I visited Texas de Brazil for the First time last year, while in Bahrain. And I hated it! there was sooo much meat and like 4 items at salad bar. But, it was all you can drink. so i guess people Loved that. Well, when they came to Norfolk I been thinking for a while to give it a second Chance. We decided to go there last Night for our 14th Year wedding anniversary :) instead of our typical Favorite Steak house (Ruth Chris) I made reservation (even tho mondays is not busy) Also before making our decision I got an email (i sign up a few days ago) For a complimentary Champagne toast or dessert for our anniversary. So i made sure I put that on our notes for the reservation. We arrived, and we where wish Happy Anniversary! by the hostess.. yay they read the notes. We got sit and Brent S was our waiter. He was great! very attentive! always refilling our water glass, and removing our plates. But i don't think he read our anniversary note :( The place is beautiful, clean and classy. The Salad Bar options are GREAT! i already love the salad bar! The Smoked salmon and the Shrimp salad! OMG!! the guys serving the meats where also great! the meat delicious!! the best! tender and juice Filet Mignon! i prob ate 2lbs of meat! I tried the Caipirinha (strawberry) suggested by Brent, and it was supper yummy! and the best part it was $5! So, at the end of our 20lbs Meal we got a visit from the manager, We told him everything was great, I mention it was our anniversary and he said oh you want dessert? I'll take care of that ! well, he never did! No champagne toast and no dessert :( even tho I could just buy our own champagne and dessert, the point is why send you a coupon for it if they wont do it.. :-( Well, That doesn't change that they have the best stuff (hopefully busy days is the same way) and the best food!!! i heard people saying $42.99 its too much, but really? you pay that for one piece of steak some place else. So its worth it! I guess they also Offer military discount! We dint know that till later, so next time .. I will def go back! when we are ready to eat another 20lbs of food !!

I don't know where to start. I made reservations for an early Saturday night evening, as my husband and I were treating his parents. We get there, and I check us in, and then all 3 of the hostesses stand behind the counter for a good 10 minutes without so much as a word to anyone in our party about what was going on. So, finally I asked if there was a problem, to which I was told "No, we're just trying to figure out where to sit you". Like I said, early dinner, so most of the dining room was empty. Whatever. Moved on to the service, which, having been to various Brazilian steakhouses all over the country and several other Texas de Brazils, was NOT good. It wasn't bad, but dirty plates were abounding, refills were lagging, no one brought us any clean plates and the waiter even spilled when refilling us and just left it. Also, the dinning room was packed too densely with tables so that it was difficult to maneuver and the acoustics were terrible. We couldn't even have conversation at our table because it was so difficult to hear. My husband and I usually make the local Brazilian steakhouse our regular spot, but this will definitely NOT be it. The food is good, but not worth the poor service and cramped conditions.

We went to Texas de Brazil during restaurant week and had a blast. I think the worse thing about this place is the wait time. I showed up at 5:30 to get on the list. We were told it would be an hour. Came back at 6:30 and was told it would be another 45 minutes. We were finally seated by about 7:50. That was annoying but we knew the endless meat would be worth the wait. AND. IT. WAS. First off the "salad bar" area is amazing. My first plate was nothing but salad bar items. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. Along with the salad bar she brought garlic mashed potatoes, fried bananas, and baskets of bread. Then the skewers of meat started coming around and they didn't stop. The Picanha was my favorite. Every meat was so flavorful, melt in your mouth juicy. My Brazilian friend was sad to find out that none of the US locations serve chicken heart but was satisfied with the Brazilian sausage. I got more than my fill at Texas de Brazil. I had a great experience but would make this a place I visit only once a year because of how much food is served and how expensive it is.

Enjoyed our first dinner here. Angelo was outstanding as our server. Very attentive. The meat was succulent and the dessert was outstanding. Will return again. We didn't have any problem with the wait- I made a reservation through Open Table and our reservation was available upon arrival. We feasted on lamb and mainly chicken since we tend to avoid beef. Excellent cuts and extremely tasty.

Finally got a phone call apology and a refund of $80+. And it only took 2.5 weeks, 5 emails, multiple unreturned phone calls and 2 additional in-person visits. The refund was owed us. We'd be out twice as much $ if we hadn't been diligent. But the apology made all the time spent and follow-up work that we did totally worth it. (sarcasm) Buyer beware.

Wow! Food coma! Normal dinner price is $42.99 but today I got $25off. Lunch is cheaper but less kinds of meat. The quality is not excellent but pretty good. Appetizer: vegetable sushi, smoked salmon, some kinds of cheese and salad Soup: lobster bisque, Brazilian bean soup Oils and vinegar: good selections Brazilian Steaks: pork tenderloin, Parmesan chicken, lamb chops, leg of lamb, sirloin, fillet minion, spicy sausage, etc... Drink: many kinds of wines, beer, soda, sparkling water, Dessert: cheese cake, ... Staff: pretty friendly and kind Most of food is really salty. I needed to drink lots of water. I couldn't reach their desserts unfortunately. Now I'm healing with tons of water and tums:)

Most delicious food we have had in Hampton Roads. Pricey, but well worth it!! We had an awesome waiter, Chris, who was friendly, welcoming and even took wonderful pictures of our party. For 42.99 per person, it obviously isn't a weekly venture, but the perfect place for an event or special occasion. To start, we tried the passion fruit Capirinhas which were amazing! I have tried this brazilian drink many places and this was by far the best. the salad bar was filled with fresh, delicious veggies, cheeses, sushi, and they even had lobster bisque which was one of the best I've ever had. All of the meats were delectable as well. No complaints whatsoever!

Meat, meat, meat. Go to town with your Atkins diet by consuming mass quantities of protein, ranging from medium rare to well done. Chicken, sausage, flank steak, lamb chops and leg of lamb, this Texas de Brazil has got it all. Quite busy on a weeknight, I had a ten minute wait but was seen to a table along the wall where I could see the gauchos making their way about the dining area and I could prepare for another round of meat. Salad bar is excellent with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella balls, spicy shrimp and more. You can totally go nuts here and while the experts will tell you to save room for more meat, it's hard to do with a quality presentation like this. Service was good but not great. Dirty plates got stacked and drink refills were slow but the guy was very friendly and helpful, bringing horseradish (try it with any beef) and mint jelly (try it with the lamb) on request. This kind of quantity can not be a regular thing. If you've never heard of the meat sweats, look it up.

This is a great place if u are a meatatarian like me. I love it. I have been here several times and to other locations. The salad bar is great. Love the rice and beans. I don't have one bad thing to say except I wish I could take my leftovers to go!!!

This is a is very beautiful restaurant inside. A few things to take note of: that even though it is a attached to Mac Arthur mall you can only get to it from the outside of the mall. There are no boots only tables and it is not stroller friendly as the tables are set very close to one another. There is outside seating that looks directly upon the Norva and gives it that Trendy downtown edgy feel. Food: The salad bar is absolutely impeccable and unique. The meat service is very good as well lots of choices. You may have to wait a while for something to come around that you were looking for and don't be shy to ask for more than just a slice! Our waitress was very helpful, nice and on the ball the restaurant manager also came by several times to check on us to make sure we were doing OK and that everything was to our liking. We were able to make it in time for happy hour and I must say that the drink offerings were very well priced and there was a lot of selection. I did not recommend this restaurant for young children based on several things the seating is very close to one another and there are no booths and definitely no where to park a stroller. Due to the fact that the restaurant is fancy and high-end, unless your child has a very well-trained pallet, I doubt that there would be anything other than meat that they would truly enjoy. (No kids menu: and no French Fries or nuggets) This would be a great place for a first date or somewhere to take relatives that are visiting from out of town it is both impressive and delightful unique and good tasting!

