Fast and good service. The Pho is really good and fairly cheap!

I have eaten here several time and have tried several menu items and have been pleased with their food each time. I like their lean brisket Pho. I have also had their marinated chicken, Vietnamese wings, and egg rolls. It's all good and my kids like it. (I have picky eaters). I really like those menu items. The service is ok. It's a place I fequent because it's healthier than a hamburger and lighter than Italian.

Even I walked in the door 23 minutes before closing I was still greeted with a friendly smile and say quickly. Given a large booth even though I was all alone which was a refreshing change for a single business diner! Ordered create your own pho with lean brisket and fried vegetarian rolls and was out the door with a happy belly and great experience before 9. Love stopping here every time I come to this area. My pho fix spot!

I ordered the pho ga. It was good, but nothing exceptional. Service was very fast; however, after food was served, the waitress did not check back on our drinks until the end of our meal. Atmosphere is a bit dark in the evening and cramped, but overall it was a good experience.

This pho place was fairly average. I can't claim to be a pho expert, but I have had better. It didn't seem as flavorful as other pho places I've been to - this soup required doctoring up. The service was excellent though. The wait staff was prompt, and the manager/owner (I'm not sure) even pulled off the straw wrapper in front of me and put it in my glass, which made me wonder if he knew I was a yelper... I've never had someone do that before except a handsome gent sitting across from me on a date.

Sorry to say the broth was probably was the most flavorless I've ever had. The spring rolls were gummy and full of just noodles.

Great value, and the staff are wonderful! A top choice whenever we come to Ashburn from DC. Rivals some of the best pho my fiancé and I have had.

I've only had pho twice in my life so maybe I'm not reliable for a fair review, but I'm leaving one anyway. I thought my pho was just fine. The last place I had last had a more flavorful broth but I enjoyed it actually. It wasn't a wowing meal but I was craving pho and it hit the spot. My one complaint is that it smelled funny. Not like spoiled funny but the chicken made it smell like a wet cat or something... Kind of off putting. But as I said the flavor was still enjoyable. I'll go back if I'm craving pho again but maybe stick with veggie pho.

Bad pho and vermicelli. Pho had a lot less meat. Broth had no flavor at all. Vermicelli noodle was served hot. Egg roll were in the noodle was half size of other pho restaurants. Less vegetables in overall but overpriced for what you get. Will not come here in the future.

This place is great. The service is always quickened the servers are great! The pho is delicious and Gluten Free.

Good pho but service sub-par.. The pho was flavorful, hot and filling, served within 5 minutes of our order and came in a huge bowl with a side of bean sprouts, fresh basil leaves, jalapeños and lime wedges. Sriracha and another thai sauce also added to the flavor. Great for a cold day like today! However service left something to be desired- no one stopped to see if anything was needed- I had to call a waiter to get a fork and a napkin. They also took away my bowl without asking if I was done- which felt kind of rude. They are pretty busy during lunch, which might explain the shortfall in service quality. Also I assume they think everyone uses chopsticks.

  • Thy plus J.

The pho here is not good. The broth tastes like old, stale water that has been microwaved for 3 minutes. The quality of the meat is disappointing and the noodles are average. On the plus side, the service is good.

There's better Pho out there, but if you live clear out in Ashburn this is a lovely little gem. Perfectly acceptable soup. Decent spring rolls. Haven't tried the other food, just soup. Very delicious authentic smoothies, complete with sealed lid and fat straw, but inexplicably no boba pearls?! Great little place, wish they stayed open later!

What has happened to Pho Bistro? I used to eat here all the time when I lived in Ashburn 8 years ago because it was THE standard for Ashburn pho. Now that I'm moving back to the area, I'm trying to get reacquainted with all my fav restaurants, and of course Pho Bistro was on the top of my list. I came in on a Friday afternoon and got pho to-go. The restaurant itself wasn't busy at all, but as for the price...well, looks like I'll have to get used to living in Nova again. The pho is more expensive than I remembered it being (especially when compared to Ohio pho). I like meatballs in my pho, but they charged an extra $3 for a few pieces of meatballs, which seemed a bit excessive. But at least the portion size was excellent! My to-go bag had plenty of add ons: bean sprouts, hoisin and Sriracha sauces, green and white onions, limes, and of course cilantro. The rice noodles and meat included weren't anything special, but what really makes a good pho is the broth. And this is what disappointed me the most. It's very light and decent...but that's it. Something was definitely missing. Pho Bistro's beef broth is not as complex as it was before, especially when compared to all the neighboring pho restaurants. Now don't get me wrong, I still thought my pho was ok. But it wasn't as good as it used to be, and I think I may look elsewhere for my future pho cravings.

Pho Saigon. Great for takeout on a cold night. Ready in 10 minutes. Be careful with the jalapeños, they're so fresh they really add some heat!

Tried since it was close by to current destination. On the fence since there were so many mixed reviews. Restaurant was empty at noon on Saturday. Server seated us and brought us water right away which is a good sign for a Vietnamese restaurant. Ordered the Goi Cuon which was bland w no flavors. Had the Pho Ga which came in a huge bowl. Noodles were cooked just right. Meat is on the sparse side. Broth is light and lacks robust flavors. Good part that your mouth doesn't feel greasy afterwards. Strange that they didn't put cilantro in the pho. Ok in a pinch for Ashburn but I wouldn't go out of the way.

  • Thy T.

Ordered to go a combo Pho w a side of meatball. Broth was bland, not much Pho fragrant. Toppings were little. No meatballs (even tho the owner insisted that he included a side box for meatballs). This pisses me off when I got home. They did charge me for the meatballs. Never come here again.

Pho Saigon was awful. Tasted like salty water and noodles. Took 2 bites hoping the second bite would magically be better but it did not. Server came and said you didn't eat your food. I said I did not like it and she said oh ok. I paid for food that was gross. Just moved here from Arizona and looking for a good pho place. This place is NOT it.

  • Matthew S.

Good pho, I have not tried other dishes yet. I usually get the Saigon pho, which I consider the works of pho(brisket, flank, tendon, tripe). Have eaten there about 8 times, very consistent quality. Service is always polite and attentive. They do serve beer, but they do not always stock SE Asian brews. Price is decent for the Ashburn area. Overall good for lunch or dinner. For true Vietnamese food lovers this place might be a little too safe.

  • Griffin I.

Was very underwhelmed when I ate here. The broth was watered down to the point where there was almost no flavor & the summer rolls were obviously premise from either earlier in the day or the day before. There's plenty of Vietnamese restaurants in the NoVa area which gives me no reason to frequent this restaurant.

Pho Bistro is my favorite pho place, hands down. Very reasonably priced, huge bowls of pho with noodles, sliced onion, bean sprouts, jalapeno peppers, basil, limes, and the meat or seafood of your choice. The vietnamese beef dish and the spring rolls are very good as well. Takeout is terrific here as well - all packed up and ready to go within 15 minutes or so for @ $9 for a single pho order. It's not the Inn at Little Washington, but rating 5 stars because I think they're the best at what they do...

