My boyfriend and I came here for dinner last Saturday because we were in the mood for Thai food and we live in the Del Ray area. We were seated downstairs and there were available seating. Although small, it is cozy. We didnt view, but there is seating upstairs and there is seating outside. We ordered the spring rolls for an appetizer, which were great. It came with two spring rolls and they cut each one in six pieces, so it was easy to dip in the plum sauce. For the entree, (which were both the chef specialties), my boyfriend and I split the Duck Basil and the Clay Pot Shrimp. SO DELICIOUS and filling. We probably didnt need to order the appetizer because we had a little bit left over but overall teh service and food were wonderful. We will be coming back here soon!

Thai Peppers is Del Ray's "hidden in plain sight" secret that the locals know and the visitors take forever to figure out. Located in a little yellow house on the same block as the Evening Star and Bon Vivant, this family-owned spot is a must-eat in Del Ray. The patio is comfortable and has a great street view to people watch. The inside seating is cozy and decorated in vintage Thai style. The upper level has pictures of the King and Queen of Thailand, as well as some tourism posters. Simple white walls and Thai gold abound. The location is perfect for a first date, a quick bite, or a relaxing meal. The servers are great-- genuine smiles, welcoming... and you'll see the same ones time and time again. I don't know about you, dear reader, but this adds a certain bit of comfort for me to enjoy my meal and my company. Service can be a bit slow at times, but hey-- hunger is the best spice. The food is solid, though some dishes feel catered to the American palate. The Larb Gai is tasty, but not as spicy as I'm accustomed to having it. The fish cakes taste as authentic as lunch at a Wat and the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) is exceptional. The true take away here is the house special "Gang Ped Yang" a savory duck curry that explodes with flavor from the first bite to the last. If you only have time or money for one dish, I would strongly suggest the aforementioned duck. Wash it all down with some Chang beer and enjoy the relatively inexpensive dinner, and you'll see why Thai Pepper has become our Thai fix in our new neighborhood.

The food is delicious and the prices aren't bad at all! My favorite starter, the spring rolls. The dipping sauce is amazing, not your average roll sauce. The place is cute and small. Great to eat out in the patio if you're walking with your dogs. It has free parking, so that's a plus. If packed, service might be a slow. Some waitresses are not too attentive, but service in general is good.

Decided to come in for a quick dinner after some shopping. Not a lot of seating but was it was early (4:45 pm) so I had no trouble finding a seat for one. Ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer, which were standard but tasted fresh. The Basil chicken fried rice I ordered medium was spicier than I anticipated but still very tasty. Cute place.

I'm convinced that the majority of Americans prefer to eat Thai food when it tastes like the color beige but is served in a pretty restaurant . 2 stars because you don't think the inside of the building is attractive? This really isn't even a hole in the wall type establishment either, it's just in an old house is all, chill. People say the same thing about Rincome in Arlington too and that place is hot fye. Typical DC big-headedness. The food is excellent, I particularly love the green curry.

Fun in a little old house decorated with homey chintz. Ordered Salad with Spicy Prawn. Warning: It burns! But the menu warned me and it was prettily presented and fresh. My date ordered Pad Thai with tofu and declared it "awesome." Great neighborhood street with diverse restaurants of all kinds. Not fancy but good service and as business travelers, we saw families coming in for Friday night takeout.

3.5, I got delivery from here so I'll have to dine in and update. The food is delicious, got the green curry and the best mango sticky rice I've had in DC. They said it would take about 45 minutes to an hour (!!!) but arrived in about 40 minutes. For those two items my bill was over $20 and then the delivery guy harassed me about leaving a bigger tip. The food was good enough to return, but I don't think I"ll be taking "advantage" of their delivery option again.

By far the best Thai food I have ever had. Love the Thai fried rice and the spicy yellow curry.

I'll preface this review with the comment that I DID like the food served. However, I have serious reservations about the customer service and business hygiene of this restaurant. I have been getting delivery for years and enjoyed the food. I also do take out often and was throw off by the customer service via phone. Fast forward to my recent experience: I ordered dinner for family and friends. Was delivered the wrong food and realized it upon tasting the food. I called to request my original order and, instead of immediate apology and delivery, I was questioned on if I could just keep the food or get a comped dish next time. When I requested that our food be delivered, I was asked to provide back the food (even though we all tasted our dishes). I questioned why they would request the food back and they were concerned with "wasting the food". I have no problem giving back a dish I didn't order but their response raised the alarms. My real concerns are what they do with order errors (to which I clearly articulated that they were tasted and therefore wasted). They also showed no remorse or apologized for their error. I will never eat there again.

Get the chive dumplings. Repeat - GET THE CHIVE DUMPLINGS. I'm addicted. I have to force myself to not keep going back... I love this place. It's convenient and well-priced. I've only done take-out and sit-in and had great experiences for both. The staff is super friendly and efficient. The food comes out hot and fresh. I've never had a bad meal here and I can gladly say I'm a regular. A must if you're in the area.

Well, I stopped here for dinner and was quite satisfied. The service was very good as was the food. Nothing spectacular, but certainly ample. If you're in Del Ray, this is a good choice.

I didn't realize how good I had it at Thai Peppers until I moved further away from it and had to find a replacement. I love the takeout service, I love the table service, and I love the food they make. I'm sure there are better/more authentic/etc. Thai places out there, but the food is really good and consistent, the staff are really friendly, and it's at a great location in Del Ray for a good post-dinner walk. I love the basil fried rice, veggie spring rolls, and sticky rice with mango. Oh, and the sizzling beef, and the dish with broccoli and peanut sauce. I also recommend the lunch deal, which is reasonably priced and served very quickly.

My husband and I come here so often, that the employees know what we order, ALL the time. I loooove their fried Spring Rolls, and I always ask for extra sauce (I dunk those rolls like there's no tomorrow); sometimes, they have a curry puff as a special appetizer, and I get that, too (basically, a pastry puff filled with curry fillings). The main dishes we get are the Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken Pad See Ewe (for my husband), Thai Chicken Fried Rice (no tomatoes and no cilantro), Sizzling Beef, and Chicken Panang Curry. Yea, I know, we're crazy. Everything is solid, and we have plenty of leftovers to take to lunch the next day. I think this place is tasty, pretty consistent, and the service is so friendly and so sweet. +Spring Rolls (ask for extra sauce!) +Chicken Pad Thai (ask for it to be more 'saucy') +Chicken Pad See Ewe +Thai Chicken Fried Rice (no tomatoes, no cilantro) +Chicken Panang (ask for it to be more thick) +friendly staff! +limited parking around the back

A friend introduced this place to me and I'm always hesitant about going to Thai place because it's always the same food. Man was I wrong. They had some appetizers on there that got me excited. Chive dumplings was awesome, and they had a garden roll that didn't use rice but instead some breading. Fun and different! Love it. Ordered Basil Duck, Panang Curry Chicken and Drunken Noodle Beef. All very tastey but nothing that was immensely different but definetely tastey. I agreed with their portion size for the price of food given. Waiters were attentive and easy to get when needed.

