We went there dinner on Fathers Day. We loved sitting on the porch...the server was very nice, attentive and hustling. We will definitely be going back.

Visited on their first full weekend open tonight and its a mixed review. The beer was delicious and our server was nice. We ordered the sampler of beer which was a great deal and ordered our meals. My steak came out and when it did one of the onion rings it came with fell off on the ground. The servers said they'd bring me a new one - but never did. The mashed potatoes were cold. Not even luke warm. Also y steak was supposed to come out sizzling with butter. About 5 minutes later thy said whoops we forgot the butter an brought me some on the side. At that pour I told my server all the issues and said I just really need a steak knife. She never brought one ever after. Though she alerted the manager about my issues and he took my meal off the bill. I couldn't get a replacement meal because we had time sensitive tickets to a show. Everyone was sweet but they have some major kinks to work out

Probably some of the worst bar staff I've encountered in a long time. When I informed them that we were staying for dinner, that still didn't stop one of the bartenders from repeatedly plopping down a check after every single drink we ordered. I think they thought we were going to leave without paying. When I had to ask repeatedly for another beer or another refill of my water with a bartender directly in front of me cleaning a bottle (at 9pm when they close at midnight), I felt like giving up. The food was decent, although disappointed the menu states food specials take place starting at 9pm but was informed by the bar staff that "the computers won't let us start until 10pm." Really don't understand the logic behind that. The calamari was a little overcooked, but the wings were delicious. I have been to a Rock Bottom before and the service was infinitely better. Next time I'm in the West End I'll be forgoing Rock Bottom in favor of Firebirds, a chain that can get it right.

My husband and I had a late lunch here last week. Our first time eating here. Rachel was our server. She was so helpful, informative, friendly, attentive, etc.. I ended up having the new burger Yeah Ale and my husband had the burger with the egg on it (cant remember the name) Both were so good. Cooked perfectly. Fries were crunchy and fresh - We ordered wine and the guy who brought the wine offered suggestions and was helpful with explaining the brew process there and the different brews available - We will try the beers next time out. There will be a next time. The atmosphere, service and food were all top notch.

More like 3.5. Rock Bottom is a fun casual place to dine in for lunch or dinner. The environment is very modern/socialrelaxed/elegant. The food is better than average and the burgers taste fresh. With my visits there, the waiters are overall polite although there were one or two encounters where they weren't as warming. I greatly enjoy the happy hour where drinks and select appetizers are half off. The biggest thing that I find inconvenient is how you can only sit in a certain area if you want to take advantage of their happy hour. I've had issues with this mix up several times for I have been told different rules or policies regarding this. So pretty much to be able to order half off appetizers during happy hour hours, you need to sit at the bar or cocktail area as far as I have been told. I don't know if this is because they want to reserve the non cocktail seating area tables because they are bigger and so they can seat bigger groups? but I don't know, I think it is a bit silly if this is the case. Only if you are seated in a specific area can you enjoy happy hour??? Anywho, the food is good and the prices are manageable.

Excellent setup for the short pump area. Was surprised on how long it took the staff to recognize my presence in the patio area. It wasn't like I was the only one out there nor was it jamming like tiki bobs on a Friday night 15 years ago. It seriously took 10 minutes to get recognized and the another 5 for a draft pour. I would hate to see what this place is like on a busy weekend. My wife shows up and the nice gentlemen who brought me my beer delegated her beer sampling request to another server! Not the best start. Maybe it's just Monday! Pick it up RB!

We were excited to try Rock Bottom. We love to visit breweries and love to sit outside to eat so we looked forward to a great experience. Unfortunately this was not a great experience. Inexplicably the beer we ordered took FOREVER in arriving at the table. Sit down, order flights and an appetizer. Appetizer comes, no beer. It arrives a few minutes later. We sample and order two beers to have with our meals. Meals arrive, no beer. We waited 10 more minutes after flagging our server down to receive our two beers. He said the bar was backed up. However the restaurant wasn't running a wait and these were two draft beers. On top of that the food was indifferent. We got the ahi tuna appetizer and it was small, not super fresh, and strangely lacking in flavor despite a spicy sauce. For entrees the burger was ok...tasty but nothing special except for the bun which tasted homemade. The seafood tacos were heavy on bread and lettuce and skimpy on seafood. Two stars since the server was a nice guy, the beer was good, and the food wasn't inedible. But with so many better dining options in the area we won't be back.