Pros: absolutely delicious meats, well stocked, clean, polite staff and decent free items like bananas in sugar, bread and mashed potatoes. *if you go on your birthday they offer free dessert and if you sign up for their email you can get $25 off of 2 dinners Cons: honestly, it was expensive. I think $42.99 was a bit steep. The beef was plentiful, but the chicken selection was slim. I expected a bigger salad bar selection and they should have at least more salad salad toppings. the lobster bisque was too spicy, had too much sherry, and absolutely no lobster. They also serve sodas by the bottle so it's not free refills. For what you get, $42.99/person is steep. $30/person would be more realistic.

Awesome atmosphere great staff and the food is just delicious. A real classy restaurant perfect for a date. For the negative reviews I say: there is a McDonald's close by... Go there , cause you don't know what you're talking about.

I went there for the second time this yesterday, and my entire family got food poisoning or as my doctor called it "food illness." We got done with dinner around 5:30, and 5 hours later I started throwing up every hour on the hour. I was still throwing up this morning when I went into work, I couldn't eat anything all day. I went to the doctors early this morning and the doc thinks I contracted a food borne illness. My daughter was throwing up at school, and the boyfriend wasn't feeling well at all. I think that was my last time at that restaurant. I can't risk it again... the food is great but after this fiasco I can't eat here ever again.

So what if I was wearing my gym clothes all up in there tonight. I was hangry!!! Okay, so maybe you can put on a polo and some jeans before you decide to feast in on a bunch of meats. After all, the place has got some hip and swank to it. 45 bones will get you a buffet of meats. Tonight, restaurant week specials brought this bad boy down to $30. A good deal at this price. $45? Perhaps a little more than what I'm comfortably paying. Reservation was at 9pm. Even then the place was busy. I don't think we were seated until about 915/920. No biggie. One thing I did notice was that most seating was arranged for parties of 4. Add one more like we did and you're that odd group that needs a party of 8 to leave so you can get a table. Now for the food... Overall, an impressive lineup of meats: garlic steak, filet mignon, chicken/steak wrapped in garlic, shredded beef and lamb chops. The garlic steak and filet mignon were on point. Both were cooked rare, tender and flavorful. I found the chicken and lamb chops disappointing because they were dry. The first order of shredded beef was the star of the night. Crispy, tender and enough fat on the piece to give you a heart attack while smiling. The salad and sides bar was a hit to me. My favorite item was the smoked salmon. That was a total winner. I did give the lobster bisque a try... Not my favorite. It tasted a bit sugary for me. Cool spot. Nice ambiance. Friendly staff. Very friendly. A bit steep in price but it's a good place to go once in a while. Recommended.

This place got 2 thumbs up from the teenager. More if he had some. He was thoroughly impressed and he said if he was a yelper he'd give as many stars as possible. Well. I've been there twice. The first time was pretty impressive. The second time there were some delays but overall the service was still good. Of all the churrascaria's I have ever been to, this place was definitely tops for me. The salad bar was phenomenal (even though you really shouldn't get full on their upscale offerings) and then the gouchos (name?) surround you with their meaty offerings. I've been to other places where they have seafood but really .. when you're going for all you can eat meat why bother with fish. If innuendos could talk .. hahaha This is definitely a place to go to if you are hungry. I mean really really hungry. It's a little pricey but overall if you eat as much as you should (lots and lots) then its totally worth the price. Ask for cheese bread. Then prepare to roll out of the joint when you've had your fill.

Visited Norfolk a little while ago really wanted to try this place. I must say that I am more than disappointed with the overall experience service was okay at best. Food had so much salt on it that your mouth puckered when you ate it. After mentioning to our server that our food was very salted she did tell us that they would cook our meat to order. This would have been nice to know at the beginning of the meal. Our waitress did realize that we were not thrilled with service or food and stepped it up a bit by the end of the meal. Management had nothing really to say about the overly salty meat except "Did your sever tell you that you can have your meat cooked to order?" Again this would have been helpful at the beginning of the meal. One person at the table and had dessert said that it was fantastic however for the price of the meal and pitcher of sangria it was not worth it to me. Was going to try the location opening in DC by where I live however have scratched this restaurant of my list of to do places in DC. Save your money not worth the price tag go to a local establishment that serves properly prepared food.

This review is well overdue.... But I'm glad I waited. I've been 4 times now, and feel like I have had a chance to get a comprehensive overview. I've also witnessed constant improvement! TBD is my favorite restaurant, ever, and I'm so glad to see Norfolk had the wisdom to get one of our own! First, I have to say that the negative reviews generally seem to be from people who just didn't understand the concept, or went during restaurant week. In my experience, you get what you pay for- every time I've tried a place recommended by scads of others, during restaurant week- I've noticed I'm not getting their regular menu. There's a reason it's cheap, and I've been constantly disappointed. I no longer bother. TBD email club gives regular discounts & personally I don't feel like they need to compromise the price for first time lookie-loos who expect the deal of the century. That said- is it Orlando? No. But neither are we, Tidewater! We are smaller, so is the venue. But also, so is the price. I paid more in Orlando 10 YEARS AGO and didn't regret a penny, then, either! The food is beautiful, varied, and constant. The salad area is always gorgeous, BEST bleu cheese dressing anywhere, and with such gorgeous & high quality meats, veggies, fruits & sides one could happily get stuffed on a single pass. Just tried the black beans on Father's Day: OMG, what was I waiting for?!? Then- there's the picaña! Heaven on a skewer!!!! I always try a variety, but this one cut of meat is reason to live. Always perfect, though if you want it a little more done- they will do it & not judge you! Everything is great- especially lamb chops (I only eat them here) & flank (incredible flavor). I swear the sausage is better here than I remember from RIC or MCO. Service- never had a poor experience, but it has improved every visit. Servers were all great, very helpful & just the right amount of attention. Carvers, well at first they have had a few that didn't seem particularly knowledgeable or overly gracious, but apparently management has weeded them out because they were ALL stellar last visit on Father's Day. It was especially busy so a couple of different servers were pulling team duty (we were informed upon seating) & it was fantastic because they all made sure we lacked for nothing & everyone was incredibly friendly no matter how busy they clearly were! We have always been visited by the GM, Carlos, and often by a secondary manager as well, to ensure things were up to expectations. On a birthday visit, I was surprised & thrilled to see a specially decorated plate for our (always insanely delicious & beautiful) dessert. All because Carlos came around & spent a moment to ask questions beyond the standard "everything ok?" And I felt he was sincere in appreciating our praise, and truly heard our compliments of the excellent staff. I know this is long, but if you've read it, I hope you get a sense of what a great dining experience this is- and it's only getting better!

This place isn't cheap, but if it were, it wouldn't have the quality of food or service that it does. I never thought that I would ask to get off the meat train, but man I got stuffed!!! Every single thing was great. The bisque, the cheesy bread and oh oh oh the meat. I think it was the braised beef ribs that blew my mind the most. You don't get the rib itself, you get a funky looking cut off the top. When I put it in my mouth it melted away and it took my heart with it. For a chain restaurant, it rarely gets better than this.

Very expensive I've been to other Brazilian steak houses which are less expensive and taste better. Paid around $70 for one person per dinner. Shocking.

