I was a little apprehensive to try this place after seeing all of the negative reviews. However, I realized that many of them had to do with the restaurant not allowing dine-in customers roughly half an hour before closing time. Perhaps it would be better if they were to put up a sign explaining such a policy. In any case, it was the middle of the afternoon so I didn't worry much about it. My boyfriend and I ordered the spring rolls, crispy rolls, Pho Gai Chin (sp?) and chicken fried rice. The spring rolls were medium plumpness and tasty. The crispy rolls were heavy on the carrot and came out very hot. I ate my spring rolls first to give the crispy rolls time to cool down. My boyfriend said his chicken fried rice tasted fine, nothing special. I thought my Pho was pretty delicious. I've only recently moved to northern VA and have been searching for a Pho place to love as I had in Richmond. So far, this place is my top choice. The portions were quite large and they were very generous with the amount of meat given (my favorite part!). I thought the service was fine. Though perhaps I'm more used to "Asian" level service. I am one of those people who prefer privacy and quiet rather than being checked up on very frequently so it works out for me.

Well, sorry to say today was a cold day and we were in the mood for some Pho. We were going to go here but after reading the reviews of the poor service and unfriendly owner, we decided not to even try to eat here. Why go someplace that does not appreciate the customers that come through the door even if the food is good.

Customer service: would give 0 stars I could. Have never been treated so rudely at any restaurant ever! I've been here several times now to give it another try. The first couple times, the customer service was already bad enough and almost ruined the dinner for our group. This time we didn't even a chance to have our dinner here ruined, because we were turned away before closing time! We came in at 8:30 pm Friday night, and closing time is 9:00. I get that if it's 8:55 pm and we walk in, you'd be kind of irked. But pho is quick and our party of 2 could most likely finish our meal even before 9:00. So we walked in and one of the bus boys greeted us nicely. He took us to the owner (I think, he's here every time) who simply said "take-out only" and looked the other way. No "sorry, folks", no apologetic looks, just went back to his business. Even the bus boy looked embarrassed for him (Come on, even the bus boy has better manners than you!) We stood there for a good minute wondering if he was gonna look back at us...but nope, we just turned around slowly and left...and never coming back. Don't know how it got a "People Like Us On Yelp" sticker, because I would definitely recommend everyone away from here, and down the road to Pho 234.

Would give zero stars if I could... Worst customer service ever! The main dude acts like he's doing you a favor by taking your order. I will never come back here again, I live in Gainesville and happily make the drive to Viet Flavor in Bristow whenever I crave pho. Which is often! They are super polite and food is amazing, also offer different sizes of pho bowls vs one size like this place. This man needs to get out of this field of work bc he clearly hates his life. No smiles, or hellos here. C-YA Pho hahahahaha Lin you won't be getting our business!

  • Samantha W.

Worst customer service ever! Just went for a bowl of Pho and the place was empty. The owner / manager refused to let us sit in a booth even after I politely asked. He told me the section was closed until 6 pm! I have never encountered a business owner that was so inconsiderate and downright rude to his customers before. We will never go back there again, Would give a zero rating if possible.

Terrible service. The bartender/owner was rude and disrespectful to our group we left and will Never be returning avoid if you don't want to be treated like garbage. You have a lot of nerve running a business this way.

  • Foo F.

Only had pho, spring rolls and garden rolls. The rolls were all good and fresh. The pho is one size, and it's full to the brim. The broth had good flavor, was not oily, and the meat was generous and good quality. Prices were reasonable. The table caddy had fish oil and black pepper - not always available, but appreciated. The sprouts/basil were very fresh. No complaints. A solid bowl of pho. Who goes for pho for the service? Sheesh. Eat in any good pho place around DC and they barely speak English, and that's a good sign. Get over it.

Too bad I didn't read the reviews before I ate here tonight... Other reviews are spot on in terms of the customer service here... Not only was I treated like they could care less if I ate there, I witnessed what others have said about coming in 30 minutes prior to closing, The horrible service or the attitude of the owner and waitstaff, which was absolutely horrible... I watched them turn away a man and his two daughters because they came in at 8:27, they refused to serve them and told them they could do take-home, that was their only option, needless to say they left very upset and I don't blame them one bit... If you say you close at 9 o'clock, then you serve your customers until closing time, closing at 9 PM doesn't mean you shut the door and lock it and walked out of the restaurant, it means you serve your customers until they're done with their meal... If you want to be out of there by 9 PM then post your hours as closing at 8:30 PM or 8 PM... You obviously have no idea how to run a business... I drove all the way from Warrenton, only to be treated so disrespectfully by someone who appears to be the owner... I will not be wasting my time or money on a place that serves below average food at best, but has such deplorable customer service and treat their customers so disrespectfully... Don't waste your time or money on people or businesses who don't care, give it to the ones who deserve it...

Their pho tastes different from legit pho. I don't know what it is, but it's not good.. I tried it twice, hoping the second time would be different. Nope. I'm sticking with the only legit pho place around here - Pho 234 - service + food is great!

  • Eric F.

Lived here for 4 years and only stopped in twice. The second time reminded us of why we didn't go back. We walked in the door 30 minutes before closing and they refused to seat us. It's a pho restaurant so the broth is already prepared. It doesn't take long to sit and eat. We drove to Manassas and enjoyed our usual spot. Will never make this mistake again. Business must be great when you can turn customers away. Rule #1. Take care of the customer or someone else will. Pho 234 in Manassas took care of us.

As Pho places go, this was pretty standard. Excellent Fresh Spring Rolls (#2) and I had Pho with Brisket (#20). Both came out quick and both were fine. I did like the Spring Rolls. It's the service attitude that got to me. I get it as someone said, We don't go to Pho places for the service BUT we do like a 'hello' or 'welcome' or 'everything ok?' or 'can I get you more hot tea' or 'THANKS FOR COMING'. Didn't get any of this. It wasn't me, others got the same from the 'tude. So, good food, big menu, fresh basil and sprouts, clean washroom, prompt service, but lacking a little human warmth.

I continue to frequent Pho Ha Linh - I almost always order the Pho Ga - it's just so damn tasty and good! Having said that, I have recently tried a couple of other dishes: Gà Xào Sa Ot: Chicken stir fried with lemongrass and chili flakes Bò Lúc Lac (Shaken Beef): Seared cubed beef tenderloin served over a bed of lettuce, onion, and tomato tossed in a vinaigrette I ordered both of these extra spicy - both were very spicy and delicious! Great place for lunch or dinner. They've recently added a few vegetarian options to the menu - including a veggie Pho - I've not tried it. I note that they are now closed on Tuesdays!

