I went after work and didn't realize I was several bucks short on cash. Since it was 5 (yes five) degrees outside, they offered to round out the difference with cash from their tip jar. WHO DOES THAT? :) In an age of crappy, rude, spit in your food service ... these guys offered up their tips so my fat body wouldn't have to walk 3 blocks in the snow and cold to an ATM? Thanks Market Burger guys. I, of course, walked myself to the ATM then enjoyed the best burger one can purchase in Loudoun County. A-PLUS-PLUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. A-PLUS FOOD.

This place has one of the best burgers I've had. I ordered a beef burger with everything, bacon egg and avocado! Amazing taste! My husband ordered the turkey burger and great taste as well. Can't go wrong with either one. What is nice is that they use local grown produce from our local farms. They even have glutin free buns! Can't wait to come here again.

Local, fresh, sustainable ingredients. Cozy ambiance. Nice folks. Great burgers. Awesome shakes. It just doesn't get better than this place for a burger joint. And they make the best BLT in Western Loudoun.

Best burgers in Purcellville--meat and veggies and ice cream are all locally sourced and delicious. Both kinds of fries are to die for, and the chipotle mayo is great for dipping them in. Inventive specials like the Cuban Pork burger keep our family coming back. I have never had a bad meal here.

Really good burgers, locally-sourced beef, great shakes, and the best fries ever. Oh, and a $3 High Life to boot.

Milkshakes, Burgers, real sweet potato fries what's not to like. Everything cooked well. Local fresh ingredients. Everything is cooked to order so it's not fast paced. Seriously if in the area give them a try as well as the Distillery across the street and Hunt Country Jewelers.

My sweet lord, Market Burger is fantastic. I can't think of a better burger I have ever had. Just perfectly done, it is made from the highest quality of ingredients. The fries are also very good, and an order of them is pretty large. Two burgers and an order of fries is the right move for two people, although they are good enough that I would eat an entire order by myself. They give you all the topping/condiment options you'd conceivably want, fill your water bottle for free, and make good shakes as well. Go here and you won't be disappointed. It ran us just $19.98 for two burgers and an order of fries, and we did a couple of add-ons. I wish I could filter out all Yelp reviews of anyone who gives Market Burger a bad review. If you don't like Market Burger, you simply don't like quality burgers. About the price, I am the type of person who strongly believes in locally-produced food. Market Burger sources their meat from local farms. Literally, you can know where your burger came from. They probably pay their employees more than minimum wage. If you want to pay $7 for a burger, fries and a shake, you can probably find a McDonald's. You will also be eating much less healthy food, mystery meat that has been shipped to you frozen from Kansas or New Zealand.

Greater burgers, but the sweet potato fries with the maple mustard really stole the show. Honestly, the burgers - I had a single with just bleu cheese - were fantastic. Great buns, the cheese was some of the best bleu cheese I have ever had on a burger, and the meat tasted super fresh and very juicy. We eat a lot of high end burgers here in the DC area, and this place is now up close to the top of my list.

  • Tori L.

So much to praise! Great burger options (beef, turkey, veggie, gluten-free buns), great toppings (curry mayo and maple mustard are some of the more exotic options) and it is all or mostly locally sourced! Great milkshakes too and a good selection of bottled drinks. Oh, and the sweet potato fries are worth ordering as well. We will be back!

Pros: Amazing burgers, fries, and milkshakes. Some of the best I've ever had by FAR. Friendly staff and pretty fast service. Pricy, but you get a ton of food for the price (and the quality is just amazing, which is why this one isn't a con for me) Cons: Small place (not a super big deal), Cash only...although there is an ATM close by in case you get a craving and don't happen to have cash.

Great burgers, tons of fries. We got carry out tonight to try something new and we'll definitely be going back.

Travelled from Silver Spring to Purcellville for wine tasting and a distillery tour across the street. Stopped in for an afternoon snack. Limited seating (additional in the back). Split fries and ordered the candy bar milkshake, sans malt. The milkshake was a nice, easily drinkable consistency, with lots of snickers chunks. Could have used a bit more of the Butterfinger hunks, as those were mostly small pieces. The flavor of the Butterfinger was muddled at times. Not sure what the fudge component was... Fries were amazing. Perfectly salty. Very thin cut. Super affordable. Burgers looked good, but we had milkshakes on the brain. Would definitely go back. Might use this place to soak up some wine from local vineyards before making the trek home in the future. It definitely seemed like your best bet in the small downtown area if you wanted something fast and casual.

I very happy that the good folks of Market Table Bistro took it upon themselves to launch a burger joint! First off, today I had what I believe to be one of the best, if not the best hamburgers I've ever had... And I've been around to a LOT of burger joints! This is much better than Five Guys ( and a good Five Guys burger is hard to beat), better than In-N-Out Burger (including those with mods from the 'secret menu') and many others that I've had from Texas to the West Coast to the East Coast. It must be the ingredients. Chef Jason Lage insists on fresh, local, hand-crafted ingredients and this applies to everything at Market Burger as well. The beef is locally sourced and very fresh. The buns are sourced locally and arrive daily. The onions are local. Chef makes the pickles himself from local cucumbers. Try some. They are absolutely awesome. I had a double with American cheese, pickles, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes, along with herb mayonnaise. Make sure you have lots of napkins, because these are juicy burgers (I said JUICEY not greasy)! First bite to last bite was impressive - buns are steamed, so they are soft, yet hold together very well throughout entire meal. The meat is perfectly cooked - not too rare or overcooked, but that was my taste- I'm sure they'll cook to order, if you'll ask. The fries are thin cut, and cooked to perfection. Again, not greasy at all - and very tasty. Not to be missed. I also had a chocolate shake. Man, I forgot what a real shake is supposed to be. Mine arrived with swirls of chocolate syrup visible. A perfect blend of ice cream (probably home made), milk, and chocolate. What you would expect from the perfect chocolate shake. For burger lovers, you can't go wrong and we have a new favorite place for Friday night burgers.