This review is overdue. Came here on a Saturday night. Great atmosphere. Low lights. Not too loud. I'm going to cut to the chase. They have the best leg of lamb I have ever tasted. Medium. Tender. And they're not stingy. They will give you good size portions of your favorites. And if you don't get enough the first time, they come by frequently with the good stuff. In addition to the leg of lamb, I loved the bacon wrapped fillet mignon and the lamb chop. The only thing I didn't like was the sausage. It was nothing, but salt and grease. So I deducted a star for that and their weak drinks. They have a full bar, it would be great if they used it. I will definitely be going back for our next special occasion. At about $43 per adult, it's not an every week place for most people, but it's definitely worth the price.

This place is the tits. If you want to get the meat sweats, come here. To all the people who wrote negative reviews based on a coupon technicality in restaurant week (Rosalind B.), if all you're looking for is unlimited meat for a cheap price, go to Golden Corral with the rest of your fellow obese Americans. If you want unlimited premium meat that makes you want to puke and rally so that you can eat more, this is your place. The service is also the tits. They constantly bring you meat, and ask you what other meats you desire because they'll bring it to you right away. I can't imagine a better way to get meat in my mouth.

Holy cow. This place blew my socks off. Their 60+ item salad bar included not only salad, but sushi, grilled and marinated vegetables, various cheeses and meats, soup, and so much more! I tried the leg of lamb, lamb chops, top sirloin, flank steak, and filet mignon. My hubby had all of those as well, but also enjoyed the parmsean chicken breast. Everything was delicious and grilled to perfection. The crispy sear on the meats was the best part. I can't wait to go back! The service was top notch, from the servers folding our napkins in a triangle on the table between trips to and from the salad bar, to the attention to the level of our water glasses which were never left less than three quarters full. Our waiter was Sean S. He was very knowledgeable and attentive. Ask for him, and you won't be disappointed.

Fancy shmancy...well that's what it looked like as we entered. Very nice place from the bar to the salad bar and sitting area. Our waitress Hayley was very nice, knowledgeable, very understanding. The salad bar consisted of soups, rice, veggie salads, cheese and crackers. Once we got our salad, we turned the paper from red to green to start the meat and they were not kidding about the meat. So much selections and the meat servers we kind and there was one after another. Just make sure you tell them how you want the meat cooked and you are good. Overall me and my boyfriend had a great time. Thank you!

My wife and I tried the Texas de Brazil in Norfolk a few weeks back. Both of us had been to Brazilian steak houses in the past as well as a Texas de Brazil in Richmond. The Norfolk location is a step below them all. The food was great, but everything else was terrible, particularly our experience with the hostess. When we were seated, we were placed in a very small and odd corner that hardly had any room for our elbows. Halfway through our meal, a hostess walked up and asked me to move so she could get into a small hidden closet behind me... I stood next to my table for quite some time while she rummaged through the closet trying to locate something that she needed. What really got me was that she was very unapologetic and seemed to not give a crap that she was disturbing customers. I let the manager know when he came by the table at the end of the meal and he really didn't seem to care either. Overall, we were far from impressed with this location. We will make a trip to Richmond before we ever go to the Norfolk location ever again.

Heaven on earth for meat lovers. I'd eat here everyday if not for risk of cardiovascular diseases. Service is top notch. Leg of lamb is the bomb dot com. Their salad bar is quite impressive, and the restaurant is very nicely designed. Definitely worth the money.

Came here with a relatively large party. Talk about great service and great food. Everywhere you turned there was a server walking around with a different type of meat. Definitely a place to go to get your protein fix. Nice, classy ambiance. Though a little pricey, it is definitely worth it for those special occasions.

Let me say I love the chain itself, just not this location. We went here last night after the parade (actually beginning of December). The service was very slow. Other locations I have been to the meat is CONSTANTLY coming out. This one, not so much. My husband particularly likes his meat well done (absolutely no pink, I know it's a sin!) However, they bring out more rarer cuts of meat and when he asks them to bring out well done, some do and others say they will but don't. So for this place to specialize in meat, I think they should make more accommodations to those who just like to eat shoe leather meat aka well done (J/K). But really though. Also, the meat was EXTREMELY salty. Ok, this is not my first rodeo when it comes to Brazilian food. I know the meat tends to be salty, but sometimes it was as if I was just eating spoonfuls of salt. Not very pleasant. At other locations, their food was not this salty. Please cut down on the salt just a tad bit, it was giving me a headache :(. The service itself was friendly enough but as I stated, I love the chain and I know that service here can be impeccable. This location is no different and needs to step it up.

Pricey but well worth it if you can appreciate good meat! I enjoy the different cuts of meat cooked to my liking. Salad bar offers many options. This location has outdoor seating and some TVs at the bar. Full bar with a good selection. Great for special occasions and group get togethers. Like I said be aware of the price before you go in but again to me worth it. Service is great and desserts are good as well.

Ambiance: This is a great date night spot. The lighting is simultaneously low & well-lit. The music is loud enough to be audible, yet low enough for you to hear what's going on around you. Some 2-top tables near the rear of the restaurant have adjacent mirrors, which is great if you like to watch yourself eat (I did not). Food: SO. MUCH. MEAT. Leg of lamb, beef ribs, parmesean crusted pork & chicken, filet mignon, Brazilian sausage, and more. The variety of meat is almost overwhelming, so make sure to pace yourself if you want to try everything. Also, if you prefer your meat cooked a particular way, be sure to ask before they serve you. We were offered filet mignon from the "well-done" skewer, which was blasphemous. The salad bar had a solid array of items. My favorite selections were the pineapple carpaccio (thinly sliced pineapple), the lobster bisque, and the asparagus. Don't miss the sauces - there's mint jelly for the lamb, and chimichurri sauce for your everything else. I found some items to be bland - the tabbouleh salad was kind of flavorless, as was the couscous salad. Perhaps seasoning on salad bar items is lax because the meat is so highly seasoned. There were lots of tasty looking bread offerings, but I didn't see any butter (perhaps I missed it). Eating bread without butter for me is kind of like taking your kids to school when you don't have kids - kind of a waste. Service: If you're unfamiliar with Brazilian steakhouses, each diner is given a card. When you are ready to be offered meat, flip your card to the green side, and when you want a break, flip it to red. I know the restaurant is fairly new, but the meat servers could use a bit of additional training. We were stopped many times mid-conversation & offered meat even when our cards were flipped to the red side. Our table was also right next to a server station, which put a slight damper on the evening for us. It's weird hearing your server complain about his/her other tables, then approach your table with a pained smile to ask you how you're doing. All in all - somewhere between OK and Yay. A solid "Not bad". A fine addition to Hampton Roads in my book. Compared to Fogo de Chao though... there's no comparison. The 100+ mile drive to the closest Fogo de Chao is well worth the trip if you're looking for a legit Brazilian steakhouse experience

Upon coming into this resturant you are greeted with smiles and greetings from everyone that is working. We walked in and sat down at our table. The waitress was very friendly and we informed her that it was our first time and she was more than understanding and explained everything to us. Once we were informed with what is offered we got our food. There is an all you can eat salad bar and soup bar. All the salad bar items were fresh as well as the soup bar. Once we ate that we were presented with our entree options. Let's just say the food was delicious and if I could eat some more I would. The food keeps coming as long as you are able to eat. When you no longer want to eat the variety of meats you flip you circle down. Once your waitress see you do not want the meats she ask you if you would like desert. If you have room then please choose their carrot cake. It is enough for two maybe even three people to eat. I would definitely recommend this place to all.

