Seriously, the best barbeque anywhere. The corn muffins and butter are ridiculously delicious and addictive. They make amazing brisket that is both smokey and juicy. Hard to do this. You like barbeque? Do yourself a favor and stop in here.

Seriously this place has gone downhill. I used to LOVE County Grill back in the day but as of late the food has been horrible. On my most recebt visit the ribs were super old, very old, dry and hard/tough probably from being so old and being reheated. The ribs were literally favorless outside of the sauce. No tender juicy fall off the bone meat from days of old. Pulled pork was bland and watery and the service SUCKED. I won't be returning.

Delicious pulled pork and chicken from this restaurant. We were visiting the Hampton Roads area and this was recommended to us by some locals. It's in an odd location, but the food and service made up for it. They have a variety of sauces to try that are based on the recipes in different cities. The fries and mashed potatoes were tasty as well and my girlfriend really liked their potato salad. Not bad for a local BBQ joint in a city not really known for barbecue! We were recommended to try the Kit Kat Cheesecake. We had no room left after dinner, but they convinced us to take it home in a doggy bag. Had it for breakfast the next morning. It was amazing. Destiny, our server, was awesome. Definitely will return next time we're in Hampton.

Heard from more than a few people about this one and decided to check it out. It wasn't out-of-this-world, but there were a lot of good points, especially for a sit down place in Hampton. My brisket sandwich was gigantic! Excellent flavor and I couldn't even finish it all. It was still good reheated. Sausages were wonderful as well and they had no problem doing substitutions. Very reasonable prices. Nice assortment of bbq sauces on the table, and cornbread muffin baskets keep coming. Maybe we came in at a weird hour between lunch and dinner, but my whole party agreed that it felt like the waitress was rushing us the entire time.

I was in the area and yelp led me to this bbq gem. Greeted at the door by a energetic hostess and the smell of bbq cooking on a grill. I ordered the ribs and chicken combo and was not disappointed. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, I never even reached for one of the six sauces that were staged on the table. The ribs and side items were so plentiful I ended up taking the chicken home untouched.

The food here was really good and I really enjoyed the corn muffins and honey butter. You really have to like meat and especially pork or beef but there were a few turkey and chicken options. There's also a nice sitting area outside the establishment which is great for kids. Good stuff!

Love this place. We never had a bad meal when we have eaten here. And we come here a lot. The staff is always nice and the brisket is so yummy!

Not gonna lie, being from South Georgia... I know BARBECUE. And, so does County Grill & Smokehouse. You know it's going to be good eats when you have to park in the grass. Right as you walk in, you're greeted by genuine smiling faces. Not some teenager faking the funk because their boss told them to appear happy. If you're just stopping in for a good time, check out the bar area. It can be noisy, but what bar isn't? Also, be sure to stop in on a Wednesday to check out beer specials. But, you absolutely positively must go on Thursday and order "The Whole Pit". $&)@ that plate is huge and delicious. Especially the sausage and smoked turkey. Any sides you order will be tasty. By all means, partake in an overflowing basket of corn muffins. You know what, enough typing... time to grub. County Grill and Smokehouse. Don't meet me there, beat me there.

Great service. Great Bbq. Staff was excellent from the manger on down. We are not from the area, but if we were (and when we visit) would definitely return.

Every time I have come to this location the staff have been extremely friendly and accommodating. I came on a random night when the place was actually swamped and they pretty much ran out of everything by the time I ordered. The wait staff was great and I still got a delicious meal- St. Louis style ribs. Can't get enough of the Savannah style BBQ sauce or the cornbread. The roasted veggies are one of their best sides. Not kidding

Was pleasantly surprised how good the BBQ was here. Loved the beef brisket and the pulled pork. The different house made sauces were all delicious. Visiting from Up north but would love to return!

I am not your biggest fan of barbecue but when I think of barbecue, County Grill comes to mind. When you walk in, the aroma of the slow cooked meat immediately fills your nostrils and sparks your interest of the amazing smell. The pork shoulder is beyond delicious and they offer many different sauces to choose from. I don't have a favorite so I end up placing a little bit of each one all over my plate. The corn muffins are so delicious and since they come before your meal, you will be tempted to fill up on them. The service has always been the best and you can choose to sit on the more family-oriented side or the side with the bar. Its an all-around great place and I would recommend it to anyone!

We finally made it to County Grill! It's been on my list for a long time and the special offer for Hampton Restaurant Week made it so we had no excuse but to go. First off, the service was great - the server was very attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome. He was also patient and answered all our questions. The food came out fast. Now for the food. Everything was mostly really good. I'm not sure I would order the onion rings again. The outside was crunchy, but the onions themselves were kind of mushy. I'm not usually a fan of crinkle fries, but these were good - I liked the seasoning and they were nice and crispy. The server talked us into trying the warm potato salad. I was a little skeptical at first, but I'm glad we got it. It's really just like loaded lumpy mashed potatoes...sort of. I don't know, just try it, you probably won't regret it. And the BBQ...it was tasty! We tried the brisket, 1/2 chicken, and pulled pork. Of the three, we decided the brisket was the best. Super tender. I also loved trying all the different sauces. Nice choice of beers on draft. So many food options I want to come back and try. Overall, everything was good. Better than other BBQ I've had in the area and I'll likely be back sooner rather than later.

Atmosphere: This is odd. It has an older lodge kinda feel dinning room but like 90's/00 rock playing. Service: Fantastic she was attentive without being overbearing. Plus she was really nice. Her name was Ronica. Food: I had BBQ wings with buffalo sauce, brisket plate with greens and warm potato salad, and coconut cream pie. I had to take half home so I could eat my pie. Hands down the best wings I have had in about 6 months. They are fire grilled then fried. Brisket was good had a little give to it. Good smoke ring. Greens were a vinegar based and we're fantastic. Warm potato salad. This is like loaded mashed potatoes. Coconut cream pie was homeade and fantastic. I would come back here again and would recommend them.

My family and I had dinner there on Aug 22nd. We were quickly seated and served warm corn muffins which were absolutely delicious and mouth-watering. There were four of us so we ordered two of the Smokehouse combos which easily serves two people per dish. The combo consisted of pulled pork, sausage and a half rack of ribs. You select two sides with each entree. I ordered collards, fries and baked beans for sides. I had a beer which was similar to Blue Moon (they don't have Blue Moon), it was on draft and pretty good. The kids had iced tea, root beer and lemonade. The meats were tender. They offer six or seven different BBQ sauces you can try like East Carolina, Texas, Memphis, and Savanah style just to name a few. My fave was the Savanah sauce. I wish this place was near where I live because we would be regulars! This is a great place for barbecue!

Today we had the perfect experience. I was really hungry because unexpected events made this was my first meal of the day (3 pm!) I ordered the Star-Spangled Banner combo which came with ribs, chicken, and brisket. My hubby ordered the brisket dinner. Everything was delicious! All of the meat fell off the bones and was very tender and the corn muffins were fresh and hot out the oven. We had more than enough food and I'm looking forward to the leftovers too! Our waitress Amber was knowledgeable and friendly. She helped us pick out which beers would be the best from their extensive list of craft draft beers and she also suggested sauces that would go well with the barbecue that we ordered. I would ask for Amber because she is an a gem of a person. Overall, it was a great experience.

