Sushi Sandwich: is it a sushi-like sandwich? Yes! Is it delectable veg fare? Oh yes! Is it one of the best sandwiches I've had bar-none in a long while? Well, now that I am asked, yes indeed! Fine shaved carrot, avocado and seaweed in a scrumptious house-made pita, with side soy sauce drizzled atop, to gather later in said pita pocket. Just excellent. Very courteous service as well. Way relaxed vibe. I'm a Fresca fan.

Get the broccolini sandwich with a side of brussels sprouts and be full and happy. This place is a great little local vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Pizzas, sandwiches and other surprisingly filling items make up most of the menu. Service can be a little slow so plan accordingly when there for a weekday lunch or some such thing.

Vegetarian heaven!! Great choice of entrees... Everything taste so fresh and yummy. Interestingly, they offer dishes that kinda reflect different cuisines - American, Italian, Thai, Indian... We had the Veg Panini, Curried Vegetables, Pesto Pizza, and Tacos.

Great food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Everything can be made vegan and it's a nice atmosphere in here. Make sure to stop in vegetarians!

For the vegetarian crowd (and for those just interested in a meat-free meal), Fresca is a great option. The menu is mostly salads, sandwiches and pizzas, with some options offering soy-based meat alternatives. Everything is kicked up a notch with their homemade, brick oven pita bread. My favorite dish, by far, is the lentil burger. Others can be too light on flavor to make for a substantial meal.

I went here on a lunch date with a friend and got the vegan potato and onion pizza. She got BBQ seitan wrap sandwich. Both were delicious. Everything on the menu is vegetarian and can be made vegan (WOW!) and there is a lot to choose from - I personally had trouble picking, so clearly I have to come back to try something different sometime in the future, although I wouldn't mind getting that pizza again.

Fresca is an awesome addition to the Richmond restaurant family, because everything you eat here, you feel good about and it's all quality, fresh and creatively prepared. I got the Seitan BBQ sandwich in their to-die-for made-to-order wheat pita pocket and a side of the brussels sprouts, which were well-cooked. Everything here is Vegan/Vegetarian, in order to prove that you can still pop with flavor and forgo the crutch of meat! The people are very kind and accomodating, and it's a great place to get a take-out sandwich and enjoy a nice picnic at Maymont (that's what I did!) The seitan and slaw both had good, crisp flavor and the portion was very reasonable for the price. The owners are a team with a passion and it really shows!

I'm the type of person to ALWAYS, and I really do mean ALWAYS have to have to have meat in my meals. This place though....this place has excellent vegan meat. I had the Greek pizza and my friends had the spicy sausage pita sandwich and that thing was BOMB. My friend just made a lifestyle change to vegan, so I was supporting her and eating here. It turned out to amazing. Highly recommend it for vegans and those open to change. Great variety and options to fit all taste buds

Without a doubt Fresca on Addision is one of the top vegetarian restaurants in Richmond City. I have never had a negative experience here, the service and food has always been extremely immaculate. The lentil burger is the best dish I have ordered but the broccolini sandwich isnt to far behind it! Nice outdoor patio and indoor seating. Music has always been very pleasant, and they even serve kombucha! Only down fall is I wish this place had extended hours since I usually working only when there open! 9-5... All in all this place will not let you down! PS: The vegan cupcakes are on point, make sure you buy a few of those also hahaa..

Excellent food, friendly staff and service, and a laid back atmosphere. This is my favorite lunch spot. It's hard to go wrong here, but the Greek pizza is my favorite. The salads are also fantastic, as is the vegetarian chili. To top it all off the staff is some of the friendliest you'll find.

I'm obsessed with the Greek Salad Sandwich! Obsessed. I cannot get enough of this vegetarian delight, and it has truly become my most-craved sandwich as of late. I don't know where they get the pita bread, but that whole wheat pita is pillowy soft and unlike any other pita I've had. Maybe it's because it's paired with lettuce, tomatoes, pepperoncinis, Greek dressing and feta, which sounds so simple, but comes together in a beautiful explosion of flavors. They also serve the pita slightly warm, which is just the perfect pairing with the crisp veggies. I had an errand to run in Carytown this afternoon around 3pm, and I purposefully didn't eat lunch so that I could pick up one of these beauties for an oddly timed meal. In fact, half of it is waiting for me in the fridge, and my tastebuds are super stoked to have it for dinner, too! I'm also a fan of their vegan pizzas with wheat crust, because even though I'm not vegan, I'm a sucker for vegan cheese. Weird, I know. I've tried the tacos, too, and they're pretty darn tasty. I've had the chorizo, seitan, and avocado and would recommend one of each (you can mix and match) to taste a variety of flavors. I couldn't tell you which was my favorite; I enjoyed all three. If you're in the mood for a delicious vegetarian meal, in a casual (order-at-the-counter), unpretentious setting, go here. And on that note, my sammie is calling my name...

BEST VEGAN CUPCAKES IN THE CITY OF RICHMOND! Oh, not to mention the homemade Pitas cooked in their stone hearth oven, their amazing hummus, and the fact that they have roasted Brussels sprouts and asparagus as a side for a little extra ($1.00). I love their lentil soup, their dessert pizza, their BBQ sandwich, and my go to is ALWAYS the Greek salad pita with a side of orzo! I wish they were open late at night! Ps. Nicest people on the planet!

