Pops Diner Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Nothing fancy, nothing cheap. Stay away from "The Romanian" as it is a rip off. Don't drive out of your way to go here. You are better off eating at Broken Egg Bistro, or what is also known as Bistro 501

I ate at Pops Diner today for the very first time...Loved my biscuits and gravy and LOVED the sweet tea. Actually, I just LOVE anything southern. Our waiter was very nice and on top of things. In a heartbeat, I'd LOVE to return and try their other dishes.

I've only been here twice, and gotten breakfast both times... so I can't judge their lunch or dinner. Food is decent -- it's along the lines of a pared-down Ihop or Denny's. Nothing special, but not bad. Can't really mess up bacon and eggs. The waffles are nice and fluffy... but the french toast was lacking - too mushy. For some reason, they served my orange juice in a tiny, styrofoam cup.

This was FAR from good, the service was better than the food. I won't go back..but I'm glad I tried it out.

So so. Nothing spectacular. The French toast was very disappointing.

I've always wanted to try this place and finally did. But it's ok....nothing that really set it off. I'll probably give it another try....before 2012 lol

The servers are good, friendly, and fast. The food is not so good. Had the Chicken and Dumplings, the chicken had Lemon Pepper spice all over. So unless you like Lemon Pepper this would not be a recommendation from me. May try again for their breakfast, I saw a few folks with their version of skillet breakfast, and they looked good.

After driving by this place a bazillion times, we finally decided to "pop" in for dinner...yes, I am that cheesy. You could hear the crickets when we walked in, so getting a table was easy. Let me start off by saying that our server, Michelle, was fabulous. Soooo on top of our soda refills, and genuine quality checks...great work Michelle! Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. We started with the mozzarella sticks, which were pretty good, but your typical frozen stick versus hand cut. The hubbs had the fried catfish dinner, and he said it was okay...not really any seasoning or anything special, but he still finished his entire plate. I had the dinner feature, and forgive me if I get the name wrong, but you will see it and know what I am talking about. I believe it was called pastitsio, and was described as a Greek lasagna. I tried a nibble...straight cinnamon. I tried salt, pepper, and even ketchup, but it couldn't disguise what tasted like a cup of cinnamon, in an ice cold, mushy pastry of some sort. Thankfully it came with a lovely Greek salad and pita bread, so I gobbled that up. I will say that the portion sizes were large, and the prices were über cheap. As we walked out, we noticed ALOT of awards on the wall, but they all looked like they were for breakfast, so maybe we will try it again. Perhaps it was just the wrong meal to choose...our bad ;)

The food is great. The service is fast. The people are friendly. I would definitely go back!

very nice management and staff, I had the tomato basil omelette and it was very good

I read all of the Sunday reviews about it being crowded, but as long as you get to Pops before 9:30 you miss the church crowd. The food was going and the service was great...I would come again.

GREAT SERVICE!!! One of the best burgers I have had and our server accommodated all of our needs. The Cajun chicken salad was very good as well. My wife didn't enjoy the dish she ordered and they immediately took it back and got her something different that she enjoyed very much. I would definitely recommend Pop's Diner.

We were seated immediately upon arrival Sunday morning which was great. However, it was clear within the first ten mins that our server was not very experienced. He had to go check on ingredients, and was not very timely in the beginning (although admittedly was as nice and helpful as could be throughout the rest of our meal). The food was very good! We got basic breakfast food (pancakes, waffles, French toast) and found them all to be delicious and well-portioned. I also enjoyed the coffee which they had people circling to regularly refill. Would definitely come back.

I had the pancakes with scrambled eggs & cheese and turkey sausage. The food was ok. The pancakes were very rubbery and the turkey sausage were a little tough. The customer service at this place was very good though! My server was very attentive and super friendly. The hostesses were friendly and professional also. I would visit again but it def won't be my first choice for breakfast food.

