry crepes (which were super delicious too), but the chicken....ooooooo the chicken. Multipass....I digress. So it was pretty much the same story the next two times I ate here. The cheese burger is ok (Lucy's burger is the best in the city, nay, the world). The quiche was meh, the steak taco special was also just ok. The country fried chicken app was dance on the table with your pants off good. Weird, I know, cuz who orders chicken at a restaurant anymore right?! Do it. At The Mill. YUM. Chick-un.....

Pizza is the best I've had so far since I've moved down here (and we are pizza snobs). Our order is perfect, they forgot nothing and everything is made to specifications we asked for. And the delivery was faster than they told us! We will definitely order from them again.

I live and work in the area and regularly eat at The Mill. I've worked my way around the menu and have loved everything I've tried. AMAZING Gluten Free choices (best GF biscuit!) and vegan/vegetarian options. Occasionally, I will have to heat my food when I get delivery, but that's really not a deal-breaker for me (and it doesn't happen often). Great place for brunch, casual dinner, delivery - really anything. LOVE The Mill.

Tucked away in Richmond's Northside, you can find a tiny shopping area with a few restaurants and shops. If you are driving through, you need to keep an eye out for this small yet comfortable restaurant. It is an ideal location for casual dining, small groups and/or dates. I even noticed a section dedicated to providing children with all types of reading and coloring materials. When ordering drinks, they provide a full bar with an assortment of cocktails, however, the draft menu seemed small and did not match my preferences. For our appetizer, we enjoyed the drunken mussels served in an amazing sauce perfect for dipping bread into. We also received salads along with our entrees. While the salad was nothing special, the dressings tasted homemade and special. However, that is where uniqueness seemed to end. The entrees were a decent, they were forgettable. My catch of the day, Black-tip shark, was a decent portion, but did not have a serious "wow" factor. Same with the side of green beans with rice pilaf. My date's gravy covered turkey, while a unique dish, still lacked that "wow" factor. While it was not the best meal I had, it most definitely is not the worst. I am highly open to try this establishment again in the near future. Pros: Nice atmosphere, reasonably priced, great wait staff Cons: Entrees uninspiring

Fantastic brunch! Unfortunately the menu is a bit limited for brunch BUT that's my only complaint. I tried the chicken and biscuits which was the best I've had in town. Thick, perfectly friend chicken and soft buttery biscuits... awesome. The pancakes were also good, very fluffy, with some cinnamon love instead of just your normal run of the mill flapjacks. Coffee is good, atmosphere is entertaining, and service is on point. I can't wait to go back and try more.

I really dislike writing some reviews because I selfishly put table availability at risk. What a place! As soon as you enter you immediately feel comfortable with the staff and surroundings. I found the décor inviting and relaxing. Amy, the manager this evening and two waitresses, Katrina and Jennifer made our visit complete. Everyone was friendly and engaging. The food, oh my goodness :) We ordered the artichoke and pretzels for apps (try the cheese dip with the pretzels please), Cobb salads, steak/cheese, wine and had a lovely time. If I could only live within walking distance of The Mill. Quality was excellent (fresh salad) and the diced country ham on my Cobb really made it special. One slight issue, the bread pudding. It was very good, but a touch dry, and yes, I still ate it all. I would order it again, however there are so many choices, it will be a while before I get back to it. Please do yourself a favor and stop by the The Mill, you will not be sorry.

Below average brunch, certainly nothing beyond the skills of the average home cook. Pancakes were rubbery to the point where they were a challenge to cut. Hash, while flavorful, was soggy. Eggs weren't salted, making their runny texture very off-putting. Steak was tough. Black beans were straight from the can. Beer on tap was almost at room temperature. And the list goes on. Given the numerous brunch option within a short drive of this location, I see very little reason to return for another meal.