My wife and I ate the lentil burger. Had different sides and both were excellent. Will definitely return.

Fresca is my go to lunch place when I am in Richmond. My all time favorite is the lentil burger. Nowhere else I have ever been has made a lentil burger that even comes close to the the flavor and texture of this one. The best part about eating here is that you don't feel heavy and weighed down after you finish.

I'm not a vegetarian, so I am NOT this place's target audience. If you are a meat eater, you may find that the menu selections aren't all that appetizing for you. I was searching for the least objectionable choice (probably much like vegetarians do at non-vegetarian spots). I ordered the veggie plate. Although nicely presented, it looked a bit sparse. It was actually quite filling. Everything was also very fresh. They have brick oven and make their own pita bread there so I was expecting something special. It wasn't. It wasn't "bad" just not what you'd expect from fresh baked in a brick oven. The atmosphere looks like they were going for a shabby chic ambiance, but it doesn't really live up to that. It's very casual and has a dressed down feel. Service is friendly, self-service, and on the slow side. Fresca isn't bad. It's just not my cup of tea. I think there are lots of people who will find it hits the spot for them. I prefer a bit more in the service and ambiance department; however, the food is fresh, pretty, and tasty.

Cute Vegetarian cafe. The portions are perfect and the ingredients are fresh. Nice breakfast or brunch spot for vegetarians or FOVs (friends of vegetarians). My "sausage" with peppers and onion pita was just ok - the dijon mustard was way too salty and there was simply too much of it. My side of potato salad had great flavor but again, a bit on the salty side and the potatoes could have been cooked for just a few more minutes. Despite my lackluster experience, I'd return to try other menu items.

Great little place. Had the tacos and love the fact that you can mix and match. Very pleased with this place. Will come back when in town.

A great vegan / veggie lunch spot - its quick, delicious & close to downtown corporate offices. Took me forever to decide what to order... there were so many options and they all looked delicious - seriously, I wanted to sample everything... Really great veggie / vegan spot - very fresh and delicious options offered - Think even the carnivores would be satisfied. Offer coffee, beer and wine available as well. Check them out.

If you are a vegetarian, you should go. If you are not a vegetarian, you should go. If you're a raging tiger-like carnivore you should go. It's delicious. Every single last thing on this menu is delicious. Their pitas are made fresh and are warm and fluffy unlike the stale nonsense you buy at the grocery store. The sides are delicious and my favorite is the apple/fennel slaw. Holy hell. I have gotten the greek salad pita, the broccolini with white bean spread. Amazing. My little brother got the BBQ plate when he visited and he loved it. It is all made right on site and you can watch it being made while you wait. Tip: DO NOT DISCOUNT THE GLUTEN FREE/VEGAN DESSERTS! I almost did and I really would have missed one of the most delicious chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. No need for all that. As the other reviews state - yes you have to seat yourself, get your own silverware, put your stuff away, etc but let's be real folks - you have to do the same thing at Panera or Chipotle so if that takes away from your dining experience, this may not be a good fit for you.

Oh my! Fresca is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in town. The staff is always friendly and helpful to everyone who walks in. The food, ALWAYS good. I have tried almost everything: salads, soups, sides, entrees, sandwiches, desserts, specials, tacos, and other things they may offer. They have always been good. Even on days when perhaps they have had a particularly busy day, the food is always fresh and delicious. I honestly couldn't tell you my favorite dish, but I tend to order one of their sandwiches and a side. However, their pita is the best in town, and reminds me of what I found in Beit Sahour, Bethlehem. When you eat in, you do have to clean up after yourself, but I don't mind. The staff is attentive to their customers, even during peak hours of service. Keep on chugging along, Fresca! I will always be willing to come here for a wonderful lunch.

Fresca is a small, cozy, yummy restaurant that is ready to serve up yummy veg-head friendly food. The location is small, so not great for large parties. There is a small patio with outside seating. Their menu has sandwiches, pizzas and entrees. It is made to order so you will have to wait a little bit for your food. But it is worth the wait. Vegetarians, carnivores and vegans will delight in their selection. It's simple, good food, made from real ingredients. You'll leave feeling full and satisfied. I highly recommend their hummus with veggies and pita (made in house!) The hummus is very garlicky but I love that. I also have had the pear and arugula sandwich more then once and I love it! They have a great selection of sides, I have had the apple/fennel salad, brussels sprouts and potato salad! I LOVED the brussels sprouts. Yummy, roasted and crisp on the edges. My one warning is their store door. It is a heavy door the swings closed quickly. I got my heel caught and it hurt. A lot. Especially with the little ones- beware! Overall- really great little spot for sandwiches, pizza and more! The real ingredients and pleasant staff make this place worth a visit.

This is one of those little secrets of the Fan. The workers are friendly and knowledgeable and the food is fresh and outstanding. I have been going for a while and have tried most of the menu. The broccolini pita and the faux pulled pork are some of my favorites. The pizzas are also very good, with huge sizes for the price. There is seating outside for when the weather is nice, too. Even if you are not a vegetarian, be sure to try this gem, and get the apple/fennel salad for your side; you won't regret it!