Husband and I were out looking for a local restaurant while we were in town. After having mediocre BBQ at Busch Gardens (we didn't have many options we cared for at BG) this place was a breath of fresh air! The entrance is a little confusing for those who haven't been, no one was waiting and we almost were left to assume to seat ourselves, but waited. A hostess showed up and asked us to wait a minute as she found an appropriate seat. The owner of the facility approached us, welcomed us to his Restaurant, to enjoy, and if we needed anything... Flag him down. Very nice gentleman. The hostess/server returned and took us to be sat. A table she assumed was clean... Wasn't. But we were happy with the location so we told her we were fine with waiting. She seemed a bit overwhelmed, distressed, and almost borderline "I don't want to be here" as she tried to figure out what she was going to do. Even after our sympathy and patience that it wasn't a big deal, we'd happily wait for the table to be cleaned. She returned with the means to clean the table and sat us. We had plenty of time to look over the menu before our waitress got to us. Waitress was attentive and offered plenty of information on a local draft and the menu. I ordered the half-rack baby with fries and beans. My husband ordered a double meat with shredded pork and pork sausage with beans (I can't remember his other side). Our food was out almost instantly and smelled incredible and the ribs looked quite impressive! The fries were served in a mini-fryer basket, which I found quite clever. The ribs were pretty darn good! They were mildly tough, but not even a smidge dry and the BBQ sauce was impressive. A true "finger licking good" kind of BBQ. I thoroughly enjoyed them. The fries were good and crunchy and of decent size. The beans were also good with pieces of meat and a great smokey flavor. My husband enjoyed his pulled pork very much and the sausage. Corn bread biscuits were delicious too! My only complaint was our waitress would barely linger at our table whenever she asked "How are things" she barely waited long enough to receive an answer. Which we found slightly rude and inconvenient when we actually did need something. My husband had to call her back to get a refill on my drink as she did just as described. She was still pleasant and when she did stay at the table long enough to exchange a few words that were only necessary. I don't expect a bustling place such as this that would allow the waitresses to conversate, but asking a question and not waiting for an answer was a bit annoying. If we find out selves in Hampton again we will gladly return to this BBQ place, we really enjoyed ourselves!

We typically get carryout from the Hampton location. We have our favorites on the menu that we keep going back to, like the Ribeye, the Prime Rib Special, the Star Spangled Banner Combo, and the half-chicken. The food really is delicious, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The carryout service has gone down hill ever since they remodeled the little vestibule. There used to be a guy that answered the phone & took the carryout orders most days that we ordered, and we NEVER had problems with our orders then. Even if we just dropped by to place an order & sat there & waited. He was friendly, chatted you up, and it felt like he remembered you & you were seeing an old friend whenever you came to pick up your food. He always checked to make sure your food was right. Now, you'd better not leave before checking the entire bag, even the cups of sauce & dressing, because something always goes wrong...like the time they gave me a bag with all sides & no meat for a Star Spangled Banner combo. Or the time they gave me no dressing for a dinner salad. There's never a mention of a refund, just "come on back & we'll have it ready." Then they started the curb side pick up, which you should never use. This time they brought the food out on time ( instead of 20 minutes later than promised) & the order was correct and took my card inside to run it. After 15 minutes of frustration I got out to see why they had disappeared with my card. The server met me at the door with the receipt to sign saying they were waiting for my food to come up. This is the same server that brought me my food 15 minutes earlier & saw me check it for accuracy. I had to remind him that he already gave me my food & I wanted him to stop holding my card hostage. Now I want my bank to issue a new card because I feel like he was in there doing something improper with my card. No one forgets that quickly that they've already delivered a meal dude. After messing with my credit card, I'm NEVER going back to this location again. I'll drive all the way to Yorktown if I just have to have County Grill, but I seriously doubt if they'll be getting my business anymore, and even though I normally recommend them to people, I won't be recommending them again.

Good brisket, yummy potato salad, fantastic wings! Great staff, Justin was my bartender and he was very attentive! My drink was never empty and I always had everything I needed. I'm a chef in the area and I I'll recommend everyone for BBQ and wing to this place! Night five guys! I would not mind at all driving from Norfolk to eat here. I love the BBQ sauces in bottles too. The Memphis is my favorite.

Cornbread is so damn good. That smoked sausage will have you questioning your manhood. Lots of beers on tap.

The food is amazing and their beer list is on point, however the service here is AWFUL!! It was so bad that the people sitting behind us got up and left after 15 minutes of sitting there waiting for someone to take there order! It's such a same because the food is so good!!

Best bbq in the area!! The wings or the secret tumbleweed sandwich are my favorites! You gotta try them, you will not be disappointed. Ooo and the cornbread!!

Sigh. I've had many 5 star experiences back in the day. There were several days of food comas and nasty burps that tasted better than my meal itself. My recent visit to the Yorktown location was phenomenal. The one tonight? Ehhh. I trust this place to go back but I just didn't feel it tonight. The butter was a little tough in texture. I'm sure that's normal but after having it so soft and delicious at my previous visit it is so hard to have something that is normal. I ordered the BBQ combo for dinner. Massive amounts of food. Pulled pork, beef brisket and 1/2 a smoked chicken. - Pulled pork - fatty pieces were delicious. If it wasn't fat it was on the dry side. - Beef brisket - there were three slabs. One was tender and juicy. The other two were dry. - 1/2 chicken - the outside was good but once you got into the chicken it was really dry I've always had great experiences in the past so I'll chalk this visit up to an off day but it'll be some time before I go back. Each bite was hit or miss. I'll push this up to 2.5 stars.

I stopped by this place after searching for somewhere to eat bbq going home from virginia beach. The cornbread with butter that came out first were absolutely amazing. The pulled pork bbq I got was delicious with the provided sauces. The dine in part was so impressive as my waitress came by 4 times to ask if everything was okay as well as to offer more cornbread. I would definitely recommend this place to others 100% and hope to come back soon when I'm in the area!

We visited this place for dinner tonight. The road to reach it was tricky but I was impressed by how crowded the parking lot was when I reached the place. We were planning to order takeout and the hostess was friendly in helping us with the menu and ordering process. The inside of the restaurant was indeed crowded but there was no wait for us to place or order. Our order came out no later than 10 minutes later. Our order was a sample of 3 different meats. We really liked the rack of ribs and the brisket but the half chicken could use a bit more flavor on the inside. Still, I would recommend this place.

