Expect better customer service at McDonalds, everybody who worked here seemed angry to be at work. Rays hell burger still has this place beat.

My new favorite burger in the Tyson's area. Not as amazing as Ray's Hell, but getting warm. Love the Wellington in particular. Ambience is what you'd expect in the mall, but the burger is worth it.

Down the hall from Diesel & Kors and next to Cava. Great burgers, fries and cool soda machine.

These are my favorite burgers in the DMV and the only burger place where I feel comfortable ordering one medium rare. It comes out hot, juicy, and well-seasoned, and you can really taste the quality of the meat they use. The onion rings are really good, but the fries and sweet potato fries leave something to be desired. Shakes could be a little better too. The Wellington is my favorite - is great without a bun too. One last thing I will mention is that I really like that they have special burgers throughout the year. It gives them extra variety.

I've tried 'Wellington' and really liked the flavor. For lunch, the box set is a great value. I like to get sweet potato fries instead of regular fries, but sometimes they are overcooked and really dry.

4.5 stars for the Veggie burger here. I haven't tried a regular burger here but my fiance seems to think they're ok. The veggie burger is divine though - black beans, brown rice, oats, molasses?? Top that with their buttery bun and that just equals delicious although not necessarily healthy. Yum.

I love me some burgers and it's very hard to find a good burger place outside of Ray's. I tried BGR at the mall in Tysons and I was disappointed once again. I've tried other locations of BGR (Bethesda and Arlington) and both have disappointed me for different reasons. This time I'm more disappointed because of the dryness of the burger and the long wait. I'm not sure why the burger was dry. It looked like it just came off the grill after waiting about 15 minutes for it on a Saturday afternoon at 2 pm when 8 people were in the store. I also thought that they gave too much fries in comparison to the burger. The ratio is a little off. The prices are very high even for the plain burger. I'm going to have to try it again, maybe at a different location and see what I think... The Coke machine was cool. Although oddly enough, the power went out the day I was there and the machine took about 5 minutes to boot up (meaning that no one could refill until it was done rebooting).

The aged, fire-grilled taste of the beef takes a little getting used to. I was actually distracted by the overly smoky taste of my cheese burger with everything (except onions). The burger was juicy, but not well seasoned. I added more condiments then I usually add to similarly made burgers. The sweet potato fries here are better than sweet potato fries I've had at most places. Full or not, I could not get enough of them. These by themselves get a 5-star rating from me. The onion rings were okay. The type of onions they use, vidalia, were a little sweet for my taste and the BGR Joint cuts them thick. I prefer a thinner cut. I asked for well-done onion rings. But mine were still quite bready/doughy tasting. It didn't take too long for our order to arrive and the service was good.

I have only been to this particular location once, but I am a big fan of BGR in general and go to the one out in Sterling quite often. I was not disappointed by my visit here. Although I have tried the Wellington as well as a few of their monthly special burgers, I typically just go with the regular burger with everything on it plus bacon (no cheese). That's what I ordered on this visit, and I was not disappointed. It was really, really tasty. That premium beef really showed through the whole thing, and even though it's a huge burger, I never got tired of it at any point. If you're not sure what to order, the regular burger dressed how you typically like burgers (i.e. with or without pickles, onions, etc.) is perhaps the best way to start out. As for fries, I am a big fan of the sweet potato fries, but they all seem pretty good. They also do pitches of beer if you're looking to knock back a few cold ones. Just know that these burgers cost a little more than your average burger. If you go in knowing that on the front end it'll be better than if you get to the cash register and have to say, "HOW much?!?" Definitely worth it though. Check it out.

This is my first time at a BGR location. I've heard many good things about them, though. I went in with some high expectations which left me disappointed-- kind of like when you've heard that your coworker is bragging about dating a model and you just HAVE to see a picture... except turns out she's pretty normal looking. Atmosphere: Not my kind of place. I'm not going to dock the place on that. To be honest, though, I got super distracted by the disco ball and the loud music. It was dark, other than the sad disco ball, which made me kind of sleepy. I liked that I could watch the game there, but again, the lighting and the music overpowered my senses. Food: Oh! How undeniably underwhelming those fries were. Yeah, they were fried well, but that's no headline news. Let's throw some rosemary and roasted garlic-- the fries that were near the rosemary had the flavor, but the garlic was just there. No flavor on the fries. Just there. *sigh* Really? Burger... salt... I remember salt... lots of salt... I got the Wellington burger, but with Swiss cheese. The mushrooms were extremely salty. It overpowered the prime ground beef. However, I took a few bites of the meat itself... great!! Now... if only I didn't have all this salt. To be honest, if the topping was less salty, the burger would perhaps have stood out. It was good meat. Next time I'll be getting a regular cheeseburger. High: Beef Low: Fries This was not the day to go to BGR, maybe. I'll be going again to see if this is really how it is. I'm giving it three stars because nothing was horrible, just disappointing. The burger meat was good. I'll give it another chance.

My fiance and I went in for dinner on a Friday night, unsure what to expect (beyond hamburgers, that is). We both walked away very satisfied and impressed. Both of our hamburgers were delicious, the options were plentiful, and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. I'm dieting so giving me the option to swap out grilled asparagus helped soften the blow of a delicious hamburger for dinner. Not only will I go back, but I hope to do so in the near future. Highly recommended.

The lunch special cost $8.99, but if you want cheese add another $1.30 (give or take) and they don't tell you it cost extra. That's one thing Five Guys is great at, their toppings. My bill was around $12.00 for a burger and fry at lunch which is a bit pricey. It was good, but not something I'd go back for.

  • Kathleen K.

Had lunch here one Saturday afternoon and I left pretty satisifed. They've got a nice menu of burgers (I had the sliders), and you can even get your burger on a salad. My main issue is that the restaurant is LOUD. Seriously? The cement floors and open ceiling don't help. What also doesn't help, the girls soccer team that came while we were there. I might go back, but it's not exactly a refuge from the loud food court upstairs.

Let's just say I'm a bit of a road warrior with the travels i do for work and as such most of the time looking for a quick bite which lends to plenty of burgers and fries meals. So I a self proclaimed burger aficionado and the wellington is definitely in my top 5 favorite burgers right now. Everytime I'm in the office in Tyson's I make 1 to 2 BGR runs it is sooo good

  • Nick A.

