Yum! This place was recommended to us by one of the waitresses at Bluemont Winery (Megan). Had a dog with kraut and jalapenos and it didn't disappoint. Cheese fries were money. We felt a little rushed to order and didn't realize the menu had some "preconfigured" options like the Coney Island Dog or the Reuben Dog. Might have gone with one of those if I had known. Dogs were all great, albeit a little pricy as others have noted. Would definitely recommend!

This is a decent place to grab a wiener. The haute fries were drizzled with mayo and siracha and I would highly recommend them. The NY Rueben dog and DC District dog hit the spot but neither had me planning my next trip back the way the dogs at DC-3's do. They are served in a big piece of folded sourdough bread, which is great for keeping the ingredients on top of the meat but seems to hide the taste of the sausage.

I was in Chicago earlier in the month and Virginia is for Lover's recommended them. So I decided to compare the Chicago Dog, and my dad got the Coney Island Dog. It was a little pricy but very good. The service was great and we would defiantly go back, and we are going to try the location in Alexandria too.

Before I start with the review, I must give thanks to fellow Yelper, MacRae O. for reviewing this place and thus putting it on my radar. My husband, who never met a hot dog joint that he didn't like, couldn't wait to eat here! So...we arrived here on a Saturday around 4:30 p.m. and there was only one other customer waiting for his food. We went to the counter and ordered. I had a modified "Three Piece Suit". This dog comes with chili and either shredded or melted cheddar plus onions. I had it with chili, melted cheddar and substituted carmelized onions for the raw ones. My husband ordered a dog with brown mustard and sauerkraut. We both got combos which come with fries and a soda. In addition, we decided to try a side of their mac and cheese. All this food came to $20 plus change. The food is made to order so after ordering you get your soda and pick a place to sit. The sodas are Coke products which includes 4 varieties of Gold Peak iced tea. I got a cup of sweetened green tea while my husband got a coke. Now for the food --- The mac and cheese is made with ziti. It is in a sauce that, to me tasted like a Bechamel sauce. (I wanted to ask what it was but business had picked up and they were busy.) The cheese used was shredded cheddar. We both wished that there was less sauce and more cheese. The sauce had a slightly bitter undertone and my husband noted that it could have used a little more salt. Still, it wasn't bad---we're glad we tried it but will pass on it next time. The dogs come on a grilled New England style hot dog bun. For us two MA natives, that took us back to our childhoods :)! We both thought the dogs were good quality meat. I liked my chili dog and was very impressed that they didn't overdo it with the chili and cheese plus the chili had some kick to it. As a result, the dog was easy to eat---no chili and cheese falling all over the place. I'm glad I switched to carmelized onions. Unlike raw onions, they complimented the dog and other ingredients rather than overpower it. My husband liked his kraut and brown mustard dog. He thought the mustard portion was just right. We liked the fries---crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. We will be back! And to all you hot dog fans, I say this [with apologies to Horace Greeley] "Go west, hot dog fans!" --- you won't regret it!

Very tasty hot dogs, fries, and onion rings. The beef sliders were exceptionally good. I was pleasantly surprised to find 3 interesting craft beers on tap. Combine that with the friendly and helpful staff and you've got a place we'll be frequenting often.

Pretty good experience overall. A little pricey but that always comes with local/grassroots. I had a locally sourced lamb dog from Fields of Athenry in Loudoun. I got the combo with side and a drink for $15+ because of the up charge for the draft - $1.50 (Face Plant from Lost Rhino in Ashburn). Tomatoes on the dog were in .5" wedges. A little too thick, and when you take a bite they tend to come out completely. The mint sauce was great, even though I doubted it at first. As my side I went for the Haute fries. Wow. Drizzled with sriracha and curry ketchup. The perfect heat, in my opinion. And it automatically came with a fork. On point. Good meal, eh-eh location, but they have organic ice cream! Plus they're animal lovers, they're good in my book.

Ridiculously overpriced for what you get. I had a chili dog and I am certain the chili came from a can as it it was bland and kind of disgusting. The fries are good, but also a little bland. Good luck finding a seat as every time i have visited not only is the seating limited, but there is always some sort of maintenance going on in the back, closing off those tables. I really do not understand what this place has going for it, the food is crap, the service is so-so, and the prices are outrageous.

A solid hot dog if you are in the mood. A cut above the norm. Inventive toppings. Sweet potato fries are meh. Nice people. Nice service.

I can't believe I passed this place up when wanting lunch dozens of times. I finally decided to give it a try and they now have a loyal customer. The food is amazing and they have tater tots :) I will be here a few times a month and I recommend this place to everybody.

Thought the place was great! I got the burger (full sized not the slider) and it was yummy. cheesy fries OTS. YUMM. Kids got the slider and fries. they seemed to enjoy it but they were still a bit hungry after (they are 7 and 9). I think they just wanted more fries... I liked that they have a video game (for free) in the back! awesome. totally entertained the kids and made me want to hang out a bit longer. service was fast and friendly. overall I enjoyed it and liked that they gave a portion of this evening proceeds to my friends charity. thank you!

There were many things I liked and would have liked better about Haute Dog. Things I liked were first of all the hot dogs themselves, which they grill on a flattop griddle. Good flavor with a great "snap", or crispness, when you bite into them. I'm also a fan of the grilled split buns, which are warm, crisp and buttery. The menu has a great deal of variety, which is good when you'd think that a hot dog could be a one-trick-pony. The service was friendly. However some of these things work against them. The hot dogs, buns, and cooking methods are in conflict with their menu and they realize it. For instance, their Chicago Dog has the right toppings, but should be a steamed Vienna Beef hot dog on a poppy seed bun. They know this, which is why on their menu they point out to Chicago purists that they are "Chicago style". Likewise, the Coney Island dog had the basics down (sauce, brown mustard, chopped onions) and was good, but the sauce was more like a dry chili than the traditional "Texas wiener" sauce of the Northeast and the dogs I grew up on were deep fried and used a regular untoasted bun. The prices are also kind of high, running from about $4 for just a hot dog and around $8 for a combo with a side and drink. Most of the hot dog places I'm used to going to charge more like $2.50-2.75. If you're looking for authenticity, you'll be disappointed. If you go in knowing it won't be exactly like back home, but a good approximation, you'll enjoy it. The prices could come down $1-1.50, as they are just hot dogs after all, and would probably get another star of me.

