When faced we were faced with the situation of a 'groupon purchased restaurant (Japanese Kitchen) closing down TODAY', we had no other choice but to find another lunch place! Enter Pho Royal...and YES, we are glad we found you! They are located in the giant strip plaza off Fort Evans and Battlefield Pkwy. They are right next to the DQ! Table was already set with menus, and service was so prompt! We had apps and waters on our table before we could even turn around. We ordered garden rolls and spring rolls for appetizers. All came with some yummy peanut sauce and fish sauce. There were spoons, chili sauce, and soy already in the utensil tray on the tables. That is my kind of service! Food arrived just after we gobbled up those appetizers! Some of us had the grilled meats on rice or vermicelli while a couple of us had the "pho" on this hot and scorchy day. There was plenty of meat in the pho, a good amount of noodles, and the soup was tasty( I tried it, although I am not a pho eater). The grilled pork on vermicelli was amazing, so tasty, and the giant serving of rice filled me up! I'd definitely recommend this place if you are in the area!

I always enjoy going to pho royal. It's definitely the best place to get good pho in the area. It's cheap and filling!

Great food! Yummy on a fall crisp day or in the summer if your watching what you eat. I love the coconut water too :) thumbs up!!

This place is right down the street from the Leesburg outlets. So after a few hours of shopping on a chilly Fall day, we headed over to Pho Royal for some lunch. The service was a little slow. We stood there for a moment before anyone noticed us, and then once we ordered it seemed to take a long time for the food to come. But once the food came it was very good. The fresh spring rolls were tasty, and they give a generous amount of sauce with them. The pho tai had great flavor and the beef was tender. It's a good option if you're at the outlets and want something other than fast food.

Went to lunch with 2 other people. Our experience was this: Service was slow. They brought the wrong appetizer. Waiter never took a drink order so we all had the water that was served when we sat down. The waiter sat at a table watching something like Dateline murder mysteries on his iPad. So we were subjected to the auditory fusion of "a 24 hour murder spree!" and the bad 90s love ballads that were blaring over the speakers. Meanwhile, there was a crime show on the flat screen with no sound. Weird atmosphere. We were finished eating for 15 minutes. No one came to take the dishes, ask if we wanted to-go boxes, or if we wanted the check. I had to interrupt the waiter from his iPad program and ask for the check. He had taken the appetizer off the bill. I told him I was thinking I would go ahead and pay for the appetizer since one person at the table did eat part of it, but since our service was bad I decided that he could go ahead and take the appetizer off the bill. He immediately got argumentative with me. I told him about how bad the service was specifically. His response was that all we had to do was ask. I guess it was my responsibility to turn around and interrupt his tv viewing in order to get him to do his job. He told me that he is our "server" not our "servant". (How clever. I bet he's used that line before on other disgruntled customers.) I don't think expecting the server to take your drink order, check in on the table once during the meal, clear away dirty dishes and then bring the check in a timely manner is asking too much. I asked for the manager, but no one came to the table. I asked a passing bus boy to see the manager, and he said our server WAS the manger, which explains a lot. This guy never offered an apology. He just got more and more angry at me, and insisted on getting the last word, even saying something nasty to me as I exited the door. I've never in my life left a ZERO tip, but I did today. I waited on tables for many years, so I know how to treat customers. I also appreciate servers. This experience was the worst of my life, not in terms of bad service, but in terms of how poorly he reacted to me letting him know that I was dissatisfied with the service! He had no clue how to talk to customers. This wasn't just bad service; this was rude, argumentative treatment by a manager to a customer. Don't go. There are other amazing Pho places in Leesburg. I recommend Xuân Saigon on Fort Evans Rd. Been there many times and it's excellent, cute place, friendly staff, and great food.

Beware of 'Angry' Asian Owner (young, slim)... I took my wife there for dinner and when our food finally came out, I complained about the dirty bowl my food came in. The owner (young, slim) actually came over and I showed him the dry brown spots. When I asked to have it taken off the bill, he walked away and *slammed* something so hard that everyone in the restaurant looked up. No customer service skills whatsoever at Pho Royal!

The FOOD is really good!! But, I know this is subjective, I don't feel welcome there. It's body language, tone, IDK. I keep coming back because the PHO is REALLY good. I came there yesterday and I felt really welcome. The portions that I got was more than I've gotten before and the service was better. i asked if they were under new management and I was told that the manager/owner doesn't work that night. Maybe my personality doesn't mix with the manager. But there you have it. Great Pho, so-so service.

If your in the mood for Pho and your in the Leesburg area then this is the place to go. They are generous with the noodles and meat even for a small bowl. They also produce a good chicken and rice dish.