Pho Bistro out in Ashburn is quick, dependable and fast! While not the greatest pho this side of the Milky Way (the broth is a lil' lacking) the bowls have more than enough noodles and a large amount of meat. The only downside is that the standard bowls come with tripe (the texture just does NOT agree with me), but they're more than willing to do custom bowls without it. They're flexible. Bonus! Want double a particular meat? No problem! I give it 4 stars. I've had better, but for the area, it's reliable and... well, I'll be honest and say I have a thing for noodley soup served in bowls larger than my head. It's a reliable bowl o' pho, fast service and a friendly staff. And they do a pretty solid thai iced tea, too. Always a bennie in my book.

Saw this place in the little strip mall off Waxpool that has Five guys and Kapao in it. We were going into Kapao one day, and saw a large group of Asians going into the Pho place, so I made a mental note to go back and try it one day; since a large group of Asians can't be wrong!! Well Pho Bistro did not disappoint. Upon entering and sitting down I took one look at the menu and recognized it. Trying to recall where I saw it befo...... Centreville! That's right, this is a new shop under the same owner of the Centreville location, aptly named, Pho Bistro. Go figure. Having been to that location once before and enjoying it, I knew I was in for a treat. Le GF ordered a bowl of Pho with all the trimmings 'cept tripe. I ordered a Pork chop rice dish, with a side of broth and fish sauce. We also ordered a order of summer rolls with peanut dipping sauce. Well, the summer rolls came out and they were pretty standard issue summer rolls, if not leaving a little something to be desired. I would not order them again. For the price, I would of liked to see a little more substantial filling and less "mighta coulda used another minute soaking in hot water noodles". Anyhow, I forgive them on the summer rolls. I didn't come here for those, they were just to pass the time while we waited on the main event. The Pho came out in a bowl bigger than any known human's head. I think it was the largest Pho bowl I have made contact with. Being nice as ever, my lady let me try her soup and it was yummy. It was up there with some of the better Pho's I've had. I would came here for it and order it if I were in the area.... Now the pork platter. Wow. It was impressive. Three good sized, thinly sliced pork chops. They were cooked perfectly and had a kinda sweet glaze on them, you know, the way Vietnamese grilled pork is. It was soo good. The gf agreed. It also came with a side salad I was not expecting. It was good for being a side salad, I liked the dressing on it. Tasted kind of like the fish sauce nuoc mah (sp?). I also like they were able to add a side of broth to my entree for like a dollar or so. Can't beat that. So... my only gripes are ... well, the summer roll (but we already talked about that), the fact that you cant get a fried egg on top of your rice entrees (to me, that really makes it just that much better), and that they don't have different sized bowls of Pho. Just once insanely large size. So, a few minor gripes, and a whole lot of smiles from mah belly. I say that's 4 stars fo'sho!

I could eat here just about every day. I always get Pho Saigon and the summer rolls. The staff recognize me as soon as I walk in and we even chat when we have a couple of minutes while I wait for our take out order. They're all friendly and I now have half our office hooked. :)

Had lunch here today. While the wife ate at Moe's next door I had the best Pho I have had in years. Usually the soup base gets really salty but this was the most tasty soup, even better than my go-to place in Herndon Clock tower. Also had an order of the fried egg rolls (very small and crispy) with a fish sauce dipping sauce. If you are in the Waxpool area, next to Five Guys, stop in for some real good soup and service :)

My go to pho spot around town. The broth is clean (ie- not anis-y) and tasty, the meat is good quality which isn't too common with Pho joints. Noodles have been overcooked lately, and the lime shortage seems to still be affecting them (lemons, no limes) so I hope they recover. The owners have always been awesome in the 3-4 years I've patronized their restaurants, the place is ALWAYS clean and food comes out relatively quickly. Pho bistro hit their success in the korean areas of nova, like centreville so you'll find the menu in korean/english and vietnamese. The lack of cilantro in their broth by default is also an indicator of this (you can always ask for it.) If you like to eat pho without dumping everything in the broth, you'll enjoy Pho Bistro. Try the Pho Ga (chicken pho) as it's one of their most solid offerings. Their fragrant chicken and pork chops are decent enough, but it's not a killer chicken/pork and rice dish as you might find at a full vietnamese menu kind of spot. Spring rolls are still bad, summer rolls are still tasty (wish they had cuts of pork in it like Viet house.) Also they don't take discover/amex

  • Anna K.

Sorry, didn't like this place. It was my first Pho and the one I had was totally bland and watered down. Not good at all. My husbands food wasn't good either.

  • Serena M.

I found this place because it's convenient, but keep coming back when I get the hankering because they consistently have good pho, fresh basil, and it comes out fast. I also like that this place doesn't look like a bus station, unlike other places that get points from yelpers for being authentic. I've been coming here on and off for a couple years, but it seems like there's a new crew of waitstaff, so may have changed hands. I didn't have problems with them before, but the ladies today were very friendly and attentive. Today's broth was flavorful, so perhaps prior complaints about the broth have been addressed. They play 80's soft rock almost every time I'm in there - not a pro or con, just a fact. Contrary to a previous reviewer's experience, you can tip via credit card, but still no Amex.

I got the Pho Saigon and it was really good. The only thing I wish they had more of was the bean sprouts.

A very nice pho joint near the house. The summer rolls were very fresh and the crepes were nice and chewy. The broth is pretty light but had a good taste and they will also accommodate extra noodles. The meat on my soup was a bit skimpy though and I could have used a bit more of each of the meat ingredients. All in all, not bad, not great and good in a pinch.

    (3)
  • Sandy M.

Pho bistro isn't much special. Pho is just fine, skimpy on the meats. Spring rolls are small and always seemed overdone, so small and overwhelmed with wrapper and not much filling really hinders any flavor if it even had any. Summer rolls are good. The grilled pork and rice is delicious, again not much meat, the salad that it comes with is good, the dressing on it is light and tasty. The seafood pancake is ok but costly for what it is. Service is unpredictable and personally I prefer to see the phos comes in more than just one size like everywhere else.

  • Cristina C.

This place is great on the eyes and has a good atmosphere. The noodles are ok but one thing that really, and I mean totally, bothered me was the soup. Of all the places I ate pho, this place adds too much salt on the soup. I almost couldn't eat it. The only thing that kept me going was bc I was hungry. And I had to actually add water to my pho, which also decreased the flavor of the whole food

    (2)
  • Mackenzie D.

I was underwhelmed. I'm not an experienced pho diner, but I like trying new things. I was disappointed that my soup was so lacking in flavor, but at least it had wontons, right? Except the wontons were equally flavor-less and I didn't even eat all of them. Maybe I didn't order the right thing, but next time I will probably just go to the Indian place next door.

**3.5 stars** My first time at Pho Bistro since they moved to the new location. Had a Pho Ga - some things still have not changed at Pho Bistro - the chicken broth is not as rich and full flavored as it was some 3.5 years ago. Still, it was a decent bowl of Pho Ga - just not great. The chicken was as tender as I have ever had, the bowl of broth was steaming away, and the veggies/aromatics were fresh and in fine fettle, and the noodles were not clumped up. Service was excellent. I'd come here again for lunch.

  • Alexis N.