Went back recently for brunch... the prices were lowered, but so was the quality. Better bacon and sausage would help a lot (these were clearly the pre-cooked and re-thermed variety) and though the coffee was Lamplighter, it tasted very old. Perhaps a clean out of the coffee urns is next. Overall- all our food was incredibly salty. I feel like this place is turning into kind of a crappy, stand-by diner. Like a place you go when all the other places are busy because the food is just ok, and you need a place to go. I really want to like this place- its so cute. but the food just isn't nearly the quality i wish it were. An aside to the very nice, but incredibly quiet talking waitress, if everyone is saying "WHAT?!" after you speak with them ...every time... its time to speak louder, or you run the risk of annoying your customers.

Big shout out to the staff at The MIll and chef Brandon. Customer service is a priority at this place; vegetarians and vegans will be pleased with the selection. This place puts down roots to keep regulars coming back, and has the openness to excite newcomers. Excellent, homemade desserts if you have a sweet tooth. Bacon Apple Pie cannot be beat! Enjoy!

Thanks again Yelpers for reviewing Mill on MacArthur! Hubby was craving some kind of fried chicken and gravy dish for dinner and I was surprisingly having some trouble finding a restaurant in Richmond that serves something like he was craving. Fortunately a few Yelpers had mentioned the fried chicken biscuits at MacArthur and their version really hits the spot. I was feeling like being healthy that night and ordered the black bean & corn cake sliders. The sliders were tasty but nothing compared to the fried, gravy covered decadence on my husband's plate. It seems like The Mill is fairly popular. It was packed on a Friday night at peak hour but we managed to snag some seats at the bar after about 15 minutes. Something tells me that the wait won't matter when a craving for those chicken biscuits hits!

The Mill's got a family friendly vibe but won't scare away hipsters, the gays, or anyone else that doesn't find monogrammed initials on the back of their car "cute". The food is home-style, no-fluff, and comforting with a fresh focus on local farmed ingredients. The grub is great and the chill atmosphere is honest and welcomed. The ample menu ranges from pizzas and wraps to shrimp and grits. Scanning the menu, you'll wish that you could sample just about everything it has to offer. The three of us started with the Basil Hummus Plate ($8). It's not your standard (and bland) pita and hummus dish. This plate's packed with onions, roasted red peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, warm pita, pepperoncinis, and feta. Ah yi yi. This could be a meal in itself. It was fresh, light, and perfect. For my main dish, I chose a Blackened Chicken Wrap ($8). It wasn't surprisingly spectacular but I did enjoy it. The lettuce was fresh, crunchy, and un-wilted. Much unlike other "wraps" I've had. I chose sweet potato fries for a side and was very pleased. They were extra crispy, salty, and sweet. I adore sweet potato fries. My girlfriends mom chose the Shrimp and Grits ($15). They were fantastic- the shrimp were pleasantly large and the grits (the real deal from Hanover County) looked perfect. We decided to all split a slice of the Peanut Butter Pie. I'm not a huge fan of peanut butter desserts (I know, what the hell is wrong with me, right?) but I was absolutely pleased with the cool and creamy dessert. It was rich with notes of pb and chocolate. Need I say more?

I've been loath to say anything about The Mill for fear of more people discovering it and packing the place. But how can I hold back on the love? The wonderful staff, great burgers, delicious homemade soups, incredible specials (all the time) and vegetarian dishes made that actually celebrate the inherent wonderfulness of the veg instead of using it as a mere substitute in a traditional meat dish. And, of course, Wing Wednesday and the nirvana that is Honey Habenero wings ... mmmmmm. But the staff truly elevate this place from a good neighborhood joint to legend. And special love goes out to the bar staff. My favorite seat in the house is at the bar. The bartenders are attentive, funny, professional, knowledgeable, and truly friendly. Their suggestions are always spot-on and their knowledge of shark attack precautions is second to none in the Richmond area. And once you become a regular? The first glass of water is on the house. That's fair :-)

Erhmahgerd brunch. So much brunch. Bruuuuuunch. Also, banging mimosas. This is probably one of the most reliable brunch spots that you'll actually find in the richmond area, in a lot of ways. The broad beverage selection is a major plus, but the wide menu and superb service are the primary draw. I've had a series of phenomenal meals, and a generally positive experience here with such consistency that it's entering in my regular rotation.

