Malones of Manassas Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

We have been to Malone's several times and have been thrilled with food, ambiance, and service. They are working very hard to make the restaurant a "go to" place for the Manassas area - something that has been desperately needed in recent years! My daughter and her prom group (20) also went for a pre-prom meal that was enjoyed by all. Food and wine prices are well within reason and are of wonderful quality. Malone's is a great change from the typical Northern Virginia chain restaurants. My family and I would highly recommend it and look forward to going back again soon. Also, keep an eye out for live music that makes the experience even more enjoyable!

My husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary. It was incredible! I had the pan seared scallops - they were the best that I have ever tasted. The restaurant offers a great setting, excellent service and suave atmosphere. You have to try it!

We went back for Christmas Eve dinner and again the following Sunday for lunch. The noise level was way better this time and the wife and I could have a great conversation. The food is simply amazing, not just good, but amazing. We tried a raw bison appetizer that honestly I would never have tried without the wonderful review of the waitress. Leap of faith turned out to be worth it...texture, taste, everything...yum. I had the sirloin and the wife enjoyed sea bass...our conversation was really a lot about the tastes of what we were enjoying :-) Our waitress, and I can't remember her name (sorry), but she also works at a gun store (discovered that during a little small talk) was perfect. She balanced the right amount of knowledge of the food, wine, and never let us feel forgotten, but not hovering. All of her recommendations were spot on. Probably our favorite nice place to eat in this area.

Quiet romantic lunch on a snowy Saturday afternoon. Service by Javier was outstanding. Beer....out of this world and food was great too.

I can not say enough good things about this fine establishment. The quality of the food is nothing short of amazing and its complemented with awesome live entertainment on the weekends. Also found the draft beer selection approaching perfection. The owner is quite personable too and you can tell he genuinely wants all patrons to have an excellent experience.

My sister and I took our grandmother here because they had such great reviews and she was craving steak. When we arrived, we were one of two parties in the inside dining area and noticed that they have Sunday brunch until 3pm. They worked with my grandmother to get her a side of steak which I appreciated. My sisters eggs benedict was great, but my beef panini was not as good. More disapointing was the awful service!! I ended up drinking my sisters water because no one came to refil our drinks until we were basically all done with our food. Seeing a server sitting at the empty bar laughing while we are trying to get anyones attention to get a check is not what I had wanted for a rare outing with my grandmother.

Our first trip to Malones was a success! After a recommendation and checking out their website, Facebook and online menus, we decided to have an intimate family lunch for our wedding reception yesterday. My first interaction was with Chevy via phone and she was very pleasant in giving me information and pointing me in the right direction. Being a large group of 20, we were referred to Bill, the catering director. He was wonderful in guiding me and instrumental in making sure our special day was a success! Our server was Zaid (sp) and he was incredibly patient with our large group. Chevy was also on staff yesterday and was kind enough to wrangle our group for a great picture. The food was wonderful! Everything came out of the kitchen beautifully. In our group we had the burger, Chef Scott's Pigano, the cheese board, Cobb Salad, Salmon plate, Dirty Chicken Bites, Potato Dumplings and more! The pickled veggies, deviled eggs and the Pigano are excellent. We are looking forward to our next trip....for dinner!

Went to Malone's for the first time. We were looking for somewhere we hadn't been previously for a special occasion and we weren't disappointed. First, the service was excellent. Attentive, without being obtrusive. They don't have a huge menu. Based on our meals, I believe they have decided to do a shorter menu well rather than a large menu with items they may not do as well as they would like. For an appetizer, we shared a burrata - mozzarella with carpaccio on arugula with a balsamic and pomegranate reduction. Very good. Our main courses were the Salmon "Scampi", which my wife said was excellent, and the Bone-in Pork Chop, which I can attest was excellent as well. For desert, we had Creme Brulee and Lemon Zest cheesecake, with espresso (for me) and cappuccino for my wife. A nice ending to a great meal. Definitely recommend.

It's sad, I know they have no recourse but a "service dog" (yeah right) was let in, you could smell it...it was licking the table, people were petting it....I love dogs but they do not belong in restaurants. An actual service dog, I have no problem with....this woman just didn't want to leave the dog at home. Real service dogs don't lick, socialize etc... Pathetic. I feel bad for the restaurant, I won't come back which is a shame.

Wow this place was a disaster. So I am kind of surprised with all the good reviews but I just didn't see it. Where to start? I took my parents and my good friend here so let me go thru the orders: My dad ordered the franks and beans 2.0 and the beans were undercooked. To me that's a big no no and that dish was an epic fail. My friend and my mom ordered the surf and turf which was a small filet mignon and crab cake which should really be lobster but that's ok. The steak was way salty and the crab cake was average at best and the string beans were frozen and blanched and were raw. This "special" cost us 43 dollars a plate....laughable. My dish was the rabbit and sausage, talk about a disjointed, all over the place and a tasteless dish. The rabbit filet wrapped in bacon was small, the spaetzel was overcooked, clumps of bitter greens scattered around the dish and the jous was lacking flavor. On top of the fact that it was cold just made me angry that I paid 25+ dollars for it. In the hopes to salvage the evening we were hoping to have great desserts, but sad to say we were disappointed again. The blonde brownie was supposed to be warm and moist instead it was cold and dry and drizzled with some "Hershey's" caramel. The plum cobbler was overly sweet and was served in a huge tub that could of fed an army. The service started off great but started tailing off significantly after ordering dinner. Our waiter never asked us how everything was which is something that is supposed to be routine. As a result of this disaster, Me and my friend were sick for the whole evening and the day after. Aside from the great ambiance I suggest you stay away from this place as far as you can.

The wife and I got the memo on Old Town Manassas Restaurant week a bit late, and we only had two nights to explore and enjoy. Or so we thought. Malone's was our pick for Saturday night - Sept 28th - advertised on the Manassas Restaurant Week website as the last night. But when we asked for the restaurant week menu, we were told that it ended the previous night. The wife and I were a bit confused, but the server checked and said that it did end "last night" but that "they could still offer it to us" if we wanted it. The menu was a bit different than as listed on the website as well. But at the end this was no big thing - the menu they offered was actually MUCH better than we expected, and we got what we wanted with no fuss in the end. Reservations are recommended. I figured "Hey, it's Manassas, no big thing" but we were asked if we had reservations when we arrived, but they were able to accommodate us with the same small table at the corner of the bar that Jodi C mentions. I guess its not a popular spot. It is a U-shaped table that, for two diners, has you sitting side-by-side instead of face to face. (The wife and I always find it weird to see couples choosing to sit side-by-side when dining out.) They started us off with some awesome house-made bread, a sign of the great things to come. The restaurant week offering was a 3-course meal for $35. For the first course, my wife got their Brunswick stew - an odd offering for a place that positions itself as high-end/fine dining. But this is where fine dining is going - offering very refined versions of classic dishes - and the Brunswick stew was fantastic. As was my choice - perfectly cooked potato gnocchi served on a bed of jumbo lump crabmeat. For the second course, we both went with the truffle mac and cheese. No real truffles, of course, but a nice balance of truffle oil flavor and cheese. For the third course I chose the carrot panna cotta, which tasted a lot like pumpkin pie. The chutney served with it was a bit strong and didn't match in my opinion, but the panna cotta was perfectly done. But I did prefer my wife's dessert, the molten chocolate cake. Another big plus - this fine dining restaurant had gotten on the beer nerd train, offering selections such as Port City Essential Pale Ale, Dogfish Head Seasonal Punkin Ale, and Boulevard's 80 Acre Wheat (which I'd never seen on tap before in Manassas). It's not quite at Monza-level, but it's definitely a more diverse and thoughtful selection than City Square offers. And they have a more casual (and cheaper) bar menu. If you are looking for a change of pace to Monza's on-tap selection, Malones bar is worth a shot. Service was solid - not quite as attentive and "on the ball" as City Square or M&S, but there we had no complaints. And the food quality and portion size/value for the $35 Restaurant Week menu at Malones were superior to the other two (which were also $35.) We had heard a lot of good things about this new gem in Old Town Manassas, and I am happy to say that - from our experience - they deserve every ounce of that praise.