The pho was just okay. I was exploring the new neighborhood and decided to try out this place. I won't be coming back since there are plenty other Pho place that's better.

3.75 This is Pho Bistro's new location. Turns out they had to move because their old landlords wanted too much for a new lease. Now they are located in the same strip as Five Guys and Moe's. The inside looks pretty good. I'm not quite sure I like this new layout, but it's just weird how they have the two sections broken out. You'll have to check it out yourself to understand. The menu is basically the same. They still only offer one size. I choose the bowl with everything, minus the tripe. I'm not a tripe fan. The bowl came out pretty fast. To me, everything tasted the same as before. Broth was pretty good. Not a rich as others, but still good. I didn't need to add any hoisen sauce to it, so that is always a good sign. The portions seem to be smaller than other places. Meat to noodle was good. I didn't have too little of either. The wait staff was nice as they were always checking up on me. Overall good pho, nice people, and good service. Parking won't be a problem. Their parking lot is huge. Even sharing with all the other restaurants, you won't have an issue parking.

Very mediocre pho. Just bland, and sub-par broth. So many better options in the area for pho. Avoid, avoid avoid!

I have eaten here 4 times. The first two times were great. No complaints. But my 3rd time. My chicken in Pad Thai was over cooked and noodles were gummy and dry. I just took it as cook having a bad day. The 4th time chicken over cooked, noodles was terrible. Still I digressed. The sauce that comes with my meal looked like it had a layer of dust on it. So I ask for another one. (really trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt that im just getting them on a bad week) when the second one came it look to have had a price of mold on it. Or a dust ball. My cucumbers looked recycled from someone else's uneaten meal. At this point I no longer care. Didn't eat my lunch at all. So my waitress brings me To go containers. As im waiting for my check I notice all this layer of dust and dirt in the white container and little plastic cup for sauce. That was the last straw. I've been more then understanding. This place is off my list. For their convenience they have things prepped and sitting out so they can grab and go. Service is fast but they have your typical flies that is drinking the water, sauces and eating off what's hanging out. Now on to finding a new Thai place for lunch. This one is not worthy of my money nor time. Even if it was free.

-3 STARS. Worst pho place I've ever tried, beef taste like play dough. Regret wasting my money on this absolute crap soup. If you want MURICAN PHO COME TO PHO BISTRO: The Crappiest pho in the DMV!

I have been eating Pho since the late '80's and have tried it in any country I could find it in as I traveled extensively for work and Pho Bistro is possibly the worst I have had. It truly tasted like canned soup, with no real flavor to the broth at all and nothing else in the soup had much taste. One other thing- when it was served, the soup was so hot I couldn't touch it for 10 minutes, way too hot, pretty much near boiling. I've had friends who tell me this place is good but I just don't see it. I find Pho Reston 75 in Reston to be much better. Looking forward to trying the new place in Ashburn Village shopping center when it opens.

I have eaten here more than a dozen times now. I think I wrote a review earlier, even. But I'm writing now to address the review that said they use MSG. I'm MSG sensitive, and I've never had a reaction from Pho Bistro, so I'm guessing that reviewer must have gotten his headache from something else. If you are MSG sensitive like me, I wouldn't worry. This is still the best pho in the Ashburn area. I have eaten pho all up and down the East Coast and I won't mislead anyone and say Pho Bistro is the best anywhere, but it is worth 5 stars on Yelp. Best in Ashburn, anyway. I'd recommend sticking with the beef pho. The pho ga is good, but really, if you're getting pho, get the real stuff. The seafood pho has a lot of meat but I don't really like it even though I love seafood. The beef pho, on the other hand, is excellent. The broth here is lighter than some people prefer, but it's just right for my taste. Try the pho tai nam chin (lean cuts) or the pho Saigon (all cuts). Wait staff is decent although they get a little overtaxed during lunch.

  • Takaki K.

We came here because we needed something quick before catching a flight. Our pho came out in no time. It was not the best pho but still pretty decent. The broth was fairly smooth and not very fatty. The meat that barely cooked in the broth was very tender and tasty. Service was efficient. It's an ok place for quick lunch.

HI All ~ Just a heads up, Pho Bistro in Ashburn is moving. They are not closed! I just called their Centerville location and they said they'll be opening down the street in the shopping center where the 5 Guys and Moe's is located. They hope to open by the end of July.

  • Tyler I.

Haven't had Pho in years and finally came back to trying it out again. The interior was very clean and the Pho was quite good. However, the wait staff pissed me off. Maybe I didn't shower that day or I flicked them off and forgot to say excuse me, but it seemed as if I were bothering them. I don't know about you, but a fucking smile goes a long ways or even saying hello. We had placed an order and came by to pick it up, as I walked in one of the waiters was eating. I stood at the counter for maybe 3 minutes and look over at him, the fucker drops his fork on his plate and comes behind the counter, doesn't look at me and asks if he can help me. Now, on a cold/rainy day- pho is awesome and this is one of the few places where it all seems very fresh and worth coming by. If you have seen the show Fringe on Fox- it's like that. Great story (ingredients) but disappointing employees (god damn Joshua jackson...etc) I suck at analogies so I apologize.

Yeah... finally it's open.. they move to the same shoping mall with Five guys and Curry club..Their noodle soup is really good..

  • Tammy S.

I was happy to learn that they are NOT going out of business. I saw the new location while sitting in traffic one AM. It's where the Five Guys is. Let's just hope the luck of that area doesn't hurt them. But Moe's and Five Guys seems to be doing well. I haven't found comparable good pho in the Ashburn area. So when I'm in the mood for it, Pho Bistro does the trick and I think it's pretty good stuff! My recent lunch visit was good and the soup was consistent to past visits. Still on my pho go-to list.

  • L S.

So my first experience with the so called "pho" that seems to be all the rage now, happened to be at this location. Not impressed. I thought to myself, "how cool could a big bowl of soup really be?" Well, not very. It's an oversized bowl of bland soup, that's it. The restaurant itself was clean and simple and the staff were attentive but the food was blah. Not only will I never go back to this place, but I will never try pho again. I was starving an hour later.

Consistently good Pho though not as tasty as a few other Pho restaurants in NoVA I've eaten at. Service is always good and everyone's smiling and on top of things. Consistent and a good place to get Pho if you don't feel like driving to Falls Church or Annandale for top-notch Pho.

Fantastic Pho! The absolute best! I'm totally hooked. If you love pho or if you've never tried it, this is the place to go! Great food and customer service.

First time in the new location and wait staff stinks! Waitress tried to be cute and memorize our order (party of 9). We ended up having to ask for missing beverages and remind her of a missing order TWICE. Seriously, get a pad and pen or better customer service.

  • Derek L.

One of my favorite restaurants in the area, particularly on a rainy day or when I'm sick. Their new location is great, and the service is always fast and fantastic. Their summer rolls, vermiccelli, and Pho is very tasty.

  • Antonia Y.