Delicious! They take credit cards now too! A perfect end to a day of vineyards and the Catoctin Creek Distillery that is literally across the street. And OMG Y'ALL they serve CHEERWINE in a glass bottle! This North Carolinian can really appreciate that :)

The first time I came here, I thought this review was going to be a lot different. They only accept cash and my order of 2 burgers, 2 fries, and 2 drinks was almost 40 bucks. I thought this was ridiculous, expecting an average hole-in-the-wall burger joint. ...but the food won me over. Burgers are fantastic. Better than the more popular MELT of BurgerFi a few miles up the road. Fries are very good - but listen to the others! They give you a MASSIVE amount of them. I made the mistake of getting an order with each burger and ended up with a pile of fries that were impossible to consume. One order will feed 3 people. Seating is adequate... the entire place has a real throwback vibe, which I can appreciate. They fact that they buy all their food local is an added plus. Try it!

  • Nicholas G.

Great burgers, compares with Ray's Hell Burger in Arlington. However, while Ray's is more about premium burger, this place is about fresh, local ingredients. I've enjoyed my meal every time. I'm only docking a start due to the cash only policy as an inconvenience. However, they do have an ATM on premises. However, it can be inconvenient. The sweet potato chips with maple mustard are particularly good accompaniment for the delicious burgers.

  • Kelly F.

While I enjoy their burgers, the BLT has become my favorite item. $5 gets me their wonderful bun, a bunch of bacon, I usually shell out another buck for avocado. On the pricing, it is a tad steep for counter service (I don't think anyone would bat an eye if they had wait staff), but the food is excellent. They give you a ridiculous amount of fries, so take one order per two or three people. And I gladly give them $6 every time for that kick ass chocolate malt milkshake. As for them not taking credit cards, I'm a cash only kinda girl, so I don't mind the policy. They have an ATM on site now for those who need it.

  • Charles S.

Been here many times, wanted to post a review because I see that Yelp still shows that quote saying it is cash only, but it does accept credit cards now. The burgers are delicious, the fries are some of the best I've had, and I'll occasionally get a milk shake as well because they're so good. They cook the burgers to medium, they have a ton of different options for toppings (some free, some extra charge). It's not the biggest place, but there's seating in the back that you can't see from the front, so that has never been a problem.

Thought it was a great burger joint when walked in but the Burgers were disappointing - small and overcooked. Fries were great though!

  • Mark A.

They use to be 4 stars. They have more recently been 2 stars. Over cooking the burgers every time. They come out very dry. Plus being cash only is very silly. For what they charge. They need to be able to cook a burger correctly.

    (2)
  • Katie D.

Burgers are good - wish they'd add a few new options though. Service is friendly and prompt. Food is fresh and local. Only drawback is its a bit overpriced. I can never justify the $20 it takes to get a burger, fries, and shake for lunch.

  • Chris N.

Let me start by saying that this was the best burger and milkshake I've ever had. Even though they didn't ask me how I wanted the burger cooked, it came out perfectly with lots of juice and pink, but not red. I've been there twice, and both times I ordered their regular burger with brie cheese and avacado. (They offer a slew of complimentary toppings, and not-so-complimentary toppings, which cost an extra dollar a piece.) The first time I went I told them I was a newbie and they not only gave me an enthusistic welcome, but included some free fries. Both times I ordered the "special" milkshake, which was blackberry one day and peach the other. While the blackberry was too thick to drink with a straw, and peach was PERFECT. I especially liked the fact that they used unpeeled peaches, which added a pleasing texture to the drink. I found out about Market Burger from singer/songwriter Andrew McKnight, who was performing across the street at the Catoctin Creek Distilling Co. Apparently when all the alcohol has been extracted out of the grain mash, the remaining mash is fed to the cows, which end up at Market Burger.....A nice circle of life. Market Burger is the only place I've ever seen where the local sources of all their ingredients are prominently posted. So why did I give it four stars and not five? When I took my son there the second time, it set me back $32 plus tip for two burgers, two milkshakes and a shared fries. While some will say that you can't put a price on the best, that was a little pricey for me. I'lll still go back, just not as freqently as I would if the prices were a little lower.

What an amazing option to have in Loudoun County. Locally-sourced meat, produce, dairy, and even ice cream for the shakes. Gluten-free rolls available. The turkey burger with cheddar, pickles and tomatoes is my favorite option. I usually love sweet potato fries (which are round and more like thick chips), but I can't say no to the thinly cut skins-still-on regular fries. The fries are a huge portion - totally worth sharing. Wow. Bring cash, as they are cash only, but there is an ATM there if you need it. Totally worth the price.

  • Kara M.

Amazing burgers. I've been here twice. When dining in I noticed the staff were super nice and patient with kids. The food is delicious/fresh specifically the fries. Shakes are not up to my super chocolate-y standards as they are all made with vanilla ice cream as a base. Lastly when getting take out I recommending double checking your order before you leave, maybe it was an off day, but I only ordered two singles and the toppings were completely mixed up...

A really nice visit. I somehow managed to get a parking space out front in a area where obtaining a parking space can be challenging. My wife opted for the soup and sandwich (a grilled cheese and a bowl of tomato soup) which she loved. I went for the burger, a very fresh tasting burger w/ all locally provided toppings. This was probably the 2nd best burger I've ever had (the best being a wagyu burger to the tune of a $20 price tag). The Marketburger was no where near that price but delicious nonetheless. The staff was extremely friendly and prompt in filling our order. My only gripe was the fact that I couldn't get a diet coke or diet Pepsi. No fountain sodas but plenty of your fancier soft drink choices, if you're into that. If I could, I would only deduct 1/2 a star for that. I will definitely return!!!

This place is really, really good. Just a couple quick asides to those with the two chief complaints: --Cash only - yes, sort of a drag, but once you've done it once, you know the deal so be prepared. Heck, stop by Harris Teeter or Giant, pick up some Altoids and get cash back. Problem solved. --Price: Yes, it's pricey for what it is. You'll expect to spend upward of $10-14 per person. At the same time, it's probably not the sort of place you're gonna go every day anyway. An occasional treat, I think you might call it. Yeah, McDonald's is more convenient and more economical, so go there more often. That doesn't mean it's not worth it to come here. On to the food. The all-local beef and trimmings shine. It truly is mouth-wtatering stuff. And ditto to all the love bestowed upon the sweet potato fries. They are perfect. I'm generally not a big fan of them, but these are just right - not too "sweet," if you will. Granted, we all have our own tastes, but I'd vastly disagreee with those who maintain that the burger is pretty much Five Guys caliber. No way. Much, much better, prepared with much more care and perhaps this is partially a placebo effect since you believe you're eating all-local food, but the ingredients are top-shelf. What's more, there are daily specials that veer away from burgers, providing a diversity of menu far beyond what you'd typically find for a proverbial burger joint. There's also an extremely economical grilled cheese option for the kiddies. Will you spend a few bucks? Yes. Is it worth the price? Absolutely.