I went back this past weekend with the crew and my sister. A year to the day later. And this time, I wanted to give this place a real shot. Then balked at the price. It's the only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star (and the fries, see below). Decor is still the same but now it seems cozy. We came after the lunch rush so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. And the staff was just as friendly as before. I ordered the 2 hot dog special so my oldest one, who is 11, and I could have one each. The 3 year old was more interested in Pacman. So I ordered a mac and cheese for the 3 year old and the 10 year old to share. Last year when she was 9, she made the comment she didn't like hot dogs. And at the tune of $5+ for a kid meal each, I remembered clearly to order something else. This visit she complains she wanted a hot dog and she always liked them. I'm so glad I Yelp to get this stuff in writing. And I get a small order of fries, my hopeful attempt at liking their fries. I get the hot dog and my oldest complained I put grilled onions on it. I tell her to scrape off the onions, but according to her it's contaminated. Whatevs. So she takes her money to get herself some nachos. So I had the 2 hot dogs and it was delicious! Truly! Here's the scoop: buttered bun with slight crisp, hot dog cooked to inner and outer perfection. The grilled onions were just right. Not caramelized or greasy, yet not crunchy either. There's only one other place in the world where I adore a hot dog and it's nowhere in my area. So I thought. Now I have a local place to eat one of the best hot dogs I've ever tasted. It was so savory. And I glanced somewhere on the menu it's all natural beef, no filler. Awesome. The fries. It's a shame a hot dog that tastes that good should have such an underwhelming partner. Just sad. Where the hot dog was perfection, the fries were everything they shouldn't be. Overly cooked to near burnt, steeped in grease, with little to no flavor, and random moments of crunch. No kid had more than 3 fries before gently glancing away at the sadness. The mac and cheese, the 10 year old pronounced as good. The 3 year old had a few bites and went back to Pacman. Glad I didn't get the over priced kid meal. Oh and in case you wondered did I offer the hot dog to the 10 year old and 3 year old? I did. And both said no thanks. It's in writing and the internet is forever. My true and only gripe about the place (outside the sad fries) is the regular menu needs the prices down a dollar or two. For the food I quoted: 2 hot dog combo with a fountain drink, small mac and cheese, small fries came out to $16! If I had treated everyone accordingly with their own meal, plus drink, plus my meal, it would be a lot. I don't live far from Purcellville, but I could never justify to myself to spend so much on fantastic hot dogs and pitiful fries. Mind blowing hot dogs and serviceable fries could get my payday money. Add that with reasonable prices and we might be the regulars in the back table on Fridays.

Good hot dogs and fries. I have eaten here a few times and have not been disappointed. The only downfall is the price. You are looking at around $10 for a standard hot dog, fries, and drink. Price aside, the food is fresh and tasty.

Good food. But way over priced for the amount and quality. Don't you realize it's hot dogs. I can get that same thing for $1.99 at 7/11.

This review is after about 6 visits to HD and LF. I like hot dogs, and will go back. I like the variety of dogs they have. I like the fried dawg. I like all the condiments they have. I really do like a good dawg. And this is the only place I know of in Purcellville even TRYING to present this fine, all-American dish--underrated by many, far and wide. Here's what I don't like: the fries. Good news is that they use fresh taters, and I think they make 'em from scratch right on the premises. Bad new is they are horrible. Lemme nutshell it: imagine trying to take a superlong fry, completely limp and greasy, and trying to dip it into your little cup of ketchup. Well, I am here to tell you I have mastered it! I am offering this suggestion to future diners, so they are not reduced to the uncivlized method of forking their fries! Since your fry is so limp that you cannot actually push it into the ketchup, you must perfect a method whereby the gravity of the falling fry actually plops into the ketchup, with sufficient force to actually coat about an incha fry. First, in your left hand (assuming you are right handed) take up yer little plastic cuppa ketchup and hold it real steady-like. Then with your right hand (still assuming you are right-handed--I have no idea if this method will succeed with leftys--take aholt of one end of one fry. Raise the fry to a height about as high above yer ketchup as the fry is long, and point that end up toward the ceiling... I know, I know... It's highly counterintuitive, but if you want to eat the fries at HD, you will have to trust me. This actually works. I have actually perfected this over several several visits to HD. The fry will then fall over and point straight down, remarkably. We are talking about an incredible 180-degree bend in yer fry without it breaking! So far, everything has been easy. You really cannot screw up the first part. But this is where the tater hits the red. You must bring yer ketchup cup up under the falling fry in such a way as to allow the weight of the grease and tater to actually drive the fry down into the ketchup. You can do this. Keep working at it. Now the fun part: Since you cannot actually point the ketchup end toward your mouth, as you are used to with some other fries, you will have to maneuver your face up under the business end, and hit the hole in your face using only the force of gravity, without missing and getting the stuff into your mustache or dripping red stuff on yer collar. This method takes some practice, motor-coordination, and timing to perfect. Now, if there were a lotta short little crispy fries, this would be considerably easier for you. But the Haute Dog and Limp Fries variety are generally very long, and softer than a limp.... well never mind. Having attempted the fries there several times now, I *think* they actually INTEND to make Haute Limp fries. But I desperately wanna be wrong, on accounta how nice it would be to have crisp, fries to go with my dawgs. But hey, for all I know -- limp fries may be the new, stylin' thang. Now on to the dog. Mmmm..... good dawg! But I would change one thing. My dawg (I dunno about your dawg), my standard dawg comes with chili, mustard and onions. It is the dawg guage which allows me to compare dawgs to dawgs. This dawg is fried some. The roll is also grilled/fried some. Dawg is laid into bun. Condiments are applied. The result is plenty good. I like them fried dawgs. But HD & LF's dawg style and engineering technique means that a too much of my onions chili is gonna end up falling off my dawg! I HATE when that happens! Now the man in me wants to fix everything, and since this is my own home town's dawg, I do wanna be able to get all them nice cruncy, oniony pieces of goodness, so well balanced by HD and LF's construction crew, into my mouf at one time, instead of in... well... in courses. The bite being the first course, and the spoonfulla of onion and chili, being the second course. I am thinking that this mayhaps be remedied by ordering my next dawg's bun untoasted. I spec that's the solution, and hopefuly one which will increase my stars awarded to the place. Them fries? Well, my bet is that either they're a mistake, or from too low a temp in the fryer, or someone's idea of a new take on fries. But my guess is that McDonald's fries have prove pur-ty conclusively that most people prefer crisp. Owners, if you're reading this, I would be interested in reading your reply re: the fry.