Went for father's day brunch. Prefixed price was not advertised bumping prices from $12-$15 per ate to $40. Food was overcooked. My son got a brownie desert you couldn't cut with a knife. Took 45 minutes from the end of dinner until desert came. Wait staff seamed disinterested and unconcerned. Was told that Mr. Malone wanted to apologize so I reached out after leaving. Received one short email back but nothing since despite telling me he would call to discuss. Seems like more of the same service. Hard to believe after dropping $40/plate.

I wanted to give this place zero stars, but went with two stars because there are a couple of great employees there. Unfortunately, they were: 1) not serving us and 2) definitely not the owner. We (there were 6 of us and a couple other people showed up later) sat at the tables at the downstairs patio to watch the musician. The server served one table for dinner, walked by us several times to collect the check/payment, and never once asked us if we needed anything or even looked at us. We went up to the upstairs bar every time we needed a beer and the bartenders asked why: we let them know we didn't have a server. We never got a server even after letting the other staff know so we kept ordering at the bar; the staff brought our food (no drink service) to us and never returned to clean up the dishes. Also, I'm a pescatarian and thought we were going to have some dinner; there was literally nothing there I could eat. To top it off, they have only a couple of crappy beers on tap (all the other bars in old town have fabulous beers on tap!) and maybe a couple of non-crappy bottled beers. Then the fun part! After a couple of hours, the musician had stopped, the plates had piled up, and a ruckus occurred upstairs; Mr. Malone had grabbed someone by the collar and was yelling in his face and dragging him outside of the upstairs portion of the bar, almost down the stairs and out of his restaurant. Mr. Malone was intoxicated; it was like an exciting scene from a Bar Rescue episode and I was hoping Jon Taffer would come out of no where and set this guy straight, but it didn't happen. Instead, Mr. Malone yelled at our (quiet, stunned) table to "clean all that shit up!" referring to the plates, glasses, etc that had piled up because we had no server. I can only assume in his drunken stupor he assumed we were his staff, just sitting down on the job on his patio. Anyway, I will stick to Monzas, Okras, Philly Tavern while visiting old town...

I had been here when it was the tapas place before and was super happy to see that the worst tapas place I had ever been to was gone. The reviews looked promising so I decided to give it a whirl. The place was empty at 7:00pm on a Monday and we were seated next to the only other diners. I started with an unimpressive glass of a red blend and we decided to split the crab cake. The crab cake came out and was really pretty bad. It was overfried and the sauce was overwhelming that single sad fried crabcake. It was pushed around the plate and then was left for the basura. Our waiter didn't seem to notice that more than half of the single serve crab cake was left and didn't say anything and we just let him take it. For dinner, I went with the rib eye. It was also a disappointment. When it came out it looked like it had been under the heat lamp and had died. The actual taste wasn't as bad as it looked but definitely not worth the $33 for the steak. There was very little ribbing in the steak so it felt like I was eating something closer to a strip. The asparagus were boring with no seasoning and the potatoes were meh with a chimmichurri sauce which I don't like. My friend got the salmon. I had a small bite and thought they did a decent job. It wasn't over cooked. Service was friendly if a bit awkward and I did like the rolls with the seeds on them. I hate to give two stars but if you hover over the two stars it says "Meh. I've experienced better." I know I have so two stars it is.

I've been avoiding Malone's. I've heard mixed reviews and to be honest, I've seen some of the staff in action around Old Town (socializing and such) and never really thought too highly of what I had seen. Our friend's birthday was Saturday and we really wanted to go somewhere different. Off the top of my head, I mentioned Malone's and was surprised to call and find out they had an open reservation at a small table in the corner of the bar. The hostess on the phone was very nice. We arrived and were seated. I of course hadn't been there since it was La Capila, and the first thing I noticed was the musty mildew smell that hung around was gone. The downstairs has also been revamped and is clean, bright and very well decorated in whites and neutrals. This is a huge difference from the drab dark dingy wood it was before. Our server was very nice - she offered us her suggestions and was very attentive. Here are some of the things I noticed... Not a fan of the bar tenders appearance. The servers were dressed in uniform attire. The bar staff were in dresses and heels. I know this doesn't affect the outcome of the dining experience, but it just seemed off to me. The owner had his cell phone plugged in and paperwork scattered across the very end of the bar - again, not a life changing issue, but I feel like if I am paying $200.00 for dinner for 3, that perhaps the paperwork could be done in his office. My sister and I ordered wine, and my friend ordered the pomegranate martini, it was undrinkable. We are well seasoned drinkers. Well seasoned! It tasted of rubbing alcohol. The bus boys were spot on! We never had a dish or a water glass sit empty! Now onto the food... I just wasn't expecting what happened. It was... wonderful! The appetizers, we had the fried green tomato topped with crab and arugula salad, it was simply breathtakingly good. We also had the mushroom and goat cheese plate... the roasted garlic and red peppers were amazing. Each appetizer was $9.00, comparably speaking, Monza and Carmelo's are in TROUBLE! My sister ordered the Scallops and my friend and I both ordered the Flank Steak. Cooked to perfection. We were not given steak knives, (another thing I felt was a bit odd) however, the steak was so perfect, we literally cut it with butter knives. I read on Yelp that people seems to think the menu was "red meat heavy". Well.... It's a steak house, so that is to be expected. BUT... I saw, pork tenderloin, lamb chops, two chicken dishes, trout, salmon, shrimp, scallops, mahi-mahi, and three steaks... so I am not really sure of the issue, seems pretty balanced to me. I have to say... I am pretty impressed and can't wait to go back!

Living in Manassas, you would not think there's a "nice" place to eat, "nice" defined here as the kind of high-end, four-star restaurants you would have to make the trip into the District of Columbia to experience. Malone's of Manassas brings all the presentation and panache of DC to a historic church-turned-restaurant. My wife and I have gone here often, and are regulars at this place. We have YET to experience a bad meal there. Friends we take there have yet to experience a bad meal there. My PARENTS love this place. Go on -- I dare you. Try to find something bad, fair, or meh on the menu. It's not going to happen. From appetizers to desserts, this is a well-rounded, completely-satisfying dining experience with plenty of atmosphere and ambiance to make the evening unforgettable. Never a bad meal, and always the best of service. I love this place, and Pip and I always look forward to eating there because we know it's going to be a great meal.

I hate to say anything negative about this restaurant because it's so beautiful, but... Ok so let's start with the positives: I had reservations on a Saturday night for six, which began as eight and then changed to ten and then to six...they never gave me an ounce of attitude about changing the reservation so many times. So, their customer service is great, and so was the dinner service. The waitress was fun, knowledgeable, helpful and prompt. The wine was great, and overall we had a wonderful evening. Just one thing...the filet mignon...so darn dry! It was weird, it was one of the most tender filets I've ever had, but soooo dry. It was almost grainy. I think for $35, that steak should be juicy, but I left disappointed with it. Everyone else said their meals were fine (they had salmon), and the buffalo carpaccio was to die for. Still, those steaks... :-( I'll definitely return, but not to have those.

We still really enjoy Malones but they need to update the menu. I feel like it's the same one as back in the winter. Larry is wonderful and makes the best Dirty Martinis!

Outstanding evening! Wonderful atmosphere/ambience. The service was great and the steak(filet) was done to perfection. THE BEST dining experience that my fiancé and I have had in months! This was my third visit and we will definitely return again and again! Many thanks for for such a complete dining experience!!

I ate here for the first and last time in December. I'm writing the review now because I just got the yelp app and my friends just went there reporting the same shortcomings. The staff puts all their focus on a couple tables where folks are ordering tons of expensive booze, getting liquored up and loud. The Food was was colder than my mouth by the time I had proper flatware. I could have gotten HOT food and been treated like a king while spending half the money. Sorry to the owner of Malones I only spent 130 dollars in your establishment. I won't make that mistake again.

First impressions are everything. Hostess was unforgivably rude. Service, even at a relaxed pace at a nice establishment, was so and unfocused. Frequent patrons of Carmelo's, Monza, Okra's, Thai Secret and everyone else in Old Town. Malone's won't be getting a second chance.