My family and I used to be regulars here because we all really enjoyed the food.. but the customer service just got too bad to deal with. It was annoying because my dad and the owner used to have conversations and it was nice.. but then the owner became so rude to my family and didn't even appreciate us and how we were regulars there and now he only ever treats us like shit. I don't like to go somewhere just for the food.. I go for the experience and customer service as well.. and the customer service here is beyond horrible and now we only ever get treated like complete shit which makes me feel like I'm wasting my money here on a terrible dining experience. Save your money and try one of the other Pho restaurants around as there are many that are even better and offer amazing pleasant customer service.

  • Dan H.

Way over priced Vietnamese food, full of MSG, and staff there doesn't know the meaning of the word customer service. I stopped coming here after they got my carryout order wrong for the second time in a row (the only reason I ordered from here is they're literally two minutes from my house). When I called to let them know they screwed up, there was no apology, no mention of fixing my order, nor offer of credit for next time, even though what I paid for was more than what they gave me. This place sucks a big one and that pretty much sums it up. I now go to Manassas for all my Pho needs as there are plenty of better places to choose from.

  • Tina T.

Alright, I'm very picky when it comes to pho. But this pho is nothing memorable compared to other places I've been to. And service is meh. I do like the open space and cleanliness of the restaurant. So, if you're a picky pho person like me - I don't recommend it. But I do recommend the Bun Bo Hue! It's spicy, so you might break a sweat but it's good. Want good pho broth and perfectly cooked noodles? Pho 75 off Wilson Blvd or Pho Cong Ly in Springfield.

  • C H.

We used to eat here often. The last few times, the owner (I believe he is the owner) was very rude. We ordered the lunch special everytime (which includes iced tea)... The last few times he said no refills! It's just iced tea!! And said it rudely at that. Food was not as good lately too, tasted old or frozen. We will not go back. We now go to Viet Flavor in Bristow- food much better and super nice owner and wait staff!

  • Luke O.

Sadly I have to write a bad review. The food is very good here. The reason for my two star rating is because of the extremely poor customer service the owner or the manager continues give me or my friends every time we have gone there. But this Friday was the last straw we walked in 45 mins before closing and he wouldn't serve us. The hours of operation are until 9pm. My brother and I drove to pho 234 in Manassas and were pleasantly greeted and served with great food too.

  • Saraa B.

My final attempt at eating here-FAIL!!!! The main asian guy is a total d*ck. He obviously doesn't realize yet the reason his business is always empty is HIM! Never experienced such rudeness before( this has been a steady decline from 2 yrs ago when I gave them a 4*rating). Came in last week(not busy @all),& I'm obviously pregnant... We asked to sit in booth, but he denied us stating it's closed? I mean the lights were on in that area, it's less than 5 feet from all the other tables.. Why would I sit in a hard asss chair &suffer more discomfort to spend our $$$ here? Isn't eating out supposed to be enjoyable &an experience where staff treats you well? He's a douche, we'll never return & have already told others who won't return bcuz of this incident..

I love having a Vietnamese restaurant that's has good food and is in a great location to me. I recommend if you have not tried the Bo luc lac try it. It is delicious and not a heavy tasting entree/ salad. My favorite

Food was okay. And only okay. The customer service was terrible. The owner or whoever - is a complete rude a-hole. He made my wife feel like dirt when she decided to dine in instead of carry out. Pretty bad treatment for having only mediocre food.

This place is a must! Great Pho! The appetizers are really good, and I really liked the mango freeze!!! Great atmosphere, awesome decor, and fast and friendly service. One the best Pho place I've ever been to!

  • Chef Scott A.

Poor customer service! Told we had 30 minutes till closing and that we had to be out the door 10 minutes later! Never got to try the food, bar keep/manager did not seem to care, so we left. Doubt the flavors can be better than what I make in my own kitchen. Horrible way to run a business!

  • Stephanie J.

Have not been there for months & really don't care to go back...mainly for being treated rudely by the one male waiter. Too bad because the ladies that work there are very nice. I guess business must be so good there he doesn't need to be polite.

  • Alisha D.

This restaurant is pretty impressive. It has a large dining area and a bar. I tried the Pho Ha Linh and was not disappointed. The broth is amazingly tasty, and the portions of meat are huge. Most places tend to short you, but not here. Can't wait to come back!

  • Robert L.

The food is OK, but food is only a part of the dining experience for me. My girlfriend and I have been at this place 2X now and both times the owner was beyond rude. He acts with total contempt towards customers. He makes the soup Nazi look nice. Screw this jerk, we'll never go back I don't care if others give him 10 stars, I'd give him -10 if possible. This may acceptable behavior in a third world country but it doesn't work for me here in the USA .No-one should be expected to tolerate this type of behavior in the food service business, no matter how good the food is. To all those hard core supporters that love this place so much...Before you get all warm and fuzzy with more 5 star reviews, check out all the recent PWC Health code violations. Now what do you think? Still hungry? Bon Appetit !!!

I was sad to leave my dear Pho Miss Saigon in MD that was so delicious and a fun eclectic atmosphere. But once I found Pho Ha Linh I was refreshingly met with it's replacement. I've been to Pho Ha Linh several times and they have ALWAYS been consistent, friendly and delicious! Their decor is modern and always clean. The food is always quick and hot and last time I went in they had HGTV on so I was a happy camper! They are also a pretty inexpensive place to get dinner, the pho will fill you up for less than $10 and you don't feel like you have to run a 5k to make up for what you just ate! I recommend the summer rolls and the Pho Tai!

Food was good but the service is horrible! The owner is rude condescending and disrespectful to customers. We won't go back again!!

