We went to kingpins or the first time on Saturday. The interior and decor are beautiful and very nicely laid out. However, service is absolutely horrible. From the time we went in until we left (small 1 hour window) we had nothing but bad service. We had a reservation for 2 hours, they shut our game off after 1 (yes, they shut the game off while we were playing)! We ordered food, and it didn't come out until 5 mins before our game was shut down. Very disappointed. It's not worth the money. And I would never go back or recommend this place to anyone.

Prices are a bit high, but this is our go-to spot for bowling. Very clean, new and a fun environment for bowling.

We used a groupon that we bought - 1 hour family bowling session including shoes. We had a good time bowling... and I beat my husband YAY! I love that you have bumpers for just the kids. But once it was clear I was beating the pants off hubby I let him use them, too. (I still won.) I have never cared for their menu there, so we only ordered drinks while we were bowling. Four drinks (non-alcoholic) was $6. As if that wasn't bad enough, since I was using a groupon & gift card, I had the server add a tip and she decided all by herself that it should be more than I authorized. Since it wasn't a credit card, I didn't have to sign (which I thought was odd) and therefore I didn't notice until after we left. #NotImpressed

It's really dark inside, so you can't see the markers on the lanes. It's also WAY smaller with fewer lanes than I expected. However, even on a Friday night, wasn't crowded at all. It's a little expensive, but that just seems to be a given with bowling in this area. The service was good, and they have an array of food and drinks to choose from that they'll deliver right to your couch. Had a good time, didn't try the food. The bowling shoes are A++. Also, I swear one of the pins is glued down....

This is a good bar where you can bowl a few frames between cocktails. I can easily see the Ashburn moms trekking out here with their screaming broods in tow ("McKenzie, McKenna, McKaylah, you ride with Kayden (with a 'y') and his mom in the Odyssey, and I'll take Emma, Ella, Bella, and Kaiden (with an 'i') in the other Odyssey") and then proceeding to soar way over the legal limit on Chablis while the kids play all the games and Kaiden (with an 'i') wipes boogers on his rented shoes. The lanes were a little hard to see in the late afternoon because of the music videos on the screens above the alleys, but they had Guinness on tap so I became apathetic about my game quickly. The food was good (families in the lanes next to us were eating chicken wings WHILE bowling with lane balls...mmmmmm, keep licking those fingers and enjoy your wings with a side of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease). You are paying a premium to bowl here, so make sure you look into their Monday specials and take advantage of happy hour. And if you notice Kaiden (with an 'i') picking up a chicken tender right after he puts down a house ball, let it go...he's going to grow up to be a dick anyway.

For bowling the place is expensive. Its is very nice which makes it worth the money as long as your server doesn't to MIA the whole time your here like ours did. We asked for menu and the next time she came by she dropped the check. I felt like she couldn't get us out of there fast enough. Terrible service.

If you are going to do it, do it right in the High Rollers Suite. This is my idea of adult bowling. It's located upstairs and includes 10 lanes. There is one waiter for the entire suite but service was prompt and considering that the suite is located near the bar, the drinks come out quickly. The seats in the high roller suite are comfy and spacious enough for 3-4 people. I would not recommend this place for children. Actually, I would be OK if they banned children from here. However, if I worked in the area, I would request all corporate functions to be held here. This is really my definition of a bowling alley.

I went here on Monday night with a group of about 15, we had 2 lanes at the end and it was great! This was my first time at king Pinz and I will be returning. I would like to recognize who I think was the manager, for being a great host and his customer service was outstanding! He checked on our group multiple times and even remembered to ask about the drinks we ordered if they were as great as he made them seem, the red sangria was the bees knees!! I highly recommend it! He made a great impression on me and that's why I gave 4 starts. It would have been 5 but our waiter that night seemed like we were inconveniencing him, he took my sangria away before I was even finished and half the night was unable to be found. When it was time to get the check he brought it to us as one, we asked him what the easiest way for him to split it up would be. He then turned the check over slammed a pen down and walked away. I wish I would have said something before we left. Besides that, great place to go on a night out or just some weeknight fun!

Visited on several occasions and find them convenient to bowl at on a week-night when most other alleys are full up with league play. This is an upscale alley though with projected TV screens over the lanes and disco like lighting. This does make it difficult to see your marks on the lane so don't come here to improve your average. Also the approach area of the lanes seems to be shorter than a normal alley which may or may not mess you up. They have a nice bar and food service to keep you occupied and satiated during frames. There are also quite a few games on the side to occupy the kids who may not like bowling. They are conveniently located near the Wegmans and several decent restaurants as well as movie theaters if you want to do something more than bowl.

Had bad luck with our last visit, broken lane, server had too much area to cover etc. However, manager went out of his way to way to make up for it with comping everything. We definitely understand those bad days happen for a place and they really did make up for the issues. We will definitely be back to enjoy King Pinz in the future.

The place is fun, the drinks are good, but prices are a bit crazy. $8 per game plus $5 for shoes. Then on top of it, not nearly enough staff so you wait and wait and wait for everything. Marked down because we spent more time in line getting money refunded for the games that took our money than actually playing.

this place has terrible employees. our server repeatedly disrespected us, as we are a group of late teens. the food was over priced (as expected) our waitress ignored us and acted as if we could not afford it saying "to be clear it will cost over a hundred dollars" "can you do that?" it was very disrespectful. when giving us our bill she acted like we didnt know how to tip, then proceeded to circle tip on the receipt. then she told us how much to tip her. after checking with the front desk they claimed she was "hormonal" and not trying to be rude. she acted as if my friends and i were plainly stupid. 0/10 would not recommend. would rather go to bowl america. the only reason this has a star is because you cant give 0 starts.

Bring your money bags. Expensive bowling. Nice atmosphere. Good food, but pricey. The rental shoes were in excellent condition. House balls were in fair condition...many had divets in them and felt grubby. Sanitizing hand wipes would be ideal at each lane as a lot of people are eating, bowling and sharing balls. The lanes don't seem as slick as they should be and I wonder if the lanes are laminate and not real wood. I scored so low it wasn't even funny. My biggest issue is that when the server delivered the bill at the end, the food and drink charges were not separated out from the game and shoe rental charges. I tipped on the food and drinks, but I was not going to tip the server 20% on the shoe rental and the game charges. I am happy to tip on the food and drink, but the way the bill was presented it is obvious that King Pinz feels that customers should tip the server for both the meal and the game charges. I think this is rude and a disservice to the customer to expect them to tip the server on the game charges and shoe rental. I used my phone to calculate out the charges, but it was annoying and took time. I had a sense that the server was expecting us to tip on the game and shoes as well as the food, and I do not think that is appropriate. Our server received a large tip based on the food and drinks we ordered. Tipping on the game and shoes would have doubled the already large tip. We also spent $30 at the arcade. Are we expected to tip on that too? It was the most expensive hour and a half ever. King Pinz should list the game charges and meal charges separately on the bill. If someone only wants to bowl and doesn't order food or drinks than they shouldn't be expected to tip the server at all. We will probably be back, but only once or twice a year. We would go regularly if it didn't end up costing us $200 every time for one game and lunch.

Ana was our bartender today, friendly and efficient. The food was great and the manager (Greg) even stopped by to introduce himself and appreciated our patronage. We enjoyed the 21 and over area (High Rollers) as we love our kids (but not everyone else's haha). Great spot, will return.