This place can do no wrong. Nestled in a quaint location deep in Richmond's downtown district you'll find a simple, yet elegant little eatery. The first thing you'll notice is the smell of real, fresh food cooking. The staff is beyond friendly and the food ... I would give just about anything to have this made for me at home. They don't serve meat but there is absolutely no need. The vegetables are cooked to perfection and the pizza is like no other! Do not pass by this place without trying anything on their menu. We loved our dinner so much, we got another order of different foods to go. Couldn't be happier to find this gem.

Simple. One word that sums up Fresca On Addison. Simply Good. This is a small, menu-on-wall, order-at-the-counter lunch establishment. No messing around, Fresca On Addison advertises 6:00pm closing hours on weeknights - accentuating their target demographic. Think Panera for Vegetarians. The menu is balanced - pastries, sides, sandwiches, pizza, soups, dessert - all Vegetarian. After placing an order for vegetarian (vegan cheese available) pizzas with our very patient and kind 'barista', we turned around to grab some small water glasses, utensils, napkins and snagged one of the 4-5 tables inside the restaurant - all of which are close enough to the door to be slightly uncomfortable on a cold day. However, there is a nice looking patio outside and its location at Cary and Addison undoubtedly serves many walk-up customers throughout the week. The freshness of both of our pies were noticeable. The stone oven crisped wheat crust was delicious. I would expect a bit more crunch from a stone oven and a little less blackening, but overall the hearty flavors were there. The roasted cauliflower and broccoli pizza with creamy mozzarella was adorned with 1/4" sized, perfectly salted, veggies - a very fresh, light, simple slice. On the other hand, the "chorizo", roasted garlic, and red pepper pizza had a wonderful punch of spicy flavor from the mock meat while large chunks of fresh garlic and hidden morsels of roasted red pepper were found throughout. Overall these were quite appetizing and quite simple personal sized pizzas. All-in-all, Fresca is serving up some great, healthy, light, and flavorful cuisine. It won't have you jumping out of your chair (unless someone opens the door on a 36 degree evening) but they definitely know what they are doing. This feels like a warm, community-driven, family establishment - complete with a kind "Hello" and "Goodbye" from the staff. Fresca On Addision is a lunch spot worthy of every Richmonder's weekly rotation - vegetarian, vegan, and carnivores alike. Expect simple, flavorful fare to help you get through your day and light enough to not slow you down.

I tried this place for the first time today and it was amazing! They are only from 11-4 so I have to catch them on my days off but its worth it. The pizza was amazing, everything is vegetarian or can be made vegan, and everyone is very friendly there. Found my new favorite lunch spot. :)

Great lunch spot! I couldn't decide between the sushi pita and Greek pita so I had a half and half and I loved them both! I will say the sushi pita slightly won the contest but both were great. My daughter had a whole sushi pita and she liked it too. We both had a quinoa side that was very interesting and good. Wish I lived closer to this place, I would be here every day!

I loooooove Fresca! Everything there is so good, and they are some of the nicest people you'll meet (I know, they are working there and have to treat the customers right, but they're genuinely cool folks). Everything from sandwiches to tacos and salads and incredible sweets! I just wish they were open more days and longer hours.

I wanted something "light" for lunch and chose to embark on Fresca. Every time I head over to Lamplighter Roaster this place always caught my attention. So today was its lucky day! The board menu is located on the north side wall. I don't have the patients to glance at everything so I always ask the people who work the counter for their recommendations. The kind lady behind the prep line heard my indecisiveness on which to order. She recommended the Veggie Plate - it's light but you won't feel overstuffed, as I said "OK!! I'll take that..." the young women behind the cash register shouted out, "How about a Tomato Pita Sandwich?!" then said "I'll take that instead!!" See what I mean by indecisive? So I wait and was starving! I beat the lunch crowd and placed myself near the window overlooking Cary St... Food came and the first bite was HEAVEN!!! The Pineapple Cole Slaw was a refreshing side dish that complemented the summer aroma of the Tomatoe Pita Sandwich. I was so full, but not overstuffed by the time I took the last bite but I couldn't stop. :) I'd love to try their other dishes. SOOON!

In the month since I moved to Richmond, I've been here three times and LOVE everything they do. Even though I'm a carnivore, I enjoy the fresh mostly raw dishes. Today I had the three-taco plate (spicy vegan chorizo, seitan asada, and white bean/avocado) and w side garlicky-kale salad & beautifully sliced carrots. The perfect fresh Saturday lunch. See you again soon Fresca!

Yay! What great gluten-free and vegan options! I was very skeptical of a vegan pizza, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely go back and try just vegetarian. No matter which way you slice it, nothing compares to real cheese (sorry Veganites). Definitely recommend!

  • Tara R.

A little pricey for lunch but worth the money! The sushi wrap is one of my favorite items on their menu. The ginger and wasabi are the perfect flavor together and the bread is so fresh. They really strive to be healthy and clean and you can feel it the moment you walk into this place. It's truly delicious. The staff is really friendly too. Their recommendations have never turned out poorly and their sides are really delicious. Definitely give this place a try!