This restaurant is OVERRATED & over price. I was not pleased with wait and notice bar tender was putting her hands on ice, straw, nose to rim of drinks and was constantly having her hands wear the customer mouth, exchanging money and NOT one time did I see her wash her hands during 1hour half wait. A few of the men were not pleasant when coming to table with various meats, salad bar was disappointing not many choices, waiter was unresponsive to request waited over 45min for mash potatoes that were NOT good. The attire does not meet the standard of business attire and no enforcement - very disappointing for the price could of gotten a better experience at McCormmick & Schmidts or Ruth Chris for price of bland meat. Do NOT recommend this to anyone for any occasion or purpose. They do not adhere to the red & green coaster...do not like.

Uhm yeah...over priced, not impressionable and we have eaten at better Brazilian BBQ PLACES. It is pretty inside but the tables and chairs are very close....I got bumped each time someone walked by our table. Maybe it was poor to mediocre because we went a few weeks after they opened

First time visiting Wednesday night. Food, servers and atmosphere were wonderful so, you may been wondering why I'm not giving 5 stars. Well, as we were leaving, I noticed a putrid odor once we hit the kitchen area. I thought someone may have "crop dusted" on the way out but the smell got stronger as we reached the bar area. I was heading towards the women's restroom when it hit me like a brick wall. I was a good few feet from the restroom door at this point when I realized that's where this horrendous odor was emanating from. I immediately ran towards the exit and the nearest trashcan where I lost my half of the $130.00 dinner. I know this is technically not the restaurant's fault, but maybe some better circulation in the bathroom/bar/front of the restaurant? I feel very sorry for the diners in the bar area.

We enjoyed this resturant very much. We went yesterday during the last day of Resturant Week. We loved the salad bar and trying new meats. The only downside was the waitress kept trying to sell us drinks eventhough we repeatedly told her we only wanted water. I understand she was trying to upsell, however it was too much. Over all it was a very good dining experience.

The Downtown Norfolk Council has updated the menu and has removed dessert. They have also promised to speak to management about the issue. Just be sure to check your receipt to see that you were only charged $30 and not the full price for the meal.

My husband and I are huge fans of Texas de Brazil and were very excited when they opened a restaurant in MacArthur. Unfortunately, I found our experience to be a bit lackluster both in terms of the service and the quality of the food. To begin with the meat service was okay but our waitress, after her initial visit, didn't come back to check on us at all. This is unacceptable when you consider that we were eating salty food and having to chase somebody down to bring us water after waiting patiently for more than thirty minutes is NOT okay. The quality of the meat was on par with the price but some of the items on the salad bar were just really bad. The prosciutto in particular had the consistency of thinly sliced plastic and for some reason, the pineapple carpaccio (which I have loved at other locations) was both dry and flavorless that night. The only highlight for me was the lovely lobster bisque...I would happily eat their lobster bisque for every meal. Overall, I will probably come here again but they will have to up their game if they expect a higher review.

My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary. While he was stationed in Texas, we visited the one in San Antonio and it was amazing (girls on trapeze grabbing wine bottles)! We were so excited to come to this one because it had just opened. Before going to dinner, I made sure to make a reservation online and sign up for their emails. We were able to get $25 off our bill, which really helped! This location is much smaller than the one in Texas (no girls on trapeze doing cool tricks) but still nice. The service was great, our waiter was very attentive. The food was amazing and cooked perfectly!!! I think we tried everything that came around!! Sometimes they would offer us meat, even though our coins were flipped to the "stop" side. I will definitely be coming back!!

Okay where to start. My BF and I were really looking forward to eating here. The salad bar was amazing.. we should've stopped there..... the meat was SEVERLY OVERCOOKED! We kept waiting for a properly cooked protein and we were sorely disappointed. The beef ribs had flavor, however it tasted like pot roast. We asked our server for lamb... we got our check instead, as the lamb never arrived. 5 Guys here we come! Completely overpriced and we will NOT be back... Not recommended at all!

Delicious food! Host fell short during our check in for 7:15pm reservations. Waited past 15 minutes and found out front desk gave our seats for mistaking the name with somebody else. Manager was informed and was very sincere and apologized about the situation and made it up with free deserts! This place is pricey but this is what you expect in a Brazilian restaurant and it's well worth for special occasions. Atmosphere feels kinda crowded so be careful around those guys with knives.

It was my first time here with my girlfriend, we had a reservation but they were able to seat us early. Which is cool! But we were seated basically near where they put all the dirty plates and stuff, and away from everything. It felt like the guys with the meats kept forgetting us. The salad bar was okay, but i feel like it's def a rip off if you pay 25$ for the salad bar alone. The meats were good, I really liked the flank steak the most and I usually don't like steak! But I didn't really get to try the other meats cause they never really came to us, and they were coming out slow. Even the waitress mentioned it and the manager gave us 15% off which is really nice. We got chicken Parmesan, and it was very bloody. I was confused cause I know they cook their meats medium well/ medium rare so I said something, and the waitress took it back and the manager came and apologized. He also brought us out more bananas which is great cause they were yum! Overall, the service from our waitress and the manager was 5 stars. But I just feel like I didn't really enjoy it that much because of where we sat and how long it took to come to us. Also I did not know they charge for water!! Lol. I got still and it was 6$. Screw that, I'll be sure to ask for tap. And their desserts aren't that great. But if you plan to get one and they tell you how they pair it with alcohol, don't do it. For a drizzle of alcohol on it they charged $4.50 on what seemed to be a frozen piece of cheesecake! I would give it another try, but considering the cost I think I'll commute to the Richmond location instead.

It was nice. Went for restaurant week so $30 for all you can eat. The wait staff was awesome! They were so much fun and really made it an enjoyable evening. The food was good, not amazing, but good. For $30 I would probably return again but not for the regular price of $43...

The food (especially the meat) was amazing. So much flavor and variety of medium rare cuts to choose from. Customer service was very polite and quick to seat us. The salad bar was borderline magical. Among a few items offered were sushi rolls, shrimp, goat cheese, soups, and various salad and dressing choices. Recommendation: look at the meat menus before hand so you can request to the meat server certain items you want. *sometimes a particular meat item will may come more often than other or might miss your table

Well. I am a fan of the salad bar. NOT the normal place a vegetarian would go for dinner, haha. However, I went with my husband so he could get his poor little lamp chops. I did order the salad bar option. The cranberry couscous was worth the 24.95 cost for a salad bar. They had wonderful cheeses and olives and a nice variety of veggie too. My husband loved his poor little lamp chops, and the service was very good. It is a loud restaurant and the tables are very close, but overall it was a nice new addition to the area.