I really wanted to love this place. I'll keep my review short and sweet. Nice atmosphere, decent service, food "okay"....If the prices were cut in half, I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, but it's significantly overpriced for what you receive. I had the shortrib cannelloni and my husband had the oxtail fettuccine. The ends of my cannelloni were charred. My husband's fettuccine was suspiciously absent of oxtail; his dish was small and unsatisfying and had about a tablespoon of meat. For dessert we shared the congo bar, which (much like my husband's entree) was short on some main ingredients...you had to look for the chocolate, walnuts, and pecans. We won't be back for dinner, but are excited about the upstairs bar which should be opening soon.

Owner responded to my review with disdain and disrespect. Will stay well away from this establishment. There are better places in the area for a much better price. Atmosphere is still not improved and I do not recommend this restaurant to my enemy's let alone my friends.

This place gets good reviews... but I'm guessing it's because they don't have much competition. Overall the food was mediocre. Our table ordered the chicken, the mac & cheese, and the rib eye. The rib eye was ordered medium and came out damn near raw with a healthy sear on one side. The chicken for some reason was rubbery and potentially under cooked. The mac & cheese should have been called mac with a dusting of cheese because there wasn't much to it beyond raw chives, macaroni, and peas. For the price I'd dine elsewhere... but I'm guessing there aren't many good alternatives that aren't chain restaurants in this area. The kitchen needs to step up their game...

I liked the previous restaurant that occupied this space, which was a Tapas bar and restaurant. Malones is attempting to be a more refined experience and while the food was delicious, it certainly was underwhelming considering the price. The wine list is good but at 5:45 why do I have to eat in the bar space as opposed to an actual dining room? This isn't a major city, it's Old Town Manassas which isn't remotely close to the other "Old Town's" within a 50 mile radius. If you're vegetarian there is exactly one option for you - butternut squash risotto which was underwhelming. Meat eaters have a choice between salmon, chicken, duck, pork chop, and a couple of different cuts of steak. Overall good but not great on the intangibles like atmosphere. Staff was pretty friendly and upped the ante.

We've been to Malone's 4 times over the last 2 months and have never been disappointed. If busy and we haven't made reservations, we happily sit at the bar and chat. We've taken friends there on 2 of our visits and everyone was quite impressed with the upscale food and atmosphere, and the friendly staff. We are a bit of foodies and always leave planning our next trip there to try more items on the menu. It's a welcome addition to Old Town Manassas.

My friends and I had a birthday gathering at Malones. The food was excellent, our server was fantastic and the overall feel of the restaurant was wonderful! I would highly recommend as a place to have a nice dinner out with your spouse, or cocktails with friends. Menu selection was good and the wine and cocktail selection was even better. Can't wait to go back!

Went for the first time for a dinner party. The atmosphere was very nice and the entire staff was welcoming and inviting. We had the fried oysters, which were just Ok for me. The shrimp and grits were great. The potato soup was awesome. The ribeye was huge and cooked perfectly. We went back again for a family dinner and I couldn't resist the ribeye once again....cooked perfectly! One of the appetizer specials was mussels in some kind of sofrito concoction...IT WAS DELICIOUS! 2 adults, 3 kids, 5 different meals choices and appetizers and they were all DELICIOUS! This has become one of our "entertaining guests" spots. The chef and the owner came out to meet us and chat, and the wait staff is very friendly as well.

The only major downside to our visit was the loud customers at the bar. I am looking forward to when the finish the upstairs and the downstairs dining will be a much improved experience. Javier, our waiter, was very attentive and nice. The fried oysters were great again, but the Brussels sprout clams I was not so hot about. It was good, but I was a bit disappointed. We also had the mussels appetizer which had a nice sauce that wasn't too heavy. For our entrees, three of us got the duck which was served with some wonderful wild mushrooms and the creamy polenta was very good. The sauce wasn't too sweet which often happens with duck sauces, but just right. We had a nice bottle of cotes de Rhone with it. My wife got the scallops which she enjoyed very much, although I had expected large U10 scallops, they were tiny and made into an interesting sort of hash with sausage and vegetables. It was very good an the red pepper coulis was perfect with it. I was just surprised to see it because I thought thy would be the large scallops. I've flopped between 3 stars and 4 a couple of times. I really like the feel of the place and for Manassas it was wonderful. It is a bit pricy, but the portions and food quality was also good. I've had cocktails there before which were great and the wine selection was nice, but I'd like to see some finer wines on there that don't always go with a high price. What made me decide to give it a 4, however, was an excellent sweet potato panna cotta. It was perfect for the season and the ending to a nice meal. I haven't had panna cotta this good in a long long time.

Not bad, but has much more potential. The staff was pleasant, but disorganized. Our waitress wasn't coordinated with the food runners. Some used plates were removed, some were not. Appetizers and dinner came out in parts. Wine was brought with only one glass, after tasting it was not poured, it just sat on the table. No one thought about making room for food on the table, we had to rearrange the table every time food came. There were nine tables, about five wait staff, a food runner, a bartender, and two other persons who appeared to work there, so they weren't exactly overloaded. The appetizers were excellent, with some unique options and flavors. Salads were fresh and tasted great. Dinner was good but nothing special. Most of the dishes were severely lacking in seasoning, especially basics like salt and pepper. Portions were uneven. The lamb chops easily were enough for two people, the skirt steak seemed like an appetizer portion. Sides seemed to be an afterthought. Dessert also was uneven. The molten chocolate cake was excellent, the cheesecake also was very good. The bourbon bread pudding had flavor, but was a bit dry and uninspired. Some sauce on the side may have helped. It's a small dining area, sitting right next to the bar. That makes for a loud environment, and it's very difficult to carry on a conversation with someone not seated right next to you. There are no big problems, just a lot of little ones. But a few fixes would make this a great dinner place.

We just finished a WONDERFUL brunch at Malones with our large family. We are very pleased to have a fine brunch spot in Manassas. We have 4 children under the age of 6 and they all loved their plates. I tried the classic eggs benedict and it was perfect. We will most definitely be regular customers for the brunch and hope to return soon to try the dinner. I highly recommend Malones if you want to enjoy a NICE sit down dining experience in Old Town Manassas.

I came here for brunch and it was pretty good. My only complaint is that brunch menu is a little one dimensional with usual basic offerings 3-4 types of Benedict's, 4-5 types of omelets, 5-6 types of sandwiches. If your looking for a chef that is going to stretch your imagination and be inventive- look elsewhere. I took my mother here and the menu seemed right in line with that age group. The only item that was a perhaps a little different creative was the crab and brie omelet - which should tell you something right there. No, this is a basic kinda brunch place with more a creative brunch cocktails menu than brunch food menu offerings. The cocktail list was extensive - which made it seem that the bar manager was showing off more then the chef! Don't get me wrong about the food though - we ordered crab Benedict and an omelet and they were cooked extremely well with quality ingredients. The chef came around personally and made sure all the tables were taken care of (nice touch). The place itself is nicely furnished in the old All Saints Church and is a bit funky, but well done. The cocktails were good - the service prompt and polite. I just wish they gave the chef here a little more leeway to open up the menu and offer something more than just a hotel brunch. The blueberry muffins that come to the table as a complimentary item reek of Costco and this place should try harder to get away from that type of thing - it's got a lot of the right things going for it and would probably benefit from a snappier menu brunch offering. I will be back to see what dinner is like.

I was very impressed with the menu and the food. The decibel level was a bit high with the bar in the same room with the dining, but the food was well above average and the wine list had good choices. I'm a food professed food snob and this was as good as it gets. Update. We have been back several times and have always had a great meal. Went on a Sunday which was wonderful. The bar crowd is pretty non existent during the week and that is the time to really enjoy this place for a quiet meal. They also catered a Chamber business after hours last night - what a fabulous spread! Looking forward to the upstairs being finished but worth the weekend crowds for a good meal.

All I can say is WOW! We are 30 year residents of Old Town Manassas and have seen many incarnations of 'La Chapel' - which we loved when we first moved to town. For some reason this location has been cursed for new restaurants trying to make a go of it but the 'Karma' is definitely back with Malone's. We walked in on Sat. night at 6:30pm and were kindly given a table even tho' we did not have reservations. The changes they have made to the interior are subtle but noticeable and much needed. Right now, only the downstairs is open (I think) but they are planning updates to the upstairs as well. Another reviewer mentioned that it was noisy, however we loved the 'vibe'. It was fun, energetic and comfortable. We had a wonderful waiter (Wolfgang) who recommended several drinks, appetizers etc. which we chose to follow - and were not disappointed! Definitely try the blueberry-tini -absolutely awesome! My husband had the stuffed trout and while I have NEVER liked trout, this is a must order! I will order that next time we go back. Not fishy at all and incredibly delicious! I had the pork which was also awesome! Save-room for the not-to-be missed Bourbon Bread Pudding. I often hesitate to order bread pudding because it is so heavy and dense, this was light and incredible! All-in-all, so happy that we finally have another wonderful restaurant in Old Town and look forward to going back!