Pho royal deserves 3.5 but I was conflicted. I felt bad giving them a 3 because the food was so good. I order pho and it was really good. Most pho places I've been to in the are do not have much flavor outside the plum sauce and sriracha that I add. Pho royal was different. The broth was full of flavor. The reason I felt they deserved less the 4 stars was the service was just ok. Not bad but definitely not good. And they do not take American Express which is annoying. Other then that I have no complaints and I will definitely be going back for more pho.

I must admit the food here is excellent but I used to go here all the time with an old roommate. Some things that have set me off since then is, I came to eat there one day and had left my keys. (my friend drove) when I came back the next day I grabbed them and thought nothing of it. The next time I came in to eat one of the waiters who always served us pulled out of his pocket my custom made bottle opener I got in Germany. Now you might think, why's she care about a bottle opener? One it's mine, two it was stolen. I had asked the man for it back but he refused, shoving it in my face. He didn't give it back till I yelled at him. After that I basically had no faith in this restaurant. How are you going to screw with your best costumers?

This seems to be a pretty solid joint located in the Leesburg area and maybe my to-go Pho place in the area. We tried the Royal appetizer sampler which features a spring roll, a shredded pork summer roll, a pork & shrimp summer roll, and a fried tofu. Each one was done very well. The summer rolls had mint in it, so it added a quite unexpected, yet refreshing bite. The fried tofu was probably the standout, with a ground pork and shrimp patty wrapped around bean curd. The fried bean curd wrapping was quite flaky, similar to a crisp phyllo dough. SX had the house special pho and they were able to accommodate his no cilantro, no onion issue. I had the bun noodle bowl with a spring roll and grilled chicken. Refreshing as always, though I think I would opt for beef or pork next time. There wasn't anything wrong with the chicken, but just personal preference. Flavors for everything seemed to be spot on, but more visits would warrant on the consistency of the place. The utensils are on the table, along with condiments, and for the most part, everything is pretty clean here. Got no cash? No worries, they do accept credit cards here.

Cinnamon!!! THAT'S what that was! After scanning the reviews, I noticed someone said they use more cinnamon than other places. When I ate here for lunch last week, I noticed that the flavor of the broth was probably the best I'd ever had and it was noticeably sweeter than others. So I assume it's due to the cinnamon. Anyway, I've eaten at a ton of pho places, mostly in MD and DC--and this place is definitely one of the best. Sadly, the farthest away from me!

First time trying pho. Not sure what to expect. Reaction...eh, its ok. I got the B5. Aside from the slightly steamy noodles, the rest of the dish was room temperature or cold. The menu talked about savoring the aroma; I think a hotter dish would help with that. The vegetables were fresh. The bean sprouts were very crisp, making them the star of the dish, which is saying something for a meat/noodle dish. The meat quality was ok; consistent with typical all you can eat Chinese buffets. Some of the noodles were under cooked. Ok pricing. I would have given them 2 stars put the service was very quick, although it was a Monday....

A larger Vietnamese party came in two groups after us and was promptly provided menus and drinks. We had to get our own menus and were completely ignored so we walked out. We've been here a few times before but my wife even said this time she felt a little discriminated against.

The pho has great broth. I find that going in the afternoon when it has just been made is the best time. The appetizers are very good also.

This Pho Royal has a nicer dining area than the original in Sterling. It is more spacious and is nicely decorated. The pho is very good. Unfortunately, the grilled shrimp vermicelli wasn't that good this time (it has been in the past at the Sterling location). The grilled shrimp didn't seem to be freshly prepared and were very tough. Skip this dish. Can't go wrong with pho tai.

I used to live right across the street from here, near the mall, so I'd go in and get the #13 all the time. It's a lot of food for not a lot of money. The service is pretty weak here, though. There seems to be one punk kid who does most of the serving. He doesn't seem to give a rats ass about very much and he's pretty unpleasant. Never really checking in or anything, so I would always just get take out so I didn't have to deal with him. Recently, I tried this place again and the food seems to have gone downhill. Sort of bland and the meat was kind of overcooked. It's a shame because I used to enjoy the food here, but not the service. Now, neither one is really worth the trip. The non-pho dishes are okay, but not really my thing. If you're going to get anything, get the bbq chicken. Really, you're better off going to Saigon Cafe in Sterling if you want Vietnamese food. Avoid!

Last time visiting.. Used to be regulars. Service is so poor. They refilled my water and spilled all over the table... Didn't clean it or say sorry. I had to ask for numerous things 2 and 3 times. My husband paid and said thank you and the gentleman just walked away. I think they need to be reminded there are many Pho places within a 10 mile radius. I won't be giving my business or recommendations to this place anymore.

I'm a recurring customer here and I usually have fresh garden rolls as the appetizer and Pho Dac Biêt. The peanut sauce that accompanies the garden rolls is tasty, the garden rolls are fresh, and the pho is as authentic as can be! The food is prepared in a timely fashion and although the waiter has been willing to answer questions concerning the food, the customer service overall is questionable and it's recommended that you ensure the dishes/utensils are clean before use.