This place is seriously amazing. I moved up to the area about 7 months ago and am bummed that I didn't know about this place sooner. As soon as we sat down, our waitress came over and quickly got our drinks and corn muffins. Being from Alabama, I know my dang corn muffins. And these things felt like home. I ate 6. As an appetizer, we went for the nachos, which had amazing chilli on them. So if you're a chili lover, definitely try them. Our meals came out super fast and were HUGE. I could barely eat a half rack of the baby back ribs, which were probbbbbably the best ribs Id ever had in my life. The barbecue sauce on them was the perfect mixture of sweet and spicy. The waitress helped us box our left overs (there is enough for a whole nother meal) and then sold us on dessert. You will definitely leave this place completely stuffed.

Awesome food! Got the combo the other day, that has the 1/2 chicken, brisket, and half rack ribs with French fries and onion rings as our sides. We also got the baked beans and potato salad as a side because we wanted to try that as well. As far as customer service goes, our first waitress was inattentive and ignored us when we tried to get her attention...but everybody has a bad day, and maybe she just had a lot on her mind... once I asked the hostess if we could switch waitresses, the customer service was much better and she definitely got our 30% tip!

This is great place with great food. All the food is smoked..pork, briskets, burgers, chicken, steak, ribs, shrimp and salads etc. The service is always welcoming and helpful with the menu items. There is a full bar however this place has the second best rum runners in town first is Harpoon Larry's also owned and operated by the same owner (2 of these is the recommended limit) Enjoy the evening and be prepared to eat.

  • David H.

I normally always have a good meal at this place, but this time was not the greatest. Mainly because of a loud group function and they would stand right by your table. The wings for some reason we're dry and over cooked. Brisket was not as juicy as it normally is.

Do NOT eat here I brought my whole family here for 4th of July weekend & everyone got food poisoning... We were all very sick. Everyone had some type of pork dish. I don't think they are be carful in their back kitchen. This could have been cause by poor refrigeration, cross contamination, and just all around lack of hygiene with the entire staff in the kitchen. Very disappointed I wasted my money there. Very upset my family got sick, and extremely mad at their disregard for public health.

Atmosphere: Ha, nowadays with children I'm surprised when I even motice these things. Honestly, it's not much to Food: FINALLY! A BBQ in the area that serves great beef BBQ. Combine that with a choice of six different regional BBQ sauces to enjoy and this I jave been won over! Service: Waiter was great. Probably because he's from my home area. Overall: Loved it! Cant wait to go there againz

If I could go e more than 5 stars I would. I came here about 6 years ago when I was a kid. I decided to go last night and took my fiancee with me. He loved it!!!! The weight staff was pretty quick with everything and their pork ribs are to die for!!!

This is our favorite BBQ/southern place in Hampton roads so far! My husband LOVES it. They have 6 types of homemade BBQ sauce on the table which makes the experience fun and different each time. The warm potato salad is awesome as a side and the ribs fall right off the bone. I tried the ribeye and BBQ shrimp special which was really good! Baked beans and cole slaw were the only things we had that weren't great.

  • Tsuru J.

This is prob our fav bbq place in Hampton Roads. The brisket is great, the bbq is great. The wings... OMG the wings are great. The sausage is really good and the selection of sauces is extensive. If you get on the "bar side" it can get a little noisy if there is a band playing or a lot of drunk AF guys (experienced both). Overall, the food's really great.

Food was good and served quickly. Nothing that particularly sticks out. Beer list was just ok. They serve corn muffins to all tables after you order which were very good.

I was pleasantly surprised at this great restaurant in hampton! I had chicken there that was so tender and the sauces they have there are so delecious! I also got the warm potato salad which was a side dish..it was amazing!! My husband got the pulled pork which he said was very tasty! Best BBQ place around!

  • Ryan R.

The food is really good. Their beef briskets are so flavorful. Side items are made fresh and seasoned well. In addition to the great food the staff really adds to the experience. They're nice and friendly and have always had a positive attitude every time my wife and I have been there. They have a good balance between checking in with you during your meal without being so in-your-face about it. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Could be 5 star with better ambiance. The décor just needs help. Its not terrible but I do not feel real comfortable in the dining area. The Bar side is fine. The Collard Greens are FAB and the plain pork bbq sandwich (sauces on the side) are the best! I love their smoked meat. mmmmmm. Food is fast and generally the staff are friendly and happy however they do like to chat amongst themselves and I have to retrieve them with "the look" :-)

My friend had been raving about their menu for about 4 months now- so we decided to take a random study break and spend it here! Ambiance- my friend says it looks like a dungeon- i say a basement of a church-- same thing? ( jk church goers). I really liked it- it looks like a old school tavern with a 56 inch plasma flat screen tv. As you enter, theres a bar on the right side with a fire place. Food- I got the buffalo wings appy as a meal- it came with 10 wings - it was good enough for me to eat solo- or to share as an appy. THe wings had enough meat on them ( a little less than at buffalo wild wings though) & they are apparently marinated, smoked for 6 hrs and then fried. Only downside- i wish they were not fried. Im sure they could have just gotten away with them being smoked smothered in sauce. I also got a side of fresh fries- 'turn your mouth into a sauna' fresh- paired with their buffalo sauce= heaven! Their sauce is more watery than im used to- but it was seasoned so well. I over ate- just so i could eat more buffalo sauce. The table had a selection of 6 diff types of sauces- which made for great playmates with our crinkled fries .We got a pint of angry orchard : 5$ ; Well drinks were 2.50 5-9pm I believe. Thursday was "make your own combo" special with 2 meat for 15.99 , 3 meats for 18.99 ( i believe these exclude the chicken and something else that i cant recall) Why 4 and not 5 stars? - There is a dearth of selection on the menu. Also, i was disappointed at the lack of healthy options. Besides the marinated chicken breast & salad- nothing else looked healthy ( i can get marinated chicken and salad anywhere else) Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Joshua was our server and he was extremely attentive. He did not read us the specials- but thats ok- it was written on the blackboard by the entrance. I will have to return to try their infamous banana pudding and their stuffed shrimp next time!

Everytime I've eaten here, it's been delicious. Our most recent visit was last week. We sat at a large, wooden table by the fireplace. We had plenty of people space which I really love. The table had a long paper on it with our server's name (Taylor). The little one with us was able to color throughout the meal and keep occupied and was even brought more paper when he ran out. I ordered the shrimp dinner - I can't remember the name of it off hand- but it was yummy. On skewers and just yummy. Everyone at our table loved their meal - barely any leftovers. Our server was great. We will definitely be back!

I got the plate with chicken, ribs and brisket. Almost $30. The chicken wasn't bad, but the ribs and brisket were so dry my husband and I couldn't eat it even soaked in BBQ sauce. We won't be returning.

I went to the county grill with the friends tonight (6/16/15) for a little reunion dinner. We asked for a table (vice a booth) and got placed in the bar next to the exit door. After several minutes the server came to take our drink orders. She told us of the daily special (wing night) and went away. We didn't see her or our drinks for 10-15 minutes. When she brought our drinks, one of the four orders was wrong. Once that was straight, she took our order. The food came. It was good. Really good. The one redeeming quality of this visit. At one point, the server came out and made an apology since they forgot to cook our wings. Seriously? It's wing night. I'm giving this visit 3 stars ONLY because the brisket was awesome. However, I will not go here again because of the service. I can get great brisket elsewhere.