The food and wine are excellent and the staff attentive. I consider the steak I had the second best one I've ever had- and I've dined out in DC (sad), Las Vegas (good), Iowa (they raise more beef than Texas), and New York (upstate is best). The ambience is loud given the bar being in the restaurant area. Not overly loud, but louder than one would expect for a fine meal. I hope the bar is moved upstairs as part of the remodel with dinner seating downstairs. Lighting, including window treatments, could be improved to provide flattering lights for romantic meals. The glass table with vase at the entrance and under the stairs interferes with special flow. Yeah, food is perfect so minor quibbling with decor is all I can do. I do not believe the building is handicapped accessible, a common problem for historic buildings. The limited menu is understandable given the restaurant's small size.

A much-needed and unexpected delight, a great, welcome addition to the fare, and the classiness, available in this part of the world, bringing us one step closer to Leesburg rather than Woodbridge. Atmosphere rocks, with superb, antique decor. The beef portions are generous, tender, and top-notch. Wines are great and reasonably priced, available by the glass @$7 +. Draft beers at the small, friendly bars include great craft beers. Appetizer and main dish choices are varied, with-it, and interesting, it's hard to choose just one of each. Soup was excellent, Caeser's salad quite good, desserts fabulous, you must save room for the chocolate melt-down cake orgy. Service was attentive and highly professional. Waiter got permission to open a bubbly for just one glass for the wife. Price was more than reasonable compared to what such fare would cost elsewhere. Going back soon to "worship" at this new temple to Epicurean excellence. Follow-on note: went back for a beer at happy hour, when, as it turns out, the semi-senior set crowds the bar like 20-somethings in Penn quarter DC on Friday night, a friendly and congenial ambience if unusual. Sad to report that the otherwise excellent draft beer was ruined by a not-clean glass with a quite unpleasant sink-water aroma. Malone's needs to fix the bar's glass-washing set-up (or re-train the bar-lady?). On the other hand they have plans to move the bar upstairs to the former church interior, so this problem will go away. More field research is thus indicated. And what a great improvement in usage for such a space that will be!

My girlfriend and I went to Malones for the first time for Sunday brunch last weekend. From our greeting by the host to our excellent excellent waiter, we had a wonderful experience. I'm trying to remember our waiter's name, but I think it was Javier. He was perfect. Great service. We started off with mocha coffee, and it was wonderful. And we both decided on the same thing: pulled chicken with a green chili sauce and grits, with sun-dried tomatoes. It was a fabulous dish! Deep flavor, just the right amount of seasoning. We also had mimosas, and split a crème brûlée. They were very good. We really enjoyed our meal for two reasons: the excellent service and the excellent food. If I had one negative, it was the manager on duty, who made a comment while we were eating our crème brûlée, and said "it goes straight to your hips." Um, all I could say was, "thanks for reminding me." For this restaurant, that comment was unexpected and unprofessional. That aside, it's a five-star rating and we will be back!

Food was good. Management SUCKS!!! Went for our 19th wedding anniversary. Food and wait staff were good and attentive. ISSUE - My wife called the restaurant and asked if they did anything special for anniversaries. The lady who answered the phone informed my wife that they would greet us upon arrival and one seated, a card would be placed on the table, and dessert would include a message of Happy Anniversary. None of this happened. By the time dessert came out I could see my wife was disappointed and this is when I learned of her efforts to make the night a little more special. I approached the on duty manager and explained the situation. Turns out she was the one who took my wife's call. She seemed surprised that nothing happened and said she would check into it. She never returned. We finished our meal, paid the check and got up to leave. As we were leaving I thanked the on duty manager for doing nothing to correct the issue. Kevin, the owner, overheard and asked what happened. I explained it to him at least 3 times and he never took ownership of the issue either. A simple apology to my wife would have sufficed. We were not looking for a free or discounted meal just acknowledgement that they did not follow though with what was offered to my wife.

Last night, I had the crab cake appetizer and the scallop entrée. The food was excellent,as was the service. The only reason I haven't rated Malones with 5 stars is because the cocktails were not good. Margaritas and Sangria are two of my favorites - theirs were memorable as being some of the worst I've ever had. I switched their house Pinot Noir, which was very good.

We have been to Malone's several times since it opened. Initially the food was unbelievable while the service was just awful. Unorganized process for seating, no one was on the same page, 20 minutes to get drinks, etc. But the food was so good we thought its a new reataurant, we will come back in a few months giving them time to work out the kinks. Well they did, to an extent. This past saturday we went and the service has really come around. Though we had an 845p reservation and were not seated until close to 920p, it was ok because the bartenders were great and ensured we had cocktails immediately. Once seated the waitress was very nice. Unfortunately, while the service is now great, the kitchen has gone downhill. I was so surprised I asked if they had changed Chefs, which they had. I ordered the rockfish, which was undercooked but edible, and so salty it tasted like it could have come out of a prepackaged meal. The black-eye pea medley that it was served with had almost no flavor whatsoever. My fiance ordered the crabcakes, which were highly minced and loaded with yellow pepper and breading filler. In addition, the string beans that were served with the crabcakes were cooked with large chunks of bacon/pork belly. Thinking they were mushrooms, she ate a bite. Having an allergy to pork, this was a real disappointment. Now, her allergy is of course her responsibility to manage, however string beans are a pretty safe bet and if they are going to be cooked and served in porkbelly that should be mentioned on the menu or by the server. We also ordered the risotto dish, which never arrived, so we didnt bother to mention it. All in all, the service has really come around, but the quality of food has taken a turn for the worse. It is too bad because the previous chef was fantastic. We wish them all the best as a local establishment, but after three tries we will not be going back... Especially at that price point. We will go for cocktails and the cheese platter, but that's it.

Very much enjoyed our dinner at Malones. Staff were friendly and professional, decor was upscale and well put together food was great and the atmosphere excellent. Nice to have something of this level in the Manassas area. Had the Fried Green Tomatos, the Mussels and the single Crab Cake for apps, Brie salad (skip this one) for salad course and the Lamb Chops and the Scallops for main courses. Very reasonable for the class of meal. john, our server was friendly and professional, the two ladies running the bar were very helpful and friendly - both introducing themselves - and Kevin the owner came to say hello and was constantly on the floor. I look forward to them opening the upstairs area as it will allow the downstairs to be a little more intimate(quiet) while having a larger, more casual space upstairs. When that happens - maybe a little tasting menu? Very nice, we will be back and would recommend it to others.

We went to dinner at Malone's for my birthday dinner on June 1st. It was fantastic! We had 2 appetizers - (1) fried oysters and (2) shrimp and grits. While both were really good (I'd have either one again, happily), the shrimp and grits were out of this world. For dinner, I ordered the crab-stuffed trout and my hubby had red snapper. Both were excellent. Service was exceptional. Our waiter was Javier - he was attentive but not a nuisance. Perfect!

I recently dined at Malone's. It's a beautiful restaurant, and has great service, but the food was inconsistent. We started with a Salad Caprese. I make this at home all the time, and theirs was really inferior. It was served ice cold, and with this dish, I find that room temperature works better - the flavors are more intense. Also the tomatoes were not even close to being ripe. If I was the chef and that's the best I had to work with for tomatoes, I would have 86'd the dish, rather than serve it like that. Next came shrimp and grits. The grits were creamy and the shrimp perfectly cooked. However, the overall flavor was too spicy for me and I could only eat it by drinking lots of ice water after every bite. I've had shrimp and grits all over the south, including many restaurants in Savannah and Charleston, and never had it this spicy. We also tried the crab cake, which was great. Lastly, dessert - we split the Bourbon Bread Pudding, and it too, was wonderful.

My boyfriend parked near by. We were curious about the place since it was a church. We stopped in to check it out. We were on our way to see the 4th of July fireworks. The female bartender and owner were very nice and allowed us to get a drink even though they weren't quite open yet (30 mins early). They let us go upstairs and check out what they were remodeling. We ended up staying 4 hours there. It is a nice place to have a special dinner date.