  • Christine R.

3.5 I really wanted to love this place but the unkept dirty table tops and floors kinda took away from the focus of my entire meal. Ick. Oddly enough the bathrooms were well kept.... I loved the pho here. They use a lot more cinnamon than you typically see around here and I love that. The spring rolls were good and so was my grilled pork with eggroll bun. The iced coffee is stronger than any I've had and it was delicious. Service was a bit slow especially for a not so busy Saturday afternoon. I was also surprised to see many Viets and asians in there. Always a good sign! But please keep the tables and floor clean! It was just gross to look at while eating.

Great for lunch on cold days like these past few days. Clean dining area and quick service. We have been here many times in the past few months and we all will come back for more for that nice hot soup.

This is a good lunch place option before or after shopping at Leesburg Premium Outlet. Their Garden Rolls were fresh and tasty with the Nuoc Cham, and the Crispy Spring Rolls were crispy and delicious with the peanut Hoisin sauce. The Pho (#11) was good but not as good as Pho 75, I thought. At the first sip of the soup, it tasted like something missing, but after I added some Hoisin sauce and sriracha, it tasted much more enjoyable. They put a slice of lime in the water, which was nice. Overall I was satisfied, and I will go back there again.

We stopped in here while traveling through the area back home. We have high expectations for Pho, as the place near our home is amazing. The good: The food. Everything was flavorful. The ok: The menu selection. It was not very vegetarian friendly. We made due. The bad: The staff. Our waiter chewed gum and was not attentive. We sat there for 10+ minutes with no food in front of us waiting to pay. The entire staff did not seem to care we were there.

Came here yesterday for lunch with a friend. I've been to the Pho Royal in Sterling in the past and have been pleased with the pho I've gotten there, so I was expecting the same if not better. The place was packed (mostly full of non Vietnamese) so I was a little uncomfortable considering the fact that Pho Royal must have changed the tastes to suit Westerners. Although I've never had pho as good as my mother's, I was still just as pleased. I order the house special, which comes with everything (steak, brisket, tripe, tendon, fatty brisket, meatballs) and my friend ordered hers with steak, brisket, and tripe. One of the best pho served in a restaurant setting I've had. The broth was hot, full of flavor (especially from all the cuts I had) and hit the spot. My friend liked hers a lot as well. Highly recommended

I was excited to introduce someone new to Pho when I stopped here. I've never been to Pho Royal before but many other Pho places indeed. So, armed with my Specialicious $10 for $20 coupon in hand, we went to this place, while I raved about how good it is, how quick the food comes, etc. The yelp sticker in the window also seemed very promising. The food was in fact very good and up to par with all other Pho I've had--soup as well as the summer rolls and a taste of the other dish. I was a little sad they didn't have Thai Iced tea like other pho places, but then again I won't fault for that since its not vietnamese cuisine. The location was a little out of the way but the real dealbreaker was the way I was treated by the cashier at the end! He tried every trick in the book to invalidate my coupon. And why? Just to give me a hard time it seems. He mumbled that I couldn't use the coupon because I didn't mention it to the server, I told him I did, then he stood there and read line by line actually looking for something else, ANYThing else just to invalidate it! He told me I didnt spend enough to use the coupon so I asked for summer rolls to go. Then he said it was for dine in only. I told him I could eat them there but that I was too full. He gave in begrudgingly but really, did it make a difference whether I ate them in there or not?! After that experience, I'll eat my Pho elsewhere! Too bad the simple fact I wanted to use a coupon I had pre-paid for made this so challenging :(

Jesse C. and I had an early dinner here today. What's amusing is that we had lunch together earlier in the day at Viet Crystal (for Pho), then we met out at Greenberry's Coffee shop in Leesburg, then when we both left there - we both decided after we left to seek out the new Pho Royal. I started laughing when I saw him pull into the parking lot at the same time. It's a new Pho place - the sister to the Pho Royal located some miles down Route 7 in Sterling, VA. Very nice, new, bright, and colorful interior. Lots of new tile - nice look. I think we were the only customers when we arrived - at 3:45 pm or so. Jesse ordered some rolls for us to split - I ordered my usual Pho Ga - small bowl since I had a large bowl of Pho Ga earlier at lunch. Rolls came out quickly - (see the attached pix), Very crisp and tasty - without being overly greasy. The fish sauce based dip was also very good. Our bowls of Pho came out even as were munching our last bites of the rolls. The plate of aromatics/veggies was crisp and fresh looking. My bowl of Pho Ga was steaming and had a nice light color/tint to the broth. I tasted the broth immediately - good - about what I expected from the other Pho Royal location. The slices of chicken were very thin, succulent, and tender. The noodles were not clumped. I added the jalapenos, Basil, lime juice, and bean sprouts, and dug in - liberally applying Sriracha sauce to individual bites. After a bit, I also added a dose of Sriracha to the broth. Very good - I recommend their Pho Ga! Service was good - as Jesse mentioned our water glasses were promptly refilled. Will come back here again!

