Lost Dog Cafe Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Fantastic food and staff, great location, but entirely too overpriced. Pizza is very good, the salads are big and the vegan options are good (and the gluten free options). Great place for picky eaters. Decor is cool, bright, fresh, and contemporary, but "comfortable." So glad I work around the corner. However, lower those prices, please!

A sibling spot of its Arlington big brother, this location lacks a little bit of the formers small grocery feel, but it's all chill. They got a lively out door patio to sip some sip some beers or wine and take in the scene. The surrounds are a up and coming neighborhood sprouting out of a former demilitarized Zone, compete with hipster parents taking little ones out for a stroll. The menu: pizza, salad and subs, all mainstream or elecletic enough for your taste. The owner is frequently there and the staff is young, tragically hip and mostly on the ball. A good place to get some slices, relax and contemplate the upcoming week on a mild Sunday afternoon.

I've been meaning to write a review of this place for YEARS... yes YEARS as I used to order from the Columbia pike location but now this one is closer and I have to say this place actually has slightly better tasting food. I order from here if not once a week twice a week at least. My Husband and I love the menu variety, the fast delivery, and when we dine in the beer menu is awesome. The best part about this place is supporting the Lost Dog and Cat rescue which is so cool! Here are some of our favorite's: Appetizer's: Chicken Corn Chowder Tomato Bisque Grecian Dog Dip Caesar Salad Greek Salad Lost Dog Dip Sandwiches: The Phoenix Sandwich Redskin Sandwich Chicken BBQ Sandwich Emory's Portabella Sandwich Grilled Cheese Sandwich Mixed Italian Sandwich Pizzas: they are all good but these I like to get a lot. Mickey's Magic Pie White Pizza Pie 2

The Braddock Road metro area has been waiting for some neighborhood restaurants for quite some time and I thought Lost Dog would've been a nice addition. I come here for a drink since I'm bored on a Thursday night and come to find a list of beers...that are all $7 and up. Not exactly what I want when I just want a beer. Came back a few weeks later after having no groceries at home. Tried the fettuccine Neptune which has crab, shrimp, and bay scallops. Sounds amazing...but it was actually really bland. Pasta is so simple yet so easy to mess up. Lost Dog messed it up. No flavor whatsoever. Basic rule is if you add cream you need to add salt. Alfredo sauce being basically all cream...needs quite a bit of salt to balance the flavor. Would never eat from this place again. Waffle fries are pretty bomb. If you want good fries with less than mediocre food and expensive fucking beer...go to Lost Dog Cafe.

I'm staying at a nearby hotel and was looking for a bite at walking distance. I found this corner delight. They have a huge variety of sandwiches and pizzas. Clever names too. I had the cowboy which is like a philly cheese steak sandwich. Great service too. They deliver if you order is over $20.

Let me just say I'm totally appalled at all the reviews about the service being bad due to people "learning"...they just opened. Lets all be a little kinder to each other people! I've been to this location twice, once w/ a group and back on my own, both times at the bar. Both times they were generous about the information w/ the beers. When they didn't know they offered me a sample. Nothing more annoying than a bartender trying to bullshit me with "buzz" words like floral and aromatic. They stopped and got me involved in the process, I really like that. The food was great. At one point I asked about a side of chili for my fries. She informed me that it was not on the menu; but I can grab you a ramekin on my own. Both informative, I may not be able to get this in the future and kind. The only small negative I have is that they use shredded lettuce that soaked up all of the garlic mayo instead of it going on my chicken inside the sandwich. Then the lettuce was more like coleslaw. Maybe switch the order? Over all a nice friendly place w/ street parking. Happy to have them in the neighborhood.

In my opinion the best, friendliest, and most light filled of the lost dog restaurants. The food was spectacular, the service was excellent, and I will definately be coming back. Also, in case you haven't tried them, get the dog collars as a side!

Excellent food all around and plenty of gluten free options, even dessert. Really enjoyed the bureaucrat. Nice thick bacon on top of smoked turkey breast.

Great food. Great beer and wine menu. .. and they deliver 6 packs to your home ... 5$ minimum food order required . What's better than that !! .. exceptional service from erik and Kelly.

It's a mixed bag. The onion rings were dreadful, the Cowboy (roast beef sub) was fantastic. The Chicken corn chowder was pretty good, not quite creamy enough but delicious. The pizza was also pretty good but the seafood salad sub was disappointing. They do have Dominion root beer on tap which is amazing and a really wide selection of wonderful draft beers. Service is excellent, ambiance is nice, booths are comfy and it isn't too loud. I'd go again if I was in the area.

I was thrilled when I saw this place finally opened: there aren't a ton of dining options in Parker Gray, and I live literally right upstairs. While I wouldn't really go out of my way to dine here, it's a great addition to the neighborhood. I went for a late sunday lunch with my husband about a week after they opened. They have a decent beer list with plenty of local options. The menu is huge, to the point of being sort of overwhelming. My husband ended up ordering a pizza, and I had a sandwich (maybe the buffalo beagle?). Both came out reasonably quickly, were warm and tasty. The portions were a bit large, so I might recommend splitting them in the future. We also split a side of onion rings, which were great -- fresh made with a really yummy horseradish sauce to dip in. Overall, I will definitely be back. My only critique was that our waitress seemed to still be learning her job: she was a bit slow and didn't seem to know the menu, but she was really nice and apologetic. I'm sure after a few weeks, things will smooth out. Overall, it's a great casual neighborhood place. I've seen times when theres been quite a wait to get a table, but once it warms up and they can use the patio, I think that will get better.

My fiancé and I love this place. I've tried two pizzas, two sandwiches and a salad so far. Everything has been amazing, even the healthier options. The sandwiches are super filling and very flavorful. They also have a good selection of craft beer. And their featured brewer changes monthly. I will definitely be going back.

Came here for dinner with a friend. The service was wonderful, our waitress was very attentive and super friendly. There's a large selection of beers on tap and bottled beers. I stuck to iced tea and lemonade. After we settled into a booth, we ordered an avodo-dogo salad and a veggie pizza. The salad was fresh, I'm not sure what to really say about salads..It's just a salad :). It was good though. Veggie pizza was delicious, the crust was not too thin and not too thick, they didn't skimp on toppings. Comfortable, casual place, basic but well cooked food, friendly service. The prices are reasonable. I wasn't expecting gourmet food, just the simple classics. Great addition to our neighborhood!

This place is not all that, and a bag of bad onion rings. My office is about two blocks away from Lost Dog Cafe, me and a co-worker ordered from them she ordered the chicken salad sandwich, with onion rings, potato salad, and a lemonade. I ordered just the onion rings, because I heard from another co-worker that the sandwiches were not all that good. Since our office is two blocks away you would have thought the onion rings would be hot,I was wrong and if you thought that so are you. I asked for my onion rings to be crispy, not burnt there is a difference. My co-worker's sandwich was frozen, and the bread was hard so she could not eat it and, the potato salad was full of onions. She said it should be called potato-onion salad. We will not order from this place again!! Only good thing was the lemonade.