I think I just found my favorite Pho place around this area! The restaurant is very clean, colorful, and bright, and the staff is very friendly. They can also speak English fluently! I really like the Pho menu, because you can create your own bowl with your own choices of meat. The meat at this place is probably the best Pho meat I've had. It tastes fresh and not like it's been left out for awhile like some of the Pho places in Herndon. The Pho comes at $7.50 for a large bowl. They didn't really distinguish between regular and large, but next time I go I will probably ask if they have a smaller serving. I probably had enough leftover Pho for another meal. After you are done with your Pho, you can also hop next door to the Sweetest Chef Cafe for some yummy boba tea!

The pork chops with rice and salad was great!. Thinly sliced pork chop with caramelized sauce glazed on the grill. Pho here is a pretty standard: soup, noodle, vegetables, and various mysterious animal parts. The soup is weak, but then I believe that the soup for all Pho are pretty weak in the first place. I guess that I am not a big fan on Pho. So yes, I am bias. I am going to judge this place on the pork chops. Pho Bistro gets 4 stars from me.

Great day for Pho on a cold and raining day, and Pho Bistro in Ashburn is place to go. Nice warm soup and with great service staff. Very friendly staff who sticks around to talk to you and help you decide, not like other asian restaurants where they rush you to order food by saying "ready to order?" or "what do you want?" without any greetings. Make sure to try the Pho soup and Fresh rolls!

My first introduction to Pho was here at the 'Pho Bistro' in Ashburn. I eat here at least once a week. I've branched out to other Pho joints in the area and while this isn't the best, it is still pretty darn good! For starters, you get a HUGE bowl of Pho. It is way bigger than most place's 'large' bowl. That starts things off on the right foot. Next, the prices are better than other joint's. You can get a fully loaded bowl for $7.50 while it seems like most local places are charging $7.95 for a bowl half the size. The third thing I really appreciate is the simplicity of the menu. I like picking out the meats and ordering a custom bowl rather than searching through options 1-100 to pick the combo that suits my tastes for that day. Now, here's the problem I have. The broth is clear. I know that some people are big on clear broth but I'm not and here's why: the darker broths indicate that the restaurant roasted the bones and (most likely) the veggies they used in the stock. That roasting brings out another level of flavor and adds depth to the broth. In my opinion, 'Pho Bistro' is skipping a step. Aside from that one small issue, I really enjoy eating here. If I was closer to 'Pho 99', that would be my place of choice but 'Pho Bistro' is a two minute drive from my office and is a great second choice.

Confession. I love pho. No ifs ands or buts. I have been to maaannnyyyy Vietnamese restaurants since moving to No. Virginia in 99. And I somehow manage to try to squeeze in Vietnamese restaurants when I travel. One of the most popular restaurants (now a local chain) is called Pho 99...tricky hunh? I thought that this was a standard. I haven't been for awhile so can only judge against what I have tried recently. I highly recommend vistors to the Dulles Airport area to give this place a try. the pho is authentic and the ingredients are totally on target. Fake pho restaurants tend to not serve the exotic and less attractive parts of the cow such as tripe, stomach lining and other connective tissue which gives not only flavor but a extremely interesting texture combination when added to the soft rice noodles. Doused with the Vietnamese chili sauce sriracha and a taste of Hoisin sauce then topped with Thai Basil and bird peppers (in this case jalapenos...which are less dangerous than the tiny birds), this is a dish so fulfilling and fantastic I just cannot describe it. The order of shrimp spring wraps in the soft and pliable rice wrappers with vermicelli and vegetable strips inside was great as well. I recommend this place highly.

I've been on a pho kick for some reason lately and ended up going to Pho Bistro. I guess I need to stop being so adventurous and trying food without reading the menu first. I went with the Pho Hanoi, which is "beef noodle soup served with well done combinations of lean brisket, fatty brisket, flank, tendon, and tripe." I never liked the commies of North Vietnam and the ingredients of their namesake pho clung to my esophagus, attempting to do me in. I fought back though and survived. Long live Saigon!

Excellent Pho and great summer rolls.

Pho Bistro has had an interesting history with me. They have excellent shrimp and pork summer rolls which usually arrive freshly wrapped, unrefrigerated and yummy! The fried spring rolls are deliciously light and the usual Pho salad condiments are high quality. The restaurant is a bit crowded, the decor modern, and for a Pho restaurant the branding and menus are surprisingly slick. Someone is gearing up to launch a franchise... However, we sometimes get the guilty feeling that we are eating somewhere that puts style ahead of the soup. Pho speaks for itself and stands on its own. Thus the traditionally featureless "cafeteria" decor found in most Pho restaurants. Our office Pho crusade has sampled Pho in the Dulles area over the past couple of years. Until now, our problem with Pho Bistro has been that they lack good broth. The soup is always hot and the beef of good quality, but the broth has been flat and bland with no depth at all. We went back again a couple of weeks ago and found ourselves polishing off entire bowls of Pho, drinking the broth out of the bowl at the end like little kids at the breakfast table. Something had changed. Thinking someone had spiked the drinking water with MSG, we wrote it off as a fluke. We went back the next week and again we found amazing, delicious, deep and flavorful Pho! I pulled one of the waiters aside and asked what had changed. He said that they had changed the recipe and were "cooking the broth longer because it needed more taste". He agreed that it was far better than before. Now we have the dilemma of deciding who has the best Pho in Sterling, Pho Bistro or Pho Royal. We cannot make up our minds at all, which leads to a need for repeated taste tests and heated discussion. Lunch has meaning again! I just found out there is a Pho Bistro in Centerville, close to home, so I'll have something to do this Memorial weekend.

fresh and tasty food... but they should offer the whole line-up of fresh veggies instead of the basil, jalapeno, lime & bean sprouts.. back in san diego they bring you a huge plate of romaine, basil, mint, sprouts, cilantro, lime, jalapenos & more! great service tho.. good prices

This will be the cleanest Pho joint you will ever been to. The waiters are always nice and make sure you get everything you need. The Pho doesn't taste too greasy. I feel like they give more noodles than most places I've been. I haven't tried anything else, but I love the Pho!

I love this place. I don't know what they mean about prices but too me you get alot for what you pay for. Service was excellent and food was superb. This is my normal lunch hangout when I'm craving for Pho. To me this is the best pho in Ashburn. The broth was super tasty and they use the proper noodles as well.

Overall, I'd rank it third of the pho places I've tried. Pho Royal in Sterling has better beef, and Hiep Hoa in Silver Spring is just awesome - my favorite, so far. Pho Bistro just didn't have the sauces and add-ins when compared to the others, and the beef broth didn't seem as flavorful and complex. Good, but not great. Now...I will say this. My daughter had the pho ga (chicken), and it was the best I've tasted. Very nice! The only reason we ate here was that there was an hour and a half wait at another restaurant, and we were too hungry to deal. But, it's nice to know it's here.

I'm a Pho virgin... so take my comments from an amateur perspective. We had the Pho... Chicken for my wife... and 5 types of beef for me. I was pleasantly suprised... the broth was tasty and the meat was great... and lots of it. For $9.00 it was a bargain.

  • Jimena M.

It may even be less than 3 stars for the bun, but since it's close to me it will not stop me from coming here again. I had the chicken bun here and it pretty much sucked. I still ate it all, well, because I was starving and no beef pho for me :( The meat was white meat, very well done white meat, so it was tough and stringy and lacked any flavor. Noodles were over cooked, it was one huge lump that was impossible to break up, even after a generous dousing of fish sauce and sriracha. The veggies were however fresh and saved this a bit for me. I will never get bun here again.