**The pho was ok, the meat a bit under cooked but mostly the presentation was nice. I do wish the soup was hotter & the mint was a bit wilted. Also there was no explanation of the sauces that you add/no labels. This review focuses on the service but if you are getting take out your food should mostly be ok I imagine.** I'm writing in reference to being served here around lunch time on Saturday. No one was in the restaurant except for me so I sat myself even though there was a man behind the bar he didn't even seem to want to greet me. I just assumed maybe he didn't see me ok. I sat down at a seat next to the windows in the front. I told him that I was tired & not feeling that great, if he recommended anything, said chicken. Ok. Fair enough. I order my meal, & the buser brings it out. Two more different parties arrive & they sit at the tables closer to the bar. Repeatedly the waiter goes to their tables filling up their water, I'm assuming asking them how their service was. Not once does he come to mine. He does look at my table but he doesn't come to refill water, clear extra trash, ask if I'm enjoying my meal or anything. Then someone comes in to meet him, I think maybe a florist & I feel very awkward at this point but I would like more food, starting with extra noodles, I was thinking of buying a drink too. He never once comes, I get then meekly ask & he gets an attitude with me as, if I'm serving him or something. I'm so embarrassed I could actually cry then on top of this the rest of my soup is cold. After leaving the restaurant I have puked 3 different times. Now, as I stated I was already not feeling well so I don't want to assume it was food poisoning. I actually just think that experience just gave me a lot of anxiety. I have no idea of why when I'm out being served I would be treated like that. I work from home so I eat next door all the time at China Inn & recently the sushi place a few doors down, they've never given me a reason to think I've done anything to deserve that & they actually seem always so happy to see me because I'm easy going & try to tip at least 25% every time. I'm sorry for making this so long, I don't know how else to state my disappointment & embarrassment but I thought I should state I felt like a second class citizen in your dining room. I may be young, but I eat out all the time & I've never been treated as if my money wasn't welcome somewhere so I'm a bit shocked. If he didn't want to serve me or felt I was beneath him he could just say your service isn't welcome here or we aren't serving lunch right now & I would have went on my merry way. As long as you don't literally ruin my lunch I actually would prefer to be denied service.

A new fave!! Only had once -- carryout, but definitely ordering from here again. And when we picked up, pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous interior of the restaurant. The gentleman who filled our order was friendly and engaging and took care of all our requests. And the food was ample and delicious. Craving as I'm writing ...

I've been going to this place regularly since its currently the only Pho place in Gainesville. I'm aware of the man/bartender that has that cold vibe, horrible customer service. I've been reluctant to write a bad review since most of the time I order take out. A couple of days ago me and a friend of mine decided to eat there. We get in there and nobody in sight. We wait at the bar for 15 minutes then the bartender finally comes out and asks me, "what do you want?" We decided to place our order to go since we didn't feel welcomed at all. Their PHO is descent but the horrible customer service kind of offsets that. Never coming back here again. There used to be this young lady that was very welcoming and understood the concept of customer service.

Was a little upset when the pho joint by my house closed. A buddy of mine invited me to lunch at Pho Ha Linh and as soon as i tasted the broth, i had a new pho place. The service is fast, and everything i have tried off the menu has been excellent. Well worth the drive from Centreville

EDIT: Tbh, service has changed since my last review. I thought it was only me, but looks like other yelpers are starting to feel the same way too! Definitely a good place to enjoy viet food in Gainesville... But if you want best of the best probably should venture out north. ----------- Finally! A pho place in Gainesville that I can sit, relax and enjoy at. I've been here about 3 times since it opened and every visit was pleasant. I tried both their pho and rice platters! Delicious! I especially LOVE their grilled chicken rice platter (posted a photo of it) Their grilling of the chicken has got to be the best around here. Will be coming every week, if possible!

We stopped in here for lunch one day and we were pretty pleased with the experience. It had been my second time trying Vietnamese but his first time. The location is very large and it's surprising to see a specialized restaurant with such a large restaurant, the place filled up quickly as we waited for our food so that was a good sign. We did the autumn rolls and the egg rolls, the sauce was a very light clear sweet sauce. With the autumn rolls I prefer the brown peanut style sauce that's in the dispenser in the middle of the table. But the sweet sauce was good on the other ones. For the main course we both had the Pho. I selected a more simple Pho with steak and brisket where as he selected the spicy beef soup. Just a warning if you have low tolerance for Spice you will not be able to eat this soup in its regular form. I would suggest asking for it a little less spicy. It had wonderful flavor but very spicy. That kick in your throat kind of spicy. Overall the food was good. Just a little bit too much cilantro other than that, it would have been great. Worth the stop in. Very inexpensive food!

I gotta give this place a 3 because the pho is decent and the interior is clean but the service is a little too slow. It's one guy running the whole place so I will cut him some slack, but some of the fundamentals are not even put into place. For instance, I have been here at least 5 times and I have never been greeted with a hello, hi or welcome. Coming from a service background, this is just disappointing. The reason why I come here is because it's right in my neighborhood. And when I don't feel like trekking out past Gainesville, this is the best option. Sadly, I do have one complaint to post. Today as I was enjoying the pho despite the lack of friendliness from the staff, I found an unpleasant surprise in my food. There was a small little piece of hair on my meat. Possibly a nose hair? It grossed me out however, that could happen anywhere so I won't hold it against them. Overall pretty decent food but could use some work here and there so... 3 is what I rate then.

The main asian guy is rude, he wouldnt let my pregnant wife sit in a booth because he didnt want to walk 8 feet from the herd of people sitting in the middle of the room like cattle waiting to be fed.

Love the Pho food here. everything is fantastic.. If I had to leave a con about this is that they don't carry tapioca balls in their bubble tea but everything else is amazing.

unfriendly service, yes the male waiter..pricy for what you get. Won't be back for sure!

  • C Y.

A lot of reviewers here appear as spoiled-rotten racist princesses who seem to have expected the waiter to change his evidently introverted personality so they could feel coddled & knowledgeable in a cultural environment where they understand fuckall. Interestingly, when I eat here, all I expect is excellent food and humane service, and I leave happy every time. If you refuse to check your privilege upon entering someone else's space and insist on throwing tantrums about the supremacy of your ego, perhaps you're best off staying home and making your own fucking pho.

Best Pho in NOVA if you ask me!! Prices are great, service is superb as it is a family establishment, and food is delicious! The place is clean and service is fast and friendly. I hope they continue to get more customers as it is by far the best place for Pho that I have ate at in NOVA. They also have nice plate meals as well. Give them a shot and you will be addicted! Yum . . .