If you want delivery food that tastes like you ordered it yesterday, this is the place for you. Have eaten here twice in person and food was great. Tried delivery and it was terrible. Bread was hard, cheese congealed, onion rings showed up as a ball of nastiness, and chips were stale. Never again.

We love Lost Dog. We get it quite often because we can get a really good pizza for me and a really good salad for my fiance. The pizza is always amazing and my fiance loves the avodago salad with passion. Yesterday we ordered both for delivery (we both had long days and weren't able to cook) and she can only eat the feta vinaigrette with the salad because of a special diet she is on. Unfortunately, when it arrived it didn't come with the feta vinaigrette, but came with the standard balsamic vinaigrette, which is a very understandable and forgivable overlook. I reluctantly called back and let them know that we didn't receive the feta vinaigrette and immediately they apologized and ran a driver out to deliver it to us. That kind of service is amazing! We love their food and customer service! This is a great place for a meal and we always recommend it to everyone we know.

Great pizza, delivered fast to our hotel room. After a long day of sightseeing, we got back to the hotel and did not want to go back out. We found this restaurant on yelp and ordered through yelp (eat24 service)..The food was delivered quickly and was piping hot. Great flavor on our custom pizza.

Lost Dog Cafe is my new favorite restaurant in the area. The service was great and the food even better. They have over 53 sandwiches in addition to pizzas, salads, sides and more. They also have an extensive beer collection. I can't remember the name of the sandwich I got but it had turkey, roast beef, bacon, cheese, lettuce--it was amazing and huge. The warm spinach dip and Italian fries are also delicious. All in all, I cannot wait to return.

I've been super excited to try Lost Dog Cafe. Specifically because we got our youngest family member from the Lost Dog and Cats Rescue Foundation. So I ordered food to go. Salad, grilled cheese, onion rings, and some pasta/pizza (for kids). First of all, I didn't get any silverware. So, I had no way of eating my pasta or my salad. I told the kids to eat the pasta with their fingers and I ate the chicken off of my salad. The onion rings were burned (but just on one side like they sat in a pan or something? So weird). The pasta was whatever. Noodles. That were overcooked. And had basic sauce that seemed like it was out of a jar poured over it but it was a kids meal so I excused it. The WORST part. Since I couldn't eat my salad (due to no silverware), I ate the grilled cheese. Well I ate cheese. On bread. That was microwaved to melt the cheese. For $5.95. You gotta be kidding me. Not. Even. Grilled. At all. Not like they didn't cook it long enough. Dry bread. With melted cheese. What the heck? Don't think I'll ever go back. And how could I recommend this to anyone?

We enjoyed lunch today at Lost Dog Cafe and were able to miss the lunch rush. Although it was a bustling crowd, the service and atmosphere was great. We ordered the California Dreamin' and the El Bandido. The portion size was perfect and the sandwiches were tasty. The California Dreamin' sandwich was a bit dry, but with a side of mustard the sandwich was tasty. The El Bandido tastes just right. Definitely will return.

This is a welcome addition to the North Old Town Alexandria/Braddock Metro area scene! We really needed just this kind of friendly restaurant. Some of the other comments about service, etc. are interesting to me as this place did not do a soft opening since the original planned opening of a week before Christmas was delayed due to permitting issues, understanding that staff was learning on the fly how to operate this new location gives me an even better appreciation for how well they performed! Since its opening in the first week of January, I've eaten here almost every week. The food is very good, all ingredients are very fresh, and the service staff is friendly and helpful. The owners are there all the time (when do they get a break I wonder) and are very involved in the service experience. The menu is one of the most extensive I have seen with offerings for almost any taste. The individual pizzas are perfect, thick and delicious (try the Pitbull if you like pepperoni with a few jalapenos thrown on for pizzazz!), the sandwiches are large and well made; the Fat Albert salad is a real hit (you can tell that they take care in the food they make by how the chicken is freshly grilled and thinly sliced for a great presentation), it's big enough for two people to split. Their chili is hot and delicious, thick and meaty, a real treat. Beer prices are very reasonable since these are craft brews, not domestic mass produced beers. The beer menu selection changes regularly (I understand that the demand for their craft offerings has far exceeded their expectations) meaning that there are new brews to try at almost every visit. You can tell this place is a hit in every regard by the number of people who are there at every time of the day.

I love Lost Dog, so the food was great as always! Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and was attentive. Something was just off about the vibe of the place. The space seemed cramped and incongruous. It felt like a Lost Dog Lite instead of a Lost Dog.

Went here twice for lunch so far - love the chain but this location still has some new opening links to work out. Our server didn't really seem all there - one minute doing a great job and at the end to get our check took 20 mins. I'll be back (because I can't help myself) but hopefully the staff will catch up w the other locations.

Their sandwhiches are amAzing! Especially the rueben. I usually build my own Amd swap out the kraut for coleslaw. They use a bread which reallh tolerates delivery because even w the corned beef and coleslaw the bread still arrives crispy and warm. Unfortunatley their kids meals are a little overpriced for what the kids get. I got my son the pAsta and the noodles were overcooked and portion was small for $6, especially when i had a huge sandwhich for $9. So i just order my sandwhich when im at work

This place is awesome!! So many great beers and the service was very attentive. Matt, our bartender, was personable and knowledgable. They ordered my favorite beer after I asked if they had it! Go and get some great food and beer!

Food is great! There's a huge menu so everyone should be able to find something. They also have a gluten free roll option to use on any sandwich and gluten free pizza. Their in store experience is great. beware if you must call in an order for pick up or delivery. they don't have online ordering set up yet so i had to call in my order (3 sandwiches and fries) and it took 15 minutes because whoever was taking my order had no idea what they were doing and must have had a short term memory disorder. i eventually got fed up and asked to speak to someone else who was able to get the order right (i hope) but i never received an apology. i understand if it's your first day but this was excessive. i was going to give a 4 star review but because of this i'm lowering it to a 2 star. sorry but you need to work on your customer service!!!

I like to compare things, maybe it's the analytical side of me, or maybe I can't judge a place on its own merits. But it also gives me frame of reference to the places I've been. For Lost Dog, I'm going to compare it to Del Ray Pizza, and I'm giving the edge to Lost Dog Now, if I were to judge Lost dog solely on its own merit, it may do not so well, because I felt the food was quite average. My wife's pasta was extremely ordinary with not a lot of flavor, my kids grilled cheese looked like it was barely heated it through the bread, and the onion rings (which they gave complimentary because of the wait time, which was very nice) were just average. I will say I thought the pepperoni and sausage pizza was good, I enjoy the pizza crust from Lost Dog. Now, compare all this to Del Ray Pizza, and I find their food to be equally average. But I find the environment to Lost Dog more pleasing, plus our server was very nice and helpful, given the craziness this place had going on with the crowds and wait times. I do find it rather small inside, but nothing you can do about that, and I'm hoping they do a better job preparing some of their dishes, but as far as just a pizza night out with the family, this place fits the bill.