My son and I used a groupon for an hour of bowling which was an ok deal as regular bowling here is really expensive. We had just ate so we weren't hungry but got 2 waitresses to help us. We just wanted to bowl. Odd that we got a bill for no money and odd that you have to usually pay for overpriced bowling and food AND have to support the wait staff when you don't need anything when all you want to do is bowl.

This review is a 3.5 stars. The location is convenient to those living in the Ashburn/Leesburg area. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center. The venue is between a giant multiplex (Cobb theaters) and a giant Wegmans. In between those anchor stores/theatres are quaint little shops, food places, and this very cool bowling alley. We come here when we want to spend about $7 a game, yup, for the convenience, it's close to my folks condo. They offer full service food/drink/games. We had a fantastic server who always made sure we had enough food/drinks. The food is typically sports bar food. As far as bowling, it's quite pricey, so you can be sure that it's most frequented by kiddie/adult bowling parties. The lanes seems unbalanced as our balls kept spinning to the left, but that could have been our particular lane. The venue is unique in that it has an adult cigar bar, a VIP party room, and a fancy arcade. There's lots of areas to sit near their lobby bar, and like I said the food is pretty good. For serious bowlers, it may be best to head over to the Leesburg Alley.

I went to King Pinz for a work event, so my experience reflects that of the non-High Rollers area, hence my two-star downgrade from fellow Yelp Elite friend Heather G. There were about 8 of us split between two lanes; we found it odd that on a weekday afternoon that they could not accommodate us having longer than a 2-hour reservation on the lanes. Wouldn't they want more money from us? King Pinz is an ADHD bowler's dream. You can barely focus on rolling the ball down the lane due to the ginormous TV screens with larger-than-life Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus music videos occupying your audio/visual real estate, but I don't think one comes to King Pinz to do "serious bowling" a la "The Big Lebowski" anyway. No leagues here, just get-togethers and parties. As other reviews have pointed out, the space is cramped. It grows tiresome having to crawl over your teammates when it's your turn. The large coffee table in between the two couches at each lane are a bit out-of-place and too big. I realize this is a bowling alley for eats and beer, but isn't that what the high-top tables are for on the non-business end of each alley? Speaking of food and drink, it looks like there's an extensive beer/cocktail menu; sadly my work event did not include adult beverages. We did, however, order food from the menu. I will say that if you're looking for "healthy" food, you've come to the wrong place. The typical fare of cheeseburgers, fried chicken items, and creamy pastas with breadsticks and onion rings weren't appealing to me, so I was able to fashion a Paleo/low-carb affair out of their grilled steak salad, minus the blue cheese and fried onion strips, naturally. On a non-bowling front, there's a small collection of arcade and video games, which is great for those who tire easily of bowling or the constant Miley Cyrus sightings on the big screens. Nice classics such as Skee-Ball, basketball hoops, Guitar Hero, etc., plus many games can be played for tickets redeemable for Oriental Trading Company-type items - good for kids in that respect.

I usually like this place for a quick drink. I had a bad experience today. The bartender disappeared for 15 minutes at a time. He saw my near empty drink and left me sitting there. Disclaimer- I was the only one at the bar. When he returned he just handed me my check without asking if I wanted anything else. His mistake because I was going to order another $6.50 drink! As he was running my credit card he propped his phone on the computer screen as he was face timing with someone! I was shocked at the poor service I received. This place is convenient and I am sad to say that I will be taking my business down the street to finnegans for a pre- movie drink.

I was here celebrating my brother in law's birthday. We were directed to the Private Room as soon as we arrived. The waitress promptly took our drink order. There food was served buffet style. There was some typical bar food, such as Wings, Veggies, Cheese and dip. They also brought out Sliders and different kinds of Pizzas. Food was good and plenty of it! No one went away hungry! I was most impressed with the waitress. Not only did she come back to ask if we were ok or needed more, but as I was going into the other room, she asked again if I wanted another drink and knew what I was drinking. I was impressed because there were about 25 people at the party, she was the only waitress...and yet she remembered what I was drinking!

Overpriced. Glitchy, per my teens. $130 for a weeknight 2-game with 1 pizza evening for 4 kids. Never again.

Not your typical bowling alley! Which is a positive. Not sure what the "high-roller" area is, but maybe you need to reserve that. If you decide to go here you need to reserve a lane. If you think you can just walk in, think again. Desk clerks were not very welcoming or polite... the maintenance guy was the nicest person there. I am not sure if I will come back to this place... I need to research next.

Fun for the kids. Its cool that they can add bumpers for the kids directly from the computer. But few actual bowlers here--mostly guys drinking beer without any respect for people in the lane next to them. The checkout process was long and confusing, and I think she was schilling for a tip. It didn't seem like the counter staff was communicating with each other, but they were nice. $60 for a family of five to bowl one game is too much, I think.

I'd give 5 stars though. Best chicken wings ever!!! Best friendliest bar tenders ever. We could come back even though we moved out to Aldie. We will always come back. Love it! Go, go, go!!!

This probably isn't the best venue for serious bowlers, but it's great for an afternoon out with the family. Food came quickly and was decent. Game prices seemed a little high. I want to give special kudos to the management. They were gracious and very attentive. More businesses would do well to follow their example!

Overall it is a nice atmosphere for a group or couple to have fun for an hour or so. Much better than old smelly bowling alleys of my youth. However they rush customers out of lanes and don't allow group to finish the 10 frames. We had 4 adults and a 4 year old. We were charged for 1 hour reserved lane but only got to bowl 9 frames. Asked for additional time, even asked for additional hour to bowl an addition full game, but staff informed us they had lane reserved by another party not yet on location. Considering we needed time to order and eat/drink, and we had a child bowling with us, 1 hour is not enough time for a party of 5. Also it was too expensive. Food was ok. We did not stay to use arcade because we were upset not allowed to finish game and spent too much $ already. Will try other comparable places nearby next time.

Great place to just hang out with friends after a movie or walking around the mall. I always feel like bowling is so underrated and at king pinz they really make it fun! They do karaoke on Saturdays and have a DJ on Friday! Also definitely have to get the beer tube! It makes for a great night!

I've been in here before, and that experience was just alright. I was thinking about going bowling soon, and thought about reading the Yelp reviews of the local bowling allies. After reading the owners stuck-up, snarky comments, that make the customer seem like it's their fault for the poor food, and service I will not be back!

I'm the captain of a bowling team, Snakes on a Lane. Me and my squad came in the other night to bowl a quick frame. Among the multiple grievances I had with this establishment, the most prominent is their inability to adequately accommodate amateur bowlers in a timely fashion. My wait was an hour and 45 minutes! You gotta be kidding me! So me and my boys decided to throw back a couple of boiler makers while we waited. Surprise, no one served us! At least 7 waiters and no attention for 15 minutes. Well we eventually got our lane and the oil patterns were just atrocious. Long story short this place is just Bush league.

For me and my son to bowl 2 games (with one game being free), with lunch ($8 & $9), a soda, and my son's shoe rental was $50 before tip. I brought my own shoes and ball. This is not a cheap place to go bowling. It's more of just an experience. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, so I have absolutely no issue with her. The food was just OK. I had bratwurst, which was just average. My son had a cheeseburger that he didn't like at all. I tasted it and it was over seasoned with something. Not good at all... Don't chefs/cooks know that 80-20 beef with just a little salt and pepper is the best way to go for a burger??? Anyways.... Both meals came with a ton of fries that were pretty good and neither one of us could finish. The sodas were unlimited refills. My son and I had a good time, but with the cost of this place, it's just not worth it. I would still rather go bowling in Leesburg or Chantilly. King Pinz is more about the bar and the night life because I'm sure they make most of their money then, they're not really about an affordable casual family experience. They do birthday parties as well and kids enjoy it, but it does cost more than other bowling alleys. We have had birthday parties at King Pinz and at the bowling alley in Leesburg, so I know.