My fiancee and I have been coming to this place for a few years now. When we first started eating there we had no issues. The food was good and the service was decent. No complaints. The ladies that work there were always very nice and friendly along with the husband who is the owner. After awhile, his attitude got worse. Every time we went in his customer service was worse and worse. I started to dislike going there and giving my money to this douchebag but my fiancee really loved eating there so I put up with it. One time we went in there about 45min to closing and he told us they closed up in 30 min...rude! We're two regular customers and we don't take long at all! The last and final time we went in there we asked to sit in a booth (where we always sit) and he told us he wasn't opening up that part of the restaurant. We even said we didn't need the lights on we just wanted to sit there. He then proceeds to say no while putting our menus at another table closer to the bar all while answering the phone. RUDE! Needless to say, we walked out right then and there. Last time I'll ever give that a**hole my business!! Horrible customer service! oh, and if there were negative stars on here that's what he would receive from me!

It is pretty good food. The service was lacking a lot and we had to find a waiter to serve us. The food came out fast and good afterwards. I would probably try a different place for Vietnamese food though. I had the fresh spring rolls and the lemongrass chicken.

I had been visiting Pho Gourmet, which is closer to my home in Manassas. Feel free to see my review on them. I always see this place when I visit Bonefish or Musashi in that shopping center, so I figured I would give this place a shot after deciding to leave my last pho spot. I was NOT disappointed at all! First, I did not want to try the spring rolls (I dont usually eat anything like that, even in Chinese places) but my roommate borderline forced me to take a bite. I am happy she did, because it was so tasty. The peanut sauce is phenomenal. The Pho Ga was perfect - the meat was juicy, the bowl was generous, and everything was delicious. My roommate had steak/beef and she said it was cooked perfectly. The waitress that greeted us was cheerful, articulate, and was very sweet. It was easy to make small talk with her and get her opinion. They forgot my extra noodles, and she was quick to bring them out and apologize. The restaurant is very nice, clean, and well lit. Overall, I am definitely going to return here regularly and try many more menu items! It was a bit pricier than other pho places, but for a night out to dinner, was far less expensive than perhaps Bonesfish or another restaurant.

Went here for dinner last night with my Mom and family friend. Got to say other than not liking the summer roll everything else was really good. My Pho broth had a good flavor which is actually hard to find in this area. My Mom and friend crushed their vermicelli bowls. I had no problems with the service either not by any means outstanding but our server was prompt and never spent anytime trying to figure out where she went.

I don't understand how this place has 4 stars. Went here recently for lunch with my fiance based off of yelp reviews and I was disappointed. First, there was a girl who greeted and seated us so we ordered the shrimp and pork spring rolls. Another guy came over to repeat our order to us, but really just barked at us with a lovely scowl. Fine, weird, but we can move on. The spring rolls were really measly in size and the pork smelled a bit gross. The guy came back to take our order and he was so incredibly rude. .. he was the worst and he acted like he was doing us a favor. I had the pho and it wasn't anything spectacular. We were debating whether to go here or to Gainesville pho in the shopping center next door and I guess we just chose wrong this time. The girl was pretty attentive to refilling our water so that was nice, but she seemed kind of scared the whole time. Anyway, food was nothing memorable. . And the service sucked so I'm not going to come here again.

The foods good, love that I don't have to drive out too far to find a pho place. Usually when I go in its the non-busy hours. The server there hates his life. Lol don't try to hold a conversation with the guy.

  • Do Y.

Stopped here on 4/28 for some Pho. I had the pho tai and the wife had the pho ga (chicken). We both shared the spring rolls. The spring rolls were the only good thing this day. The noodles in the pho were gummy and the broth only warm, actually not even warm enough to finish cooking the beef that was in my soup. The broth wasn't that good either, it was cloudy and not very tasty. I've had some awful pho before, but I've never had pho with such gummy and chewy noodles before until I ate here. I'd come back for some of the other dishes, but never for the pho. It's definitely on my top 5 list of awful pho.

THE OWNER IS A JERK! Other than that the food was pretty good had the pho ga ( chicken ) good and well cooked but I wish it had more meat in the soup, also got some egg rolls I didn't like them to much, the flavor was ok but the texture was sandy and mushy, so over all I will not be going back because of the owner.

The customer service here is great. The staff is friendly and food comes in good timing. The pho here is ok but not the greatest. If I don't feel like driving to Pho 234 in Manassas I come here. I haven't been here in a couple months so I'll have to make an update when I visit again.

I am giving Pho Ha Linh 1 star primarily because of the the service. Before I go into it, let me say the food was okay. Spring rolls were crispy and not greasy. Pho was okay. Service was unacceptable. Went there for a meet up with a friend. We ordered and ate. We were handed our bill very quickly. The restaurant was NOT full. In fact, the waiters sat every one that came in to the right of the restaurant. The booths on the left of the restaurant were empty. A family of about 7 came in and the waiter asked my friend and I who were still winding down and chatting if we could move to a smaller table if we still wanted to be in the restaurant. I was shocked seeing he sat us at that table to begin with. I have never been told to make room for new customers in all my years of eating in restaurants. I would have understood if the restaurant was full and there was a line of customers waiting AND we had finished eating for at least 10 minutes and were just hugging a much needed table. I was too upset to ask the waiter why they couldn't sit them somewhere else. We pretty much went outside and finished our conversation there. I'm definitely never coming back there, or recommending them ever again.

First time here, just trying out something new and I was not disappointed. Great service and were really accommodating with vegetarian restrictions and making substitutions. The staff was really friendly. My pho was great and the bùn was too. Fresh spring rolls and yummy egg rolls. The mochi ice cream was so good, we got the trio with green tea, mango, and strawberry. Definitely coming back.

A very well-run and tastefully decorated establishment, Pho Ha Linh served up an enjoyable, Sunday late afternoon lunch. My friend and I shared the spring roll appetizer as a start: it was filled with fresh, large bites of shrimp, vegetables and rice noodles encased in razor-thin slices of white chicken meat, lettuce and rice paper. Being a cold and wet day, we each ordered Pho - she had the Tai (beef) and I had the Ga (chicken). I judge my Pho based on the broth and how balanced the proportions are of noodles, meat and spices. Theirs was heavenly - a clear yet rich broth that wasn't too salty or overpowering. The noodles were really fresh. My Pho seemed bottomless, as the more I ate, the bigger the bowl seemed to grow. There's enough variety on the menu from which the pickiest eaters may find something they'll like, although the non-carnivores may have to search harder or make a special request. Service was friendly and attentive; it wasn't too busy at that hour of the day, but the staff didn't stand around, so I never felt stalked or ignored. The minor lapse in knowing (or assuming the patron wouldn't know) the difference between black and jasmine tea was offset by the server's earnest efforts to please us. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and will be back. P.S. Nice bar.