Never disappointed at Lost Dog! Staff is accommodating, knowledgeable and has a "family" feeling to it. Awesome beer rotation and happy hour. With all of the sandwiches to choose from, you'll never be bored!

Yum! Walking distance so I can stumble home after sampling the delicious beer on tap. Unique and delightful pizza, salads, and sandwiches make a fantastic addition to this up and coming Old Town neighborhood. Delivery is the perfect addition to this restaurant's services. If I don't feel like getting out and about, a hot and ready pie will be delivered to my door within minutes...including beer! The Hawaiian is my favorite. What's yours?

You guys this spot is solid. Tiffany was super sweet. Love that they have gluten free options for both sandwiches and pizza. Loved my gf veggie sandwich. They even sliced up cucumbers for me for the hummus my boyfriend and I shared. He had a club sandwich and actually ate the lettuce on it which is unusual for him. It was our first time and we will be back.

I have been to Lost Dog cafe two times, and both occasions were just okay. The first time I went, I ordered a sandwich called the bird, which is chicken breast (or thats what they called it) seasoned with garlic, tomato sauce and melted parmesan and mozzarella cheeses on a toasted sub roll. First of all, they should not state chicken breast in their menu if they are going to serve shredded chicken. Nevertheless, the sandwich wasn't anything too great, but good enough for the price. The next time I went, I ordered an individual pizza pie which had spinach, mozzerella cheese, and mushrooms. I've been told that they are known for their pizza, but the pizza was just mediocre at best. I'm from New Jersey, so I have high expectations when it comes to pizza. On both occasions, the service was very slow. It must have taken at least 30 to 40 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered. I may go back, but it's not near the top of my list.

Huge fan of this place! They've got a great selection of interesting beers on tap, and their food is decent and worth the price. I'm a vegetarian, and it's nice to see so many options for me on their menu. My one suggestion would be to perhaps put indicators next to the menu items that are vegetarian/vegan; as it stands now, there doesn't seem to be any organization to their menu and it can be tedious to skim through the 50 or so sandwich and pizza offerings. All of their beers are (to my knowledge) served in pint glasses, even some pretty potent 10% ABV brews! They also fill growlers, and have a decent selection of beers in 6-packs. In fact, they also stock ginger beer, which was an awesome surprise to me! I haven't been able to find any in Old Town since the Giant closed. If you're looking for simple, cheap food and an interesting beer list, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a shot.

  • Anna A.

I would probably go closer to 2.5 stars and all of them would be for the beer. The beer is a little pricey but considering that some portion goes to a good cause and the rents in the area, I'm ok with that. I find the food incredibly bland and lacking in flavor. I started to give up on the food when the adult "grilled" cheese I got looked microwaved with no actual butter on the bread. I also think this location needs to professionalize and train their wait staff. There doesn't seem to be any standards when it comes to customer interactions. So, go for a great beer or two and leave it at that!

  • Sloane A.

This is my go to hungover food joint. I always know what I am going to get and the prices are decent for the DC area. I've been told all of their beers are pretty good but they are rather pricey because they are craft.

Stopped here on a whim for takeout on a random Wednesday after picking up donuts from Sugar Shack. I thought it was good. The menu is EXTREMELY overwhelming, in that they have a million and one menu items, but I managed to pick the The Popeye individual pizza. The crust was yummy. I would probably nix the roasted red peppers next time, but that's personal preference. The inside is new and clean and the staff is friendly.

I always loved the Lost Dog in Arlington, but haven't been there in years. When we saw the sign that Lost Dog was coming to Old Town, we were pumped! We've been there twice so far. It's kind if awkward that the main entrance to the restaurant is on the side door (take out uses the front door), but I guess the logistics can't be blamed much on them. We had great food and service. Every person was really nice and enthusiastic. Our goal is to order something different every time we go there.

Pizza and a Restaurant that donates part of its profits to rescue dogs and cats: It doesn't get much better than that in my book. I have wanted to try this place out for some time now, and I was pleased to discover that I had beat the Friday Happy Hour crowd to the punch by 45 minutes; in other words, open seats at the bar, score!! The owner/manager was very helpful, directing me to a crisp Mama's Little Yella Pils beer which was a great way to kick off the weekend. He also pointed out some of their more popular gourmet pizzas, but I loved the fact that I could create my own delicious pie. So a gourmet pizza with extra cheese and mushrooms soon graced my plate, and I was rocking a big pizza smile. The manager informed me that I really needed to let my pizza cool for a few moments or its warm blanket of cheese would slide off the crust. I told him not to worry; after all, this wasn't my first pizza rodeo. A few minutes later, my pizza--combination of tangy cheese and sweet crust--was a slice of perfection, Yum! My experience with the service was also quite good. My bartender JC was friendly, and several of the servers helped me select the perfect T-shirt. Everything was so cool at the Lost Dog Cafe that I know I will return to this one; however, I will make sure that I get here before the crowds roll in on the weekend. All I can say is that this is one pizza puppy that is ready to howl for the Lost Dog's gourmet pies.

I must admit, I am slowly getting addicted to Lost Dog Cafe. I mean, what's not to like? At least a dozen craft beers on tap, a plethora of delicious sandwiches of countless varieties, good pizza on whole wheat crust, and affordable prices darn it! Lost Dog you are quickly becoming one of my weekly destinations. On our most recent visit we tried the Apollo salad, which was great. The salad was huge, which you would expect for $12.95. It's a greek based salad, but comes loaded with chicken that had been cut into strips, blackened, and grilled. I must say it was a good salad, not an over-the-top delicious salad, but it hit the spot. As far as sandwiches go. I do love me a good Italian sandwich, salami, prosciutto, soppressata, you name it, and indeed they have it here, but I oped for the "Grown Up Grilled Cheese." It was right up my alley. Thick, but not too think whole grain bread, nice a toasty, melted cheddar cheese, slices of tomato, and to top it all off they tossed in a few slices of avocado. Now, that's what I'm talking about. This paired perfectly with my Three Stars Ghost IPA! As you can imagine, I'm a fan of Lost Dog Cafe. We've been to the Alexandria location three times now after they opened and have enjoyed every visit. Now the question is, do I start a Yelp challenge to try every sandwich on their menu? Tempting!