Decent vegan pizza, could make a better one at home with Pizza Tonight dough and Daiya cheese. Vegan BBQ sand which was fine too, nothing too special. Also a bit pricey for what you get, but you pay for vegan convenience I suppose.

Speaking as a life long veg boy, this place holds few equals. Lentil burger ended any contest. The bread alone works you over. In a good way. Egg salad is tremendous. As a portlander/eugenic I know good veg food, and this is easily on par if not better. Kudos!

I loved Fresca's atmosphere. I sat outside with a friend and definitely enjoyed our food. I did get the BBQ sandwich which was good. It was more on the sweeter side than anticipated. Yet, I will definitely come back and try the pizza which looks delicious!

It's possible that I'm biased because I'm not vegetarian, but that doesn't mean I don't know a good thing. This isn't that. Both things that I tried last night were a disappointment, and the prices were even more disappointing. The service is very friendly, but the seat yourself, get your own silverware, clean up your table, clean your plates in the trash, sort the dirty dish aspect of the place doesn't justify the high food prices. (Neither does the food). My sushi wrap had the flavors I was expecting EXCEPT no rice??? I highly anticipated some room temperature rice to really bind this whole thing together but instead it was just vegetables. Average flavor, but man was I bored after just a few bites. The accompanying potato salad wasn't cooked so each bite had a starchy crunch. To make it worse, the sauce was nearly vacant so it tasted mostly of raw potatoes. As I ate, the 3 orders served around me were incorrect. Each person looking noticeably disappointed that they had to get all their own utensils and sauces, and each looking upset that their orders came out wrong one after another. Chalk it up to a bad night maybe, but for a place that's been open this long I likely won't return.

The food and service are fantastic. Carnivores will love it, but it's also the best vegetarian food in town.

The pizzas have some unique choices and are so delicious. If you are craving vegetarian food Fresca is a great place to go because the flavors are bold and the choices different from typical vegetarian fare. It is a small establishment, and I have seen it pretty busy, so I make it a point to go late-ish at lunch. The side dishes change up from time to time which also helps keep it fresh and exciting.

Another great veggie place in RVA. The roasted broccolini pita is probably my favorite so far and their brussels sprouts are scrumptious. A little pricey in terms of portion size, but I imagine the healthier ingredients outweigh the cost.

RAMPS! RAMPS ON A PIZZA! PIZZA WITH RAMPS! Yessssss. We are pleased with this offering. The pizza was pleasantly crisp, and delicately flavored. I do favor this kind of thin crust pizza, so I'm particularly vulnerable to what they're serving here. But the freshly vegan significant other seemed positively delighted to be here, and had a lovely pita with some rock-solid hummus. Service was kind and polite, and dealt well with my bewildered exhaustion.

As a dedicated omnivore, I'm happy to say that this place was lovely. I had the brie [real cheese, in case there is some confusion- not everything here is vegan] and pear panini with arugula and the orzo side and quite enjoyed both. I haven't gotten up the nerve to try the faux meat dishes yet, but shall likely do so on my next visit, since the one at the next table over smelled quite tasty.

This place is excellent to balance out a meat lover's diet. We all know benefits of veggies and most of us still don't eat enough. This place makes it easy to get the nutrition fix beneficial to all. Food is fresh, well balanced (I do love garlic!), surprisingly satisfying to my carnivore pallet. Absolutely perfect on hot days. My favorite is the broccoli pita with white bean spread. The pitta is soft, flavors are beautifully blended and the meal is filling (fiber & protein). Thank you. I'll try to eat as much as I can here before moving away.

Relaxed, straightforward, fresh and delicious! Most items can be made vegan. We had different items and all were really flavorful and great! Hummous had nice garlic taste and best pita in area (white or wheat). They have a few specials but all the regular dishes are so good, why stray? Water and condiments are on the side for you to help yourself . Very local , very good! Recommend.

We ordered take out from here en route from Florida to New York. It's not too far off of 95, so it didn't take too much time out of our journey. After reading the reviews on here, we ordered a lentil burger and a broccolini sandwich. When my husband went inside to pick up the order, the server suggested that since I'm vegan, I might want to try their vegan cupcakes. So we got a chocolate cupcake and a pumpkin cupcake. The lentil burger was outstanding, it was my particular favorite. The broccolini sandwich was excellent also. The cupcakes were to die for- you'd never know they were vegan. What a great place! I will make sure we stop here again next time we travel through from NY to Florida! Can't wait!

Heads up people Richmond is hip now. Had a great lunch here. I ordered the BBQ seitan pita. I thought it was great - as someone who ate a lot of pork BBQ before I phased meat out, it was just as good as the "real" thing, albeit a slightly different consistency. It also filled me up and left me feeling fully sated, which often doesn't happen with vegetarian sandwiches or substitute meat dishes. For lunch, it was pretty darn cheap for the quality we got. The place is fairly small, and almost every seat at a table was taken up when we went there on Saturday around noon. However, there were seats at the counter along the wall so we sat there comfortably and ate. The staff was friendly and hustling in the kitchen without letting it affect their customer service.