I like their original burger, as well as their turkey burger. Both the regular and sweet potato fries are pretty good, and I would give this place 4 stars pretty much all around. Mojo sauce is great, going well on both the burgers and fries. Also nice choice of condiments (A1, grey poupon I believe). Now onto why I gave them only 3 stars...their southwest burger sounds so good, but it is really one of the worst burgers I have ever had. So soft and mushy, I don't even know how they call it a burger. The most upsetting part for me was that I forgot I had it a couple years back (and hated it), and I ordered it again today! Right with the first bite it all came back. They clearly make it sound pretty good on the menu, so don't be fooled! (I know...fool me twice...) Just stick with the original.

This is based on the original burger and sweet potato fries. I've been "working" hard to compare the major burger contenders in the area. My candidates are Elevation Burger, Five Guys, Hellburger, Burgers Taps and Shakes, Bobby's Burger Place, and then recently BGR. After today's first (and possibly last, yeah, not a great sample size) experience at BGR, it's ranking last. Pros: They make a case for quality beef. No hormones is nice, "raised in a field" means nothing. I like the idea of the 9 pounder. Um, the drink machine is almost as good as Elevation Burger's? Cons: (Tyson's local) Congested system them. People coming in from both the mall side and outside. Food wise, pretty much loses on all counts (didn't try a milkshake). Price was fine. The sweet potato fries tasted like previously frozen plastic. There were a lot of them, which made for more previously frozen plastic. The mojo sauce was uneventful, similar to the now omnipresent "third thousand islandish" option at most places now. I left the majority on the tray. (and a note here, I'm not trying to be cruel at all, it just wasn't good). As for the burger, I subscribe to the idea that it should speak for itself, doesn't need a wedge of gruyere or seven types of bacon and mushrooms to enhance (hide) it's quality. So I got it medium with a tomato. The bun was buttered, reminded me of Fuddruckers. The burger itself wasn't bad, but wasn't anything I wouldn't expect at TGIFs or someplace like that. The same fashion burger at BTS, HellBurger, BBP, absolutely stand out in comparison. It wasn't particularly flavorful, not much texture between the outside and inside - didn't hit that sensor in the brain that shouts "great burger", and believe me, I gave it all the opportunity I could. In all, a dissapointing experience b/c I had high hopes. As far as proximity, I think that Elevation is better in taste, quality, and presentation. And the Elevation fries win by a landslide.

The only reason this is not a five-star review is because of the lack of toppings and the price. Compared to other burger chains, the topping list for regular burgers is severely lacking. BUT, by far this one of the best burger places in DC quality-wise. The burger was very moist the mojo sauce was good. I loved the onion rings. they were huge and very tasty. The fries are mediocre, but with wonderful onion rings, who needs them. The shake is one of the best I have had. Yes, I will pay the price again to enjoy this awesome food.

I had been to this location once before, and I was impressed, but a recent experience has turned me off. As I was waiting in line, a gentleman in a uniform of another mall burger place was being treated with disrespect and attitude by one of the workers. It took him 3x as long as it should to get his order taken. I understand that they are competitors, but good customer service should apply to everyone. On to my order: the service was pleasant over all, but my burger was unbelievably overcooked. I ordered it medium rare and I received a dry, well done burger. The grilled onions and mojo sauce tried to save it, but it was not great. The fries are pedestrian at best--- I could get them at any other cheap restaurant. However, this is not a cheap restaurant- $12 for a meal is over the top for the quality and amount of food I receive. I'll try it once more, but I'd rather go to EB and get more food for my money.

    (2)
  • Pete K.

I've had better burgers at cheaper restaurants. The service is slow and the lines are long. The place is also crammed and hard to maneuver through.

I finally decided to check out BGR, not really expecting much other than a tasty burger. However, I instead got an AWESOME burger which has made this my new go-to burger joint in the area. Why was it so good? The burger was big and definitely tasted great. The bun was large and fantastic as well. The burger gave off more of a gourmet look than a fast food vibe, so it was definitely worth the additional money that you have to pay. I also tried the onion rings, which were crispy and hot and I would definitely get them again. My only concern is that their special Irish Cream milkshake was quite terrible and tasted like a chilled glass of milk more so than a creamy milkshake. Other than that, the burger itself was really good and I recommend giving this place a shot. By comparison, I definitely think that BGR's burger is superior to Five Guys, Elevation Burger, and smashes Burger 7 to bits.

I had the Wellington, because I was told it was good. Big disappointment. I found it very salty and was unable to eat even half of it. Not impressed and probably will not go back.

  • Joanne B.

There are a ton of places where you can get a burger in Tysons, but if I want to shell out some extra dough for a "gourmet burger" I'd go here. I opted to get the bunless Wellington and it was flavorful and tasty. The toppings without the bun made the burger look a bit weird but after taking a bite I was able to look past that. The lettuce was huge enough to wrap around, which is nice for those who like to pick up their bunless burgers--although I ate with a fork and knife. The sweet potato fries were great! Nice and crispy! I had double check and make sure they were dredged in anything (and the chef assured me they weren't) so it must be the oil that makes them fry so good. The soda/ice machine is the bees knees! It's a very high tech contraption with a wide variety of beverages, but once you get the hang of it it's great. My favorite beverages are the Powerade and the Dasani Flavors (sparkling flavored water, yum!). If you're in the mood for something other than a plain ol' fast food burger (or just don't want to wait in the Cava Grill line next door, lol) come and try it out!

Their motto is "One Burger you MUST Have before you die". Well I have had it and I wont be back. I ordered a regular hamburger, medium rare, with everything plus cheese and bacon. I received a burger that was burnt black on the outside and well done on the inside. It is nice to cook on a real fire instead of a griddle, but the food is not supposed to be on fire and then served. That black is a carcinogen. I had cut it in half so I took it back up and the guy who cooks them said "What? You want it less done?" Attempt number 2 was the same. burnt black on the outside. I did not even look inside. Attempt number 3 was finally medium rare. The burgers were not seasoned at all but after salt and pepper, it was okay. I also ordered the asparagus but I had to bring that back because they too had been on fire. I will not be back.

Went for an early lunch so restaurant had plenty of seating and nobody was rushed. The place was clean, each table had all the necessary condiments on the table. Other than the fact that the music was a little loud I thought the overall experience was good. We got the Southwestern burger and the Veggie burger. Southwestern burger had plenty of flavor but was not spicy enough for me, we thought the Veggie burger was a tad sweet (maybe teriyaki sauce was used as seasoning) , and it contained too much rice in the burger, some chickpeas would have made it more savory, but we still enjoyed it, and it's nice to see vegetarian and seafood choices at casual restaurants like this. Both burgers fell apart as we were eating it. The Veggie burger really came apart as a previous review mentioned, just make sure you eat the burgers over your plates. Their regular fries (thick-cut) were cooked well, crispy on the outside and potatoey on the inside, and none of them were burnt, which I liked. Wish they had a recycling bin for their soft drink cups - #1 plastic.