I've visited Thailand on several occasions and this place takes me back to fond memories of Pattaya/Phuket/Bangkok. The servers are welcoming and hospitable. We loved the pad thai. We've tried thai places in national harbor and shirlington and this place has been the best to date! Will keep coming back.

It's the only option for Thai food in Del Ray so if I'm looking for good Thai food, I get in my car and drive to another part of town. The curry lacks for spice in both flavor and heat. If you're in the mood for a generic Asian noodle dish, Thai Peppers is an acceptable option, but I'd rather walk in the opposite direction and get noodles from the friendly folks at the Chinese/Cambodian restaurant, South China.

Best spicy delivery in the Old Town/Del Ray area. I've tried every Thai restaurant in delivery distance now of my home (in north Old Town) and Thai Peppers wins hands down for the tastiest spicy food in the area. While ingredients don't taste as 'high quality' as say Thai Royal on Fayette, the flavors blend better and the portions are better. I had the Basil Stir Fry (forgetting the thai name) with calamari and asked for it 'thai spicy'----boy was it tasty. The calamari were juicy and plump, the sauce was savory, sweet, and oh-so-spicy, and the birds eye chilies were abundant. The drunken noodles (with chicken) were also quite good, and quite spicy. Just make sure you ask for things 'thai spicy' and be prepared to drink glass, after, glass of water.

Good food and great service. I got the chicken curry- it was great. And it comes with a small soup and roll. It makes for a nice lunch special that's just right. The place is clean and did I mention the service was great too.

Had an early dinner one Friday evening here; tried the taster plate of appetizers (chicken satay, shrimp rolls, spring rolls, fried tofu puffs) along with pad king ahn, washed down with a Heineken and glass of Riesling, and for dessert a serving of Thai custard with sticky rice (a delicious sweet and rich creamy dish that the two of us shared). Our overall feeling was that there is much spicier, more interesting Thai restaurants in DC, but this was fair enough and the price was less than in DC and the service was fair and friendly enough. The bits of Thai decor are interesting. There is outdoor eating area and a first floor eating area that is wheelchair accessible but since the toilets are upstairs (steep!) makes this place not-wheelchair accessible.

Very good service. The restaurant staff are very attentive. Food is very good. Their Beef Kaw Pad ( fried rice) is very tasty..for a lunch special of $7.45, I highly recommend it !

This place gets 4 stars for serving up some good Thai food and providing Del Ray with a little bit of culinary diversity. Pad see ew: very very good. This is the noodle dish with wide rice noodle and can get a little greasy depending on who is preparing it. Thai Peppers does it right. Pad thai: it's just okay. I've definitely had better elsewhere. Beef Thai fried rice: delicious...but it usually is at every other Thai restaurant too! The massaman curry's flavor is the best part of the dish but the meat is always just mehh. They have outdoor dining too and this food is perfect to enjoy outside on a nice day!

The service here is great. The prices are reasonable. The patio is delightful. My family goes here pretty regularly and we're always pleased. Their menu is extensive so you're sure to find something you like. I personally think their crispy duck needs a little work to make it crispier (ie less greasy), but everything else we've had has been top notch.

"quaint Del Ray location but bland interior followed by bland food" Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Parking: 1/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 Thai peppers offers sit-down dining in a very small downstairs area as well as outdoor patio. Carry out and delivery are also available. Food here is, to be blunt, just not as high quality or flavorful as many other Thai restaurants. The sauces seem uninspired and without fresh ingredients, the curry seemed almost canned - it was ok, but not great. The rice didn't seem like traditional Thai rice at all and was somewhat mushy/over cooked....TIP: if you run an Asian restaurant, you cannot cannot mess up rice. Period. Everything just didn't seem made from scratch or authentic at all - just generic and highly Americanized. The interior is somewhat generic Asian casual restaurant, nothing special. The tables have plastic on top - ew! Delivery service was fast enough but everything was just thrown into boxes arbitrarily, and one of my appetizers came in a Ziploc bag...seriously? not to mention their "garnish" of one wilted romaine leaf beneath the bag...interesting. Parking here is difficult as it's located in the Del Ray neighborhood so expect street parking...however I recommend other, better Del Ray restaurants like Evening star, cheesetique, taqueria poblano, or the pork barrel.

Sat on deck for First Thursday dinner. I know it's a busy night for them but only managed to get two glasses of water after 15 minutes of waiting. The waitress hardly looked my way. Ended up leaving without food. Too bad! Their food is usually pretty good.

4 years ago I dined at and gave Thai Peppers a substandard review. We have ordered for pickup twice in the past couple of months now and have been pleasantly surprised. A lot can change in 4 years. For example, last night we ordered the calamari salad, wild pork curry (not coconut milk based), and drunken noodles with combination meat. We were eating it at home, so were planning on spicing things up ourselves in order to not complicate things when ordering over the phone. Usually at every single Thai restaurant in the DC metro area (save Wheaton), we order things "extra spicy," in order to get it like a regular Thai spicy, and it comes out bland in the heat arena. Without even asking, this stuff packed a spicy punch. In Del Ray. What. We were so happy. We have also noted that the food is a lot better than it was 4 years ago. Their recipes are also a little different than the same dishes at other Thai restaurants (for example, the chive dumplings were deep-fried instead of the expected pan-fried type with the glutinous rice flour encasing). Still delicious; just different. I would say 3.75 stars, but the well-rounded layers of spiciness deserve a 5--averaging out to 4, relative to the DC area (and its fear of spicy foods).

dined here with some friends who are really picky about where and what they'll eat, level of service, etc. i think we were all pleasantly surprised by Thai Peppers. the service was great. they gave us exactly what we needed: a quick first round of drinks, followed by an appetizer, followed by a long, lounging meal. they even stayed open late and let us linger on the patio to finish the evening's conversation. the food was excellent, and i say this as someone whose partner eats asian foods almost exclusively. we went with the fresh spring rolls, duck basil, pineapple fried rice, and the green curry. all were flavorful, excepting maybe the fresh spring rolls, which were lacking in flavor and maybe more "garden fresh" than anything else. that said, the duck basil was my favorite (but then again, i'll almost always order duck if it's on the menu), but the green curry and fried rice were solid, if not overly memorable. all-in-all, an excellent choice and value, especially for the neighborhood, which seems to pride itself on overly-pricy mediocre food.