Local establishment with a cause. If you're into that, check this place out. I've been twice now and both times, I thought the sandwiches were decent. My first time I got a chicken salad sandwich (the San diego) and it was really just ok. Avocado, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, on wheat berry bread. For me, the sandwich menu is so overwhelming that this place can't be a regular standby. Let me tell you a quick story to demonstrate how extensive their menu is. One afternoon, I decided to walk the 15 minutes to this location. Side note: I was trying to win a fitbit challenge. That didn't happen, but I was pretty darn close. Back to the point. Before I left the office, I settled on a sandwich my Co worker raved about: the coyote. Lean roast beef, LTO, hot peppers, zesty horseradiah, melted cheese on toasted sub. While walking, I decided to call ahead for pick up. But I couldn't access the menu on my phone to remember the name. When the employee answered, I tell him my problem and he graciously agrees to help. I tell him what's on the sandwich, and he doesn't know it. He puts me on hold, comes back with a name and description that is not correct. I tell him, it's hot, has roast beef, zesty horseradish, etc. Puts me on hold again. Finally comes back with the right answer! But that begs the question. When is a menu too long? When some guests get overwhelmed by the number of items? When your employees can't easily memorize the options? Or when there are so many sandwiches with zesty horseradish sauce that they can get confused with something else? The sandwich was tasty but it didn't blow my mind. The sauce wasn't too overwhelming for someone who doesn't usually pick that type. It may be months before I go back, but I'd probably get something else. It would be great if the menu was categorized by sandwich type, hot or cold, vegetarian, etc. That would get rid of the need to read each description on the menu when you're inside the restaurant. The online menu has pictures. Sandwiches are served a la carte so be prepared to shell out extra money if you want a side. Apparently, there is difference in cost between chips and a pickle versus just chips. Keep your pickle, Lost Dog. I don't need it.

Super casual, supporting the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue, their sandwiches are very tasty and made of unique combinations (try 53 of them plus the endless combos of the create your own...). There's pizza and pastas as well, which makes their menu quite extensive. I went with their Sammy's Club a nice sandwich with chicken, bacon, avocado and Brie, I finished in seconds! Inexpensive and family friendly, this is a nice place away from the King Street standards. #AsianLadyLikes Fresh ingredients and microbrews

Terrible frozen food! Totally don't mind being clawed a food snob on this one. Nothing "IItalian" about those fries (I know because I was in Italy 2 weeks ago). They were undercooked, soggy and clearly from your grocers freezer (not even Costco). I wouldn't recommend the nachos either. My sandwich didn't have the mushrooms that I requested but I was expecting that disappointment. I saw another patron's pizza and that looked bad also.

I'm a fan of the Lost Dog Cafe in Arlington so naturally, I thought I would be excited to see it in Alexandria. At last, I thought as I drove down N. Henry St., it's here. Well, you can't say you don't have choices at Lost Dog. It's almost overwhelming, all the menu options. We started with an appetizer "dog collars" or onion rings with sauce. All good but not outstanding. Then, I opted for a grilled chicken salad. Our server Jean-Luc, was somewhat hesitant to take our order, perhaps because he wasn't sure if we were ready. He meant well so I'll leave it at that. For some reason, the salad took a while to arrive. Salad? O.K., since there was grilled chicken in the salad, perhaps it took a while to prepare. I was surprised it took that long. The salad was also o.k. Kudos to the root beer, my favorite drink. I was thrilled that it was served in a frosty chilled glass which made it even better. Since it is a new location, it could be that they're just working out some glitches. Maybe with some time, this location will improve its service.

One of my favorite local eateries. I tried out their Columbia Pike location before the Alexandria location opened to see what their food was like, and my reaction was a solid meh, not bad but not great either. A good local deli. Since this location opened, I've been going at least 3-4 times a month. Their sandwiches are good but their pizzas are GREAT, superseding another local pizza operation as my #1 spot for local pizza (so good I actually eat all my crust). As mentioned by others, a wide variety of craft beers on tap. They've worked out most of their opening day "kinks" and service has improved immensely over that last few weeks although I can't speak for the take out/delivery side as I always dine in.

It was good.. everything seems super fresh. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious.. so many options for sandwiches and pizza and pasta. The grown up grill cheese was okay.. I asked for onions to put into it.. made it a little better. Service was good but during the waiters lunch so I didn't wanna bother for anything.

Great little place to have in the neighborhood. Checked it out for the first time last night. The friendly and awesome bartender Erica had some excellent beer recommendations and turned me on to what may be a new favorite for me, the Chateau Jiahu by Dogfish Head. Also, the Italian Fries were awesome.

Clean open space. Nice chilled beer and the sandwich was good and satisfied. Not a fan of the onion rings, not saying they are not good but I prefer my onion rings fried not char grilled. Am curious what percentage of sales or profits go to help dogs and cats, does anyone know ?

The good: our service was kind, friendly, and attentive. The beer was tasty and there is a good range on draft. The meh: our sandwiches tasted like subway or Quiznos--heaps of bland deli meat covered in bland cheese and heated up. Not how I remember the original Lost Dog. I love dogs and beer, but I am not hurrying back.

Food is average and overpriced. Bartender was aloof, not making you feel welcome. Go just to check out the beers they have.

I think I have found my go-to sandwich place and I could not be more excited! Stopped here on St. Patrick's Day, with our only goal being to drink a delicious beer and eat anything with corned beef. It was a very successful dinner! Our server (Jeff or Josh...) was wonderful, attentive, and funny. He made us feel very welcomed and was quick with beer and appetizer suggestions. I had a traditional ruben. Which was perfect. I do not like a lot of sauerkraut on Rubens, just enough to have the flavor. Their Ruben had the perfect ratio of corned beef to sauerkraut for me. It was delicious! I will definitely be returning to have another one soon! My husband had the #12, which he decided was his new favorite sandwich after only one bite. I love the draught craft beer list, especially how diverse it is with beer from across the country. The only downside was the prices, which seemed a bit high. However, I love sandwiches and beer, so I will be back very soon!

This place is right across my apartment. I literally take 10 steps and I'm in the restaurant. Thus, I foresee myself eating here often. However, I do want to say that I will probably be eating here more due to the sort walking convince rather than their food. I started my meal off with a bowl of the tomato bisque. I don't recommend this soup. I then ordered the turkey Ruben. when I think of a Ruben sandwich I think of a soft rye bread crisped to perfection. I picture some cabbage wilted to sweet and buttery sauerkraut. I also picture warm crisp meat. The turkey Ruben is more of a turkey sandwich than a Ruben sandwich. I was kind of disappointed. I also ordered a side of fries. They were the best part of my meal.

My sister and I only ate here because it was right by her place and we were starving. The food was bland and it had no flavor. I got a spinach pita sandwich. It had olives, cheese, and tomatoes in it. It listed all my favorite things, but it tasted mehhh... The more I ate it and the fuller I got, the more I realized that the food got more and more tasteless. I also ordered a side of fries... Which I thought was the best part of the meal. My sister and I were freezing, so we ordered a tomato bisque to share and we regretted it. I would describe everything on their menu ad bland.

