It pains me to write a not-so-good review for a store that has such a friendly staff and an incredibly involved "chef?" Based on her attire, I assume she is the head chef. Well, I don't have the names of the cupcakes down-pat but will try to describe them to the best of my ability. I ordered the cupcake that was about cookies. It had chocolate chips in it and looked delicious as it called my name from the glass case. What a disappointment. I felt so bad. It was hard and super dry. I couldn't get past the texture so unfortunately, I can't comment on the taste because the horrible texture underwhelmed me. Then I took home the cupcake that was sports themed. I believe it had Guinness in the batter and the filling/topping. Now, that cupcake was delicious. It was moist, it was tastey, and it was memorable. The issue I am having is that prior to joining Yelp, I had visited this establishment and was not remotely impressed with their cupcakes. I finally had one this time around that was good, but I have had better. I am truly sorry. The coffee and the atmosphere are great, but the sweets leave a lot to be desired. I will keep trying because their service is really worth coming back for a 3rd chance. Who knows, maybe 3rd time's the charm??

What a wonderfully delicious cupcake spot! The frosting is a perfect butter cream with rich flavors and no dense crisco. One of the stores manager's informed patrons of the shops commitment to organic supplies and they also had vegan options available. I tried one of their more interesting flavors, blue cheese mixed dried fruit and cardamom. It was perfectly balanced and delicious and the cake was moist with a perfect texture.I love it when you can get something out of the ordinary that is not just an after thought. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for the promise of a perfect cupcake, this shoppe delivers. Get you some.

Not sure what happened with the unhappy customers, because I had a great experience. Staff were very kind, attentive and tended to my order efficiently. And my "it was Mint to be" cupcake was DELICIOUS. Super soft and moist with a dollop of ganache in the center and just melted in my mouth. Frosting was minty and sweet - actually didn't need to be as sweet as it was but it didn't take away from the amazing cupcake underneath. Had a good latte too. Will definitely be back.

Walked in for something sweet after dinner nearby and was greeted immediately by one of the owners, Leon..something? He offered me a tour, described each cupcake flavor with details regarding organic status, use of alcohol, gluten-free and vegan-free options, open mic night, etc. When I said I was just in town for the weekend and would be leaving before the shop opened the next a.m. so would not be able to get coffee, he gave me a free cup just to try. Excellent customer service, obvious passion from the owner and a tasy cupcake to boot. Not the most moist cake I ever had, but delicious frosting and worth supporting for the simple fact of it being a small, local business and such care for the satisfaction of the customer. Nicely done!

I have no complaints on the cupcakes, they have different choices each time I come in. The first time I visited they told me types of flavored coffee they serve. Once I heard butterscotch I said, OH Yeah, especially since I cannot find a butterscotch milkshake anywhere but High's Ice Cream in Portsmouth. The coffee was scrumptious I savored every drop of that butterscotch coffee. Remembering that most delicious butterscotch coffee, I had to go back for more, boy was I disappointed. I really wish I would of remembered the person who made my first butterscotch coffee, cause I haven't had savored that flavor since. They attempted to make it right, which I thought was really nice. I visited again, and realized I still had the full cup of coffee still in my car they replaced it, however it truly was not like my first cup of butterscotch coffee. Today I tried again, with the gift card they gave me, still no joy. I may try again, since I do have $3 left on it, but that will be the last. Hopefully I will happen upon the lady that made my first cup of butterscotch coffee, and take note. Well if not it will surely help with calorie control, because I will not go out my way to get a cupcake and butterscotch coffee. I do like coffee with my sweets!

I'll restrict my comment to the chocolate cupcakes, as that's all I get here. Fabulous, dark and moist. Best. Chocolate. Ever!!! The cake as well as the icing. One comment, there are many days when I think of visiting this shop, and I don't see any chocolate on the menu. If there were some predictability to the menu rotation, the "regulars" would know which day to show up...IJS.

Yummy, hard to explain how good these cupcakes are. A must try in Hampton the owner and staff are friendly and helpful. Now if they just shipped i would be a happy girl.

I just wanted to comment on Lorenzo's outstanding customer service and mentorship for his crew. It was evident when I walked in that he was " The Boss" and his employees respected him. Customer service from your staff was so sincere. The boy with the long hair acknowledged every customer, even when there were 6 people in line. He was very mindful of his customers entering and leaving. I just sat there in awe, drinking my hot chocolate, eating my cupcake and observing. I have been in VA for 3 weeks and this kind of hospitality is a first for me and I go out everyday to eat! I am used to eating desserts that are very sweet and not all natural and still I enjoyed the cupcake!! I shook Lorenzo's hand and thanked him for the wonderful experience. Three hours later, walking to my car, I walked by your bakery, looked in the window and there was Lorenzo greeting customers and having a casual conversation. He leads from the front and sets the example!

Stopped by since my friend is vegan and wanted to try their cupcakes. Customer service was phenomenal- a gentleman explained everything and convinced me to try a cupcake even though I had just planned on getting iced coffee. I am not vegan so got their PB cupcake. I'll be honest when I say I'm a hater in the gourmet cupcake world. They're super expensive and nothing special. HOWEVER their PB was nothing like I've had. I live near Sprinkles and Georgetown Cupcakes and this one by far was the best. The chocolate cake was moist and their PB frosting was whip cream-like and their chocolate ganache was divine. I am also embarrassed to admit that my friends and I were "those" customers who took up a seating area for 5 hours. Yes, FIVE hours. In my defense, we were catching up after not seeing each other for over 3 years. They never once gave us a hard time. It's not the place I can go to every week b/c of the price tag but wouldn't hesitate to go as a treat.

Customer service is awesome, quality control is awesome. I love their cookies, their tres leches cupcake, the peanut butter cheesecake, and any cupcake with ganache. Uncontrollably addictive.

I'm so glad I found this place! Seriously great cupcakes. My guy and I stopped in to pick up two to-go cupcakes, and it was pretty busy on a Saturday night. A very nice man was walking through the line and explaining the different types of cupcakes, how they ice certain ones fresh, how they always have at least one gluten-free or vegan cupcake, etc. Pretty impressive. I believe he even said that on one day of the week, they even accommodate diabetics... that's pretty cool as well. We ended up choosing the 24-Karat Cake (carrot cake) and the Blue Blazes (blueberry). Both had a cream cheese frosting and were very moist cupcakes. The carrot cake had shredded carrots, pineapple, and (I think) walnuts, and was out of this world! Very fresh tasting. Prices are a little steep but the cupcakes are gourmet; it may hurt my feelings to buy a dozen but I'll totally treat myself and buy one or two every now and then!