Rock Bottom is the place to be at Short Pump Town Center! It was packed when we got there; the entire restaurant was full, in addition to the large bar. We accidentally walked into the "back" door, so we had to navigate to the "front" of the restaurant to find the hostess' station. The bar was full, but a table nearby opened up almost immediately--seating in the bar area is first come, first serve. The waitress was quick to clean off the table, and she was very friendly. We were able to ask her about the craft beer selections for the night, and she also inquired if it was our first visit--in case we had any questions about the beer or the menu. My boyfriend ordered the IPA--he found it to be quite tasty! I ordered the stout, which was a creamy, coffee blend. It was delicious! It took a little time for the drinks to arrive, but the waitress was more than happy to entertain our questions and provide some knowledge about the beer brewing process. We decided to split the Calamari and Pepper Rings as an appetizer, and also ordered the Rock Bottom Tacos with Lobster and Shrimp. The appetizer arrived quickly, although, it left a bit to be desired. I think that calamari is becoming a "staple" on appetizer menus, and restaurants are not working to "jazz" them up at all. The dipping sauce was tasty, but it really wasn't anything to write home about. The main course was plated nicely, with black beans and rice as side dishes. It was interesting that the tacos were made with a soft tortilla shell on the outside, and a crunchy blue corn taco shell on the inside. The tacos were a little heavy on the lettuce, and even though it was fresh and crisp lettuce, I felt like it overpowered the shrimp and lobster flavor. The black beans and rice were delicious! I would definitely order this dish again, and I am looking forward to trying the Shrimp and Lobster Enchiladas the next time we're there. Beware, the restaurant is loud--especially during happy hour--but the TVs are super-clear, and it looks like this is going to be a great place to watch the game in the fall!

Visited this restaurant on 6/7/14. If I had realized the restaurant had only been open for one week I would not have gone there. The 5 of us ordered our drinks but never received them. We asked to move to a different table and with that move we got a different waitress. At least she got our drinks to us within a reasonable amount of time. We placed our order for food and after 30 mins we asked how much longer it would be. The waitress checked and the cook had not even started our orders yet. So we asked for the bill for the drinks & started to leave. The manager apologized for the long wait & offered to pay for the drinks & wanted to give us a card for free appetizers for next visit but we declined because we will not be coming back. It appears to be a decent restaurant but very slow service.

I've been several times to this Rock Bottom now, and I will say that I am impressed. The beer selection is fabulous! I prefer dark beers, so the coffee stout is always my choice, but I do get the "flight" first to enjoy trying the other beers as well. The jalapeno bread sticks are a favorite for an appetizer. The bread sticks are yummy and the dip that comes with them is just right. I had the Ahi Tuna Salad which is incredible. The tuna is perfectly cooked and the salad has fresh vegetables. I am excited that there are opportunities for making healthy choices here. I did wish for more apple in the salad, but that's minor. My husband had the lobster/shrimp tacos one time and thought they were delicious and very filling. He had the appetizer tacos made with fish the next time and thought they made an excellent, fresh tasting dinner (there are 4 small tacos - perfect for sharing as an appetizer, but great for a one person small dinner) The service has been exceptional, especially since they have only been open less than month. The managers are always circulating and very helpful. I always see them helping the servers and being attentive to the customers. Overall, this is a great addition to Short Pump.

I went for the flight of beers because it was my first time--Red Ale and the Oatmeal stout were my faves. But the burger: Maker's Mark® Bourbonzola was amazing. So good that I may have a hard time trying other items on the menu! Loved the interior and we didn't have a wait, so that was nice. Although there was a wait when we left. We had no issue with having our 4-year old there--they have a kids menu.

Oh God! That place is awesome! They have craft beer and they are delicious. I drank the "White Ale", "Red colonial?", and the dark beers. They are amazing too. I liked the food in this place: Nachos and spicy abundant and pretzel with hot chess. The prices of the beer is good. 5 USD per glass, but they have happy hour until 6:30 pm. on the week , so you can pay less than regular prices. The food in good price to me. I will go back this place. I like the atmosphere and music. Sometimes in a little noisy but, it is ok if You are talking or watching the television. I usually go to the Bar and I can say that bartenders are polite. Now in Spanish Oh Dios! .

Rock Bottom eh? The culmination of a descent to a place where a person has nothing left to lose in terms of possessions, status, wealth and perhaps even shelter as a result of self-destructive behavior. Alcohol and drug abuse are often contributing factors. References by musicians, companies and in movies could be an allusion to this. So how about we name our lackluster bar this? This is where an advertising agency with Don Draper would have rescued you. They would have fixed this and called it something else. This chain was founded in Denver for Pete's sake. From the website: "When you hit Rock Bottom, you'll enjoy our handcrafted beers, our made from scratch food, and something else that just doesn't happen that often...a connection to the locals." You can't make this stuff up. Made from scratch food? Are you really going there? Let's not kid ourselves. This is a just a dolled up TGIF|Applebee's|Chili's casual dining place that happens to serve craft beer nothing more. I've been here three times and it's all just more of the same. Large chain, performance food group supplied crap. Even if that's not your specific food source distributor it's all just cheap food thrown on a plate. I did like the beer though. The house beers are nice. I like that your menu clearly states: fresh handcrafted beer is the only beer. You HAVE to respect that at least. I have a new name for this place, instead of Rock Bottom how about Butherface Brewery? Smokin' body butherface was so nasty I had to get out the old paper bag.

The sauce in the cup was a joke ! But good ! Less than two ounce c'mon man! Lol! The chicken sandwich was good ! The shrimp pasta outstanding . Just a good feel'! Did i say the beer was very good!