Despite what we thought was a well coordinated corporate event - during the middle of the day....so you would think it would be easy, turned into a not so easy event with 20 plus people. The coordinator of our event was not in on the day of our event and the rest of the employees were not expecting us and not really happy to see us. The food service was awful. We had to ask for help with refills, removing plates etc. For the amount of money my company paid for the event, I would not recommend. Personally, I have had similar experiences, however; the food is decent, when it is delivered timely and the atmosphere is good. They serve Pepsi, so as a die hard Coke drinker, I stick with water. All the employees don't seem very focused on customer service.

Celebrated a friends birthday there in the High Rollers Suite! Tyler was our waiter and he was prompt. The drinks flowed, ordered some apps, music mixed and the game was on. We had a great time. Advice: Call ahead to reserve lanes! I'm glad that I called the day before to get a lane. We had a nice time! Yes, I would go back.

The concept seems nice! You have bowling, alcohol, food and great music. But when they placed us in lane 12, right next to the bus food station in a hot summer, it just made our experience horrible. Sitting areas for bowling is rather small. Waiter did not explain to us what our package comes with and gave bad attitude to us because we have no appetite to eat with the horrible mixed up food smell from the bus station. Never again I will come here again!

  • Liz G.

Went here with my boyfriend for 1 game because it is a little pricey... 14$ person for 1 game. The staff was extremely rude and told us they weren't sure if it was worth it to find us a lane since we just wanted to play 1 game. In addition to this rude behavior, the lanes are too narrow and you have to stand close to the other bowlers. To conclude this experience the waitress informed us we had to pay her for our game (we had not ordered food or drinks) and encouraged us to tip her, as if 28$ was not enough for 1 game (and she had provided zero service for us). I will not go to this expensive, rude place again!

Just hosted a corporate luncheon/bowling party at King Pinz and it was tons of fun. We had the VIP suite for our group and it worked out perfect. The service was great and the food was good. We even had booze and still came in under budget. Monica was great to work with for planning purposes. Would definitely bring the office back for another outing.

Went there primarily because they have a space for cigar smokers. Found out the cigar lounge opens at 4pm but we were there around 3pm. However, the GM opened it up early for us as the barkeep came available. The GM was very friendly. The bartender also was very friendly and service in the cigar lounge was great. A modest cigar selection at reasonable prices, comfortable, modern furnishings, nearly 360-degrees of flatscreens on the walls. Food was good and reasonably priced. I did not bowl or play any games so no comment there but everyone in my group of four enjoyed their dinner, good service and a relaxing time smoking cigars. Only negative comment is the otherwise excellent ventilation in the cigar lounge was very loud.

I'm writing from the experience of trying, and I will emphasize the word TRYING, to book a private party... First off, I had to call several times to get a straight answer about how to set up a party. When we finally got a name (Erin), she would never answer her phone which meant we had to leave voicemails. When we did catch her on the other end, it always happened to be when she was at the doctor's office or on her way to a night class. I called her once around 1pm on a Monday (granted, it was president's day) and she said she couldn't give me specifics about my date because she was at the doctor's office but would call me back later. When she called back, she left me a voicemail (my fault for not answering) saying not to call her back because she couldn't talk at the moment (on her way to class apparently) but that I was better off NOT booking a party but rather reserving two lanes since I couldn't give her a solid head count for the birthday party. I don't know about you guys, but it's pretty hard to get people to commit to a time and date if you don't have a location to go with it so how was I supposed to give her a firm head count? During the 10 minutes she gave me before her doctor's appointment, I asked if we could reserve a party and increase our numbers in about 2 weeks once invitations had been mailed out and RSVPs started coming in (pretty standard practice with any event venue mind you), she said that we wouldn't be able to do that and we had to reserve for the maximum number of people we were anticipating. I asked what would happen if I booked a party for 30 people and ended up with only 20 people what would happened to the overpayment, would I get a refund/credit to my card back? and she said that no, I would NOT get a refund rather I would get a credit for a future event. Uh, what? Why would I book an event when the process thus far has been like pulling teeth?! Even with all that lack of customer service, we were STILL trying to give them our business. Like, practically BEGGING them to take our money and we have yet to receive the "no obligation event proposal" that they advertise on their website. So now, instead we are going to be holding our bowling party at another bowling ally. We will be spending about 1/3 of what we would have spent at King Pinz and we were able to reserve 5 lanes with a credit card courtesy hold. It took all of 5 mins to set that up vs. 3 days of un-returned called, voicemails, e-mails and the ultimate "just forget the party idea..." we were given. I gave them 2 stars bc once you are actually there, it is a really great atmosphere but it's just so not worth the hassle.

This is a bowling place/arcade/restaurant/bar. I'm only reviewing the restaurant portion because I normally only come here to eat. There is no greeter when you come in so that means you seat yourself. Well, at this place that means service isn't very good but the food is surprisingly good. On 4 separate occasions I've come here and it takes forever to get drinks/menu/refills/check etc. So many employees walking around but yet it takes 15-20 mins to get a menu. Like I said, food is good but not sure that I'll keep coming back

King Pinz was one stop of several on a triple-date night with some great friends. The location is easy to get to - lots of parking. One of the guys made reservations and I'm glad he did - we would've been waiting awhile otherwise. It was nice to head right in and get bowling. The staff at the cashier were extremely friendly, especially one gal I wish I had the name of; she was very friendly and happy to be there. The wait staff was also very attentive and friendly though they were pushing the beverages very strongly - that obviously is their profit center. The TV projection behind the lanes was pretty sweet - having the Nats game live was more fun for me than the bowling itself. The bowling itself was fine - plenty of clean new bowling balls, the return was unusually fast, the LCDs were new and bright. The deck was well cleaned, no scratches or dings. The problem with King Pinz is that the seating areas are extremely compact - you have to step over each other just to get up to the lanes - makes for a tight experience. With 6 people, it was almost unenjoyable. If it weren't for the great company, we wouldn't have finished the round. As it was, we left after a single game opting for somewhere with more room and better food. That's why I won't be back - the service was great, even very friendly, but the core part of the experience was no good.

Everything was ok, unless you cared at all about the bowling. My family and I were there for my daughter's 9th birthday, and we bowled on lane 16. The lane was so sticky it was nearly impossible to bowl properly, as your slide foot would just stick to the alley on your approach, causing your roll to go wildly offline. I had to start one step from the foul line and just roll it from there. Furthermore, in 2.5 games, the pin setter knocked down one of our pins 6 times. 5 times when one of us had a leave of 1 or 2 pins on the first ball, the pin setter knocked down one of the pins. This resulted in open frames even if the spare was picked up, because the computer registered (for example) 8 on the first ball and 1 on the second ball, even though there was no chance to pick up the 10th pin since it was gone. One time, my pins were set with no head pin, again causing an open frame. All of this would have been not so bad if the automated machine control panel worked, which supposedly allows you to erase scores, reset pins, call for help, call the wait staff, etc. I tried a few times to use some of these features. None of them worked at all, and there was never any staff around to help out. We ordered dinner there and the food was decent. The salads were actually quite good, and the menu has some standard greasy bowling alley fare along with some more healthy options. Unfortunately, our waitress missed a few items that we ordered, but by the time the food came it was pointless to reorder those. Overall, King Pinz is a bad value and a poor bowling experience. We spent $100 in total with a 1.5 hour alley rental for four people, shoe rentals, and a modest dinner. Clearly King Pinz is much more focused on the big screen TVs and disco lights that abound in the place than the actual bowling experience. We won't be patronizing this establishment again.