Lobster roll! End of discussion. Just kidding, but I do love the lobster roll. Just a tiny amount of mayo, some salt and pepper, a fresh roll and tons of big lobster chunks. Good fries and an interesting dog/sausage menu. I like the decor, the old school video games and the service is friendly. Prices are a little expensive, but they make up for it in quality and volume. Now I've just gone and made myself hungry. *sigh*

We went here with our 4 kids and the food was mediocre. High priced for what we got. It was crowded, there was no seating available. It wasn't clean, the bathroom was very dim. My normally adventurous child wouldn't even go in there. Overall, very disappointing. I would only give this joint 1/2 a star.

I really like this place. I guess they specialize in hot dogs (obviously), but the sliders are great! The fries are awesome, too... very generous heaping of them. Not a whole lot of room in there to eat (seat yourself - 3 or 4 large tables, maybe 6-7 very small tables). Very clean inside and the wall art (DOGS!) is cool to look at. In the nonexistent Purcellville food scene, Haute Dogs is a good casual option.

I've been wanting to try this place after reading all the rave reviews, but while I can't say I had a bad experience, I just don't get the hype. I stopped by at lunchtime on a weekday with my 2 daughters. We were hungry, and the total ended up being $27. For hotdogs. Seems a little steep. The dogs were just ok and the fries were certainly nothing to write home about. I don't think I'll be back. If I want a good dog I'll go to windy city redhots. If I want a 'meh' dog like this one it could be obtained from Sonic for a lot less money.

Lucky Purcellville. Haute Dogs & Fries is a hella cool little spot I wish were closer to DC. My dentist happens to be in this sleepy little Loudoun hamlet, so for the last 12 years I've found myself cruising the main P-ville drag at least twice annually (don't be jealous now). I'm always on the lookout for lunch spots with which to negate my cleaning afterward, and this visit I picked HD&F after reading about it on Yelp. I'm really glad I did. First off, it's a small, cute joint in the Bloom strip mall. Bright red walls, zebra stripe accents, chrome and vinyl bar stools, black-and-whites of the voluptuous Marilyn Monroe and the doe-eyed Audrey Hepburn, old-school covers from fashion mags, campy paintings of dogs, and a chalkboard menu create a hip, vintage atmosphere. There's also live music some evenings, which is hard to believe since the space isn't huge, but a good idea nonetheless. Secondly, the service was small-town friendly. It's a counter joint, so you place your order, find a seat, and wait for your name to be called. But co-owner Pamela at the register is fresh-faced and cheerful, and co-owner Lionel at the grill is welcoming and chatty. After inhaling my dog combo, I struck up a convo with him. He told me they've been open about a year and are enjoying a brisk business which I'm happy to hear, because I love local mom and pops. And Lionel was genuinely pleased and demonstratively thankful when I said I'd made a point of stopping at HD&F to check it out after coming from Alexandria, which is always appreciated as a customer. Third of all, the food is quite good. And *cheap.* AND they have a veggie dog option: Smart Dogs...which I make at home, but the point is they *offer* it, and I'm way too lazy to put all the fun toppings on that HD&F does anyway. À la carte dogs are little more than $3, and combos including hand-cut fries and a fountain drink are little more than $8. There are a dozen hot dog options from the Marilyn Monroe Bombshell with caramelized onion, pineapple, mango, and jalapeño, to the Fenway with ketchup, mustard, relish, and onion. Or you can create your own from any of the toppings they offer. HD&F also has fish and chips, nachos, sliders, grilled cheese, ice cream floats, dessert dogs, and a variety of artisanal sausages -- like bangers, brats and kielbasa, and merguez -- all locally sourced right from farms in Loudoun County. Farm-to-table mentality at a *hot dog* restaurant? Yes, please. I chose a N.Y. Reuben Dog with a veggie hot dog, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing. I made it a combo and was happy I did. The hand-cut fries were tasty and thin and came out golden. While they could have been a *bit* crisper, the real potato flavor shone through, and I loved that the skin was still on. My N.Y. Reuben Dog was really enjoyable, too, served in a Lobster roll-esque, split-top bun that was nicely grilled inside and out. The 'kraut was perfectly sauer, the dressing didn't overwhelm, and I could taste the veggie dog under all its clothes. For 8 bucks, it really hit the spot and I left satisfied. Haute Dogs & Fries is an excellent, fast option for lunch in Purcellville. On weekends they also serve breakfast (with locally sourced products, of course). Can't wait for my next dental appointment. And I don't say *that* often.

What is not to love here? Sweet potato fries? A respectable beer selection? Now they are serving sausages? I never eat hot dogs at home because I can't justify buying a pack ... This place is cool, fun, and different. Much more of this, much less MacDonalds. Solid 5 stars from me.