My other half and I came here on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't crowded at all at there were just enough servers working. We started with a beer sampling. My hubby is an IPA fanatic so he already knew what he wanted. I, however, am a fan of lighter bodied beers like Stella Artois. I sampled 3 delicious beers but none quite as light as I like so I opted for a house made mango margarita instead which was delicious (they are only on the rocks which I love). As we sipped, we perused the menu. Our waitress remained patient and friendly despite our lack of urgency and indecisiveness. We both got burgers--the classic and the smashed--with broccoli mac and cheese and fries for sides. We shared the sides which were all delicious (especially the Mac and cheese) but not our burgers which were perfectly cooked (medium well) on soft buns. My only wish is that the bun was smaller or the burger bigger as we discarded a lot of the delicious bread. I also wish they used romaine instead of cheap iceberg lettuce (not a fan). Overall we had a great though slightly pricey ($47) experience.

Been here quite a few times. It seems like the server is overloaded with one table asking her for any and everything each time she passes by them to seeming annoyed when taking our order. I was a little put off but watching how she handled the guests at that table not allowing them to cause her to lose her cool made me appreciate her a little more. I had had a long day traveling and in meetings in DC and then traffic so trying to get in a nice dinner with my family was the only thing on my mind. I wasn't going in a positive direction on this review for Rock Bottom but I must be honest The manager, Dale saved the review and the evening by being observant of the guests in and outside this busy restaurant. The nachos with chicken were great. Served with sour cream and slightly spicy sauce didn't last long. The kids had a burger and grilled cheese while my wife enjoyed a cheese pizza and I had the street tacos appetizer as my entree. No complaints and we will definite stop in again soon.

First time here with my co workers. This is located upstairs at short pump mall on top of the funny bone comedy club. The place is nice, our server was pretty good, and the food was good. I tried the hand tossed chipotle pizza, it was really good and enough for twoto share. I chose a side ceasar salad to fill me up and I left there full and hally. The drinks were damn good too, i had a sangria that was super delicious.

I really want to like this place. The bar is open and a fun place to hang out. I love beer and I love the location. Unfortunately, I have just never found anything on the menu that I like. On this visit we got the sliders and fish tacos. The sliders were very boring and typical. The tacos had way too much hot sauce on them and I've always thought the feta cheese they top it with is just a weird choice. One of my pieces of fish definitely looked questionably cooked. I've never had bad service here but they've never been super friendly either. This is a fun place to hang out on the patio or at the bar but that's it. I definitely don't recommend it for dinner.

Sit at the bar for my visit and had to actually beg to get service every time we wanted another drink or to order food. My husband ordered a rack of ribs that came out cold and then when we finally got the attention of the bar staff so we could tell they really did not want to be bothered but they did bring some more ribs out but then they were so dry they tasted like rubber. Drinks were good when you could get one but that is all I can really say about the place. Sad to mention this but I will. Got their before my husband and I was served by the white bartenders but as soon as my husband who is of color arrived the only one that even tried to assist us was a very nice young African American lady behind the bar. Don't think this will be a place we come to again anytime soon.

I've been here a few times now and the experience is always the same. While the food is okay, the service tends to be more 'meh'. The food and beer is good. And the nachos are giant! Each time we went, there was either a long wait for our order or something was incorrect. Twice, the wait was so long, we actually got vouchers for free entrees. The waitstaff is always nice, and the managers are always apologetic, but the same thing keeps happening. I think I'll likely just stop in for a drink the next time and skip the meal.

I have been here twice now and am pretty pleased with the outcome. The first time we came we ordered a burger and fries, and had some sort of salmon bites as an appetizer and it was delicious. The second time I ordered a Cristo sandwich and it was okay, just not something I'd probably order again. Great beer selection. You would hope so since it's a brewery, I'm not much of a beer drinker, but my husband is obsessed with their dark beers. Service is average and the atmosphere is kinda loud and "trendy."

The waiter was really helpful and gave great recommendations for beers. We ended up ordering two beers and two burgers. After a long day of running errands this place hit the spot. The beers were great wheat beers, and the burgers had just about the right temp. I would recommend ordering a medium rare here, the temp will come out to a medium. All in all, the place was really worth the visit.

Best burger I've had in a long time. First timers here and I had trouble picking what I wanted on the menu because of the great options. Great with kids, kids menu cheap and lengthy. Of course beer is delicious too

This was my second visit. The first was mediocre so I thought I would give it another chance. My first beer was flat. The waitress said that was impossible because they brew their own beer. I have enjoyed beer for over 30 years and it was flat. My wife and I tried the nachos for a starter and this sealed the deal. We had no interest in ordering dinner. The nachos had very little toppings and were a bit bland. The couple next to us had the manager over so they could complain about both their dinners. There are so many restaurants in town that serve good beer and food. This is not one of them.

My family had a great lunch here yesterday. The food was well prepared and fresh and the beer flight showcased an interesting variety of brews. I started with a garden salad that was fresh with romaine, cucumbers, carrots, cranberries and croutons. I highly recommend the house balsamic vinegarette. Light with a subtle sweetness. For my entree I had the avocado chicken sandwich with fries. It was tasty, nothing mind blowing. The shoestring fries were a bit overwhelming. My grandparents split the chicken/bacon mac n' cheese and it was incredibly rich and creamy. Our party of four finished with the carrot cake, which was out of this world. Melt in your mouth moist, just enough cream cheese icing to complement but not overpower the flavor and textures of the cake. The space is lovely- I really like the vibe of the bar. Very high ceilings and lots of sunlight. They had an impressive outside patio too. Service was pretty good. Our server was attentive and upbeat. Some may have taken his sarcasm the wrong way. A minor annoyance was the floor manager, who checked on our table several times. Twice- both when I got my salad and my entree- she asked how the food was before I even had a chance to taste it. She just didn't seem sincere at all. Nice addition to Short Pump!