I returned to the Pho Bistro out in Ashburn and was very pleasantly surprised. The service was markedly improved and what I ordered (my standard tai/nam) was excellent. Every restaurant has bad days... I guess I caught them on a bad one the last visit.

Ate hear yesterday for the first time. Crowded at lunch time: good sign. Vietnamese people: Good sign. Pho broth: I have had better. I had the beef Pho broth but with seafood in it. This was a nice menu option, and the portion size was certainly generous. But, yeah, I agree with a previous reviewer. The broth was unremarkable. Seemed very salty, and yes, I know salty is good, but this seemed very much so, and it lacked some of the subtle flavors of anise and cilantro, that I have had and enjoyed elsewhere. So, perhaps this is a personal preference thing -- like I said, it was crowded, and the service was nice. I would go back if in the area, but there are other better options.

Not the best Pho around but it does the trick for a hang over. The owners are really friendly and I have known them for quite some time now. The Centreville restaurant has really blossomed, especially in clientele. A lot of the Koreans in Centreville frequent that location. Ashburn doesn't seem as busy but its good. Decor is the same in both places and the summer rolls are always good. Not superb, but not many Pho places are...it is still worth going to time and time again.

I often go here for lunch mainly out of convenience and for my reoccuring hankering for pho. The pho here is not bad but not the best I've had. It usually does the job though. They are pretty skimpy on the meat and their egg rolls are teeny tiny. If you order the vermecilli dish ask for no bean sprouts or they'll just fill 1/2 of your bowl with it as a filler. Service is pretty good and fast and the decor is nicer than most pho joints.

Pho shizzle my nizzle. Nestled in a typical suburban strip mall in Ashburn, Pho Bistro was a nice little surprise. One look at the menu and it's obvious the owners are a little more "progressive" then other pho places (and I suspect Korean ... since there were annotations on the menu in Hangul all over the place). "Hi, I'd like a number ... wait a minute. WTF? No numbers to order? How am I supposed to get my #7 fix?" Yes, no damn numbers. Surprise -- it's mix and match, ala carte, choose your own adventure pho. Lucky for us, color pictures grace the menu so you don't end up with a bowl of tripe, tendon and cow balls (but if that's your preference, go for it). Bonus -- the price is reasonable and the size of the bowl is BIG. And the pho? Very, very tasty. The folks in the back in the kitchen know what they're doing. Also, me thinks they don' t use MSG, cause I didn't get my normal pho buzz afterwards. Good service, clean, good food. I'll be back.

one of my new favorite pho places! i had passed this bistro numerous times since this strip mall was put into place but never had the urge to stop by, partly because i hadn't eaten pho when this strip mall was built. well, my sister and i are always on the lookout for new pho places and i remembered pho bistro so we ate there for lunch. it was very very clean inside, nice decor and our waitress (as well as the manager) were wonderful. she spoke perfect english and our water levels were NEVER empty. we ordered the spring rolls, which i actually was not a fan of, so i became a little nervous about how my noodle bowl was going to come out. (i didnt order pho i actually ordered the vermicelli bowl). my bowl was huge and delicious. probably the best chicken ive had to accompany my pho dish. much better than the pho2000 in herndon. it was well seasoned, tender and there was a lot of it. my sister enjoyed her beef vermicelli bowl as well. everything was very fresh, especially the sprouts and salad in my bowl. i had a lot of leftovers, my bowl was huge. i also noticed many people doing take-out, which i will try sometime. i will be back, again, buti wont be ordering the spring rolls.

I've tried this place a second time in case the my first bad experience with this place was a fluke. Same thing the second time. The place is clean and the service is alright. However, when I'm going to get pho I just want some good pho that I can slurp down happily. Pho Bistro has huge portions, but the pho broth is bland and the noodles are just meh. It's sad because it's quite near my workplace, but I'd rather drive out farther to quench my pho craving. Hope they'll improve soon!

4 Stars for take out as well. Everything was neatly packed in separate containers and bags, and the portion was just as large as in the restaurant. Note to self- need to buy larger bowls at home for pho nights.

Great pho place! A really clean establishment which is always a plus in comparison to the other pho places in the district. Friendly staff and QUICK service. By quick I mean, I ordered my custom bowl of pho and it came out in about two minutes. It's delicious and hot, and the portion was just HUGE. I couldn't finish it. Their eggrolls are also really good so I recommend them as an apetizer. What I love about this place is that you can create your own bowl of pho. A lot of people when they go to get pho kind of just blindly choose a random special from the menu and are grossed out by all the foreign looking things in the bowl like tendon. Ew, I would be scared too. Here, you can specifically tell them what types of meat you want and the result is wonderful. Great place, great prices, eat here!!

Gotta say I love this place, the service is better than any other pho place. You actually get drink refills! The pho is great and portions are very large. This is my second review, after going there several times, this is a stand out place as the service and quality of food are great every time. This is quite the contrast to the other pho restaurants in the area that treat you like they are doing you a favor for feeding you.

Clean and friendly service. Pho itself is good and you get a pretty large portion. Summer rolls are good but is overpriced. Co-workers and I come here for lunch, its too bad I have to dry clean all my cloth afterwards... :)

This place knows how to dish out a good product. A broth that warms the body. So flavor packed that you'll second guess that compulsive urge to reach for those customizable condiments. The noodles are just right. I mean, just the right amount of bite to them. You can tell these guys have their timing down on how long to steep before service. Meat is...well meat. Now the only thing that made me cringe was the portion and cost. Pho 101: How its made; A base broth. Add noodles. Steep. Toss in beef just prior to serving. Look down at your plate...PHO!!! Doesn't get easier than that. So, "Please sir, may I have some more?" Such a simplistic and cheaply made dish should be portioned to match the tab.

I love pho. It really is one of my favorite foods and I'm more than glad to go out and pick it up. Where I work there's no less than 6 pho joints, and they're all about the same distance apart. I'm pretty glad that I picked this place though. They took my order over the phone without any complication, it was ready when I got there 20 minutes later, I was offered chopsticks, and my request for extra sriracha was granted. Once I got to work I was barely able to get all of my noodles and meat in the container (I don't have a noodle bowl here in the office), but a few slurps of spicy-basily-oniony broth made the necessary room! The best part was that all of the dehydration that had plagued me through the morning also disappeared (take that scotch)!! The food shopping center that Pho Bistro is located is FULL of food choices, so I believe it would be perfect for those situations where everyone wants to pickup something different. The pho was delicious and if you're feeling hungry, or a bit run down from alcohol, you can't go wrong here!

I wish I could give this place no star!!! My meal was absolutely terrible. I ordered the fried egg roll , which in and of itself in a Pho place is strange but I went with it anyway. Boy was I disappointed. The meat was not good and I only ate one out of four. The casing was terrible as well. Then I ordered the beef noodle soup and it was awful! The peppers that came with looked rotten and I didn't even touch it. The noodles tasted like just a bunch of mess. Bottom line, that was my first and last time I will ever going there! Be warned!!!