Great food, slightly punk rock, appropriately priced (you live in Loudoun County. Maybe you shouldn't have bought a McMansion instead of a house you can actually afford. Stop complaining about the prices), great location, hard-working staff = they have my dollar votes.

  • Ken C.

I enjoy Market Burger, but my experience is similar to many here: the food is good, but the cash only environment and the sheer price of a meal make it largely impractical for me to regularly eat there. Fries are great, burgers are good, it's just too expensive.

Soooooo disappointing!! I'm a huge fan of Jason and Rebecca...frequently visit Market Table Bistro in Lovettsville and was really looking forward to giving this a try. Wow, was I disappointed on so many levels! First, the place is a mess. Boxes of canola oil in the front window, stacks of soda on the floor, on top of the cooler, under the condiment table. The back room, which is another place for dining, is basically a store room with stacks of boxes, chairs on tables, bags of laundry. If they need extra storage the should block off this room and make a hallway to the restrooms. Seems so junky. Although I like the theory/feel behind using aluminum trash cans (the old fashioned kind you would find in someone's garage), it forces you to touch the dirty lids in the restroom and yes, one right in the middle of the dining room....and when I opened it a slew of flies buzzed out. Yuck, not hygienic. Unfortunately my disappointment continued with the food. I'm all for local, natural food. Love it! And when I'm paying premium for that food (that was the dream of a chef like Jason), I was expecting to be asked how I'd like my burger cooked. Nope. I forgot that detail and went up to the kitchen to ask for it to be done med. rare. Nope...too late, it was medium/medium-well (and of course they didn't offer to fix that oversight on their part). That's a shame for such a pricy, healthy burger. The condiments with the fries are fine...nothing too amazing but they give you a tablespoon of the stuff (which they charge you for). Overall, Jason needs to get his act together and realize that although this is just a burger joint, it's a crappy one. The local, sustainable nature of the food does not cancel out the low-class feel of the place and is a poor reflection of his good name. Perhaps he's spreading himself too thin and I'm concerned about his next endeavor of a tapas joint in Leesburg. Get your head in the game Jason.

Fantastic burger! In the NOVA area, I would rank this joint as #3 or #4 behind MELT Gourmet (Leesburg) and Ray's to the Third (Arlington). Tied or slightly ahead of Burger21 in Ashburn.

I've never been pushed to write a review on any restaurant until today. I'm getting ready to move to Ohio and all I wanted for one of my final meals in VA was Market Burger. I have only positive things to say about their food. Now, I will say that we order frequently but carry-out. About 10 times around the 6:00 hour when I tried to call to order, the phone rang and rang. Now, I didn't try just one time in each instance. We are talking nonstop calls for about thirty minutes. And no, this does not happen on Mondays as I know they are closed. Also in each instance, I sent my husband to pick up something else in Purcellville and while driving past, they were open. I find it crazy that the phone couldn't be picked up and if they were having some sort of phone issues, they could likely be fixed in the span of a year.

Great burgers! I had the buffalo turkey burger, my husband had the black pepper burger and our kids the grilled cheese. All were excellent! Sweet potato fries with maple mustard are excellent - cut like chips and not like traditional fries. Shakes were tasty as well! We loved it and we'll be back.

Today was our second time at Market Burger. The first time was great but unfortunately this time was not good. I had the McClellan (I think that's what it was called) and it was only so so. The burger did not have much taste and the egg was well done. We loved the sweet potato fries the first time but this time around they were extremely undercooked and just not good. Now, our extreme disappointment (other than the $32 bill for 2 sandwiches, sweet potato fries, and 2 sodas) was my wife's veggie burger. First off this is not a veggie burger AT ALL! They should call it a black bean paste glob. There was nothing but whole and puréed black bean mush as the burger. It was truly awful and I'm feeling I'll just thinking about it right now. I highly recommend staying away from the veggie burger. Will probably just go to 5 guys or Melt from now on.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!! best burgers I have ever had! Best fries I have ever had too!!!!!! Every ingredient that goes into making the burger is so fresh.. Even the bun.. Pickles.. Onions.. Lettuce.. EVERYTHING! Plus they have so many different toppings. They also have more seating then what you see from the window.. It's HANDS DOWN the BEST place to eat in purcellville.. And my entire family agrees. Plus it's kids friendly! You need to stop reading this and go get a burger! And they have turkey burgers.. AMAZINGLY AWESOME! Sooooooooo gooood! Now I want one.. :)

They get one star just for opening up a burger joint in Purcellville. The good: Fries were delish! I'm assuming the shake was good cause my son crushed it before we even got home, so I never got to taste it. The bad: Burger just wasn't that good. Sorry, I appreciate chefs who use local products, but I've had lots of local meat. It's just not nearly as flavorful. And it wasn't cooked great either. Doesn't come close to 5 Guys. And I gave this place a lot of leeway as I wanted to like it. Prices. Way high. Seriously. Way out of proportion to what you get. Cash only? Short sighted. I'll give it another try as I went right after they opened.

well after much praise and talk about this new burger joint, I was excited to give it a try. I wasn't impress at all. The chocolate shake was very good. I ordered a one patty burger with blue cheese and sauteed onions. The beef was not good at all. It even looked "spongy"?! is the best way I can describe it and tasteless. I've had local meats from the area and it did not taste anything like this burger. The fries were saturated in oil and soggy. for 2 burgers, 2 shakes and an order of fries for $30....no thank you. Wont be going back any time soon. Oh and they only take CASH?!! Who doesn't accept debit/credit cards....its 2012!!!

  • Sue H.

As for better than Melt... Don't think so, burgers are good and fresh . Burgers are significantly smaller so for $10 a pop kinda steep. The French fries are very good. The sweet potato fries were too soft not crispy at all. Which made me sad :( and they don't need that maple mustard stuff. Milkshakes are excellent thick creamy and chocolate or vanilla.