I finally got around to trying this place. I had been driving by this place over and over again. I finally decided to go in. It's not very big inside, so when it gets busy, you'll have to take it to go. When you first walk in, you look at the menu and someone takes your order. I decided to get the Coney Island and the Chicago, some fries, and a drink. The cashier gave me my cup and I walked over to the fountain and got my drink. Now these dogs are prepared as they are ordered, so it will take some time. Don't expect to get it right after you order your food. Well my order came out. Right away I had a little beef. To me, the Chicago Dog was misleading. They could have called it a Chicago Style Dog and it would have been better. A true Chicago dog, is served in a steamed poppy seed bun, neon green relish, and sport peppers. This dog came out in a toasted split top bun (like one for a lobster roll), regular relish, and a pepper not a sport pepper. The tomato, mustard, onions, pickle, and celery salt were fine. Overall the taste wasn't too bad. Not quite a traditional Chicago Dog, but o.k. The bun really did make a difference. The toasted bun was actually good, I thought it worked good with the Coney Island dog. I thought this one tasted better than the Chicago Dog. The fires are all hand cut. These were crispy and hot when I got them. They tasted great. Overall I think this place is pretty good. I'll come back here and try some of their sausages next.

I love hot dogs done right and Haute Dogs did not disappoint. A little pricy for a dog but hey..what do you expect the cost was well worth the fresh sides and I loved the choices or you could create you own combination.

Haute dog is awesome! Went for my first time today and had the coney dog with grilled onions and slaw, it was AWESOME. The bread they use for buns is killer, and the hotdogs themselves are the snappy, beefy, good kind. I also had an order of the onion rings with chipotle mayo...sooo delicious and crunchy. Service is super friendly and the environment is really fun. I'll absolutely be going again!

After having my fries thrown on the counter, scooped up and served to me last time... I decided to give it another try. I like to support local businesses. This time, the fries were BURNT, greasy and tasted of old burnt oil. The hot dogs are super skinny and small... Not worth the high price. My son actually went home right after eating here and ate spagettios. Staff was kind rude (Sunday afternoon girls) and generally unknowlegable. Second strike and they're out. I'd rather spend my hard earned money elsewhere - where I get good service AND good food... Is that too much to ask?

Love, love, love the layout of the place and menu. Superb quality dogs and they are so legit. I'm a sucker for Chicago style dogs and it's refreshing to see a place do them right. (Ketchup on your Chicago dog? Get the f- outta here with that shit) Lots of bang for your buck. I'm hardly ever in Purceville, but this is a no-brainer visit when I am.

I didn't realize a hot dog can be SO good! My 3 yr old ate his entire meal & wanted another hotdog. I shared the fish & chips & a hotdog with grilled onions, chili & cheese with my best friend- both were good. The fries were hot & great! Friendly service. I love the decor!! Next time I wanna try the lobster roll. (they were out) the bun they use is so good and I love the natural casing on the hot dogs (made from a local butcher, I think?) Definitely worth the drive!!!!

Great all beef dogs and fries. Good selection of beers. Now have added various sausages to the menu. Don't miss the sweet potato fries. Constantly adding new items to their menu. Friendly owners and staff. They make a point of learning your name and how you want your dog. They've recently added ice cream and now for winter, hot chocolate is back. If you're out and about in Purcellville and need a quick bite, stop in here. You're sure to return.

Checked out this place on a Friday evening. Not overly crowded, the walls covered in pictures of Marilyn Monroe and dogs, the staff is friendly, and the place itself is neat and clean. I couldn't not get a hot dog w/fries here! It's a bit pricy at just under $10 for a combo. The hotdog wasn't any different from your ordinary hotdog, but the fries were really good! Not too salty, crispy, and just the amount of grease that made them perfect! I would definitely frequent this place again if I'm in the area or it opens up a little closer to home...Herndon/Reston! It's a very kid, family, and even pet friendly establishment.

Amazing hot dogs - make your own or order a speciality. I love the Chicago dog. They have sausage and lobster roll. Only critique is the price - about $10 for single dog, fries and drink. But quality is outstanding.

While we were impressed with their hot dogs, the fries, we were not impressed with the dishonesty of the cashier we encountered today. This mid-age heavy makeup lady welcomed us with a bright smile when my daughter and I walked in. This is our first time visit and I knew we didn't look like locals. We ordered our food, but only my daughter ordered a drink because we don't drink much soft drinks, so we usually share. When this lady asked me if I want a drink, I told her no. I only wanted a sweet potato fries. When I paid, she gave my daughter her paper cup, and my daughter took it to the soda fountain. Not until I sat down, my daughter came back with the drink and I realized there were two paper cups. Then I looked at the receipt, I was charged two drinks. At that point, I knew that lady was dishonest. When I paid, I paid with cash. While I was counting my changes, I put a bunch in front of her and counting, I realized that I might want to give more pennies instead of giving out the dime, so I reached to my coin bag to get more pennies (at this time, there are more than enough changes on the in front of the cashier lady), not because there were not enough change, there were actually more, but I want to used my pennies. This lady grab all the coins and said,"this is enough" while I clearly counted more than I should have paid in front of her and told her that I wanted to use my pennies. I did not want to argue with her for few changes, so I just left to find a table. When my daughter returned with two cups, I realized that we were charged two drinks, I know I am not coming back here. The hot dog maybe good, but this place left a bitter taste in my mouth afterwards. Besides, for a hot dog, they are expensive. But I like their buns and fries. If only for the food, I'd give a ; for the honesty and costumer service, they deserve 0. Average out, there is their two stars.

Proper dogs. Ketchup it's verboten -- they have it, but you have to eat it outside if you want it ON the dog. Excellent pickles and the buns are absolutely fresh. Highly recommended.

I love a family owned and operated restaurant. Came here for lunch today - my husband got the Chicago ("absolutely perfect") and Reuben ("good too") and my brother-in-law got the Country Bratwurst ("excellent"). This may seem counter-intuitive, but I don't actually like the taste of hot dogs, so I ordered mine smothered in brown mustard...and that's exactly how they were brought out to me. I also ordered the nachos with cheese and extra jalapenos only, and it was delicious with really fresh tasting chips. The hand cut shoe-string fries are also very good. Service was great, everyone was really friendly. Will definitely be back.