I am more of an ice cream person but when it comes to Ethereal Cupcakes, I am a cupcake fan. I love that they switch up their flavors and use organic or natural ingredients. I like their coffee too, it pairs perfectly with a cupcake! They offer gluten free options and heather, lighter calorie options as well. The staff is great, they greet you when you walk in and explain anything you need to know about the ingredients and flavors. They have seating and lounge area to enjoy your treat if you're not in a rush.

The best Chai latte I've ever had! I get mine customized with espresso and almond milk. Staff is also very pleasant, accommodating, and friendly.

This is just an addendum to the previous review. They recently added a Bailey's Irish Creme latte that is absolutely ridiculous!! Any cupcake or pastry paired with this orgasmic drink is sure to taste phenomenal! I'm sorry, but this is barely hyperbole. That latte is... I would sell an organ for it... It's that good... *sheds a tear of gratitude & gazes off into the distance*

Oh My God - these were legit the best cupcakes I have ever had. E-V-E-R. Yep. That's right - I said that and I've had some damn good cupcakes. I've had some yummy cupcakes from this place in my hometown that are orange dreamsicle goodness of vanilla bean, I've had cupcakes in Austin, TX The fiancee has a pretty serious sweet tooth and he loves cupcakes so while in the area eating before the circus we stopped in here. A nice fella working inside gave us a rundown of the menu for the day. I saw several coffee drinks that I'd have liked to try if we had more time and hadn't just eaten so we opted to take two cupcakes to go and eat them after the circus and after we got back home to Virginia Beach. The fiancee got the Churro cupcake - which was basically cinnamon everywhere with some more cinnamon and I got the strawberries and cream cupcake because I love strawberry things. They were both DELICIOUS - I mean literally like legit good. The cake itself was moist and fresh - my strawberry one had chunks of strawberries baked in. The churro one tasted like buttery cinnamon toast crunch cereal. The icing was light and delicious - def. homemade and it was rich and fresh but not too rich. We are both pretty picky when it comes to cupcakes and these seriously were absolutely amazing. AMAZEBALLS. You need some in your life - hell I need some more in my life and I don't even have a sweet tooth. I'm going to be eating some of these again next time I go to Peninsula Town Center - I can promise you that!

Stepped in with my friend today and was immediately greeted by the staff and given a full run down of all the cupcakes available. We then proceeded to try and only pick one cupcake ! I bought the lemon and blueberry cupcake and my friend got the Oreo cupcake infused with Bailey liquor ! They were both delicious. Our coffees were also one of the best we've had so far in the 5 months we've been in America and I love that they offer almond milk as an option Check this place out, you'll love it !

  • Robin H.

Went there for the first time today. Ordered the "Coconut,Lime" cupcake. It had absolutely no taste. The texture was both dense and dry. The only lime taste came from the slice of lime on top. The coconut may have had some taste if it had been roasted. I had my daughter taste it just to see if she could detect any lime flavor , and she said no. Keep your all natural whatever. This was a really, really bad cupcake. I'll take grandma's version. Sometimes a little indulgence is necessary.

We stumbled upon this gem just looking for coffee. Employees are well-dressed an took time to explain things. They have super gourmet cupcakes and coffees, so we ordered a red white and blue (holiday theme blueberry) and a chocolate one, plus coffees with chocolate syrup, which we requested special. Usually it is difficult to get extras but they didn't bat an eye. Cupcakes are decadent, rich and delicious. Great coffee too. Wish we had one of these in Maryland. Much better than Georgetown or other DC chains. Definitely stop here if in Hampton Roads.

Thanks to Ethereal, I am now a cupcake addict! I love Ethereal Cupcakes! Best Service! Best Cupcakes! Best coffee (forget that disgusting stuff Starbucks brews... It's acidic and burnt tasting and just nasty compared to Ethereal)! The menu is ever changing and they are constantly experimenting with new flavors and every single cupcake I have tried is delicious! I have never been disappointed coming here and the staff is so friendly, ever visit feels like I just came home from a long trip away and everyone is excited to see me! Loranzo has got to be the friendliest person I have ever met! He always asks me how I am doing and and you can tell that he is passionate about his job and so is every one else who works there! The only downside is, that all the cupcakes look so delicious and sometimes it is difficult just to choose one. Good job on also offering gluten free and vegan options. I wonder if they could try substituting sugar for stevia...?

The service? AMAZING. The cupcakes. AMAZING. I literally had to stay away because I would buy 2 cupcakes a day for a week just to try the different varieties. They switch them up on a daily basis so you never know what's next. They are beyond professional and are very attentive to each customer who enters. I love the genuinely friendly service because that is hard to find now. I am definitely a loyal customer and can't wait to try the next new cupcake!

Awesome awesome awesome! Can't say it enough! We were greeted as soon as we entered by a nice and welcoming gentleman who then explained all of the cupcake flavors after finding out it was our first time. I ordered the crème brûlée cupcake, and it felt like I was in France for a moment. Cupcake wars would have no contest if these guys showed up. Coffee was freshly brewed for me and is a great compliment, no cream or sugar needed. Service continues to be great as I sit here, I'll be bringing back my points card for more asap.

Wow! I love cupcakes so much that I bleed frosting. So another cupcake to adventure was AWSOME! This place has great service with 2 gentlemen explaining each cupcake, etc. Finally settle on an orange screwdriver and snowball. The orange screwdriver is made with vanilla cupcake infused with orange juice and vodka. Not that I'm an alcoholic or anything but I didn't really taste the vodka or the orange. It was settle. The snowball was vanilla cupcake with coconut icing, basically what you would think it should taste. The cupcakes were both moist not too sweet. Prices range from $3 for gourmet cupcakes and $4 for super gourmet. They change flavors daily. Overall very delicious, moist and flavorful.

Only reviewing the coffee, staff, and space here as I didn't partake in the cupcaked-ness. I love the location of this little spot - it's definitely a gem when we're talking about Hampton, VA and its dearth of great options. I had a tasty cappuccino and didn't have to wait long. The place seemed quite popular! There's a small amount of seating here so I wouldn't plan on studying or working at this location, but there are a few couches for lounging over a warm roasted coffee or espresso for sure. Plenty of magazines are available to peruse while waiting or drinking as well. Remember to mention if you're military or a student - there's a discount (10-15% I can't remember exactly)!

About the best darn cupcakes I've ever had! Never been a fan of cupcakes, used to call them ghetto muffins ... mainly because I didn't like the frosting. These days however, being that most cupcakes now have buttercream I guess I should stop calling them that and just go for what they are, cupcakes. My first time was w/o the wife, but I had to tell her and most of all take her there. The cupcakes I've tasted are as good as they look. I like that, when I'm not tricked by something being tasty looking and then tasting .. not so good. I like the personal service. Big plus for military discount. Definitely a fan of these cupcakes. Ethereal cupcakes, you have made a believer out of me.