I'm seeing some people complain about their bills being over $100... my story should make you feel a lot better. Went in on a Sunday with 3 friends, and 4 kids between us (total of 8 people). Waited a while for a lane to open (we actually had 2 lanes, I think). Bowled 3 games, shoe rentals, got the kids some drinks, a pizza, and the cookie shooters (which are pretty cool). Also ordered one round of mixed drinks for the adults. I expected it to be a pretty high bill, but was shocked when the total was almost $500!!! $500... for bowling. I paid $500... to bowl. That one really hurt. It was our own fault for not grasping that we were being charged for 8 people per game. I'm not really complaining, just trying to make you guys who were shocked at $100 bills feel a little better about your outing. Overall, it was fun- but not even remotely worth what we paid. The place is very clean, big TV screens above the lanes, and the food is average. It's a nice place... but very expensive. Have fun, but be mindful of what you're paying... to bowl.

Great bowling, but soooo overpriced. Paid over $100 for 2 games, 1 pizza and 1 beer for our family of five! Also, they add the bowling to the entire tab and the servers expect a tip on the entire tab. Don't feel like I need to tip my server for the bowling!

I should caveat this review that I am by no means a regular bowler and far from competitive. I really enjoyed this place. Unlike most bowling alleys, this one seemed pretty upscale: full restaurant and bar at your lanes. We got a pizza for lunch, which was a bit on the greasy side but very cheesy and tasty. Service was good, drinks were obviously good. They had 90's music videos playing at the end of the lanes, which was pretty sweet for me. Would definitely go again!

We've been here twice and have always had a great time. One time we had the normal area and once the High Roller area, and while the high roller area is better both are good. Drinks are great but haven't tried the food, though the menu options are better than your average bowling alley. You have to call ahead to reserve a lane or you have no chance of getting in, and it may even be best to call the night before to reserve at your preferred time. Both times we have tried to reserve at a certain time and there's nothing available. You pay by the hour to bowl and need to tell them how long you will be there, which seems dumb b/c you can't put a time limit on fun, but after an hour of bowling I'm normally done anyway. The other negative is that they charge $5 each for shoes, which seems ridiculous to me since it's kind of expense to bowl in the first place.

Warped lanes, high prices, overpriced outdated video games...what more could you ask for from a bowling alley?

Great location for either a family day out or a corporate event. I happened to be working for a client at this location. The service was great and accommodating. Would make a great place for a holiday party

The z in Pinz should tell you everything you need to know. They apparently put so much thought into making it a hip place to hang out that they forgot it's also a bowling alley. I mean, I get it. You want everyone to come hang out on the couches and bowl with their friends while spending a metric ton at the bar. You want them to reserve the VIP Suite for their parties and maybe opt for some catering while they're there. You want the giant projection screens showing ESPN to be so entrancing that people don't notice it's their turn and rack up the play time. It makes sense, in theory. Only problem with that formula is I'm too distracted with all the things you've done wrong. Your coffee tables are so big that bowlers can't get to the lane without stepping over people or on their feet. Your cramped lanes had me feeling claustrophobic and the wall hemming in lane 12 is so close that it effected people's bowling. Don't get me started on a scoring system that doesn't show everyone's score at the same time if you have more than 5 players. Really, they just need to stop trying so hard. Maybe I'm biased because I actually like bowling and am not an alcohol swilling 20-something. It's probably perfect for kid's birthday parties, but for my money I like the old crotchety Bowl Americas of my youth.

Worst place I've been in a LONG time! Do NOT go there! Horrible food, bad service, management has NO sense of customer service! We went with 3 couples for dinner, drinks & bowling. The steak on my salad was ice cold along with surf and turf, soups were luke warm if that, both slider orders came out on full burger buns cut into quarters?, sides were wrong, appetizers came out with the meal, 2 drinks took 30 minutes to get to the table (which were awful!)... And that was just dinner! Manager came to the table to talk to us about what happened and all he did was say "I'm sorry about that" and walked away! After further complaining he finally compted $6 off my salad, one order of the sliders, and the 2 martini drinks that we made them take back! The bowling was WAY over priced for the quality of the balls & lanes, $48 for a lane for an hour!?! And the bathrooms looked like they hadn't been tended to since who knows when... I will never go back and neither will any of the group I was with, or the people I share my story with. I wish I wouldn't have wasted my Saturday night there, and I'm so upset that I'm thinking about calling the GM or even trying to a hold of the actual owner...

I honestly don't know how this place stays in business. You call for a bowling lane and are told they are booked through the night. You then go inside and its virtually empty. No first come first serve policy. I have not been impressed with the people who answer the phone when calling to book a reservation nor have I had good experiences with the wait staff. Good luck!

Food is pretty decent. Met up with coworkers several times and we sat outside, which is nice for the summer. I bowled a few times and i won't do again. I HATE how tight and cramped it is. It is VERY AWKWARD when you have to sit facing strangers that you are not bowling with. I do like the fact they had a DJ on Friday nights, but they had a new DJ the last time I was there and he wasn't as good as DJ G-Wiz, he should be the main one.

I came here with a group of 8, kind of last minute without really planning on it. So when we were told that the lanes had been reserved up until 10:30 PM (We arrived around 7 PM), we understood. However, disappointed because we didn't want to stay THAT long. We decided to sit near the pool table, and kill some time with a tube of beer, and appetizers. An hour later, we found out that due to miscommunication, our wait actually was extended to 11:30 PM. We didn't want to stay THAT long. Therefore, we finished up some games, and paid our bill. The prices are a little high for the food, especially appetizers. They weren't really that good, and the beer was probably the best deal. A tube of domestic beer for $23 was good for sharing. I thought the service was standard and decent, minus the miscommunication at the desk to reserve a bowling lane. The bowling lanes looked very nice and cool, with the modern sitting areas to eat. However, I didn't actually get to experience it myself so can't really provide too much judgement on that portion. Overall, standard but tad pricey. Would I come back? Perhaps, only because we have family that are in the area. Would we make the hike and go into the area FOR this place? NO... I probably would just return to try the bowling and have some drinks. The food wasn't worth it here.

A little suprised by all of the negative reviews. (yeah a 3 star doesnt look like a great review, i get that but i have to drop atleast one star as i was drinking and dont want to drunkely say great job) Stopped in for some bowling, drinking and make some snacks. Mission accomplished. Was a good pregaming activity before a night out and the pitchers are well priced. Will update following a sober visit.