I had been wanting to try this place to curb an unusually potent meat craving for a few weeks, and thus, a friend and I took our lunch break there. I had the Beef Brisket. It was great, well flavored and ample in amount for me. My meal came with two sides. I asked for mashed potatoes with gravy and coleslaw. Both were delicious. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and tasty, the gravy was flavorful and the coleslaw was not overloaded with mayo. I was, however, disappointed in the meat: side ratio. The sides, including the gravy, were way too small. Woodchuck to drink, was a-ok. Also the slaw and mashed potatoes are premixed so you cannot customize with no butter/margarine for the potatoes or less mayo in the slaw. Luckily the slaw did not need customization. As for our service, besides the fact that our waiter did not know the specials for the evening, he did a fine job. He checked on us often and even recommended and brought us two samples of a peanut butter beer (which was ok but I will stick to my Woodchuck). The hostess did not know the specials either. She was eh. Maybe a bad day? The aura of the place is sort of dungeon-like in my opinion but that is the bar side and I was alone in that opinion as my friend liked it. To each his own :). The dining area looks nice and I believe flaunts a fireplace. That is more my scene. When we went in the establishment was empty but as we were leaving, people were just piling in. Overall, food had great flavor but may be slightly less than adequate for some. Dining area over bar for seating. Enjoy!

Went here for dinner last night on my cousin's recommendation. Service was great and the food was delish. She got the pulled pork sandwich and I got the BBQ combo. The cornbread was moist and tasty. My cousin inhaled her sandwich. My dinner was huge, 2 nice slices of tender brisket, a pile of pulled pork, half of a chicken, french fries and BBQ baked beans. Everything was very good, and the baked beans were fantastic! I didn't really love any of their sauces but they weren't bad and the meat didn't really need sauce anyway. Prices were good for quality and quantity of food. Would definitely visit again.

Fun fact: Did you know that a large contributing factor to climate change is cow and pig farts? It's true. These disgusting animals have no concern for this planet and go about willy nilly blasting noxious fumes all over our planet. Let's join County Grill in their campaign to wipe out these deplorable animals. Being good stewards of our little blue rock, nothing must go to waste. That means we have to eat these malevolent, yet tasty creatures en masse. The noble, albeit stupid, poultry that has gotten mixed up in this whole affair decided long ago to side with the beasts. Much like those angels who threw their lot in with Lucifer, they have been cast out. Feel no pity for them, for they have made their bed. Now they must lie in it.

Very good BBQ. Service was awesome. The only complaint I have is that one of the male servers was walking around with his pants half way up. Very unprofessional. Management needs to make sure the employees are presentable to customers.

Really good barbecue. I had the pick 2 combo which I did not see on the menu but the waitress told me about it. I had half a chicken and the beef brisket. I will visit here again.

The food was delicious!!! I have been looking for a great BBQ joint in the area, and I got lucky when I stopped in here! The corn muffins were so good that I could've just eaten them instead of my brisket sandwich. (Glad I didn't do that though!). The muffins reminded me of Sunday dinner at my grandma's house eating corn pone.

Food is awesome. Loved the brisket and warm potato salad. Staff couldn't have been friendlier. Will definitely visit again. And VERY COOL T-SHIRTS.....

They still do the "tapped out" Wednesdays, but now it's $2 from 5-7 and they've limited the beers that qualify. Basically all the good ones aren't on the list anymore. Food is still good and you're still getting beer for $2...just isn't the same as it used to be.

One 'Food Coma" wasn't enough. I had to do it again... On my second visit to the County Grill five of the people from my first visit were in attendance. This was a birthday dinner of sorts and everyone ordered something different from the previous visit, so I have a lot more pictures to show you at the end of the review. On this visit we were seated in the bar at a round top table under the giant elk head on the wall. We started off with 2 appetizers as well as an endless supply of mini corn bread biscuits. The apps were Wings and Potato Boats. Both of these apps are unique and have a County Grill twist on them. The wings are smoked, grilled and then doused in the house buffalo wing sauce. The taste is truly unique and they are one of kind and excellent. The same goes for the Potato Boats. These are potato skins on roids. They start out with the same basis, bacon, green onion, cheddar cheese but then the CG adds smoked BBQ beans & smoked beef brisket to the mix. You could make a meal out of these alone. So good.... Now for the entree's. If you read my reviews you know I'm a burger guy, so I went for the County Grill Burger. Good lord CG delivers. This includes a pit grilled burger basted with the house BBQ sauce & topped with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and fresh mushrooms. The crinkle cut fries come on the side in a mini fry basket and house slaw. This burger is gigantic and delicious. Very cool and darned filling to say the least. Other entree's at the table included the Cape Cobb Salad which includes BBQ skewered shrimp. A large Ribeye steak platter w/ baked potato. Smokehouse Quesadillas (which are an app but big enough to be a meal) and a BBQ Combo which includes pulled pork, beef brisket and smoked chicken breast. Everyone loved their food and the portions are huge. Most of us took food home. If you want some darn find southern home cooking you need to try this place out. Skip lunch that day and bring an appetite. You won't regret it.

This place is very authentic, great atmosphere, smells wonderful in there, and the food is delicious. The day I went for lunch there with my co workers, I had the County Grill salad. It was loaded with greens, grilled chicken beast, beef brisket, granny Smith apples, blue cheese, tomatoes, red onions and croutons- a big salad. The brisket is so tender and smoky in flavor. The corn muffins when hot are sweet, buttery and amazing. Free refills on your non alcoholic drinks, try the Arnold Palmer so refreshing. Honey bourbon wings are so good. On a take order from another visit, I tried the ribs and pulled pork oh so good. So you if have a hankering for some shut your mouth and just eat delicious bbq, you can't go wrong with this great place. You won't be disappointed. Only one star short of greatness because it is expensive. Oh, I'm not a fan of their banana pudding, it's is served warm and the meringue is too eggy to me.

This place is incredible. The BBQ is so good the dessert are crazy!!!! You have to try the banana pudding. The staff couldn't be any friendlier. This is one of those lil places you shouldn't miss.

Love this place! Their cornbread muffins, wings, chicken tenders, brisket etc. We have tried about everything and have never been disappointed! So happy they extended the seating area (less wait time).

Came here on a Monday night a couple of weeks back. Sat at the bar and had one of the big bbq plates. Got sausage, pulled pork, and ribs. Sides were potato salad and fries. The pulled pork was delicious. The sausage and ribs were both so so. The potato salad is amazing- I would get it every time. The corn bread I got was stale, it had to have been cooked hours before. It just wasn't good. My guess is that since it was Monday and the place was slow, I probably wasn't getting the freshest of food. I'd imagine if you went any other night of the week it would be a lot better. I had previously gone to the one in Yorktown, and after going to both, the Yorktown location blows this one out of the water. That being said, I'll most definitely be back to visit next time I'm in town. Staff were friendly and inviting, and I think it was just an off night considering it was a slow Monday.