Went to the BGR joint last night for first time. Will not go back. While the burger itself was good.... big, juicy, etc. The shake was horrible (actually the worst I've ever had...didn't even finish it), the fries was unsalted and the cashier was rude as hell. Most of all, the server was cleaning the area with a spray, wiping it down with her hands then grabbing the buns and burgers to serve. I had to ask them to change gloves before handling my food. The place was pretty dirty too.

Three of us ate here yesterday. Two of the burgers had some sort of mushroom mash on top - it was supposed to be sauteed mushrooms but instead looked like meatloaf cafeteria food. The other was a southwest burger ... None of us finished our burgers and all commented how overpriced the food was - especially for the lack of quality and presentation.

  • Olivia P.

i personally like shake shack better, but the only thing i like about bgr is they ask you how your patty want to be cooked.. the quality of meat is better compare to shake shack but overall taste, i have to give it to shake shack..

Hands down best burger I've ever had, and Im a grill master :-) I have also had their tuna burger, really good alternative to the beef, and its been super fresh the times i have had it... I've recently even ventured into doubling up the beef patty, its soooo good. Though the fries and onion rings are good too.. Im coming here for the double cheeseburger!

  • Jo M.

i like this place. the burger here is about the best one can get for $6.99. tasty bun, good flavor, fresh veggies, a whole host of condiments sitting on the table. perfectly cooked fries and even a couple of beer selections. the turkey burger also is fantastic..need to try the tuna next.

    (5)
  • Mike S.

Pretty decent burgers and fries. The onion rings and fries are standard Sysco stock. The veg is fresh, bacon just ok. My neighbor swears by the tuna, but I stick to the burgers because that's what I want when I go to a burger joint. The "sliders" tend to be overcooked and dry. Last time I ordered a milkshake it took like ten minutes for the kid to figure the process out.

decided to give this fairly new place a shot; located next to Cava, it may be difficult to locate. the space is small and tight; ordered the standard burger with regular friends and sweet potato fries. the burger was just average; tasted like something i could have made at home; the actual size of the burger was great. their sweet potato fries were just ok. wont be going back, would rather prefer five guys if i was in the mood for a burger at Tysons

Normally this is where I'd say a burger place that charges over $10 for its burger needs to make sure to come with fries. Normally I'd say I'm displeased that I can spend $15 at a burger joint and leave without feeling full. Unfortunately for my frugality, BGR has earned the right to surpass these normal demands. The food is too delicious, it doesn't play under the same rules other establishments do. Five Guys, Z-Burger, Smashburger: you all need to step aside. Without a doubt, BGR has surpassed any burger spot I've yet to try here in DC. I ordered the Greek, though essentially everything on the menu looked pretty sensational. My two friends that came with were as pleased with their burgers as I was with mine. The price is a slight concern, but it won't stop me from returning. My initial visit had the bill softened by a Groupon, I'd definitely recommend keeping an eye out for similar deals. My bar for burger-excellence here in DC has been raised, and everywhere else has BGR to blame.

Burgers taste great here BUT, the man taking the orders took the cash from us and then started to cook the burgers...read between the lines.

  • Mariah S.

Well prepared and seasoned food, quality ingredients, done without a whole lot of fanfare in a casual setting. Glad I stopped by and gave this place a try. Plus it's out of the way of the hustle and bustle in the mall. There's a great outdoor seating!

Yum! Is all I can say. I love coming here, and am not disappointed. The burgers and fries are great along with the fresh shakes. Fun, and family-friendly.

  • Rod T.

We went there for lunch. We were not greeted. I asked the guy at the register a question and he pointed at the menu without saying anything. Which I thought was rude. He then proceeded to make our burger with the same gloves he used to take money. Later I learned that he is the manager which made it all worse... not going back there...

  • Georgio S.

Worst burger I ever had. Not only did I pay 12 bucks for this horrible burger but had to sit on the pot all day the next morning. I got really sick and think the meat was tainted. I will never go back again. The burger I got was dry and over cocked although I ordered it medium it came out extra dead. Next time a want a burger fuddruckers or 5 guys!

    (2)
  • Sean K.

Just had the southwestern at BGR. It was a nasty pseudo-burger that was a waste of $9. The patty tasted more like vegan sloppy joes than a burger. The menu should be updated to reflect that fact.

  • Amanda P.

While running some errands, my fiance and I stopped into BGR for a quick dinner and were pretty impressed. We both got the classic burgers (mine with bacon and cheese and his with peppers and hot sauce). I loved my burger, the bacon was absolutely perfect. It took a little bit to get our food, but I didn't mind because we knew it was fresh. You can watch them cook your food depending on where you sit. I'm usually a slow eater, but I devoured my burger! Definitely don't skip on the fries either, they're fantastic!

    (4)
  • Esther C.

I like there burgers a lot. Good flavor and made to order. The fries are so so, but onion rings are good (a little greasy). They also have sweet potato tots which is a nice option. Recommend ordering your burger medium if you like medium rare. I ordered my medium rare the last go around and it was too rare.

  • Natasha G.

This is a decent spot if you're looking for non-food court food in a casual setting. I've had the chicken sandwich and the sweet potato fries, and both are decent. I really liked the portion size; you will definitely leave feeling full! The guy working the counter was friendly and patient; I took a while to decide what I wanted. There are numerous tables at this location, but it's never been overly crowded. All in all, this place makes a decent, reliable sandwich. There isn't anything super crazy or complicated, and it's a nice departure from other restaurants in the mall. Bottom line: if you're craving burgers, this is a good spot to try out. The portions make a trip here worthwhile.

Friendly service ... They made a mistake ,someone else took the order we been waiting for a while . So the nice black man refunded our $ and made the meal on house . I'm not sure if he was the manager . But my date said he's cool as shit while we was exiting the burger joint. What a gentleman. I said yes I agree ! While I was leaving he apologized to both to us . I asked him if I can have a drink . He had a sense of humor and said oh no with a smile and said no go head . So I grabbed a cup and got me a lemonade . I come back . My date loved his burger . I def be back when I come back to tysons .

  • Emily K.

This location is super awkward in tysons corner mall down a little hallway next to another restaurant. They have nice patios outside to eat though, so that's nice. The burger was good! I got some avocado on it and was happy ;) also, the sweet potato fries are very good

Their burgers are really good! My boyfriend and I got double burgers here and the patties are huge! We asked for well done, and they did cook out all the pink, if anyone's worried about that. The burgers are really well-seasoned. My boyfriend only got a cheeseburger, no other toppings, and it was still really flavorful. I got the mushroom topping, and that was amazing. Just great flavors. I was really glad to finally get a burger out that wasn't super bland for $14. The fries were tasty too. I'm definitely going back.