Me and my family came to Malone's for my birthday and had high expectations especially after reading such good reviews on yelp. We had a reservation for 7:30 and came a little late and they still weren't ready for us coming in. No big deal; the front of the house seemed a little disorganized. When ordering wine the waitress or bartenders didn't really know about the wine selection which is kinda annoying, but whatever On to the food: Me not liking shrimp restricts me from reporting how the appetizers we for were, but I heard they were great. The bread was okay, but nothing special Entree- my filet came out medium rare when I expressed I only like medium well, I sent it back. For almost 40 dollars I am going to have my steak cooked the way I like it. Flavor was good, but nothing I couldn't get somewhere else. Desert- we got the bread pudding and fried ice cream which were both really good Overall I wouldn't come back, it's nothing special and I would have rather gone to some place in fairfax. Malones however does have a unique and contemporary feel that's a nice change.

I've been here a few times and usually liked it. but in January, we had the world's worst waiter- Brandon. He wrote down our drink orders (there were three of us) and then returned three time to ask what we were drinking, and the returned a 4th time to tell us that they didn't have what we ordered. Same thing with dinner- wrote it down, came back to clarify, came back to tell us they didn't have it, we changed our order to something that they had, and then he delivered the wrong thing. We thought we were being punked- he was that bad. Then when it was time for the bill, he said he had removed a charge from the bill as an apology, but when I checked the bill, he had added something else that we didn't order at all. I saved my receipts, since this was a work event, and then when I got my credit card, he overcharged us and padded his tip! Very disappointing evening out.

Nice atmosphere. Staff was very good and attentive. Food was very good. Had a steak. Good quality. Chef knows how to make a medium cooked steak. Prices are fair. Will go back. Desserts were very good. Nice to see that a church was converted into something nice.

If you ever wished your best friend owned a restaurant, definitely come to Malones. The food is great (I had the Flat Iron Steak) and Kevin (the owner) makes you feel like you've known each other for years. The history of the restaurant is interesting as well.

This was our family's first experience here. It was because of Sunday night, we were not sure. So we tried to make a reservation through internet, but it said 'no reservation available before of after 2 hours of your desired time'. But when we made a phone call, we COULD make a reservation. In fact all the evening we were there was very empty. Obviously they do not check internet so well. Décor/ambience was nice. All of the servers were very friendly/nice. Food was nice. But I thought at this kind of restaurant usually bread comes with, but it did not. So I simply thought "well....it does not mean all the restaurants have bread service" until I saw next table got bread basket. And I found out all the table except our table had bread basket. But it is too late to say anything. Because at that time our entrées were done, and ready to leave. We spent a quite amount of money. But they did not pay an enough attention to us. And I wanted to have something warm like soup. On the menu, there was nothing mentioning about soup, and also no extra explanation from our server. But I read several comments on the YELP now about soup. Again lack of attention. Overall it was good, OK. But when I think about the price and lack of attention, ......I have to think about it whether going there back again or not.

At the end of a 3 month business trip with the choice of any restaurant in the area. What to do? Where to eat? WWJD??? Why, Malone's of course! How about that delicious Vanilla Poached Pear Salad? The Center Cut Filet is a great chaser! Eight ounces of protein goodness - yum! OK, I'm ready to brave Southwest Airlines and their little bags of peanuts. . .

Outstanding ribeye and filets...nice ambiance and wait staff. Highly recommend if you are looking for great dining experience. Cocktails and fine wine were on point though a tad on the high side. Creme brulee not typical as it wasnt burnt on top but had a berry sauce which i did not enjoy. I will have to go back to get their bourbon pudding as they were all out so i gather its as good as they say.

This is a great place for that special occasion. I've been several times and have had varying experiences with the wait staff but the food has always been excellent. Love the atmosphere and the architecture of the building. Looking forward to eating out on the patio when it gets warmer! Owner is very personable and is genuinely interested in his guests' feedback. Be prepared to spend a bit of $$$ for the experience.

Great experience. We had a 2:15 Sunday Brunch reservation on Easter. We were traveling from a long weekend in DC back home and got there early. They were very accommodating and made arrangements to seat us immediately. Eggs Benedict, Salmon Crepe, and Omelet were all terrific. Biscuits were very hard with the Biscuits and Gravy. Definitely will visit on our way through again.

The service was wonderful, the house Cab was delicious HOWEVER...the food was way too salty. I had the Salmon and my husban ordered the Ribeye and later on that night we were both complaining about the sodium. I'd like to ge back, but not for dinner. Sorry:-(

Been here twice with the wife. Food was quite good the first time and the owners are super-friendly. Talked with the chef and he seems pretty top-flight and takes a real active interest in things (some of there dishes require a lot of TLC such as marinating things for almost a day and other miticulous preparaton apparently). The woman in the front behind the bar as well was extremely nice and welcoming to my wife and I (and a fellow dog-lover who even offered to hold a Doggy happy hour there). They've got some great things going on here and some pretty great plans (Took a tour with the owner who seems to have his act together and the upstairs is going to be some kind of lounge bar which old town desparately needs and could be a future hotspot). Think this restaurant will be around a while and break the church restaurant curse.. I'll be rooting for them.

This is a difficult review because it comes down to personal preference. We support local businesses in Manassas and appreciate new dinning opportunities. This place is a disappointment. We went there for out wedding anniversary on Saturday 8 November. I ordered the Rabbit Dinner thinking I was actually getting a rabbit. The plate consisted of a very small piece of dry rabbit meat, some rabbit sausage and what I figured was instant potatoes, with a sauce. It was a complete (and expensive) dud. I left most of it on the plate. We ate there about a year ago and were not impressed, but decided to try again. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this restaurant.

Great fine Dinning! Food was great! The Mac and bacon is a must try. Kind of a hidden gem, drinks were good reasonable prices large selection of wine. I'll be back once the upstairs is opened.

Confusion on where we are to be seated,we went downstairs and then we were told we were upstairs, so we had to squeeze past people coming in the doorway? It would be nice when you call for reservation if they would tell you on the phone where to go when you arrive. Once upstairs they seem surprised we were there, so there is a disconnect somewhere, look there is a table how about this one? That really isn't a reservation. Minus 1 So we sit and the first thing I notice is the table is wobbly, ugh no. We got soup that was ok and they brought us bread two slices , did they run out for a loaf? Just kidding but hot rolls would have been better and more appropriate.Go to Longhorn and you will get a nice warm loaf served. Minus1 Then comes the prime rib which was okay but I have to say I have had better. It was served with a mash potatoe and green beans. I did like the coffee it was light and not too strong. The desert ws very good a brownie with whip cream.

Had a great dinner in old town Manassas. Small restaurant but they are building out the top floor. Had steaks and they were well seasoned and not overdone! The appetizer assortment plate was epic: cheeses, meats including rabbit sausage, great pickled vegetables; easily enough for four! Service was great and the place is charming.

Yum! Yum! Yum! Malones did not disappoint. I had a blueberry martini which was AMAZING. It was made with fresh blueberries and the rim of the glass was dipped in sugar. The soup du jour was a corn chowder soup that was SO good that I wish I would have ordered a bowl instead of just a cup on the chilly night we were there, For my entree I had the filet mignon which was a tender and wonderful steak. It was served with mashed potatoes and veggies. Service was amazing for our party of 10!!! The waiter was really above and beyond. My only complaint is acoustics. It is a little loud so it is hard to have a conversation...plus being a party of 10 with one long rectangle table it was hard to talk to the guests at the other end of the table. Would have loved a large round or a small private room. I would certainly return here again!!!

We made a reservation and weren't seated until 25 minutes after our reservation time. This got the night off to a sour start. It was super loud and my daughter and I couldn't carry on a conversation without yelling. I was very close to walking down the street to Carmellos, who had some open tables online. But, I have been reading the reviews and really was interested in trying the place out. So I patiently waited, even though some people came in after us and were seated right away. They were waiting for the tiny tables that seat 2 to open up for us. The bar made a great Martini and my Cast Iron Duck was cooked perfectly. The portion was pretty small for $25. My daughter ordered a salad and added Salmon, instead they brought her the Salmon dinner, the waiter quickly adjusted for the error and apologized. They were having some sort of casino night in the upstairs area. From the crowd and the wait it would benefit to have restaurant seating upstairs as well. This would open up for more space and maybe muffle some of the noise without the stairwell being closed off. The upstairs is beautiful, I visited when the restaurant that was previously in the space. This place has great potential, but needs some work.