I visited this establishment for the first time on 1/19/15 as a part of Norfolk's restaurant week where a prix fixe menu was offered for $30 which included the salad bar and the selection of meats but the dessert was not included. That was fine because the food was really good. My waitress was "ok". The servers were very nice but a little too eager because they would continue to bring meat after we flipped our indicator to red. The salad bar was decent but didn't have that much of a variety but it was decent. I wasn't too keen paying for soda refills but again not that huge of a deal. However our evening took a turn when one of the ladies in my party had a coupon for a free dessert. The verbiage stated that it was valid "up to eight people" Well it was 4 of us so based on the what the coupon stated, we ordered a free dessert. A couple of moments after ordering the dessert, our waitress came back stating that only the holder of the coupon could get the free dessert. The holder stated that the wording on the coupon does not state that. The waitress went to get the manager who also confirmed that the coupon could not be redeemed for more than one dessert. When she asked why and how the coupon did not state that, he said "I know, the wording is confusing on these coupons." At that time, the restaurant should have honored the coupon. I felt the reason the manager gave was inadequate especially since he admitted that the wording was "confusing". Our waitress came back and asked if we still wanted the dessert, Out of my party, I was the only one that opted to not get the dessert because the coupon was not being honored. While the rest of my party was waiting for their dessert, another manager (the general manager) came by asked how our experience was, the coupon holder stated that her dessert coupon was not being honored even though it stated it was for "up to 8 people". The general manager ultimately honored the coupon and took off the desserts. When it was time for the bill to come, I noticed my bill was higher than what it should have been. Well that was because I was charged for the full price versus the prix fixe price. I told the waitress this and she replied "Oh you have to ask for the restaurant week price" I was very taken aback by this response because Texas de Brazil only offers ONE option (other than the bar area's happy hour which did not apply because we were in the dining area) when it comes to eating therefore, I should not have had to ask for the prix fixed menu considering that the restaurant was the one that advertised they were participants of restaurant week. Furthermore, why would I willing choose to pay the $42.99 price instead of the $30 advertised price for the week? As she took our bills back the first manager (the one that did NOT honor the improperly worded coupon) came back and said "You can't use the free dessert with the restaurant week price". I sternly stated that did not apply to me because I chose to opt out the dessert so you need to adjust my bill. The rest of my party was clearly frustrated and had to ultimately pay for the dessert because paying for the dessert with the restaurant week price made their bill lower. Overall I wasn't pleased with my dining experience because of this incident. There was a serious lack of communication and an unwillingness to 1)honor a coupon that was poorly worded at the fault of the establishment, which was acknowledged by management and 2) Having to state obvious information such as wanting to save money by choosing to pay the restaurant week price versus the everyday price. I feel the only member of the establishment that acted appropriately was the general manager because he honored the coupon, however the coupon would have never been an issue for us if we were told about not being able to use the coupon during restaurant week instead of having to "ask for it". It was time unnecessarily wasted and Texas de Brazil needs to exercise better communication with their customers. I sent my concerns to the corp office. They have yet to respond which further solidifies that I will never dine here again. I'd rather spend the gas money to head to Tucanos.

This was my first visit to a Texas de Brazil. I have been to other Brazilian steakhouses before but nothing from this chain except for tonight. The meat was excellently prepared; I really really really enjoyed the top sirloin it was so great and tender. I also enjoyed the Parmesan chicken. Also good were the lamb chops. What I usually find to be a problem at these types of restaurants are the salad bar and additional sides. The sides were only basically other starches such as bread, rice, mashed potatoes. And the vegetables on the salad bar were all basically soaked in some kind of sauce or vinaigrette or mixed together. So there aren't any additional vegetables such as green beans or broccoli or spinach or anything to add to the meat portion of the meal. For downtown Norfolk, this place is extremely expensive. I have been to other Brazilian steakhouses that are approximately $10 less and they offer more so that is a little bit of an issue. I would save this place for a really special celebration.

My first visit to this place and I was impressed. I sampled everything in there menue at least twice. The did was great and the service was even better. They had smoked salmon on the salad bar and the she crab soup was great. I loved the lamb chops. The bacon wrapped (everything) was OK but the meat seemed little dry. I highly recommend this place. Oh.. Register on the website first and they'll email you a 25.00 gift card.

After eating at a Brazilian steakhouse this summer in Myrtle Beach (Rios) I was stoked when I heard one was coming close to us and made reservations for a Friday night around 7 pm. It was my boyfriends birthday and if you sign up through their website they will send you coupons. He got 1 for his birthday and 1 for being a new member that's only good Sunday thru Thursday. The birthday one was good on Fridays. Both 25.00 off. Great deal. We showed up right at our reserved time and were seated immediately. Right next to the kitchen and server station!! There are two tables right next to it and it was busy all night. The salad bar was on the other side so our entire evening was spent with people surrounding us. It didn't make for much conversation but of course neither does stuffing your face. The food was good. It was salty but that's how they cook it. You won't enjoy it if you are sensitive to salt. We both enjoyed our dinner... But compared to Rios which is cheaper (by 8.00 a plate), has better salad bar selections, and serves grilled pineapple that they slice for you just like the meat, I can't give it 5 stars.

Just came back from a meal and I liked it, but the wife was not so keen. Some of the meat is cooked slightly on the rare side. If you like you meat well done I would avoid the place but if your cool with pink then try it out. Personally it's not worth the price but I'm glad I went once. Salad bar selection is amazing but your not paying $50-60 for some lettuce and potato salad. Would I go back? No.

Welp. TdB has finally made it's way further south to our very own 757 area, how exciting! This TdB is in the old Kincaid's inside MacArthur Center. However, don't be fooled into thinking that you can enter the restaurant from the mall, like you could with Kincaid's. From the mall, you have to walk outside and enter from the street. Idk who came up with that layout but it's garbage. So, if you're going to the restaurant ONLY, your best bet would be to do valet parking on Monticello. Otherwise the closest entrance is the one by Dillards. It's dark in here. Like Aberdeen Barn dark. I find the seating arrangement to be slightly cramped. Especially if you are seated behind the salad bar. I was really expecting the seating to be similar to the Richmond location. I understand that they are two different spaces, however measures could've been take to make the seating better. Nothing is intimate about squeezing your way around tables and hearing your neighbors conversation in it's entirety. The seating was way better than Tuscano's tho. Please read my review on that restaurant. Service. ON POINT!!! From the hostess to the waiter and the men that bring the meat around. I counted 5 suits (management) walking around during our visit, presumably because this is a new restaurant. Our waiter was Jose and he was excellent. Now on to the food. Salad bar was delicious. They had fresh mozzarella, smoked salmon (it was soooooo yummy) fresh olives, Brazilian potato salad, lobster bisque (amazing) black beans and rice and a bunch of different items that aren't on traditional salad bars. They give every table a bowl of garlic mashed potatoes and a bowl of baked plantains. Meat quality is excellent. I enjoyed ALL of the meat with the exception of the parmesan pork and the parmesan chicken. Those were dry. All meat is typically served well done, but you can request your preference. They had lamb, bbq spare ribs, beef ribs, flank steak, garlic sirloin, filet, filet wrapped in bacon, chicken wrapped in bacon and Brazilian sausage. I'm quite sure I forgot something. I found all of the meat to be a little on the salty side. Could be that I'm sensitive to salt, but others in my party felt the same. The meat is prepared in the traditional Brazilian way, marinated with salt and cooked over an open flame. I was guzzling water like a camel in Qatar. Never experienced that in Richmond, but you can be the judge of that. All in all, it was good. It was my birthday and they gave me dessert on the house. Go check it out!

I had a reservation for Saturday night a couple of weeks ago, at 7pm, for 8 people, for a birthday dinner for my son in law. I arrived at 6:45, and was given a pager, and told that when all the people were there, to let the hostess know. We had a wait of 30 minutes for the large party, but they were newly opened, and they had a waiting line, so I can understand that. As for the food, it was all 5 star. It was worth the wait, and my son in law says it was the best steaks he had ever had. He has gone back again during the week. It was that good.