Grilled Isn't Caramelized *Note* This review is based on take-out only Food/Drink: 2.5 Stars When a menu says caramelized, that is what I expect. I will nitpick this detail as much as I want! Some of the onions were still partially raw. From the photo you can easily tell how the onion was prepared. Normally I don't whine about such a small detail, but it was $2.00 extra. For that price I expect it to be done correctly. Now that I have ranted about that I will continue with the rest. Overall the burger is decent and cooked to the proper temperature I requested. The flavors are good and the ingredients are fresh, but there is no impact. When a restaurant specializes in a specific dish you expect it to be all that it can be, even if it is a chain. The fries are the main reason I would return to BGR. Crispy goodness in a quart sized Chinese food container. Even after being full from the burger, shake and pretzel (from Auntie Anne's [yes I'm a glutton]) I consumed these addictive golden fried sticks potato exquisiteness. The chocolate shake was so-so. It quenched my craving for something chocolatey, but that's about it. Service: 3 Stars Service is quickly and friendly. Happy to fix all my errors when I was spouting out my messy order and repeating my order correctly the first time. The condiments, utensils and other items are on their normal side table, but some were on carts that are out of place. It looks are though they were in the middle of refilling their stock and topped halfway leaving it there. Overall: 2.5 Stars When a place confused grilled with caramelized, what else are they getting wrong that people don't know about. The burger selection is of an interesting variety. You will not find many places serving an "ahi tuna" burger in a chain restaurant. The fries are the biggest surprise here by being downright crisp and delicious. Cleanliness is mildly questionable (mainly due to the condiments/utensils just being on a cart). The crowds aren't heavy during weeknights, so if you are craving a burger you may want to check them out. If I return back to the Tyson Corner area, I'll give them a second chance.

This is a franchise burger chain founded by Mark Bucher (Medium Rare). First location 2008 in Bethesda, now over 20 locations, half or more in the greater DC area. Concept is a flame broiled burger cooked to order, with a handful of pre-designed burgers on the menu (and flexibility to customize). Fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings. Shakes. Classic rock themed decor. An early contributor to the trend of "gourmet" burger joints in DC (and nationwide), BGR is a franchise, ersatz version of Good Stuff and Ray's the 3rd. Also in the same genre: Bobby's Burger Palace, Burger Tap & Shake, Bolt, Kraze. I quite enjoy this place. Borderline 3/4 stars. Have been to various locations maybe a dozen times over the past 5-6 years. I normally get their basic burger and customize, but I have also found the "Triple D" gratifying if not over the top (applewood bacon, cheddar, fried egg, and whole jalapeños!). Others including the Washingtonian have raved about the Wellington so consider trying it if you are a fan of mushrooms on burgers.

Wow. I am shocked! I was hesitant to try this burger based on the yelp reviews that have already been posted. I was about to go to five guys but decided to give this place a shot. I got the burger box set. I got the regular cheese burger with American cheese and the works. This burger is honestly a top 5 burger that I've had. Maybe this was just a good day but I did not expect that much flavor. They have a dry aged burger and the taste was so delicious and unique. The ratio of pickles and veggies were perfect. The bun was a bit dry and flat in my opinion. I thought the grilled onions were a little inconsistent and semi-sloppy in placement. But the overall flavor of the burger was amazing. The fries were nearly perfect and the quantity was extremely generous. All of this and a drink comes out to 11.64 with tax. I can't say much more about how great of a deal you will be getting by coming here. Also the men's bathroom is very clean and smells nice. Hopefully they can consistently produce this kind of an experience and increase their yelp rating.

This is the first time I've eaten here. The kids have eaten here before. The menu looked interesting and the burgers are juicy. But, everything was so salty. They over seasons the burgers and way over salted the French fries. Not a great experience as I had hoped for.

Bad service! Forgot half of my order, were out of hamburger buns. Without telling me that beforehand sold me a hamburger in lettuce wrap!! Did not apologized... Did not offer to fix the dish or refund. Will not be back.

  • Amir C.

if u have spare time go here cause it takes them forever to make your order ready. The burger is a normal burger nothing better than places like five guys however its more expensive here to have the same burger. The only good thing is fries, you can try those if you are still going.

This was my first and probably last time at a BGR. So this rating is on "my" burger only. The cleanliness and service was good. Ordered: 1. Turkey burger 2. Sweet potato fries 3. Drink My turkey burger was pink inside. When I request that it be cooked a little more they said two things, it's turkey (it's supposed to be pink) AND the burger come precooked. Well, that ruined the surprise. I've had far better tasting turkey burgers that this. Nothing on it was fresh. The tomato was mushy, the lettuce was soft and the bread flaky. A subpar burger.

Got their venue burger. Burger it self was good. But their sauce options were limited. Glad they had sweet potato fries. For the price I think it could be better.

Hello, lover! I looked for you and thought I'd never find you all tucked away in a weird corner of Tysons Corner Mall. You were worth the trouble and time it took. I knew you were special from the moment I read your profile---a prime, dry-aged burger grilled over an open flame topped with caramelized onions, roasted mushrooms, black truffles and blue cheese crumbles. You were so rare--well, medium rare...close enough...I felt we would be made for each other. You looked so gorgeous and smelled absolutely amazing--the earthiness of your scent ...more guys should try that mushroom and black truffle fragrance! You made such an impression, I couldn't keep my hands off you even on our first introduction. I'm not usually the kind of girl who jumps right in, but I just couldn't help wrapping my hand around your gorgeous bun and squeezing. It's been over a month and I still have salient memories of the way you taste (sorry about the bite marks; I just got so excited!) look, I know I probably shouldn't say this after just the first date... but I just can't stop thinking about you, Wellington. It may not be true love--yet, but my obsession with you is growing every day. I'm not sure I could commit to you and only you. But I just wanted to let you know that although I may try other burgers, you will always be special to me.

We heard this place had pretty good burgers so we gave it a try. We came here to grab some dinner. I ordered The Burger, which is your basic burger. I added cheddar cheese to it. It was just okay to me. Nothing spectacular to me. My bf ordered the Wellington and he seemed to enjoyed it. I took a bite of it and it was not my type of burger. I was not digging the mushrooms in a burger. Not for me! The french fries were on point though! Loooved them. So crispy and warm! I would come here for the fries alone! This place was decent. Just glad I got to try it and cross it off our foodie list.