I was really impressed by Malones when I went there a few weeks ago. Went on a Friday night around 6:30 and was seated immediately, not very crowded at all (at least in the downstairs area). Our server was super friendly and not at all what I'm used to at more of the "fancy" types of restaurants and steakhouses. I had the duck, because I wasn't really in the mood for steak. I have to say it was honestly the best duck I've had in my life. It was so juicy and tender, with an amazing chili sauce on top of delicious polenta. It's pretty pricey, but I mean it's a steakhouse so you have to expect that. They had a great beer and wine selection and the ambiance was awesome. It was dark, but not too dark, not too loud but not too quiet. Honestly it was just a great meal and experience, I would absolutely go back.

Spectacular dining experience! Great bar atmosphere for happy hour or late night drink. My wife and I have been guests several times now and there isn't anything I can think of that could be considered a negative. The food has been outstanding, service is prompt and attentive, the host is available and will stop by and chat and make sure everything is to your liking. They are doing it right! Wine and drink selection is one of the better offerings in the Manassas area and would easily compete with the "in town" bistros. Try the rubbed ribeye. it's one of the best I've had and the mac and cheese is almost too good.

The decor and service is 4 star. I have always liked the location but previous restaurants did not execute well. For our first visit we came early on a Saturday evening. Open table showed no reservation available but a phone call revealed many open times. Our servers were very friendly and helpful. The 2010 wine I ordered showed up as a 2012 without the waitress mentioning the change, but was good regardless! They have a decent wine selection but not a lot of depth. We skipped appetizers and went directly to a main course and several sides, which included w stew, an 8oz filet, shrimp and grits and brussel sprouts. The filet was very gristly with black char and the in house sauce was a bit too smokey and BBQ for my taste. It came with a side green of beans that tasted pickled and cooked with pork. They were ok. The w stew was delicious, spicy and rich. The brussel sprouts tasted pickled as well and were served shredded rather than whole. Interesting but not delicious. We didn't care for their shrimp and grits at all, but the shrimp were large and well prepared. The menu is chasing low country gourmet, but having just returned from Charleston, we found much better success there at a quarter of the price. We will try Malone's again when the menu changes, but will avoid their cut of beef and focus on the fresh veggies and seafood options.

Went to Malones for an Anniversary dinner after hearing how great it was from friends...and I honestly don't get the draw. The wife had the worst shrimp and grits either of us have ever had (grits should not be watery and soupy). Mine was some forgettable sausage thing I sent back as the scallops were undercooked. The service was good. The drinks were good. The atmosphere was nice...if VERY loud. If you are going for that....I guess you won't be disappointed. Food seems to be a challenge for these guys. There is MUCH better right around the corner for your money.

I have been to their fabulous brunch several times, and it has always been delicious. The restaurant itself is gorgeous! But wanted to take the time to review it after Malones helped throw a fabulous small birthday party for my husband over the weekend. We weren't even asking for a special menu (and were just making a reservation for a small group) but Malone's went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect - and my husband had a wonderful time. Thanks so much to Bill, Sam, Alex and everyone else who helped! I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a nice dinner or brunch (I've always thought the food was delicious). This is a classy restaurant with great food and a small town feel - and we love it! Thanks so much again Malones!

Excellent service, great atmosphere, and even better food. We had the roasted duck, grits, mashed potatoes, and bread pudding for dessert. The roasted duck was some of the best I've ever had (I'm a waterfowl hunter), and the grits were literally the best I've ever had. My grandmother was my date for dinner, and at 80, even she said the grits were some of the best shes ever had! Absolutely recommend coming here!

My wife and I went here for dinner on Friday. The main floor of restaurant is being renovated so seating was in the tavern/bar area(very loud). Drink/wine/beer selection was good, but my wife's Mojito was sent back twice and it just was way off in flavor and was not rectified . We had a warm spinach salad for an appetizer with the celery root carrot soup, very good. My wife had the mahi mahi and it was tough. I had the crab cakes and they were fried croquette style and the thick Panko breading overwhelmed the texture and delicate flavor of the crab. Arties/sweet waters and even Wegmans makes a much better crab cake. Coffee after the meal was very good. We opted for dessert elsewhere due to the noise level. The waitstaff was excellent. Locally for the price versus quality, I would suggest Paninos or Carmelo's over Malones. We will not be returning anytime soon.

Caught the brunch at Malones on Sunday, and it was pretty good. The buttermilk pancakes with pears were decadent, and the chorizo hash was a spicy treat worth going back for. The breakfast fare on the menu is limited, but everything I saw looks worth a try. The atmosphere is certainly upscale and the service and food reflect that, but the prices are pretty reasonable. They have some great competition in the area, so I wouldn't say they're my go to for Sunday brunch, but certainly worth a regular visit for brunch. I will have to get over there for dinner at some point as well.

solid 4.5! Located in Old Town Manassas in a church, this is a unique and dynamic restaurant with a very hands-on staff! The feeling was very comfortable and welcoming, while still remaining a fine dining experience. Tried the garlic knobs, which were nothing short of amazing! Lamb was fantastic and the lemon risotto flavorful. Bread pudding was sublime! Portion sizes are large and the food was cooked perfectly. The owner and manager were both very open to feedback and incredibly friendly, making me feel immediately as if I'd be more than welcomed back. Next time, I'm trying the wine :) ANd yes, there will be a next time!

This place was selected as our Date Night destination as a last second replacement to our first choice. This place should have been my first choice. The restaurant itself is a very interesting building, looks to be in an old church right in Manassas center. The atmosphere is very comfortable. We were dressed up a bit, but I felt a bit overdressed. I imagine they would't kick you out for a t-shirt. The waitress we had was one of the best, most attentive professional young women we've had the pleasure of being waited on in sometime. The food was well prepared and presented very well. The bartender tried very hard to make me a manhattan, which was passable, but my wife loved her Old Fashioned. The desserts were rich and well priced. I would definitely go here again and recommend it to anyone who wanted a pleasant evening out. The detractors: it was a tad loud and my wife and I elected to sit on the same side of the table to hear one another easily. The bartender could use a bit of practice :D but that's not a huge deal. And like a lot of places in Manassas, parking is an adventure.

First time at Molones. Very nice setting. Great food and service. Had the Tomato Fennel soup, Red Snapper special and Bread-pudding for desert. Loved it! Definitely will come back. So nice to have an upscale restaurant with great prices also in the heart of Old Town Manassas.

Excellent all around. So happy to have another amazing restaurant in Old Town Manassas that can compete with Carmello's. Came with here with my parents when they were visiting and we went all out. I had the clam and mussels and crab pasta dish that was absolutely amazing. I cannot resist pasta and seafood and they nailed it so hard. My father got a New Mexico style steak that I was skeptical of because I like my steaks plain but the chiles they used on top actually complimented the steak and still allowed the steak to be the hero! My wife had lamb chops. Indescribably good, but I'll try anyway. Tender, juicy, just the right amount of seasoning, savory. Service was very good as well. Food came promptly and correctly. Staff was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I made reservations for the night but unfortunately our table wasn't ready when we got there. They still had to set the silverware and glasses.

When we have visitors in town, this is the place we always take them to. Everything that we have ever sampled on the menu has been delicious. The servers are charming, and the bartenders know how to make a mean mojito. The setting in an old church is wonderful and a really lovely change from a strip mall. Can't recommend Malones highly enough.

After reading several good reviews, we decided to check out Malone's for my birthday dinner. We were not disappointed. Our waitress and the bus boys were super friendly and attentive, some of the best service we've had. For starters we had the goat cheese and mushroom bruschetta, which had a generous portion size and tasty sauce. My husband had a cup of the potato soup whose flavor was elevated by the addition of sour cream, cheese, bacon & chives. I had the pork chop for an entrée. The spiced carrot puree with it was outstanding, and the brussel sprouts were the best I've had. The pork was very flavorful but a little too salty for me. My husband had the ribeye. It was slighly over charred, but served with a tasty home made steak sauce. The croissant bread pudding was excellent. The only thing standing between it and perfection would be the addition of a whiskey sauce. We will definitely be back.