  • Spencer C.

I was there on opening day and............ I guess it was ok. I was impressed that they had nehi's and it was AMAZING because I've never had one before. Everything was homemade but it was a little bit undercooked and it got cold way to quickly. So overall I give it a rating.

Today I felt like a burger so I went to Market Burger in Pville. I ordered one single burger with pickle and catsup, and a double cheeseburger with mayo, lettuce, pickle, onion, tomato, the bill was $17.04 for just two burgers with no sides of any sort. I did get a few napkins. They boast about using the best local beef and products which is fine but the burgers were marginal espically for the price paid. Come on, this is Purcellville Va, not Beverly Hills. It is a cool little joint but the prices are way way too steep for what you get. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has walked out of that place feeling raped.

  • Mike F.

I am not sure why I put off going to Market Burger for so long. Maybe it was the cash only policy shared by the ice cream place next door that is overrated and overpriced. I'm not sure but I am so glad I finally stopped by. The standard single burger I had was FANTASTIC! The fact that all of that delicious meatiness comes from nearby cows just adds to the experience. It was placed inside a perfect hamburger bun; you know the kind that is soft in the middle but stout on the outside and toasted on the bottom. The bun that holds together well while sopping up the juices from the things sandwiched in between. The toppings from the cheese to the lettuce and tomato and the grilled onions were all sublime. My only complaint was that no one asked me how I wanted my burger cooked but most places cook it all the way nowadays and it was cooked perfectly. Then I had the sweet potato fries which were surprisingly sliced like potato chips but thicker and also cooked perfectly. They came with a little side of some mustard/mayo/maple dressing but they hardly need it. They gave me more fries than I could eat. I also liked the fact they have the Boylans brand of soda. The total cash for this awesome burger meal was $15 and it was worth every penny. I would still say that Five Guys makes a superior burger for the price, the double there is the standard as far as I am concerned and beats out Melt, In-N-Out, Fuddruckers, you name it. BUT - if you care about local beef and ingredients and don't want to drive to Leesburg then this is the place for a real burger in Purcellville. When I get the craving for a nice juicy burger I will be going to Market Burger! I may just stop by every week so I can try the BLT and the lamb burger and the Cuban sandwich. Yes, that is what I am going to do - I am going to keep an extra $20 in my wallet just in case.

I really wanted to love this place. I'm a firm believer of supporting local businesses, even if there is a bit of an extra cost. The burgers were good as we're the fresh cut fries. But where this establishment crosses the line is price. I don't mind paying $8 for there burger or even $3 for the fries. But charging $1.50 for a styrofoam cup of tap water is beyond ridiculous (stupid me ordered two, so they got me for $3). Saddest part is $1.50 doesn't even get you ice. I have never been to the owners other more upscale establishment, but I'd be shocked if they would charge for tap water. You sort of feel like they are taking advantage of locals willing to support a new local business.

This is, by far, the best burger restaurant around! Everything about this place is spectacular - even the drive to Purcellville (it's a great little town) adds to the anticipation and, ultimately the excitement of realizing you've found something unique and totally worth the trip. The burgers are grass fed and very good (I recommend adding the white cheddar and homemade pickles). The fries cannot be beat and the single portion is big enough for two and the shakes are everything you could want - thick and creamy and full of flavor. All of that said, don't hesitate to order the special burger (could be made of local pork, for example) as Jason (the chef) is a genius at matching up flavors and the special burgers he puts together are... well, "special". BTW, for all of you "five guys" fans, five guys is a greasy mess compared to Market Burger and they don't have shakes! Remember, it doesn't take 5 guys to make a great burger - it takes just one (and his name is Jason).

Two words; Totally Disappointed. I read the reviews in the Loudoun Times and was truly excited to try this place out. The food was good enough (fries were awesome), I love the idea of using fresh meat, and local products, and love supporting small businesses. And the burger was reasonably priced at $7. But the bill was $13, for a burger, fries and soda. A *can* of Diet Coke was $2.50! The single burger was quite smaller than the bun, so I didn't eat about 1/2 the bun. And I asked for "plain mayo". What I got instead was the herb mayo. I could not taste anything else but this herb mayo. Add to the atmosphere...the music was WPGC, and way too loud. It was virtually impossible to hear placing my order, perhaps that is why the order was wrong. There were NO pickles on my sandwich. In busing your own table, there are actual metal trash cans to place the garbage in. Eek. I don't think I will be going back. So sad because I like supporting local small businesses.

Hands down, best burger I've ever had!!! Single is just the right size for a regular burger. Best part, this isn't your regular burger joint. Meat is farm fresh - never frozen. Yes, it does make a difference. Every part of the burger is locally sourced or made in-house. This is why everything taste so great. It is also why sometimes they run out of food. (I'm sure they will rectify this once they get a chance to determine demand.) No complaints please - if you want to be sure you can always get a burger exactly when you want it and don't care that the meat was once frozen or where it came from, then go to McDonald's - this is not your kind of place. If, on the other hand, you can understand that fresh means fresh and that fresh only lasts so long, stop in here for the best real beef burger. Do it early, remember FRESH. My only minuscule complaint, I really couldn't taste the cheddar cheese that's $1 extra, so I'd like more cheese per order please. Brioche buns are steamed so they're soft and really soak up the beef flavor. Pickles are made by the chef and are amazing. Sort of a cross between dill and gerkin, retaining enough bite that you know they are cucumbers. Herb mayo is not to be missed. Fries are thin cut cooked just right - not too crunchy, not soggy or greasy. Limited beverages, but the best of the best. IBC root beer, real sugar (not corn syrup) bottled Cokes, other flavored sodas, and bottled water. After reading this you're probably thinking, frou-frou yuppie burger! You couldn't be more wrong. No weird crap, very relaxed and fun atmosphere, incredibly friendly staff. If they had fountain sodas, I would liken this place to a 50's hamburger joint because that's all that's missing. Black and white decor, order at the counter, great fresh (repeat fresh) food, great people. All in all, good family fun.