I decided to give this place a try one evening when I had a cold and wanted some spicy comfort food. The most recent reviews all pointed to this place making improvements recently, but I'm sorry to say it was completely underwhelming. The details: -It took 1.25 hours for the delivery guy to show up. Granted it was a Saturday evening and they did say on the phone that it would be an hour, but I live a half mile away. Had I not been sick I would've definitely picked it up myself. -I ordered the chive dumplings which looked like little turds--seriously unappetizing. They tasted ok but nothing spectacular. -The entree was basil shrimp (pad kra pow), and when I opened it I couldn't believe how small the portion was. One thing I like about Asian takeout is that there's usually enough leftovers god lunch the next day- not the case here. The flavor was ok but for $13 I expected more. Bottom line: not worth the $24 between the wait, the small portion size and mediocre flavor. Save your money!

Always a fan of Thai Peppers Restaurant. Great food, we especially like their curry's. We prefer to sit outside, and if we can't we get take out and eat at home.

Probably the WORST Thai food I have ever had. The Spring Rolls were rolled in some tortilla wrap...no stuffing. The Clay Pot Shrimp was minus any broth. I am absolutely stupefied this place exists. I'm from CA and needed a Thai "fix". Seriously? Is this was People in Alexandria think is Thai?? OMG

  • Adrienne L.

Excellent pad see ew with tofu! My friends who live in Shirlington brought me here for some delicious Thai lunch, and I was not disappointed. We shared edamame before the meal, and I could have used a flaky, Kosher salt as opposed to the granular they had. But it was fine. The dining area is very small, so you'll get a crisp awakening when it's cold out and someone comes in. It seemed like a lot of people were picking up to-go orders. Definitely a cute neighborhood Thai joint.

Looking for sth to eat in the area then I saw this restaurant. The place is small and cozy. Very generous with the portions, the food and the drink, I had pad thai and thai iced tea. Everything is great will definitely come back here again.

Massaman curry. Dericious. I get it every time. is it bad that i feel like i'm at a relative's house for dinner every time i eat here??? S'awesome.

  • Sara S.

We recently ordered delivery from here. The food was OK at best. It's a shame that with the abundance of Thai restaurants in Old Town/Del Rey area of Alexandria, it's still difficult to find one that serve simple yet great, authentic Thai food. We'll have to keep on looking.

  • Cecil M.

I've been eating at thai peppers for 14 years and it's the best pad thai in alexandria. Portions are large and the price is appropriate. Service is consistently good. However, delivery is slow.

Had lunch on a whim today I'm their outdoor patio. Their lunch special was pretty dang good; chicken curry, a boil of soup and a spring roll for under $8. Staff was pleasant and welcoming.

I've been on a bit of a mission to find the best Thai around the Alexandria & Arlington areas. While I have found several choice spots, Thai Peppers in the Del Ray neighborhood is at the top of the list. This place has the best pad kee mao I've had around these parts. Also excellent are the panang curry (ask for it spicy) and their lap gai salad (which is very spicy). Thai Peppers gets Siskels for their delicious food!

    (5)
  • Abby S.

I probably eat at Thai Peppers two to three times a week and the days that I don't I still crave it. I have visited probably twenty Thai restaurants in the area, always ordering the exact same meal (Tom Kha Gai, Papaya Salad and Red Curry with Chicken) and Thai Peppers just does it the best. I used to like Thai Square the best but I now have to give them the silver medal. Thai Peppers has a great lunch deal, super friendly and hard working staff, and I just can't get enough of their food (even with the very generous portions). See you soon Thai Peppers!

  • kelley r.

Rather disappointing. The fried tofu is overcooked and soaked with grease, the satay had no grill lines or browning at all- pieces were too big to get off the sticks instead of small cubes, and it tasted and looked like it had been boiled. Pad Thai is greasy and flavorless. The Ka Prow isn't spicy at all. The only good thing is the service - the people that work there are kind and attentive. I mean it's really great service!! It's just such a shame the food isn't better.

  • Vivian N.

Came here for dinner. The Tom-Kha soup was really good. So that was a nice surprise! We had the masaman curry which was delicious and the green spicy curry. Both sauces though were a little bit too light. Spring rolls were ok.

  • Mary H.

Hadn't been here in years, but now I remember why this was my go-to Thai place. The Pad Thai was so very, very fresh tasting... Definitely the best in town, and plenty of large shrimp. The duck basil was superb, with a delicious crisp that stood up to the great sauce. The fresh spring rolls were a bit of a disappointment, a bit skimpy and impossible to get apart. Service was pleasant, attentive. The downstairs dining room is a bit cozy (just four tables, 3 two tops and a three top).

  • Robert P.

Other than the wobbly chair (which I immediately switched), a very pleasant dinner. If you go, dine upstairs. Both meals very tasty. Very efficient, friendly staff. This was my first try here, I had walked past this place at least 100 times. I have my favorite Thai restaurant so I just never considered going. Date and I were in the area and he chose the restaurant. I have often had conversation with others about what it takes for a business establishment to get a customer in the door. The business is either doing well enough not to care (a fatal error in my opinion) or it has to be at the ready always. I am more a creature of habit. I like tried and true establishments. But make a good impression and serve good food and I am likely to add another to my watering holes.

  • Lu R.

My wife and I have both gone here 4 times in the last month and had enjoyed the food until our most recent visit on Sunday. We were both as sick as a dog. Diarrhea and vomiting for 4 days straight. We had the shrimp fried rice and the chicken pad see ew. If you get food poisoning from a restaurant once, you can and will get it from there again...it's only a matter of time because there are certain sanitary conditions that are obviously not being met. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT UNLESS YOU THINK 10 MINUTES OF TASTY THAI IS WORTH 4 DAYS OF PRAYING TO THE PORCELAIN GOD AND PROJECTILE DIARRHEA!!!!!!