This is by far my favorite place to chomp on a good vegetarian meal! I once took one of my most carnivorous friends here and he ordered the chorizo, pepper and onion pita (not knowing it was vegetarian chorizo). He LOVED it and had no clue it was not real chorizo until I told him after our meal! My two favorite items I've gotten here are the kale and pinenut pizza (so freaking good!) and the egg salad pita. They also have really great vegan cupcakes that don't make you miss the real thing! Definitely recommend for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike!

  • Shayla C.

OMG! I love this place SOOO much. It's the one place I miss in Richmond, VA and there's surprisingly nothing in NYC that is quite like it. My favorite is the broccolini sandwich w/ the white bean spread on the whole wheat pita. Coming in close second is the sushi sandwich (this sandwich is so unique and surprisingly taste just like sushi in a non-weird way). Their potato salad and cole slaw are also quite delicious on the side making it the perfect lunch (or dinner actually). I never had their pizza but my friend did and LOVED it. Everything is vegetarian and/or vegan and mostly healthy!!

  • Ruby M.

I always tell people this is the most underrated vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the city. Everything I've ordered has been on point- carefully prepared to specification, delicious, and artfully arranged. I recommend the sushi sandwich (don't bash it until you try it!), the pizzas, and the potato salad. Also any of the goodies around the cash register are usually locally made and haven't disappointed yet. I would give it five stars but it's a little pricey, which is probably a good thing since I would go here everyday on my lunch break if I could afford it. But going on deliciousness alone, definitely six stars.

All vegetarian food, most of it can be made vegan. Very healthy offerings and super tasty. I love all the little paintings that have been done on the walls of their character. The lighting was kind of dim when I went in but that was really my only complaint. They had four different wines and a small beer selection as well. Mostly sandwiches with some entrees, all prepared in easy view of the dining room. You go to the counter and order and they bring you your food. They have vegan and vegetarian desserts on the counter and some market-type foodstuffs you can buy to take home with you (like at 8 1/2) along the counterside where food is prepared. It looked like it was mostly sandwiches and pizza, which I wasn't interested in eating while I was there. I picked an entree, the curry. That was a really great curry! I'd definitely love to have that again. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Very relaxed, friendly and open.

I had a wonderful lunch here while passing through Richmond. I ordered the roasted garlic & broccolini with white bean spread pita sandwich along with apple and fennel salad on the side (I freakin' love fennel!). For dessert I had the amazing tapioca pudding made with fresh vanilla beans. Even if you don't like tapioca I would try this pudding, because there were not that many tapioca pearls in it. The pudding was pure thick, creamy, old-fashioned, vanilla goodness. Their ice tea was great too. They have free wi-fi and coffee, and the staff were super nice. It was also very clean. If I lived in the area I would probably stop by often to do work here or just chill out. My only gripes are: not enough fruit, no chocolate, and the lighting needs to be improved in the bathroom.

This place is decent, but on the pricy side. I enjoyed their curried butternut squash soup, but both my pizza (I got the kale with roasted peppers and pine nuts) and my boyfriend's curried vegetables were mediocre. The pizza was standard and the curry was lacking in flavor. Their dessert pizza, however, was delicious. We got the peanut butter, banana, and chocolate one and loved it! Since that dessert went well I decided to snag one of their Vegan cupcakes to save for later while we were checking out and we both thought that was great too! We got the ginger cupcake with lemon frosting, and if no one told us it was Vegan we wouldn't have ever guessed it. I'd be willing to give Fresca another shot, mostly to try out their other desserts ;)

Fresca is one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond! I have had everything on the menu and there isn't a single thing I don't like. I have definitely picked favorites like the pesto pizza on thick white crust and the vegan chicken salad sandwich! Not to mention their hummus is addicting. Also, I have several friends that are vegan and/or gluten free and Fresca has the most options by far for these people. Overall Fresca is an awesome place with awesome food and an awesome wait staff.

I finally made it to Fresca on Addison after getting a recommendation ages ago and professing I would go within the week. Oops. As I may have established in previous posts, I tend to prefer places with table service. And from driving by I was always under the impression that it was a table service style restaurant. Well, admittedly, there is a little table service - the girl who made my pizza brought it out to my table, as well as my iced tea. I did also put a tip in the jar before I sat down though, so not sure if that made a difference. When I walked in, I figured out it was counter service and menu boards, but I was a little unsure about the menu, I saw "chorizo" and "bacon and eggs" on pizzas and it didn't register for a minute that they were mock meats. When I confirmed this with the girl working, she said "Yep, no meat enters this premises." Cool, nice commitment. I ordered the "chorizo" pizza and an iced tea. I pay mostly in cash these days and am sporting a goatee, so I really have no issues with being correctly gendered in these brief interactions. In an athletic event or an emergency, I will still occasionally be misgendered because of my voice, but it's not really an issue in restaurants anymore. When I leave a credit card behind somewhere and have to go fetch it the next day, that can be a little awkward. She brought out my tea, and about 8 or 9 minutes later brought out the pizza. It was as delicious as it looks. See those big grains of salt? They were sparse and awesome. The mock chorizo tasted fine (keep in mind, I'm not a vegetarian). It was probably a 9 or 10 inch pizza and fairly thin, which I considered a good portion - I managed to finish it while I was there. Pizza is so much better fresh that I'd rather have a reasonable portion and not deal with leftovers. It was pretty quiet. I didn't use the restroom, so I can't comment on it.