It was fine, but I was just a bit underwhelmed after all the good reviews and positive press. It's a trek so we tacked it on to an outlet run and even then it felt like it wasn't worth the 10 minutes past Leesburg. The dogs were fine, the toasted buns were nice, the toppings we got were ok, but really not all that earth shattering. We each got a dog and some fries and for a big guy like myself that really wasn't enough. If I were to go back I think I'd have to do 2 dogs and a side.

Four stars. Has the potential for true greatness. It's located in a strip mall and there's nothing wrong with that, just requires that you keep your eyes open because it's easy to breeze past. The place is on the small side and seats are limited, but the decor is inviting. You can order one of their signature dogs or make you own, they have a pretty good selection of signature dogs and we went for the NYC dog (mustard and sauerkraut) the Three Piece Suit (chili, cheese, chopped onions) and the Fenway Dog (Ketchup, relish, mustard, onions) The best thing is that they are served on New England style buns and while the dogs are served fresh off the grill a couple of things keep it from earning five stars. Mustard and sauerkraut is my favorite topping for a hot dog and if I hadn't seen the mustard I would have thought that it had been left off, definitely need to work on the mustard to sauerkraut ratio. I love french fries and was disappointed in what was delivered to our table. They did come out hot which is always a good thing but they were limp and soggy. I'll definitely be back for another round of dogs (and beer).

If you're looking for a fun atmosphere without the obscenely over-populated experience, this is the place for you. The staff is friendly; always up for a conversation with the locals. The food is fantastic. Yes, the dogs could be bigger - but hey, size doesn't matter ;) I love the toppings options! They have quite the selection and the first time I went in, the gentleman at the register (I assume owner) recommended the chili with the mango salsa. YUM! I now get two dogs, one with the salsa and the other with just chili. Eating in? Well, you won't be eating alone. The many dog pictures on the wall will accompany and entertain you. If you can't tell, I love this place!!!

Great dogs with a creative and fun ambiance in the eating area. The right place to go fir a good lunch or easy dinner if you're out in the country near Purcellville. Can't wait for the Alexandria store to open!

Just had a chili cheese dog and sweet potato fries. So good. The bun was "New England style" - no crust on the sides, and a split top. The bun was then grilled on each side. YUM. The dog itself isn't large, but has a great flavor. And - you can top it with any of the many toppings available - or choose a specialty dog. All seem to be the same price. There are also "artisan sausages" - I didn't try them. Next time!! The sweet potato fries had a light sweetness to them and some cinnamon. I didn't think I would like that, but I did. I ate the fries with a home made curry ketchup dipping sauce that was great as well (I wanted the wasabi aioli, but it wasn't available today). The staff and owner were very friendly. I thought the decor was fun - cute dog pictures. And it looked like a couple of pinball machines in the back. A very fun place with good food made to order!

I've been to this joint a couple of times now. Now, most people say that you can't mess up a hot dog, and not only do these guys not mess it up, they take it to the next level! They use the freshest locally-made dogs, toppings, and buns for their dogs, and offer dozens of varieties. Also try the fries and shakes, very tasty! As far as atmosphere goes, nothin' to fancy, but it's defiantly got it's own flare! It's kinda like '30's New York and the typical '50's diner put together, very cool! And both of the owners, Pamela and Lionel, are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Lionel once interviewed me for a cashiering job, and I learned a million and one things from that conversation! Also from time to time they have live music, which I have provided once and hope to do sometime in the near future. Definitely a place you wanna take your family and friends! 5 stars easily!

GREAT hotdogs, but very skimpy on the what makes them special--the toppings. Especially considering the price. If they improve that aspect they'd be 4 stars.

Went here with the man on a whim one day and we thoroughly enjoyed our respective meals. He had a hot dog (I don't remember the variety) and I took a chance on the lobster roll with sweet potato fries. The fries were great, and the roll was pretty good - it wasn't the mayonnaise-y type I'm used to, more of a tangy vinegar type dressing, but yummy and fresh-tasting nonetheless.

Haute Dog is fantastic. The dog was great, the Tex Mex sausage was great, the bun and the chili were fantastic and the fries were crisp, homemade and wonderful. The setting is nice, and all of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back. If we could do 4.5 stars, we would, and next time, we expect it to be a 5 star experience.

Awesome little joint! Scoring across two visits: The hot dogs have a nice juicy crisp to them, and they are served on split buns that are lightly toasted and delicious, I don't wind up peeling off most of the bread like I do with most store bought buns. The sausages are locally sourced and full of delightful flavor, and the red pepper on the italian has a real kick behind it. The fries have been a little disappointing both times, the top of the pile is hot and cooked decently but by the time you get to the bottom of the pile, they haven't held up so well and are greasy and a bit floppy... Never too salty, maybe a bit undersalted but the potato flavor shines through. Sliders are surprisingly great, the burger has an unusual hint of sweet behind it, and the char in the patties is mmm-mmm fantastic! The grilled cheese is reliable, yummy with the toasting, and ooey gooey full of cheese. Sodas are coke-brand and fountain. Prices are a bit up there but as long as the dogs, sausages, and sliders stay at this level of quality, we will be back.... But, I might skip the fries. I like the variety across the menu, but wouldn't mind a bit more. Food is always served right off the griddle and hot hot hot. Seating is limited, and there are a couple small tables outside. Ice cream available, just haven't gotten to it yet!

The absolute best hot dogs, buns, and fries for many miles! The all beef dogs are better than Fenway Park's! The buttered New England style buns rock - they remind me of home, of lobster rolls (which they also have!) and clam rolls. The hand-cut fries are so fresh and great tasting! I would eat there almost every day if I could. I'd recommend this place to everyone - and I have!

The tex-mex sausage was very good, had a decent amount of heat and great flavor. The kids liked their dogs too. There is plenty to choose from and should be something for just about everyone. The kid enjoyed the free video games too.

Incredibly fresh lump lobster wrapped in lettuce and surrounded by a soft toasty bun. Side of fries that are crunchy and brown and freshly cut from potatoes. Friendly staff gave great overview of an over-the-top original menu!! Restaurant itself has a great vibe filled with art and good music. A place you would expect to find in the city nestled in the small town of Purcellville. Highly recommend!