Finally got to visit Pops Diner for breakfast. The location was clean, the staff was friendly and attentive. The price was fair and competitive with the local options. The food was average at best. There was nothing in prep or taste to make it stand out or exceed the other local establishments, in Hampton Roads. Pops is worth a try, as a change of pace, but, not a destination worth planning to visit.

Tried Pop's for the first time today and was frankly underwhelmed. I ordered the Country Fried Steak breakfast and though it was okay, for the price we paid I was expecting a bit more than "unobjectionable." Hubster ordered a burger and he said it was decent but probably not worth the price we paid. Overall, an okay place but the dearth of options, price, and overall quality will probably keep us from coming back.

I came back here for lunch with a coworker and ordered the fish and chips again, despite not having a good experience with the dish the first time around. Definition of insanity, I know. This second visit was worse, with the way-too-thick pieces of fish being undercooked. The fries and coleslaw didn't taste fresh. I pointed out the undercooked fish to the server and the manager came by the table to apologize and offer me a milkshake, which I passed on since I lost my appetite. They ended up comping my meal, which was a nice gesture. I probably won't be coming back, but if I do, I'll stick to the breakfast foods next time.

I have three little boys so I chose to eat here because kids eat free. Once I sat down though I saw that they only eat free for each paying adult. I was the only one with them so we only got one free kids meal. Food is okay but it's hard to mess up eggs and toast. I didn't feel the food was anything special. The atmosphere is more like any chain restaurant rather than a real East Coast dining room. Although I did appreciate the oldies music. The bill for one adult and two small children and one baby for breakfast with tip was $21. I could've done better at Starbucks.

Typical breakfast fare served all day. I like how this place is classier than your typical Denny's and IHOP, not that it's hard to beat now. When I came here tonight for some brinner (breakfast for dinner), the place was pretty quiet. The booths are huge and can fit maybe 10 people max. I came here with my friend and her 4 kids since kids get to eat for free at nights (10 and under, I think). You can't beat a deal like that! Our waitress did a great job keeping our glasses filled with water and she took the time to help my friend dispense some ketchup to her 6 year old. I ended up ordering eggs, bacon, toast, hash brown. Everything was pretty good. I wished my hash browns were cooked more, but that's just my personal preference.

Went here on July 3rd morning around 10:30. We were a party of 2. Wait was 25 minutes to be seated but sat for another 25-30 for breakfast to be served. I mean it's breakfast not a gourmet meal. Service was friendly and apologetic but didn't make us any less hungry. Food arrived. It was good but how can you screw up breakfast? Bottom line, if you arrive and the host tells you 25 minutes to be seated expect it to be an hour before you get your food...

We have never been disappointed with Pops! Great food, great servers, and great service!

Went for breakfast after some locals told me about this place. Was expecting some good local food but instead got something worse than the free buffet at my hotel. Ordered the French Toast combo and was served after like 3 minutes of ordering; that should've told me something was not right, I even jokes with waitress that she just took it off the microwave. The bacon was not crispy and cold, obviously was fried a while back. Ordered my eggs over easy and got over medium. French toast was soggy, I suppose it was also just hanging there waiting for someone to order it. At least the canned/jarred orange juice was cold and the coffee warm (but really weak). Oh well, another one scratched off my "to go" places in Chesapeake.

  • DORIAN D.

They have the best breakfast skillets in town. I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The service is courteous and the foods is good. They keep the place clean, as well.

    (4)
  • Tracy U.

Good food and nice casual atmosphere. Here on Veterans Day and surprised they don't support it.

    (4)
  • Cristy D.

Great food. Friendly service. Everything is fresh and homemade. The skillets are delicious. If you want good breakfast. Come here!

    (5)
  • Stephen C.