We don't get up to Hampton often but when we do we like to check out the local favorite eateries. The warm fire glowing in the fireplace was welcoming since it was only 40 outside at noon on the Saturday we visited. We each started with a margarita, a house specialty according to the menu, when asked if we wanted frozen or on the rocks we ordered one of each. Our waitress returned from the bar with only the one on the rocks to let us know that frozen wasn't available. No big deal but why didn't she know that when we ordered? After perusing the menu for a while hub settled on a full rack of ribs and I ordered the pulled pork. It wasn't until we ordered that our waitress told us the ribs weren't available. What? Did she not know that when she gave us menus? With great disappointment he settled on a burger. He liked his burger (but really wanted ribs), my pulled pork was okay, not great, just okay but the sesame coated bread was very tasty. I liked checking out the six types of sauces but the labels are wearing off. The cole slaw was lacking in any flavor at all, very boring, but the beans were delicious. Next time we are in Hampton we will check out a different local favorite.

So incredibly good - I had the tumbleweed which had soft bread with tender flavorful beef brisket soaked in au jus, swiss cheese and fried onions on the inside. The cornbread muffins and honey butter was delicious and the potato salad tastes like a really great cheesy baked potato. The service was very friendly and sent us off with extra muffins, probably because it was late. My husband's combo meal was delicious too. It's the best meal I've had this week in Virginia.

New in town and this place was recommended for a tasty BBQ. Do yourself a favor and stop in here. Manager Guy was super nice and stopped by our table. Pretty good bar. FOOD WAS AMAZEBALLS! Perfect portions and still taking home leftovers. I like how you have a variety of sauces you can put on you sandwich at the table. Even when we got home we were barely walking around still saying how good dinner was. Will definitely be stopping by again!

Best barbecue in Hampton Roads. Great beer selection too. Their brisket is delicious, the pulled pork is perfect, and the smoked sausage is a must. They have his salads for the carb conscience too. And if you're not counting carbs, get the potato salad, it's not what you'd expect.

This place seems to have been chosen as the Go to place for our family get together's. I have not tried the Tabb location, but I have read that the food is good there as well. Large variety of pork and chicken BBQ entree's as well as beef brisket. I always end up ordering their County Grill Salad. It is filling and is a great mixture of tastes. (Website) Smoked beef brisket & grilled chicken breast chopped on fresh greens with granny smith apples, bleu cheese, smoked bacon, red onion, tomato, garlic croutons & your choice of dressing. The meats are served "plain" (just retaining the smoke taste from the cooking process). On each table is a carton of 6 different BBQ sauces for you to chose from. From sweet to vinegary in range. Meals are served with table bread made up of miniature cornbread's. The Hampton Storefront has a large dining room that can easily handle groups. I cannot complain about this place. The food is good, and the service is good. You will not be disappointed. Recommended. @Removeyourhat

This restaurant is my go-to place to take visitors from out of town! If you like barbecue, you really can't go wrong with just about anything on the menu! The food is superb and the service is great. And the price is very reasonable--on par, or perhaps a little lower than say a Red Lobster or Olive Garden. Fair warning, you almost certainly will need a box for leftovers! Menu: Excellent taste, though low on variety. Not a lot of "healthy" choices, though if you're looking for health food, this is probably not the place for you. Ambiance: Country/Western kind of feel. Very casual. Service: Above average to excellent Value: Very good Suitable for: Large parties; out of town visitors; family night out Best Recommendations: Try the potato boat appetizer! Ridiculously good. Also, I highly recommend ordering the pulled pork or brisket or maybe a dish with both and then experimenting with the various (6!) barbecue sauces they have. You're bound to find one you love!

The food is good unless you are here for ribs. If you're looking for ribs call ahead. This has been the third time I've been here and ribs are unavailable. York county location always has ribs.

Let's start with If could give zero stars I would. But yelp won't allow this. I just eat there had a chicken breast an fries. Chicken was dry tough. An whatever the chicken was seasoned with was horrible. An the fries some were warm some cold some hot am covered in a gallon of salt.

First time for dinner here .waitress was friendly and helpful. We both tried the special. Brisket pork bbq and ribs. Very flavorful I really liked the ribs, and all the sauces. The homemade Cole slaw was so good. Wanted to try dessert but was to full. Will be back.

The food is always great quality and the staff is very friendly at County Grill. The beer selection is quite good and the atmosphere is a laid back cross between a BBQ restaurant and a community bar. I would recommend the chicken, it is fantastic.

This place is outstanding! My wife and I have eaten at the other County Grill in Yorktown, and enjoyed it. We found this one (much closer to us) and thought we would try it. It was a great choice. I had the beef brisket...not overly seasoned and great smokey flavor. My son absolutely tore through an appetizer size portion of the ribs, and my wife had the 1/2 rack of St. Louis ribs. Large portions, no one walked away hungry and even our son, the pickiest eater of the family, was happy. The potato salad...wow, great flavor. Even the service was great, which is so uncommon these days. This will become a regular for us.

not as big of a fan of this place as Q bbq but thats because they are different styles. I like this is a hampton born and bred place. the layout is great but can get rough at the yorktown location at night. the secret here is the sunday bloody mary bar. If i tell you one thing get the banana pudding you will not regret it.

This is my first stop in my permanent BBQ joint search. I am going to keep searching. The place was very very dark. Poorly lit to the point that it gave me a headache. My server was terrible. My friend had to take our empty cups to the bar himself and ask for refills after asking a passing server twice. The BBQ ribs weren't special and with all of the different house made sauces from different regions, I would have figured there would be a white sauce. The one sauce I was hoping for didn't exist. That might have actually made my ribs a little more moist. The only saving grace for this place was the sweet tea and the warm potato salad which I couldn't get enough of. When searching for a BBQ spot, don't settle on this one. Keep searching and use this one as a last resort or if you're in the area with no where else to go.

Great food! This place is always hopping around lunchtime for a reason. The portions are great and the food is well prepared. This location IMO is better than the Yorktown location by far. The brisket I ordered here was flavorful, juicy, and enough for seconds. Go here soon and often!

My family and I had dinner there tonight and it was fantastic. The service was great, Milo was our waiter and he was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. Another benefit was another waiter, Jamal, actually spent several minutes entertaining my four and two year old even though we were not his table. That kind of service is the reason this is a great place for familes. The food was awesome. My husband had the steak and shrimp combo and both were cooked to perfection. Because the steak was cooked over a pit the flavor was incredible. I had a combo of ribs, pulled pork, and smoked sausage. All were great. They give you a variety of sauces, this time I tried the Savanna which is a traditional South Carolina/Georgia sauce. I can't wait to go back!

the place was extremely dark and dirty. My ice cube has dirt in them! The ribs where dry and chewy and did not fall off the bone. Sad because it looked like it had potential.. Of the 14 people who sat at our table not one was impressed with their food.... sad...