For the location and quality of food compared to NYC, it gets 4 stars. I ordered the Pho Ha Linh. They give you lots of ingredients, mainly meat related and the noodles were tasty. I did think the broth was decent. Could use more meat flavor in it. The broth is not as good as places in NYC or CA but for this location, I bet it's one of the better places. The "rooster" sauce was a little watered down but that's expected of all these types of restaurants. The bean sprouts and lime were fresh. Service was good considering there's only one person servicing the entire restaurant and I believe his wife was just doing the checks. The waiter was very attentive to everyone's needs. We had also ordered thai tea but it was different from what we were used to. It's probably just a different way of making it when comparing vietnamese and thai people. At this location, they made it more of like a vanilla smoothie with little to no taste of tea. I'm used to heavy tea flavoring with sweetened milk. I really couldn't get over my pre-conception of what thai tea should taste like but I won't fault them for their own interpretation. We had mentioned to the waiter about the tea and he just brought us another one but added more powder to it. It was a nice gesture by him because I don't expect service like this in an Asian restaurant. However, I'm going to try thai tea more often now and see how people interpret this drink to see if anyone else makes it like them. Food was excellent, no complaints. I did think that the food took awhile to make but that's probably because they don't have it in a "pre-made" way like other restaurants do. The turn over rate is probably not that high. In any case, I would come here again and would recommend this place.

Pho Ga is really good here. Lots of tender chicken slices and broth was fantastic. Service has always been good here. The owners always come to ask you how everything was. I visited this place when it first opened and it was not as great as it is now. The atmosphere has totally improved. They have background music playing now which makes it a lot happier too. If you like pho you should definitely check them out if you're in the Gainesville area. :)

Our third visit to this restaurant left us very disappointed in the drop in quality and service. We both order Pho Thai soup. The basil was wilted and old unlike in our previous two visits. Worse was the beef in the soup which was noticeably dark and lumpy looking. It tasted like crap. It took forever to get the waiter's attention and when we showed him the meat and said we have never had bad meat before like this in a pho his response was that it was just like that as it had been frozen in order to be able to slice it thin and that dark color was from adding it too very hot soup. Hmmm, we'll I have been eating pho for over 10 years from New York to California and have never seen meat like this. Furthermore, the meat did not look like this in the pho we had the first two times we dined at this exact restaurant! We asked that our bill be discounted. For two soups at 17 dollars we were surprised that only 2.50 was taken off and that the waiter was so reluctant to make things right and instead argued with us and didn't admit that something was wrong. We told him we were very disappointed and that we would not return again. Had they tried to make things right we would have given them a second chance. Knocking 2.50 was not enough.

The place looks clean, there is a bar to the right when you first walk in, a couple of tables and some booth seating. The employees are friendly, the decoration looks modern, nothing odd about the place. As for the food, it now tops all the pho places in manassas and woodbridge. I got the spring rolls and a bowl of pho tai bo vien. The spring rolls were $3.99 for 2 and they were not greasy as most places so that was a plus, the pho was $8.50 for a one size bowl which was pretty big. There were 4 slices of bo vien in the bowl so that's probably equivalent to 1 big meat ball which is the size of a golf ball. There were about 4 big pieces of tai (steak meat) a little skimpy but not that bad as other places. Anyway other than that, the soup was fantastic, i think this is a new place to eat pho but it's so far out from where i live. They also have many other Vietnamese dishes that i would have to come back and try. Overall it's good stuff.

The food here is fresh and very good but service is a disaster. Visited last night with wife and kids. I give 3 stars because the food was not only very good but the prices were impressive. Total check for family of 5 including a glass of wine and 2 appetizers was $70! I assumed that ticket would be $110. During our visit, the dining room was moderately busy, including a large table of perhaps 15. Unfortunately both the kitchen and the front staff were clearly overwhelmed. At the front, it appears that only one waiter handles everything, periodically tapping a few young staff members to help him carry the food out to tables. He seems like a nice guy and competent, but too busy to be polite and attentive. The restaurant needed 3 more wait staff with his level of knowledge and competence. As for the kitchen staff, other than the chef's great food, they are a mess. Without exception, throughout the restaurant, dishes arrived for diners in piecemeal. After a long 30 minutes, my daughter received her plate first. Luckily we had the pre-cooked and prepared appetizers timely delivered but they were long gone before her plate first arrived and were not very good. Fully 10 minutes after my daughter received her food, perhaps more, a second plate arrived for my oldest son. 5 minutes after that, 2 more plates finally arrive for my wife and I. Another 5 minutes and my youngest son finally gets his dinner. Unbelievable. Waiter correctly apologized, but it was the same for every table in the room. Luckily the football game was on so we had something to do during our long wait. There was no sign of a manager or anyone in charge and I doubt the restaurant has such a person. I wouldn't be surprised if the single competent Waiter-Who-Does-Everything is also the manager. Management needs to raise dinner prices and use the money to hire a dedicated manager, an expediter for the kitchen, and training for the kitchen staff so they can learn how to work entire meal ticket orders at the same time.

This was my go-to pho place for over a year while I lived in Gainesville. Looked at mint to find more than 40 visits. Unfortunately I've now moved away and won't get to go as much. The service has gotten much better since the first time I went, it's great now... the main guy knows our order and it's always quick to come out. We don't wait long for water either, which is usually the problem I have with pho places. The pho is sweet and delicious, my wife loves the seafood pho. It's a great place, the atmosphere is good and the booths are super comfortable.

Our first visit will not be our last. The service was very friendly and very helpful, even on a Saturday night. That makes a really big difference especially for people like us who are not very familiar with Vietnamese food. They serve only beer and wine, but the Vietnamese dark beer I tried was especially good. The pho is excellent as other reviewers have noted. Try the spicy chicken wings appetizer. They have quite a few beef and pork dishes and cook their beef and pork slices very thin so that it cooks quickly. It's flavorful and tender.