This is an update my my review posted last year... Went back against my better judgement because I was too lazy to walk up to five guys or shake shack... I thought to myself, it couldn't be that bad, that consistently, so I gave it another shot. Same pitiful results. The burger was dry, and the fries undercooked. I hope this place goes out of business to make way for a better establishment. And as for the manager that offered me a free burger as restitution for my previous horrible experience, he never actually followed up... Imagine that...

While this entire review is based on one visit, overall I ceased to be impressed with the food. I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna Burger with a side of fries and the tuna felt almost inedible. Maybe I'm bias because I have eaten quite few spectacular Seared Ahi Tuna, but this tuna was not seared... perhaps lightly browned? I think the Tuna lacked seasoning and a nice hot sear. Enough with the negative, the ambience is mellow and it vibes well with the overall experience. Perhaps I should have ordered an actually steak based burger, but I won't be back anytime soon.

BGR is my go to place on Sunday's if I'm feeling a burger and that's definitely what I did on this past Sunday. Although the BGR at tysons corner serves great food and is delicious their customer service is not so good. I'm not sure whether the situation had to do with me being younger or that's just how their cashier behaves but, usually a cashier gives you the go ahead to take your order this guy didn't..he just kept looking down at the register. I waited because I wasn't sure whether he was ready or still processing another order after finally taking my order and waiting about 5-7 minutes for my food I got my burger I've been waiting for. I usually get the burger with a pineapple slice and a side of fries as I told the cashier. unfortunately I got mine without a Patty just lettuce tomatoes onions and a pineapple slice on a bun...I brought it back to the front telling them they forgot my Patty at first they looked at me like I was crazy but I told them to look under the bun. By the way I'm not one of those rude customers that demand things I was very calm about the situation but I still couldn't believe that they would miss the most important part to a burger. I received my burger after another 7 minute wait and not gonna lie it as great. This was surprising to my friends and I because we love The BGR. Maybe all BGR's are not the same but I'll be sure to always go to the west springfield location they have better customer service there!

The service was okay, the food not too bad, but the entire experience was overall blah. They mixed up my milkshake order - I asked for a strawberry shake, but they gave me chocolate. Not the end of the world, but it seems like a relatively hard thing to mess up. To be fair, I'm deaf, so I had to use the notes app on my iPhone to communicate, but still. The burger was pretty good, but the fries were in a small portion. So small that I had to ask for more. Kind of annoying, honestly. Paying over $12 for this was kind of... overkill. Five Guys do so much better and typically have friendlier service.

When you pay an extra dollar for a slice of cheese, it would be nice of you actually got that slice of cheese. When you realize the cheese is missing and go up to get a slice of cheese, it would be nice to not get a derogatory comment about why part of the burger was eaten if there wasn't any cheese on it. (oh my, the thought of having to try a food before realizing there is something wrong with it is too much to bear) They offered to make a new burger amd fifteen minutes later I got one with black onions. We've been here nearly a dozen times, though not in the past few months, and since then the quality of the food, staff, and facility have declined.

Been here a few times now and they still have not done me wrong. Last week I had the classic burger, medium rare, with pepper jack cheese, and no mojo sauce (I hate anything mayo-based). The burger was cooked perfectly, the size of the burger was not too big, not too small, and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. OOOOOH- but I did try their rosemary fries for the first time! So simple yet a genius idea! I dabbed every single dried rosemary flake off of my bf's plate. Yummmmmz. Come here if you want a clean, classic, burger. If you want something very clean/organic, go to Elevation. If you want something more flavorful or more variety, I recommend Ray's. I originally gave 3 stars but decided to go with 4 because one of the workers went above and beyond with customer service. I like lemon wedges in my water but they didn't have any out. When I asked the cashier, he said he would put some out for me but he didn't because he was busy taking orders. So I asked one of the cooks and he went in the back, cut an entire lemon into wedges, and wrapped it in aluminum foil for me with a smile. SO NICE! That's customer service right there! I got 6 lemon wedges for one water cup, lol!

The location is easy to miss as it hugs a spot shared with Cava Mesa on the outside of the mall far from the food court, but they have a poorly signaged entrance in the mall across from the Apple store and next to Diesel. The mall entrance is a tunnel that is lined with small high tables, rock album covers on the wall and TVs. In an impeccable move by management, they were playing old concert footage of Queen rocking out. I like. You then arrive at the order counter around the corner and there are several copies of the menu in large font on the walls so you will be able to decide what you want without holding the line up. I saw an ad outside the mall entrance for the $8.99 lunch special of a standard burger, small fries, small soda. Seemed like a good plan as the prices here escalate very quickly depending on your toppings. You can easily pay more than the lunch special for just a burger which is fine if you're out to dinner, but not necessarily if this is your work lunch spot at the mall. You get the vibrating coaster and about 10 minutes later I had my order. Came on an aluminum tray with a good helping of fries and what I consider to be a full size soda cup. You do not need to order large of either of those. The burger was not overcooked, but it was under seasoned. It was just beef, no frills. Not very juicy either, so either my previous statement about not being overcooked is wrong, or they use lean meat. Up to you to decide how you feel about that. I thought it was fine, but honestly for what amounted to a healthier version of Five Guys in a nicer setting, I'm not completely sold and that's because of not only the flavor, but also the value. A previous review said to expect about $15 per person. Overall, this is a good addition to the Tysons food offerings.

Service: Staff behind the counter was friendly, and my order was placed in literally 30 seconds...and it was my first time there. The food did take about 10-12 mins to come out but there wasn't any line at the busiest time of day thanks to their nifty buzzers. Food: The burger was pretty good! I feel like every place places their own spin on burgers and BGR does a great job! Be sure to get the works as their burger toppings are all good. Environment: Looks almost like a 70's bar. Retro interior with dark walls and hanging lighting. Really cool design and a fun place to come for a quick lunch.

This is our first time eating here. We were trying to avoid the crazy Sunday lunch hour at Tysons Corner. We ordered the Turkey Burger, fries and their special Cherry Blossom milkshake. They were all great! The turkey was not dry at all. It was a little salty for my taste but my boyfriend didn't think so. The fries were well cooked: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We appreciated the options of condiments! The milkshake came with tons of whipped cream but definitely had the ingredients. I wish had an actual milkshake straw though because the cherry bits kept getting stuck in the regular straw. Customer service was great! They were nice, gave recommendations and also followed up on our experience.