Superior ! This establishment gets a really rare five star from me. We dropped in randomly from the road after other good Yelp reviews and chose here. Food was terrific. Service great. Decor interesting. The lamb stew special was astounding. Biscuits and crab penne great. My daughter literally shrieked over the mac and cheese, and did a jaw dropping little dance for our server, who was fun, thoughtful, on task, and attentive. Every element of the evening was top flight, even national caliber, and that's coming from someone experienced in dining in Manhattan, SF bay area, Boston, Atlanta, and Chicago. The Mill is truly a great effort, and a well put together, thoughtful, interesting local little gem, that's also local conscious and eco considerate, while being excellent in almost every aspect. Hard to say anything bad about it, except for the smallish size and brief wait, which just underscores how good this group is doing with their culinary and community effort. Thanks !!

Came for dinner with my wife on a Saturday around 8 pm. Restaurant was relatively busy and we had t wait about 20 minutes. Food was great, server was very friendly, good beer selection. Only negative is that it feels like you are on top of the other patrons since its a small place.

So nice to have another good spot on MacArthur! Now that I've heard about how good their brunch is, I'll have to give it a go (and give them a chance at that elusive 5th star). I'm an appetizer geek. I had a few folks with me and we shared some appetizers... Good french fries! Home cut, which always makes me happy. The hummus platter was good too, with a big load of feta cheese crumbles on the side. Twist my arm and I might just be talked into shoveling a spoonful of decent feta into my mouth. The feta was decent, not great but certainly good enough. Fried artichoke hearts! I was super excited, but disappointed at a sauce that really didn't do anything for the dish. I'm really not sure what it was, but some ranch dressing or a nice aioli would have hit the mark with these. What they served with it was just too bland. The fried tofu looked amazing, and apparently it was. So much so that I didn't get any because of everyone else devouring it! Good stuff, though. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Why it took me so long to visit The Mill, I don't know. After all, I'm frequently in Bellevue visiting friends and I always enjoy venturing to restaurants I've never visited. I finally went to The Mill for lunch last week and was totally impressed. I loved the ambiance- bright, relaxed, and comfortable. It's on the smaller side but the layout makes it feel roomy and inviting. I had my eye on the crab mac 'n cheese lunch special and was a little bummed that it was sold out by the time I ordered. I guess that just means I'll have to go back next time they offer it! Thankfully so many menu items looked appealing that I didn't feel like I was settling after being denied my first choice. In fact, I struggled with whether to order a breakfast sandwich (yep- another plus is the fact that they serve breakfast items through lunch!) or a pizza. After consulting with the server (who was awesome, by the way), I went with a pizza. Just plain cheese because I wanted the flavors of the homemade sauce to shine through. And shine through they did! The pizza was delicious and definitely unique. It didn't have your typical crust; this was a bit sweeter than what I'm used to, but it paired well with the fresh-made sauce. And at $9, the 14" pizza was a steal! Not only was it lunch for me, but also a component of dinner for me and my bf. Talk about stretching a dollar! I'd love to try out more of the menu, and certainly plan to return again for lunch. With free wi-fi, it's a great spot to tote your laptop and power through some work during a solo meal!

We came here for a small breakfast. The food was good, but it took so long that I probably wouldn't come back. We were seated right away at one of the last open tables on a Sunday morning but it took forever for the waitress to take our order. Then after we had been waiting about 20 minutes for our food I started looking around and realized that all the adjacent tables, who'd gotten to the restaurant before us, still weren't eating. When our food came, as I said, it was decent. The 'old faithful' breakfast is tasty and cheap. It also took a very long time to pay. Fortunately we weren't really in a hurry, but on some days I would have been annoyed. We were finished with our food for quite awhile, just sitting, waiting for the waitress to bring our check. By this time, a bunch of small groups were waiting in line to be seated, and it's silly that they had to stand around for 15+ minutes waiting for our table when we were clearly ready to leave. I apologize to the Mill for making my review mostly about the slow service, but it's what sticks out for me. The atmosphere is nice and the waitresses are friendly, and they do have a full bar. It has good potential and maybe it'll improve as the wait staff gets more experience.