This place is great! The shop is on the smaller side but so are a lot of places in Purcellville. I love the design and all the pictures. The staff was nice and helped us with our order. There is so much to choose from and the hot dogs and toppings are just amazing. The french fries were fresh and were super yummy as well. I really don't know what else to say then just try it you won't be disappointed.

I visited Haute Dogs and Fries for the first time yesterday afternoon. The place had a very friendly atmosphere and it smelled great in there! I was overwhelmed by all the different types of hot dog varieties there were on the menu and the cashier was very patient with me. I must have spent a good 5 minutes deciding what to get! I eventually ordered the "Bombshell" a.k.a., "The Monroe" which had caramelized onions, mango, pineapple, and jalapeños. I also got the chili as a side. Well I was expecting a very delicious hot dog because of the name of the place and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. Not only did the hot dog taste delicious, the bun was soft and had the right amount of crispiness to it. It is a little on the pricier side for the size of the hot dog and one hot dog won't fill up the average person. But the quality of the hot dog was fantastic! My only complaint was on the chili. It was given to me extremely hot (indicating that it was probably microwaved) and I could taste that it was not made that day or they get it pre-made and frozen. The taste had a hint of spiciness but no real flavor to it... so I was pretty disappointed about that. Overall I have to say that I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and the deliciousness of the hot dog!... but I wouldn't recommend the chili.

This place made me fall in love with hot dogs, again. We were first timers - we had driven by a few times after grocery shopping but had never stopped by. It wasn't our first choice - we actually planned to try another restuarant but after getting online and checking out the reviews we decided to pass. My boyfriend has always wanted to try Haute Dog so I looked them up. The reviews were pretty positive and I was able to check out the menu on their website (which is convientently linked to Yelp's site). Our only trouble was deciding what to get. We tried the Trailer Park, the Bombshell, the Sliders, handcut fries and fried pickles. The service headed by Pamela and Lionel, who I recognized from the website was warm. We.ate.everything. Allll of it and it was delicious. The atmosphere was great and super friendly. I loved the decor. I really feel that I could have a good time eating there with my neices, or having a beer and a glass of wine (Fact: this actually happened. They serve beer and have a nice selection of wine. This is a plus.) while on a date with my boyfriend, or meeting a girlfriend for a bite to eat. The atmosphere and service is great and could carry any of those situations. My only regret is not leaving room for dessert. They do serve ice cream and shakes and we'll make save room for some next time. Bottom line: Lionel and Pamela serve great food on several (new to me!) different and delicious levels. They make the food fresh, right in front of you. Although we didn't try the sausages, we were happy to see that they support local business. We loved every bite and can't wait to try it again! Highly recommended!

Great place for light meal. Cool decor, bold color with lots nice painting and photographs. Hot Dog $3.50. Combo (with hand cut fries and soda) $7.95. Hot Dog is on the small side. Excellent sweet potato fried. Free pinball and pacman. Nice :)

Don't let the eclectic decor fool you-this is a good casual family dining option! What is lacks in decor, it more than makes up for in service, price and taste buds. Between my two kids and I, we tried hot dogs, a float, a shake and the french fries. Let me just say the fries were amazing. Perfectly seasoned and super tasty. The hot dogs could have been a bit larger, but you can top them with anything and everything. Peppers, onions, mac and cheese, pickles, salsa-you name it-they have it to dress your dog just how you like it! The kids liked the Rootbeer Float alright, but they LOVED the chocolate shake! To feed the three of us (and we couldn't finish all of the food) was $21, not shabby at all. It isn't gourmet, but it is a great alternative to a sandwich joint or drive through and will cost you the same or less!

I was lucky enough to see the Loster Roll special mentioned on FB last night and woke up craving one...I called frist to see if there were any left and Pam said she would hold the last two for me and my hubby, now that is service! I told her we were coming from Sterling and would be there in an hour. They were perfect, big chucks of lobster seasoned just right...so worth the drive...the menu is varied and i cant wait for my next visit...gonna try the Lamb sausage!!

This place is great. Food is good, prices fantastic, quaint, clean, fun. They offer a number of hot dog topping combinations and also have sausage choices to make your creation. We thought the sweet potato fries were among best we've had. The chili on the chili fries (and presumably, the chili hot dog) tasted out if a can. The preparation was a little slow, but in the end, it was worth the wait. It's delicious!

Had the Chicago and an Italian Sausage. If you are looking for authentic "Chicago" you will be disappointed. Grilled dog and bun rule that out; however, the dog was great and was a nice variation of it's relative in the Windy City. Italian was very good but could be better with sweet pepper or giardenera. Grilled bun was different but a nice compliment to both. Will be back for sure when I'm around Purcellville.

I tried this place a few weeks ago, and was pleasantly surprised. I have come to expect disappointment in every place I try in Purcellville. I was not here. The owner, who greeted me was friendly and helpful. The food was good. Fries were handcut and cooked fresh. Atmosphere was trendy but cool. The only thing I'd say it needs is a bigger dinning room.

This place is worth the drive if you are not from the immediate area. The menu is so eclectic, I wanted to try everything at once. They even have a great beer and wine list. My only complaint is that I wished the hot dogs were a little bigger. But, the food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The decor has a ton of character and I was shocked to find such a hip, trendy place like this in a non-descript strip mall in the middle of "nowhere" northern virginia. At least, that's how this area is perceived to most Washingtonians and Arlingtonians. But, this place rivals some of the best in DC/Arlington.

Good dogs and menu. Everything was hot and the tator tots were super crispy with a really good spiced ketchup. The Banh Mi hot dog was really good and the Chicago Dog was packed full and excellent. Buttered buns were awesome. Other dogs we had were great, as well. It is the toppings and bread that really make these great.