Best place to spend my first meal of the year! Everything from the pho, chicken wings, shaken beef and even the taro smoothie with jelly were mouth watering good! Waitress was super friendly, service was fast and atmosphere was relaxed and modern. Will definitely drive 15 miles just to come here again :)

Great food! The ambiance was great too! We had the spring rolls as an appetizer, pho, and a fried vermicelli with beef dish. Everything was as described and the wait staff were very helpful. I am very glad we tried this place and will be back the next time we are in the are!

We had a wonderful experience at Pho Ha Linh. We had never had Pho before and had my two kids with us. So we took a chance on a new cuisine, and it payed off! The waitress was very helpful, explaining the difference choices and how they prepare the food. They had a good amount of vegetarian friendly dishes and seafood dishes. We all had something different - soup, crispy noodle dishes, and a regular stir fry noodle dish. We also got vegetable spring rolls to start off with. The decor was clean and modern, the food was flavorful and presented well, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Can't really ask for more! It is a little pricey, but no worse than any other sit down restaurant in the area. I can't wait to try it again!

We ate at Pho Ha Linh for the first time today for lunch. The appetizers were okay. We ordered the veggie spring rolls and the regular spring rolls. The spring roll was really good, but the veggie roll was just okay. Our main dish was excellent. I had the grilled chicken with rice, and my wife had the chicken curry vermicelli. They both had wonderful display and the taste was flawless. Also, the service was top notch. They were very accommodating for us with two kids, one being an infant. The mochi ice cream was okay, but you can buy that at any Asian grocery store for much less. We will go back there again.

Today was our first visit to Pho Ha Linh and we were not disappointed. It was early afternoon so the place was empty, but the atmosphere was nice. The waiter who greeted us was friendly and interacted with us as if we were people and not just a potential tip. (This was a nice change from chain restaurants.) We ordered the Autumn rolls and I was not impressed, but my husband did enjoy them. I am more accustomed to the spring rolls, so I will need to try those on our next visit. My husband and I ordered the Ph Tái Bò Viên (Slices of round eye steak and beef meatballs). The steak was tender and perfect, neither of us were big fans of the meatballs. This is not to say that they were bad, just compared to the steak we preferred the steak. The broth was tasty and the noodles were exactly how I like them. I added some hot pepper and jalapeno and a dash of soy sauce to my bowl and really enjoyed the meal. My husband enjoyed his so much he was wanting more by later that night. For my 19 month old daughter we ordered chicken fried rice and the portion was HUGE. This was not a bad thing because it meant that we got to have a taste, and had awesome leftovers. She also had some of the pho broth and really enjoyed that as well. Before we left I ordered the Thai bubble tea and will probably be stopping by just for more of that. I have only had bubble tea once before and actually didn't like it, but this flavor of bubble tea I really enjoyed and it made for a nice dessert. I'm glad this is in our neighborhood because I am sure we will be back.

Been here a few cold and rainy nights when Pho is absolutely necessary. The staff here is as attentive as can be... you almost want to slap their hands away when they walk by and pick up your straw wrapper... and then are back picking up a used napkin 25 seconds later. They are as nice as can be... drinks never reach the bottom, bowls are never left to sit on the table. I always get the Pho Ti' and my pho partner in crime gets the Pho Ga'. While I don't think it is the best broth in the area, it is amazingly good and hits the spot on cold nights!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! It's a really big restaurant & the food is really good. I had the pho with tendon & brisket. Good portion. The service is very nice & the atmosphere is comfy. Our waters were always full & the prices were just right. You can customize your pho if you don't see one you like on the menu.

Oh my gosh, it's so good! I've been glued to Pho Gourmet since I used to live at that end of Manassas. I'll never go back to Pho Gourmet now. Pho Ha Linh is delicious! Since we discovered this place (using Yelp of course) I've been once a week for number 19 (Pho with steak and brisket). It's so good!!!! My husband likes the grilled beef and shrimp with vermicelli. When his comes I get jealous because it looks and smells so good!!! We've tried some of the rolls which were all good but none have been standouts yet. So..... the food is really great and much fresher than Pho Gourmet but this place blows Pho Gourmet out of the water when it comes to cleanliness!!!! We've mostly done carryout here but once we ate in with all three kids and it was lovely!

The autumn rolls were delicate and the subtle flavored of turmeric and spices came through perfectly. The pho was rich and satisfying without any hint of MSG. The meat was lean and tender while the veggies were fresh and bright. The scallions in oil were richly flavored with delectable marrow and I could have consumed several bowls!! My coconut water was slightly sweet and packed with toasty notes. I read the previous reviews and believe that they are the ramblings of a frustrated food critic wannabe who clearly has a palate that is inexperienced. This establishment is very good, clean and great service. I will be back!!

The best Pho restaurant I have been to is Pho Real in Burtonsville, MD. Having just moved to the area in VA here, this is my first time trying pho since Pho Real. Still, nothing compares to Pho Real but I must say the pho here was pretty good. What made the whole experience even better was the fact that the owner and waitress were extremely nice, easy going, and not afraid to strike up a conversation. I am also impressed that I didn't come out of the restaurant reeking. The menu offered a 'kids' menu/section, which was great. It also had a great ambiance with a clean and updated look.

This is one of the worst Vietnamese restaurants I have ever been to. I am maybe a bit pickier than most due to my experience with home cooked Vietnamese food but really this is even subpar to the most basic Pho eatery. The egg rolls are wrapped in extra skins to cut price on the filling, the outside is crispy as to be expected but the inside is mushy and doughy. The Vietnamese coffee is not real Vietnamese coffee from a strained press, it tastes like instant coffee that is combined with lukewarm water and too much sweetened condensed milk. My main dish was the egg roll with vermicelli, this was very basic, even the nuc nam was just very watered down fish sauce with a little added sugar. Really quite disappointing and I spent hours afterward sick to my stomach probably from the undercooked chicken in the egg rolls. I recommend going to the Vietnamese place around the corner next to Volcano over this one. The food is much much better there.

Wow! Was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of this restaurant. I did not try the pho, which everyone else eating there seemed to be having, but had lemongrass chicken and ginger chicken. Wow, indeed. I haven't had that much flavor come through in an Asian restaurant in a long time. What a delight to actually be able to taste the lemongrass and the ginger. Warning though...the lemon grass chicken is VERY spicy (hot), so be sure you like that sort of thing. The spring rolls were also outstanding - very light, crisp and fresh. All in all, a very enjoyable meal, a hearty recommendation for this place.