So I desperately want to love this place but I have to admit that I get irritated every time I go there, spend over $40 for a dozen cupcakes and then some of them aren't fresh-- well, that just makes me mad. Problem is, I haven't found a good bakery in the area to replace this place so I'm stuck with hit or miss quality and super expensive prices.

Excellent selection of baked concoctions and superb French press coffee. Staff is super friendly and will walk you through each of the different cupcakes to help make a delightful selection. Stop in have a cake and a smile.

The moment I stepped into the door, a helpful lady welcomed me and introduced all the flavors they had for the day. A helpful hint: they post each day's flavors the night before. My first cupcake from Ethereal was the Wunderbar (German Chocolate). First impression of the cupcake was that it looked very decadent... My first bite followed through, confirming how satisfying the cupcake was. The icing was perfect and melts in your mouth. The cupcake itself was moist but crumbly. This is definitely a good alternative to the cupcake places in DC and is much closer to home.

While I was in sweden my husband went to this place and I of course heard about it the same day. He doesn't necessarily like cupcakes so when he says they are awesome, well then they must be. So we just happened to be walling around in the little town center (which I love btw!) and I knew that he would want a cupcake. After forcing (sorry!) him to buy my coffee at barnes and nobles we walked over to get a cupcake. My entrance was of course classy by spilling coffee everywhere over the stroller *doh* but the friendly guy working there quickly handed me some napkins. I like the little shop and how they display their cupcakes. Even the non-cupcake liking person would say that they sure look tasty. I love that they greet every costumer in person and gives them a rundown of what cupcakes they have. we got two kinds, blueberry swirl and peanut butter something choklady thingy. While my daughter gladly downed the blueberry one my husband did the same to the other. I had a bite and ... although the cupcake itself was delicious and moist ... I just can't stand buttercream. But the two in my company didn't care. It's a nice place and I will definitely take people visiting here so they can try themselves. As for myself, I'm sticking to something without buttercream :)

Love the flavors and I always leave with at least 2 cupcakes BUT I wish they would have some consistency. Like maybe keep a few flavors as part of an everyday menu instead of changing every cupcake everyday. Really missing that pineapple upside down cupcake !!

  • Nichole L.

This place was amazing. They have regular, vegan, and boozy cupcakes. The service was amazing, a staff member met us at the door and was like a personal cupcake concierge. She explained every flavor and was very patient while we decided. We ended up with the pure vanilla, carrot cake, and reese's pb. The vanilla was like the richest vanilla bean ice cream, the carrot cake may have been the best carrot cake I have ever had as it was full of delicious bits and yet still light and moist. The reese's was a little too sweet and dense for me, it was almost like a rich pie, but my husband loved it. The coffee was good as well. Will be returning to try other flavors.

  • Ahmirah J.

To be honest, it wasn't all that especially for that $$ price you have to pay. ($6 for 2 cupcake) well damn and that's with a military discount. Just to think I travelled all the way over the bridge and tunnel to get to this place. "As If" the cupcakes were dry and had no flavor what so ever. I mean I know they are all about healthy eating so the cut out alot of the "bad stuff". Well... for me I guess I rather eat cupcakes with the bad stuff in it. For instance they do not add food coloring to the red velvet cupcakes, so it tastes way different then what you would regularly expect. Hey bottom line to each is own... Its just my opinion and I will not be back.

I just had the "Just Nutella I love Her" it's real good. The Nutella is not so distinct in taste bit still real good. I also ordered the Spiced Sweet Potato, White Russian and Blueberry Cheesecake Dream. A friends daughter had the Blueberry Cheesecake Dream and it's really not what she expected, she thought she was having an actual blueberry cheesecake, so I don't think I will be eating mine, someone else will be partaking that particular piece of cupcake...

Expensive and terrible cupcakes. For $4 u should get an exquisite cupcake but not here. Staff were inattentive and came across and quite rude.

As much as it pains me to do so, I have to amend my original review. Although the guy behind the counter was very nice, he was a bit uninformed about the stock and that wound up costing me time...too much of it, and that is where my problem lies. I came in specifically for one flavor of cupcake (checked the website, so I knew it was there) and was told they were available...came in to get two, but saw that there was a flavor I didn't see on the website on one of the cake stands...it looked like strawberry, so I specifically asked if it was strawberry and was told yes. So. I ordered my original two and the extra strawberry. After a few minutes, I was told that the flavor I originally anted wasn't available for another hour...well, I wasn't going to wait an hour and there were no other flavors I was interested in, so I requested a refund. Being that there is only one register in the whole place, I had to wait while others ordered and paid before I could receive my money back. When it was all said and done, I was in that shop for over 20 minutes...much too long to get a couple of cupcakes. Imagine my surprise when I got home and discovered that the strawberry cupcake was not plain strawberry, but strawberry and chocolate with some fruit filling in it...was definitely not expecting that...and I am not a fan of strawberry chocolate mixes. I was a bit annoyed with that as well. Unfortunately, although the customer service seems to be very good, the confusion and the unnecessary wait left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll think twice before going again.

I ordered the churro cupcake. It tasted like cinnamon lard and dry bread. Very disappointing and over priced.

I was so happy to have found this place- the cupcakes were AMAZING! 3 friends and I each got one cupcake apiece and decided to share them. However, after each bite, it was so hard to trace it to try the next one! I loved every one that I tried and I cannot wait to come back and try more!

My family and I stopped in yesterday to get some coffee, we were instantly greeted by a friendly young man who was very professional as he explained the different flavors available that day,as well as how the cupcakes were made, organic, some vegan, We placed our order and sat down to the most delectable cupcakes this side of Heaven! Our oldest child declared that we have to go back every day! This place definitely got it right.. definitely worth a visit [ or many] if you haven't given them a try yet.

I've hardly been to any cupcake shops, but within the last three years, I have found myself going to Three. This one was not only clean, and the logo was welcoming, but the staff were friendly and helpful as well. They offered plenty of variety, you can order a cake here, and their cupcakes come with the option of being Gluten-free, alcohol infused, all organic, and more. Their flavors are unique, and each so moist and rich with flavor. Their coffee, however, is highly on the bitter side. There was not enough sugar or milk in the world to sweeten their coffee. I would say save yourself the money, and buy your coffee somewhere else. Focus on their cupcakes, as they bring the entirety of their charm up. I will go here again!

  • Madee C.

Really bummed by my second visit here. The first visit was wonderful. The man who explained every flavor and how the shop works was extremely friendly and never made us feel rushed or uncomfortable. He told us about how fresh the cupcakes are and they ice each one to order, and they keep the cheesecake cupcakes in the fridge. Very pleasant experience, and the cupcakes were very good. My boyfriend was able to "customize" his cupcake by ordering one flavor with a different icing. The second visit was the complete opposite. The person working was rude and short with us when we walked in. Once we decided on flavors, he reached under the display and handed us both cupcakes. The cheesecake was warm and not good, while the raspberry cupcake had no filling inside even though it was supposed to have some. For the price I no longer think that this place is worth it. The cupcakes were not as good at the first time, and the service was severely lacking. Don't think I will be returning again. Would give 4 stars for first visit, second visit knocks it down to 2.