Haven't had a burger this good in a while! I got the turkey burger with the pickles, herb mayo, American cheese, sautéed onions, tomato, and lettuce. I highly recommend the homemade pickles and herb mayo! The burger was so juicy (unlike most turkey burgers), flavorful, and huge. I would definitely get this again if we lived closer (unfortunately we were only in the area for the day). My husband and I shared an order of fries, and we each got a milkshake (vanilla and coffee). All were delicious. I heard one woman complain that the fries weren't crispy enough, but we both thought they were perfect. Maybe she was looking for McDonalds-esque crisp? Anyway, we were both stuffed after our meal, so the portions were perfect. I didn't mind it being cash only (there's an ATM inside), and the prices were completely reasonable for local, organic, and fresh ingredients. I do have to agree with a post below that pointed out all of the negative reviews based on price and the cash only option. At the end of the day, switching to credit cards could potentially drive up the cost of the food to offset the processing fees. Im all for supporting a local business like this and will certainly be back if I'm ever in the area again.

Wonderful burger! Obviously very well made with quality ingredients. The milkshake was really thick, which I love, and the fries were generous in quantity. Pretty expensive place, probably not something the wallet (or your heart) could take on a regular basis, but a fine date night place if you both love a really, really good cheeseburger.

    Wow. Awesome burgers!

  • Paulino G.

Huh? Mediocre. Meat is too too dry. Patties are too thin. The chef is inexperienced. They will never match P J Clarke's of yore a la Gene Hackman's description in French Connection II. To each his own. End of Story.

We found this gem after visiting the Catoctin Distillery across the street. My husband and I both had burgers and shared an order of fries, and we agreed that the food was great. It's always nice to see a bit of a line when walking into an establishment that's new to you. I liked that the ingredients were locally sourced, and my husband really enjoyed the freshness of the food. We'll definitely be back! (and they take credit cards now, too!)

a sandwich so big my jaw was sore! the burger was great, I got the one with the egg on it. The shakes were also AMAZING, must try the pumpkin pie, yum.

  • A V.

Totally worth the price. Even the black bean burger was excellent. The ingredients taste fresh, the fries are cooked perfectly. The curry mayo was unbelievably good. They have a great selection of bottled sodas, which makes it difficult to choose between the sodas and the shakes! Service was fast. The eating area was small but was adequate for a lunch time crowd. Cash only, but they have an ATM there.

May be the best burger I've ever had - I created a yelp account just to write about how amazing the burger was

The price in the description needs to be updated. This place deserves more than a single $ sign. Pro's: The food was very tasty, the staff was friendly. I enjoyed the burgers and fries at this place. The chocolate malt was excellent. The food wasn't greasy at all. Con's: Cash Only: I am hoping this is going to be a short term exercise for this joint. Nobody carries cash anymore. Having to run to the ATM before you eat (and all ATM's are on the other side of town) runs counter to customer satisfaction. Price: We got 3 single patty burgers (2 with Cheddar Cheese), 2 orders of fries, 2 sodas and 2 shakes. Total with Tax came to $48.00 Factor in Tip and I was running close to a $60 dollar meal (For THREE burgers and extra's) No kids menu options: I have young kids, and the cheapest burger you can get is $7.00, and the root beer is $2.50/bottle and the fries are $3.00....well....the cons are adding up fast. Portion size: If you're hungry, you will want to upgrade to the double patty which I think was a $1.50 up charge. I had a burger, fries and shake and left feeling peckish. This place has real potential. The food is excellent. But go in figuring you are going to pay a premium price for a premium product. I hope that this place can make it, but my gut says that unless the cons get addressed, it won't.

Honestly, they seem like nice people. But once I got home and realized my $11 burger with avocado and mushroom could fit under the size of a single dollar bill I laughed. I really wasn't angry, I just laughed, it was that ridiculous.

  • Windy L.

Menu choices were good. Burger was okay, nothing I can say I will remember and want to come back to. Kinda flavorless. Small inside, but cozy and clean. Great shakes! Expensive. Down side CASH ONLY. I would have spent more had I had the cash.

    (2)
  • Alexandra R.

They do just one thing and they do it well - burgers, including Ahi tuna, veggie and portobello - sodas, fries and shakes. We had burgers and shakes today and they were fantastic. All the ingredients are local, Loudon County, and you can tell. This isn't a place you would linger for two hours, but for a great lunch, it can't be beat.

  • KK M.

I know a lot if people complain about the price, but they are apparently not taking into account three things: the burgers are HUGE, the toppings are FREE, and everything is locally sourced, including the delicious buns. It IS a pain that they are STILL cash only, but one sip of their ridiculously good milkshake and you'll forget that small inconvenience.

    (4)
  • S H.

good burgers, using locally sourced ingredients. excellent topping options. CASH ONLY

  • MJ P.

My favorite burger in Loudoun! This place is great - I love seeing all the local and organic menu items. Yes, it's a little pricey for a burger and fries, but you get what you pay for. We've been several times, tried all sorts of toppings, and always been very pleased. The homemade pickles are awesome and the handcut fries.... well just try them for yourself. Four stars for only accepting cash, which is a big inconvenience and has led us to make a different dinner choice in the past (I'm sure they lose lots of business for that reason alone) but as far as the food goes... wow.

    (4)
  • Dave B.

Great burgers and buns and fries! Just a bit pricy..... I realize the value and quality of using organic local meats and veggies, but some customers may not want to pay the price for that quality. I would, and I will. I've told many about the quality of these burgers and the choices, and I'll continue to eat here often because I appreciate what they are doing to promote our Loudoun economy - and I love the food!

    (4)
  • Michael C.

The burgers, fries, and shakes are great. They normally have some special burgers that are worth trying. I had a great one that was actualy a grilled mushroom instead of a burger, but the other toppings and dressing they combined created amazing flavor. They also offer a nice range of old-fashion-ish bottled drinks. This place is within walking distance from home for me - yet for the reasons others have noted, I don't go there very often. It's very pricey for burgers and fries and you have to have cash on hand. With a family of 6, the bill easily exceeds $75 and I just don't carry that much paper with me most days. Also, when paying this much I want to eat it hot so I dine in, and there is not a whole lot of ambiance. I hope they find a way to survive and adapt their model a bit to be a long-term success in downtown Purcellville.