J'adore... And if you haven't tried the wings, you must... They're not on the menu but I happened to be sitting down wind of a plate one afternoon and had the pleasure of their scent wafting my way... Upon asking about their existence... I learned the wife made them from the mother in laws recipe... They can adjust the heat but I say go for it... This place will cure whatever ails you... And put a big smile on your face in the process... My faves.... Pho Tom and I believe it's called shaken beef.... YUM

I have been here several times since they opened. I was so excited to see another Vietnamese restaurant in semi-rural Virginia. The menu has really expanded since inception and their pho broth is very good. I usually get the spring rolls and they are tasty. The last time I went I got pho ga and the broth was fantastic!! I have to say I did get their house pho once and I was underwhelmed, but it has really improved. Am going there tonight for dinner.

Nothing was spectacular but nice comfortable interior and friendly wait staff. Water had earthy taste. =( Table condiment containers needed to be wiped clean. Fried noodles were too thin and crisp. Stirfry had a tad too much soy sauce but was good otherwise. Usual boring summer rolls. Pork combination... shredded pork comes cold dry and has no flavor, pork cake is familiar and luke warm, grilled pork chop nicely marinated but too thin with lots of bone and tough fat. Wasn't tempted to stay for dessert though earlier I had eyed one to try.

A little far for me but good if you're in the area! The waitor/waitresses that we got were all English-speaking and understood everything (uncommon in the pho restaurants I go to, apparently)! I'm pretty picky when it comes to pho - I like it without cilantro and green onions, but I still want my white onions. I ordered my pho and got it how I wanted it. Usually at other pho restaurants, I end up with a bowl of broth, noodles and beef, but they kept my white onions! Yay! The broth was sweeter than what I'm used to but still good.

My husband and I visited Pho Ha Linh with friends shortly after the restaurant was opened. The staff were all extraordinarily pleasant and helpful and the egg rolls were absolutely delicious. I enjoyed my pho, save for the somewhat overly fatty broth. It wasn't the best pho I've ever had, but it was passable and certainly pretty good for something in town that I could have on a regular basis. We visited a few more times, sometimes just my husband and I, and sometimes with different friends. My husband has tried some non-pho entrees--nothing remarkable at all--and I always order pho. Each visit, I noticed a slight decline in the quality of the pho, though the egg rolls have stayed consistently yummy. We ordered take-out a couple of months ago, and I found the pho broth to be pretty unappetizing...murky tasting and unflavorful, and the rice noodles were drastically undercooked, so the texture of the soup was not pleasant either. I chalked it up to an off day, but with an edge of concern given the decline I had been observing. A week ago, I got take-out again. My usual order of pho with flank steak and tendon with an order of egg rolls and an order of autumn rolls to share with my husband. It was, by far, one of the worst meals I have ever had, with one exception: the egg rolls were as delicious as they have ever been. The pho broth tasted like was cooked inside of a dirty trash can. I would have preferred it to have been flavorless. It was barely seasoned (which, I'm grateful for, because enhancing this flavor would have been a crime against my palate), and tasted more like moth balls than anything edible I could try and describe. The flank steak smelled rancid upon further inspection, after eating a bite unknowingly. The tendon appeared to have been cut by sandpaper. The texture from cutting was, um, confusing. I'm not even sure how to describe it. And when submerged into the broth, became a gelatinous booger mass. It was vile. The worst part of the meal was, by far, the autumn rolls. I've had many incarnations of this simple dish, and have never really been disappointed with even the most unremarkable autumn rolls. Pho Ha Linh's autumn rolls are an abomination. The best I can describe the flavor of the meat is to equate it to the taste of burned foot hair. Not just burned hair, but burned hair from a part of the body that has extra sweat and a distinct unsavory odor. My husband, who will eat nearly anything on the planet, actually took one bite and threw his away. I've seen him eat leftovers with mold on it and not even notice until I slap it out of his hand, and then still go back to eat it because "we've paid for it!" If he can eat that, and he throws away the autumn rolls from Pho Ha Linh, to me, that's the real test of how gross they are. Even with our very differing palates (I'm a snob, he's a garbage disposal), we are in complete agreement that we will never answer the other's question of "where should we go for dinner?" with Pho Ha Linh. It's all of 5 miles to Pho Gourmet in Manassas, where they have great food with prompt service and hearty servings, a much more varied menu, and lower prices. Worth the drive, in my opinion.

I'm a bit disappointed at this restaurant. Sure it's better than the one around the corner but that, unfortunately, isn't saying much. The flavors are decent which is why I'm giving it 2 stars. However quantity of food/ingredients is where I was expecting the normal fare. Had they made this into a chic, modern Vietnamese restaurant with like accompanied atmosphere and presentation then everything would make sense. However it isn't - this is more your standard Vietnamese restaurant with your standard dishes. They charge a bit more or about the same as places in Chantilly and Falls Church but give you less. e.g., about 1/2 the chicken than I normally get when I order the grilled lemon grass chicken or the amount of beef, tendons, etc in pho. Also the blatant up-selling tactics of the servers were annoying although to be fair, they didn't all try to do that.

Pho Ha Linh is very good. I've been there several times, but I am just now getting to write a review. My standby Vietnamese dish (bun thit nuong cha gio) is good here. The veggies are crisp and fresh, the nuoc mam is tasty, and the serving of grilled pork is generous. My only complaint is that I would love a second spring roll, but it's plenty of food for the price as-is! The pho here is also tasty, as is the bubble tea. The only thing item I have disliked here is the goi cuon, I'm just not a fan of chicken in the roll! Service is always friendly and fast and prices are reasonable. I'll keep coming back.

My husband and I visited this restaurant last night for the first time. The place was very clean and the service was prompt and friendly. First off, their eggrolls were amazing. We enjoyed them so much it set a high standard for our meals which were tasty but not mind blowing or particularly unique in flavor or quality. I enjoyed my Pho but my husband wasn't impressed with his beef & rice meal. We will definitely check it out again to sample more of the menu... they are new & perhaps we didn't pick meals that they excel at.