Hard to find But the beer was good appetizers were ok. Service was sub par- a lot of people hanging around not doing much. Overall decent. With so many options in the area, I don't mind precasting for my next visit.

I am so disappointed at rock bottom, this was my favorite place to go with friends and family for beers and snacks. But for the past few month I have changed places cause they are so inconsistent with service, food and drink. Now just to top it all off, I went back on Saturday night with my family and my brother in law got a dessert to go(Apple pie) in a mason jar. When we got home we notice the bottle had a little crack so we didn't think much of it but as he kept on eating it he came upon something crunchy. He spit it out and found that his mouth was bleeding cause he got a piece of glass. Wtf!!!! Yum Apple pie with blood. We are so disgusted and so disappointed at this place I don't know who to call. I wonder if they are aware that there are other brewery opening around short pump and their beers are just as good or not better that rock bottoms. Never going back.

Awesome restaurant and brewery with a great atmosphere at Short Pump Town Centre! Definitely start off with the jalapeño pretzels and a beer flight. There's a ton of beers to choose from, and a good deal of them are local craft beers. Food and drinks are moderately priced and the servers are always friendly.

I have been meaning to review this place for quite some time now. I've been several times and it's just ok. Literally, the three stars is only for the open concept of the bar and outdoor deck. Other than that it is nothing special. Service is s.l.o.w and it's mostly due to that stupid beer flight that they serve stupidly for $6. When I got into a debate about it with someone behind the bar about how underpriced it was they said "well it equals out to be a 16 oz pour so that's why it's priced that way." As I watch other servers feverishly creating the flights and having to let this one rest while they fill this other one, or waiting on the hundreds of tiny glasses to get washed because there just isn't enough of them, and watching other customers get ignored while servers are hustling to get this stupid flights out I know that $6 is just not enough money. I sure hope they have a one flight per person maximum because these people would order them over and over. As far as the food goes, there is almost nothing here I can/will eat. Everything is ridiculously sized and either fried or breaded or both, or smothered in cheese or some other sauce. Now granted they have a few lighter things on the menu just nothing that stands out. Last time I went literally ate before I got there because I knew it would be money wasted. I cannot attest to their beer menu as I don't drink it but those flights are popular so it must be ok. Wine selection, particularly the white, is awful. It's hot as crap outside and the one white varietal that I like is Cupcake brand? Meh!!!! Great place for drinks outside. That's about it.

This place is a great spot for good food and good beer. They have a "hip" younger staff, and they do a decent job. I have never been disappointed by the food I have ordered here. And their beer selection is pretty good. I would certainly recommend it. Lots of tvs in the bar area as well.

Really the best burger around the Richmond area. They use fresh never frozen beef and grill it to perfection. It has that taste you always remember as the way burgers used to taste. Full of flavor Sunday's Game Day specials are a great value, too. $3 beers- loved the RB Red Ale Great service. Alexandria did a super job relaxed and fun but everything spot on.

It's okay. 2.5. The food was average and poorly plated. The menu looks pretty good but the delivery was disappointing. I had the grilled chicken bruschetta. The chicken was rubbery and the balsamic drowned the tomatoes. I loved that it came with a nicely cooked broccoli. Ultimately, it was nice to have a non carb loaded menu item. The real reason for the low grade, however, is the slow service. Man it took forever. And the. We were given the wrong drinks for round 2. It then took forever to get the check. I am glad to be out of there.

Love! Love!l Love this place. In Short Pump Towne Center. (Only minutes from my new house) Yay!!! Atmosphere was very relaxing but yet still fun for a brewery. Food. Let's talk about that. Huge portions. Fresh. And oh boy...was it good. If you know me.. I don't typically eat a lot and drink. But the nachos were so yummy! I had a hard time stopping myself!! And the portion.. Umm yeah. The whole table ate off of them. I didn't drink the beer that night. But my friends went on and one about it. Can't wait to go back and who knows this could be my next favorite local place. Check it out!!! You won't regret it!

We enjoyed the food. I liked the Cajun fish tacos. The service could've been better. We are a family of five and it is preferred that all of our meals come out together. We do understand there are times when there might be a minute or two lag time with a plate. One of our dishes took about five extra minutes. And we all had ordered tacos.

Gosh, I wish I had noted our server's name! She was absolutely lovely. I believe I overheard her say she's either going to law school or preparing to do so, if that helps? At any rate, she truly made for a great experience for us. We went in for drinks & appies, and will definitely give them a try sometime for a meal as well. Hubs did the beer flight, while I enjoyed their most excellent sangria. Between the street tacos & artichoke-crab dip, we were more than satisfied. It was the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. Bonus points -- giving Hubs beer prior to furniture shopping makes for a much more pleasant experience!

Good menu, great atmosphere and awesome beer. The only bad thing I can see is the sloped bar. If you put your beer on the sloped edge it slips off and breaks on the ground. It happened to 2 people since I've been here. Besides that, it's awesome

A lot smaller than I thought, but overall a great place. They have a decent beer selection and good food. The only thing that I would say needs improvement is how they present their food. We ordered the Nacho's and it looked like they threw it together, put it on what looked like a cutting board and gave it to us.