First, the food appears as if it comes off a Sysco truck. The skillets are not cooked on a skillet. The warmed ingredients are piled onto a room-temperature piece of metal, which is placed on a standard plate. You'd be much happier down the street at Broken Egg or another Chesapeake breakfast place. Second, don't give your friends and family gift certificates because they are only redeemable in $10 increments. That means that if your meal cost $11 and you hand your server two $10 gift certificates, they will take both and say, "Thank you!" When this happened to me, I was surprised and certain a mistake had been made-- I did not intend to give a $9 tip on an $11 meal. The manager came over and acted like I was trying to rip off the store. He said that "no cash value" means that you cannot redeem partial gift certificates and retain partial credit; to me, "no cash value" means I cannot bring the certificate into the store to exchange for "cash." Eventually, he accepted my offer to pay the $1 and tip myself and he wrote me out a new certificate. It's evident to me that this store cuts corners in food quality and service to make a profit. I will only go once more-- to spend one of my remaining certificates and sell the the other three for $9 each out front. So, if you disagree with my first point, and you plan on going back, come get my gift certificates.

Love this place, ate here after a 7 month deployment! Food was solid and the staff was super friendly! I am moving here and plan on coming back. The Bloody Mary was awesome! Slice of bacon in it! Woo hoo!

    (4)
  • Michael M.

Everything was good here. I had the pancake combo, 3 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 strips of bacon. My food was cooked as I had requested and it tasted fine so no complaints there. The pancakes are big but thin. They did fill me up though so they did what they were supposed to do. I had a chocolate and peanut butter shake to drink and it was like drinking a Reese's through a straw. I have had many great shakes and I would put this in my top 3 easily. The service was good and the place was clean.

  • Kailyn S.

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend and our 2 local friends. The menu is extensive, breakfast, lunch, and dinner but without a main focus on any type of food (a true jack of all trades). I was in the mood for lunch so I had the Reuben which typically comes with either the soup of the day or French fries. I was in the mood for chicken tortilla soup which was the soup of the day or French fries so I requested the roasted red potatoes. Our waitress happily accommodated my request and the requests of the other 3 members of my party. The food looked great! And it tasted great! My red potatoes were a little under seasoned but nothing a little salt couldn't fix. My boyfriend was a little hungover from the night before and was a little hard on our waitress and after apologizing several times she still shrugged it off and kept her smiling bubbly positive attitude! A for service A for food and A for good timing! :)

I paid 15$ for mediocre food and mediocre service. I agree with everyone else that you can get your money's worth at IHOP. Just go kt Cracker Barrel or Broken Egg avoid here at all costs you've been warned!!!

  • Brian G.

What a great place to enjoy a nice, home-cooked meal! Friendly service and great value. Welcoming smiles and pleasant aromas everywhere! Truly love this place! If you are still searching for that family-friendly place, here it is!

The last time I visited Pops a couple of years ago I remember being a bit disappointed in my meal. This last time, however, was pretty fantastic - more reminiscent of other visits I can recall. I was surprised at how quiet it was there on an evening in the peak of holiday shopping season. This place really should be packed all the time! The portions are huge, but certainly not to make up for any lack of flavor. The prices are reasonable and service is super friendly.

    (4)
  • Paul G.

A go to place when No One will make a Decision. Breakfast ALWAYS available. I prefer the French Toast Combo. Sandwiches are great. alA staffer is always coming along offering refills. Kid friendly. Reasonable prices. Clean. Salads. Something for everyone.

  • Martin R.

Food was excellent and the service was even better. Could not have picked a better place for dinner. Will definitely return next time in Norfolk.

    (5)
  • Lee T.

This place is fantastic. The service was outstanding, food is amazing and more than enough left over for the next day. Can't wait to come back.

  • Alicen H.

Waffles are delicious! I find this place usually has less of a wait than Bob Evans which is right next door. I've only had breakfast items here but it's always delicious. The waiters are always extremely courteous and quickly deliver your food! The waffles are delicious.

    (4)
  • Nicolette M.

Left without the satisfaction of a GOOD breakfast. Had a breakfast burrito that a can of mushrooms and jimmy dean would have been better. The service was good and quick. The location itself is great and could lend itself to a higher quality of food. I say this because if your gonna call it Pop's go with the theme instead of making seem like you've walked into a smaller IHOP/Denny's. I would have gone with a true home feel and cut up some tomatoes and mushrooms, instead of a can. It was clean and like I said the service was great.