  • Kim H.

3.5 stars I'm not a huge fan of the Pho here. It comes in one size (large) for about 8 bucks. The meats just taste a tad bit funny to me. I would recommend ordering any of their rice dishes. The pork chops are fantastic!

I hadn't been to them since they had moved location. When this place first opened their pho was fantastic! The broth was very tasteful! I went there for lunch today.. Service was still fantastic! Summer rolls and Thai tea still amazing as ever! When the pho got out I was hungry and excited to see my bowl of happiness:)... Unfortunately after eating it I was quite disappointed, because of the fact I have tasted their pho in the past and it was very good! The broth tasted extremely bland like it barely had any flavor so I was very disappointed. I might give it another shot just to see if it will be different the next time I come in and won't be disappointed.

Never had a bad experience here. Best pho in Ashburn in my opinion.

  • Kristen H.

I really can't complain too much (3.5 overall). Being from Richmond, I didn't have high hopes for a pho spot in the middle of Ashburn, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. The broth was a little sweeter than normal and a little weaker on the spices (the anise, etc), but it was not bad by any means. In fact, it would definitely hold me over when I have those pho cravings. What I was amazed by was the speedy service. Weekday lunch here is quite busy, but this place is a well-oiled machine. As soon as you sit down, the waiter's ready to take your order and places a glass of ice water at your table. If you're not ready to order, he stands by for a couple of minutes to assure that your order is put in as quickly as possible. If you get pho, the waiter brings your herb tray over immediately after you order. The time between ordering and having hot food on your table is barely anything at all compared to elsewhere. In short, this is your answer if you're low on time for your lunch break and you've got other things to do. The bad part for me was that the meat was cooked way too much. The meat should be medium to medium rare, but it was without a doubt well-done. That's not very appetizing, even when the meat is sliced thinly. Also, the absolute deal breaker for me is that they use msg. How do I know? The headache after my meal told me so. Msg gives me unbearable headaches so, unfortunately, I probably won't be back although I would've very likely returned otherwise. Also, they are a little skimpier on the meat and higher on the noodles, but nothing ridiculous. Beyond all this, let me just commend the owners for being very business savvy. They kept the service speedy, the menu small, the herb trays at just the right size for your portion, and paid attention to every detail in order to avoid waste and, thus, keep prices down and stay profitable, keeping doors open for Ashburn pho lovers. In a very tight space, they've created a stylish, cozy restaurant that pumps out a pretty decent pho. If you can tolerate msg, go for it! And no, you can't ask for no msg because the whole pot is pre-made, duh! For those who are msg-sensitive, the pork and vermicelli dish is delicious! The pork is flavorful and grilled with nice crispy edges, which is a nice contrast to the slightly chewy rice noodles. The slightly sweet fish sauce just balances out the dish perfectly. Yummm!

Adding a star. The change of location must have made them throw out all their old food stuffs 'cause everything was pretty great this last time around. The broth, while not the absolute best, was flavorful and cloudy enough to get passing marks. The fatty brisket was the best I've had and there was waaaay more of it in my bowl than I expected. I hadn't seen that much meat since stumbling across my roommate's porn collection in college and unlike back then, I liked it. My bowl definitely hit the spot after driving home from New Jersey, in a hurricane, with a hangover. (I promise that had nothing to do with how much I liked it. Okay, I can't promise that... but you get the idea.) The service was and efficient as usual. I'm happy to have a pho joint this close to home and not have it suck.

Located in a strip mall in the middle of effing nowhere (literally, you have to go at least a mile in 3 directions before you get to anything noteworthy, and 1/2 mile in the 4th direction to the skating rink), everything about this place is plain average. Broth: I usually enjoy taking a few spoonfuls of broth before I start digging in, but I couldn't with this b/c it was bland. Meat: Decent, and the one plus to this place, there's plenty of it! Crispy spring rolls: if Tostino's made Vietnamese-flavored pizza rolls, these would be it. $4.95 for what looks/tastes like it came out from the Costco freezer aisle is ridiculous. Also, NO FISH SAUCE! Seriously! I only tried the pho and the spring rolls, and I wasn't impressed. I'd say it's 2- to 2.5-star quality, but I give it 3 stars for being the only Vietnamese option in the area. I won't be rushing to go back, but if I have a hankering for pho while at work, at least the option is there.

In the current choice of Pho restaurants in Ashburn, this was (for us) the default go-to place by default. The broth was decent enough, so we would come here over the last couple of years (mostly to go). We tried to dine in last weekend and had a very bad experience service wise - ignored, brusque/rude service, and we actually left without ordering it was so bad. Even though the food is decent enough, we won't be coming back. Luckily, there are a couple of pho places that have recently opened that we'll try finding a better place somewhere else. (Or travel to Sterling to our favorite place.)

  • Lina T.

I'm Vietnamese so I'm all about the pho! I've been to many pho restaurants within Reston/Sterling/Ashburn and Pho Bistro is the best one in my opinion. The soup is always hot and flavorful. It's never too salty or bland. Most pho places usually give you the option of small or large bowl but Pho Bistro only has one size and to me it's an XL bowl. It's so much pho and totally worth it! Most of the time I can't finish it but I make myself eat it all because it's silly to waste all that goodness. Their spring rolls are also really fresh and good. Compared to other pho restaurants, their service is exceptional. They're constantly refilling your water and they check in on you. Yay for Pho Bistro!

  • Dan B.

The actual Pho here is OKAY, when compared to other Pho places in the area, though i believe this is the only one in Ashburn so i come here a lot. The best thing about this place is the summer rolls. I have been to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants and these are one of the best that Ive had, so i HIGHLY recommend the summer rolls. The pho is decent (still good), the summer rolls are amazing, the service is fairly good, and the atmosphere is pretty nice, its a good restaurant, but there are better places to go for Pho, just not in Ashburn!

    (4)
  • Andy H.

Good pho, pretty laid back atmosphere. Go for the full-on grand slam or whatever they call it. The one with all the meats. (YES EVEN THE TRIPE) You can get out of here for about $12-15 easy. Conveniently located behind the Embassy Suites.

  • Jess Y.

The pho was alright, but I eat so much pho and I'm extremely picky. The broth wasn't as deep as other pho places. It was very very very light- almost bland. I don't know if this is because the joint is owned by Koreans, or if it's supposed to be that way. I'm Korean myself, and the lightness of it reminds me of a lot of Korean soup. The spring roll was yummy, and the ice coffee was just "ok". I don't know why they don't have air conditioning on in a place that sells piping hot soup. I almost had a heat stroke. AND NO using fans does not work. ITS SUMMER TIME PEOPLE!

  • Henry R.

This is probably one of the better pho joint you can find in Ashburn. I am a big fan of phos and used to frequent pho at least two to three times a week, i was hooked. I was probably also spoiled by other better pho places further out in Falls Church, Fairfax, Herndon, and Leesburg, so the expectation was pretty high for me. I found the pho at this place to be just meh. Nothing to write home about. The broth itself was a little on the bland side for me. Had to douse it with hoisin sauce to get that flavor i am looking for. The meat was portioned enough, but the noodles was hard, doesn't have that al-dente texture i am looking for. I am by no mean a pho expert, but i have eaten enough to know what i like haha. I believe you can also customize your own pho bowl per the menu, but didn't bother because i was too hungry. Will i return? probably not. I'd rather drive out to the next closer location (Pho Royal - not Pho Mekong) to get a decent pho meal on my next craving.

