I have just made the most amazing discovery: TACO. TUESDAYS. TACO TUESDAYS!!!! So on Tuesdays, they have tacos on special; beef, chicken, fish, and SHRIMP. Y'all. The shrimp tacos are AMAZING. They are FULL of juicy, bronzed shrimp, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and a citrus Baja sauce that is just killer. I know where I'll be on Tuesdays!!!!!

First time here. Wanted mussels but they had sold out. The cod bites 'bronzed' were very tasty! Sauce complemented them well. Fries were good and we all kept stealing them from the child lol. The steamed oysters were fine. Not bad but not awesome either. The hush puppies were a disappointment though. The butter sides were nice but you pay $3.95 for 6 of them. They weren't HOT, it was lukewarm. The peanut butter cake dessert was very good. Not too rich, good balance between cake and frosting layers. Staff was friendly, prices are comparable for other seafood in the area, and we will return to try more.

This is a decent restaurant and is probably great if you were to order a sandwich or some fried shrimp, but if you want fresh fish I would suggest going somewhere else. I had a tuna steak and my husband had salmon and it was obvious they were both previously frozen. Which is fine, but when I eat out at a seafood restaurant and pay $20 for an entree I'd like it to be fresh. On the positive side, the wait staff were very nice and it wasn't busy at all (on a Friday night) but I don't think I will be back.

Excellent service, atmosphere and food. Whether you are coming for a few drinks or want to sit down with family for nice affordable good dinner. This is the spot. They have awesome nighty specials.

Heard a lot about this place, good and not so good. We were pleasantly surprised. Nice family feel and the menu looked well rounded. Service was attentive and the food, though not speedily delivered, came out fresh and hot. The wait was not too long. Major compliments on the crab cake sandwich and the shrimp po boy sandwich. The fried oyster basket and the catfish basket portion sizes were a little small but really good. A really nice assortment of healthy sides like sauté spinach and broccoli were a nice addition. This is not a high end seafood restaurant BUT the food appears to be fresh, cooked with care, tasty and the staff attentive. We will try again.

Amazing place to go for drinks and music or bring the family for incredible seafood! Food is amazing, staff is incredible and the prices are below most other places that we've been to around here. The Shrimp/grits and the Steamer Special were without question the best seafood dinner in Virginia! LOTS of seafood places in Hampton Roads, just wish we found this place sooner because we would have made Reel In our weekly date night spot!

Be prepared for a long wait here. You'll wait for everything - to be seated, to have drink orders taken, and especially to get your food. On a not busy Tuesday night it took about 45 minutes to get our food. Pre-made side salad took 15 minutes to come out. It was certainly pre-made judging by the soggy croutons. The waitress started out nice enough. I think she thought her friendliness would compensate for the long wait. They are really quick to tell you that food is all fresh and cooked to order so the kitchen will take longer because they are prepping the fresh food. 1/2 pound of steamed shrimp, 2 sides of broccoli, medium rare tuna steak and cold hush puppies took 45 minutes to come out of the kitchen. Everything was overcooked. The waitress didn't bother to apologize for the wait and didn't bother to invite us back, but no worries, can't imagine anything that would make me want to come back.

I heard good things about Reel In before we finally tried it. We were not disappointed. We actually experienced the exact opposite of the initial reviewer. The waitstaff practically doted on us and the food was quick and delicious! Our friends told us to try the Reel In for weeks, but we held off for a while to be sure it wasn't just a fad. What we found was a fairly small restaurant, which quickly filled to capacity with a line out the door. I recommend arrival prior to 5pm, otherwise you'll need to make reservations. Our waitress Taylar was great. She never forgot about us, which often happens in other restaurants. She brought us everything we asked for and stayed close by. We started with "Reel In" Crab Dip for $9.95. It arrived warm and full of cream cheese goodness and blue crab. We had more crab dip then pita chips, which Taylar happily brought us more. For our entrees, my wife had a fried shrimp dinner, which came with about 10 butterfly shrimp that were lightly breaded and delicious. She got two sides of hush puppies and grits. The hush puppies are slightly spicy and grits are stone ground. The perfect grits for "shrimp and grits", which they do offer. One surprise was the very large salad on a chilled plate that comes standard with your two sides. My entree was the "Reel In" Seafood Feast for $24.95 and it is a feast. I got three butterfly shrimp and three fried oysters, 2 pieces of fish and a huge crab cake. I also got the grits and hush puppies with a salad. I loved it all and was was stuffed until I saw their desserts! My daughter got a kids meal, that included chicken strips and homemade fries. I had a bite or two and it tasted real good. My wife insisted on a slice of Reese's Peanut butter cake. Oh my! It was a huge slice of cake on a bed of chocolate syrup. We all chowed down on it and finished that monster! All in all, for a family of three going full-bore with appetizer, meal and dessert did about $85 worth of damage (after tip). It was worth every penny and I'll go back again. If you're not sure about the price, then try the lunch menu or takeout. It's all good!