  • Marisa E.

I have lived here for many years but never thought to stop in. Cracker Barrel didn't have any parking spots, so we decided to give Pop's Diner a try. I'm so glad we did! My strawberry waffle was perfection, and my son ate for free! The service was good and the food and coffee HOT. We'll definitely be back.

Everything was fresh and delicious I think this will be one of m yregulars when I come back here again. Great atmosphere friendly waitress. I had a western omelette and my husband had French toast.

    (4)
  • Adam H.

If you like saunas you will love this place, it had to be at least 85° in the dinning room. Service was fast though that did not make up for the greasy food we recieved. The servers were extremely nice and helpful but $30 for two people was not exactly worth it.

    (3)
  • Tanya C.

One of my fav places for breakfast & kids eat free...love the omelettes & hash browns ...

    (5)
  • KM R.

Great little place with a great story behind it. Tried it for the first time on Sunday, will definitely go back. The waffles are AMAZING!!!!! It's basic fare, nothing fancy but definitely worth it for breakfast or brunch! Service & seating were very fast & helpful. The employees all seem genuinely happy to be there. Glad we found this place!!!!!!

  • Felice R.

First off let me start I was so excited to see a nice well kept place like this by my house, but then it went all down hill the second I took my first bite. Don't get me wrong you can't base everything on a fist opinion but I have given this place several chances to change it. The plates have a nice presentation But white gravy has a funky taste you cannot come back from, sandwiches that are extremely lackluster and a bit over priced considering you can go to IHOP and get food much better than this on their worst day.

    (1)
  • Shannon B.

Absolutely love it here. Great food and service every time! Love their bloody Mary's.

    (4)
  • Letise D.

Kids Eat Free is nice, but beware they charge $2 to add chocolate chips to pancakes. The Skillet was good, but that's about it. Ordered the Omelette, but it had sliced packaged cheese and was too dry to eat. They replaced it with a Wrap (which was ok), but still charged me. I guess it was typical diner food, but I had expected better based on ratings on here.

    (2)
  • Michelle B.

Nice place. Nice wait staff. Not a diner experience if that is what you are looking for. Like others it's a upscale Denny's at most. I ordered the bacon tomato grilled cheese melt. Husband ordered a sausage omelette.

    (3)
  • Jeff K.

Eggs were watery, CB Hash was canned, Hash Browns were burnt on the outside and cool and pasty in the middle. Toast very dry like the wrapper was open all, night. Link Sausage was excellent, great service.

    (2)
  • Tammy S.

We both had breakfast. Beats IHOP. Cleaner, smells better. Big salads. I like the chef salad. Used to be on Restaurant.com . No more. Don 't know of anyplace that has coupons. We usually have occasional family functions here. Convenient, right off interstate. If you are traveling, it's a good place to stop. Thumbs up!

    (4)
  • Danielle Y.

The food is hit or miss with this place. It's normally very bland. Sometimes the food will taste like the grease that everything else was cooked in and the water always tastes like dirt. Some of the servers don't care, some do. I cannot justify going here again and again and ending up with a 50/50 shot of walking out satisfied. Time for a new place.

    (2)
  • Paul L.

Great breakfast food servers are always walking around refilling coffee and water. Bloody Mary's are great even comes with a strip of bacon in it. Price maybe a little higher but worth every penny. Not that Sysco crap u get at most diners. Lots of seating and very friendly staff.

    (5)
  • AliciaandDominico W.

Again, I wish they had 3.5 stars! This place is pretty good...our food has always been good... the service has been pretty decent. My husband's pet peeve - they serve the tomato juice in itty bitty little glasses...he asks for a big glass and even acknowledges that they can charge him more, but they won't do it... also..the one at lynnhaven always had an eggs benedict breakfast, this one doesn't.

    (3)
  • Devin F.