Staff- bright pink shirts to go with their bright pink faces and bright cherry demeanor. Very attentive, they know whats bakin, whats good, whats in everything. Its awesome. Cupcake.- theres a reason why their 'chocolate concoction' is not really called 'death by chocolate'-- i mean, if thats what death tastes like..then what the heck is up with all the anti-aging, death defying procedures? Id say come at me! But, seriously, it was yummy ( even after sitting in my car all night because i forgot to take them out :( ) I posted a cross section picture of it. The icing was royal tasting and wonderful.. the cake part was moist, buttery and tasted like a 3$ cupcake should! You can tell that they dont use cheap ingredients, which is awesome! I also purchased their coconut-vanilla one, ill update with that one later! Its located conveniently in the PTC mall, so im glad they get some foot traffic. They also sell mixed coffee drinks. Chairs and tables set up,i guess its a decent date/study place + free wifi. Their flavors constantly rotate and i think they update their website to reflect these changes. Their selections are seasonal friendly ( pumpkin heaven), ive also seen white chocolate pistacio, and they have 4 cupcakes ( 3?) with liquor infused- olive vodka, kahlua, irish creme, etc. Anyhow, if im craving a cupcake, ill definitely be back!!

  • Juli B.

Oh my, these cupcakes are delicious! I am always mind blown by the staff that will tell you exactly what every kind of cupcakes is made of, without even asking for all that information. They dont always have the same cupcakes, which "forces" you to try something new every time. The only tiny negative is: I would like the place to be a little bit cozier, maybe more couches, more of a coffehouse atmosphere? It still won't keep me from coming back for more!

Customer service was AMAZING! One employee greeted us and asked us if we've been there before - when we said "no," he gave us a mini "tour" of all the selections - it was quick and not overbearing at all. Loved that they have vegan option(s). Got the strawberry and really enjoyed it, but I'm not a big cupcake person so I don't have much to compare it to - came here mostly because they offered a vegan dessert option for after lunch. We were there for a while and the employees came to check up on us, but in a very friendly, accommodating way, not in an effort to rush us to finish and get out. Too bad I don't live near this place, but when I am back in the area, I'll be sure to visit again!

It's official: these cupcakes are the BEST I've ever had!!!! Yes, yes, yes! I can't believe that I've discovered a bakery that uses organic ingredients! The cupcakes are moist and tastes just good the next day! Everyday, the bakery has 12 new flavors...we had chocolate with cream cheeses frosting, chocolate with vanilla frosting, vanilla with vanilla frosting, and raspberry--it had FRESH RASPBERRIES in it!!!! Absolutely DELICIOUS! Anytime we're in the Hampton, we will be here!!!!

Cupcakes were amazing! I have been to DC cupcakes and this place beats DC Cupcakes! These Cupcakes are made from organic, non-GMO ingredients and some are gluten-free and vegan. The owner is really excited about his creations and loves to talk about it. I love it when people are passionate about their work. We will be coming back :)

So, I live cupcakes. Being a baker and cake decorator in the past I am extremely picky. I have one other cupcake place in Virginia that I enjoy but I think this one may take first place due to the fact that they have vegan options. Not only can I get cupcakes for me and my family but our friends too! The cakes are moist and flavorful and they don't feel heavy. You leave feeling satisfied. Another plus, the service. I mentioned that I was sad they didn't carry monin chai syrup and a couple weeks later it was ordered. This is the only place that I have found that carries it in 8 years! And I mentioned a lavender cupcake... I'm told they are working on it, I can't wait until they come out with it. Just a tip: people complain about the service, it may seem like a bit much, but you are getting top notch care as soon as you walk in the door. Don't want to deal with it and just want to look at the selection? Tell them you already looked at the menu on Facebook or their website. They will let you do your looking without being bothered!

Decent cupcakes but a little overpriced. Coffee was good though, so that's something. Customer service needs work. I was greeted when I came in which was nice but then was smothered by the guy coming out and approaching me to talk about their product. A little overwhelming for me, but some might prefer it. Had I not bought anything it would have been awkward trying to escape his bombardment. He was very knowledgable about what the cupcakes were but his responses were really long winded. Just the name would be fine and then go further if I ask, but a minute long spiel on each different cupcake was too extensive. I also had to ask for a cup of water 4 or 5 times before someone else eventually got it for me. Maybe it was an off day, who knows.

Why only 2 stars when this is such a highly rated and reviewed establishment? Don't get me wrong, the cupcakes here are absolutely delicious and the customer service is FANTASTIC....it's just that I'm VERY DISHEARTENED and DISAPPOINTED that the employees are not "fairly compensated" for the phenomenal service they give (aka the TIP JAR -- apparently it's NOT FOR THEM). Whenever you walk into this establishment, you will always be greeted by a warm welcome, "Hi, welcome to Ethereal Cupcakes!" During the busy peak hours you can see that employees, dressed in pink button downs and black ties, are running around trying to fill drink orders and box cupcakes. I know this is a local small business and I support and appreciate that (the owner who is very gregarious and upbeat certainly takes pride and joy in what he does, how he wants his business to operate, etc). PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE TIP JAR THOUGH. There is a small clear box by the register. It is usually filled with one dollar bills and coins...but there is no sign stating what the box is for. Typically, you would assume it is for tips. When I asked one of the employees if that was their tip jar, he said, "I actually think that's for charity. It's not for tips." When I went again a few weeks later, I wanted to know how I could tip the employees working the register/floor. (I've worked a lot of service jobs so I understand how far a single dollar bill can go and how it really does help pay the bills at the end of the month). When I asked, "Is this not the tip jar? What is this for?" she hesitantly told me, "Actually...this tip jar is for the owner. We don't get tipped." I was SHOCKED. All these extra dollars and coins were going straight to the owner's pocket. *****THE TIP JAR IS FOR THE OWNER --- NOT FOR HIS EMPLOYEES***** Even though their cupcakes and ice cream cookie sandwiches (which they are now offering) are absolutely delicious...I do not want to support this business any longer. By all means get yourself cupcakes if you're in the mood for one or a few or a whole dozen -- JUST ASK ABOUT THE TIP JAR. Ask how you can tip them. (Apparently you can tip them directly aka -- dollar in hand). Maybe I got some bad information -- who knows. Do yourself (and the employees) a favor though -- ask about it. Rant over.