Second visit to Reel In and second unsuccessful meal :( Seafood was frozen not fresh! and restaurant was understaffed. Night manager was busy having a beer and dinner, never even noticed the unhappy customers.

This was the first time we'd eaten here and we were delighted with the experience. We arrived early and by the time we left at 6:30, noticed a waiting line. Our fried shrimp were delicious, as were the sides, fresh sauteed spinach, green beans with roasted garlic and excellent French fries. Chocolate cake for dessert was sinfully good! The wait staff and manager were friendly and attentive.

I have eaten several times at Reel In and each time have had a delicious experience. I agree with the previous review in that the wait can be long at times, however do not mind the wait when I know that the food will be worth it. It is nice to have a restaurant in the area that caters to seafood lovers :-)

So we've been eager to try out this place because we've been looking for a local seafood place for awhile now. We came in on a Thursday night and noticed it's in a fairly new shopping center in a large space. There's a big, separate bar area away from the dining room, which is kind of nice because it allows families a quieter dinner atmosphere away from the bar scene. All the servers are on the older side and are still learning the menu, but we found service overall to be very friendly (esp because we were bringing in a 2 year old and a 4 month old); we always hope to find kid-friendly establishments with a kids menu and high chairs. You'd be surprised how rare that can be. They have some weird system involving a battery-powered lantern where you keep it lit for service and change it to a blinking light to see a manager. What is this, Japan? I can't imagine what kind of scenario would consistently be occurring for them to have an entire process to speak to a manager. This is Carrollton. Folks don't work like that around here. If they have something to say, they're going to wave down Flo and ask to speak to a manager. I think it's kind of stupid and gimmicky so I would suggest eliminating this concept. Moving onto the food, I love that they have a broad menu with a lot of variety. The same cannot be said for the other local seafood joint (Bennetts Creek Marina). They also allow you to choose from entrees being fried, broiled, or blackened; another small thing that the other seafood place does not do. Their house salads are plentiful (and not just iceburg), their fresh catch of that week happened to be flounder and I really enjoyed whatever it was seasoned in (some sort of Old Bay concoction). The fries are hand cut but could stand to be crispier. No one likes soggy fries. We got the calamari as an app and it was tender and served with a remoulade house sauce. Delicious. I ordered the seafood feast so I could sample a bit of everything (crabcake, flounder filet, a couple butterfly shrimp, and oysters). Everything was prepared in that seasoning, which was delicious, but I will try it broiled next time. It got a bit monotonous after awhile. They also have an abundance of sides to choose with their entrees. I picked their sauteed spinach and it was some of the best I've ever had (including my own!). For a casual seafood place, I was pleasantly surprised at the variety on their wine list. Everything is $6/glass and they must have had about 10-12 wines by the glass available, including an unoaked Chardonnay...mah fave. This is a huge pro for me. I like variety and I also like affordable wine. Done and done. We will definitley be returning to try out some of their other menu items (poboys, burgers, etc). We found the prices to be comparable with the items being offered. It's a seafood restaurant people, not Long John Silvers. Time will tell if they can maintain this menu and quality of food but for now, I give it a solid 4 stars.

Typical fried seafood type of place. The staff is nice and everything arrived hot and fresh. Glad to have them in our town.

They did it again at Reel In! Wonderful flounder, lightly bronzed to perfection! I'll keep going back if it stays this great!

Very pleasant experience on a Friday evening. Oysters were not available and the lovely, charming manager explained that they were found to be too small and that she would not serve them for that reason. The fried shrimp was superb, the fries were outstanding(freshly cut) and the sides of spinach and garlic were super. The server (Bonny Sue) was very attentive and friendly. Ambient atmosphere could be improved and would improve my rating to 5 stars.