This place is my go-to eatery in Chesapeake. Breakfast is awesome (omelets are huge and filling), burgers are nice and juicy (BBQ burger is the best), and the dinners are large portions but they definitely do not sacrifice quality for quantity! The staff is always friendly and helpful. The music is always on point!

    (5)
  • Chad T.

This place had sort of a Denny's feel to it. I ordered the battered fish and fries. It was decent, but nothing special. They do give you plenty though, I was not able to finish everything on my plate.

    (3)
  • C. B.

It's good, clean, fast service. Comfort food. Only tried breakfast, need to come back for lunch or dinner next.

Years ago I ate at the Pop's Diner in Virginia Beach and I remember is being pretty good. Tonight I ate at Pop's Diner in Chesapeake and the food was just terrible. Chicken Tenders tasted like they were leftover and heated up in a microwave. Usually it's hard to mess up a simple dish like chicken tenders, but Pop's Diner found a way. My mother's country fried steak also tasted microwaved, and the gravy on her dish had a gross film like substance over it. I would have complained, but I didn't really have a specific complaint other than the food tasted very poor. Only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because the hostess and waitress were both pleasant and friendly.

    (2)
  • Ben D.

My first visit, and only one so far, to Pop's was for breakfast with my wife. I had the Cajun Omelette, and she had the Belgian Waffle. The food was good without any frills. The coffee wasn't as strong as I like, but that's a pretty minor complaint. If we're in the Greenbrier area in the early morning, I would come back.

    (3)
  • Alan S.

When I first started eating at pops it was really really good. But it seems over the year the food quality has diminished. I'll will probably give them another try but they aren't my go to breakfast location like they were.

    (4)
  • Carrie L.

3.5! Wish there were half stars, Yelp! This was my first time here, but my parents apparently go here for dinner all the time. My stepmom brought her own creamer today because they only offer half and half - kinda strange but maybe due to budget. The food was typical breakfast diner food. Nothing awful, nothing A+++. It was good, our bellies were happy. I had the gravy and biscuits and also ordered the huge fruit plate for us all to share which was a great idea. The meal was good. My stepmom had a delicious looking waffle that she really enjoyed. The location was clean. Kind of disappointed that we were seated at a table vs. a booth when plenty were available. It is what it is though. Will definitely try here again sometime and try a different meal and update review.

I've been to Pop's diner twice before and each time I came I was pleased with the service and the food. I prefer mom and pop shops over chains, however, my kids love this place and the food is good. The prices aren't so bad either. On this day, I came here with my daughter before my appointment with my gynecologist. Oh, how we ladies love getting our special area checked annually by ice cold speculums and probes. So exciting.... I needed a boost to get my mind right, so why not grab some yummy breakfast beforehand with my mini-me? The hostess quickly seated us and our waitress arrived to our tables with our menus within seconds. Our meal arrived in less than 10 minutes. It was hot and smelled fabulous. The french toast was perfect! The fruit cup was fresh. My daughter enjoyed her waffle. We both ordered home fries but there was so much of it that we only needed one order to split. We barely ate the home fries. That was the only thing that was left remaining on our plates. I guess we were just to full from throwing down on everything else. I'll definitely be returning here. I love that they offer free meals for kids daily. That's fantastic!

    (4)
  • Sheila S.

FREE FOR KIDS! My family and I came on a Sunday and were introduced to their "Sunday Menu." I've never been here before, so it was a traditional brunch place. I ordered the waffle platter and it was pretty good. We got a little bit of everything on their menu and it's just a great place to go have a quick brunch with your family. There wasn't much that stood out to me on their menu. They do have corn beef hash for those who love to eat it, and bread pudding which I was too full to try. Overall, great place for a quick brunch after church =]

    (4)
  • Bruce K.