Had a great Mother's Day "Linner" (Lunch/Dinner) here on Mother's Day after spending the day at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Found it via Yelp and it did not disappoint. All of our sandwiches and bigger dishes were delish - chicken parm, the chicken biscuit, meatloaf, Philly Cheese steak, and burgers... all were really tasty! The key lime pie we shared was amazing! Service was attentive --- my mom and my wine never came but the waiter was incredibly apologetic about this fact. We'd go back again!

Once again I wanted to try brunch at the Empress. Once again it was Saturday and they weren't open (if you're reading this Empress owners, please open on Saturdays!). It was hard to pass up Dot's just across the street, but I wanted to try something new so I went with the Mill. Ehhh... why mess with perfection?! After a 5+ minute wait for our server and a longer wait for drinks I was starving and couldn't decide between breakfast or something from the main menu. Naturally I went with a pairing of habanero wings and a breakfast burrito.... doused down with diet Coke and sips of my GF's coffee and bloody mary. The wings at first appeared to be great. Not too heavily coated in batter, sweet and a little spicy. And big. Until we noticed blood in the wings... GROSS. Bad. Bleh... Still my appetite was abundant and I wanted a damn burrito. I was satisfied with the burrito, heavy on egg, lighter on the other stuff but it was pretty good. The server brought us some new wings to go and was nice enough to take half off for the experience of getting bloody poultry. How nice. The place had a cool look, service was slow, but polite, and the food was decent. There is no reason to come back for brunch when there is a brunch mecca beaconing across the street. I wanted to love this place. It just wasn't great. I think 2 stars for bloody chicken and slow service is more than generous.

This is a local restaurant in a great neighborhood in the Northside. They are always friendly and have great staff. The food is always well made and very delicious. They have something on their menu for everyone. They offer a weekend brunch that has a really good menu for all tastes as well. I live in the neighborhood and love supporting this place and the owners do what they can to support the neighborhood. If you are in this area check out The Mill and then take a walk around and check out the area.

I love, love, love The Mill. My husband and I go here regularly, and it feels so good to go to a neighborhood place where the staff is genuinely friendly, they know us by name and by order, and the food is consistently good. I can't say enough good things about this place.

Even though I am giving The Mill 3 stars, I believe it will be a comfortable contender in my short list of frequented spots. I say this because, while I really enjoyed the whole experience there, I only had their pasta and marinara (hardly a foodie litmus test dish). My thought is that their menu is so vegetarian-friendly, and well, my girlfriend is a veg-head, so... looks like I'll be going here a good bit. Nice little spot... not too large inside, but looks like it can seat enough people to make it a fun crowd. The servers / bartenders were very nice and laid-back. Looking forward to returning...

This is my favorite new restaurant. We've been several times now, and everything about it is just fantastic. Literally everything on the menu is good. There hasn't been a thing I've tried that hasn't been totally excellent. They source a lot of their food locally and it shows in the quality. Everything tastes really fresh, from eggs to meats to produce. They make everything from scratch (save room for dessert). Portion sizes are very large and prices are downright cheap. Quiches are creative and delicious with homemade crusts. Burgers are meaty and juicy with a nice variety of toppings. I haven't had an entree I didn't like yet. Meatloaf Mountain is literally a mountain, including a little American flag on top. It'll make you laugh. Two people can easily split it. We almost always order specials because they're irresistible. One highlight was duck confit, which was meltingly tender with crispy skin. Again, I received a massive portion with two sides, and it was only $14. The potato cakes are one of my favorite sides. Brunch may be my favorite meal there. They have it Saturdays and Sundays, which is a big plus. I adore the chicken and biscuits. You get two big, juicy pieces of chicken over homemade biscuits with white gravy. It comes with fruit and a side of sausage, bacon or veggie sausage. It's to die for. The shrimp and grits are another favorite. Yellow, locally stone-ground grits are served with succulent shrimp and an over easy egg, plus homemade biscuit. If you like pickles, try the pickle bloody mary. I love them. It's a cozy little place with great ambiance. Do keep in mind that it's small, so if you come, say, on Friday at 7pm, you'll probably wait for a table. It will be worth it. The staff is so friendly and the food is so good that you will be very, very glad you stayed.