I would give this place more like 3.5 stars. My experience with brazilian steakhouses is limited to TDB in Miami and have gone to Fogo de Chao in Baltimore, so I'm not sure how much my opinion weighs heavily on these types of establishments. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time during Restaurant Week recently ($30 pp instead of the usual $45 pp). The restaurant adjoins the Macarthur Mall entrance and has replaced Kincaid's original location. Parking is a pain, because you have to park in the mall parking garage, then walk through the mall, exit the mall entrance in order to enter the restaurant. It inconveniently lacks a direct-inside-mall entrance, so you have to leave the building in order to enter the restaurant. I'm not sure if there is a fire hazard reason behind it, but I've never known a next-to-mall restaurant to NOT have a direct entrance. This issue became problematic after we left the restaurant after the mall had already closed (usually 9pm). The staff had assured us that we would be able to go through the mall back to the parking garage; but we ended up realizing after checking locked doors that we had to go AROUND the mall to the parking garage. And we learned the hard way (in the biting, wintery wind, mind you) that the mall actually has 2 separate parking garages, both of which you cannot access between the mall after mall hours, forcing you to walk the perimeter again....so needless to say, the end of my night was not the cherry on top at all. I had made reservations online for 8:30PM on a Satuday. When we arrived on time, we still ended up having to wait 25 minutes before being seated. I know that it must have been crazy with Restaurant Week and all, but again, I have never had to wait that long after a reservation to be seated...definitely not a way to begin the night either, when I think about it. The restaurant interior is what you would expect of a semi nice establishment, so I won't go into much detail about that. There is an open bar where you can sit at if you are waiting for your table though. It is pretty loud though, so expect the necessary dinner conversation volume to be much higher in order to actually hear the person sitting across from you. Our server was okay. She seemed serious and tired, but I imagine she must have been overworked that night. She didn't do or say anything to make any impression on me, good or bad. She simply earned an appropriate tip for an appropriate service. The food was pretty good, but not as exceptional as I had remembered it to be based on the other 2 establishments I had been to before. There wasn't as much variety as I was expecting (I remember towers of greens and other yummy sides at Fogo de Chao). And the table with the additional sides were all unappealing. The meats were fresh and well prepared, but only a few items stood out (bacon wrapped filet and the sausage). We noticed that there weren't many servers coming out with meats, and after about an hour we had only tried maybe 6 of the 13 or so meats listed on the menu. So my boyfriend asked a server what other available meats there were that night; that server immediately hooked us up with the other meats we had never tried, signalling the assigned servers towards us. Within 8 minutes we had doubled our repertoire of meats tried, and the 13th meat came out soon after as it was still cooking in the oven. Awesome service. Wish he had been our original server! Overall, it was just an okay experience sandwiched into some annoyances as described above. It was worth the $30 price tag during restaurant week, but I don't think it is worth the typical $45. There are far better restaurants that I would prefer to spend my paycheck on.

Meat meat meat and more meat! At one point I couldn't keep up with the frequency of delicious meats being offered so I had to flip my card over. But, apparently, that's normal and suggested. The thing with Texas de Brazil is "take your time" there is no shortage of food to eat. The salad bar offers several options for anyone dining. They have anti-pasta options, salads, soups, and potatoes. With your meat courses they give you some bananas (meant to cleanse your palate between meat samplings) and au gratin potatoes. I couldn't keep up with the many different types of meat they were offering, but I do remember the filet. It was so moist and juicy and cooked beautifully. They also offered a filet wrapped in bacon (which I couldn't eat because I'm currently pregnant and unfortunately bacon isn't sitting with me well) but my husband really enjoyed it. In fact, they had a chicken wrapped bacon that he really liked too. The flat iron steak, beef ribs, and pork were my favorite. My husband enjoyed everything and kept asking when we could come back. We also ordered dessert, to go because we were stuffed. He ordered the cheesecake, which our waiter said was the best he had ever eaten (like ever). I took a bite and it was good, but not he best I had ever eaten. I ordered the chocolate mousse cake (which was phenomenal). So why the 3 stars when the food was great? The front of the house was lacking in their service. We had a reservation for 8:15 and we arrived at 8:00. When we checked in, they said it would be 5 minutes. Ok, 5 minutes pass...10 minutes pass...now it's 8:15 and we still are seated. Don't tell me it's going to be 5 minutes when it's not. Tell me that we will be seated at 8:15 our reservation time. Don't give me false hope because when I see people walk in after us and they are seated before us, I start to think you are ignoring me, regardless of whether they had reservations or not. Bottom line, I really dislike when the front of the house tells me the wait will be one thing then I end up waiting until after my reservation to sit. I was asked 3 different times what my last name was when they were sitting other people who had arrived after us.

Great first visit here. Waitstaff on mark. Food was excellent. Water glass never empty. Requests were met promptly. The servers hit us fast and furiously delivering high quality cuts of various meats. From steak, lamb, pork and chicken we could not finish the.sample before the next service arrived. Great place for family or group gathering or even dinning with that special someone. Prices are on high end, but considering it's all you can eat... so come hungry you won't be disappointed.

Overpriced and dishonest. Went here last week with a group of folks and had a decent enough time, but I won't be back. It's simply too expensive for what you get, and our waiter left a bad taste in my mouth. The salad bar had a nice selection of antipasti and sides, but it wasn't worth the $25/pp price tag. The only actual salad options included lettuce, dressing, cheese, and croutons. The meat plus salad bar will set you back $43/pp, so you'd better be able to eat a lot of meat, particularly bacon-wrapped meat. I thought most of the meat was just okay, with the one very tasty exception being their house specialty, the picanha. Unfortunately, I didn't get nearly enough to justify the $43 pricetag. The service was good for the most part, but I was disappointed to see our waiter employ some trickery when it came time for dessert. He brought a tray to the table and instead of asking whether we were interested in dessert, had room for dessert, etc., he asked only which dessert we wanted. This led EVERYONE at the table to assume the various cakes, pies, and other sweet treats were included in the $43 meal. We all ordered something. When the bills arrived, we were irritated to see that each couple had spent an additional $18-20 that we would not otherwise have spent if the waiter had been upfront with us. That kind of trick might work once, but I won't return for that reason alone, and I'll be sure to share my experience with friends.

I had heard so much about this place and my husband wanted to go here for his birthday so of we went! I didn't realize that this is a chain restaurant. With that said, coming from working in the food industry I know there is some level of consistency and premade product had to be had. The atmosphere reminded me a little bit of a cheesecake factory type feeling. Let's not fool ourselves I think most people are attracted to the thought of all you can eat meats. If that's what you ate looking for, great. I would of rathered dropped that amount of $ at a real steak house for just one piece of quality meat along with some different sided. The lamb chops were my favorite here and the rest are OK. It was OK to try the place once but probably won't go back. The service was attentive and we saw the manager a lot. I respect that. So no major complaints just if you appreciate quality and unique foods, probably not the place. But if you want to shove a bunch of meat in your mouth, try it!

The food was ok, I have been to several other Brazilian food places same style and I believe this one that is also a chain falls short of what my expectations are. The places is also to cramped and service was horrible. Our waitress had a large table of 20-25 she was taking care of single handedly while trying to attend to us so naturally we got short changed. NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR LOUD ATMOSPHERE.

I've been here twice now... This was my first time at a Brazilian steak house and it was fantastic! I love what they've done with the place.. It has a nice atmosphere for those looking to get a little dressy (or not.. A nice blouse with jeans will do ;) food... Let's talk about the food! Everything was cooked to perfection. My favorite was the lamb.. Try not to fill yourself up at the salad bar! Everything from the presentation to the freshness and taste of the food was great!