Delicious, and the food's good too! Seriously this place is awesome the atmosphere the staff, great overall experience.

The nachos are tasty, and when I asked for extra jalapeños they actually gave me enough of them, and I love jalapeños. The red ale is really good. Try the flight to figure out what you like! The burgers are very good too. The prices are a tad high for the food, but it is worth it for the superior quality of the overall experience.

Rock Bottom is an appropriate name for this restaurant. Let me be clear I have been to Rock Bottoms in different states over the past 15 years. While most of the time the experience ranged from passable to good, you'll never confuse it with an amazing brew house experience. It lacks the charm of a non-chain brew house as well as possessing the poor execution found in large chains. None of these are the reasons for my poor review. My reason is simple. I ordered the mason jar pie to go. It was later in the evening and admittedly I was sitting at the bar (which I usually avoid because the bartender is often a poor substitute for a great server), but it took a long time to get my order for this pie in and to finally get it (10 minutes and 15 minutes). This mason jar pie is their desert served in this tiny mason jar. If you pay an extra $1, you get to take the jar home with you, which I did. When I got home I went to eat my pie from the jar as intended. As I was eating I noticed that the jar was cracked. It was cracked almost from top to bottom. I then noticed that there was a chip at the top of the crack. As if when they put the pie in they hit the jar with something. Then I found the pieces of glass that were missing from the edge of the jar. THE PIECES WERE IN MY MOUTH MIXED IN WITH THE PIE!!! So, my sister in law tweeted this and my wife called but so far no response from Rock Bottom. Avoid this place unless you don't value your health!!!!

Love this place. Lunch, dinner, happy hour drinks. It's an all around. Great food, great service. Lobster Tacos are the best. The rice can be a bit spicy, but it's a fav. Burgers are great. Everyone seems to always want to order the jalapeño pretzels but it's not a fav. Basically bread with not so much taste and small bowl of cheese. It may be your thing, but not my first pick. Maybe if they'd spiced it up a bit. Jasmine is a manager there and is super friendly! I've met her a few times that I have been there and she always has a smile on her face and really cares. When friends are in town to hang out. We come here. Yes, it's in the Short Pump Mall, but this mall has a good restaurant vibe. We keep coming.

So for a chain that brews its own its good and selection changes every once in a while! I like the fact their brewmaster is a lady... Maybe there is hope for one of my daughters :) Food is good quality and decent variety. I have been pleased with all the aspects of this place. I recommend it for March madness. Sit at the bar

Slow service. Less than mediocre food. Lacked flavor. Mediocre beer and even worse cocktails. Nice ambience. Wouldn't really go again. There are many better places to dine at within Short Pump.

The Summer Honey brew served in a very tall glass set me free today! In addition having Lauren F. as my server well trust me it was my lucky day! She is awesome, friendly and attentive. The food hit the spot but I only had a burger and fries so you can't really mess that up. Managers were checking on customers and that's a good sign in my book. Great day to sit on their outdoor deck!

We decided to try Rock Bottom since they just opened in Short Pump. We had been before a few years ago in Charlotte, NC and we enjoyed our food the last time. They just opened recently in Short Pump so we were expecting they may still be working out the kinks. Originally we wanted to go for happy hour and have dinner. Once seated, we were told by our waitress that to get the happy hour specials, we had to sit in a certain part of the restaurant, I hope this policy changes in the future, or I hope they mention that prior to seating guests. We decided to try their beer flight ($6). It is 5 set beers plus once speciality beer. The beer flight was a good deal and a nice introduction to the craft beers they offer. For appetizers we ordered the ahi tuna and the calamari and pepper rings. They were both great, I loved the breading on the calamari it wasn't over breaded. I also liked the jalapeño ranch which wasn't very spicy! For our main entrees we had the grilled bruschetta chicken and the laredo burger. My boyfriend felt the chicken portion was a little small for a main entree however the taste was good. I enjoyed my laredo burger and I thought the guacamole was great! Overall, we had a great experience and we will definitely be going back again!

Nice selection of southwestern/spicy dishes. We had the fish tacos and the bruschetta chicken. The chicken was delicious, however the broccoli was little weird. Fish tacos were very well prepared and the soft/nacho shells were the highlight. A little skimpy on the fish, though. Obviously the beer was excellent. Highly recommend any of the specialty beers. Service was ho-hum.

Visiting again. Sat at the bar - not the best service again. Outside seems to be better. Solid menu and food is well prepared. The bar is a little dysfunctional later in the evening. There are better places to eat in Richmond..

I went for the soft open on Friday night, and was pleasantly surprised. The location is great (sit outside!) and the decor is warm and inviting with walls that open up between the indoor and outdoor seating. We got a complimentary sampler of their six microbrews and each of us found at least two that we really enjoy. My personal faves being the white ale and the coffee stout, both smooth and drinkable (even the stout!). Fish and chips were great, not too greasy, and the fish flaked clean and easily. This isn't the healthiest place, but you could find some options to suit you if you're more health conscious. The ahi tuna salad looked tasty from afar. Overall, good experience. Don't go if you've got somewhere to be after, and be patient with the waitstaff!