This is my go-to lunch place in Leesburg, especially if I have company. The food is always over-the-top delicious and priced really well. The service is okay, but I understand they're going for efficiency rather than friendliness; and when the food is this good I don't care lol

  • Chris D.

Let's start middle of the road. +3 I like it when pho houses give you two cups of peanut sauce with summer rolls. +1 Their flank was delightfully fatty but the broth wasn't as good as Sterling's. Push. The servers were overwhelmed by a restaurant that was 1/3 full. -1 It was clean upon arrival, but they never cleared any tables as patrons left. Push. Specialicious (Groupon clone) coupon got us a $20 credit for $10. +1 I had to argue with the cashier about how to apply our Specialicious coupon. -1 Looks like we're back where we started. Get what you pay for? Dephonitely

Family was at Leesburg outlet and it was cold, perfect day for some Pho. Stopped at Pho Royal. Place was clean and service was good. But when the waiter came out with the Pho I knew the Pho would be average at best. Pho has a very distinct aroma that you can smell a mile away. A good pho's aroma will linger hours on your clothes after you eat it. The waiter dropped the pho off at our table and I couldn't smell anything. It had all the right ingredients but it lacked the true flavor of a good pho. To be honest it tasted like hot chicken broth with noodles. No taste of star anise, cinnamon, cloves or any other pho flavors. I have been eating pho for 40 years all over and homemade pho by my mother and grandmother. Pho Royal is a good substitute for real pho.

  • Mike F.

I have been here twice this month, both on rainy days so the Pho is even better! I always get the #17 which is the EVERYTHING. It is always hot and the meat is ample as are the condiments (basil, bean sprouts, lime, and sliced jalapenos. My only complaint is that the meat could be a little more flavorful. This time we ordered the spring rolls that are not fried and they come with a tasty peanut sauce. The fried egg rolls are also good but come with a vinegar sauce. They are a little pricey as I feel you should get three or four for the price instead of two. Wait staff is attentive and kept the water glasses filled. You have to pay at the counter when you are done. If we are in Leesburg this is where I go for Pho.

    (4)
  • Nancy A.

No complaints about the pho here; they have a great meat to noodles ratio, compared with other places who are really skimpy on the meat. It's always steaming hot and delicious. Only complaint is the service. Like most Vietnamese restaurants I've been to, the staff are pretty slow and inattentive to customers.

    (4)
  • Homa S.

Consistently good tasting pho. It's one of the best in the area. We've come here several times in the past month alone. We always order the flank steak pho and shrimp spring roll. Never been too disappointed, only wish they had crispy spring roll other than pork. Also, it would be nice to offer a side of steamed veggies to put into the pho. Overall, it's the go to place for Pho :)

Couldn't even get through with my order. Incredibly rude staff barking orders at me. I felt a sudden flash of boot camp training in someone's past. I'm a customer not your subordinate!

After a few visits I decided to write a review. Good food but the service is always terrible. They always seem bothered that you're there. Don't ask a question about anything on the menu because then you're really inconveniencing them. It's a bummer too because we are so close and we love the food but we're not going to support people like that.

    (2)
  • Genaro Q.

Have been here a few times Food is pretty good but two stars because of the utterly poor and inconsiderate service. We walked in fifteen minutes before closing and they asked us to take it to go on another occasion took twenty minutes to refill water.

  • Morgan V.

As someone who orders from this restaurant at least once a week with co-workers, it's unfortunate albeit it necessary for me to write this review. The past several times our office has called in an order for take-out, the attitude of the employees has been less than welcoming. It was as if we were an inconvenience instead of loyal customers. There have also been several orders where parts of the meals were missing. Upon calling them to address the issue, they told us that nothing could be done and was merely a mistake that the kitchen made. All of this this was said without apology. As a result of their underwhelming quality control and attitude, our office has decided to take our somewhat large weekly lunch order to another Pho restaurant in town.

4.5 I'm a big fan of Pho Royal in Sterling. When I heard they were opening one up in Leesburg I got excited. I've been wanting to go here since they opened, but I haven't had time. I finally got the chance to try this place out today. And to my surprise who was in the car next to mine when I pulled up? Mr. Neal E. The Emerald Dragon himself. The funny thing is, we just had pho together earlier in the day around 1:00 and it was 4:00 when we both happen to be here at the same time. Well we walked in and it was pretty empty. The place has a nice décor and Asian theme to it. It is very bright in here compared to the original location in Sterling. There is also a nice chandelier on the ceiling. We were seated right away and the server brought us menus and water. We both looked over the menu and ordered away. Not sure why Neil looked because he always gets the same thing =) I ordered the round eye and flank as well as an order of spring rolls. The spring rolls came out a few minutes later. They were hot and had a nice golden color to them. Took a bite and they were might tasty, just like the ones in Sterling. Now the pho came out next. First thing I noticed was the nice color to it, I smelled the broth and it was good. Next I took a couple of sips without putting anything in it. It was good, I think the broth at the Sterling location is better, but I think its just a matter of time before they are the same. Either way it was a good bowl of pho with very flavorful broth. There was a ton of meat inside my bowl. I was so stuffed by the time I finished. The service was good, our water was always filled and never empty. I'm glad this place opened up now I can get a good bowl of pho super close to my house. Comparing the two locations I think they are very very similar. But I will say while the broth here was good, its still slightly better at the Sterling location. O.K. Neal, where are we going for our 3 bowl of pho for the day?