I'm currently on a mission to try the many burger fast-casual places in the Tysons Corner area. For lunch last Friday, I came to BGR: Burger Joint. We arrived at 12PM, peak of the lunch rush, but the line was surprisingly short compared to Cava next door--make sure you're getting in the right line! I ordered the legendary burger with a slice of cheddar cheese and a side of fries. I hate places that charge extra for cheese, and here they do; it's a dollar extra. After putting in our order, we were handed a buzzer and grabbed the last available table in the corner of the restaurant. The wait was longer than I would have liked--being on my lunch break, I was hopping for quick service, but we waited probably 15-20 minutes for our burgers to come out. The burger patty was thick--and thick enough where you had to mention how you wanted your burger cooked when ordering--and I liked that. Other places like Smashburger or Shake Shack don't give you that option because their burger patties are pretty thin. Overall, though, I found the burger to be just kind of bland, lacking in meat flavor, cheese flavor, and freshness... I can't figure out exactly where the burger went wrong, but it just wasn't tasty. The grilled onion was a nice change from fresh onions, but didn't pack that much of an onion flavor. I did like the bun though. It was soft and chewy with sesame seeds on top. Fries were nice, crispy, and a sizable portion--enough to split between two people, which is what we did. The most annoying part of BGR was that each table has a set of condiments like mayo, hot sauce, A1 sauce, but the ketchup is in a huge pump next to the drink machine, meaning you have to get your ketchup ahead of time and if you incorrectly estimate how much ketchup you needed for your meal, you have to get up from your table and walk through the crowded restaurant to get more... I definitely don't see myself returning to BGR. Slow service, flavorless burgers, and poor restaurant design make BGR definitely not the best burger lunch option in the area.

Okay so I stumbled upon this place. Honestly I thought it was simply a dive. However, I would come back here again. Had a great burger and fries. The only thing I would say about the burger is I doubled up on it for three extra bucks and it was way too much to eat. Fries done perfectly. Yes the floor looked like it could use some soap and water. And the place does look a bit worn. But the food was worth it. A simple place without a server in your face every 5 to 7 minutes. That was what I needed after a meeting all afternoon.

I am writing this based on both customer service and food. Service: the cashier was rude, didn't greet us with a hi/welcome. She just stood there and looked annoyed, it was our first tine there so we were checking out the menu. As we were ordering she gave us an attitude as if we were stupid (once again our first time there). Food: I got the turkey burger and my husband got the wellington. He said the taste was good but way too greasy. My turkey burger was ok, it wasn't spectacular or horrible, just edible I guess. My son got a hot dog which was fine for him. For $33 we would go to Five Guys or Shake Shack instead. The only reason we came here was because Cava Mezze was packed and we were hungry.

Decided to stop in BGR while I was solo shopping on a Saturday. It's right beside Cava Mezze Grill and I didn't know how to enter it. I'm all walking around the outside, cutting thru tables and walked in thru the back until I realized that there was probably an entrance thru the mall...smh. The menu is pretty straight forward. Basically you order the Classic and if you want toppings they're extra. They also have special burgers (veggie, tuna, lamb) that come with their own toppings. I wanted something spicy so I went with a classic burger with the spicy toppings and pepper jack cheese. I noticed that they sold grilled asparagus and I couldn't leave without getting it. I just grew a love for asparagus and I'm sure that was my veggie for the day...And I got a fountain soda. The cost you may ask? Too damn much...around $17 dollars. The restaurant is decorated with old albums and painted blue...whatever. all the condiments are on the tables except the ketchup that you hafta get before your food comes. I just noticed a review complaining about this and it's not that serious. Get like three cups so you don't hafta worry about getting back up...it's that simple. Hell, the wait for your burger is long enough for you to properly calculate the amount of ketchup needed to avoid any future issues. The food is made to order so I waited about 15 minutes. Everything was good. I enjoyed the asparagus. I wish there was a separate dipping sauce for it...I just used the ketchup. My burger was really good. I doubted the heat at first until I bit into the grilled jalapeno on top. Won't doubt it again. Maybe I'll try one of their special burgers next time. Overall, I'll come back when I'm prepared to spend that much money. I can't hit that place on a normal day...I'll be at checkers.

Not recommend. . Mt review is not based in price.. BUT if im paying $60 for 4 burgers, 1 fries, 1 sweet potato fries and 3 drinks I will expect the best and no no no we got 4 extremely dried burgers no flavor what so ever and not getting the avocado I paid for .. very disappointed. Once again its not about the money but the quality u get after that.. I won't come back ever

Really great gourmet burgers. Good quality ingredients, big, juicy. I love the different options like the Greek themed burger or the Southwestern, but they also have a really great lunch special for a regular burger, fries, and a drink. The sweet potato tater tots are bomb, and they sell Cheerwine! They also have a small selection of alcohol. I'm docking one star for pretty much always getting something in the order wrong.

  • Adam S.

I usually get their lunch box special that includes a drink and fries. I only come here to try something different but given its price, I'd rather go to 5 Guys since it'll be cheaper and I enjoy 5 Guys more. Tip: Get your food to-go. My friend and I ordered food and I had a lot more fries than him since I got mine to-go.

Pretty basic, BGR sticks to what it does well, make a great burger, to order, over an open flame, with great toppings. The buns are tasty and substantial and fits the juicy burger quite well. The beef is high quality and quite tasty. The toppings are also fresh and tasty. This place is becoming a staple when I want a great burger, done right, and fast. Their fries are quite tasty as well. Atmosphere is casual and themed on 80's and classic rock. I recommend this place!

I'm glad I had a rare burger craving while strolling through Tysons, because BGR really hit the spot. We had the Wellington and the Turkey burger, and both were solid. Perhaps it's a sad phenomenon that when it comes to burgers, you're often impressed when people do exactly what they say they will do, but my medium Wellington came out a perfect medium, and yes, I was impressed. Roasted mushrooms, caramelized onions, garlic with a touch of mustard seed and blue cheese with "mojo" sauce--everything came together perfectly, and the blue cheese added a perfect amount of oomph. The turkey burger was also very good. The patty was very thick and juicy, not the flat factory-made looking stuff that I've seen in so many places. You could really taste the portobello mushroom, and the lettuce and tomatoes were big and fresh. Extra points for the fries, which were salted perfectly, and retained a wonderful crisp even after they had cooled down significantly. No ketchup needed, they are perfect as they are. A great place to fuel up for a day of intense shopping!

Testing out a new burger joint at Tyson's Mall today. The burger is fair, fries are good, milkshake good. The burger ingredients seem fresh but in my opinion, nothing extraordinary for the money and compared to other burger establishments I go to. I didn't see the value in spending $15 and change for a regular burger, fries, and shake. Lighting is somewhat dim. Girl at cash register wasn't too friendly and only one person behind the counter smiled. But if you're at the mall, it's not a terrible choice if you want a fairly good burger and service was reasonably fast. I may try again but not sure. 3 out of 5 stars.