I used to order carryout from this place about 10 years ago when I worked across the street; some days the only thing I ordered were the spring rolls -- they were that delicious! Now that I live in the neighborhood, I decided to grab a quick carryout lunch to see if it was still as good. I had the Pad-Prik-King lunch special (comes with a spring roll and a cup of the soup of the day). The woman who took my order over the phone was very friendly, and wait time was short (estimated to be done 10min after I called). The portions were generous, and everything was piping hot when I picked it up. The soup was good, but I wasn't really getting the special for the soup. The spring rolls at this place are outrageously good. Super crunchy outside, delicious and soft inside. They even gave me a little container of sweet chili sauce to dip! Main entree was tender white meat chicken and veggies sautéed in a red curry sauce. I love spicy food, and this dish had just the right amount of heat. Yummmm! All this for only $7 and some change! Yep, I'd say Thai Peppers is still as yummy as it was 10 years ago!

Came here with my husband and in-laws even though the reviews here were just meh....and I'm so glad! It's a cute little place...kind of corny, but cute, the service was good, very attentive and the food was tasty. We started out with the chive dumplings and veg spring rolls which were both good, a little oily, but that's fried food for you. I had the Pad See Ew with beef and I really liked it. The beef was cooked well, not too overdone, and the sauce was sweet and salty. It was still yummy the next day as leftovers. My husband had the tofu Panang curry and enjoyed it immensely. My father-in-law had the Beef Siam....it was really delicious...I tried some. :) My mother-in-law had the Pad Thai and liked it as well. I bet it's fun to come here in the summer when the patio is open as well! We had a great time, and will definitely be back!

Popped in to sample the daily lunch special -- left feeling like a happy Buddha! Atmosphere: Very small interior, probably three or four tables, but still cozy. Don't be a wuss, go outside on the deck and grab a table there! It's shaded with trees and the outdoor scenery goes well with a spicy curry on a summer day (if it's a little chilly, go Thai hot! Haha). Service: Friendly, fast and attentive. I sat down at was served the lunch special within probably 10 minutes of arriving to the restaurant. My water glass never went empty and the server made sure to stop by a couple minutes after bringing my curry to see if everything was good. Food: Delicious! I was very impressed with the way they run lunch. For $6.95 you get a small bowl of brothy soup and a spring roll to start. Within minutes your lunch is out -- and don't worry, it's fresh. My green curry had bright green basil in it (only slightly wilted from the coconut milk) green beans with the perfect amount of crunch and eggplant that still had bright purple skins on the outside. That's the thing about Thai food -- everything needs to be timed well or else it just tastes like second-rate chinese take out. Final thoughts? Fast lunch for under $10 is always a winner in my book, but the quality of the food and service gave me extra bang for my buck. I'll definitely be back to sample their dinner grinds!

Great Thai food in Del Ray. Panang Curry is fantastic! The Yellow Curry is a winner as well! They also have a nice little patio outside. Everytime I have been there, they have been incredibly attentive to us. The decor, as some have mentioned, is a bit outdated, but the food is priced well, very tasty, and service is great!

I discovered Thai Peppers a little over a year ago on a whim and am so glad that I did. I really like this place. I have had all of the curries, the pad thai, the drunken noodle, and many of the appetizers. I have not had a meal that I did not like. If you want spicy, make sure to tell them you want it "Thai hot"-- after a friend requested this, it was hot enough to make him start sweating (and he's Indian). Their lunch combos are good as well. Not only is the food good, but so is the service-- everyone is always friendly and helpful. I came here for a birthday dinner with 15 friends -- they were very accommodating and gave us separate checks without a problem. If you're looking for a low-key quiet place on a Friday/Saturday evening in the Del Ray area, this is your place!

    (4)
  • Fuzz H.

Not quite as flavorful as other thai restaurants, but being the only thai restaurant in the del ray area, they don't really have to compete that hard for business. Delivery is slow, so we just get carryout (15 mins). The decor in the building is cozy, and the appearance of the food tempts you into thinking you're about to eat something tastier than what you're actually getting. The food's not bad by any means, you just don't really get any of the lemongrass/galangal smells/tastes that you would normally expect.

  • Katy L.

This is my husband and mine's favorite Thai place in the DC area. And it is great because it is right down from our house. I never really deviate in what I get and either does he. Red curry for me, green curry from him. But consistently, they are both outstanding. I usually try to save some for leftovers, but I generally always fail. The service is also great. They will bring extra rice whenever you ask for it and are speedy with their takeout orders. I've never sat upstairs, but the downstairs dining room is on the small side and the decor is a little blah, but who cares? Maybe one of these days I will deviate from my usual order, but I highly doubt that.

    (4)
  • Sarah D.

I love their food, but every time I try to call the phone rings forever and no one ever answers. I always want delivery or at least to be able to make and order for pick up but out of the 5 times I've called their restaurant, they NEVER answer. I've checked the phone number I'm using and its the one listed on Yelp and on their website. Its really disappointing.

Thai deliciousness (I've only done lunch special take-out only). Drunken noodle fan w/ vegetables---excellent! Pad See Ew is pretty good too. Quickly prepared; good sized lunch portions (soup and spring roll combo). *Ask for little oil!

Del Ray cuteness in Thai. Post workout Monday meal brought us here. Cozy and rather quick. We started with soups. I ordered gung jued. Chicken broth, minced chicken, veggies, tofu and crystal noodles. Yum! I could've used a little bit of sriacha to spice it up, but it was great the way it was as well. I ordered Chicken Pa-Ram (chicken in a peanut sauce) for dinner. I had never had it before, so this was something new to me. It was a thicker version of the peanut dressing you get on salads. I wasn't that big of a fan. I ate the meat with the broccoli that it came with and was happily full pretty fast. I think once the weather gets a little better, I'd love to sit on their outdoor patio. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. They make you feel like family and never let your glass sit empty for too long.

khop khun Del Ray & Thai Peppers. Actually thank you for a beautiful Monday afternoon without work, because I rediscovered the joys of a $6.95 spiciy green curry lunch with spring roll and fresh soup. I had been here once previously for take-out and was not in the mood and I had not returned. But having spent three weeks in Thailand last month and the allure of playing hooky on a Federal holiday brought me back and I was inspired by the warm service and tasty food served quickly. A welcome bit of spice in sometimes mild Del Ray. I can't wait for spring to return so I can get outside with my Thai food. Ugh!

Nicely spiced! Located in a house on Mt. Vernon, we happened on this place on our way to the Birchmere. Had SaTay and soup, both nicely spicey and well presented. Good choice for Thai in this part of Alexandria. I'd come back.