The Grand Opening of the Pho Royal in Leesburg was greatly anticipated by my crew as we typically have to travel to Chantilly or further from the "real burbs" to consume good Pho. Not that I'm an authority - I'll admit this is my second time having this tasty meal - but I know what I like!! Rainy, blustery, somewhat chilled evening last night shopping in the 20176 for - yes, Christmas. Caught up with my son and we decided a big bowl of broth, noodles and protein of choice would be a great idea. BINGO - one glorious scan across the parking lot and there was the OPEN sign...whoo hooo! The restaurant is brightly lit, with standard decor and the staff (small in number but large in service) met each patron with a smile and a welcome. We started with an order of crispy spring rolls for me and the fresh garden rolls for my son....nicely done as the fried rolls were not greasy and the garden rolls were minty and crisp at each bite. The main attraction of the evening was the soup - Pho Ga for me and Pho Tai Nam for my son. The broth in each was nice. Of course we added the basil, lime and sprouts and my son gave a healthy dose of all things hot as well. Being more mild mannered, I added my hot sauces a little at a time - that is till my nose was running outta control by the end!!! I like this place and will return - cold weather or not! (only reason for 3 stars is that I haven't experienced enough Pho restaurants to have a shining 5 yet!)

Best Pho in town. Great friendly fast service! I eat here regularly for lunch and carry out for dinner. I have never had issue putting in large split takeout orders on phone. With having a limited amount of time for lunch they are the perfect place to eat. Always get our food out promptly. I recommend them to everyone.

I'm writing this location off, we will no longer go here. They claimed they open at 10am on Saturday morning and twice we came here at 10:30 and was met with rude staffs saying they are not yet opened. Called the Sterling location and was told they are supposed to open at 10. Will be going to the Sterling one instead.

It's been almost a year and a half since my last review of Pho Royal in Leesburg, In that time I've probably eaten around 8-10 times and I'm convinced they are a solid 4 star restaurant now. The place is as clean as the first time I ate there, the pho is now consistently top notch, and there is now plenty of meat in the broth. Very happy here!

I went here with my mom a couple months ago after a day of shopping. We were really excited to have some Pho, as we both LOVE it. The restaurant is new and clean. We both ordered the Pho Ga (chicken Pho). We thought it was really nice that you had the option to choose if you want light meat, dark meat or a combination of both. My mom settled on the dark meat and I got the combination. This is where I made my mistake. I noticed that the dark meat still had the fatty skin on it and I kept having to pluck out all of these pieces in order to try the soup. It was really off-putting. Then the white meat appeared to be sliced chicken that you would get at the carving station/deli counter. I was expecting nice pieces of meat that were from a whole bird that was cooking in the broth for a long period of time. Sadly, this was not the case and I could not eat much of my Pho. My mom was also not a fan. This is a shame because this restaurant is so close to our new home. We have since gone to Pho Bistro in the Ashburn/Sterling area, which is much better.

We went there the first time and ordered Pho and was not impressed. The seasoning wasn't there and they skimped out on the fresh herbs. We ordered the rainbow dessert and it did not turn out good at all. The second time we went there we ordered the rice dish with grilled pork. This turned out good. A restaurant with Pho in its name should have awesome Pho but this is not the case here. The rice dish turned out to be better. Giving this two stars because although the food is average, the service was horrible. Took forever to refil water and the service was horrible.

Great Pho for the best price. The waiters were kind of lazy... and disinterested in service....but ehhh.. The spring roles were SOO GOOD!!!

Phantastic Pho! Lots of depth and flavor in the soup, served up with generous helpings of meat & garnishes. The summer rolls are fresh & good, too. One tip: this restaurant is located almost a half mile away from the point indicated on the Yelp map. Travel east on Ft Evans Rd from Rt 15 for a few lights, and you'll find Pho Royal in the shopping center near Walgreens.

I actually found Pho Royal to be fairly decent. As long as you manage your expectations, it was a good lunch for the price. We got some egg rolls and the sampler app to start. Everything was fairly good. I got the B5 which is the rice vermicelli combo and I thought everything was cooked well and rather tasty. Most of the party got pho and one person got a rice dish, everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was decent and overall I thought it was a cheap, good meal. No complaints here!