We have been to the one in Hampton and York County and the differences are significant. The one in York County is a clear 4-star, but the Hampton location's physical atmosphere is the reason we will not go back. It was filthy! The floor, tables, walls and fixtures were all were worn and dirty. The American flag was so dirty it was discolored (totally disrespectful), and the layers of dust on the buffalo over the mantle were visible from 20 feet away. There were random old and partial curtain hardware with no curtains. This place needs to be gutted and completely redone! Food great but will not go back to this location due to the filth!

Amazing barbeque....and that is saying a lot since I'm used to good Texas BBQ. The staff was amazing and the food came out quickly. The brisket had an amazing taste and the shredded pork is cooked to perfection. They also have six different sauces for you to find your perfect taste. Don't get discouraged if the parking lot is full. We went when there was only one parking spot left and still were seated immediately. immediately highly recommend this restaurant if you love messy bbq.

Went during lunch based on Yelp rating- truly a great experience! Waitress was down to earth- freindly. Hard worker and caring, Had the thin sliced brisket sandwich special- seriously wanted to be able to eat it all- but after the fries and baked beans I could not finish my last two bites- it was so amazingly good! It wasnt busy during lunch when I was there- but dont let that stop you- I was excited to get a table fast and be served so kindly- great experience!

Service was very nice and prompt. Generous with the cornbread muffins. I had the traditional half slab of pork ribs and side or collards and roasted veggies-- did not disappoint! Quality meal at a reasonable price. Nice big booths. Plenty of dessert options, including banana pudding, but I didn't get to try it cause I can't have dairy at the moment. I finished my whole meal, and was completely satisfied. Yumm. The collards and roasted veggies were delish.

One of the best in Hampton, definitly not chain style Barbeque-The chicke is moist and very flavorful-my wifes favorite-I prefer the ribs with the barbque shrimp as an appetizer-DEE-Licious! great sides too I know it sounds mundane but they have great slaw! you will not be disappointed

I came here in the Fall of '09, and immediately fell in love. Had the Pit Master sandwich...good lord, people. Thick as two fists, but so tender you hardly know you're biting into it until the flavor hits you. And yeah, it does hit you. Came back again a few weeks ago (I live on the west coast, so all I could do in the year-long interval was dream and hope), and my wishes did not go unfulfilled. My self-inflated hype-balloons did not deflate. Had the same sandwich, same dream-come-true experience. The corn bread is really good, and I'd say four of the six table sauces are great (I don't care for BBQ with a lot of vinegar, which is why the other two were not for me). The bread pudding and banana pudding are both excellent (banana pudding, especially...and since you won't likely finish it all, you can feel safe taking it home...it tastes just as good later that night!). While I only have tried that Pit Master, my girlfriend had ribs and a half chicken...so tender, both of them, that the meat was falling off even as she picked them up. Whatever these folks are doing when they smoke their meats, it is the EXACT right thing. Personally, I would apprentice under them for seven years, just to learn the arcane arts and BBQ alchemy they practice, here. Service is friendly and helpful, atmosphere is laid back, and the prices are just fine. My family lives in the Hampton Roads/Tidewater area, so I'll be back to visit. And when I do, friends and neighbors, you can bet your donkey I'll be back in the County Grill.

The County Grill in Hampton is a pale comparison to the County Grill in Yorktown. I'm not sure exactly why this is. Perhaps it's the locale--it's a dark, damp place located off Mercury down near King Street. It's not a great location and the building definitely feels tucked away, or at least somehow secluded. The inside is split between two parts--a main dining area and more of a bar area with table tops and a few booths. The dining area is bland, and the bar section somehow feels unfinished, temporary. It's a nice place in terms of the staff, who are always friendly and jovial. And also the food is as good as the other location in Yorktown, at least as far as the BBQ offerings go, which is what the establishments are known for. Also, the bar is an okay spot if you're really looking for a quiet bar to hang out. It's set up in a way that is spread out enough to facilitate this.

The County Grill and Smokehouse in Hampton, VA came as an expansion to the first location in Yorktown, VA. Unfortunately, the building that was chosen wasn't really an ideal place for continuing the charm of the Yorktown location. It's a dark place that is separated by large stone walls. The bar area is completely separate from the dining area. Sitting at the bar feels like sitting in a large, empty cellar. Sitting in the dining area feels like you're in a restaurant across the street from the staff. It's a strange place in that sense. The staff are all very nice and on the bar side they are certainly attentive enough. Eating on the other side of the restaurant in the dining area I couldn't help but feel a little forgotten about. Perhaps that's because there were very few people on that side, or maybe they were understaffed. Regardless, whenever I've gone back, I've opted for the bar. And yet I can't help but feel I could be somewhere else instead. I don't mean to come down too harshly on the County Grill in Hampton. As stated, the staff is cool and they certainly look after their regulars. Further, the food is as good as it is in Yorktown. The pork BBQ is awesome. They have great sandwiches and salads, too. I recommend checking out the Smoked Beef Brisket sandwich. It's cooked and smoked 15 hours in the pit, then thin-sliced and piled high.

While visiting in Hampton we stopped here for dinner thanks to yelp reviews. The food was great and our service was fine. We had a party of six, which included two young children and four adults, of which two of us are exceptionally picky. Not only were the prices great, the amount of food was insane! We all had enough food for lunch the next day. The corn muffins are excellent if fresh (our first basket was kinda burnt and dry.) Also I did try the banana pudding, and true to review, it was very good. The only thing I would warn about the banana pudding is to order it early, as it takes 20 minutes to make. The nachos are a must have for a starter, and the collard greens as a side. All in all, our table had ribs, half chicken BBQ , pulled pork, brisket, sausage, hot dog and grilled chicken salad. I could only hope to have one of these where I live. It's a place we will most def come back to!

This is a keeper. I thought about a BBQ place in Hampton might not be what I have enjoyed in Kansas City, Dallas, or Memphis but I was surprised. Beef brisket, pulled port, ribs are all great. I couldn't say I can find an equal in NOVA area. I will stop by on my way back from the beach to just confirm my findings are correct, or more likely i want to have another chance to chow down some good BBQ before i hit home :-)

Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Hampton. The BBQ is very good, and they serve a lot of it. I usually take half my meal home for later. The beef brisket is some of the best I've had outside of Texas. And the banana pudding. Oh the banana pudding. If you're not a fan of banana pudding, you will be.

  • Brian V.

Ate here based on Yelp reviews. I love BBQ and consider myself an amateur pitmaster. Best brisket I have ever had. Pulled pork was above average, a little dry for my taste and not much defining smoke flavor. Chicken was good. Very moist. Had the BBQ beans. Not much of a BBQ bean fan but these changes my rating from a 4 to a 5. Staff very courteous and quick. Sauce was very good. Bought a bottle of the eastern Texas which is a shocker because I prefer eastern Carolina vinegar based sauce. Only complaint is the eastern Carolina sauce in the squeeze bottle doesn't work because the pepper gets hung in the tip.