My family and I went to dinner at Malones last night and had a wonderful time. Kevin and his staff did a wonderful job in making us feel right at home. At least 4 of us tried different entree's and they were all wonderful. The restaurant has a nice classy atmosphere, mixed with a warm and friendly environment. Kevin has done a fantastic job with the decor and I look forward to when the top portion of the restaurant/bar opens. This is a wonderful addition to the restaurant choices in Manassas and I wish Kevin much success. Jill K.

Absolute GEM! This restaurant is in a quaint area of town, and the building is in an old converted church. We opted to sit outside on their spacious, well-lit patio where a man was singing and playing acoustic music beautifully. The drinks were delicious and made with quality liquor and the menu was unique and homey at the same time. I enjoyed an oxtail fettucine dish with homemade pasta, and tender stewed meat. For dessert, I had a slice of delicious lemon cheesecake, which was so rich I was glad I ended up splitting it with friends. Our waitress was wonderfully friendly and attentive, even taking time to take several photos of the group for us.

My husband and I opted not to go into the city to celebrate our anniversary and instead headed west, using Yelp reviewers as our guide. We're so thankful we did because we ended up at Malones on a perfect evening to sit outside. We immensely enjoyed everything. Cocktails, carpaccio, blackberry salad, filet, pork chop, lava cake, fried ice cream... Oh and the truffle Mac n cheese, oh my! Best meal in a long time. Our server Molly was great and we enjoyed chatting with the chef as well. Can't wait to go back!

Looking at the reviews I was hoping for a nice evening with upscale food. Don't dress up, not necessary. The bread was dry and the evoo dipping sauce was bland. I added salt and pepper. The meatballs and gnocchi appetizer was delicious. The ribeye was delicious and cooked perfectly. The salmon scampi was ok. The blonde brownie dessert was dry and the ice cream served on it was icy. So the reason for the 3 and not a 2 is the ribeye. Also disappointed that a place that claims seafood has only one seafood entree.

We came to Malones recently for dinner and were unimpressed. We were very much looking forward to trying out the food here but we left very disappointed. The evening started out on a high note with the Shrimp and Grits appetizer. I usually do not like grits but this one was very creamy and tasty. The sauce was delicious too. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there. Our bread basket did not arrive until we had already began eating our entrees. The 12oz Hand Trimmed Ribeye was only mediocre and while I finished my order of the Seven Spiced Salmon Steak, it was quite bland and did not taste like it was seasoned with any spices at all. Also, I could have done without the celery puree. I am not sure we will be returning again to Malones because of the lackluster food. Also, the music they played downstairs in the dining area did not really go with the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. I do have to give a shout out to our nice waiter though, who was very kind and attentive.

New Chef, new menu, new bartender and the upstairs is really coming along and developing a personality. What's not to like. The food was exceptional and obviously a great deal of pride was taking for its preparation. The previous menu was good but a change was due. The new Chef seems comfortable in trying new things and the presentation was beautiful. The meatballs and gnocchi was amazing as was the Carpaccio. Great overall experience as usual.

You can't beat free music! Malones has it so come on out! Very loud for Dead Cat Bounce. I will admit I feel like one of the younger ones here. Lots of silvers and greys but maybe they don't care about covering up those. I don't want it to deter you from coming out to hear the music though. It's free! I saw Dead Cat in Alexandria with a $10 dollar cover in a smoky cigar bar that was swank but way overcrowded and no sitting room. Malones has a wine and cocktail list that is sufficient. I used to order the blueberry martinis but those have changed so I still to my red wine. Service is quick and seats are plenty. Bar is huge wrap around. DCB had crowd excited with Joe Cocker and more. Malones serves bar fare which I skip because I am not a red meat eater but if you might find some thing on there. Bring some business to Manassas! Off seat irking is ample. There is a lot behind the building too. Cheers!

The music was good and seeing what they have done with the old church is awesome, that's why I give it 2 stars. Went in a few times and could not get the bartender to wait on us or ask us if we needed anything or even looked at us, she seamed disinterested, unconcerned and rude. I'm kind of surprised with all the good reviews. I went to a friends birthday party and again, service was was not very good, the food that was served was just OK considering the price I expected much more.

A special occasion. It's not everyday your son get's accepted to American University graduate program. We had an early Thursday dinner and a really good experience. We decided to dine inside though the patio was quite welcoming. There were quite a number of interesting entrees and there were even some interesting pasta specials. We started with the assorted cheese for an appy, it was good but somewhat inadequate for two people. For $17 bucks this seems pricey for what you get. Three tiny slices of various cheeses. There are a few thin slices of bread and some pickled veggies but this is not a good value. I had the shrimp and grits, mi hijo had the ribeye. We were both quite pleased with our choices. We each had a craft beer. I opted for the Wild Wolf honey ale, me hijo had the Old Bust Head English Pale Ale...both quite good. They offer a nice variety of local craft beers as well as bottled imports. The wine list is extensive, i wanted to ask about the Booty Call Merlot but I didn't. We had a great server in Jennifer, she remined me of Taylor Swift but with dark hair, she was quite charming and made us feel quite comfortable. Service was slow considering we were the only ones there at 530p on Thursday. I have no trouble recommending this place. The menu is extensive, an exceptional wine list and a positive all round experience. The food is on the pricey side for what you get. Cheese appetizer tray, $17 bucks The Rib eye was $35 bucks. The Shrimp and grits was $26 bucks.

Reservations gets you a "bar table?" Took almost 10 minutes to get waters, despite an empty restaurant. And don't ask to move to another table (even before ordering). You would have thought we asked them to solve the Poincare Conjecture. I will say the food was good and nicely presented. Chevy is also great. I think you have to be an old friend to garner any attention from the owner though. If he doesn't know you, you almost don't even feel welcomed.

We actually drove all the way from New Jersey to have dinner at Malones of Manassas. The unique atmosphere and incredible dinner we had made the trip well worth it. From the minute you enter the unique atmosphere of Malones, you know you are in a very special place. Throughout the evening, the staff was friendly, attentive, and well trained to provide excellent service. The entree items are beautifully presented and, most importantly, cooked to perfection. We enjoyed every mouthful. Great selection of wines, too. Malones has a lot to offer from the fine dining experience in the lower level to an outdoor patio area for dining. The upstairs bar was busy and had a great band. We cannot wait to visit again and highly recommend this special restaurant to everyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

Took my husband here for his bday on a Saturday night. Neither one of us had been at Malones before and the reviews pinged-ponged from awesome to terrible -so I was crossing my fingers! I am very pleased to report - we had an amazing time and will definitely be coming back. Our waiter Javier was attentive to our table and we also had a great time sharing stories. The food was top-notch! My husband had the steak - seared perfectly. Honestly, one of the best steaks we ever had (Yes, I had to taste it!). I ordered the cornish hen over wild rice --deelish. Not bland at all. And they did it right for the bday. We ordered the citrus cheesecake - beautifully on display on a board with a candle and Happy Birthday written in chocolate. Great presentation and the cheesecake was very good. We raved so much about the food that we got an unexpected opportunity to meet the chef! The chef came out to our table and shared his background with us and plans for the fall menu. This is a great gem!! After dinner we went upstairs where they have live music - another most awesome find! The band playing that night was a freaking amazing blues/classic rock band. The whole room is the bar! haha The crowd is great -very relaxed, be yourself and have a good time! We had such a terrific evening. Thank you, Malones and we will be back!

I want to celebrate Malones for not only their consistently great menu and service but for how the management welcomed a Service Dog in Training last week. Semper K9 is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that rescues suitable shelter dogs, trains them and then places them with individuals in need. I take pride in the fact that Malones welcomed Norman (the dog in training) and his handler with such grace. I know it's the law, but it feels great to patronize an establishment that gets it.