We came here this evening ready for an ethereal cupcake experience and we got just that. My sister is gluten-free, but wanted nothing other than a hearty cupcake for her birthday so we trekked out to Hampton to check this place out. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by sweet smells and smiling faces. The customer service was great and the cupcakes were even better! My mom and I ordered the red-diculous red velvet cupcakes (which aren't red, by the way) and we weren't disappointed! My dad ordered the Oreo cupcake and my sister of course ordered the gluten-free orange cream. Although we arrived around 7 and most of their desserts and drinks had sold out, the staff was very accommodating and did their best to make sure we were satisfied. Since they didn't have any more bottles of chocolate milk, our server went to the back and made some for us with their syrup. It was sweet (both the gesture and the milk). The prices were also very reasonable. I've become so accustomed to spending around $4 for a cupcake up in DC, but it was refreshing to see more reasonable prices for desserts here. I'll be sure to stop by again the next time I'm in town!

I adore cupcakes because the cake to frosting ratio satisfies my gnarly sweet tooth. That said, Ethereal cupcakes didn't really do it for me. The cake was mediocre. The frosting was delicious, though. Even the gluten-free. The service is delightful, and they speak well-informed about their product -- as they should. I was so convinced and intrigued, I ordered six different cupcakes. The flavors change daily, but I felt there were a majority of chocolate variations this particular Saturday. I will continue to try more flavors. Also, they offer a small discount for students, senior citizens, and active military.

The cupcake selection is awesome. The flavors have been different each time I've gone, so I've had an ebony and ivory, vanilla chai, and vegan Oreo. I think the vegan was actually the best one, but the icing on the chai cupcake was good. The actual cupcakes seem a bit dry and they're pretty expensive. Worth a try but nothing amazing!

By far the best cupcake place around. Very friendly; a gentlemen greets you up front (in front of the counter) and points out all the goodies, what ingredients are in each one, etc. Friendly and quick service, and my Chocolate Midnight Delight was TERRIFIC. It's to bad I live about an hour away, because I would visit here a lot more often!

This place has truly decadent cupcakes and I appreciate their locally roasted coffee. However, I find myself bothered by someone coming out from behind the counter and giving me what I feel like is a scripted speech about their baking practices and flavors every time I go in. They have detailed descriptive signs about their cupcake flavors so I feel like it's overkill. Still, a great cupcake and I'll keep going.

I love Ethreal!! I always make it a habit to drop in whenever I'm in town. Every cupcake I have tried has been so deliciously perfect! I'm also impressed by their vegan and gluten free options. I have a friend who has celiac disease and she fell in love with her almond cupcake. I would also like to add that their chai is one of the best chai lattes I have ever tried. You can really taste the real and natural flavor, unlike the fake syrups you get at Starbucks. All in all, I definitely recommend trying this little shop out!

It's not often a store names itself with the most apt word to describe it's product, but this place nailed it. Ethereal. Not sure it's a sustainable business model in Hampton, VA, but that basically gives me a reason to go more often. They have amazing service, immediately upon walking in you are greeted and they give you a 1-2 minute spiel on their all organic cupcakes, gluton-free and vegan options offered daily, etc. I'm sure a lot of people really care about that stuff, but I was there for the taste, not the process. And amazingly, they managed to do both right. Listen, folks, they could have made these things from the remnants of burned tires and I would be back. They offer free wi-fi, so I opted to dine in and get some work done between meetings. They have a few tables and a cozy area with a few armchairs and a coffee table. Onto to good stuff. I ordered the salted caramel cupcake and a coffee. The coffee was really great, fresh brewed with quality beans. The cupcake was...ethereal. Seriously. The frosting was light and fluffy with a hint of salt in the sweetness. The cake was a chocolate and it was so moist it was ALMOST mushy -- but it wasn't. I ordered another to 'take home to my husband' - aka eat it at home later before he even sees it. It was the bacon one, yes BACON cupcake. It, too, was amazing. It wasn't a paltry nod to bacon with bits crumbled on top of the frosting, it tasted like brown sugar and bacon throughout the entire cupcake. I am already planning my next trip to Hampton to hit this place up!

Ethereal cupcakes are amazing. My boyfriend and I stop but once a week and feed our cupcake addiction. I love the fact that they have gluten free and vegan options. The stadia very friendly and helpful. The only down side is they sell out of the popular flavors if you go to late in the evening.

I have enjoy their cupcakes. The menu changes daily so make sure to check their website before. I didn't one time and the cupcakes that were being offered that day did not fit my taste.

I came here for the first time with my family over the weekend. The customer service was excellent. We ordered six cupcakes and enjoyed one at the shoppe. My daughter and I shared the strawberry cupcake. The cake was moist and delicious - seriously one of the best I have ever had. The icing was a little too buttery for my liking, but, overall, I was pleased. We were definitely impressed with the friendly atmosphere and look forward to another visit.

Since this shop opened I have definitely been a frequent buyer. Their cupcakes are delicious. I have my favorite is the raspberry cheesecake, which unfortunately aren't made everyday so I have to really have a lucky day to get them. I can't possibly go as often as I'd like or I'd have to be towed around on a forklift. I have also discovered they make Italian Sodas which are yuuuuummmy! The coffee is strong just like I like it... I love how I'm greeted every time I walk in... If I could change one thing it would only be how long the line is when I go in. But alas it just goes to show that people will wait for the delicious goodness of baked goods.

Let me start by saying that I've never been a fan of cupcakes. I find them to be akin to eating sugar with a spoon. So when a friend recommended this cupcake place, I was hesitant. However, since they boast organic and all natural ingredients and thus a baked good that is not too sweet, I thought I'd give them a try! I am so glad I did! These cupcakes are baked to perfection! They are always moist, flavorful and topped with a cream that is always perfect in sweetness. They have Gourmet, Super Gourmet, and Alcohol infused varieties. Try the Bohemian Raspberry (akin to raspberry cheesecake) and the Holi Cannoli), you'll be glad you did! I am officially a cupcake person, an ETHEREAL CUPCAKE PERSON! .....And their coffee...its amazing. How many time have you been to a coffee shop and found the coffee burned or bitter? How many times have you felt that you could be drinking poison in a cup but continued to do so because you needed that extra pick me up? Never again with Ethereal's coffee! It goes down smooth! Never burnt and never bitter. No headaches or heartburn. It best coffee I have EVER had from a coffee shop! Goodbye poison in a cup! The coffee shop is cute. Cozy seating or tables and chairs. It is quite small however. Staff are super sweet. Always cheerful and always knowledgeable about the cupcakes. Perfect for date night, girls night, family fun or even if you just want to treat yourself. WIFI is free, I will thus be making it my study spot from time to time! One last thing, every Thursday, Ethereal's has a low cal cupcake! Hallelujah for calorie counters in Hampton Roads!