This place is amazing, the food was delicious, atmosphere was beautiful and our waitress, Dominique was fantastic. My friend Kenya and I went for our birthday dinner, sign up on their website and they will send you a $25 off certificate for your birthday. We had the lobster bisque, salad bar, loved the thin sliced pineapple, the lamb chops and leg of lamb were so tender and melt in your mouth yummy our favorite! Filet mignon was excellent, smoked salmon was great, we both didn't like the parmesan crusted beef or chicken no flavor. We had their signature drink ciprihna I think it was called, I had the passionfruit and Kenya had the mango flavored. The carrot cake is to die for. The gauchos with the meat walking around were very friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant at least once you will really enjoy it.

The salad bar and food were awesome the meat is cooked perfect... The meat carvers come to your table and keep your plate full. The salad bar is awesome very well prepared. Only drawback is no waiting area to sit and wait for your table and drink refills odd but not a deal breaker. The place is pricy but worth it.

Texas de Brazil is an upscale chain restaurant version of a Brazilian Steakhouse. My wife lived in Richmond for a few years, and in that time became a huge fan of the Texas de Brazil at the mall in Short Pump. When we started dating, she turned me on to this place as well, and we both liked the experience so much that we would drive all the way from Hampton Roads to Richmond just to eat dinner there on special occasions (Texas de Brazil does a birthday discount). It should be clear that I'm a huge fan of the Texas de Brazil brand. Naturally, when my wife and I heard that we were getting a location in our area at MacArthur mall, we were very excited. Last night, we finally decided to check the MacArthur location out. Overall, it's still Texas de Brazil, but sadly our Norfolk location is just not quite as good as it's older brother in the Richmond area. Part of this review will highlight the discrepancies between the two locations as I saw them. Admittedly, some of these things could be considered nitpicky, so keep that in mind when you read this. Again, Texas de Brazil is a great chain. This location, like the one in Short Pump has an incredible selection of steaks, lamb, chicken, and pork brought around Churrascaria style by the meat servers, not too mention an awesome buffet for the non grilled stuff that includes everything from salads, to sushi, to cold meats and cheeses. The lobster bisque at Texas de Brazil is awesome. The meats and the buffet are all you can eat, so definitely plan your day ahead of time accordingly. They also bring a basket of cheese filled bread puffs, a bowl of garlic mashed potatoes, and fried banana to your table as well. They have fine selection of drinks, and their desserts are awesome too. My wife is especially fond of the creme brulee. All of this comes in a very premium and upscale package. The buffet is immaculately well maintained and clean. The meat servers are all well dressed and well spoken. And of course the quality of the food itself is outstanding, with only rare exceptions in my experience. Texas de Brazil is classy. My wife and I once went to Tucanos (another Brazilian Steakhouse chain) in Newport News, and being accustomed to Texas de Brazil, we found that experience severely lacking. Texas de Brazil makes Tucanos look like TGI Fridays. Texas de Brazil really goes out of there way to give you a premium experience, and in my opinion it's well worth the $42.99 price you will pay for the regular dinner option (Tucanos by comparison is much much cheaper). If you're not a meat eater, then just the buffet can be had for a mere $24.99. Now let's talk about Norfolk VS Richmond. The Richmond location, for starters, is either much bigger or simply seems that way. The Richmond location has a lot more wide open space. At times in Norfolk, I felt a little cramped. Walking from my table to the buffet area I was constantly worried about running into employees or other patrons, which is problem I've never had in the Richmond location. The buffet area is also noticabley smaller, which is disappointing, especially due to the fact that they seem to have been forced to omit some food items that I've come to expect from my experiences in Richmond. Nothing major, most of my favorites were still there, but it was still disappointing. Another very nitpicky issue my wife and I had with the buffet last night was the bacon. One of the buffet items is bacon that can either be put on salad or enjoyed on it's own. At the Norfolk location when we visited, it was severely under-cooked, we're talking slimy. Normally, at the Richmond location the bacon is somewhere between slightly chewy and crisp, here it was pink and slimy. Yuck. Hopefully, this was just something happening that night, and not the norm at this location. Again, this is all really nitpicky stuff, but at the same time, this being a national chain I was sort of under the impression that they would be delivering an identical experience. Perhaps I'm a little naive. Those were really the biggest differences between the two, that I noticed. Overall, my wife and I prefer the Richmond location, but our very own Norfolk version is still Texas de Brazil, and the differences are slight enough that we don't really have any reason to drive all the way out to Richmond anymore when we want our Texas de Brazil fix. The Norfolk location hasn't been open that long, so hopefully the areas that I found this location to be lacking will improve (although I suppose the size of the space is what it is). Again though, it's still Texas de Brazil, and it's in our backyard, and that's pretty awesome!

(Friday Evening Dinner-Anniversary Celebration-Party of 5) We've been to Texas de Brazil many times in Las Vegas and we enjoyed it every time. This was our first time at this location and once again we enjoyed the great friendly service as well as all the delicious meats they had to offer. Minus the fifth star rating since they didn't have the "Brazilian Alcatra" cut of meat. This was a meat you had to ask for in Las Vegas, its a special cut of meat. Brought to your table upon request only we were told. Though I loved the "Garlic Top Sirloin" here in Norfolk, not something that Vegas offered, deeeelicious!!!! I'm a garlic nut. As for the service, the gauchos were a lot more down to earth here, they weren't just on a mission to drop the meat off at the table and then quickly go to the next, they knew how to carry on a short conversation at times, polite/friendly, a PLUS when it comes to service these days. Everyone made you feel welcomed, though at this location the servers never came around with clean plates for you, which we were disappointed with, Vegas they did. The salad bar, the "Lobster Bisque" was below room temperature by the time you got it back to your table it was almost cold. We enjoyed the salad bar but there were a few items that needed to be kept more fresh, not good. Grilled Parmesan seemed to be grilled the day before and wrapped up for the next days business, some of the prosciutto seemed to be dried out a bit and the asparagus were to hard. The pineapple was a plus, nice. Overall we enjoyed our visit and will be back for another visit maybe soon in the near future.

WOW! What an amazing experience. My family and I are visiting nearby Virginia Beach and decided to try this restaurant after touring the Battleship Wisconsin. The restaurant was easy to locate in the McArthur Mall and parking was plentiful and only cost one dollar. We were greeted immediately and seated in only a few moments. Our server Fatima explained the dining concept to us and also that some of the meat may taste salty because it is salt crusted during the cooking process but that each cut could be ordered and prepared to your liking. The salad bar alone is worth the price not to mention the out of this world lobster bisque. I sampled everything but the chicken and lamb, my favorite cut was the flank steak while my wife enjoyed the filet the most. We each enjoyed a glass of the housemade Sangria, I would have enjoyed more if I didn't need to drive it was outstanding! Our sever Fatima was excellent, friendly and attentive. I would not recommend this for young children, they do not have a kids menu and many of the food options just aren't kid cuisine. Lastly get your wallet out, it's not cheap but worth every cent and plan on spending time to enjoy the experience, it's not the place to grab a quick bite before the movie.

We chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The overall experience was great. The food and the salad bar were amazing! Each meat was different then the last giving you a wide array of choices and options. I have never seen a better salad bar in my life. I was a little turned off that the green beans and the asparagus weren't cooked but other than that it was to die for. Our server was attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine that they were sold out of, which was a set back but she came back with similar options and gave us some recommendations for other wines. We ate and drank until we couldn't any more. Everything about the night was perfect the reason I gave four stars instead of five was because of the hostess situation. How on earth do they only have one hostess. We waited 15 minutes to be seated for a restaurant with no wait. She was clearing tables and seating people and running back and seating more. That poor girl needed help. The lobby is also very cramped-- being that lately it's been below freezing everyone crowded the already small lobby. Get that girl a back up and this place would be perfect

To start with, this was an impromptu date night that started with Christmas shopping and ended up in this fantastic restaurant. Our service was extraordinary. Our server, Irene, was friendly and very knowledgable and we had a lot of laughs with her. The shift manager Jason and the General Manager, Carlos, both made table side appearances to assure that we were satisfied with our experience. The atmosphere is very pleasing, although if I had one complaint, it was that I had to wear my jacket all evening as I found it Chilly in there... So did my date. The food was amazing, from the salad bar to the meat that kept showing up every few seconds. I wished for bulimia so I could just keep going. But alas, We had to stop with enough room for desert and glad we did. They were special for sure. Is this place cheap.. No it is not, but settle in for a long evening, take your time and enjoy the great food, the friendly service and the extensive wine list. We will be back!

Went here a few nights ago and it totally is not worth the hefty bill. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is nice. We tried almost every meat offered. While the meat was definitely tender it all just tasted greasy without any real flavor. The garlic sirloin was flavorful but again it was greasy. The salad bar was not as impressive as the website made it sound. The soup was lobster bisque which had a great flavor but it was just cream, not one piece of lobster. The novelty of this place wore off quickly and we all left feeling gross from the greasy meat. A more flavorful steak can be found at Texas Roadhouse .

This location is still going through growing pains. The servers don't seem well-trained yet. The server poorly explained the setup/scheme of the restaurant since we were first time guests. The server additionally messed up the check, and then threw a lot of attitude about having to fix a check that they screwed up. The food is great, and it is a unique experience and great place for meat-lovers.Our table definitely loved the flank steak and the sirloin. Even vegetarians can do the lighter fare and do the salad bar area. The area does have a lot of great options (although some vegetarians may find it expensive at 25 dollars).

The salad bar was nice and the food fresh. Staff was friendly enough. Meat was interesting. I enjoyed the flank and mignon most. Drinks are 11.00 each. Overall, I would rate this a 3 because everyone should try it at least once. The beef was good but often came rare which was disappointing. It wasn't Earth moving but it was plentiful and fun. Be prepared to spend 3-400 dollars for 5 people. Go on an off day and use a coupon. Too pricey on a Saturday.

I came here yesterday not knowing what to expect but wow this place was amazing. The filet and the lamb chops were superb. The only reason why only 4 stars and not 5 is because my wife only eats well done steak and she had to wait an extra 15 mins for steak. Other then that everything was amazing definitely worth another visit.

Absolutely an amazing experience. The salad"area" has so much to offer and then the meat... so much meat to eat! Pork, chicken, beef, and my favorite... lamb! A but pricey so won't be a frequent visitor, but will definitely be back! Oh and their drinks are STRONG!

Having TdB local is squee-worthy. The fact that they're beating all expectations from having dined with them elsewhere is just icing! The staff is excellent. The location is perfect. And everything else is as wonderful as to be expected.

I went to Texas de Brazil yesterday and I was not at all impressed with my experience. - found out that the restaurant is by reservation only - even though they have no mention of this on their website. Make sure you call before you go - we just called to see if we needed reservations and were told we had to have a reservation. - they have no seating in their entrance way - you have to stand until you are seated - our server spilled water while filling almost everyone's glass at our table; and we had to twice ask for our water to be refilled. - one of the meat servers dropped some meat on my pants - the service was VERY SLOW - we had to ask several times to have the meat servers return to our table. - most of the meat servers were friendly (when they did show up at our table.) One meat server served one person at our table and then just walked away - we had get up and ask him to return to serve the other diners at our table. - there was one meat item that was served at our table only once; overall, the meat options seemed somewhat limited compared to other places we've been. - it seems they did not have nearly enough servers for the amount of people dining and our hot food from the salad got cold before someone would show up with meat to eat it with. - after we asked for our bill, the server took at least 10 minutes to return with it. - they didn't have toilet paper in the stall my wife used in the restroom - she had to pull some kleenex out of her purse. I have been to other Texas de Brazil locations and the experience was much better. I know this location is relatively new and they may be having some growing pains but I was disappointed with my experience and probably won't be going back. The food was good but I was expecting it to be more like the experience we had at other Texas de Brazil locations. The food tasted pretty good and the meats were well seasoned but the poor service really took away from the overall experience. Tucanos in Newport News is about half the price of Texas de Brazil ($23 at Tucanos vs. $43 at Texas de Brazil), their salad bar is much larger with lots more options, they have a wider variety of meats, the service is much better, and the meat servers are much more attentive to diners. If you are going to use a coupon or other offer at Texas de Brazil, make sure you read the fine print and details and discuss the details with your server to clarify what you are getting. They border on being deceptive. Tucanos is closed on Sundays - which is the only reason we took our friends to Texas de Brazil -- but I don't think I will be going back. Tucanos offers a better value for your dining dollars with much better service. For me, the premium price at Texas de Brazil just wasn't worth it. The staff seemed poorly trained and poorly managed. In the future, I will just be driving farther to Newport News to go to Tucanos and not doing any Brazilian churrascaria dining on Sundays when Tucanos is closed.

My husband and I went there for dinner, staff was professional. Yes, there were several meats to choose from. In short the food was ok, nothing over the top in taste. We expected more, for our $100. For us this is a one and done, definitely not a repeat.

Top notch service, food is prepared and presented very well. The salad/side dish buffet is extraordinarily diverse and delicious . Jason and Nora made our daughters B-day very special without the silly clapping. All meats were cooked to perfection and abundant. The desserts looked amazing. We're going back for my in-laws 50th anniversary. Well worth the price. You will not be disappointed.

Late Post... First time at this establishment, Wait staff was very courteous when we checked in.. 7:15 pm reservations, we were seated on time. Our server was outstanding, friendly and knowledgeable of the salad bar items and meat that would be served. Food was delicious atmosphere was great and the restaurant noise level was low enough to allow for easy table conversations. The sangria was very good. $42.00 per person for as much food you could eat, definitely worth it. For first timers, sign up for the $25.00 off gift coupon, all you need to do is register online at theTexas De Brazilian website. Only negative, the table was small to comfotably seat four people with drinks, food, and room for the g ouchos to do their job... Not a big deal... Recommended.

A few years ago, my wife and I were introduced by friends in Chicago to the Brazilian churrascaria style steak house. So, learning that a new one had opened in our hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, with favorable diner reviews, I chose it for my birthday. It started well enough, despite the raucous ambient sound. The waiters seemed eager to serve, there were apparent managers inquiring about service and cuisine from time to time. The best meat on skewers was the lamb chop, medium rare, tasty and reasonably tender. I was disappointed to note that the "gauchos" seemed to favor pushing undefined small cuts of chicken that were unremarkable in taste or texture. Presentation of sirloin was also promoted, despite my disdain for that cut of beef and in spite of the excessive seasoning. The coup de grace was the offer of filet mignon, when I declined all but the first sample of sirloin cuts. We were promised several times that the filet gaucho would be with us right away, but he never materialized. When I insisted with the senior manager of wait staff, the gaucho finally appeared with chunks of meat grossly shaped like tenderloin filets. But rather than tender, juicy and rare, they were sinewy, overcooked, and rampant with heavy seasoning. The only saving grace of the dinner was the discount for Restaurant Week and the comedy of errors and pretentiousness which amused my family and me. My wife was not amused in the middle of the night when she woke up with acid reflux and in the morning had diarrhea. We have sadly crossed Texas de Brazil off our list for future dinners.

Typical Brazilian Chain, a bit salty for my liking.