This place is terrible. I have never been here and went to try it out for my husband's birthday on Saturday. We made reservations by phone much earlier in the day for 14 people for 10pm (2 lanes). We were visiting the movies across the street, so at 7pm, we physically walked into King Pinz and reconfirmed the time and number of lanes and how long we'll be staying for (they charge you by the time the lane is used, not by number of players). Everything was still great. We finished our movie, walked back to King Pinz, and we're told our reservation suddenly is for 10:30. After fussing a little, and getting no where, we hang around the half hour playing their games. Convinient. You F up my reservation and then I have to spend money either ordering food, drinks, or killing time playing games. Great business model there. 10:30 comes, 10:30 goes. We get a bullshit excuse that the person using the lane we reserved ran over his time. So tell me, how is this MY problem? 11:00 rolls around and our party of 14 people are LIVID. They give us 1 lane while they resolve the issue of getting the 2nd lane. Yet, at 11:20, the second lane never comes. So we give them back our shoes (no one paid) and head out. A waitress has the audacity to ask the one lane that bowled 4 frames that they need to pay for their shoes. I honestly wanted to beat her face in. This is the most stupid run business ever. How are you going to only offer 12 bowlings lanes, and then run it by the hour and not player, but then not do anything when some idiot goes over his time. HOW THE F IS THAT MY PROBLEM!?!?!? The manager needs some serious help managing the reservations/time issue he has. I've been to so many bowling allies and it pales in comparison. You can't spend thousands on decorating and a DJ but then end up losing customers because your focal point (bowling) lacks in organization.

I went to King Pinz with a large group so we rented two lanes. For the most part, we had fun. It was bowling, so there's not much you can do to make it fancy. The fun is in the people you go with. Anyway...my boyfriend and I were the last to arrive. So we just joined our group after showing our IDs at the door. The first sign of trouble was when this tall, skinny, black kid walks up as my BF bowls his first frame and tells him - somewhat rudely - that he has to get shoe rentals. He huffed away after getting his shoe size, but never said anything to me so I followed him. I ask if I can play in my sneakers and got a rude eyeroll and huffy 'No'. I just shrugged it off and went back to my group. It turns out the guy was the server for my group. He was good natured while we bowled. However, when the bill came that all changed. He hadn't split the bill between lanes like we asked and had charged us for more shoe rentals than we'd used. He was huffy about taking off the extra charges, and basically refused to split the check. So we tried telling him who ordered what and he rolled his eyes and acted all put upon. One of my friends snatched the check from him and told him we'd write down the split for him. I'm not saying that was right, but his response was to send a security guard to watch us. THAT was completely uncalled for. We figured out the group split and left a $5 tip - even though he truly deserved nothing. So in a nutshell, the atmosphere and food were fun. Not spectacular, but fun. And it was a little overpriced, but not atrociously so. But the service was horrible. Completely disrespectful. And we will NOT be going back for that reason alone.

I thought the facility was really nice and the food, albeit a little pricey, was pretty good considering it's a bowling alley. Thought our waitress was great, she was attentive and moved quick. The only thing I was annoyed with, was we were the only group in the entire place until a group of young kids (10ish?) came in - and they were put on the lane right next to us. With an entire bowling alley open I would've appreciated it if they spaced us out a little more. We left as soon as our game was over. If that hadn't happened, 4 stars.

I have been to King Pinz before with my friends and were always told what the price for each game was at the counter when checking in. This time, the front desk guy told us simply that it was "$8 a game". WOW! On a Friday night it's going to be only "$8 a game"? We'll do two! Well, after finishing up our 2 games we asked our waiter (or bartender- not sure) how much an additional game would be. The waiter (or bartender) told us it would be "$8 a game". Awesome! So we tacked on another game as well as another 100 Oz beer tube thing. After we finished our game and our drinks, we asked for the bill. ONE HUNDRED AN SIXTY DOLLARS LATER we came to the realization that it was "$8 a game" PER PERSON. Not only did we ask twice the price for the price of the games, but we were intentionally duped into believe that the games were only $8. What was their response to my claim of highway robbery? "Well, it's kind of implied". Implied? That's the service & value of your dollar you get at King Pinz. Got to Dulles Golf Center and play putt-putt because at least you know there it's $8 a person per round. Ridiculous. Wont be back.

Well, here comes another negative review for this place. Maybe they should take note? Anyway, I will preface this with saying that I DID have a good experience here last Christmas. I rented out the VIP area for my employees last holiday and we had it catered through them. The customer service then was great, the food was....ok, and I didn't have any complaints! Everybody had fun and got hammered (and I got the bill!). Not surprisngly, we did have good service. That will happen when I drop a few thousand and the waitress knew she was going to get a couple of hundred off of me in tip so I am still not overly impressed. Good service should be a constant, not just when a few grand is at play... Fast forward to a few weeks ago. Some friends of ours invited us to go bowling here with them so we went. We got out shoes and then went to the bar where the bartender was friendly and helped us figure out what the more cost effective way to drink a lot of beer was. That was nice and she was great. Then we moved over to our lane. Our server was another female (wish I had gotten her name) whom was very short with us and not friendly at all. It took forever to get refills (the place was at least half empty!!!) but she was quick with rudeness. At one point we pressed the call button and had to wait about 10 minutes for her to get to us (keep in mind, she wasn't working a bunch of lanes) and when she did, I guess I wasn't loud enough because she said "Look at me when you speak to me!!". Am I 4? No, I am in my 30's and in charge of how much I tip. She stormed off and reset our lane. The timer had been running on our lane this whole time and when I brought that to her attention she said she will do what she can (with a pissy attitude) and did add 10 min. to our lane which was nice. I did after this point out to her, in a nice manner, that she was rude and that I didn't appreciate being talked to like a 4 y.o.. We never saw her again except when she brought our check. My friend gave me cash and I gave her the cash and my card and said "Please use the cash towards the bill and put the rest on my card". She neglected to do that..but instead, kept the cash and charged me for the whole thing!!! That wasn't your tip!!!!! I was about to not tip another dollar but my buddy threw in come cash and I signed my tab. She then goes to a bartender and loudly says that we stiffed her!!!! At this point I ask for the manager who was pretty much a customer service idiot but he did apologize and he did comp us 4 free games (about 1 hour for 4 of us) in the future. Whatever. I won't be back. They really need to keep tabs on the wait staff. If you have a crappy attitude and don't like your job, find another one.

Too pricey for a game of bowling. The over sized TV's and loud music - just don't make it a good place to hang out with friends and family. A typical bowling alley may not be as nice or clean, but I can bowl 2 games for the price of one here.

Cute place and great location if you're in Leesburg. Don't let the guys reading this be swayed by "cute," but that I mean: huge TV's, flowing beer, appetizers aplenty and bowling everywhere. Great for with a few friends, or for a private party. Parking is close by in the garage down the block.

Legalized extortion at its finest.....never, ever again. Went today, on a Monday and was charged for a weekend rate due to being MLK day. 2 adults, 2 kids and $76 (before tip) after bowling 2 games we left thinking we just got robbed. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!! Go F yourself.

It's summer and the temperatures are soaring......close to 100 with the heat index approaching 120. My daughter's summer camp had to cancel their outdoor field trip due to the extreme temps, and headed to King Pinz in Leesburg instead. Lunch time hits and instead of being allowed to eat the REQUIRED lunch they bring to camp indoors at the alley, they are told they must eat it in the parking lot. By law, in these temps, the kids can't eat lunch outdoors with the camp...probably because it could become a health issue. Hmmm......does King Pinz make an acception to the rule for outside food indoors?...Nope! Not only that, they were extremely rude about it! Maybe they should have mentioned the fact that the kids wouldn't be allowed to bring their lunch to the alley. Anyways...I have never bowled here. I have considered it, but after reading the negative reviews about customer service and the way they treated these kids, they will NEVER get my business.Hopefully they won't get YOURS either after reading this. Hopefully SOON, they will take their mediocre food, non-kid friendly environment, over-priced games, and crappy service, and either find new management AND employees, or shut down for good.