I haven't been to Market Burger as of yet, so this isn't a comment on the food as it is more a comment on the comments. Many of the comments that are negative are focusing on two things...the cost of the product and the issue of a cash-only joint...the latter I will address first. What is wrong with a cash-only joint? What, the people of Northern VA, one of the wealthiest places in America, are so spoiled that they can't use cash? Oh my...oh my, life as we know it will end. Sorry for the sarcasm, but it is silly. You have Pho75, a great restaurant in the DC Met Area with several locations, which is cash only, and nobody seems to complain about them. Ray's Hell Burger, one of the area's most renowed burger places, take only cash...and with almost 1400 reviews on Yelp, they average four stars. So I am sorry, that is not a good reason to penalize a restaurant...that is a personal issue. As for the cost of the product, look...if you go to a restaurant which uses local/organic products, HELLO...it will cost more. If you want something cheaper, go to McDonalds or even Five Guys, places that use a less sophisticated product. This place doesn't have a liquor license, which can enable them to make more money, and to defray costs, so unfortunately, they have to pass that cost on to the consumer. Quit whining!!! If the food is good...the food is good. PERIOD. Good product and excellent execution is what makes food good, and I would say 70% of it is having good product. Most of reviews say that the food is good...so it looks like Market Burger accomplished what they wanted to do...they fed you, and fed you well. That being said, I can't wait to go to the restaurant, try it out, and come back and comment on the FOOD....THE FOOD!!!

  • Tucker T.

Looks wonderful but how long will it be cash only?

Burger was good but $17 for a single Burger, fries and shake is ridiculous....even in Loudoun county.

  • Regina B.

If you love a good burger, this is the place for you. Everything is fresh and well seasoned and well worth the price. The fries are crisp and delicious and the burgers juicy and flavorful. You can really taste the quality of the beef.

New place in P'ville, as the name hints to, it's burger place. I think today was their 1st day of business. Pretty good. I had the single beef burger($7), should have had the double($8.50) beause it was on the small side. I would guess the double would be a regular size burger rather than some gross monstrosity. I didn't like the House Made Pickles, more bread and butter than dill pickle. Guess my tastes are not that uptown. Of course had fries, they are hand cut and thin. Wife says best fries she has had in a long time. I liked them too, good flavor, crispy, though maybe not quite as much as the mrs. did. The organic turkey burger($9) was ordered by my better half, she loved it! I have to take her word on that, I think turkey and burger go together like eye and sharp stick, but to each their own. Drinks were a little limited, Boylan? soda in bottles. I had a regular soda, it was good cola, though I think it's tough to beat the 800lb gorilla of colas, Coke with a burger. No diet soda, water for your kind. Today was the 1st day so I think that could change. Another 1st day snafu, the kitchen fans were not operating properly so it was smoky in there. I assume that's temporary and don't hold that against them. A little research turned up most(all?) of the ingredients are locally sourced which is cool. The chef has real cred and accolades too. I'll be back. Oops, trying to fix the name, my typo, it's MARKET BURGER, not markeR burger. Sorry guys!

  • Teresia S.

I like the burgers and the fries. Stay away from the shakes if you have peanut or tree nut allergies (cross contamination). I was put off a little when I found out it was cash only. After finding out why I understand. Credit card fee is too high. I have been told could be around $500.00/month. Too high for a small business.

    (3)
  • leslie s.

Best burger I've had in a long time. Pricey but fresh ingredients make it worth the price. Rivals one of my favorites, Shake Shack, and hands down better than Five Guys. Only drawback is small space and don't accept credit cards. Great burger with fresh beef and freshly baked buns, housemade pickles, generous fries and delicious shakes. We'll be back soon!

    (4)
  • Monica W.

One of the BEST burgers around! The herb mayo is awesome. Only suggestion is to add ability to pay with a Credit Card. I'm sure some will scoff at the prices, but quality isn't cheap!! Love this place and will continue to go back!!

Ann G - what a surprise in small town Purciville ! The burgers were amazing , ingredients soooo fresh and sweet potatoes were cut up straight from potato rounds perfectly sliced and seasoned! Yum and thanks

Every time I go here, I want to love it, I really do. The woman working the front counter couldn't smile and seemed annoyed even taking orders. It always takes a while to get food here so I wasn't too surprised and am happy to wait for quality food. The grandparents waiting for 2 milkshakes for 20 minutes were a little less understanding. I ordered a double burger, cheddar, mushrooms, bacon, mayo and fresh onions. Maybe today was National Salt Day and I just hadn't looked at the calendar. I took one bite and immediately needed a drink of water. Yowza, all I could taste was salt. It was like the mushrooms were sauteed in salt before they were put on the salt burger under the salt mayo. Sadly, the bacon was missing but I suppose leaving off even more salt was fine in the end. I found no discernible cheddar. The burger just didn't come together and I asked if they had put a sauce instead of mayo on it. The woman at the counter just shrugged her shoulders at me and continued to wipe it down. The guys in the back pulled my ticket and told me it was herbed mayo and that I never ordered bacon. Ok, guys.... The patties were dry and tough so I pulled one off and left it, hoping to be able to tolerate the remaining salt level. My daughters who were excited to go both remarked how salty their burgers were and both didn't finish them. All in all, for over $40 without alcohol or shakes for an adult and two kids, I expected an edible meal. A polite wait person would have just put the experience over the top. Unfortunately, there are far better burgers within a short drive that are well worth it and less than $10 each. I could have done without the "most people are gone, let's blare the country music" effect as well. I couldn't hear my daughter talking across the table. Props for having unsweetened tea in the beverage case. One good thing is that they now take Square so you can use a credit card if you need to. Make sure you leave enough room on your card to re-up your blood pressure meds though, you're going to need it. Once again, I left disappointed but this time, I've learned my lesson and will take the drive to Melt in Leesburg instead.

After going tubing on the Potomac River on a Sunday w/ a group of folks, myself and one other person needed some food, preferably a burger ...... bad. Happened to see Market Burger on the Google Maps app on the phone and decided to detour over to hit it. Without a doubt, one of the best burgers I've ever had. You can customize the toppings which rocks. The burger is how a burger should look - big n juicy. The sweet potato fries are incredible (can't get them quite right myself at home) and the maple-mustard sets them off. I'll have to look up a recipe to try it at home. One order of fries is big enough for 2 people easily. They have old-school sodas in the bottle which you gotta love. Afterwards, we both got a milkshake which was the final nail in the meal .... but oh, so worth it. Summary: Run!!! Don't walk on over to Market Burger!!! The world needs more places that show Ronald McDonald how a burger should be done

    (5)
  • Matthew F.