Great customer service.. It was my first time. I was in the mood for a burger but than I opted to order the turkey burger instead. It was delicious! There was gongozola cheese mixed in. There secret mojo sauce was super tasty. Yum. I also loved that they had old 80s enlarged record cover art on the wall. I will go back to try their burgers. I sneaked peeks at other diners' burgers and it seemed soooo good. Not bad for a burger joint!

Came here with a friend for lunch. We wanted to eat at CAVA at first, but as I'm sure many know, the line is hella long. Coming in here, no line. Menu was a bit confusing, so I just went simple and ordered The Burger with Fresh Ingredients. My friend did the same but with lettuce "bun" instead of the regular bun and added avocado. We also got to decide how we want our burgers done (medium please). We waited for about 5 mins for our food (we had a buzzer). They forgot my friend's avocado, so she went back and got it. Our burgers were good. Not a big deal, but it was yummy.

I'm a big burger fan and BGR doesn't disappoint. You can overload your burger with toppings and go hog wild. Fries are consistently good and they serve a decent portion (bit much usually). Soda fountain has all sorts of bizarre flavors you probably didn't even know existed. Wait times are decent especially if you consider the lunch-time line at Cava next door. The only problem I've ever really had with this place was the ordering process for a custom burger, because the staff expects you to list toppings in a certain way and if you don't they get confused and might miss a thing here and there.

I went there today and got a Greek. First of all I ordered it medium and it was raw in the middle. Second the bun was entirely soaked and gross. Finally there was almost no sauce. It was not worth $15 after tax

  • Wonder K.

It's a little pricey for a burger joint but it's delicious. If you feel like splurging a little on burger go here. If you don't want to stand I line to get Greek chipotle, go here.

Not only am I a macaron snob, but I'm definitely a burger snob as well. Although I can occasionally enjoy a plain cheeseburger from time to time, I prefer gourmet burgers because: 1) I love the wide array of toppings that you can add on to make it more than just a regular burger, 2) Sometimes there are different mixes of meats you can choose from beyond beef, and 3) I like the idea of having organic, green, and healthier food options. I've had a crazy craving for burgers and decided to check BGR out with my boyfriend. The way that it works here is that you order and pay at the front and they give you a pager that buzzes when your food is ready. I ordered the sliders and a side of the onion rings with rosemary and garlic on top. My boyfriend ordered The Burger medium well with all of the toppings included. It took approximately 15 minutes to get our food, and once I took the first bite... I was pretty underwhelmed. The mojo sauce was pretty much Thousand Island dressing and the beef was overcooked (they didn't ask for my preference but I didn't mind well done that day) and beyond well done. The onion rings were crispy but they literally overloaded it with rosemary and garlic cloves (if I put them all together, it would probably amount to half a garlic bulb!) so it definitely took over the actual onion rings. Although my boyfriend ordered a medium well burger, it was more like medium rare because there was blood bleeding out of the burger onto the tissue paper... I would suggest ordering one up for those who have a preference. I liked how the restaurant played 80s and 90s hits and the overall retro feel throughout the restaurant, but I'll probably opt for Elevation Burger next time if I have a burger craving while at the mall.

I avoided this place because people have told me their burgers were way too salty, but I decided to try out for myself. Their burgers are amazing! I think it's seasoned very well and it's a good size. They have a lot of different types of burgers and the ingredient pairings are awesome! Onion rings are HUGE and chewy/crispy batter. French fries are doused in roasted garlic and rosemary!!!! It's pricey but I think it was well worth it comparing to other burger joints on portion size and flavor. Kept me full all day but hey it was worth it.

This place has both a solid selection of unique burgers and a nice list of fresh ingredients to create your own "Legendary Burger". My favorite burger so far has to be the "The Greek". Lamb, Tzatziki, feta, cucumber, red onion, lettuce and tomato. The perfect combination to a fresh tasting non traditional burger. The regular fries are pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. Next time i'm there I'll try out the sweet potato fries and a aged beef patty.

Wow. I was so disappointed by the "Lobster Roll" they other. I put quotations because it is only a lobster roll in name. It was just lukewarm and wet lobster meat stuffed on tasteless bread with more lettuce than anything. Both my co-worker and I got a groupon and were very excited to try the place. What a let down. The only good thing was the fries. Do not get the "lobster roll" it's a scam!!!

Went to the new BRG at Tysons Corner (located inside the mall). The location is totally hidden, you won't ever find it unless you're looking for it. But, the burgers are the same as the ones at any BRG, sadly. I wrote this rating scale a few months back, and I've changed it around a bit. Here is the new, fight me if you want to but its the truth version! 1. Elevation Burger 2. Burger 7 3. Five Guys 4. Good Stuff 5. BGR 6. Shake Shack 7. Rays Hellburger Yes, these burgers are all different depending on the size, taste, healthy vs non healthy scale that you're looking at, but my ratings are based on taste, quality, value for your money for the burger only. BGR is a safe choice if you're at the mall and are in the mood for a burger. They do have sweet potato fries, and even better, they also sell sweet potato tater tots. If you're a SPL (sweet potato lover) its worth it to try, although I tried and I still prefer the shape of the fry to the tater tot, I'm still glad I tried it!

It's pricey, but it's a great place for a different type of burger. I've been here a few times and tried a few items on their menu. The wait has never been long, either. Their onion rings are massive, but you only get a few. You'll probably spend $15/person at this place, which is pricey for burgers.

    (4)
  • Chloe K.

Stopped by on my break today and regret it. I ordered onion rings after craving them all day and was thoroughly disappointed. They clearly rushed to make them. The first one I bit into was still cold, the rest were soggy and not crispy at all. On top of this, the bottom of the container was covered in about 3 tablespoons of grease. Needless to say I threw them out and spent the rest of my work day hungry.

  • Monica H.

Good burgers, awesome sweet potato fries, and I love that mojo sauce is on the menu. I could do with shorter lines and fewer upcharges for things like turkey burgers, cheese, and sweet potato fries -- sometimes it feels like to get the item I really want, I end up spending $15! That being said, I keep coming back, so you know their food is good. Small place, inconspicuous entrance. I bet it's confusing when the lines for BGR and Cava start growing parallel to one another.