Best vegetarian restaurant in richmond. The sushi sandwich is my favorite. Can you make another location next to my house?

One of my favorite things about living in Richmond is the multitude of rich and diverse options of vegetarian and vegan cuisine. You can barely throw a rock and not hit a vegetarian these days and it's nice to see so many chefs accommodating this lifestyle with some flare. As a vegetarian myself, Fresca on Addison has become one of my go-to restaurants lately. From their homemade pitas to their downright delectable kale salad and scrumptious illy coffee, it's hard not to fall in love - vegetarian or not. Their pitas and pizzas are made to order - even the dessert pizza, which I've heard amazing things about. They also offer a small assortment of grocery goods including beer, wine, pastas, and kombucha. If you haven't yet, make a plan to spend your next lunch break sitting on their umbrella shaded porch sipping an illy latte and feeding your body some serious goodness. I've yet to leave Fresca without feeling completely energized by the incredible freshness and nutrients their meals have to offer. As their tagline states, they want you to eat better, dammit!, and I think they're doing a great job at it.

This place never seems to disappoint. We've been many times before, but recently started going on Saturdays which is their half price pizza night and it's a phenomenal deal for great pizza. My boyfriend and I are both vegans and to date we've tried the vegan version of all of their pizzas except the four cheese pizza (for obvious reasons). All were delicious but our favorites were the pesto pizza (which isn't part of their permanent menu) and the one with "chorizo." I like the thin crust version but the thick crust version is far superior. I have yet to try the whole wheat version but I'm sure that's delicious too. The woman who owns the place is always super friendly and does a fantastic job. My only criticism about the place is that I wish they would change up their menu a little more or at least create different menu items on a regular basis that they run as specials. I know they sometimes do this, but it needs to be more consistent. All in all, this is a great place, I love it!

FYI...they only deliver between 11 AM and 2PM. Might be helpful if they list that info on their website...

I am a huge carnivore, and I love love LOVE this restaurant. Everything is so light and fresh and delicious. It is my goto-takeout when I'm feeling lethargic and bloated. I always get the spinach salad - what is in that dressing? It's totally unique and completely delicious. I also always get the pear tart, which I love but friends say is so-so. The Greek pizza is my favorite, but I have never - never! - had a bad dish here. On top of all this, they deliver by bike! I would give 5 stars if it were a little less expensive.

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm not a vegetarian, more like a Mark Bittman type of "flexitarian". I prefer eating vegetables, salads and lighter fare on a day-to-day basis. I can go without meat for extended periods of time (months). Anything more than strict moderation is religious. Vegetarianism and veganism are in fact religions. The truly enlightened should avoid any and all religions at all cost (one of the few things one should not do in moderation). I don't make it a point to avoid good food or to deny myself the cheap thrill of getting engrossed in a culinary culture. Enough of my entirely self-absorbed rant against vegetable religions. Fresca is a simple no-frills place. The menu is painted on the wall and encompasses salads, pizzas, wraps/sandwiches, soups, ratatouille, and curried veggies. They also serve beer, sodas, and tea. Order at the counter. The staff are friendly and patient and the waits are shorter than longer. Their salads are fresh and not the bagged variety. The arugula actually has the spicy kick it's supposed to have. The pita bread is baked in-house and the hummus is the real deal. Their coffee is incredible. The cappuccino with almond milk is a bit too sweet, so I'll cheat and have it standard with milk. In fact, if you can't handle the chaos at the famous coffee shop down the street, stop in at Fresca for a pleasant surprise.

Sitting on the toilet while writing this review... Ok I ate the greek salad pizza. It was tasty, but within an hour I was trapped as a slave to my porcelain god! The vegan girl that took my order was a little rude. I simply asked her which pizza should I choose, the egg pizza or the greek. She looked at me with disgust and said, "I am vegan." I told her I guess that I will have the Greek then... I think she poisoned me. I can't get off the toilet. If you value customer service and your anus, don't eat here. If you are looking for tasty vegetarian dishes ask for it served vegan. You might make her happy and she won't poison you.

This is one of my favorite spots for vegetarian/vegan food. The pizza is very well done. I am partial to the Greek Pizza, which is topped with all the ingredients usually found in a Greek Salad. Almost everything here is vegan optional, with a lot of glutton free options. On a side note, the last time I ate here I ran into Tim Kaine.

Fresca was excellent, with a reasonably extensive and reasonably priced vegetarian menu. My group ordered a pizza, the barbecue sandwich (the protein was seitan), and the broccolini sandwich with white bean paste). All were excellent, and all were happy. You order at a counter and they bring the food to you. If I were a vegetarian, this would be at the top of my list for a non-ethnic quick-ish meal. If you're just someone who likes food, it's well worth repeat visits.

This place has great individual size pizzas with creative vegan and vegetarian options. They home make their pita bread, and they seem to use the same excellent dough as the crust for their pizzas. Saturday evening after 5 pizzas are half off, a nice time to experiment with different varieties. I've had the chorizo pizza and kale pizza, both of which are very good. The sushi sandwich is also really tasty! Definitely a nice, small, local spot to try out.