Mmm... diner. Generally, the best options for breakfast and as it was 7:30 in the morning, breakfast is what it was going to be. I chose the corned beef hash and eggs, which arrived with a very big portion of corned beef hash that was more corned beef than hash. Poached eggs that were perfectly soft after I carefully scooped them from the bowls so as to avoid spilling water on my home fries. Service was great. I sat there for a good half hour poking away on my laptop (writing Yelp reviews, if you must know) while my waitress refilled my coffee cup to the point where I couldn't type from too much caffeine. Good coffee. Totally recommend Pop's. BTW, good spot for meetings. Some sort of breakfast meeting/training session was going on in the side room.

  • Joyce A.

I really like the idea of this, with its theme and the atmosphere. I think it could be a little better, though. It doesn't have much of a diner feel--it definitely looks like any other restaurant chain. But the service was good, and everyone was friendly. The food was good. My boyfriend and I both got waffles. We're big fans of places that serve breakfast all day. I loved the presentation of the food. And it tasted really good. I honestly don't think there was anything really spectacular about it, but I enjoyed my meal and wouldn't mind going back.

    (3)
  • Jasmine M.

Everything I've tried here has tasted pretty good and kids eat free everyday!! (1 child per adult) the staff is very friendly & welcoming as soon as you enter which makes for a very delightful atmosphere/experience. The Woody's bread pudding is really good (very buttery) it reminds me more of a french toast casserole, still good nonetheless.

    (5)
  • Aiden B.

Not bad, but not all that great either. Atmosphere left a lot to be desired. Service was fast and friendly. Food was okay, nice variety though... I'll give them another try at some point...

  • Rina C.

Went in there with big anticipation, ordered the waffles meal which was with eggs and bacon. I also ordered a side bowl of fruits. The waffles had great flavor but I didn't seem to like the eggs that much. They were a bit too oily for me. The small bowl of fruit only had 3 pineapple pieces, 4 grapes, and a billion strawberries. Wish there was more of a mix on the fruits. They do have mimosas for those that drink. I will maybe go back and try a lunch entree and see if I change my mind about the place.

I enjoy diners, crisp, clean, bright and happy diners. Pop's has all of that plus friendly service, creative food and fair prices. We dropped in at 2pm which made us one of three tables in the dining room with patrons. Certainly that made it easier for Rochelle to keep us happy, I'll give you that. But she did more than keep us happy, she interacted with us. With encouragement from Rochelle I ordered a cup of Fasolatha (Greek navy bean soup) with the turkey cranberry wrap. The soup was hot and delicious. I made note of all the ingredients so I can reproduce it on my own kitchen, it was that good. The Turkey cranberry wrap also had candied nuts in it which gave it a nice sweet crunch. My husband was very happy with his classic Rueben. When we were leaving Rochelle offered us water 'to-go', which is what we were drinking. What a lovely touch. I know this place is hopping during regular dining hours. If you want what we got, go at 2:00.

  • Amber D.

We had a coupon for this place, and really enjoyed our quiet meal out! The staff was great, the place was very clean and comfortable, and there were TONS of options to choose from. The portions were large, and there was plenty of leftovers for later...nice little bonus! My husband got the Classic Reuben meal, and loved every bite of it...and yes, he ate the WHOLE thing! Which is actually no small feat, since they really do give gigantic portions?! LOL! I was kind of glad they had the option of a breakfast served all day sort of a thing, because the french toast combo sounded really good...and it was just that REALLY good!

It takes a lot to make great breakfast food away from home. The handful of times that I have been here the service has always been very good. The food, on the other hand, is average in taste WITHOUT the greasy spoon taste that many chain breakfast restaurants offer. The first time I dined here I had waffles. You can't really ruin waffles. They were tasty but could have been a little crisper. The next time I went I asked if they could cook them a little longer so they would be a little more crisp. They didn't come out crisp at all, but the taste was still good. Another time I had country fried steak. This is not the place to order that dish. The dish was served promptly and was plated well, but it was rather bland. I would not order again. This last time that I went, my daughter and I each had a plate of potato skins. They were pretty good with a lot of potato and less skin. They could have stood to be a little more crisp. The children eat free with a paying adult is a wonderful policy. It's not something you see much of anymore. One thing I do give them props for is that the dishes are made with fresh ingredients and you can tell when you eat it. A little seasoning on some foods would make a vast improvement. I should mention that the portion sizes are ample and you won't leave hungry. It's not a place that I am eager to dine at, but I won't say no if others want to come here and eat.