Always a great spot for an easy Happy hour or lunch. The scene is energetic but never overwhelming. The beer is actually the least interesting aspect of the place. All of their house beer is good, but for some reason I always think of the "other" brand I like just a little bit more. But hey, I'll drink it and I'll like it :)

Training night before the official opening. Everything is looking good so far! I can't wait to check out the full menu. The beer sampler is definitely the way to go! Update: We were greeted at the door from a bubbly woman representing Feed More who told us what we paid for our complimentary dinner was going towards the organization and directed us to the hostess stand. The restaurant seemed to have all of its employees working the warm opening and being active in the training process. I'm happy to see a company working so hard to get their staff trained properly. With that being said, our server, Rachel, didn't seem to know what was going on. Rachel never explained how the night was working, and even admitted when offering us a rewards card that she didn't know how they worked because the explanation she received went over her head. I was seriously willing to overlook service errors for training purposes. Seriously. That was until she brought us a check for our meal. Over $60. When I asked about the check (we were expecting to only pay for our beers + a contribution to Feed More + a tip) we were told that she had to bring us out the full check as part of their training, but failed to mention that we only owed $4. She then had to go print out a new check and cancel the rewards on our first rewards card that reflected the higher bill and bring out a new one reflecting what we actually spent. I don't know if Rachel is to blame, or if someone had directed her to try to collect full payment (the table next to us had the same problem), but I will be making sure to check my bill carefully when I return. There was also not an option to donate to Feed More on the check - I'm not sure how we were suppose to do that as it wasn't explained. I'm sure they could have raised more money for their organization if the staff was more communicative. On another note, the beer was good. They only had 7 options available, as opposed to the full 13 available on the menu (again, that wasn't mentioned until half way through our dinner and I tried to order something that wasn't available). They make their beer on site, and although the server was unable to describe them too well, the manager was walking around discussing them with each table. He definitely knew his stuff. The beer master makes different flavors seasonally, and seems to have a lot of recipes up her sleeve. My favorite was the Red Ale, and my boyfriend loved the Nut Brown. The food was good. We selected off a limited menu, with different limited menus sent throughout the restaurant. We had a lot of entree envy as we watched the ribs and mac and cheese pass by our table, but not available on our menu. Definitely an incentive to return. I ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes, beer gravy and vegetables. I'm not sure the exact entree name, but it was delicious. My date enjoyed the Chicken Fried Chicken. Both were good - I bet the ribs and mac and cheese we saw passing us by were good, too. In short, the food and drinks were good, but the service left a lot to be desired. Because this was a training night, I am not reflecting my service issues in my star rating - but felt I had to mention it just in case it comes up again. I'm excited to see this restaurant have some success in the West End, as I don't think there's anything comparable nearby.

The food and beer are great...but my problem is that for some reason or another.... this place comes off as a chain. Which, I mean, it is; I just wasn't really 100% feeling it, plus its location inside of the mall is weird and makes it close earlier than I care to stop drinking sometimes. Gorgeous bathrooms.

I came here for the second time last night. For a Tuesday night it was very busy - a 45 minute wait for a table of 3, but we were able to grab a booth in the bar area as one opened up as soon as we got there. The food was very good- I ordered the buffalo wings (extra crispy) and they came out with both ranch and blue cheese, which was a nice touch. The wings are under the appetizer section and are listed as 1 pound of wings, I believe I got about 10 or so. The wings were a little salty, but I was warned about that by the waiter beforehand, but I didn't mind it; they tasted good. For dessert, our table split the salted caramel mason jar. It was absolutely delicious! You must save room for this dessert if you come here. It tasted like a mix of cheesecake and caramel and I don't know what else, but it was heaven. We didn't order any drinks here this time, but the first time I came here I ordered the Pumpkin Monster Mash beer and that was very tasty. They have a pretty large selection of beers that they personally brew and have other local selections as well. I would have given this place 4 stars, but towards the end of the meal (during dessert) my girlfriend started smelling a bad scent of dirty dish towels and the smell made her feel sick to her stomach. Maybe it was just where we were sitting, I didn't smell it, but who knows. I would and probably will come back here to eat!

Unique & delicious appetizers - cheeeck. Juicy perfectly cooked burgers - cheeeck. Perfectly portioned & adorable mason jar desserts - cheeeck. I must admit that walking into this place I was a bit hangry (hungry + angry). It was right before Christmas, there was no parking whatsoever nearby (it's located on the second floor of the Short Pump Mall), all I had eaten that day was a handful of chia seeds (trying to make up for holiday indulgences). With all of that said I came out of Rock Bottom full, happy and more than satisfied. We ordered two appetizers: Habanero Shrimp and Jalapeño Pretzel Sticks. I preferred the shrimp over the pretzel sticks, but both were delightful. The pretzel sticks were warm and soft and the shrimp had a perfect blend of habanero and something sweet. Next, my husband ordered the BBQ Brisket Stuffed Burger. It was a handsome burger, nicely presented. When I took a bite I enjoyed the mix of flavors between the BBQ brisket and smoked gouda. However, the brisket was on the dry side. I decided to stick with appetizers and ordered the Asiago Artichoke & Crab Dip and Calamari & Pepper Rings. The Artichoke & Crab Dip was decent, nothing really special. But I quite enjoyed the Calamari & Pepper Rings (being a huge fan of jalapeños). The calamari was fried to golden perfection and the jalapeño rings really brought a fun kick to the appetizer. We finished everything off with a Raspberry & Chocolate Mousse Mason Jar Dessert. It had little bits of brownie and raspberry sauce swirled together in a mason jar. It was topped with a decadent chocolate mousee that pushed me over the edge. Overall, very delicious and we'll be repeat customers.