It was ok. Had their pita sandwich which was tasty because of the sauce, but really it is just a simple sandwich. This is probably a nice place to go to if you don't want to cook. But really the food here seems very basic, nothing fancy.

I ordered carry out so I didn't check my order before I left. It wasn't correct but it still tasted delicious. Also, portion sizes are generous for the price. I ordered a sandwich and Italian fries and could only finish half of each. Therefore, the price was essentially for 2 meals. I'll return when I'm in need of another crafty sandwich.

After hearing that a Lost Dog Cafe location was opening up in Old Town, I was excited to give it a try. I phoned in my order for takeout late on a Saturday afternoon. It was ready for me when I arrived about 15 minutes later and I was able to pick it up with no problems. I ordered the Shelter Dog Pie. The vegetables were nice and fresh and the cheese was chewy. I wasn't too impressed by the crust though - it was slightly soggy and was falling apart as I ate it. Pizza was pretty good. Not entirely sure if it was worth the price though - at Lost Dog you're paying a bit more than other places in the area. I wasn't terribly impressed by the pizza, but given that they just opened recently, it was decent enough that I'd be willing to give it (or one of their sandwiches) another try.

We've been to the original Falls Church/Arlington location several times and were THRILLED when we heard it was coming here. We walk by here everyday going to work - danger! They have a pretty good beer list - not as good as the other location but very decent the menu is Huge! You have to be very attentive to read through all the different options. Our first pizza was the "catachurro?" - chicken, garlic, and some other things.. Tasty! The pizza we had tonight though was fantastic - build-your-own bacon sausage and mushrooms. The bacon was the best either of us have had on a pizza - actually delicious thickish juicy bacon, none of that crumbly crap you see at many places. Excellent! I will be getting bacon on my pizzas here from now on. There is a large selection of sandwiches as well (is this a combo of lost dog and stray cat?) salads and pastas, and OH! Onion rings aka "dog collars" - they are crispy and scrumptious, my second favorite in Alexandria next to Bugsy's. It is opening week and there were some kinks - some confused orders, out of some beers. No happy hour discounts yet. But these will be worked out as they establish themselves. Overall, I am excited for this addition to Old Town. The area around here was dead before, I hope this helps liven everything up! If you love bacon, get it on your pizza here!

Having ordered from this Lost Dog Cafe location nearly a dozen times I am completely fed up. After waiting nearly 1.5 hours for my food to get to me after it went to the wrong address, I find out there is no bacon on the 'Signature' Fat Willis salad. Bread on the sandwich was completely soggy and the driver did not apologize for the wait, say 'enjoy your meal' or give me so much as a smile when dropping off the food This in addition to a delivery driver telling me that on future trips they would prefer I come down to the lobby to meet them, (this is on one of the few times my mother placed an order from her apartment building). Seems the management of this Lost Dog location gives as little attention to customer service as they do to the creation of their food. Especially disappointing as the Columbia Pike location was a favorite when I worked in the area, everyone there was especially nice and the food was always perfect. Oh well, with all the other dining options in the area I guess I'll just vote with my wallet.

My new fave place in Alexandria! Dog friendly patio which is a big plus in my book and they have delicious milkshakes to die for! I am also pleased with the great service we encountered. An added bonus is their great selection of beers and a brewery list that changes weekly.

Horrible. Placed an order for a cheese pizza and baked ziti at 6:07 on GrubHub for $46...said to expect 7:20 delivery. I'm 3 blocks away. Ok, fine. Text updated delivery to 7pm. nothing by 7:15. Called them where they apologized and said the order was listed as a pickup but that they would have it out in 30 minutes. Really? Got the order 15 minutes later and it was clear that it was the original order that had been sitting around for about 45 minutes. The pizza box was soaked in grease, the cheese hardened, the crust soggy. The real kicker is the pizza was horrible and the Ziti no better. I've been eating pizza for 50 years, I know what it's supposed to taste like, this isn't it. I don't give a flying fish egg if they donate money to animal stuff, or they're new. What I care about is getting food that tastes good and is reasonably priced. This placed failed on both counts.

Hands down, the best pizza joint in the area! Matt the manager provided excellent customer service and if you order anything here with chicken (sandwich, salad) you will be extremely happy. David is also an excellent bartender.

I've been a fan of Lost Dog Cafe for over a decade and loved going to the one in S. Arlington for years now. So when I found out that a new one was opening in Alexandria slightly closer to where I live, I was pretty excited. That, unfortunately, didn't last long. I went there today with my gf. Started with a rootbeer float which was solid, but not spectacular and shared a Lost Dog dip. The chili tasted like something you make with one of those store bought packets and the shredded lettuce looked ok but tasted off. The gf ordered a Coyote - one of her mainstays - and I ordered a National. The toppings were on point, but the bread was bland and dry. I'm pretty sure they used par baked frozen rolls that were toasted before we ordered and sat around for awhile. The roof of my mouth was so raw from biting into it that I could only finish a little over half of my sandwich. The service was friendly and on point, but the food is not up to the standards that I expect from Lost Dog. I'll probably give them another shot, but it seemed to me like the issues were as much about product sourcing as execution.

Warning: Trip/fall hazard coming in the Henry Street door. Your attention is diverted to the hostess across the room and it's very easy to miss the step-down. There's no warning and it is not well marked. My back is still sore from catching myself. Because they have now been warned about this trip/fall hazard, the next person to fall has a great lawsuit. Seriously. As for the food, it's fine. They have a lot of beer. Good thing the inebriated will be exiting and not entering. I guess they can only hope.

Went here with my roommate late night for a bite to eat. Long Story short- probably won't be back for a very long while. We came in with a little more than an hour before closing and saw the host/server on his phone when we walked in- it is hard not to be seen being on your cell when the entire restaurant is floor to ceiling glass. As we walked in we saw a waitress make a comment about how late we were coming in, which started the night off on a great foot. Our server was David...and he was just meh. I know they just opened, so hopefully they will be training their servers better. The menu is huge and is named after dogs and other cutsie names, meaning if you are there for the first time, like we were, you really have to read the menu to see what you are getting. He came over about three to four times asking if we were ready and we requested more time. When we said we were ready, he let out a Finally. Wow dude, way to go all out on your service and make us feel welcome. We ordered an app and two entrees except that all of the food came out together, which would have been find had our app of dog collars not been half burnt. Like black burnt. We would have brought this to our servers attention, but they were all around doing their side work and doing other things so we just sucked it up. He came by once and strangely only filled one of our glasses leaving the other empty until we caught his eye again (It was a near empty glass as well). Finally, when out bill came we were charged for an pizza we never ordered. This is and was an easy fix, but it just ended an overall terrible dining experience. If anyone had taken some time to address these issues, they could have salvaged our dining experience and we would be more than willing to give it another shot. As it stand now, we wont be walking down the steps from our apartment to become regulars at Lost Dog, and won't be back until we hear better things.