Tuna Burger: Awesome. 4 Stars. Expensive but awesome. Only complaint was the tuna steak began to slide apart 1/2 through the burger while eating it. I ordered it medium rare and it was grilled nicely. Turkey Burger: 5 stars for this burger.! So good. I got everything on it and I added bacon. A little cheaper than the tuna burger at @ $11. So worth it. I still think about this burger. Veggie Burger: The best veggie burger I've ever had! Huge. 4 stars. Only compliant is that is fell apart drastically 1/2 way through it. I recommend ordering it extra well done to try and curb this, but have not been back to try that custom order. The Wellington: 4 stars. So. Damn. Good. And I had this plain, meaning that I did not order any extra toppings other than the way it comes. The green standard asparagus fries are awesome as well. Happy to see healthier side options. Overall, BGR is expensive but tasty. I worked close to this new location for a short few weeks and am actually depressed this week that I'm not at that office location anymore because I can't go to BGR for lunch.

Good burgers but very pricey. They do use prime dry aged beef so it substantiates the cost. Our burgers were juicy and prepared well at the right temperatures. Their onion rings are nice and thick and have nice crunch to them. Expect to spend about $15 for a burger, fries and drink. Little more with different toppings and sides.

Burger was "eh..." Had the turkey burger and although it was a good size, I felt it was too seasoned. It overwhelmed everything else including the Swiss cheese. Atmosphere was good however. Loved the 80s music they were playing. :)

I like there burgers a lot. Good flavor and made to order. The fries are so so, but onion rings are good (a little greasy). They also have sweet potato tots which is a nice option. Recommend ordering your burger medium if you like medium rare. I ordered my medium rare the last go around and it was too rare.

I returned from BGR joint 2 hours ago. Here is the review: My husband and 2 kids walked in and ordered 2 veggie burgers and 1 lettuce wrap with a veggie burger inside it. After 20 minutes, we receive our order, my daughter had asked for mushrooms and noticed them missing. I go in and mention this, this guy comes over and just takes the lettuce wrap tosses some mushrooms and hands it back. Then, my daughter had 2 bites and said that it tasted funny. I looked at her burger and had my doubts. I walked inside again and asked them what this burger was made up of, they said "Beef". I was mortified, I said, how could they mess up my order when I specifically asked for a veggie burger. This lady who made our order comes up and very rudely says that we ordered ham burger and not veggie. When all this was going on, the guy who added mushrooms to our order, looks at me menacingly and says "I will take care of your order". No apology nothing! We are vegetarians and it is a religious and a cultural thing too for us, we consider cow as a sacred animal. That guy (Zachary) even refused to refund our bill, we hadn't even touched our order. We lost our appetite, finally, very reluctantly, he took that said burger off of our check. We lost $24 for nothing. Is this customer service?? I probably would have forgiven them if they had offered a simple apology, but, no, that was a little too much to expect I guess. This is by far the worst experience we had. I would not recommend this place for anyone. Stay away.

Food here is solidly delish. But getting yelled at by some mean woman employee for sitting in some magically reserved section (how were we supposed to know??) left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. The rest of the tables were dirty anyway . . .

To start. I help brand restaurants so I will just give some tips and the truth. Slow service to start but I will just throw it out there that I think they haven't been open long. I had a lobster roll/sandwich and it wasn't fresh lobster and the claws were very dried out. It also had a weird sweet sauce that had a honey mustard taste to it. Would have been a lot better if served fresher, warm with butter and arugula with a better bun, toasted with crunch instead of cold sesame burger buns My husband's burger was over charred and to thick to get a good taste of the burger. He had the Cubano burger. Just a big mess. The decor was also very off. I think this place could be a lot better but needs a lot of work. Flavor wasn't there, seasoning was missing and the old 80's decor is not a spot a grownup wants to hang out. Cava, next door is a good example of proper design, prompt service and some attention to detail (I had nothing to do with Cava)

Pretty happy with my visit here. We were going to a late movie and wanted some dinner before. I really enjoyed my burger. I felt the ingredients in my food were really fresh! Prices here are average, can be a little pricey but I like BGR more than Five Guys now :)

Checked out the BGR: The Burger Joint for lunch today. It was decent. A little pricey, but the burgers were good. Fries here were okay but the onion rings my kids split were much better. Would love to see more variety in shakes...but alas it was Chocolate, Strawberry, Vanilla and the flavor of the month was Twinkie??!?? They also have one of the cool soda machines which adds flavors to your regular sodas...which is total love for me! Alright hurry up go check it out and get that Twinkie flavor milkshake and let me know how it is...I wasn't brave enough to try it. ;)

I've been to many high end burger places having recently moved from LA and this place is legit. I'm pregnant so I had my burger cooked well done, which is not my preference and it was still delicious. I love all the options and sides. The dry aged beef definitely makes a difference taste wise.

I keep wanting to like this place but it keeps being disappointing. Burgers: somehow always dry and a little chalky, even when cooked medium-rare. Outside of burger is always tough. Not very flavorful, either. Take a look at the pictures posted here- does this look like a juicy burger to you? Service: adequate bordering on surly, depending on who's behind the counter. Toppings: the pickles and mojo sauce are very good, but there's NEVER enough on the burger. And if you order extra, they'll give you one extra pickle and a half teaspoon of mojo sauce, which is actually 50% more than you normally get (two pickles and a teaspoon of mojo). Fantastic concept but this is not the place to go if you want the kinda burger that makes your eyes roll back in your head. I have absolutely no idea how the hell they managed to win third best burger in the world- the judges must have been vegetarian or something.

I'm writing this review based on the only thing I've tasted at BGR - the Greek burger. Its lamb, not beef, but toppings were spot on. I really enjoyed it. Watch my YouTube review of BGR here: youtube.com/watch?v=smy9… The Greek has a patty made of ground leg of lamb, seasoned with cumin, mint and garlic. Topped with tzatziki sauce and feta cheese. Served on a fresh, buttery-toasted brioche bun. I substituted the raw onions with grilled onions. The burger had a true Greek flavor to it - cooked very well - with garlic flavor. Bun was a little too thick. I also had the onion rings - giant - but a little oily. It was a little expensive - $21 for burger, onion rings, and soda.

Although I still don't agree with the prices, the burger is pretty good once I tried a smaller size with less toppings. I had the onion rings instead of the fries this time and they were pretty good.

Okay, I admit it: somewhat pricey for a burger...but it's good! And "good" is saying a lot if you compare it to other joints where the burgers are cheap, but so-so. Burgers and fries eaters are a passionate bunch and we get excited when we have a GREAT burger place to go to that is reasonable (still none in the DC area)...and one is sure to come along. Until then, however, BGR The Burger Joint will be one of our first choices when going out for a burger and fries and not one of our last.