  • Danielle K.

I'd give this place three and a half stars if I could. The food is hit or miss but it is usually decent. I love salads but theirs are not good. They do not have a good selection for those of us who eat gluten free, and there is no GF menu so you have to sort through the menu on your own and ask questions. Their potato skins are quite good and that is what I usually get. The garlic bacon cheese fries are delicious (be prepared for lots of garlic!) and the serving is HUGE. My husband tries a different sandwich almost every time we go and he said the same thing I think... They are hit or miss. Some are great and some are bad. He has raved that all of the breakfast stuff has been wonderful. The service is generally good and of all the times we have been there, we have only had poor service once. They have a full bar, but we go early in the day and have never had alcoholic beverages with our meals. I would like to point out that most restaurants who include a "recommended tips" guide on the bottom of the receipts calculate based on food cost (subtotal) alone and they calculate based on food + tax. Servers who tip out do so based on food sales, not food sales plus tax. I assume this was an honest mistake, but having worked in the hospitality industry for quite a while myself in Orlando I know that this is not the correct way to calculate a tip. They should correct this oversight.

Love love love pops!!! Bloody Mary's are the best in Chesapeake. I usually get the biscuits and gravy with cheesy scrambled eggs which are delicious!! The service is super friendly and welcoming. Restaurant is always clean and foods always served hot:)

My family and I stopped into Pop's a couple of nights ago for dinner. We were looking for a new place to try that was kid friendly and saw Pop's. The food was just ok. Nothing special. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. I had the pesto chicken sandwich and my husband had the chicken pot pie. My sandwich was good. It came on a pretzel bun that was, however, completely flattened. It also came with roasted potatoes that seemed to have been made earlier in the day and reheated. My husband didn't have any complaints about his pot pie. Will we be back? Maybe...but it definitely wouldn't be our first choice.

Great, no nonsense breakfast and more joint. Clean with good service, the food was all yummy and servings were impressive. I had the Destroyer skillet plus gravy and the sausage was the big winner. Pancakes and waffles were tasty and the fruit plate looked impressive.

I've always loved pops diner. It's a clean, nice, neat, little spot in greenbrier. I've had their breakfast and dinner, but never lunch but needless to say, it's all good. Price wise, they are good. I can't complain about the pieces at all. Bring your family here and just relax a little. Good eats!!!

KIDS EAT FREE!!!!!! Hands down best place for a casual meal!! Best service, they never rush you after you are finished eating. Clean restrooms and restaurant. I recommend the Homage chicken salad sandwich or the Pops breakfast combo, either way you get a platter of freshly prepared, delicious food!!! My Hubby and I are regulars!!

This is our go to family spot when we don't know where else to go. They offer "kids eat free" EVERYDAY! I always end up adding extra for the kiddos but the savings is still awesome. The staff are wonderful and help out when customers are not sure what to order. If you ever have a chance to try the chili when they have it....it is the best! I ordered a chili cheeseburger that was out of this world. IT was large, juicy, and full of flavor. Prices are reasonable and they offer a variety of home-style food...nothing fancy but quite tasty. I give 5 stars just for service but the other perks are bonuses.

I have NEVER been so excited about a diner before in my life. As far as they go though, this place is the best. I loved it here and wish they were local. The portions are large and everything I had was delicious. I even found the staff to be remarkable. If I ever travel down that way again I definitely plan to stop here at least once!