We ordered the NY Reuben, District Dog, Fenway, chili cheese fries and the haute fries. The bread completely dwarfed the hot dog and toppings. The bread is really good, but 25% too much. It seemed like the toppings kind of overpowered the hot dog too, but they were flavorful. The chili on the fries was bland and only brought to life by the cheese. Some fries were a little soggy, but the majority were tender/crispy. The haute fries came with ample mayo/sriracha - which is a very tasty combo. If I lived in Pucellville, I could be swayed in returning. What clinched it for me though, is the free arcade game machine in the back. I can't remember all the games it had, but there's Frogger, Dig Dug, 3 different Donkey Kongs, Pac Man and many more. The joystick is a little ticky, but hey, it's all free!

Went back for a second try and the food was delicious, fries perfectly cooked, and my grandson had a milkshake that was wonderful. My only complaint was that I should have ordered a second chili dog (not that I was hungry, but it was so good I wanted more!). Recommend for quality, price (especially with a coupon) and amazing selection, with some local selections.

My lady took me to haute dog because I've never been there before.. One word about sums it up... Meh ...it was not the greatest hot dog I've ever had... Had the bombshell.. It was just kinda bland with more of diced up fruit and veggies instead of a relish.. The bun and actual dog were good.. The lady got the Coney dog.. All you could taste was the celery salt.. On a side note the tater tots were scrumptious. So all in all.. A step or two up from a big bite only twice as expensive.. They do have an expansive selection... So next time I'll give a basic no frills dog a try and see how that goes

It was good, but I expected the sausage to be a little more since I'm paying $9 for it. Tater tots were great, extremely nice service, just again... Expected more.

After seeing there are 79 reviews of this place, and piles of pictures, I figured I wouldn't bother to add my opinion. Surely everything was covered. Right? Wrong! I don't know how everyone managed to do it, but no one mentioned the restaurant's signature hot dog -- the Haute Dog. They do a fine job with all their dogs and sausages. All seem good, some are excellent. But the Haute Dog is unique and wonderful. Same great grilled top split bun, great hot dog, fine mayo and mustard. The magic is in the Haute Dog RELISH. This is a proprietary, house made, owner recipe, onion relish that is as dark as mahoganey from the cooking and the seasonings. There are lots of nuances to it, but I particularly enjoy the slight touch of cinamon. The other spices elude me, but I think it takes them all to create the wonderful balance. This visit I also had a Chicago Dog. Now I have to tell you that they do take some liberties with a Chicago Dog, so if you are a fanatic about authentic, you won't be happy. But if you can have a little flexibility, their poetic license created a Chicago-inspired dog that was tasty and fun. Not in the same ball park as the Haute Dog, but good. To reiterate, order their Haute Dog. It is a unique vision of what a relish can do for a dog. I hope you like it. I bet you will.

Thank you LivingSocial, once again, for introducing us to a new 'eating establishment' in the far off town of Purcellville. Yes, we visit often because we have family here! I had googled Haute Dogs and Fries to find their website and to drool over their fabulous variety of dogs and side dishes. Their options are limited so come here either wanting a lobster roll or select from a variety of hot dogs and sides. We opted for 'hot dogs and sides'. I love their side dish options: tator tots, hand cut fries, mac/cheese, chili mac, and oodles of other choices. We chose tots and fries. I ordered the 'select your own toppings' and selected chili, cheese and potato sticks and the hubby chose the 'District D.C Dog"- Blue cheese, BBQ sauce, yellow mustard, chopped onions, dill pickle. Their serve the dogs in a butter toasted bun which was heavenly. The only reason for the minus star was that the toppings and dog were really small, and excess bun was left on the plate. I think if we can select toppings, then we should be able to taste and see the toppings ooze off the dog....that's just me! These hotdogs run about $5 apiece so best to take advantage of the special combo meals: Hotdog/side/drink for $8.5 All in all, it was a nice fast food dining experience and definitely worth it to use a LivingSocial deal.

Luckily I didn't come for the service, so the cashier who acted about as happy as Squidward to be at work, or the fact that he messed up my order when we were his only customers, didn't stop me from loving the place...the dogs are amazing! The buns are like fluffy Texas toast and the menu offers lots of options. It's kind of like Cold Stone, where you can be creative as you want to be, or you can get something the experts put together for you.

Not great. Over priced for small dogs IF you get what you asked for. Of the 5 things I ordered 2 were wrong, and my son was missing his juice. The food is definitely good, but will leave you hungry if you don't fill up on fries.

Although I am not the biggest fan of going out for a hot dog this is a great Purcellville establishment. The way they grill the buns makes it worthwhile. I like the huge assortment of toppings and dogs they offer as well as local sausages and sliders. The fries are really good and you can fill your own soda too. They usually have a pretty good special and Yelp! check in offers.

Not perfect, but good. Pricy for the normal person but it is Purcellville. High over head. I got the Plus the Dog. No idea where the name came from but a spicy mayo with sweet Cole slaw is a good mix. Onion rings were good but the fry and onion ring portion sizes have decreased over time. Fries could be better, they were limp not crispy but there are people who like them that way. OBO dogs were good but hot dog makers need to watch where the mustard dripps. Basically a little less than $30 for 2 people to eat dogs, sides, and drinks. No ice cream. Love the bread though, hot dog themselves could be a better type but that is personal preference to. They tend to get lost in the bun and toppings. I'll keep going back. Lobster roll next time.

This place was a pleasant surprise considering where it is located: old town/downtown Purcellville behind a McDonalds in a rather dead strip mall shopping center. Whatever you do, do not pass up on this little gem that has a very appropriate name and awesomely appropriate interior decor to match. The moment you walk in, you notice their love of dogs, both living and edible, in the form of art work and professional photos randomly but tastefully strewn about. Enough about the fanciness, lets eat some dogs. We tried the sweet potato fries that came out hot and crispy which is just how I like it at least. I'm weird and actually like these with honey instead of ketchup, so I was a bit disappointed to see the only condiment was ketchup, eh, I'll live. My girlfriend ordered the chili dog which was quite filling but loaded with tasty and spicy chili. I picked up something I never see at any other hot dog joint, the Bahn Mi hotdog. Logically it makes sense since I love Bahn Mi sandwiches from my favorite Vietnamese bakery (see Ba Le bakery in Falls Church). The hotdog came with the shredded carrots, cilantro, onions & sriracha mayo on a slightly buttered bun. I should have ordered 2, it was that good. Why 4 stars then? The price, you're definitely paying gourmet prices for these little sandwiches and they could have provided some more fries too, but they are tasty as hell, so stop by here. Oh yea, and they have milkshakes that rival that of Potbelly's.