I am upgrading to five stars after visiting this establishment in person. The staff is super friendly and the cupcakes are definitely superb when they are fresh. Went yesterday and had the white chocolate pistachio. We asked the young man who was explaining their flavors the customers in line if they would have the cannoli cupcake today since it would be my last day in VA. He said he didn't think so but wasn't sure. Low and behold when we looked at today's menu it was there!! I was so excited! My cousin and I got dressed and immediately headed to Ethereal. Got home and had my cupcake for lunch. So glad I got an extra one (plus a couple more to take home). Can't wait to be able to visit again in person, but I will be having my cousin bring them when she comes to visit in the meantime.

Customer service here is excellent and attentive almost to the point of being too much. The cupcake selection and quality is good. I usually come for the red velvet cupcakes. The last time I came I ordered a red velvet. I took a picture of what they gave me...I ate it anyway.

While visiting my grandson for his 10th birthday (a big one), my son brought me here for breakfast and to pick up cupcakes for a birthday party. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who came around the counter and explained all the cupcakes available and coffees. It was a freezing cold morning and the warmth of the coffee and service was a great way to start the day. The restaurant is clean, clean, clean! The location is welcoming with a home-town feeling. I only wish I lived closer as I would visit often.

If there are two things I love in life it's cupcakes and alcohol. Thankfully Ethereal does a superb job combining the two. A few select favorites- Sports Fan (Beer and Salted Pretzel infused cupcake), the White Russian, and the Ahoy Captain (Spiced Rum and Rum Buttercream). All of their products be it the alcohol infused cupcakes or their nonalcoholic relations are made using organic ingredients. Which makes eating them all the more satisfying. Oh and don't forget about the coffee. Ditch the coffee and doughnuts and step your game up with the coffee and cupcakes. The cupcakes are alone enough to bring you back. Add the friendly/ knowledgeable staff to the relaxed-chill environment of Ethereal and you have yourself something special. Definitely worth checking out!

Tasty cakes are tasty. Everything is "organic" and "natural" and most of their stuff is vegan-friendly, if you care about that kind of crap. Even if you don't, they'll constantly remind you. Either way, their cupcakes are amazing. Also, they have good tea and coffee.

Ok, so I generally tend to be a lengthy reviewer, but for this one, there's not much to say but: *DELICIOUS* Tried their Manager's Special (Cream Cheese cupcake, with cream, drizzled with berry syrup) - to die for! Made 2 visit within a 3 day span to get a hold of their cupcakes! Cute place and atmosphere. Nice way of ending a long, hard day at work with a treat to yourself... Only small concern I had, which is a good concern for the business to have it, they were crowded and their lot isnt big enough to accommodate a large # of guests. Perhaps, one day, they'll upgrade to a bigger lot to accommodate more guests. :)

to address the reply, I may have come off as an a**, so for that, I apologize. Simply said, this place isn't for me. To address the gun issue, perhaps you missed the the whole debate on whether the mall can ban weapons; simply said, it cannot. It is up to the individual business. Ethereal Cupcakes never fails. The service is really great and they are so friendly! I don't go often, and they remember me every time I go back. They have all natural and organic cupcakes... and they taste DIVINE! Best cupcake they make, hands down, is the S'mores cupcake! I could eat a dozen of them! They have such a good selection of cupcakes so you can find something for anyone. Try their European drinking chocolate, too! Heaven in a cup :)

They sold us stale cupcakes. The cake was very hard and dry. It was like eating days old cornbread with fresh icing.

Hubby and I stopped by this place after having not so great experience at a restaurant in this shopping g center....anyway....I wanted to get the bad taste out of my mouth so hubby suggested we try this spot. Let me just tell uou...customer service was fantastic! He really knew his stuff and made some great recommendations. We opted for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail....it is an alcohol infused cupcake that is divine! So so so so so great!!!!!

I've since been back to Ethereal several times and while their customer service is TOP NOTCH (seriously - they are SO FRIENDLY and courteous!), I am often times underwhelmed by their cupcakes. I've had several that are just.... kind of OK. Not particularly special or perfectly executed. I'd like to see a couple more flavors daily, but I do appreciate the quality of ingredients they put into the flavors they do create - it's real fruits and other components, as opposed to just a flavor extract.

I have been a regular at ethereal for over a year now and love them so much. Theyre cupcakes are amazing and its great that the flavors change daily. They are pretty expensive and the employees that insist on you loving it there and reading you the menu can become a nuisance but overall its a great little place to taste something sweet. And they have vegan and gluten free options too which is great because my boyfriend is allergic to daory and very limited on desserts.

The bad experience here started when we were first walking in. An employee of this cupcake shop was holding the door open, but as me and my boyfriend approached the door the employee had shut it in our face which we thought was a little rude. Anyway, I convinced my boyfriend to come to this place only for both of us to be disappointed with the product. We ordered two cupcakes: one was a key lime pie one and the other was a strawberry and vanilla one. Both were very dry and the key lime pie was way too sweet. It's safe to say that we won't be returning.

My wife and I wanted coffee really badly after a long drive from D.C. to Virginia beach and on the search this cafe turned up. We were greeted by one of the guys at the cafe and when we asked for a vegan cupcake he described the details of a tropical flavor they had in store that day. The cupcake looked so good that we could hardly wait to get our hands on it. The base was that of a carrot cake and the topping was a tinge of vanilla pineapple and coconut! The flavors were perfectly blended in and even the cupcake base was not your usual chewy, less-sweet flavor like most vegan cupcakes are! The prices are reasonable for a fancy cupcake shop such as this one! If you are a cupcake lover this is a must stop shop for you!

After enjoying a satisfying meal at a nearby restaurant my friends and I decided to walk a couple of blocks and enjoy a cupcake at Ethereal for dessert. It was such a disappointment. They had sold out of most of the cupcakes and didn't seem to have much in stock to choose from. I got the most basic vanilla cupcake and it was not great. The texture was heavy and it was basically flavorless. At the time they had some sort of live spoken word/performance art event happening inside and it was way too loud. I couldn't hear what the server was saying. I couldn't wait to get out of there. It was 90 plus degrees outside and we opted to sit outdoors just to escape the noise. These were not talented people by any stretch of the imagination either. This was truly a let-down. If you want a great cupcake, you need to try Cupcakes and More in Newport News on Warwick Blvd.

I LOVE me some cupcakes. I will try them EVERYWHERE I go. They are pretty and girly (sorry, Men). So, I tried this place on a whim. Child and I waited 15 MINUTES to order and it wasn't even busy. I can tell that this is a new place and they still seem unorganized. I will say the man at the register was VERY nice and apologetic for the wait. Now, on to the cupcakes.....I had the velvet, vanilla bean, and ahoy mate. They all tasted the same. The cupcakes were a bit dry. I found the frosting to be very good, though. I'll give these guys a try again in a few months. They offer military discounts.