I just paid $11 for absolute take-out crap. Being it's 80 degrees outside, didn't feel like getting pho, so I went with the vegetarian vermicelli bowl. The eggrolls are awful. There are barely any veggies, even though that was the focus of our conversation with the waiter; he told me I don't need a salad, plenty veggies in the bowl. I guess our view of 'plenty veggies' differ. And what happened to the usual vermicelli bowl dressing? Instead, I was given something that appears to come straight out of a hoisin sauce dispenser. Gross. I ordered extra tofu for some protein, he neglected to mention it's deep fried. It would have been fine, but instead of hot and fluffy, these are cold, wet and spongy. I can't eat it, I'm concerned I'll get sick, and I can't afford that as I'm travelling for the next few days. It's a shame of a dish.

Since it was hot out I skipped the pho and tried a bun with chicken and egg rolls. The egg rolls actually detracted from a fairly mediocre bun. I love my combination buns but this one wasn't good. Try something else on the menu or go elsewhere.

This is my go-to Pho restaraunt. Why? Clean fresh soup with succulent meat. Service is always excellent with managers who are cheerful and talkative. The Pho soup might not be traditional but it's the best tasting to me. The Pho Nam is my soup of choice. They trim the excess fat and they slice it across the grain thin. I keep trying other places but I keep coming back to the Bistro because of the quality and consistency. It's also a great place to introduce people new to Pho. Order the sprouts steamed so they don't chill your soup. And ask for a side of cilantro too. You can sprinkle as much or as little to none you desire.

Ordered three vermicelli chicken take out for lunch last week and found THICK, COARSE, BLACK HAIR in two out of threee entrees. NOT COOL. We were so excited about the noodles! My friend started eating her entree and within minutes, she found A HAIR in her food. So no big deal, I split half of my entree and shared with her, and as we continued to eat, I found A HAIR in mine as well. It really grossed me out since we both had already been eating a good bit of it. ACK! Our other friend who had the third vermicelli chicken was disgusted and lost her appetite so she stopped eating too. We called to let them know about the situation and we were asked to DRIVE the food WITH THE HAIR back to the restaurant. We should have just cut a bunch of our hair and put it all in the takeout box, that would have been funny. Honestly, it was just busy that day and not even worth the time and gas. They really should have refunded our credit card. We eat there A LOT. How dare they!!! Next time I'm there, I am going to say something in person. It's just NASTY.

This is a decent place to get a hot bowl of pho. I've been to this location about five times, and I haven't been disappointed yet. The pho (soup with noodles, meat, and lots of broth) is fairly good. The only thing I think they could improve on much would be the quality of their meat. I, personally, am actually a really big fan of bun (room temperature rice noodles with some veggies, oil, and meat and/or egg roll), which they also have there, but it's not quite as good as their pho. I attribute this mainly to the quality of their meat, which seems to matter more in the overall taste of the bun. If you've never had Vietnamese food before, it might take a little getting used to. If you get the pho, I recommend spicing it up with some Suracha sauce, and/or jalapeno slices that come on the little plate. I usually put a little of both of those in with some pepper, fish sauce, bean sprouts, basil, and a squeeze of lime (these are all standard side items that come with pho at almost any Vietnamese restaurant). The bun, in my opinion, requires no extra garnishing. You might add a little Suracha sauce if you want it to be spicy. The service at this place is decent. They get you seated and give you refills and all that. No complaints there. The prices are overall acceptable. This is a great pho place to visit if you live and work in the area. Enjoy!

The best dish there is the Vietnamese style Chicken Pad Thai. It's a big bowl filled with perfectly seasoned and grilled chicken. It's not heavy like the Thai style. There are a lot of raw greens (leafy lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumber) and the noodles aren't greasy. Good Pho soup, hits the spot when you want something tasty and fairly healthy. I think their egg rolls are some of the best in the area. My picky kid loves them. Prices are mid-range. The soup prices are about average but the egg rolls a little pricey given the small portion.

Rockin Pho, first timer here and now I look around all the time for Pho close to home. Great service, great food, great decor, great ambiance, great great great. I only went there once and unfortunately I took some awesome pics but they were deleted "accidently" by my ahhhh awesome son. :( SO, go to Pho Bistro! Yum.

Just had some Pho Chay for dinner, and it was deeee-licious. I loved that they packaged everything separately, so that I could "design my own" at home. Vegetables and sauces were fresh, and there were helpful "do it at home" suggestions on the to-go box. The broth was fragrant, and once I put the basil in, it came to life! I hadn't been to this location before, but I would go back! Thank you for the excellent meal, Pho Bistro!

Was pleased with service - within a few minutes of sitting down we were ordering and received drinks. Our food came out just a few minutes later. I ordered the Pho Hanoi and thought it was good. I was impressed at how effortless it was to order and get our food and bill since I was on a work lunch so I didn't have a lot of time. Also, the price was right - my pho was $7.75 and very filling. I definitely will go back!

I can't believe they called this Pho? Can I give negative stars on this thing? This was probably the worst Pho restaurant I've ever eaten in my life next to Pho "Reston" 75. I put two tablespoons of fish sauce just to have some flavor. I ordered goi cuon only to find out they charged me $4 for two damn rolls. But wait, there's more... There was no damn pork in it. After being so peeved, I continued to look at the menu and noticed they charged $2 for hot tea! Are you serious? At this point, I had bitched to the family enough so I just got my typical bowl of pho (dac biet) and ate just to shut up. The food was terrible, service was worse, and they are way overpriced for Vietnamese food. Never again.

You know, I thought I hated Vietnamese food for the longest time (because I made the mistake several years ago of trying some uber-authentic Vietnamese place in Arlington where none of the staff spoke English and only broken Engrish at best, so I ended up getting some sort of fish/vegetable patty that was just awful. It was like eating fried turd stuffed with rotten feta cheese and gym socks on top of a used tampon. It was that bad.) but then my better half convinced me to give this place a try. We went on a cold rainy night and he got the Pho Ga (chicken noodle soup, Vietnamese style!) and I got the vermicelli noodles with veggies and spring rolls. It was just delish. Hit the spot 100%. I want to thank you, Pho Bistro, for finally putting that horrible horrible memory of Vietnamese cuisine I carried with me for years to rest.

Pho is all based on preferences. I happen to think there's exceptional Pho, bad Pho, and then there's everyone in between. In fact, that's how most food is. The Pho is actually pretty good here. With that said, it's the upper half of the average group which consists of 80% of all Pho. Have I lost you yet? I hope not. WITH THAT SAID, I took my girl there and she had the steak cubes, which were actually very good. She's not a Pho fan, so I'm glad we found something else on the menu that she liked. I'm tired of writing, bye. Stop by, even if just once.