Thai Peppers is not a bad place to eat if you're in the Del Ray (Alexandria) area. The Pad-Kra-Pow (Basil stir fry) and Spicy Red curry had flavor but needed more spiciness. Takeout was fast like a Tuk Tuk driving through rush hour in Bangkok! Unfortunately the serving size was Udoni Thani tiny small and not Bangkok gigantic. Prices of course were in US over-inflated dollars.

The food at Thai Pepper is OK. It's the only Thai restaurant (that I know of) in Del Ray, so it's the "only game in town". Having said that, and having read one of the other reviews, I'd suggest walking to Thailand (sounds like the name of a song, doesn't it?) if you want good Thai food in a hurry! EVERY-SINGLE-TIME we call for delivery, we're told "it'll take an hour", and we live so close to the restaurant we can practically see them from our front porch. Believe me, it's not worth the wait.

Really good Pad Kind Mow, although it was a little short on meat. The mango with sticky rice is great too!

One of the best Thai places I have found in the area. However average compared to Thai restaurants I've had. Decent food and a good price

Respectable Thai restaurant with very attractive lunch special. For just $6.95, you get a cup of soup, an egg roll, and an entree. I'll just echo James L. who says, "It's certainly not the best Thai food I've eaten, but not the worst either. I think the most appropriate word to describe this place is 'quaint'." I'd rather gorge at the Thai buffet near Eden Center but I guess I'll settle for something closer to home. [Original Visit: Sept. 1, 2011]

I often times wonder if restaurants are out back slaughtering my dinner when it takes them forever and a day to bring it. On a more positive note, they deliver and it's good stuff. My spicy Thai eggplant was delicious, more so because I requested cashews in it and they fulfilled my cashew and eggplant desires. Don't be fooled though, it's not all that spicy. What's not to love about a dish with the name "KaNom-Jeep"? It was, like the name says, "nom." Little dumplings, stuffed with yummies, with a side of soy and peanut dipping sauce. We even got an order of the beef fried rice - awesome. There is another beef dish which was ordered, the name escapes me, but just know the meat was too tough. Not somewhere I would call for delivery after work again...much too long of a wait.

I think of Thai Peppers as a special little place for me and moms. She's the only person I've been here with, I guess that's why. I don't work summers, and she's retired, so in warm months we have lunch dates in our favorite neighborhood, Del Ray. We change up where we eat, but we end up at Thai Peppers fairly frequently -- the lunch deals are a ridiculous bargain. And in the summer you can forgo the tiny, cramped dining room for the lovely little patio on Mount Vernon. Is it the best Thai food in the world? No. Is it good? Yeah. For the low, low price of $6.95 you can get a lunch entrée with soup and a spring roll. It's a perfect and satisfying portion of food. You can also get just about anything on the menu as your lunch, rather than having to choose from a limited and preselected menu like most places. Pad See Ew is one of my favorite Thai dishes, and Thai Peppers' version is pretty good. I get it with the tofu, but you have your choice of meats: chicken; or beef, pork, or shrimp which will cost you around a dollar extra on top of the $6.95. Still a bargain if you ask me. Pad Thai is pretty standard, too. Not the best I've had by any stretch of the imagination, but passable. Spring rolls (chicken or veg) are typical, and the soup is usually a basic but comforting vegetable in a clear broth. Fried tofu appetizer is done well, and the accompanying dipping sauce is nice. Service is pleasant. TP isn't trying to attract throngs of people from all across the DMV, which means the restaurant has a great little neighborhood feel. "Quaint," as James L. so aptly observed. I know: Most. Boring review. Ever. But you know more about Thai Peppers now than before you began reading, so...mission accomplished.

Being half-Thai I can be a Thai food snob...but I'm happy with these guys as a regular customer, because they bring it to my house! Although we do eat in the restaurant we definitely use them for delivery the majority of the time, and my review is more based on that. Delivery Thai in Del Ray is a good thing to have. When we do eat in I love the service...friendly, in nice weather there's the patio. And really friendly staff. Small place though, but it's Del Ray. Delivery is always fast and delicious, although I wish they could keep their basil duck crispier. Basically don't order that delivery. Things they do deliver well that you think might not travel - spring rolls. Unlike every Chinese place in the area these guys now how to vent to trays to get them to you crisp, and they give you four to an order. Satay they do a great job with as well, although it appears to be broiled vice grilled on flame. Yummy though and i like their peanut saucel. The entrees and curries arrive great - they use a variety of containers that are appropriate to the meal. Love them for that. I probably have 10 old containers in my Tupperware cabinet from them I still use for taking lunches to work - most of the main dishes come in them, while the noodle and rice dishes come in styrofoam. Overall, If you live in this area you have a wealth of Thai options. If I'm going to make a point of going out to eat Thai food, to be honest, I probably wouldn't come here unless I wanted to be in Del Ray - Duangrats is a few miles out, as well as Thai Square in Arlington (awesome hole-in-the-wall place on Columbia Pike!). That said, it's always a pleasant place to go that consistently provides good stuff. I look forward to them staying around!

I am not spoiled for choices when it comes to Thai food in the Arlandria area. I mean Po Siam is an amazing option, but it requires driving, so I usually just settle for Thai Peppers, a friendly if not remarkable place. From my repeated visits, I've found the service to be polite and efficient. When they say my takeout will take ten minutes to prepare, they mean it. I arrive exactly ten minutes after placing my order to a smiley face and a nice warm brown bag waiting for me. Though the contents of the doggy bag are often mediocre and begging for more spice, the reliability of this Del Ray Thai restaurant make it a good lunch spot. You can't beat the lunch special--$6.95 for soup, egg roll and your entree of choice. Not many other Del Ray joints could boast such a bargain price, or serve such generous servings. While most menu listings are pretty okay, the spicy basil fried rice is a thrilling surprise. I was so pleased to discover that Thai Peppers could churn out something with enough heat to make a Thai person fan his or her tongue. If you want Thai food, like real Thai food, get the spicy basil fried rice. If you can't handle the heat, all other menu items should suffice.

So delicious! I got take out, and the portions are generous and very yummy. I recommend the curry. The food was also prepared quickly, and the staff is very friendly. The atmosphere inside is very cute and cozy, too. I definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for some nice local Thai!