You're gonna love it here! Eh, okay guys don't be so sure of yourselves. I'll give this place a 2.5 rating because its not the worst place out there like Extraordinary Cupcakes in Williamsburg but definitely not the best. I prefer Cupcake Thursdays at Green Bean's in Ptown. I've been here a handful of times especially when it first opened up. I was so excited because I have an insatiable sweet tooth. The decor is very spacious and clean upon entrance and even in the restrooms. Ive never seen it dirty at all. The staff is overly friendly but have all been quite professional but I'm sure that's due to the Owner/Manager who I feel is always micromanaging them from what I've seen. I'm the type of customer who needs space and this establishment fails to understand that not everyone needs an entire schpeel of their cupcakes, I mean they do have display signs explaining the cupcakes for a reason right? It comes off as pushy and if you've been here a couple of times it becomes annoying. Now, the coffee is good and I've never had an issue. It beats other local places ( not that Hampton has many really...) but the cupcakes are a hit or miss. I like that they offer a daily vegan and gluten free selection, that's super thoughtful. However, it seems like they have the nastiest flavors for vegans like the orange one and chocolate one! According to their website they offer so much more but seem to usually have those two whenever I went. x.x. Now I do like their Resurrection chocolate and ebony and ivory gourmet cupcakes, those are great. My roommate is a fan of their bacon cupcake as well. However as of late I tried their nutella cupcake and their red velvet version both were undercooked and soggy on the inside, plus their red velvet wasn't really red but brown... Overall, this place isn't terrible but saying you'll love it is a far stretch. Word of advice for the owner go easy on the hard selling approach towards the customers and let them breathe. Be more lenient on the employees who looks super uncomfortable whenever he's around, customers shouldn't see you reprimanding your employees in public-thats distasteful. Focus on the quality and quantity of the products. This place has so much potential and if it wasn't for my good friend who drags me inside the store, I would have honestly stopped going here the first time around.

    (2)
  • Holly B.

The place has a nice decor. Very inviting until you enter the building. Once you enter you are bombarded by employees and owners basically smothering you to the point of not wanting to buy anything. Not only that the man managing or I'm assuming the owner treats his employees horrible from what I have witnessed. He talks down to them in front of customers and reprimands them in public which is extremely distasteful. I would never recommend anyone going there or especially working there. You may have decent cupcakes but there really aren't anything special. And I would never give money to an establishment that treats others so horribly.

This corner organic cupcake shop is a perfect stop for Christmas shopping. The manger as was all the staff were very friendly and informative on their cupcakes and cakes. We tried the Etoh infused cupcakes for the day and unlike the other places I've tried in Hampton Roads they weren't dry! This place is a clean happy place with great cupcakes and options for all your friends from alcohol infused, vegan and more, 5 Stars.

I visited a couple of months back and will not be going back. My 5 year old wanted a Red Velvet Cupcake so that is what I ordered. He took one bite and said "I'm finished you can eat it." His principal complaint was his cupcake was not Red. He summed it up like this "I asked for Red Velvet and they gave me brown." In addition to not being red it was not good. The icing melted off the cupcake while we were eating it. If it was Cream Cheese Frosting you could not tell. The icing almost looked like it had table sugar in it instead of pure Confectioner's Sugar. If the cupcake had been super delicious I could have overlooked the icing (not a huge icing fan). But the cupcake was not delicious. It was dry. I think the cupcake movement currently underway in this area is fun. I love little cakes that you don't have to share. But I will stick to the southside for my cupcake capers.

The cupcakes are delicious! I walked past the store a few times then decided to check it out. I had the carrot cake and it was so moist and tasty! Recommend if you're in the area to stop by. The prices are reasonable and the customer service was excellent. I will definitely be back!

  • Kenny-Delia D.

Picked up a variety of cupcakes for my wife's birthday and while the cupcakes themselves were just fine, the icing tasted exactly like room temperature, unsalted butter. There was no sweetness, no flavoring, no nothing. Just room temperature butter piled on top of our cupcakes. It was pretty gross. My hope is that this was some kind of fluke but we probably won't be back to find out.

I know they have responded to others defending their customer service technique but I felt uncomfortable and won't return because of it. I like friendly people as much as the next person but I felt chased around by several employees trying to explain things to me. Not my scene.

  • Justeen K.

The cupcakes here are just okay. The cakes are moist and flavorful, but the frosting is seriously lacking. It's waaay too buttery, and not fluffy at all, with not nearly enough sugar. The buttercream tastes and feels like eating a stick of softened butter. And the cream cheese frosting doesn't taste like cream cheese at all! Also, I don't like how the employees come to the other side of the counter to stand next to you, explain every single cupcake flavor they have that day, and continue to stand next to you until you've made your order. This happened to me both times I went to this cupcake shop, and while I'm sure it's mean to be helpful, I found it quite obnoxious!

  • Cathy B.

I got three cupcakes. They were fresh from the back and they put fresh icing on them while I was there. That's special. A fresh baked and iced cupcake with quality ingredients for $2.95 really is a bargain in my world. I got three cupcakes for $10. The DC Georgetown Cupcake is fifteen minutes from my house so the prices here at Ethereal didn't shock me. I got the cheesecake which is out of this world good-- moist and my favorite of the three. The thing is, it's pretty much a tiny cheesecake. There's no cupcake/cake to it. Still it's a great order. The cupcake of the day is Boston cream and it's pretty forgettable. It was freshly made but it wasn't that moist. The cream part was also pretty stingy. I had called a couple days ago asking when the next red velvet day was and timed my trip for this one cupcake. Red velvet is personally my favorite dessert! The name of their cupcake is "REDiculous". With the emphasis on "red", I was so confused pulling back the liner seeing a black bottom. I know red velvet can be red-brown but this was completely black. The whole point of red velvet is dyeing it to be red. I know it's an all natural bakery, but if it's not red for that reason, then call it a chocolate cupcake with cream cheese icing. When I bit into it I could taste the cocoa and the icing had a really subtle cream cheese taste to it. The icing isn't cheesy enough for me. I don't have plans to go back for their red velvet. I'm definitely a big fan of the cheesecake, the quality ingredients they're using, offering vegan cupcakes, and their customer service. When I got greeted I got a spiel. For me I don't need a presentation on a cupcake. It's a tiny cake that can speak for itself: if it's good, it's good. I know the all natural ingredients are what set it apart from other dessert spots in town and that's part of the spiel but I think the angle they should be working is that's it's the only cupcake joint at Peninsula. It's cupcakes that are trending with the reality shows, bookshelves filled with cupcake pictures and recipes, and even jewelry. That's the trend here-- not all natural ingredients. Yes, that's important and amazing, but I don't know of any vegan or organic restaurants in Hampton so I'm not quite sure it's part of the culture here... yet. Sugar however most definitely is! I'll definitely be back cause I'm a fan of what they're bringing to Hampton. I'm excited to try the salted caramel and creme brûlée. And I want a dozen of the cream cheese!