We've visited the Arlington Lost Dog location, and enjoyed the charming atmosphere and creative pizzas. When we saw that a location had opened in Alexandria, we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, the pizza here was a disappointment. We ordered a large pizza with lots of veggie toppings. When it came out, I thought at first that they had forgotten the mushrooms and tomatoes. Then I realized they were there - but only about three little pieces of each! Biting into the pie, it was flavorless, oily, and lukewarm. Inedible? No. But certainly unenjoyable, and not at all what we'd expected. Unlike some of the other reviewers, we had a great service experience. But the food was so bland, I don't think we'll be back. On the plus side, the restaurant has a great selection of craft beers available to go. It's worth taking a look, as they have some unusual varieties. Be prepared to wait a while to check out, though: the harried clerks at the counter are busy juggling take-out orders, and it can take them a while to get to customers waiting to make purchases.

Pizza crust was probably one of the best I've ever had- so doughy and delicious...to the point that the pizza toppings couldn't measure up. We got two pizzas for a double date- one large and one small and the amount was perfect.

I would give this place no stars if I could. After being told the wait would be about 30 minutes we waited over an hour...and we had to go up a few times before finally being seated. The food selections are pretty mediocre. Basically, pizza or sandwiches. Which would be okay -- if they weren't all so bad (greasy, cold, stale). But even worse -- when I brought this to the attention of the staff they couldn't care less. All restaurants can have a bad night -- but these folks went out of their way to provide a bad experience. The worst part of this is -- the main reason we selected this place was my kids liked the name and theme. We've even gone to the Arlington location before. We had been excited about the old town location -- not any more. I knew the food was not great when we went there -- but their inability to 1) seat a family in a timely manner; 2) deal with a cold order; and 3) be pleasant to customers -- will forever knock this from our list. Will not be back.

The food is great. I've now tried multiple things on the menu-- all very good so far. However, they are very disorganized. This may just be issues with opening and the staff not being ready, but there have been problems with staff having no clue about menu, or delivering food without knowing the apartment number or phone number of ours and only having my wife's first name (despite it being given- luckily desk clerk knew it). That stuff should improve which is good cause the food is great.

Darn I was so excited about the new restaurant downstairs but quickly became pretty unimpressed. First the restaurant stored their bread in the stair well for the first two weeks until they were told to move it. When I visited, there were a zillion staff in the store, two tables with customers and they just forgot about me. So I walked over to the to-go counter and ordered something to take home. How sad is that? The staff seemed like the were ambivalent and maybe forgot they work in the service industry. They are like blobs walking around. And my sandwich, was...just okay. I'm really bummed but may give them a second chance.

We ordered Lost Dog through Grub Hub tonight and although the delivery took forever (an hour!) the food was worth it. We got the White Pizza #1 with a side of pasta salad, fries and a Root Beer Float. (And tomorrow we will be having a heart attack..) That said, the pasta salad was so good I half considered calling and asking for the recipe. The white pizza had garlic butter on it that was super yummy! Even the root beer float was perfect, the ice cream had little flecks of vanilla bean in it. If the order had arrived a little earlier it would have been perfect bc the pizza arrived a little cold. Next time we will go there to eat. Regardless, I am happy with our order!!!

First time in years but I recalled my last experience in Arlington as very good. Not this time. Service was good as we went during lunch. Atmosphere is open and bright. We had the chicken bacon salad and waffle fries. The fries were decent. The salad was a big disappointment. It was a large portion but no matter when it's bad. The chicken was shaved and thin which I prefer over chunks but very greasy. Then the bacon was in whole strips which were rubbery and also greasy. Next the salad greens were wet. So basically some greasy meat on top of a watery salad. Not a great combination. I told our server about it and nothing was done to remedy besides a statement " I told the manager" . So clearly there is no care to please the customer. The sandwiches looked good and I am told that the pizza is quite good. So maybe the salad is not their strong suit.

Stopped in for lunch today...positive experience. Large menu, the food was tasty, and the service was cordial and attentive (though not friendly). The restaurant was very busy, yet still felt clean and comfortable. My only real beef is with pricing of the kids menu. On the surface $5.95 seems perfectly reasonable for a kid's meal, until you realize everything is à La Carte. $5.95 covers only the main dish (ie grilled cheese or small plate of pasta). Want fries? Add $2.95. Want potato salad? Add $1.95. Want a small cup of juice? Add $2.95. ...you get the picture. In the end, we ordered a grilled cheese and lemonade (a small plastic kid sized cup) for our daughter's lunch. Though she enjoyed it, the price added up to about $9...squarely into the realm of ridiculous for what she got. I don't mind paying a lot for kids' food, but I expect to get my money's worth. That's not what I got in this case. Rather, the kid's menu is clearly an area where the restaurant sees an opportunity to increase the profit margin. On the other hand, my wife's and my lunches were very reasonably priced, and very tasty. In the end, this was still a very positive experience for us...we'd definitely recommend the restaurant to others. No doubt we'll be back, though we'll probably feed our daughter elsewhere.

LOVE this place. Everything on their menu is superb. Love the spinach melt and grown up grilled cheese and their pizza. I mean, the pizza isn't as good as Faccia Luna pizza, in my opinion, but it's still pretty decent pie. They have good salads as well, and a great beer selection. I love the atmosphere ... chill place to grab some food and catch up with friends. We live in the neighborhood and I've been at least once a week since they've opened. I usually see Pam there, working away. I love how dedicated the owners are. The menu is pretty big, so there is something for everyone, but I'd love to see this place serve brunch. Aside from Sugar Shack, there are not too many brunch options in the Parker Gray area. I also really appreciate Lost Dog's philanthropy and their dedication to animal rescue. Seriously love this place.

I've been here 3 times now since they've opened (a little obsessed) and finally taking the time to write a review. Every single time, the food was great and the service was amazing. We've gone with our two year old twins each time (thankfully they behaved) and the staff was so gracious with them - getting their meals out ASAP and quickly getting us the check and to-go boxes when the time came to make our exit. Their great beer selection and bar has me looking forward to the time we can visit without the kids.

Like others have said, the service needs A LOT of work. As in, if I order fries, and you run out of them and therefore I never receive them, don't charge me for them and then act confused when we ask you to remove the charge. That said, this place has been open for less than a month and obviously is still working out some of the kinks. I'm sure I'll be back and will hopefully be able to update this review saying the service has improved. Food was great, the menu is a bit overwhelming but I knew that from dining at the Arlington location. The sandwich portions are enormous so definitely be prepared for that! Hoping the service improves so that this can become one of my go to places in the neighborhood.