This place is awesome for lunch. Their lunch special is around $7.50 and includes an entree, soup, and spring roll. The actual food has been consistently tasty and is always ready fairly quickly...within ten or fifteen minutes. Staff has always been pleasant to deal with. I usually don't go for dinner....the prices amp up a fair amount.

I was wandering around Del Ray one rainy afternoon and once I spotted this place I decided to stop in for lunch. They have a great lunch special for $6.95 with soup of the day and spring roll with your choice of meat or mixed veggies with a variety of options from masaman curry to fried rice. I picked the masaman curry with mixed veggies and it was delicious! Sure the place lacks in decor but I have always found that the less showy a place is the better the food is. Showiness is usually over compensating for crappy food right? The service was prompt and pleasant and I would definitely recommend the place to anyone. And to the guy who said there were only five tables in there, you must have been wearing blinders!!! There is a large patio to side and upstairs is another dining area!

The Joint. If you find yourself in Del Ray and aching for Thai, look no further. After numerous visits, take-out orders and deliveries, I have not yet been disappointed. Recommend the curries. As others have mentioned, the staff is especially courteous.

Wonderful service. We arrived shortly before they closed but they stayed open for us. The food was the best thai food I've had in this area and it was affordable. Cheapish beer as well. Great ambiance at night.

Totally disappointing - had the drunken noodle. The noodles tasted a little burnt and lacked flavor. It said it was spicy - I've had sodas that were spicier than this. Initially I thought the portion size was very healthy - turned out they stuck some crappy week old lettuce on the bottom to inflate the size. My wife had mixed vegetables with tofu - which "wasn't disgusting." If you want to go to a place where the best you can hope to say "wasn't disgusting," this is the place for you.

I feel bad about a two star rating. Not that bad. I want to like this place, mostly because I can walk there and because the prices are very reasonable, but just can't. There are maybe five tables downstairs, never been upstairs. Can't tell if there is a upstairs. But there are stairs, and they go up. Because there are five tables, the services if fairly attentive. But... The food was takeout food. Not bland so much as not good. And most people seemed to stop in just long enough to pick up their food in a plastic bag and go right out., which is probably the correct approach. For comparison, Peppers makes the blandness that is Thaiphoon seem inventive. At the end of the meal I didn't even want to finish my plate. Of the few people actually sitting, they all seemed to be regulars. Which to me is not a sign that you have a good restaurant, but that you have a convenient restaurant. (Similar to Wave Noodle, West Chester PA, yelp.com/biz/wave-noodle… ) So if you live in Del Ray, worth a try, might be your thing. But don't stop here if you don't live here.

I want to like this place. But the experience was nothing spectacular. It is a cozy-looking spot in the heart of Del Ray, with a nifty outdoor section. But with all of the other Thai options in the area, Thai Peppers comes up short - in service, and quality. The staff seemed to be more attentive to the people sitting outside and upstairs. It took far too long for drink refills, and the party at the table next to me started looking anxious as they waited about 20 minutes for the entrees to arrive. And we were in the main room next to the kitchen. I've never been to a restaurant that doesn't have salt and pepper on the table. Didn't feel like waiting five minutes for the shakers to arrive, so I dove into my entree (broccoli and tofu in peanut sauce) without pepper. Another table next to us had to flag down a server to get sauces for the appetizers. My entree was meh - I'm not an expert on tofu, but I've had it at several other Thai restaurants around town, and the tofu here seemed, what's the word, stale. The peanut sauce was more like Mexican mole sauce - really heavy duty stuff. Thai Shirlington really blows this place away, in quality and service.

Nice people but bad food. Don't be tempted. Despite the cute and warm decor, the food here is just plain bad. The best way I could describe it is gringo Thai food. Despite the very reasonable prices and name which implies bold flavors, this place has among the most bland Thai food I've ever had. I think the only place I've experienced worse Thai food was in Detroit. I'd highly recommend Thailand Royal Street if you don't want to go far from here, but Thai Square if you're willing to drive up to Arlington is even better.

Yea, i'd stick to the carryout option.... I jus wanted a quick bite before riding home. Spring rolls and some appetizers seemed like it'd fit the bill, so we stopped in this spot. Very small and you could smell every meal as if it was being prepared right under your nose... which leads to a combination of smells bordering on smelling like a chicken coop. Very basic asian decor witht he faux monet painting tables and wobbly chairs. then there was that smell again... i had my tea and the appetizers came out fast and they were just plain, and lacking any seasoning that I remember Thai food having. I left there and kept smelling my jacket which smelled jus like the place.... I think i used half a bottle of febreeze to get the smell off....

I agree with those who say this place is bland. There are always "benchmark dishes" one can try to get a feel for a place, and for me personally, Pad Thai would be such a dish for Thai restaurants. I ordered the Pad Thai tonight, and it was just tired-looking and bland-tasting. I couldn't taste much of the peanut sauce at all -- the predominant flavor was the faint sweet-and-sour sauce on the noodles. The beef was dry, and some pieces were chewy even. The menu selection is also very ordinary -- no specialty that one can point to. As another reviewer pointed out - for those prices (a bit over $10 including tax for the Pad Thai), you can certainly find better-tasting Thai food elsewhere in Alexandria. The only redeeming thing is that it's quaint-looking, and in a quaint neighborhood, but I'm not really there to admire the scenery either! To be fair, it wasn't horrible; it was just very very ordinary.

Very good service whether you dine in or carry out. Excellent curry and pad thai. I asked them to tone it down from 3 peppers to 2 and it was still pretty spicy for me, but I may just be a spice weenie.

My wife and I dined at Thai Peppers in the Del Ray neighborhood on Friday March 7th. We were very impressed. While the food was not quite to the level of Duangrats, it was very good for the price. The size of the place is deceiving - there are tables for only approximately 15 people. However, there is a 2nd level of seating that sits at least another 20-25, so do not be discouraged if you walk in and all tables on the first floor are full. Service was very good. Two separate servers attended to our table, and we never had to wait long for follow up or desert menu's. I enjoyed the red curry with shrimp, and was very happy with it. The curry was hot, but not to a point where it overwhelmed the flavors of the other ingredients. My wife enjoyed shrimp and snow peas - she generally avoids heat, and was happy to report that he dish was flavorful but mild enough for her. For dessert we ordered the Thai custard and sweet sticky rice. I will admit I am not an expert on Thai deserts, but ours was heavenly, and I highly recommend it. Also, I ordered the Thai Iced Coffee, and as a discerning coffee addict, the marriage of the strong coffee to the sweet condensed milk was so sensual, it may be classified as a sinful act. A good neighborhood restaurant - we will return!