Just came home with 4 cupcakes. 2 Strawberry Fields, 1Salted Caramel,1 Gourmet Chocolate. The service was poor we waited in line ( only one register) and most of the case was empty. The owner did come down the line and introduced himself ,he explained the selection. The bigger disappointment was when I got home and peeled off the wrapper. I was obvious the cupcake was dry. Sure enough with the first bite , eh. The frosting on my Gourmet Chocolate cupcake was creamy, rich ,chocolaty; but the cake was dry ,dry. Did I mention the cake was dry???? Not really worth the almost $3.00 per cupcake.

Awesome cupcakes! The "Ships Ahoy" is especially yummy!!! "You da Ma'am" is a great choice if you want a cupcake that isn't overly sweet. Excellent customer service and a good selection. Different choices each day! All natural ingredients! You can really taste the butter in their buttercream icing. Delicious!!! As for the other review that claimed the cupcake was "rock hard"...ridiculous! They are as fresh as they can be and some cupcakes are actually frosted when you order!

Good cupcakes. Fair service. Not enough people working to serve when the lines back up. I ordered two cupcakes and one latte. The same person working as a cashier and who took my order served the cupcakes. Had to ask for forks and napkins. Then, we waited. And waited. The cashier continued to take other orders. And I waited. Periodically, he would say, "I haven't forgotten....be right with you." Our cupcakes were long gone before the latte ever came to the table. Again, cupcakes are good -- but be very careful about stopping in if it's busy. You may wait a long time to be served.

I keep coming back time after time and they continually wow me with their cupcakes! New favorites are "Oh Yeah You Know What Time It Is" (chocolate cupcake, whipped cream filling and chocolate ganache on top!) and the Almond Coconut one. You have to go!

The three times I have gone here I had an amazing experience. The personnel are very cordial and enthusiastic in their customer service. The coffee is better than any Starbucks; smooth without a burnt taste. The cupcakes are gorgeous and rich in taste. Unfortunately, I was only able to eat half before going into a sweet coma :)

I knew the owners of this establishment cared about the product they sell and the customer experience during my first visit. I was approached by a young man who asked me whether or not I've been in before. I told him no and he proceeded to give me the 411 on the cupcake selection they had that day. On the surface, a cupcake looks like a cupcake. But if you take a good look into the different cupcakes and the ingredients that go into them, you'll see that they are not like other cupcakes. No box cake mixes here. They even have the ingredients that are included in each cake under the name plates in the display case. I've probably had at least 15 different cupcakes from ethereal since they opened. You can taste the freshness in every bite. One day I walked in and picked up a few cupcakes for the family and the owner mentioned that they also have a breakfast cupcake that I need to try. So I returned the next day before work and picked up this cupcake that had a taste of pancakes, with a maple flavored frosting and topped with bacon. BACON! Besides that flavor town favorite, there are several other cakes including one of their cheesecake selections that are certified winners. These aren't the .50 cakes you'll find in farm fresh. These cakes will run you about 3 bucks a pop. But the quality and selection is well worth it. Treat yourself to a ethereal cupcake, you'll enjoy the experience.

I live in the area. So this is a nice place to grab some coffee and cupcake in the morning and evening. Especially if you need a break from shopping, you can get a quick sugar rush from the thickness of the frosting. Staff is friendly and they have free WiFi for this that like to bring their gadgets and do whatever people do. Live music at night make this a laid back evening social event with a small group or a date.

Maybe I went on an off day but the cupcakes were the worst I have ever had. I got three different cupcakes all were dry and hard. My red velvet was brown and lacked any flavor. Service is pretty slow and we were the only two in the shop at the time. Service is friendly and helpful and the coffee is pretty good. Im reading the other glowing reviews so maybe we went on an off day. I will return, hopefully the cupcakes will be better.

So, I have been here twice now and my opinion hasn't changed. This place is absolutely amazing. The staff is so involved and obviously knowledgable. The coffee was the best I have ever had. Usually when I order coffee, they don't get it sweet enough for me. This place did it perfectly on the first try! It was immediately obvious that they care about the product they are putting out. The barista messed up my foam a little bit and wanted to remake the entire cup. I didn't let them, but it was nice to know that the details are so important to them. I had the cheesecake cupcake both times and both times it was amazing. I also had the salted caramel which was absolutely perfect. I really highly recommend this place. I doubt you can go wrong with any of the flavors.

I love this place!!!! I consider myself to be a cupcake snob, but Ethereal always exceeds my expectations. The cake is light and fluffy, and the frosting is melt-in-your-mouth decadent. Best of all, it doesn't feel like it weighs you down after eating. The staff is so incredibly friendly, and Mr. Loranzo (as I like to call him) does everything he can to make the clientele feel at home. If you're at Peninsula Towne Centre, you can't skip this amazing place!

I love trying cupcake places, and I really wanted to love this one. But I have a couple issues: I just wanted to quickly grab cupcakes. I'm not sure why I was ambushed as soon as I walked in and literally given every single detail about every cupcake and the shop itself. I appreciate that the staff was friendly, but it was a little much! The cupcakes were good. I tried a few different ones, and some were better than others. I'm always nervous when a store has a million different flavors; I feel like I'll always get a mixed batch instead of all of them being great. I just don't need that much variety. Overall, the presentation was nice, though, and the store has a nice atmosphere. No matter what else I liked or disliked, though, here's the bottom line: a cupcake is not worth 4 dollars. I thought other area places charging 3 was a lot (and this place also has some for $3), but 4 dollars for a couple bites? Too much.

I love that they change the menu daily, and I love the fact that you can't have a weapon in the store if you need a gun to buy cupcakes then i don't know how to finish that lol. My favorite is the S'mores and the Tiramisu and the banana punning! I'm going to try to apple pie one today!

This post is about 3 weeks late, but still worth sharing. My wife and I had just finished a wonderful dinner with friends next door at Monsoon, and we wanted to end the night with something sweet. We were warmly welcomed by a gracious staff and we were blown away by how well they knew their cupcake descriptions and ingredients. There were too many great looking choices so we simplified things by ordering a half dozen. We didn't want to wait to get home to sample them, so I ordered a latte and we opened the box. All I can say is WOW! I'm normally not a cupcake fan as I tend to think they are typically drier than regular full sized gourmet cakes. These cupcakes were fantastic! I didn't really understand the differences between the gourmet and super gourmet (marketing upsell?), but virtually all the cupcakes were moist, tender and delicious! The staff had problem with the latte machine and it was just ok. Overall, exceptional experience - we will repeat!