Well, let's see... Had to ask twice for anything, including water and napkins. Table of five - she brought us two sets of silverware (only after asking twice). The food wasn't that great, and we got our fries after everyone had finished the meal (and no offer of either extra fries or to comp them). Then rang stuff up wrong after that. Zero offers of helping or to fix anything wrong. WON'T EVER GO BACK!!!

The only reason they are getting a 1 star is because I had to select a star. After the last few visits to the new alexandria location I'm truly just disgusted. I thought maybe in the beginning since they were new that they needed some time to get use to the large menu but it seems they just get worse every week that goes by. I fell in love with lost dog and would go out to the Arlington location for their awesome sandwiches and was super excited about a location opening right down the street. Sadly I must say yuck!!!! How can you screw up a Reuben?? One of the most simple sandwiches on their menu. This was my final straw, after screwing up so many of the more difficult sandwiches I went to the most simple and it was barely eatable. My suggestion is that they send their sandwich makers over to Arlington for training and possibly teach them how to use a knife. Over and over I ask them to please cut the subs in half and it never happens. I'm so over this location that I will go back to driving out to Arlington if I decide to continue eating lost dog.

Overall, very average. I was running around Old Town Alexandria with my boyfriend, and we decided to head to Lost Dog for a quick bite. I've heard Lost Dog before from friends and strangers who frequented the Arlington and Dunn Loring locations, but this was the first time I ever stepped foot in a Lost Dog Café. Their menu is overwhelming. Pizza, pasta, sandwiches, salads, soups, it goes on and on. And the beer list is even more extensive. I opted for the Avo-Dogo salad, which consisted of their homemade chicken or tuna salad (I chose chicken), mixed with your usual salad greens, tomatoes, onions, and sliced avocado. The salad comes with balsamic vinaigrette. For $10.95, this is a very average salad. Salads at restaurants are typically overpriced, but I felt like I was eating a salad I could whip up myself. The lettuce looked like it came straight out of a bag from a typical supermarket, the onions weren't even completed sliced for me (looked like a banana, all the onion slices were connected at the top), and even the chicken salad was just alright. It was a fine salad but it's nothing to write home about. My boyfriend thought his pizza was average too. Our server was very nice though. Accommodated our requests politely and was a sweetheart about everything. I wouldn't mind coming back for a quick bite, but I wouldn't go out of my way. I do respect that they donate some of their profits to rescue animals.

I meh about says it all with this place. I must say up front that my experience was ruined by one of the worst servers I've had in years. She was absolutely clueless. My girlfriend asked her about vegetarian options and she made suggestion that as it turns out prominently features meat. That kind of set the tone for our whole experience. First I really don't think this place knows what it wants to be. Is it a take out place? Is it a delivery place? Is it a dine in place? Who knows, certainly not the staff. They've crammed too many tables in for it to be comfortable. Combined with the slow and error plagued service it's not a place worth returning to. Sometimes in these situations the payoff is a good product. Why else would they be busy? Sadly no. The pizza wasn't good. It was OK, certainly not awful but a damn sight short of acceptable. Adding in the price point only makes the situation more depressing. Maybe they'll be better in a while but I probably won't be back to see. 2/5.

What a lovely little gem in Old Town. Lost Dog Cafe is awesome! With a business motto that strikes you from the start, you will fall in love with this local establishment in no time. Though the menu is overwhelming, they make puns that will keep you laughing as you are reading. Also, the "favorites" are easy to locate on the menu. If you are still having trouble narrowing down what to get; ask your server! They are so accommodating and they will tell you what to add or substitute to make your meal that much better! Plus they partner with lostdogrescue.org , so really, how bad could they bet?

Every time that I drive by this place I see that it always has a lot of people, thus I decided to go check it out. Once inside I saw that this is more of a sports bar than a cafe. I ordered a Glide Hefeweizen that was on tap (it was pretty good). I then proceeded to order some Italian Fries; when they arrived I immediately noticed that some were soggy and some were burnt, and the taste was just bland (I couldn't even taste the Italian spices). I ordered the Bureaucrat sandwich (roasted turkey cheese and bacon) and it was mostly good, however the bacon came out pretty burnt. Will I come back to this place? I don't know, maybe to try out the rest of the beer that they have, and I'll probably just order a different appetizer and/or a pizza next time.

NEW ADDITION of LOST DOG CAFE - For those that don't know, LOST DOG has been a Staple in Arlington (multiple locations) for years and years and years... but it is not just the food (pizza and sandwiches) it is the knowledge base in the CRAFT BEER industry that has kept the folks coming back. Not only can people buy rare bottles in the store but LOST DOG will deliver to your house! With all of that said, let's get to the BRAND SPANKIN' NEW location in Alexandria: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION: In this Yelper's opinion, this is an interesting location b/c it is not on King Street where everything else is located but I LIKE IT! It is where the new apt's are and an easy walk for the neighborhood. It has that vibe of a great neighborhood place that a yelper can just pop on down, grab a beer and a sandwich, watch the game, and then pop back up to the apt. THIS IS EXACTLY what Lost Dog is all about--A++ on location. FOOD: Generally speaking, Lost Dog is a little over priced on food but the pizza's are pretty damn good. Now that they are competing with Pizzeria Paradiso & Rustico which are also damn good AND both have great CRAFT BREW lists--then what separates the three are: location, service, price, and QUALITY OF FOOD. I have been to this location a few times now and the taste/quality of the food is just sub par. With a little bit of training, this can easily be fixed. Overall: D+ SERVICE: Again, as it has been noted, I have been to that Arlington location a time or two.. I might even be the Duke of it so I might know thing or two about the service at the other locations. In this Yelper's opinion, it appears that Lost Dog did a great job with painting the walls and getting the open space in Alexandria... But that is about it. it appears that LOST DOG opened the doors and hired random people off the street that: a. know nothing about Lost Dog; b. know nothing about CRAFT BEER; c. They DO know the neighborhood (which is a good thing). It is a real shame. I generally don't put random stories in reviews that only effect myself but this is funny: I recently went in and asked about a craft beer. I asked if Lost Dog served beer in flights or only in pint glasses. The waiter was very confused, walked away, and came back with a glass stating, "we serve in this size cup" (pointing to the standard pint glass). Clearly the waiter was not knowledgeable in even what a pint glass in let alone what a flight of beer is. Overall: D PRICE: Lost Dog has always been a bit pricey but they have also been in locations where they have had no competition. Now they do so why should I come here especially when the service is bad and spend my $$$ and not somewhere else? Overall: B- CRAFT BEER: Finally, the good stuff! The craft beer list here is the exact same as the other locations which is GREAT! The 'Beer To Go' area does appear to be smaller than the Arlington locations but that is not a huge issue for this yelper. Overall: A! The Good: Craft Beer List is still here! Also, the location is great and the layout of the restaurant is pretty awesome. It's very open! The Bad: The prices are a bit high for the service with other competitors near by that provide better bang for the buck. The UGLY: The complete lack of training for the staff is very very sad for Lost Dog overall. This Yelper is a BIG FAN of Lost Dog but NOT of the Alexandria location.