The food was very good! The onion rings were worth the up charge. They had an excellent assortment of good beers. The price of the sampler is pretty decent 6 samples for $6. The atmosphere was fun. The service was attentive and chatty. We will be back!

A new restaurant in the Glen Allen/Short Pump area. The establishment is designed alright, the only flaw is the high ceilings that cause a fair amount of echoing. Foods to try include the brewery platter, calamari and tillamook burger. The six drink sampler is a must for those of age. Service was moderately ok, not the greatest but not that bad. UPDATE: The smoking jalapeno burger is another good burger option as well as the bbq pulled pork sandwich. The beer sampler has changed a bit and the quality of some of the beers have fluctuated as has the quality of the brewery platter. The tillamook is no longer an option apparently. The service is, once again, only moderate.

Yesterday, while shopping at the Mall I made the best choice ever to try this place. The service was to point and the food well it was amazing from the appetizer to the desert. I had the Habanero Shrimp appetizer which has a the perfect sweet and spicy combination. The Lobster and Shrimp Enchiladas were to die for. And for a perfect ending the desert. The service was impeccable, the Beer choices amazing and the food extraordinarily delicious. I cannot wait to eat here again. *Though there was a mistake on our order that caused a long delay, the way it addressed by the Manager made it seem as though it never happened and it will not affect my decision to go back again. Kudos to The Rock Bottom Staff!!!

Great service and burgers. We did have a issue with under cooked chicken but they were very apologetic and quickly got us something else....shot out to Brent the manager for being so helpful with great customer service, and our waiter. This was my first trip to rock bottom brewery and it won't be the last. I had the brewmasters chicken with seasonal veg and mashed potatoes. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The potatoes were fresh and the mushroom gravy had a lot of flavor. The veggies were a squash medley, over salted and a little disappointing compared to the rest of the meal. The shoestring onions were incredible, and I was wishing I had a whole plate of them. I also had the vodka Arnold Palmer and it was yummy. Not too sweet with a good kick to it. The service was good. Everyone was friendly and our waiter was very knowledgable about all of the food and the beer. He even brought us samples of beer he thought we might like. Hubby got the white ale and it was very good. (Hints of citrus and spice) There are many house brewed beers to choose from along with beer on tap. They have house made root beer! And I will be trying that next time. Overall, a good experience worth repeating.

Enjoyed first time here, menu not overwhelming, has unique offerings from other beer themed places. Try the jalapeño bread sticks for sure. Beers were good, fairly standard types with a couple flavored options, particularly a banana nut bread one. Service was attentive and food came out quickly.

I came to Rock Bottom on Father's Day, and was pleasantly surprised how well they turned the food court area into a fully operating restaurant. The hostess was pleasant as she answered all of my questions on the variates of beer they had on tap. Decor The huge tanks next to the restroom were a nice touch to the overall atmosphere as I have never experienced a brewery/restaurant hybrid prior to this visit. The seats were spacious, and accommodating to my group of 3. A Service The service was lacking as it took 20 minutes to receive our first drinks. It was only compounded by never receiving another refill or having to take another hour for our main dishes to be served to us. F Food The food was very disappointing as my steak was not only late, but REALLY tough. I wasn't even given a steak knife for my meal and had to wait another 5 minutes to be handed one. The sides were mashed potatoes and french fries that tasted like it just came from the frozen aisle of Walmart. F Overall would not come back anytime soon.

The pretzel cheese sticks are a delightfully naughty treat! I really enjoyed the grilled chicken Waldorf salad but would ask for the cheese and dressing on the side because they were a little overwhelming. I'm not really a beer drinker but those that were at the table seemed to enjoy the beers. It was brunch so I ordered a Bloody Mary; there's an option to make your own as well so my advice is make your own. Overall it was a good experience - I would go back to watch a game and grab a bite!

I went to Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery for lunch. We were kindly greeted after entering the restaurant. For starters, we ordered the jalapeno spinach cheese dip and a classic wedge salad. The spinach dip was creamy and not overpowered by jalapeno (delicious). I really enjoyed the wedge salad as well. The salad was fresh and prepared well. All of the ingredients blended well together. I had a hard time deciding on a main dish. Finally, I chose the ribs and grilled chicken entree. Most entrees come with two sides. I went with French fries and apple Cole slaw. I thought the ribs, grilled chicken, fries, and apple Cole slaw was tasty. Our waitress was attentive. Service at the bar is usually hit or miss. Rock Bottom has a nice ambience. It's a good place to watch sports as well. There are multiple televisions and a projector screen. Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery is a great addition to Short Pump Town Center.