I really want to give them 3.5, but when when in Yelp, I do as Yelpers. But, they deserve to be rounded to four and here's why: 1. Fantastic lunch deal: $6.95 gets you Tom-Yum soup, lunch entree and a spring roll in very decent portions. The Tom-Yum is fantastic. 2. They offer free deliver in the neighborhood. $20 minimum order for dinner and $15 for lunch. 3. The people there are very friendly and kind. The restaurant has a side patio and a small, two-floor dining room. The spring rolls are consistently crisp and not greasy. Our staples are chicken and basil, clay pot shrimp and thai fried rice. If you eat in the restaurant, ask to see the hot sauce. They bring you out about 5 little jars of unique sauces, chiles and vinegars. The other night was a little chilly and I wanted something to warm my belly so I tried the Gang Jued soup. FANTASTIC. It's the cure for a chill in your bones. It's minced chicken, crystal noodles, tofu and mixed veggies in a chicken broth. Yum, yum, yum! Thai Peppers isn't going to be the best Thai you've ever had, but it's always going to be good, fairly priced and served with a smile.

This place is just ok. Back in the day I used to live over by the Pentagon and I would crave Bangkok 54. Now that I've moved away from there, the hunt is on for a great Thai place near Old Town. I've tried this place twice now. Both times the food was just ok. Nothing to make me really want to go there other than for the convenience factor. They did have a tasty appetizer the second time of chive dumplings that I enjoyed, but the farmers curry and pad kee mao where sort of 'eh'. I will say that the people working there are very friendly and polite. I give them an extra star for service, which makes up for the lackluster food.

After eating at the former Thai Peppers on King St., I was kind of shocked at the miniscule size of their Del Ray space. I think they only have 5 tables with a capacity of 15 people. My wife and I met a friend there for dinner on a Thursday night, so there wasn't a problem getting a table. In fact, it appeared that most of their business was carry out or delivery. The décor wasn't anything to write home or Yelp about, but I guess I'm doing one of these things anyway. Who knows, maybe my mom checks Yelp so I'd be doing both. The tables were covered in thick plastic and kinda sticky, but whatever. The menu was not as large as most Thai restaurants, but they had the basics. It was somewhat "Americanized" in it's contents and dish names. I started with the Angel Wings. The description was too awesome to resist. Chicken wings stuffed with pork, chicken, and clear noodles. Seriously, chicken stuffed with pig and more chicken? Fucking fantastic. Too bad they were fucking dry. I also got the red curry with beef. Usually colored curry with dead animal comes with maybe some onions or maybe some peppers or maybe some potatoes. Not here. It was just slices of beef and red curry sauce. Pretty terrible. My wife got drunken noodles or some approximation of drunken noodles and it was too spicy for my liking. The service was fine and probably the only reason I am not giving this place one star. It's a shame that the food is not at least average because this place has the potential to be a very nice Del Ray neighborhood spot. Aside from a few gems (Godmother and Cheesetique) the Mt. Vernon strip continues to disappoint me.

I came in at lunch on Saturday. I beat the crowd by about 20 minutes, so they had time to talk about vegan food and food allergies. The woman was so sweet - she took my list of allergies and spoke with the chef, then she came back to me and showed me everything that could be made vegan on the menu. There is a lot. The curries can be made vegan and allergen-free, so I ordered green curry. It was delicious. It had 3 chilies next to it on the menu = hot hot hot, but it wasn't as hot as I expected. I asked the server if it was Thai hot or American hot, and she said they make it American hot to be careful for the customers who might not like Thai hot. She brought out an array of picante spices and had chopsticks for me when I asked. I am very happy to find a local restaurant with vegan, allergen-free food available. On top of that, at least one of them is sweet and conversational, and non-judgmental of vegans. That's terrific!

Had dinner here last night and was satisfied, especially after an awful experience with a Thai place in Old Town. I felt like I was having dinner in someone's house, the atmosphere itself was so cozy. I had the pad thai, as it is my policy to try the pad thai in order to determine if I will return. I will. We started off with (fried) vegetarian spring rolls, which were okay but nothing to write home - or scream about on Yelp. My partner had the yellow curry special, which was creamy good.

Nice place. Nothing stellar, but good. They have consistent quality and stuff is pretty tasty. Price value isn't wonderful. Atmosphere isn't great, but you can eat outside, which is very nice. The Ka Nom Jeep (A9) dumplings are to die for. They are NOT worth the $7 you pay for five (one person can easily eat five). The curries are a bit heavy on the sauce and meat and a bit light on the vegetable matter-- I never have any leftovers (even if I never leave hungry). I've always thought that I was a world champion of hot foods until I ordered the red curry extra spicy-- usually extra hot means mild by my standards, but this stuff knocked my socks off. Consumption of the extra spicy red curry required post-consumption recovery. :) Be careful when ordering rice-- each entree comes with rice but they give you a pathetic portion of rice with the entrée. I think it is a bit of a scam-- as a party of three we paid $8 for sufficient rice. Hm. I'll invariably come back, despite it being imperfect. And I will enjoy it again. =P

My husband and I love this place! We go almost every week. The staff are always friendly. The food is always yummy! The pricing is more than reasonable. The chicken is very good. It's never tough or fatty. We take everyone who comes to visit us here and they've all loved it!

Thai Peppers offers pretty good Thai food. Their green curry is some of the best I've ever had anywhere; very fragrant with a perfect blend of ingredients. Their pad thai is just mediocre/good (then again I don't think pad thai is ever bad). The noodles are a bit overdone. They offer very generous portions and we find with our carry out we always have something left over for lunch the next day. All in all a really good Thai place in the Alexandria area.

We've been here a few times recently and we really like it. It seems to be family owned, at least it's the very same people in there every time, and the food has been consistently awesome. I don't claim to be a Thai expert as I've tried about .01% of the cuisine but it's good enough that I keep coming back for it!

  • Donna H.

I've tried several dishes from here (soups and entrees mostly) and they are all great except for their pad thai. It's unfortunate since this is a staple in my house (which I haven't been able to replicate), and is really not worth eating from here. A plate of warm sadness. But everything else is wonderful.

We seriously order takeout here once a week. Their peanut curry is terrific, and I can't get enough of their chicken wing apps. Just a very well done place. It seems in the high price end, but it's good stuff for sure.