  • Fred B.

Awesome BBQ. That's all I can say. They smoke all their meat in house and they really do it right. The brisket is never sinewy and tough, it just pulls apart. I can eat it with just the smoke, but for those that like it saucy, they give you several flavors to choose from at each table, just grab a squeeze bottle and keep on trucking. The pulled pork is exactly what you'd expect, supremely delicious and the smoke just gets in every bit. The surprise favorite.. wings!! Yeah, the smoke their wings before adding the sauce, so they have a HUGE extra layer of flavor, and wow, what a treat. If you're a south-sider like me, it's worth the trip through the tunnel. Right off Mercury (they also have a Yorktown location), and you are there. Oh.. and don't let them forget to get those warm, sweet cornbread mini-loaves to the table as soon as you sit down... super super good.

    (4)
  • Angie M.

Ok so this location is better than the Yorktown one. I can't really pinpoint why, it just is better. Although I love the brisket, this last time I went was the ONLY time I received hot brisket on my plate. All other 8 times, it was luke warm. This location has been out of tuna steaks for weeks now. When, oh when will it come back? Potato salad is warm which is weird to me but it's delicious! Service here is great and the corn muffins are the bomb.com !

Great...Great BBQ. Recently moving here from south Texas, where smoked BBQ is more like a religion. I just never thought i'd find it that good again. I was very wrong. Driving by the place, it is brick with very few windows, and leaves you with a bit of cluelessness as to what your walking into. From the moment you open the door, trust me, you'll be pleasantly surprised with how comfortable this place is. Not too mention the aroma of great barbecue. Favorite items are the brisket and the pork chops, though I think if we had tried the ribs, they would have trumped. One of the unique things they have available is about 6 different style barbecue sauces avalable at table to try, as much or as little as you need - house, kansas city, memphis, texas, carolina, whichever. The meat was so tender, brisket perfect. There were about 20 different beers on tap and a bloody mary bar. A definite reason to cross the HRBT.

Wanted to try local bbq and this place got good reviews. We later learned from locals that this was the wrong County Grill to try and that we should have gone to the "other" County Grill since it is much better. We were seated in the bar area and could not hear ourselves literally yelling at each other across the table. We asked if there was a quieter area and the waiter said "Oh, you mean you want to actually sit in the dining room?" After moving to the dining room, the noise was still loud but tolerable. Our waiter in there was very nice and knowledgeable. Identifying staff members was a challenge since they simply wore whatever street clothes they wanted to. Service was reasonable speed. Price was as expected....$40/couple with no alcohol. Decor was simply whatever they could find to hang on the walls or sit around...a mixed up, confusing mess. Cleanliness, not so much. The fountain drinks tasted very strongly of chlorine and could not be drunk. The corn muffins were tasty. The coleslaw was TASTELESS. The onion rings were good. The bbq shrimp skewers were delicious. The baby back ribs were almost unedible, dried out and tough. The french fries were hot. 2 stars overall just to be generous. On our travels we will NOT be returning to this establishment.....EVER

MMMmmmmmm! OMG this place is sooo delicious. I concur with another review of the CORNBREAD.. SHould call it crack bread. They are delicious and addictive. Kinda like having dessert first! The Tumble weed is amazing. The meat was soo moist and tender. I've had it twice and it was the same blissfull experience both times. Although I am not a Meringue(sp) fan the bananna pudding is quite a presentation. I have had better and could go without the Merinque on top. If you want BBQ, this is the place!

  • Walter S.

The food and service was great. The atmosphere more of a bar than a restaurant. We were there with another couple but it was so loud conversation was impossible. It is what it is so if I go back again it will either be by myself (and bring ear plugs) or with someone who does not talk much. I have been to the one on Rt17 in Yorktown and it is nowhere near as noisy. I think a small investment in some sound absorbing stuff for the walls would help. The only other drawback is that I can see that it would be tough to find without a knowledge of the area or a GPS. Good food, good service but not a place if you want to eat and talk.

  • Krissy T.

Since moving to the Hampton Roads area from FL, we have gone to this BBQ joint probably 5 times within the first two months of moving here. Their BBQ is fantastic. My husband orders the Tumbleweed sandwich (it's not on the menu you have to request it) every time we go. I love all of the BBQ sauce options they give you and the warm brownie with vanilla ice cream is excellent. We've gone here with family from out of state and with our two kids under two and we never feel uncomfortable or out of place. The staff is super friendly and can't wait to go back.

I am a regular there so I have tried most of there specialty dishes and I am never disappointed. One of the things that stand out the most (next to the amazing food, of course) is the outstanding service by one of the waitresses name "Lee". She is consistently attentive, enthusiastic, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu items. She does an outstanding job and she aims to please! Living in a society where good customer service seems a thing of the past, it's refreshing to see waitresses like Lee who take great pride in their work and such great care of their customers

I went to county grill for the 12th time today and think I should finally do a review. The food is really good. I really have no complaints. My issue was the service. Sometimes it's fast and other times slow. I think it is a good place to go every once in a while. Oh, the prices are not unreasonable. Many of the platters could be shared between two people. -rooster

Hampton Roads, you have your BBQ champ. I've been here several times, and each visit is always ends with the words "why did I eat so much?". I was originally turned on to this place by a co-worker and was not disappointed as the service is friendly, food finger lickin' good [sorry KFC] and parking nice and easy. This particular visit featured the pulled pork plate with vegetables and french fries. The pork arrives on your plate in shredded chunks, however it's not mushy like other BBQ places. You can visibly see the seasoning on the pork, which could lead people to think that you're killing the flavor of the meat. Rest assured it's in tact and delicious. Six different types of BBQ sauce for your liking are available at the table as well, from the vinegar variety of the Carolina's, sweetness of Tennessee and spiciness of Texas - they've got you covered. Our server was fast with the food and friendly as well. When there was a problem with the meat arriving at luke warm temperatures she wasted no time apologizing and retrieving the plates to not subject me to luke warm meat any longer. The manager even stopped by to apologize for the inconvenience, not necessary but appreciated. The food returned quickly and was warm[er] and not just microwave hot. Nicely done. Parking is easy with the large lot, even during the busiest lunch hours. Your mind may want to stay in its BBQ coma, but your stomach will thank you for walking the extra fifteen paces to your parked car, so don't worried if you don't get a spot right by the front door. County Grill will satisfy your BBQ cravings.

Took my girl here for lunch, she had never been and was blown away by the food and portions. She was so happy with the Bloody Mary bar also. They had BACON on the bar, BACON!!! She was very happy and the food was off the charts. We will be going back. This is a great bar BTW.

My husband and I came here for lunch as this is our favorite BBQ place in Hampton, VA. The menu had two specials - the Smokehouse BBQ sandwich -pulled pork with sauce and deep fried pickles, and the Tumbleweed - beef brisket with sauce, swiss cheese and fresh onion straws. Both sandwiches were good, but the Smokehouse was superior. The service was quick and friendly. We really enjoyed our meal.

amazing cornbread!! amazing ribs! and the chicken is really juicy! The people who work there are also very nice. Very friendly, and it's just a comfortable place to eat at. Def a place I would recommend to others! Not a fan of bloody mary, but they have an area where you can make your own.