Some of our scattered family members met here before everyone headed back out of town for a nice dinner. This was the first time I had been there personally but others had been repeat offenders. Out of all the main dishes I didn't hear any complaints, I devoured mine because I was starving, the food being delicious helped a lot too.! The only reason I left a 3 star was the server. He wasn't ever rude to us, but he was clearly put off that we had a young baby with us. However one of the managers (shift leader possibly?) was great and went over and above to help us out especially when the baby started to get fussy towards the end of our meal. We will certainly be back but probably shoot for lunch service. I was a bit disappointed by the Oreo truffles, while they were good, it wasn't the recipe I was expecting.

5 stars because I can! What to say... I loved this place. So we arrived around 7 pm on a Saturday. The place was full with 2 groups ahead of me and my wife. The wait wasn't bad. They have a decent craft beer and wine selection to keep you busy while you wait. The bar is a little small so we pretty much had to stand in the middle of the floor but it wasn't bad. The place is a bit small but that's ok. I like that in a little neighborhood place. I wouldn't say it's kid-friendly really but only because out little one is a bit of a hand full and because the place is a little small, she'd be a distraction to us and other diners. Parking is a little hit or miss. Street parking (for the most part I think). We didn't get apps but our entrees came with salad. I was happy to have roasted red peppers on the salad since I oped for their roasted red pepper dressing! It was very good and very fresh! I had the Shrimp and Grits. I've had this all over the south. I would say this take on it wasn't what I would call "traditional" but that's not to say it was anything less than great! I was VERY happy that it was not over-salted. That's my personal pet peeve these days. My wife ordered their baked meatball pasta dish. It too was really good. The meat had a little red pepper (which I liked) but wasn't over-seasoned. and not over-salted! Oh, did I mention I hate it when chef's over-salt? After-all, they put the salt on the table for a reason! We can't wait to go back.

Consistently excellent neighborhood place with local beer on tap and locally sourced menu. The pizza is my favorite. We like sitting at the bar. Also enjoy it as a brunch spot. Bloodies are outstanding.

Overall I'm a huge fan of this place. It immediately scored brownie points with me because they have a vast array of vegetarian and vegan options. The food is well-prepared, yummy, fairly priced, and the portions are reasonable. Got the BBQ Tofu which was loved by both the vegetarians and omnivores of the group. The fried artichoke hearts were crispy, not oily. And the artichoke po' boy was really well seasoned, but just a bit on the dry side. It could have benefitted from some additional aioli. (But how cool is it that they even offer vegan aioli!?!) The space and the place are somewhat limited - The restaurant is small, it fills up quickly, and there's really no place for patrons to wait for a table. Parking will probably be a nightmare if you go on a weekend. But if you go early enough for brunch, you'll miss crowd, score a good parking space, and enjoy some really fantastic food in a nice, quaint little environment.

The best spot for brunch on north side! Their daily specials are usually pretty good, but they take it to a new level on Saturday and Sunday! Add that to their already stacked brunch menu (see: the hot mess and country fried chicken and biacuits) and its guaranteed you'll find something you want. I usually spend more time debating myself on what to order than it takes me to actually eat everything. 1 star deduction because the potato pancake is usually a bit bland. Sriracha will take care of this though!