This place is awesome...I have not been to their other location, but there's no need!!! I usually go here for breakfast. But we have been here for lunch and dinner. ****1st and foremost KIDS EAT FREE EVERYDAY.....with purchase of an adult entree... Thats how we got hooked...parent to kid ratio is 2:2 so we really only pay for our stuff and drinks. Cant beat that. They're food is soooo delicious I'm embarrassed to admit it but every now and again I scarf my food down and wonder who was eatting off my plate. Their portions are enough to take home unless you're completely on Empty. I can't name everything Ive had bc my review would be long as heck...but I will say you cant go wrong with any eggs, pancakes, or waffle dishes. I try a different one each time. I only wish they would bring their fried okra back which my husband and kids loved. If you are in the greenbrier area...dont go to boring ol cracker barrel..try pops diner!!!

1). Entry/Hostess Friendly and welcoming setting what we thought was going to be a great dining experience. 2). Waitress/ Drinks The waitress brought us one coffee and two waters. The coffee cup had lipstick on it. Her response was "what, it's not your color?", highly unprofessional and very unsanitary. 3). Food Quality was poor. Nothing fresh, but not surprised. Fries were frozen and warm at first bite. Over salted. Chicken wrap had high amounts of fat cartilage. I hope you choose better.

It's a local thing in a commercial setting. The food is delicious & plentiful. I've been to the Beach location as well and the service and food is the same. There is enough staff to tend to your needs promptly. The food is fresh and served quickly. While I'll continue to patronize other locally owned eateries, I will most certainly be back here many, many more times.

meh. a greasy diner housed inside a slightly nicer building. They are shooting for a vintage vibe based on their menu but the ambiance made me think otherwise. I don't know how best to describe it......miss-matched? Nothing special. You can the same quality food from IHOP or Denny's (sorry but totally true) and pay less. It is crowded, the staff was nothing but bare minimum, fake-friendly, get-it-done, and their food was lackluster. I wouldn't waste my time again. I wouldn't say they are awful, just not worth the effort. If you live in the area- great! If you don't- don't drive more than 5 minutes.

Another excellent lunch this week. We skipped the breakfast menu and actually had lunch for lunch this time around and as always had an excellent meal. I tried a club sandwich which was just the right portion for lunch. I had 2 co-workers with me and had the Classic Reuben while the other had a Black & Blue Cowboy Burger. That looked pretty good and from what I can see it included a spicy hamburger topped with bleu cheese crumbles and onion rings, and a bleu cheese dressing. Pop's is definitely becoming a regular stop.

Our family reunion here in Chesapeake, VA brought us here from Chicago, IL. This is our first time here in the VA, its been fun. We came here for breakfast. The waffles looked great, they looked fluffy and had a great non traditional waffle design, kind of like a flower. My daughter and I loved it. I was even tempted to ask where they got the griddle to make the waffles that shape. I was disappointed after eating 2 bites of the waffle it was a bit rubbery, not the greatest texture or flavor. My daughter (6) didn't finish her half portion shared from mine. My husband's pancakes were the same flavor and rubbery just as well. It does not help one bit that on top of the rubbery texture and bland taste there is no authentic maple syrup. Just the artificial, high fructose kind. You would think breakfast is hard to mess up, its the easiest meal if the day, but here they mess up the best part of the meal, pancakes and waffles. Too bad. Overall, our server was very nice and patient. They had other items on the menu, so I am not judging the whole place cause of one meal, but I'll just say breakfast was just ok.

The food reminds you of the comfort food you will find in a diner in a small town. The portions was plentiful and has various types of food to choose from. Had breakfast food at 1:00 pm so it was cool they still served breakfast. Home fries are real potatoes sauté like country style cooking and the Waffles are Belgian. Hubby had fried catfish with grits and eggs. Haha! Where can you get that dish often. Fish was breaded in cornmeal so it stayed crunchy. Pretty good would definitely go back. Kids under 10 eat free everyday! That's the best part!!

I had the corned beef hash skillet which was pretty massively amazing, except it seemed like it was just one egg as opposed to two. And trust, it needed two. I mean, there was a mountain of home fries, topped by a mountain of the hash, and then there was the measly egg scattered about...but with lots of cheese. It was good, nonetheless. Just a bad ratio. The bread pudding, however, was THE BEST EVER. I will return exclusively for that. Breakfast can wait.