I only like a couple of blocks away from this restaurant, so decided recently to order dinner to go. I chose a couple of simple Thai staples, Tom Kha Kai soup and Beef Pad Kra Prow. I told them over the phone that I liked my food very spicy; as spicy as it would be in Thailand. Both of these items have three spiciness stars on their menu, so I was expecting a nice hot meal. Boy, was I disappointed. The Tom Kha soup was bland, with no discernible spiciness at all. Weak coconut milk flavor. Barely any lime juice or cilantro. Sub-par chicken. The Pad Ka Prow was even worse. Not only was the portion small, but it was also devoid of fresh peppers. There were only a few dried pepper flakes, the kind you would shake from a jar onto a slice of pizza. Everything about this dish was dull, dull, dull. They call themselves Thai Peppers and they don't even use peppers, ever if you specifically ask for them? No excuse. When I lived in Greenwich Village, I got food regularly from a tiny Thai takeout in Chelsea Market. When I asked for extra spicy, the would pause and ask me if I really meant that, but they cooked me food that was Thai spicy. So did restaurants on Connecticut Avenue when I was living here 20 years ago. Thai Peppers' food tastes like one of the many Manhattan Thai restaurants that are run by Chinese people. They seem to have no clue about what the food is supposed to taste like.

Tai Peppers food is decent, but not great. The Pad Ka Prow is my favorite. The staff is friendly too, and the part of Del Ray the restaurant's in is very small town picturesque. I've had a hard time getting things ordered spicy enough. Yes... I like it hot. No! I won't send it back. Just gimme some peppers! Eating here on a sunny evening is great if you can get a spot outside. The inside looks like they turned an unfurnished apartment into a sparsely furnished dinning area.

vegan reviewer, huge thai food fan. i really really like this place. the food is consistently good and the wait staff is very friendly. i don't really know what else i can say. it's solid. the inside of the restaurant is a bit greasy spoon, but when it's warm, the patio is amazing.

  • Jina S.

I have to be honest. Thai Peppers isn't my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. In fact, almost every dish I've eaten there, with the exception of one, was simply not that good. Ironically though, they serve a delicious version of one of my favorite Thai dishes. The 4 stars are for that dish. The Pad-Kra-Pow with chicken is a little sweet, a little spicy and bursting with the flavors of sweet basil and chilli. The chicken is cooked in a garlicy soy sauce with fresh red and green peppers, mushrooms and onions. And if you get the lunch special (served Monday-Friday for only $6.95) you'll get a crispy spring roll and bowl of warm chicken and veggie soup to go with it.

Old Town suffers from a lack of good Thai restaurants (Mai Thai is uninspired, Red Curry's service is awfully slow, and Old Town Thai is rather boring). Fortunately, Thai Peppers brings the heat, and their dishes seem brighter and tastier, as well as being more traditionally Thai, instead of watered-down "Thai." Prices are reasonable, portions are not ridiculously huge but large enough to share, and their lunch special is really a deal. You're best off if you avoid noodle-based dishes and pad Thai, which tends to be bland and heavy, and stick with the curries, which are nicely spicy and creamy. The ambiance leaves something to be desired-Thai Peppers is in a repurposed house and while that can sometimes be quaint and charming (with extensive overhauling and a good decorator) the downstairs dining area is oddly shaped and cramped, and you'll either be in a corner or next to the front door, which means that people picking up carryout and phone conversations behind you will be hard to ignore. In the summer, try to sit on the patio outside if you can. There's allegedly a second story too, but I've never been seated there. Service is fast and fairly attentive. It would be hard to accommodate a large party in the cramped downstairs, so you're better off with groups of no more than four. Hopefully soon the Old Town/Del Ray area will get a really top notch Thai restaurant. Until then, Thai Peppers is a good bet for spicy curries in an informal setting.

There's a reason I call this restaurant "OK Thai." Simply put, it's only ok. Living within walking distance we've tried it many times, each thinking that maybe we just had a bad experience the last time . . . and each time we're reminded that - yep - it's still just ok. Yes, the service is very friendly and prompt. But the food just....well, leaves a lot to be desired. The curries have the requisite flavors, but not in a way that makes you say "wow." I make better curries at home, and I'm not that great a Thai cook. The Pad Thai, a savory staple at any Thai restaurant, is usually dry and flavorless. We are no longer going back to Thai Peppers. To me, it's just not worth the money.

Pretty darn good food--and excellent service. I love the Pad Thai and the curry.

This was my first taste of Thai. I have since then had a few other tastes to baseline against. With that said the staff is friendly and the service quick. If you like Thai then the food will suit you well. I would recommend against it for newbies as the menu is not friendly to the untrained.

Really tasty and solid Thai food with nice sized portions. This place is best for takeout or delivery because the atmosphere is kinda lame unless it's nice enough to go outside.

This is one of my favorite places in the area to go for Thai. The food is good and the service is prompt. I wish some of their spicy dishes were a little spicier. I was expecting a little more heat and was a little let down. I would recommend eating outside on a nice day. The inside looks a little cramped.

Decent thai food. I recommend the brown rice for the extra dollar. For the vegetarians out there, note that the tofu is fried. I didn't get the chance to ask for it not fried but I'm sure they would make it that way for you. Also, the dishes aren't super spicy so don't be afraid to try the items with peppers next to them on the menu.

I recently moved to an apartment very near Thai peppers, so I decided to try it out. It was OK. It wasn't bad, but I doubt I'd drive out of my way to go or get it delivered. That being said its super convenient to me, so I may go back. We had the pad thai (how I judge all thai places), it was decent. We also had the cashew chicken, and it was disappointing. Also had the spring rolls, which were a little bland, but delightfully crispy. Mai Thai, Old Town Thai, Red Mei (old town alex), Thai Square, Bangkok 54 (arlington), are all better Thai restaurants, but if thai pepper is ok.

Being Thai and eating here the first time, I will say it's okay. Yes staff are friendly especially with my 2 1/2" years old son. Their lunch deal is as good as you can get.

Given that this place is only 3 blocks from my house, I wish I could give it better reviews, but 3 stars is a stretch. Their lunch specials are a good deal, we often get them because it is so close by. Food is ok. My favorite, the red curry, has been too watery for my tastes every time I've ordered. For better Thai, go down Mt. Vernon (away from Old Town/Braddock Road metro) about a mile to PoSiam..

Agree with all of the other reviewers -- this is some of the blandest, most mediocre Thai food to be found in the Washington, DC area. There are too many other options to eat here.