I live in Leesburg. But I have to drive here to have my Pho and vermicelli dishes. I enjoy their dishes a lot. I tried one of the places near us a couple of times. But I didn't enjoy it that much.- starting with the noodles being like a ball that I had to break with my spoon. I missed this place until I started driving here again. Anf the staff is very nice, too. Update: they have moved to a new place not far from the old location and haven't updated the yelp page yet. But I saw a new address on their website. Update: I haven't been there for a long time. The review above is out-of-date.

Nothing like a steaming hot bowl of pho in a 90+ summer heat, so refreshing to have hot sweat pouring down the forehead. It's like a workout without working out. The portion of the meat got skimpier but the soup is still delish.

As I was driving through Ashburn on a chilly night, the "sign" stating "Pho Bistro" caught my attention and I decided to stop. "Pho" as you may know is the Vietnamese rice noodle soup often served with chicken or beef and bunch of garnishes like mint, basil, cilantro, lime and bean sprouts. There is nothing better than Pho on a chilly night. The place is pretty average. The service was a bit slower and most of the waiters were too busy to do anything but to serve. The actual Pho was decent but I have had better. Will I return? I might if I can find a better spot in Ashburn.

It turns out that the 'Burn Pho Bistro is associated with the C-ville Pho Bistro. Makes sense, but I didn't make the connection until I asked. Last night I discovered two things: 1) Pho Bistro does, in fact, do take-out. Even with their pho. More on this later. 2) Pho from Pho Bistro that has been left to sit for an hour at a time will still be enjoyable edible, but the noodles will expand and become gummier than anticipated. I have this super mutant power to mysteriously always get punched out on an emergency run -just- as my food arrives. In this case, I actually picked up my pho-to-go, which my EMT promptly dropped on the emergency button on the radio, prompting dispatch to check in on us and ensure that we weren't being assaulted by a psychopathic killer. We even made it all the way back to the fire station, at which point I unpacked my pho goodness... ...to discover that everything came in separately packaged containers. Brilliant! A huge plastic tub of pho broth (which smelled pho-tastic by itself), a styrofoam carton for noodles and chicken (pho ga, of course), and a whole plastic bag filled with fresh basil, sprouts, and a little baggie of jalapenos. I was wondering whether or not I would have any fixin's with my pho, having taken it to go. There were even small plastic cups for fish sauce and sriracha! They really did think of everything. Alas, just as I dumped my noodles, scallions, and part of the chicken into my broth, the alarm goes off. Ugh. Fast forward an hour. Cold pho broth, noodles that have soaked up all of the liquid, and flaccid basil, still on the stem. The magic? Throw it all together and it still tastes like brothy goodness. Exactly what I needed after a trip to the hospital on a cold, wet night. Pho Bistro, you do me right.

The location is difficult to get into. It's located in a strip of other small chains such as Five Guys and Moe's. They don't have the specialty noodles such as Bun Bo Hue but their Pho is ok. It's not robust in flavor but they do serve a large portion. It's on the slightly bland side. The interior is nicely decorated and clean.

LOVE PHO. Never actually eaten inside the restaurant before only had the takeout pho but its absolutely amazing. They always have my order ready for pickup exactly when they say they will and don't have to wait. This place is very close to home so its convenient to pick up and go home. The only downside is when I ask for extra lime, they only give me 1 piece. Pho Ga (Chicken) = $8.17

It's okay. Clean, modern decor. The place was empty when we stopped by. The menu is simple, and not as long as other Vietamese restaurants. The spring and summer rolls are $4.50! We didn't order. It's okay... but... I wouldn't go out of my way to go. Frankly... I'm getting a little uninspired to talk anymore about this place. Go if you are in the area, but wouldn't you rather go to a place that is good enough to drive far for?

Decent pho, but you can tell the broth is water based. Not a nice meaty broth like other places. The egg rolls are average. Also, unlike other places they only offer one size, so that makes in more expensive than its competitors. Its never crowded since its in Ashburn and everyone in that town eats at potbelly or fishbone. :-(

This is my second review, and sadly, we no longer eat at Pho Bistro. Their food is fantastic, but when you get a few to-go dishes and you find a few thick black hairs in them...one would think the establishment serving hair for lunch would be apologetic and offer a refund. Nope, they were very rude, offered a coupon (so we could have some more pubes for lunch tomorrow, I guess) BUT only if we brought the food back and proved to them that there was hair in it. thing is, they lost customers that spend over $100/month there for two $7 dishes that had hair in them. or perhaps they're on to my scam where i order from sub-$20 to-go joints and then scam them for my money back. perhaps they haven't noticed all of the other out of business restaurants in Ashburn, perhaps they are not affected by the issues in the economy and don't really need loyal customers...either way, they lost a few.

The place was packed at 12:30 on a chilly, rainy Monday. Waited 8-10 minutes to sit, service was quick and efficient. It seemed like the one guy was the only server working but they give you big waters -unlike most pho places- so that must help keep the servers from getting bogged down fetching water refills for sriracha fans. I wasn't expecting a wait at all so I had to rush to get out of there and back to work by 1 so I will have to come back and re-evaluate. Not as nice on the inside as the Centreville location.

I come here to work in Ashburn every now and then and I've been here for about a week now. To be honest I was quite scared to walk into this place at first. I read here on yelp since its right down the street from me and it seemed like every other review was a horror story about hair. Hair in soup should rise eh? Anyway I ate five guys for five days and gained five pounds per night...dont get me wrong five guys is yummmyyy but im fived out for a looooooong time. Back to the topic...tried it out and no black noodles on the surface of the soup...cook prolly picked them out before serving. Regardless it was a tasty pho....people can actually mess up pho but this place didnt. It was great. I totally recommend coming here for the pho. As for the vermicelli noodles....i havent tried it so i cant comment. Most restaraunts not named KFC or McDonalds seem to go out of business around the Embassy Suite I stay at off Waxpool. I hope this one sticks around until my next visit here.

Eh, it was just an ok experience. Among the pho places I've been to, this wouldn't be my favorite. But the decor is pretty nice. Clean.

Service was fast but not pushy, food was tasty and inexpensive. Pho Ga is good but I will likely try the seafood the next time I go back. Good stuff.

I don't understand these reviews. Being Vietnamese myself, I would've expect some *decent* (big emphasis on decent) pho with the more modern decor and very clear menu. Speaking about the menu, its perfect for first timers who have never had pho, explaining the different types of meat. But anyways, I came here with family for lunch. The broth had NO flavor, whatsoever. Also, the steak was extremely chewy. I felt like I was chewing gum instead of eating beef. Its a problem when you see NO asian people in the restaurant. I feel sorry for the Ashburn community who thinks this place is actually good. Prices are pretty high too, it was about $4 for 2 spring rolls. Sorry, just because your located in Ashburn doesn't mean you can charge higher prices. Avoid if you can, for good pho, make the drive to Falls Church.

I personally was not a fan of the pho here, mostly the broth. It was not very substantial and tasted funny to me. The meats and noodles were decent, but I have had much better at many other places and will not be returning here for the soup. On a positive note, the spring rolls were very good and the service was excellent. I would be interested in trying the rest of their menu as there have been many positive reviews of this restaurant. If you like pho try another place.