There isn't much I can say about this place that probably hasn't already been said before: cheeeeeeeeap beer, great service, and incredible tasting food. On Wednesdays they offer $.99 beers until 6, then $1.99 until 7, then half off mixed afterwards for all the la-dies! It's always a good time, and I highly recommend hanging around for the live music if you can spare the time.

Went here cuz it had the best review / count on yelp for sandwiches around me at the time and once again, yelp came through. Easy parking in its own giant lot which surrounds the building. I was seated immediately in the middle of the Thursday lunchtime rush hour and my waitress came right away to get my drink order. I never ONCE waited for a refill on my unsweetened iced tea either which was awesome. I got the smoked turkey pit sandwich w/ fries and bbq beans. The fries are crinkle cut, came out fresh, hot, and salted perfectly. The beans didnt have any meat in them and I can't remember if the menu said they would or not. Hrm... The sandwich came on a wheat or grain toasted sliced bread. Go ahead and splurge the extra $0.60 (that's only 60 cents) for the bacon cuz you'll be glad you did. It was standard fare thin sliced, store bought bacon but it had a slight maple glaze to it which was awesome. For dessert I splurged again on the heath bar cheesecake. Very fancy presentation dusted w/ powdered sugar lol! This thing was so decadent and rich. Very small, finely ground pieces of heath bar gave a nice contrast of crunch to the velvety smooth cheesecake. Oh man! It was so rich I couldn't finish. Everything was delicious.

Can you say food coma? I come here about once or twice a month when I'm in town and this is by far the best BBQ in the area. I went to school in Texas so there isn't too much outside of the Lone Star State that can compare. I'll usually go for whatever special they have that day, but always start with the fresh corn bread ... holy moly! For lunch I stick with the pulled pork sandwich, fresh cut fries or potato salad (which is about the best I have had). For dinner I'll either get the County Grill Burger ... pit grilled, basted with BBQ sauce & topped with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, and mushrooms ... wowza! Or a full rack of St Louis pork ribs, which are also top on my list! Although I have my favorites, nothing you get here will leave you hungry. In fact, it will leave you wanting more, at least until you reach a coma induced state and start having meat sweats :) It's a true taste of happiness.

I loved the atmosphere here it's completely open and friendly. I ordered their pulled pork BBQ sand which that was smoked and tender when I bit into it. I was even more thrilled that they carried a variety sauces from different regions so that you (the customer) had the choice to pick either sweet or spicy. Nothing could have compared !

Excellent beers on tap. Pulled pork was excellent. Smothered half with Southwest Texas sauce and the other half with Savannah. Black eye peas were delicious but the veggies were salty and soggy. We left with a good helping of their wonderful cornbread muffins

I've been going to the County Grill since we moved to this area a little over two years ago. It took us the first couple months to make it in there (odd, since we live just down the street from it) as it was the place that we'd drive past and say "we should stop in there sometime". Over the last two years the resteraunt has evolved a lot, but the quality of food has remained the same. Excellent. When we first started going they had a small, but decent beer selection, and the barbeque (pork and brisket) were excellent. The variety of sauces lets you find a flavor that suits you the best, my preference is for a mixture of the Savannah (mustard based) and Mephis sauces. It's become the go-to resteraunt for visits from out of town family as well, since they all seem to enjoy eating there. As the years have gone past, the place has evolved and the menu continues to shift, but not excessively, maintaining the excellent quality of barbeque and a good variety of sides. The beer selection has expanded massively and offers a flavor that will appeal to just about anyone, at reasonable prices. This will continue to be one of our go-to resteraunts for as long as we live in the area.

The waitress was quick and helpful. The meats were tender and they had a variety of sauces, which is always a bonus for us since my husband and I have completely different tastes when it comes to BBQ sauce. It was not busy when we were there (5:00 p.m. on a Thursday) and the food arrived very quickly.

Everyone in our party of five had nothing but great things to say about the place, the food and the service. The corn muffins are fantastic, the pulled pork was perfect and the kids really enjoyed the kids meals. Service was top notch. If you like BBQ and are in the area, check this place out.

My favorite place to eat south of Mercury Blvd. A must stop when I'm in town. I grew up in Buckroe and there are only 2 or 3 places I would recommend around that area. This is one of them. The food has always been good and service adequate. I'm not sure if they still have the make your own Bloody Mary's on Sunday, but I sure hope so.

Amazing place. The potato boats need to be shared and are really good. Nachos were the best thing I had. Try the burger. It's so good. If you want to go to a wonderful place in food heaven, get the bread pudding. We had a party of 30 people and they did a great job taking care of us

Wow....just wow in a good way. Heck, in a great way! County Grill had some of the best BBQ I have ever eaten. The meat just melted in your mouth. There were plenty of yummy sauces to dip it in. I had a Texas Triple Platter (or something along those lines) with another person in my party. The sausage was fabulous with a nice crispiness on the outside and great flavor. The corn muffins were straight out of the oven and with the honey butter. My mouth is just watering thinking about it. Don't expect too much from the sides there though. They weren't really worth writing home about. Go straight for the meat. I'll be going here again!

Was visiting the area and looked on Yelp for a good place to eat and decided to try this place. This is the first BBQ place where I loved everything. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich and my boyfriend had a burger. Everything tasted delicious, the BBQ sauces on the table was delicious, our waitress was wonderful, everything was great. Nice casual atmosphere. When we pulled up the the restaurant, we were hesitant because of sketchy neighborhood behind it, but we glad we went in and had a great lunch. Definitely recommend it, I will go back again and try everything else! We were stuffed!

The county grill is another local favorite. You can't go wrong with anything that comes off the grill. The pulled pork is so tender and good that it will make you smack someone you love. The brisket is off the chain and the corn bread that they put on the table will make you ruin your appetite. Seriously, slow your roll on the corn bread. After you slap on a couple dollops of honey butter on that corn bread, you won't be able to put it down. My other favorite on the menu is the potato salad. The key to this potato salad is that it is warm. I mean this is something that you are not expecting. It is a surprisingly tasty twist to the potato salad you are use to eating. At least get a taste to try it. Whatever meat I order gets a healthy dose of Lexington BBQ sauce. You'll find this amongst the variety is different sauces sitting on the table. The bar is friendly and the prices are right throughout. And if you have any space left in your gut, try the banana pudding. It is made to order and it comes out hot. You'll need to give them a little heads up because it takes a few to prepare. You can not go wrong at the county grill.

I was really disappointed with this place. I ordered a classic pork barbecue sandwich, which isn't too complicated & the pork was very dried out. In addition, the environment was very loud & boisterous. If you want some really good barbecue, I would definitely recommend Whitner's Barbecue in Virginia Beach. Excellent food & excellent prices!