After hearing so much buzz about this place, I was really excited to check it out. I felt like the meal I had was good, but not what I was expecting given the reputation this place already had. I got the Greek salad pizza (on whole wheat, yay!) and my boyfriend got the egg salad with potato salad, and the curried butternut squash soup with coconut. My pizza was okay. I'm surprised at reading so many comments about the crust being hard, because mine was quite soft. A little too clearly made on a pita for me. I felt like it lacked crunch. The spicy sauce, cheese and olives were good, but the thinly sliced lettuce was a little weird. It got a bit soggy on the pizza so I think it didn't quite add the dimension they were hoping for. I did like that the pizza felt light and not so terrible for me as a regular pie, though. My boyfriend loved his egg salad, but wasn't a fan of the potato salad. It tasted like it had spicy mustard in it, which wasn't his thing. Similarly, the soup had good flavor, but it was really, really thin. It tasted more like a sauce then a soup. In all, we felt like it was a good option to mix up our weeknight dinner routine, but not as stellar as we'd hoped for.

The wife and I stopped by Fresca last Saturday after a nice stroll down on the Canal Walk. Doing the New Years resolution thing and after some exercise, we figured something light was in order and I'd been meaning to stop by this place for some time. Neither my wife or myself are vegetarian, but we love food and certainly respect the lifestyle choices of others. My wife can be a little picky so I was happy when she quickly settled in on the "Chorizo" pizza with whole wheat, thin crust. Initially we thought we might share, but when I saw someone else's pie come out, I figured I should get something as well. I settled on the Fresca Cobb and we took our seats. The place was pretty full when we got there, apparently at the end of the lunch rush, so we sat for awhile. Not too long, but enough to notice... I assume we were in line for the pizza oven, as a few other pies came out before ours. It proved worth the wait. The faux chorizo had a nice spice to it, the sauce was right on and the crust was crisp, not burnt. The Fresca Cobb was a bit of a surprise. A bacon substitute was certainly to be expected, but it seemed to take a whole veggie tray to replace the customary chicken, as the bed of greens, hard-boiled eggs, tomato and avocado were also joined by broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers and carrots. A bit much and probably a stretch to call it Cobb, but for those looking for a filling entree salad, it fits the bill. On our way out, we couldn't resist a sweet snack after an otherwise healthy afternoon. The wife wanted a cookie and I couldn't resist a peanut-butter creme filled chocolate cupcake, both of which proved to be the perfect endings to a pleasant first visit to Fresca on Addison. -TM

It's so nice to have another healthy, delicious, vegan-friendly restaurant in the Richmond area!! My fiancé and I are both vegans, and we appreciate that nearly everything on the menu at Fresca can be made vegan. My meat-eating parents came along on one of our trips, and they both raved about their meals. We've made two trips to Fresca so far, and have tried the BBQ Seitan sandwich, the vegan chorizo pizza, the vegan kale pizza, and the veggie + hummus plate, all of which didn't even make it long enough to be leftovers. The atmosphere is casual and fun, with cute paintings and slogans on the walls and funky mismatched tables and chairs. There's also a good selection of snacks and baked goods at the counter (VEGAN CUPCAKES!) that you can take home or devour in the car.

Love the food I've had here. Some sandwiches to try: OMGarlic, Roasted Brocolini, BBQ Seitan. Take out is always pretty prompt, atmosphere is comfortable, and portions are decent. Only complaint is they tend to be out of some side items after their lunch rush, particularly the kale and brussel sprouts.

Just tried the NEW* Sausage with onions, peppers and Mozzarella on Pita - it was excellent!! The ingredients were fresh, tasty and the pita bread did not fall apart! Loved it!!!

I am all for more vegetarian and vegan dining options in Richmond, but I don't think Fresca really fits the bill. First, it's rather pricey for what they are serving! I ordered the spicy sausage sandwich (actually a pita pocket type deal), vegan, with a side of potato salad. The pita was sort of spongy in texture, and was room temperature - not warmed or toasted in any way. The sausage seemed like it was store-bought rather than homemade, it reminded me of pre-packaged veggie sausage. The vegan cheese also appeared to be store-bought; again, it reminded me of the stuff I've bought at the grocery store. The red peppers and onions were cut into weird, uneven pieces, some large and some small, and were unevenly cooked as a result. I could have easily made this same sandwich at home, using good store-bought pita, vegan cheese, and vegan sausage, but with evenly cooked vegetables, for a much lower amount of money. The potato salad was just okay. Red potatoes, vegan mayonnaise, and mustard, but not much else, aside from a small, straight black hair that I found near the middle of the portion. I have wavy brown hair and the person I was dining with has long, blonde hair. What's up with that? I thought this place was all about great product, and treating the food with care and attention. My friend had the sushi sandwich, which seemed to consist of strips of raw cucumber and carrots, nori, and... not much else in a pita pocket, with a side of soy dipping sauce. She had a side of potato salad as well. For the amount of money we spent, and all the fuss Fresca makes on its website about quality of ingredients, I expected a lot more. Fresca was just incredibly underwhelming. Luckily, better choices abound for the hungry vegetarian or vegan in Richmond. You really can't go wrong with Harrison Street Coffee Shop, where the sandwiches and sides are MUCH more flavorful, the atmosphere is more relaxed, and the prices are more reasonable. Other good choices are 821 Cafe, Ipanema, and even Ellwood Thompson's hot bar, depending on what they're serving up that day.