Great burgers; my first time I had the best curry burger I ever had. This time I went for a pork style burger, and they let me order a half-sized vs full sized set of hand cut fries. While I love bacon, you may want to skip the bacon cream soda. Let's just say that soda might be the only exception to the rule that 'bacon goes with everything'...

    (4)
  • Savannah P.

Burgers are top notch. Quality meat, fresh bun, and lots of choices for toppings. Fries are thin and delish. This isn't the best place for sitting and relaxing, because the dining area has uncomfortable chairs and little atmosphere. But the food is great, so if you're looking for a good burger this is the best place in Purcellville! Very expensive. Probably won't get out of there for less than $30 for 2 people.

    (4)
  • Doug B.

Great burger today. Couldn't stop eating the fries. But, the peach milk shake was out of this world! Great service. Great food. Easy to get at. I love this place!

    (5)
  • Lark L.

The good: Local sourced product Sweet Potato Fries with Maple Mustard-generous portion-good flavor Sweet bubbly reddish haired girl making burgers The bad: Surly guy who took my order seemed annoyed I was placing an order and my first impression/interaction made for a sour start. Drink options---If you have no Central A/C and flies around you should offer water and ice for free! Come on! That is just silly. Price- Almost $15 for Single burger, fries and bottled water. I wanted the shake special but it was 7.50---slightly ridiculous---local or not-- prices don't make this a frequent burger stop and the burger was fine but there are tons of good burger places everywhere.

  • Shayda W.

Recently ordered the herb mayo BLT and sweet potato fries with maple honey mustard dressing from here... Um.. Delish! Also happy with the pricing esp considering the fries were enough for 2. I have yet to try a burger from there but am sure they won't disappoint.

  • Dan W.

I really like this place. The staff are very friendly. The food is very tasty, and I pay close attention to the daily specials become sometimes they are a homerun. I recently had some sort of cuban sandwich they they made, it was nothing like an authentic cuban sandwich, regardless, it was exceptionally tasty. I am not a huge fan of their fires, though they give you quite a lot of them when you order. The meat on the burgers has a really good taste, and the cheese just jumps out and says "HELLO" when you bite in. My only wish is that they had better beverage options, maybe some vitamin water or something like that, the longneck sodas are nostalgic and cool, but I am not a fan of soda at all, much to sweet for me. Overall, a very good burger, it may seem a little pricey, but considering the expense of locally sourcing quality ingredients, I do understand. I vote this place up the best way that I know how, by being a repeat customer.

    (4)
  • Grant L.

This place is very expensive for what you get. The meals are fantastic but I could go make my own for about half the price and more to my taste. The company has good intentions of using all local meat and that is great but if they would like to be the best burger place in Purcellville the price point has to drop.

    (3)
  • Diego R.

Wow! Excellence on a bun! The freshness and quality of the food made me feel that everything was farmed and raised right out back! Makes me want to move to Purcellville!

    (5)
  • Clifton P.

Burger and fries tasted alright. BUT!! the place has dirt and old food on the tables, chairs and floors. Everything is sticky. The back room smells like mold. And to top it off, they have a selection for tips of 15%, 20% and 30% when you pay. I would expect that if I was getting served. Not when they put your food on a tray for you to come pick up at the counter and then have to put in a trashcan yourself when your done. That's like McDonalds and I don't tip at McDonalds.

    (1)
  • Cat P.

Delicious burger, fresh local ingredients. Gluten free and vegan options available, so the whole family was happy. Friendly staff and in a great location. We will be back.

    (5)
  • M T.

Stopped here on a whim after we went to the distillery across the street. The burgers were really good. The fries were really good. Thats mostly all that matters, but apparently it is all locally sourced food. If I ever find myself back in the area I would definitely eat here again. Yummy!!

    (5)
  • Charles M.

Considering this place has "burger" in their name, one would think they would be able to distinguish between a cheeseburger and a hamburger. Unfortunately they failed to do something that 99% of all restaurants are capable of. I have not had this problem in years and all I have to say is congrats market burger on being the 1%. The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one is because they have good sweet potato fries. If you are in the market for an overpriced average at best tasting burger then you have come to the right place.

    (2)
  • Cheryl T.

For someone who doesn't particularly like sweet potato fries - Market Burger's stole the show!!! They are sliced like potato chips, so they are thin and crispy...and the maple mustard...WOW! I ordered regular fries for myself, but I kept stealing my husband's sweet potato fries. The burger was good as well...the cheddar was well worth the $1 upgrade [from American cheese].

    (4)
  • Jamil S.

I upgraded them from 3 to 4 stars because they take credit cards. I'd give them five if they'd fix their desert processing to be safer for people with nut allergies.

    (4)
  • Amy P.

Went with two friends, we each had a single burger and shared combo fries (reg potato and sweet potato). Burger was fresh and perfectly cooked. Loved the curry mayo and homemade pickles. Bun was perfect size and texture. Not too soft, not too hard, Maple dip for sweet potato fries was stellar. Only negative was the beverage choices. Not to our liking.

Id have given this place 5 stars for the food but there is too many anoying things about this joint to come close to five stars. First off..the burger and the fries were spot on and simply delicious. The freshness is apparent in every bite. Im a burger snob and these burgers were among the best ive had. The bad unfortunately outweighed the food even. My wife wont go back and sadly...I wont have occasion to return as a result. 1. The place was small and cramped. The only seats really ever available are in the back with screaming snot nose kids and babies...and next to the toilet to boot. If you are lucky to get a dirty table upfront, you will have to contend with the fly infestation and the folks in line hovering over your table. You will also have to bus your table in a tin garbage can that takes two hands when you dont have one to spare. 2. The food takes forever to get your name called. The manager who apparently cooks too with first job kids doesnt seem to care and is unapologetic that you have to wait 40 minutes with flies and babies battering your senses. 3. The place is very expensive for a burger joint. I know..you are paying for a freshly slaughtered cow..but it is still to expensive for the overall experience. Bottom line..great burgers and fries..atmosphere horrendous and dirty...service and food prep nonexistent. Will return when they clean up their act..otherwise my wife wont go with me for a "fly on a cow eyeball" burger.