Ok so for lack of better terms, this place blows. We had been getting all of these things in the mail for King Pinz for months ranting and raving about the hottest new upscale bowling alley and restaurant in town. Finally made it in out of boredom last Saturday night, wow, what a joke. The only thing upscale about this place is the price. It's tiny, unorganized and packed full of every idiot you went to school with that still lives in mommy's basement. Good for a self esteem boost I guess, but leaps and bounds from what they advertise. I've seen bigger arcades in private homes and the bowling area would fit inside a mcdonalds. 12 lanes? Seriously? Why even bother building a bowling alley with 12 lanes. Needless to say if you actually want to bowl, you're screwed. Not enough capacity in this place to even hold a small crowd. Didn't try the food so I cant attest to the quality, I have to imagine its on par with the rest of the place though, over advertised crap. They could certainly win a positive marketing contest, endless flyers and complete BS trying to promote this place. I literally laughed upon walking in the door, they have more security guards than actual guests. Easy guys, nobody is going to be trying to sneak in to this place. When a run down Bowl America puts a brand new "upscale" business to shame, there is a real problem. Perhaps if they weren't on such a limited budget building it and actually stuck it in a suitable location, it would be more successful. There simply isn't near enough space inside to do anything other than run a retail shop or small eatery. Great idea for a business, very poor execution. By the way I sure hope they didn't pay much for décor and fixtures. The railings are already falling apart, welds are all broken a the seams with random pieces just dangling to stab yourself with. Floor is already trashed and there are household extension cords plugged into every arcade game within easy reach of guests. Wont be going back to King Pinz unless of course I need a moral boost or somewhere to empty my bowels :)

I've got one thing to say about this place. BARF. We did a last-minute stop in over one of the kids holidays from school and had lunch. We tried a variety of things, the best were mediocre, the worst were things that make my stomach wretch. Service was 'meh' considering we were one of only two tables seated - we weren't even eating in the bowling area.

Bend over, grab your bowling shoes and be prepared. This isn't Bowl America. You're not gonna run into guys with wife beaters on, shoes that would be better served on a homeless person, or hot dogs rotating under a heat lamp. For that, my friend, you will pay. IF you can get past the amount of coin that would make 3rd world country dictators salivate, you'll be fine. Just put yourself in a "Vegas" mindset. It's just money, right? Little Timmy here is loving it! Another game, another round, some apps ... HOLY SHIT $130?!?! Did my wife buy the bowling shoes cause it matched her purse or something?!? The ghastly cost aside, the place is nice. It's clean. It's modern. They've got lanes and computers that actually work, and bowling balls that aren't chipped to hell and roll sideways. The food doesn't suck. There's even a nice little arcade on the side for those who say to hell with bowling, I'm an air hockey god. You can actually have a good time here. You'll lose your shirt, but you'll have a good time. Just like Vegas!

The place looks nice and I found the people at the bar and serving food to be very nice. The evening started out well. I did not make reservations, so I had to wait about an hour for a lane, which as perfectly fine, we hung out at the bar. We bowled a total of 2 games and ordered a lot of food (4 of us total). Somewhere during the open frames of game two, one of the younf managers working told us we couldn't spend 5 hurs bowling 2 games and she thingks we may be able to finish our game, but they have other reservations waiting. % hours was a vast exaggeration, after we started bowling, it was probably a total of 1 hour for the games and food. Her attitude was rude, flustered, killed our evening. I went to the front desk to speak to her and she wouldn't look at me, she just kept repeating I understand sir, over and over. Other staff apologized on her behalf, but I won't go again after being treated so poorly by an ill-equipt manager/staff member.

Took 4 children there on a Saturday. Had a lane reservation. 1 hour of bowling, plus the game tokens (can you really say no to the kids?), shoe rentals, and food came to $100. Not exactly a cheap 90 minutes. The lane was available when we arrived. They neglect to tell you that upon "checking in" the meter starts running. By the time the kids got their shoes on, fussed around to find suitable balls, etc. we saw on the overhead screen that we had 54 minutes of bowling left. We hadn't rolled a single ball. After complaining to the waiter, a manager arrived and said they added 10 minutes to our time. Happy they did that, but not happy I had to complain. Advice is to arrive early and get all your gear and then check in so you can bowl straight away. If you do open bowling you pay by the game, but you risk lanes being unavailable. If you reserve a lane as I did, please note that you will be timed out abruptly. We got through 15 frames for five people in our hour. When the time is up, the lane goes dark. It was my turn at that time and could not finish my second roll. The kids were mildly disappointed because they had entered a playful guessing game of my final score, but I couldn't finish. Other than those annoyances, it's an interesting place to hang out. Food is pub grub quality (I mean, who has any expectations of bowling alley food?). Kids will have fun.

We had the pleasure of celebrating my son's 10th birthday at King Pinz on Sunday, August 7th. Where shall I begin? The party was scheduled in the 3p-4:45 time slot. We arrived at 2:30 and not only was the Manager ready and waiting, our 2 lanes and food service was ALREADY in place. We had Jenny as our server/hostess and WOW!! Not only did anticipate our every need before we could ask but she had the most "can do because the customer comes first" attitude I've ever encountered. Our party came with drinks and 2 pizza pies. Not one slice left! Delish! Geez.... 2 paragraphs and I didn't mention the bowling. LOL! We had the BEST time bowling. Plenty of space for 10 adults so kids are more than fine. Great lanes with lots of big screen theatre-vision and an arcade to the left of the lanes. Is it pricey? Just think of it as "you get what you pay for" and BOY did we get more than we expected based on some of the reviews. I say go and make up your own mind. That's what we did and we had the time of our lives. Thanks King Pinz! You made a repeat customer out of me and my extended family! :)

Pros: Offers amusement park and arcade games until you're ready to bowl (i.e., skee-ball, punching bag, golf and first person shooter arcades.) Bar Available. Movies across the street if you get bored and waited too long to bowl. Cons: I've been here twice, but have yet to bowl. Really busy. Bottomline: If you really want to bowl, you will probably have to wait a while. If you just want something to do for fun, it's a good area.

King Pinz is a pretty fun atmosphere and something different then the usual spots. I've been there twice and had a pretty good time each visit. That being said they are WAY overpriced. Food and drink prices are reasonable. Bowling is not. We went for a friends bday and for 2 hours of bowling for 7 of us it came to $229 just for the bowling and shoe rental. That's $35 a person to bowl 3 games. Service was average at best. Its not a place to go to focus on bowling. More to hang out. Decent place and I'd think it were 3 1/2 stars or so with more reasonable pricing

Went to King Pinz on a Tuesday at 12:30 with 4 other coworkers to celebrate a birthday. Had lunch and bowled for one hour. Food prices are $10+ and sodas $2.50. The food is slightly better than an old school bowling alley. The food was disappointing. The menu design/colors/appearance gives the appearance that the food is going to be special. So, our expectations were not met. The environment of the bowling alley is hip and cool. The sitting area for the bowlers is cramped, largely because a unmoveable table is situated between the two designer sofas. This is a real problem, I won't think of going back because this is a major inconvenience having to ask people to get up out of their comfy sofa so you can get your ball and bowl. Service was decent, nothing unusually good or bad to report. If they change the seating arrangements and improve the food, I will go back, I think the idea for a place like this makes sense. I'm not sure families on a middle income are going to be repeat customers unless they bring the prices down a bit. For customers with disposable income, the 'experience' will need to improve. The bill for five of us was $157, not including tips, and did not include any beer/alcohol. Maybe we should have drank to feel better about the experience. Final thoughts, the large screen TV's are great and the bar looked like it had a lot of choices. We arrived at 12:30 and most of the lanes were in use for an office Christmas party. They looked like they were having a lot of fun at this office party.