After a long day shopping at Leesburg Premium Outlets (about a 5 minute drive away), I found myself craving pho, and thank goodness yelp led me to this wonderful restaurant--Pho Royal. It was about 9pm on a Saturday night, and we were probably one of the handful of late diners. We were seated immediately, and the server brought us waters with limes. My initial reaction entering was -- what a nice, clean, pho place. I liked how they had a variety of sauces on the table, and I loved how they even have a separate mini sauce plate stacked on the tables to put your sriracha and hoisin sauce! No longer am I usually a spoon as my sauce plate! It's the little things that make this place so great. I also like how each chopstick set had an individual sleeve. It made it feel very upscale for a pho place. Next, the basil were very fresh and clean! I've had my fair share of pho experiences at other places where the basil was dirty, had bugs, were withering, blackening, etc. But none of that here! The bean sprouts were also wonderful. And of course it comes with the default lime and jalapenos. It was the little things that made it such a good experience. We picked up a menu, and it had a very lengthy description of how to eat pho, which is good for pho newbies. I never seen such a lengthy explanation of pho on the menu, and I never experienced so my pho education. Even though I am a pho-aholic, I found myself reading it, and learned something new. Apparently you should shred the basil into bits before putting it in your broth for more flavor. I use to just take the entire leaf and throw it in. :) Finally, the food-- I had the garden roll and small pho #13, which I believe just had everything. I usually don't like steak in my pho, because at most pho places, it's gets too overcooked and hard and tough to chew. However, at Pho Royal, the steak was just perfect. It was a little raw when it came out, so I was able to cook it to my own taste in the broth. +5 stars! Oh, and even their bathrooms were clean which I appreciated, and I liked their automatic hand soap dispenser. An excellent dinner to end a day of shopping.

Food was eh and the service was incredibly slow. The spring rolls were mediocre but fresh, so they're probably the highlight of the meal. I ordered the house special pho with everything in it. Meat portion was reasonable, noodles were clumpy, and the broth itself was so sweet and greasy, I felt sick just trying a spoonful. I had to douse my bowl in Sriracha just to get some flavor out of it. Service was painful. We walked in and there was one table of two, and it took us a good ten minutes just to get our water and food orders in (we had looked over the menu and knew exactly what we wanted and was going to order everything with the water, but the waitress walked away before we could finish). The waitress was eating at a table diagonal to mine with someone (the manager, maybe?) on their iPads and her back was facing us, which made it a lot harder to get her attention without being those assholes who have to raise our voice to get serviced. She never turned around to scan her tables (by the end, there was a total of four tables occupied) nor did she come up to us and ask if we needed refills or even the check. Never going there again.

Very good pho. Meat was tender and moist. Good selection of meat, seafood and vegetarian options. Decent service. Good choice for a quick bite with or without kids.

Definitely the best Vietnamese restaurant in Loudoun County. This place is just as good as the ones found in Eden Center in Falls Church. I walked in around 4 pm and the restaurant was already packed with customers. That is when I knew this was a legit restaurant. I ordered one order of garden roll and one large #13 beef noodle soup. It only took them five minutes or so to bring out the food. Both items were impressive! In addition, the portions were very large for the money paid. There are a bunch of Vietnamese restaurants that make you wonder if you ordered kids size, but that is not the case here at Pho Royal. I am definitely coming back soon.

I must say that in my opinion, this place has gone downhill. I used to frequent this place when it first opened about 4 years ago +/-. I thought I was fortunate to have decent pho near my office. Since I was in the Leesburg area today, I visited today for lunch to get a small bowl. I got the basic pho tai and added meatballs. The condiments (sprouts, basil, jalapenos, lime) were plentiful but the sprouts were brown, dissapointing. As you know pho is all about the broth and the broth today was the greasiest that I've eaten in a long time. I can't say that this was a onetime occurrence and hopefully it was. But, I won't be returning anytime soon. If I remember correctly, about 4 years ago, it was consistently good. My fear now is that it is consistently bad.

We have eaten here a few times. We have always found the food to be good, however the staff is so rude and pretentious, that we have decided never to return. There is one guy that sits at the very last table and watches music videos on his iPad. He totally ignores the patrons and acts as if we are inconveniencing him by even coming in. This evening, we had to actually get up and go to the counter to pay our bill, and the person waiting on us said absolutely NOTHING to us. No pleasantries at all. We are looking for a new place to go. Fortunately, there are many Pho bistros in this area.

Love their Pho! Even my toddler loves it. The spring roll is good too. Good service! Takeout they do charge a little extra...probably for the containers?! Highly recommend trying it.

Good pho. Clean restaurant with helpful service and good refill speed on water. Broth was murky. Didn't have the clean + clear quality of Pho Bistro in Ashburn or the depth of the dark broth-ed Pho Royal in Sterling. Maybe some people like murky broth but I don't care for it as much. I can't complain and I enjoyed the pho but I don't think it will be worth driving to Leesburg from Sterling for a lunch break fix in the future.