Wow! 2nd time back and the food is so fresh and so tasty, it's like it was picked from the garden moments before serving. Take non-veggie friends here and you'll be sure to convert them!

this vegetarian place is perfect for richmond. i've only ever had the four cheese pizza, its basically a white pizza with cherry tomatos on top, and i loved it. so did my meat eating boyfriend. everything is very fresh and delicious, i can't wait to try even more pizzas and all of the sandwiches! one thing that i LOVE about fresca is the half off pizza on saturdays, such a good deal! I plan on going every saturday for the half off pizza. this place is perfect for any one! even meat eaters!

You will not miss the meat at this casual, semi self serve place. High quality ingredients, so not cheap, but well worth the price. I like the sandwiches on fresh baked pita that come with a side, the delicious salads and the pizza. Desserts are also good. The dessert pizzas are fabulous. Outdoor seating option is welcome.

I think salt and mediocrity are the main ingredients. I had a broccolini and white bean pita pocket this time around and the flavor just wasn't there. Once again I was very unimpressed. I really wanted to like this place but Fresca just doesn't cut it.

Simple.... That's the overall feel of this restaurant. The website, the decor, and thought process behind this restaurant is really simple. The ambiance of this place is nothing to write home about, again pretty simple, but the food definitely is. "We're not vegetarian. We just don't serve meat." Fresca may not serve meat but you definitely don't miss it. Their variety of dishes from soups and salads to pizza or curried vegetables gives everyone an option...even if you're not of the veggie mind-set. I had the BBQ seitan and it was great. The sauce was nice and sweet with coleslaw on top. My girlfriend chose the roasted broccolini with the white bean spread and she raved about it. While the two of us went with the sandwiches, my brother went with a full entree. He ordered the chili and was surprised when they gave him three options to go with it. Rice, grits, or quinoa, which are really great healthy choices that he appreciated. He loved the quinoa, the chili, and even the simple side salad to top it all off. Overall this meal was really delicious! The coleslaw that came with the sandwiches wasn't awesome but definitely refreshing. The only down part of this meal was the price. The sandwiches were around $8 and the portions were a bit small. But for, "local - organic - fresh - healthy - and damn tasty. " food, i wouldn't be surprised to see myself back there really soon! Thanks for a great meal.

I'm a vegetarian and I absolutely love Fresca, I come here all the time. My boyfriend is a carnivore and loves it as much as I do! He didn't even know his BBQ sandwich was actually vegetarian and was shocked when I broke the news after we left. It didn't matter because it was the best he'd "ever had!" I introduced my out of town vegan friend to Fresca and she loves it. They can make most of their menu vegan. We come here every time she is in town and stock up on baked goods and yummy vegan chicken salad sandwiches (as good as the real thing!)

really bland food. Could be really good, but its needs some spices or something. There's a huge rack of different hot sauces, which is useful, but man! Please add some salt or something!

I've been here 3 times with different friends and my husband (none of whom are vegetarian). Everyone has raved about whatever they got. The ingredients this restaurant use are fresh and good quality. The staff is friendly and low key. Since you save a lot of calories by not eating meat, you can splurge a little by ordering one of the tasty desserts.

This restaurant was so fresh and tasty. We were driving to Williamsburg from dc. My son is vegetarian. We loved it. The sushi sandwich was awesome. My son loved the BBQ sandwich. I tasted everyone's roasted veggies. I had gotten the soup as a side instead of veggies. I wish I had gotten veggies because the soup was really heavy. It would have been a great entree but it was too heavy as a side. We took a 25 minute detour to get there but it was worth it.

this is a normal review, but will end with an odd statement. fresca is great. the food is wonderful. if you're a vegetarian or vegan it's yet another great place in richmond to enjoy a meal where you have more then two options. all the ingredients are fresh and tasty. the seitan is always the right consistency and never chewy. the greek sandwich is my current favorite. it's light and filling. plus the atmosphere is cool and the staff is super helpful. and they have a cool beer selection. if fresca was running for president i would vote for them. just sayin.

I had dinner at Fresca tonight- yum! Started with their cobb salad, then had two pizzas- four cheese with kale and roasted cauliflower and broccoli with mushrooms, sauce and cheese. Ordered them with whole wheat crust and they were delicious. Service was great, AND there was a changing table in the bathroom- bonus points!!! Will definitely be going back soon.

"BBQ" (seitan) pita sandwich excellent, just minus one star because it was on the small side. Five stars for the potato salad and ice tea. Great to have a vegetarian restaurant around.

Read several good reviews and expected more. The curried butternut squash soup was watery - like they forgot the squash - and was boring besides. The spinach salad with beets & goat cheese was mostly spinach with 3 small pieces of beet and sparse cheese. I could live with that, but the salad dressing that I innocently poured on was so salty that the salad was then inedible. The veggie chili was good but standard. I am not generally a fussy patron, but this was really pretty bad.