OK so I went back last weekend for some bowling with friends, and yes it was kind of expensive. That being said tho, it was also a great time! Everything from the lounge style couches, to the updated nicer consoles all made for a good night out with friends. We ordered a tower of beer to share, which at $22 was a pretty good deal. The lighting, music, giant screens across the lanes, and even the weird animations that happen on the tv's after you roll your ball were neat and a welcome change from the drab 70's run down dirty bowling alley's we're all used to. This place comes across as hip, modern, high tech and classy. The lanes fill up fast, and even with a reservation we had a bit of a wait. But all in all this is probably the coolest bowling joint we've ever been to. We will definitely be back, after we save up some money =)

So I had heard this place was expensive but my husband and I wanted to try it out. GREAT service! Good food. The problem? The actual bowling alley. If you are a slider when you bowl, this AIN'T the place to bowl! There is no wax on the alley and I about fell flat on my face trying to bowl. Been there, done that.

The place passes itself off as a 'fancy' bowling alley. And the prices are consistent with that designation. Unfortunately, the service and quality are not. Although it tries to be, it's no Lucky Strike.

King Pinz Bowling is open in The Village at Leesburg (near the new Wegman's) so we went to give it a try. I was really really wanting this place to be great. At first impression and just by driving by I thought it looked pretty awesome. Nice bar up front, a lot of TVs, 3 wall sized projection tvs over the lanes. Here's a summary of the experience ( overall a huge disappointment): Atmosphere: Good. I'd say they built it right. The TVs are great. The atmosphere "look and feel" is good as well. It was mid-week when we went so there was an average to small crowd and quiet in general. It would have been nice to have some music playing instead of TV's that were turned down to the point you couldn't really hear anything. Still, I reserve judgment until /if I revisit on a Thursday - Saturday. Service: Bad. If you're bowling, you walk in and get shoes and then are assigned a lane. You pay for shoes, bowling and anything you order while bowling with a waitress. We get a lane and see no one for 10 minutes (we're a third through our game at this point). I go to the bar to get drinks. When we're ready to leave, I ask for the check. We wait at least 15 minutes. Keep in mind the place is not busy. I keep my eye on our waitress, and I think she just totally forgot. Meanwhile, if she just opened her eyes she would have seen us standing there, done bowling just waiting to pay. Bowling: Terrible. I bowl maybe 3 times a year and don't think I have unreasonable expectations. When you bowl, you get shoes that allow you to slide a little when you release the ball, right? Ever bowl and have your shoe stick and you lunge / fall forward? This is what this place is like, except, it can't be solved with a new pair of shoes or cleaning the lane. It's like the lanes aren't polished or something to give them that slide. There's no point in shelling out money for renting bowling shoes when they serve zero purpose on these lanes. Now, if you're the type that walks up, stands there and rolls the ball down - you'll be fine. I'll never pay money to bowl here again (unless this is corrected). Menu: Good. After starting our game, we decided one beer / one game and we're done So we didn't order food. The menu looked decent with good choices. Price: Average. Prices were what I'd expect them to be at this sort of place so nothing out of the ordinary. However, when you consider the poor service and horrible lanes, i can't really say the prices are reasonable. They're where you'd expect them to be in a place that looks like this and offers good service to match.

Update: I increased my rating from 3 to 5 now. I rated them when they were still new and are trying to get things together. We now love their food (better than what we get at Bowling places), drinks, and game time. We almost go there couple of times a week. Great location, great atmosphere and fun place for kids birthday parties and friends hang out. I like how the arcade area looks and the bowling alleys are excellent with LCD TVs displaying our scores. We celebrated our kids birthday there recently and all our guests were very impressed with the place and it's setup. One of them even commented that we finally have a good bowling place to hang out that doesn't look cheesy like those "Great America Bowling" places.

So lame. After out group's second round of drinks in roughly an hour we were told that we would be cut off if we ordered more drinks too quickly. Our underage brothers has ordered sodas and were told they were being watched so they didn't try to sneak our drinks. Drinks were weak and WAY overpriced. Will not be returning. Would not recommend.

Pretty cool place. Although rather expensive. I get the concept-I GET IT. But 60.00 for bowling for 3 people (2adults, one child) on a Friday-Thats a little absurd. We stopped by anyways to check out the hoopla. Hmmm lets see 10 lanes MAX. A crowded lobby with no real direction on where the lanes are, a noisy bar where drunks would take their kids and let them run around while they get hammered. Ok the lanes are nicely decorated with disco lighting and large screens to watch sports and stuff( 1 star) ..but wait i did say only 10 lanes MAX. I will give them props on the handicap ramp so that grandma can bowl also (+1 star). But only 10 lanes. No wonder they take reservations. The arcade is where we where headed, Its not your conventional arcade with tokens, more like a D&B with less games. A LOT LESS. This place is great if you are looking to spend a lot and impress someone. I would rather go to the old fashioned lanes and spend about half. not gonna return.

Our small birthday celebration for our nine-year-old and a few of her friends was poorly managed by King Pinz. They took us very late, there were problems with the lane, etc. They did compensate us for the trouble, but the staff was obviously exasperated--not by us, but by what appeared to be an all-too common experience for them.

I really like this place, it's a cool and fun establishment. I love the fact that they have a cigar lounge. I've been looking for an upscale bowling alley, kinda got tired of AMF and Bowl America. Its like a mini Dave&Busters here. A little pricey though, but its cool.

King Pinz is one of the worst, nicer bowling alley's I've ever been to. Last night we went in with a group 7 for some bowling, games, and beers. When we arrive around 10:50 the place was by no means busy but we were told it would be a 40 minute wait to bowl and that we should just play some video games in the meantime. So here we all are, mounting up our mandatory credit card type "tokens" to play some air hockey and what not only to find out the air hockey was broken. The basketball machine had flat balls or ones too large so they got stuck, and 2 games shut off right in the middle of playing. After only 10 minutes of bad games our bowling pager went off. Why did we just set ourselves up to play games for 40 minutes if it was only going to be a 10 minute wait? The waitress did an OK job taking care of us while we bowled but the score system messed up several times throughout our play so after 2 games we called it a night. When we asked for our check we were dumbfounded to find out that our tab was over $240 for 2 games, some shoes, and a couple of beers each. Then to make matters worse the waitress made a mistake and her extremely unqualified manager decided he would take over only to make things worse. He ended up charging our card twice the amount owed then, tried to just cross it out with a pen, then swore he couldn't fix it. Luckily I know Micros systems and was able to educate this poor sap but it was sad to see him so confident that he pushed the waitress aside when she actually DID know how to fix the problem. After nearly 40 minutes of arguing with the manager my friends were drunk, fed up, and ready to leave to go play some free shuffle board and pool back at the apartment. Seriously this place is a ripoff with terrible service (1 waitress excluded) and prices higher than anyone should ever be charged for an otherwise typically inexpensive entertainment.