Little bit of an out-of-the-way location, but a nice, new place with clean, bright interior. I had the fresh rolls and there was a very pleasant and unexpected zing of (I think) lemon grass either in the tamarind-based dipping sauce or the rolls themselves. Very good. Had a large bowl of the tai bo pho - the broth was very pleasantly scented but seemed a tad less "meaty" than elsewhere. Still very good though and I would definitely return.

I am no longer going to this place. They screw up my order EVERY time. I've even said things to them in the past while placing my order and they still continue to screw up and leave out basic items needed for the Pho soup. Unreal. If youwant terrible service then this is your place. I I even had one guy tell me "he didn't have time". You just dont say things like that to customers. I ordered the summer rolls with shrimp and they came out with shrimp and the greyest, oldest looking slice of chicken inside the roll. I was pretty grossed out to be honest.

I'm reluctant to leave a poor review for a local eatery after only one visit, but I was underwhelmed with Pho Royal. It's a brand new restaurant in a brand new shopping center, and visually it is a nice restaurant. But none of that makes up for slow service and mediocre food. For example, we ordered fresh garden rolls for an appetizer. But there wasn't a lot of "fresh" in the garden ingredients. To start with, they were topped with a decidedly limp and quite unappetizing cilantro stem, and the mint inside the roll was wilted to the point of being mushy and tasting slightly spoiled. Without a doubt, Thai Pan is still the winner, hands down, of the Leesburg fresh garden role competition. The pho entree (#6 in my case) was served with the usual plate of sprouts, basil, and peppers. As with the other leafy greens, the basil was a bit wilted, though the sprouts were still crunchy. The broth was definitely not that exciting and I suspect that it is prepackaged and not created by the traditional days-long process it should be to make good pho broth from scratch. The brick of noodles in the soup was barely separated and the meat was OK, but nothing special. Xuan Saigon is still the preferred pho destination in town. There is no doubt that the meat and rice dishes are cooked well before you order them. The one we ordered (I forget which -- marinated beef, rice, and veggies) came with beef that was still refrigerator-cold in the middle and tasted of having been exposed to 'fridge air for too long. And finally, I can't give any props to the wait staff. We sat for 15 minutes with obviously empty plates, bowls, and glasses before anyone bothered to see if we were done or needed anything else. Poor service, cold, wilted food, and a so-so menu is not a good start for this new establishment. I was really looking forward to a second good Vietnamese restaurant in Leesburg, but until they get their act straight in the kitchen, Pho Royal will be taking a back seat to Xuan Saigon for me. I really am not excited by the prospect of a return visit anytime soon until I hear that they've stepped up their game.

Fairly new place in Leesburg, a bit out of the way but don't let that scare you. Fast, friendly and good overall service, place is clean and is a good overall value. I like how they break down their Pho menu based on the type of meat you want, (lean, semi fatty, fatty, etc...) . Every time I go in I am one of the few people in the restaurant, I suspect it's the location so we need to spread the word. Two thumbs up....

Love their Pho! Perfect and piping hot. Fresh sprouts, yummy lime, add some srirachi and duck sauce! Service is so-so. But the pho makes up for it! Their summer rolls are also quite good - especially the peanut dipping sauce! Try to get there at least a few times a month.

Although a bit late, I wanted to post a line or 4 about this new restaurant. My mom and I stopped in after a day of (teethchatteringboneshivering) Christmas shopping. WHO knew Leesburg VA could mimic Sweden's weather so convincingly!? Having never eaten Vietnamese food and we couldn't resist seizing the moment to try something new. As we were in the process of reviewing the menu to place a take-away order, a waiter appeared, took the order and then ushered us to a table. He wanted us to be comfortable while we waited. The place was packed with families and all looked as if they were really enjoying the food. Summary: - Great wait staff! Friendly and attentive! - Restaurant was clean, bright and WARM. =) - Take-away was packaged securely for the 45 min drive home. - Food was still very warm and nothing seemed to have suffered the extra time for transit. A few comments: - Great spices, crispy veggies, tender beef and chicken, excellent crispy spring rolls (not greasy!!), noodles and broth still fantastic even after reheating once home.

When we want PHO, we go here. My husband and I frequent this place pretty often. I like it because it's got rice plates on the list instead of just soup. He loves the soup and I love the teriaki chicken rice dish with the fried egg and bean curd. I don't like the Julianne pork but they're pretty good just giving me an extra bean curd ( which is yummy ). It comes with this vinegar soup thing that i like to soak the veggies in. They have good summer rolls, the peanut sauce is good and the service is pretty good. You get bottomless water, they keep the glass full.

I've been here a couple times, the pho has been pretty good here each time I went. However, the garden rolls could be more neatly made (each time I've eaten these here they would fall apart). Overall, this place is pretty good for the area.