We've become total regulars at this place... probably not good for my health, but soooo good for my belly. The staff is always so friendly and helpful and the service is quick. It's always been clean whenever we dine-in and the kids LOVE the free video games (which is amazing... only restaurant that will entertain your children for free so you can actually finish a meal!) And the food. I've never had anything bad here. The fries are hands down the best around, and all the dipping sauces are fabulous. Must try the curry ketchup and the sriacha mayo. I typically go with "the bombshell" dog, and have never been disappointed. My husband has tried practically everything on the menu and is always happy. It's hard to mess up when you're putting it all on a texas toast bun. I love the local/craft beer selection as well. If I had to give it a negative, I guess I'd say it's a tad on the expensive side for hot dogs and fries. For a family of four (children are small and usually split something) it's hard to get outta there without spending $40-$50. But I think the quality is worth the price and it hasn't stopped us from going. Definitely as casual as they get, but it's so perfect for a weeknight dinner out with the kids or lunch on the weekend. So happy to have this place in town!

I got the lamb meat dog, which was excellent! I did however get the mint sauce on the side, which I was glad that I did. The fries have a lot of flavor. If they could find a way to have them a little crispier, that would be awesome. Very nice establishment.

HORRRRRRIBLE service. It took 30 mins to get our food (just 1 adult meal and a child's) and 1 hour to get our shakes. I ordered everything at one time but ended up eating our dinner and still WAITING for the shakes. Unacceptable. Also the "chef" kept wiping his sweat away with a towel and never once changed gloves or washed his hands. GROSS

Stopped by on my way to Lovettsville to the Christmas tree farm yesterday. This is hands-down, by far, the best hot dog joint I've ever been to in my life in terms of how the total package tasted. Forget all the sides and whatnot, sure they have peanut-oil fries and all that stuff, which is great -- but if you're putting your stake in the ground as a hot dog stand then that's what you've got to focus on. And yep, these hot dogs are the bomb. Why? Well, to me, the bun really is the highlight of the package. No exaggeration -- the best hot dog bun I have ever had. EVER. I'm not sure where they get them or how they make them. I've seen the stand-up thicker slit buns before, but these are like Texas toast. Buttered up and toasty on the sides, nice and wide to hold lots of toppings. Somehow these buns hold tons of toppings without being messy or getting soggy. It's just perfect. The hot dog itself is delicious too. Perfectly cooked where it's hot, juicy, firm but with just enough firmness to it to have a great texture. Best hot dog meat I've had? Maybe not, but very close. I went with the Three Piece Suit, which is a dog with chili, cheese and onions. It was a tough choice over the chili 'n' slaw OBX dog. It was a delicious dog with really good chili. The onions were fresh and sprinkled across in just the right amount. My main complaint is with the cheese, which I expected to be an ooey gooey cheese sauce like you get on a coney dog. It MAY have been, but I think it was actually shredded cheese melted under the chili. I have seen other reviews say they ask you which kind you prefer, but they didn't ask me. Regardless, there was very, very little cheese on the hotdog. Like really not even enough to taste. Haute Dog is a real gem. Not worth driving all the way out to Purcellville for if you doing live nearby, but if you're going to be in the area anyway it'd be a crime to skip it. I can't quite give it five stars, however, because these are expensive hot dogs. I'm used to eating 3-5 hot dogs when I do a cookout, so $5 (roughly) for ONE dog seems really expensive, especially considering they didn't put much of one of the toppings on my dog. Notice they don't put prices on their website menu. If they did, I figure most folks would just go buy a pack of hot dogs. Great food, not so great of a value, decent service (pretty much just kids doing the best they can). Be warned that you're probably better off to get your order to go. There's not much seating inside, and what they do have is REALLY tight.

OK, Dorothy, I realize we are not in Kansas anymore but really!? $15 per person for an average burger and fries?! There were only 2 kids behind the counter and they were busting their butts, no manager and they just could not keep up. One family actually asked for their money back and left after waiting for some time. Where was the management? Did they not think a Monday night in P~Ville was going to be busy? We.couldn't even get mad because we felt so bad for the kids behind the counter. No whining or complaining from them but there should have been at least 3 people behind the counter. Cute dog decor but for those prices, I expect a little ambiance and more than a plastic cup for my $6 draft ale. Will not be back.

I want to love this place; however, I think it's completely inappropriate to require their extremely young staff (high schoolers) to wear sexualized messages on their T-shirts. Shame. Shame. Shame.

Good, but not super amazing. I love the unique menu and ingredients they have to offer, and the eclectic decor is pretty charming too. A few times I've been here and the dog and bun together were just a little too dry. Most times, there's just a little bit too much bun going on...either the bun is a tad too big or the dogs are a tad too small, but it makes it kind of awkward to eat as one bite-full is all the good stuff, and the second bite-full is just pure bun. The fries are also pretty limp every time I get them, so I guess they're supposed to be that way, but I think they're a bit too much so sometimes. I think they also must've increased their prices recently, which kinda puts me off of coming here that often. Again, they're good, but not $14.50 for a sausage dog, fries, and a drink good. (Plus $0.75 for chipotle mayo...which is definitely tasty and everyone should try it, but I think I remember this stuff being free before..) EDIT: Been back here a few times since writing this review, and the hot dogs seem to be a lot more consistent. They've added new things, the hot dogs aren't dry, and I love the new Haute fries! (fries with chipotle mayo and sriracha sauce!) I've upped my review to 4 stars. Bravo!