Woah - this place is a racket. My family of 5 (4 of us were bowling) arrived at 3:05pm. I went up to the counter to get a lane. There were none available as there were lanes already being used & a party holding 7 lanes that started at 4pm. So, for 55 minutes, there were 7 open lanes but they were being held. I thought this was a little ridiculous. I can see holding them if it was 15-30 minutes before, but 55 minutes for a family with 2 kids bowling seemed a little crazy. So, we decided to play games & wait for a lane, which the girl at the desk told me "I have no idea when a lane could open, it could be quite some time". So, I asked her to change my $50. She said she couldn't do that & I had to go to the bar to get change. I did & went back to the King Pinz Card machine (the machines don't take coins). The man was repairing the machine. So, I waited for him to finish & then got 2 cards with $10 on each. At $3 for each mini-bowling game, that was the most expensive game we played. Basketball & skee ball were average priced at 75 & 50 cents each. Our cards played out & my younger son with 95 "tickets" (which are saved to the card) got 2 small tootsie rolls & a Sweet Tart lollipop. My older son decided to save up more tickets for a bigger prize. After spending the $20, we went over to the bar & had a seat at a table. We looked around for a waiter & there were 3, but none were coming over. My husband walked over to the bar & then one of the 3 waiters came towards him & asked him if we would like to order & see menus. We just wanted drinks at that point since we were still waiting for a lane. We got our drinks at 3:55pm. At 4:10pm- the party holding the 7 lanes arrived. It took them another 10-15 minutes to get shoes & get settled into lanes - again, plenty of time for my family to have played at least 1 game, if not 2. Our waiter told us at 3:55pm that lane 8 was almost finished & we would probably get that one. At 4:10pm, my husband & I decided to give it 10 more minutes before we were calling it a day & skipping bowling. At 4pm, lane 8 cleared & was cleaned. At 4:15pm, the buzzer rang for our reservation. We did get lane 8. Lane 7 (again, remember it was saved for the party) was never used. They only used Lane 1-6, so that whole time, we could have been on lane 7 & not interuppted the party.. I went to the restroom during our game & went out the "back exit" which led me to the area behind the pins. I walked down the hallway instead of having to walk all the way through all of the games, crowds, etc... . After I was 3/4 of the way down the hallway, the man in the back (pin man for lack of a better name) stopped me & told me I couldn't go that way. So, I turned around & pulled the bathroom door handle, but it was locked. So, I had to go out the back exit & back in through a door that said "no entry" on it to get back in. I asked why there wasn't a lock on the door that I originally left from & the man said it was only to be used "in case of fire". Then how about a sign reading "Fire Exit Only" or "Employees Only"? We were finished our games at 5:32pm, started at 4:23pm & had nachos, 2 beers, 7 games (a free coupon for one game) and 4 shoe rentals. The total with tax was $73.62!! Then, there is a gratuity calculator at the bottom of the bill. Are you kidding me that you want me to tip for bowling? I will tip for food, for drinks & for service. But, I will not tip for bowling. We picked up & returned our shoes - that is really the only service that could have been offered, again, except for food & drinks. So, we left a $3.00 tip for the food & drinks ($19) and rolled out of there vowing that we would not return anytime soon. Gimmick is totally there - no question it is a moneymaker. But, for 4 of us even not to eat or drink would have been $53.00 - a little high for 1 hour of entertainment. I totally agree with the previous reviewer about the lanes. They are not slippery at all. The shoes are pointless on this type of floor. We could hear the music over the tvs, barely. If you are looking to improve your bowling game, this is not the place. Plus, "Pin Man" walked in front of our lane - as we were bowling to walk by. I thought that was rude & completely disruptive of play. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to take the kids for an afternoon, this is not it. I can't imagine a time when it would be ok to spend this much money for 1 hour. This being said, I have no doubt this place will make it in this area. But, it won't get me back there unless it is for a kid's party because the price for a non-party is way too much.

This place is new and pumping. Go into the bar for a fulfilled night of $1 pool and games. The drink prices are a little expensive. it reminds me of DC prices! $10 for a long Island! Insanity I tell you! Although the decor and everything is nice.

King Pinz is a lot more expensive ($35 per hour weekdays, $55 per hr friday and sat nights + food, drinks, tip as there is service at the lanes) compared to Bowl America and I believe the goal is to attract a more mature crowd. You won't find large groups of teenagers hanging out on a friday/sat night at the Pinz. Its an intimate place that caters toward adults. Sometimes this is nice, especially on a Friday after work when you just want to relax with friends and not compete with squealing little ones and teenagers looking for a inexpensive place to hangout on a friday/sat night. I don't see how this place is worth it if you don't care and just want to bowl. You'd have just as good a time at BA while saving a bit of money. I enjoy King Pinz because there are many family friendly establishments in Loudoun and not very many adult centered places so I support this bowling alley as much as I can in hopes that more places will see that there is a demand in Loudoun for nightlife (25 and older crowd) and we are willing to pay for it. Again, I wouldn't suggest this place when you just want to bowl with your little ones for a fun family night out (soley due to the expense) but def recommend it when you are looking to have a nice night out with a group of buddies.

My suggestion to anyone who is interested on trying this place is to NOT go. I have been trying to go to this place for awhile and when I finally decide to go I cam honestly say I had the worst time of my life. My boyfriend and I walk in there on Wednesday night around 8 pm we wanted To eat and than bowl.after sitting ourselves at a table we wait 15 minutes and no waiter to attend us. I finally get up and asked one of three waiters to please have someone serve us. Needless to say not only did I have to get up 2 times to ask for a waiter but the bartender was nothing but rude. After about 30 mins of waiting I got really pist and told her she could shove it because they were unprofessional and useless! At some point I really thought they were being racist towards us because the waiters would look at us and pass us by. Terrible service don't waste your time. It's obvious the managers or owner need to educate their employees and teach them how to treat customers. King Pinz suck!!!!!!!!

This place is ridiculous and you could not pay me to go there again. They have an annoying bowling person that is also your server. To be honest I'm not even sure of their title and they expect to be tipped 20% of shoe rental/lane fees/food/drinks. After giving us a bill for over $300 (for 2 hours of bowling/food) our server rolled his eyes as we gave them a coupon for $10 off. Not to mention they charged us twice for shoes that our own people brought. You could also kindly ask to get a check split 3 ways as we did and what you get is to have your server give you an attitude, rip the check out of your hands, and have the security guard come over and watch you like a hawk. I don't know what tipping has come to in this country, but it is ridiculous. Our total bill was 300, our server wanted to be tipped on that. Why would I tip you for the price of bowling shoe rentals? Why would I tip you for the cost to bowl? Okay food and drinks yes, but that is it. I, along with the dozen people I was with will never go to this place again. It was a horrible experience with the worst server I have ever had. To top it off, he also rudely questioned the $15 tip he received. In my opinion he deserved nothing. It could have been a good experience, but it was ruined by ridiculous, wrong charges, and extremely rude behavior. If you want to overpay for bowling and be treated like dirt for spending $300 in 2 hours then by all means knock yourself out!

I gave this place 2 stars because it's a nice place to bowl and the food is decent. However, the service is horrible and it is absurdly expensive. I ended up paying over $100 for 1 game of bowling for 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids), shoe rental and some cheap bar food (no alcohol) which didn't arrive until we were in our last frame. Then we were kicked out of our lane because our reservation was only for an hour. The kids had fun but I'm still in shock from how much I had to pay.