Why did it take us so long to eat here? Malone's has been open for a couple of years and my wife and I finally had a chance to eat here. What a delight to have such a wonderful, upscale dining experience in Manassas. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. The ambiance of the dining area is perfect for a nice night out. The menu has a wonderful variety. We started our meal with the spicy mussels and a couple of cocktails. That jalapeño broth for the mussels was crazy good...I could drank it out of the bowl (if there weren't anyone watching!). My wife had their White Linen cocktail - a cucumber and lime, gin beverage that was quite refreshing. I had an Olde Fashioned that packed a good punch. For dinner, I had the rabbit boucherie - meat done three ways (rillette, sausage and bacon-wrapped loin) on a of mushrooms, spinach and spaetzle. Each preparation had a unique taste and was very well done. My wife had their ribeye. Straight forward preparation, with maître'd butter and steak sauce, along with veg and very creamy mashed potatoes. Cooked her beef perfectly. Exactly what you want in a steak. We shared a side of truffle mac and cheese. Don't care what foodies say...truffle oil works for me. Throw in a hearty helping of diced Virginia ham? A knock out dish. We also split a flourless chocolate cake, topped with chocolate sauce and a scoop of mint gelato. A wonderful flavor combo. I'm so glad to have finally made it out to Malone's and am very happy to keep this in the date night rotation.

This place is great. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time and were greatly pleased. I personally picked this place because I LOVE steak and it is am American restaurant, with that being said I was not let down by the steak. We got there at 7:55 for an 8 pm reservation and were promptly seated. The host was very friendly and the waiter was at our table as soon as we sat down. For an appetizer him and I each orderd a kale ceaser salad and a plate of Pork Turn Overs. The kale salad was delicious, it was fresh and as was the Cesar dressing. The Pork Turn Overs came out a little after we had finished our salads and were delicious. They were perfectly sweet and moist. Now, to the steak. I had orderd the 12 Oz trimmed Ribeye and it was to die for. I was not disappointed in the slightest bit. I always order my steaks rare and it was perfectly cooked and not undercooked at all. I swear I ate that steak in less than five minutes. It was absolutely delicious. Overall, this restaurant definitely deserves five stars. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. I will definitely be returning!

Perfect birthday dinner! Malones accommodated my large party of 11 with fantastic service and even better food! We had perfectly cooked steaks and the restaurant went above and beyond by reading my reservation email carefully and noting that our dinner was in celebration of 3 birthdays. Without prompting they brought out dessert on 3 platters with Happy Birthday stenciled in chocolate on them!

Writing this review after our first experience at Malone's - 2 stars for long wait time and disappointing food quality. Decor/ambiance is nice, staff friendly. I like that there is an up-scale restaurant option in Old Town Manassas, and I like to support local business, but unfortunately am not likely to return. We made a reservation for 9PM on Saturday evening, using OpenTable. We arrived 5 minutes before, and were asked to wait at the bar. The bartenders were extremely nice, however we were not seated until 9:40. I was very disappointed by this. I understand things can happen, but 45 minutes is an outrageous amount of time to wait when you have a reservation and arrive on-time. Our server was very nice and friendly, but could barely speak English. He recited the specials and took our order reasonably well, but he couldn't give us recommendations about the menu or the wine list, which was disappointing. We ordered a bottle of wine, but were initially brought the wrong bottle due to the language barrier. Our table ordered the jerk chicken, the low country shrimp and grits, the salmon steak, and the cast iron duck. We also shared the truffle mac and cheese and the collard greens for the table: I had the shrimp and grits, which was a decent portion (though, not worth $26), and came with brussels sprouts. Hands down, the worst brussels sprouts I have ever had, and I am a huge fan typically. They were boiled and soggy, and didn't even look green anymore. I couldn't believe it. The grits were cooked well, but the gumbo sauce over the shrimp was too much, too salty, and way too overpowering. The jerk chicken was seasoned well, and a decent portion size. The salmon was a very small portion. The duck was a decent portion size, but was swimming in plum sauce and looked overcooked. For desert, we had creme brulee, which was actually quite delicious, but again, expensive at $8. I don't usually complain about high prices in restaurants, I certainly don't mind spending when the quality is there, but I just didn't feel like they are worth what they are charging at Malone's. I think you'd be better off to just venture in to DC if you're looking for good quality at a higher, more up-scale price point.

The rabbit served three ways was an incredible addition to the menu. Rabbit loin wrapped in bacon, banger, and rabbit liver pate served atop collard greens and mushrooms sauteed with delicate rabbit sausage. The buffalo carpacio appetizer was also flavorful and very tasty!

I have fond memories of a fancy Sunday brunch in Hotel Del Coronado. When I saw that Malone's offers Sunday brunch, I had high hopes. Malone's does not disappoint. I felt as if I was back in DC. Easily the best location in Manassas for a beautiful, refined interior that is warm and accommodating without taking the usual suburban shortcut to cold, fake formal. Impeccable service. A dedication to detail that I have missed since moving out of the city, such as food served on warmed plates, heated maple syrup and meticulously crafted cocktails. A highlight is the in-house cut and aged slab bacon. This is not thin crispy bacon but a thick rasher, with deep smoky flavor. The first location I have found in a long time that serves an English breakfast. For brunch at least, the dining room was quiet and relaxed, perfect for a long meal and conversation. All of this comes at a hefty price, but that is the point of a nice Sunday brunch. I'll have to come back a few times and see if it holds up as well for dinner, before assigning 5 starts.

Went for brunch on Sunday 26. Had made reservations for 6 but ended up with 7 but that didn't seem to be a problem. The waitress was quick to come service us even through our whole group had not arrived. That was good and we were able to order drinks instead of waiting for the whole group. We also ordered a few appetizer's while we waited. They were not on the brunch menu but were on there regular menu and were happy to comply. The drinks from the bar were good. Our whole party has now arrived and we ordered a few more drinks. We were seated close to the bar and in front of the restrooms. So every time someone used the restroom we got a wiff of sewerage or the smell of a strong deodorizer. In checking the menu for brunch most of the items are made with eggs. If you have allergies to eggs you are very limited on the menu. The waitress was very good she tried to help us decide what to order. At a lot of restaurants we visit as a family we order a lot of different items and then share them between us. In most cases we then reorder the favorite items. Food served was good. But here is the problem as we were enjoying the meal we were approached my a person who didn't introduced himself and started talking about what was a local restaurant called Chesapeake seafood house. They have long since closed and we had the impression that we needed to hurry up and finish eating and get out. I also noticed that he adjusted the thermostat and it got much cooler. Might try it for dinner but I would hate to think we must hurry and finish so others could eat. Manassas needs more good restaurants but not at the sake of speed eating.

Wow! Beautiful and a wonderful spot. I found it by accident and thought a bar in a church sounds like fun. I only had a glass of wine since we ate prior. I am definitely going to come back for dinner. Very posh and all the food looked good. Smelled great as well. The staff were by far the best I have seen in years. Check it out.

The evening started out with a small glitch as they forgot to assign us a server (a big table and group up stairs had just arrived), but the wait was worth it. Chevy who was not assigned us noticed us and asked if we had been helped. She then signed herself up to be our server. She was polite, energetic, and seemed to truly care about our guest experience. The hits of the evening and we highly recommend are the shrimp and grits and the tomato fennel soup. We both could see ourselves just stopping in this these two starters. My steak was over cooked but they gladly took it back to get it right (they were training someone new in the kitchen). On the other hand, the seasoning and taste of everything was perfect they have master creating the flavor and combinations of foods. At the end of the evening they paid for our desert to balance our trouble. I would definately go again! -Mike

Outstanding evening! Wonderful atmosphere/ambience. The service was great and the steak(filet) was done to perfection. THE BEST dining experience that my fiancé and I have had in months!

The service was wonderful, the house Cab was delicious HOWEVER...the food was way too salty. I had the Salmon and my husban ordered the Ribeye and later on that night we were both complaining about the sodium. I'd like to ge back, but not for dinner. Sorry:-(

If you haven't been here in the last month, you need to come back. There is a new chef now and let me just tell you....he is magical. It was good before but now it's extraordinary.

Yum! Yum!

Cheers!

I my husband and I, were at Malones of Manassas back in August 2015, on a Friday. We ordered Pan-Roasted Cornish Hen, marinated in garlic, shallots, lemon zest, thyme; with wild rice, celery root puree, celery root hay, Madeira jus, turned mushroom. We waited over an hour, the Cornish Hen, arrive overcooked/cold and the only thing on our plate, no wild rice, no bread nothing! The service was pretty darn BAD! The cook came out to take a break smoke.

-Mike

Jill K.