  • Sam C.

I maintain this is one of the best burger in the area and the fries are hands down the best. I am giving my second review of this place as 3 instead of 5 stars because of the service. The kid at the register was a bit difficult having to repeat myself multiple times with him. Then the owner talking bad about a customer who ordered on the phone all the time and doesn't tip. That is ad business speaking poorly of a customer who is a regular. Otherwise this place wpuld get another 5 stars. Still great burgers and fries!

its simple - 'this' is the best burger in Loudoun County - 'period' ...go - eat - live and love -

  • Mark D.

Great burgers, lots of options. The staff was friendly and offered good suggestions. The meat was done and still juicy. Love that they keep as local as possible with meats and dairy. The shakes are thick and wonderful. Nice to have sweet potato fries option. Stop here for a great meal.

Fabulous burgers! We walked over after going to catoctin creek distillery for some food. My boyfriend and I created our own burgers. The maple mustard that came with the fries were amazing. They even had gluten free buns! Would definitely recommend.

    (5)
  • Heather P.

The burger was what I call "sad size" because it was tiny. The burger was also very greasy and not seasoned at all. Fries were delicious but was disappointed by the sweet potato chips (not fries at all).

  • Bryan J.

Great burgers made by great people! My family rode bicycle on the W & OD trail to Purcellville and visited this little restaurant. They make their food out of fresh local ingredients and the staffs are very friendly. The market burger with a fried egg and jalapenos inside was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Before we left, the staff even offered to refill our water bottles for our ride back. It's a very comfortable experience throughout our visit to this place. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely visit again next time!

Pretty good food but would prefer they use gloves to make the food rather than there own hands.

  • Lori C.

Lawdy! I wish I'd have never eaten here. I don't like burgers or fries- but- their fries are the best I have ever had. Yes I am a freak of nature to not like fries but theirs are damn good ! Then the burgers- yum! This is the first time in my life that I finally get it as to why people like burgers and fries. The shakes are fabulous too. The down side ? Can't think of one. I just hate it when I think about eating there a lot. Not like there aren't other things I should be thinking about. Fries, fries, fries! I have even dreamt about the fries. Servings are huge- share or take some home.

  • Maria H.

The burger was okay to salty. And toppings were not worth the price. $1.00 for a single strip of bacon $1.00 for cheese that they melted off before I got it. The fries had to many remnants from the last batch, burn an sweat potato mixed in. The soda float was great. Over all paid to much for an okay burger. Will not be back.

    (1)
  • Becca Q.

Fresh burgers, cute atmosphere 6 different types of mustard and mayo including the maple mustard which is quite fantastic. They have added a square credit card machine so they now take credit cards. The sweet potato fries are big slices of potato gently fried to perfection and pair wells with the maple mustard. It was a great experience. Fantastic fresh food. Will be back.

Pretty awesome! Came here on a hot, sunny, Friday afternoon: cute little location with very friendly service. Ordered a custom burger with herb mayo, lettuce, tomato, cheese, avacado, and bacon. It was delicious, as were the fries. I also like how they plated the burgers on the cafeteria trays with old-timey newspaper (the old-fashioned sodas were also a hit! love me some rootbeer in a bottle :-) ) Props to them for also sourcing produce and protein from local farms - noticed they are also participating in Farm-to-Fork Loudoun... maybe they might source some fine VA wines/craft beers to go alongside their fabulous fare? Could be interesting! Highly recommend!

We have been living near Pville for 3 years now, and not sure how we have not found this little gem. Market Burger is AWESOME. Although the seating is limited, that makes the place! LOVED the sweet potato fries with the maple mustard dip they serve with it, it is so good! The food is nothing short of delicious and we will be back many times over! Also love that they use local ingredients, that is very hard to find! Check them out!

Burgers good. However service not prioritized. Manager would rather talk employee scheduling rather than take customer orders. Not the first time service was slow...too bad because it overshadows how good food is

This place is great! Small restaurant but everything is locally farmed and raised nearby. Burgers are a decent size. The fries are amazing! They were in the back cutting the potatoes. Highly recommend this place for lunch.

This was a GREAT experience all the way around. lots of choices, friendly service, and funky environment. They make a point of serving locally derived, grass-fed beef. The burgers, the choices and the fries were all YUMMY. if you're in the area, definitely check this place out.

Without a doubt the best burger I ever ate. This place is amazing and well worth the trip to Purcellville, VA. Locally grown beef, fed with the remnants of rye whiskey distillation from the Catoctin distillery across the street. Awesome and made to order. Don't miss this joint.

I was really excited to try Market Burger, it had been on my list of places to try for a long time, but we just don't get to Purcellville very often. I may have caught it on a bad day, but the reception was bad, order was not entered correctly, and it took asking four times to get our shake (after the burgers were finished). The burger and black bean burger were good and the fries were great, but it didn't compensate for the frustration of bad service.

Simply righteous! Running the inaugural Loudon Half Marathon on Sunday morning, we wanted a beefy, carby delicious lunch the day prior and Market Burger delivered on everything promised. Burgers were fresh and seasoned perfectly, I got the MacCullen with the fried egg on top, OH YEAH! Hubby got the special of the day which was a burger with cuban style smoked ham and cheese, it was awesome as well. Their buns are terrific, not sure what type but from a local bakery...just the right amount of firm to stand up to the burger but nice and soft on the inside and easy to chew. The fries, oh Lord the fries! Can't remember the last time I had hand cut shoestring fries...they were crisp and perfectly salted...didn't even need ketchup, they were so darn good. One order is enough for two people to split. I had a chocolate malt and hubby a vanilla shake, both super thick and creamy and just perfect. Our tab was $40 and we appreciate that they now accept credit cards as we never carry cash. All in all Market Burger was everything we'd hoped it would be, good people making good quality food to order. We were the first in at 11:15 on a Saturday morning, by 11:30 all the seats in the front were filled. It would be worth the wait but get there early so you don't have to 'cause once that grill gets fired up your stomach is going to get impatient. We rounded out lunch with a tour and tasting at Catoctin Creek Distillery which is right across the street. Thanks for the great afternoon Purcellville!