Food was excellent! There were four in our party, each ordering vastly different items. Very picky husband stated he had the best club sandwich of his life and can't wait to go back. I had the smokin jalapeño burger. I walked away saying the same as my husband. It was the best burger I have ever had. We live out of town and were visiting our daughter for her birthday. We were all so glad we chose to try some place new to us. Looking forward to our next visit to our daughter's so that we can go to Rock Bottom again!

I have eaten here many many times. The resturant can be lively (a little loud) and there tends to be a wait around dinnertime on Fridays/Saturdays. However, the wait-list beeper works about until the Crate & Barrel, so I can shop while I wait. The beer is good. I always order the nachos, which have never disappointed me. My husband loves the club sandwich (though he's very quick to remind every single server that he's not a member). It's in a convenient location and the food is good.

Great location and decor, but the service was horrible. Beer was generic and nothing to write home about, except for the 615 pale ale (very hoppy for a pale ale). Burger was too dry and didn't finish, chicken fingers were good but portions were way too small.

I had my birthday dinner here on a Sunday night with a party of ten. The food was excellent, the server (Phil) was very attentive. We did wait about 20 minutes for an appetizer, but the manager comped it and apologized for the long wait. The atmosphere is great and we didn't struggle to hear each other at our table. The beer is excellent. We also ended up staying until closing to enjoy coffee. It was a wonderful birthday and experience. I highly recommend it!

My wife and I spent this past weekend in Richmond and after a company Christmas party on Friday, we decided to end the night by trying Rock Bottom. We sat at the bar and were immediately helped by bartender Zack. He was attentive, very knowledgeable about the variety of beers, offered his opinions about appetizers,(great advice on the jalapeño sticks), and has a great personality. On Saturday evening we loved the service by Zack so much that we decided to stop in for a quick beer again. What a disappointment to arrive and find out that Zack was off that evening. It was like night and day. We couldn't get anyone to focus long enough to answer questions, one bartender was busy arguing with a waitress and one gave us his best answer as "I don't know". We ended up ordering one beer and leaving. 5 stars for Zack, 1 star for the others.

My wife, son and I had dinner at Rock Bottom on Saturday night. The place was definitely not busy. I ordered the fish and chips to split with my wife and my son ordered a jalapeño burger medium. The fish and chips was four fish sticks that reminded me of Mrs. Paul's and the burger was like a hockey puck. They remade the burger, with 3 small pieces of jalapeño and offered a desert to make up for the burger. Hard to get refills of drinks, great jalapeño pretzel stick app, but definitely not worth the $54 I paid. I will stick with the apps and deserts, avoid the entrees and bring a canteen of water, you will need it.

Got there at the height of the rush and got quoted a reasonable 35 min time but ended up getting seats at the bar. The tender was OK but in the end did his job without much personality. The nachos are great and the beer is still very good. If you go there more than one or twice, do yourself a favor and get the rewards card. Our bill was 15$ off.

2nd time visiting - and the kitchen was challenged! We went to lunch Saturday at 1:30 ( after the rush) but clearly the kitchen was backed up. Our crab dip took 25 mins and was still runny and then our entrees came out and they were cold. The saving grace? Dale the mgr on duty. He knew how to handle the issue, promptly adjusted our bill and owned it. We will be back to give the restaurant another try ...100% due to the professional customer service from the waitress and manager. Hope your kitchen folks catch up!!

We were super excited about this restaurant because of its location. We have been many times and unfortunately, it hasn't lived up to our hopes. The beer is fine, the atmosphere and outdoor area is awesome but the food has been average at best. The Nachos are good but everything else we tried has been so so. The service in the outdoor area is atrocious and although they have improved since the opening the service is still lacking, especially outside. We don't hate it but we do think BJs does a much better job with the food and drinks.

The patio is comfortable and I think you can get a tour of the beer making. Their appetizers can feed a couple of people. The service for the new business is doing very well a few weeks into operation. I still haven't tried the beer here, but my wife tells me the IPA she had was very good. The screens make watching the world cup very fun and the large rollup doors have screens, keeping the bugs out from the dining room. I forgot I was in the mall several times. Get the Nachos. It comes out on a very large board. Every chip had toppings on them and we didn't leave hungry having eaten the nachos for lunch.

  • Dawn O.

Good, friendly service. If, like me, you sit outside any chance you get, you will enjoy the nice patio. The beer flight is a good value. I can't speak to the more expensive menu options but the nachos were some of the best I have ever had.

Tonight is my fifth or sixth time to Rock Bottom Brewery. I already noticed the fact that the brew master was a young woman and was always working. The bartender's unanimously said she was awesome to work with and certainly the beer she brew's is outstanding. As she walked by our table we struck up a conversation - we were entirely impressed by her professionalism and commitment to her craft and those she serves. We left inspired and anxious to return and try more of her craft beer creations. If you are a beer lover, you must try Rock Bottom Brewery - ask for Becky!

My husband and I loved Rock Bottom in Nashville and decided to give the new one in Richmond a try. We had the worst experience possible. We were seated at our table and sat for roughly five minutes waiting to be greeted by our server. Nothing. Nobody. I decided to start my timer to see how much longer we went unnoticed. 4 and a half additional minutes later the table next to us was seated and promptly greeted. The server STILL did not acknowledge us. So we got up and left after almost 10 minutes if sitting there without so much as a "hello" from the server. We will not be back.