The place was really good, the egg rolls were fresh, the pho broth was good. The only complaint i have are the waiter i had was rude, disrespectful and just have a horrible attitude. The guy behind the register was really nice and had great customer service. Food gets 5 stars service from waiter- 0 stars

This place is more popular with my family than any other restaurant in Leesburg and that's saying something. We get in the mood for pho about once a month and always choose Pho Royal. The restaurant is clean and the food is top shelf. We start with one order each of Crispy Spring Rolls and Garden Rolls. The spring rolls are never greasy and work pretty well for our younger girls. They work well enough to distract them from the favorite of those who know best, the Garden Rolls. These gems are rolled fresh with shrimp, pork slice, Asian greens, rice noodles, and come with a peanut dipping sauce good enough to eat with a spoon. I sometimes order some extras to go. The pho is clean and flavorful and always is served with an abundance of fresh addins. My wife usually sticks with the basic #1 eye round, but of late my son and I are branching out into the more adventurous beef combinations with flank steak and fatty brisket. Everything has been enjoyable so far. For those not interested in pho, they offer an excellent chicken and rice dish reminiscent of Chicken Satay, also a favorite of my daughters who struggle to find the right balance of Hoisin and Sriracha in their lives.

I have been here couple more times since writing my last review. The pho broth still has good taste, but the quality of the ingredients is slowly deteriorating. The bean sprouts were turning brown and the basil leaves were almost wilting. Since it's not far from my house, I would probably still go there when I have a hankering for Pho - but if I were living far away, I don't think I will drive for 30-50 mins to come to this place for Pho.

After multiple takeout visits, I'm convinced this place is great. Friendly staff, well-appointed location that invites you to eat in vice always taking out (with a TV for kiddie entertainment or sports fans depending on the day). Hot tea while you wait for your takeout order (bonus when it's chilly and snowy out). As for the food, broth is always steaming hot when I get home, everything is neatly packed with plenty of the goodies and extra spicy stuff for him. Not much difference in the small and large, so keep that in mind. Summer rolls are always super crisp and super fresh. Broth is just right without too much salt and just enough taste. So good, so yummy, and oh so perfect for this time of year. ABC license is on board. Now time to revisit and eat in!

Finally! A decent Pho place in Leesburg! I've only picked up soup here to eat at home because my husband doesn't eat Pho and I get lonely eating it by myself. The waitstaff is very nice and efficient. When I ordered the other night, the waiter showed me to a chair and gave me a nice hot cup of tea to warm up with. Prices are reasonable but expect a 50c addition when you carry out. Not sure why that's there, perhaps to make up for the lack of tip they're getting? Either way, this is my go-to Pho spot in Leesburg.

This place does participate in doubletakedeals.com which is nice. The spring rolls are good. Crispy and not cigarette thin like other places. The Pho while had decent meat in it, has the same problem almost all Vietnamese restaurants have around here. The have become extremely cheap, with the large bowls very close to what "small" bowls were back in the day. The pho really tastes the same at every Viet place and they all use MSG. Any reviewer that believes they can tell the difference of each shop's soup is delusional. In a blind taste test you would really have no idea. It's getting extremely aggravating that all Viet restaurants have become very cheap while raising prices for their Pho. In addition I was served my Pho after I had taken 2 bites of my spring roll. For some reason Viet places don't know how to control when things come out. So of course when I got to my Pho it wasn't piping hot anymore or maybe it wasn't to begin with. The 3 bean drink I had at the end was nice. The servers for some reason will hand you a menu and 20 second later come back and ask what you want. When you say you need a couple more minutes they don't come back for another 5-10. Pho Royal also charges you $1 extra for hot tea which is positively annoying in an Asian restaurant. In addition they will also charge you a "take out fee". While only $0.50, it's really getting out of hand the nickel and diming they do here. What next? $1 for ice in your water? In the end what really aggravated me was the way they packed my Pho take out. the take out container they used for the soup... beyond "shitty". I don't know how else to say it. They put in hot soup and the lid couldn't seal right and leaked soup all over my car. It didn't even tip. It just leaked all over the other food items into the bag and onto the floor. I only about 4 miles away and the rocking back and forth of the soup inside the container was enough to spill it all over. So now I'm without soup for my noodles plus I have to shampoo and clean out the interior of my car this weekend. Terrible, terrible last impression.

This is by far the nicest looking pho restaurant in the area, inside and out. I go to a pho place to eat pho, so I can't comment on the other food. The pho is decent, above average, and comes with a decent amount of meat. The service is fast, however in the tradition of almost every other pho restaurant in this area, it is non existent after they drop off the soup. Need a refill or something else, forget it. You have to flag someone down (rudely) before they get a clue. I'll still be going there since pho bistro is quite a ways away, but I think I might start ordering two drinks at once.