I visited this place last week with friends. Upon entering the place, I was immediately surprised by how big and spacious the place was. It also appeared to be (and actually was) very clean, which is always a good thing for a restaurant, right? Now for the food... it was AMAZING. As part of their grand opening special, we were treated to a free serving of egg rolls (fried) which were freshly cooked (piping hot!), really crispy and well-seasoned. Try it, you won't be disappointed! For a healthier roll, get the fresh rolls. Generous servings and fresh - a meal in itself. The dipping sauce was really good too. Finally, I ordered the Pho Ha Linh (which was, for me, the clear choice because it was the name of the restaurant!) and was so happy about it. The broth was not watered down, which is almost always the case in other pho places in DC. It was really tasty and deserved a five star rating by itself. The roast beef that was in the soup was so tender, as well as the tripe and all of the other yummy stuff in the bowl! Overall, I was really pleased with the food and would definitely go back for more.

I don't know why this place has such good reviews, I went here the other night for dinner and was not impressed at all. Maybe it's because of the restaurant atmosphere, but the service was poor and the food lacked flavor. The egg rolls, the broth and even the kids fried rice all tasted bland. My friends 6 yr old son was trying to add salt and pepper to his fried rice to make it taste better lol. I will not be returning here again....while we were here eating I was wishing that we would have went to Pho Sapa instead.

My boyfriend persuaded me to come here and when we got there it was empty. Maybe it was the time since we went early afternoon (not sure to be honest). The employees were talkative and friendly. My boyfriend ordered pho tai, chin, gan, sach. The pho broth was not well seasoned and rather bland compared to other pho restaurants I have been to. The cuts of the meat were nicely trimmed and thin - not too thick and chewy and the amount they give you in the pho was perfect. The meat made up for the lack of flavor. I ordered the com tam bi, suon, cha. The dish had a lot of meat and vegetables and it was very tasty. Overall, the pricing was slightly higher than other pho restaurants (only by a 2-3 dollars). The decor was nice and the restaurant was spacious. It was like any other typical Vietnamese restaurant with a television set and bar.

I stopped by for dinner by myself. Sat at the bar so I could watch ESPN which was on the television. A little difficult because of the lights that hang over by the bar, but it didn't matter because the guy working behind the bar was pretty entertaining on his own. When I say "bar" do not get the impression that this is a full (alcoholic) bar. Maybe someday? I had an iced Vietnamese latte, which was delicious. I also had their spring rolls (which I know as summer rolls, as they are the uncooked variety). They were yummy as well. For my entree I had Bún Tôm Nng. It was delicious too. The guy working behind the bar was personable, helped me pronounce my dish, chatted with me some, and even got me water without my asking. I look forward to going back and actually having the Pho! Nice dining room. The Vietnamese pop on the sound system might have been a tad loud, but that also might have something to do with where I was sitting. The serving staff seemed younger (I'm 47), and very personable and helpful. This is a place I will visit again!!

I'm a Vietnamese and I don't think this is the best Pho I've had. Pho here is okay, nothing special, actually it lacks characteristic flavour of Pho (might be too little spicies). If you want to have the true Pho, go to Pho Bistro in Centreville. However, Pho Ha Linh offers the BEST of the BEST RICE I've ever had. You must try rice here, I love the sauce (and I'm telling you guys hardly find another place that has the sauce as good as this). Pork is very soft and more than delicious. Other than that, service is very professional. Waiter/waitress will come and ask if everything is okay once in a while. Tips: don't order seaafood noodles, worst. You will regret it. I think it's bad because I can make it at home in 5 mins, very simple steps with cheap ingredients.

A very clean and enjoyable experience. The staff is very friendly and the food was served promptly. My wife and I love pho a lot so this place is definitely going to get visited again.

The broth here is divine and tasty. Spring rolls were excellent and did not taste greasy like most places i order from. The restaurant atmosphere is very relaxing. Service was quick and very friendly! I would definitely go back

I am pretty new to Vietnamese food so am just trying out a few places. The restaurant felt bright and welcoming. I walked in and headed towards the bar to place a takeout order. As I approached the server asked me if I was picking up an order. I replied no, I would be placing a takeout order. He handed me a menu and poured me a glass of ice water. I was impressed, can't say I've had that happen before. I ordered the vegetarian rolls and the shrimp pho. I got it home and was really intrigued by the rolls, there was something in there I'd never had before. Upon reviewing the menu I guess it's taro. :-) I like. :-) The dipping sauce was great too. The pho was very good. I could have maybe used a little more Thai basil & cilantro. But it was still a very satisfying bowl. I plan to return.

Update time, we went in a bit ago, and they now have a nice selection of beers. The place seems a bit fuller, it definitely is catching on in the area. The service still rapid and personable. Still our go to spot on chilly days!

This restaurant opened up about 2 weeks ago, they have a special with any entree purchased you get a free egg roll and a soda. The restaurant is very clean and spacious. Servers were very polite, but enough about the area, I rated it at a 2 because I'm used to getting my egg rolls with cucumbers, lettuce and marinated radish and carrots. This came with 1/3 of a lettuce leaf. I ordered the seafood pho and I was very dissappointed, it didn't have that same sweet and satisfying taste. Needless to say all I ate was the shrimp and that cost 10.95. I'm also used to getting bean sprouts, lime, and Thai basil. Well it came with bean sprouts and one lime, but no basil :(. I guess you have to ask for it.... My hubby got the Bun Bo, he was also dissappointed because their portions are small and everything was cold, noodles normally come cold, but the meat shouldn't.. Poor guy was still hungry when we left. I don't know if I'm willing to give them a second chance yet, I guess we will see the next time I crave for it... Probably not because it didn't hit the spot the first time. Sorry Pho Ha Linh.

Disappointed! Pho was terrible. The base was light and bland. Not sure what was floating around but appeared that they heavily use powder for the base. Left me with a bad after taste for several hours. Don't waste your time and money. I know what good Pho is and this is no where close.

I visited this place about a month ago. Since then, I repeated my visit three times. I wasn't a big fan of Pho but this place is good. Service was good. Establishment was clean. Casual atmosphere. The food was very tasty. One of the best Pho restaurants in the area for sure.

My husband and I got the beef Pho and it was delicious! The garden roll was very fresh...you can tell by the amount of stickiness in the rice paper. The stickier, the better. It reminds me of how my mother used to make it! The service was great! Our server checked on us multiple times and our waters were always filled. She was definitely nicer than the server at Saigon Crepes (Yikes!) We will definitely make this restaurant our regular stop!