With SO many sandwich options, I thought this place might have some specialty, i.e. homemade bread, house sauce, super high quality deli meats, something! It was pretty much your run-of-the mill sandwich shop. Nothing to write home about. One thing that was pretty cool was the artist painting the wall above the bar while I was there. So I guess there's that...

I have been here about 6 times and each time I have had a terrible experience. The waiters forget that you are there and when they show up 20 minutes later, they mess up your order. I would say that it is just the wait staff, but when they never came to my table one day, I walked around and just got a pizza instead. When i got home, the pizza was missing toppings from the ones listed on the menu. On top of all of this, their employees smoke outside on the sidewalk of my apartment. This is a clearly marked no smoking area and they leave milk crates, chairs, cigarette packs, and trash all of their chosen smoking area. They even smoke inside of the parking garage and leave their trash there as well. I recommend that you go somewhere else if you are looking for good food. This place is a dump!

Finally...a great place within walking distance from my casa. Thankful the space became Lost Dog instead of another Dominos (across the street from me sadly). Food: addicted already to the tomato soup and the croutons. Being a carb craver, they accommodated my request for more. Excellent servers/bartenders/hosts. Pizza: the litmus test for me. Great crust, freshest ingredients. ate my entire individual size; had good intentions to take 2 of the 4 pieces home. Just too good! already looking forward to springtime and the patio.

I have been to lost dog a few times now. The food is good and the menu is huge. They have an excellent beer selection and rotate local breweries. I sat at the bar and the pure fun and energetic bar staff makes it great. Jackie is tremendous and she takes the time to learn what type of beer you like. She has recommended really good beers to me and makes the experience wonderful. Overall great place but the bar tenders and awesome.

Finally, a new restaurant addition to the neighborhood (we live in Del Ray) that is a casual, down to earth, inexpensive, convenient restaurant with a bar that has a lot of good beers on tap! And, they also do take-out beer & food. Lost Dog, so happy you are here! So tired of the new restaurants in our neighborhood being so fancy & $30 a plate for dinner - expensive is nice for special occasions, but not everyday.

This branch just opened near my home so I ordered a pizza online and walked down to pick it up. The order goes through another company (stub hub?). Picked it up brought it home and it was completely screwed up -- toppings that were supposed to be on half on whole pizza and vice versa. Called. First they argued with us about what we ordered but we still had the window open. Then they explained the order doesn't come directly but has to be manually entered by someone in the store, which is how the error occurred. They offered a new pizza. Picked it up and it was correct. Replacement was the right thing to do but a sorry or apology at any point would have been welcome. Pizza was okay, not terrific. Probably will not return.

Great New Addition to Old Town Alexandria. In keeping with the Lost Dog line, the food is good, the prices are fair and there is a large selection of menu items. I sat at the bar on a busy Saturday night and enjoyed the restaurant, the food, and the ambiance. I had a pizza for dinner and it was very good, my only complaint is that their crusts are not very crispy. Parking can be a problem so plan accordingly. The bartender, Kelly was Excellent. I will be returning.

My only complaint is that it is too busy.... Food is excellent and beer choices are solid as well. I have had about six different sandwiches and a few different pizzas, and all were very good. An excellent addition to the neighborhood.

Great choices of beers, decent pizza and sandwiches. They sell six packs that you can pick up with your beer. Pretty standard, casual american dining. That about explains it:)

We have eaten here quite a few times since it opened, both take out and eat in. You would think they would have improved their service but no. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and write an awesome review but nothing has changed. EVERY time we order take out they do something wrong. They barely apologize as we wait an extra 10 minutes for our food to cook. Last time, he repeated the order right but didn't put in the system for my husband's dinner. Dining in is always correct, but the take out is miserable. Ask them to repeat your order 3 times and still be skeptical.

I will start by saying that I am a huge fan of Log Dog Cafe. I frequent the location in Merrifield and I my dog was actually adopted through their foundation. I LOVE their pizza (and beer). Having said this, I was very excited when I learned that they opened a branch near my work. I decided to order my usual pizza. As they do not have online ordering set up yet I called the restaurant to order delivery. Upon calling, I was not greeted but instead heard a very unenthusiastic "lost dog" from the other end. I told the employee that I wanted to order delivery. I was asked for my name, which I gave. Then I was told that I had to give more information to create an account. I asked the employee that since I had ordered many many times from other locations before and would I need to create another account, to which she replied no. Upon getting my phone number (which I had to repeat three times) she told me that I was not in their system. I asked her if she had enough to complete the order and she said yes. So I proceeded to give an explanation my order as simply as I could but was put on "hold" (I could actually hear the employees' conversations) at least 4 times. I was only ordering one create your own pizza. At the end of my order I asked how I could pay and during this part I was put on "hold" another 3 times. Finally I was told that my order would arrive in 15-20 minutes. I was very excited because that seemed like a very reasonable time for delivery and I figured that was feasible as I am also in Alexandria. I waited and waited and after about 30 minutes received a call from the delivery person, he asked me to repeat my address two times as he was having trouble locating through his GPS. At this point I was still excited about the possibly of getting my usually delicious pizza so I remained patient. Nearly 15 minutes later, I received another phone call from a different number and a new voice who asked me if I had ordered pizza. I was confused but answered yes and he stated that he was coming and the phone call ended abruptly. Nearly 40 minutes after ordering I called the location back and the same employee picked up. This time she did not say anything after picking up, even though I could hear background noise. I said hello a couple of times before she responded. I then asked her about the status of my order to which she replied "the delivery guy has already left" she apologized but did not really sound like she cared. When I told her that I had been waiting for a while, she offered to call the delivery person to see where he was. I agreed with her offer. Nearly 50 minutes after I had ordered the pizza, the pizza finally arrived. As I went to greet the delivery person, I noticed that he was talking to another man about pizza. It turned out that they had both been sent to come ( not sure if they both had pizza for me) thankfully they took care of this among themselves and the second man left after looking and sounding ticked off before I had to figure out paying for two pizzas or rejecting one. After I got a chance to open the box and see the pizza I quickly noticed that the pizza looked and tasted nothing like what I have tasted at Lost Dog before. The crust was flimsy and thin, there were not enough of the toppings I had ordered and without exaggeration this was one of the greasiest pizzas I had ever tasted. Needless to say, I am highly disappointed at Lost Dog for their lack of customer service, training and communication. As much as I love Lost Dog, I am not sure I will be ordering from this location again at least not for a while.

This place was awesome! I was in town visiting my daughter for the 4th, we came here. Great choice. I had the Turkey Reuben, love love love it. Plus big enough to bring home half and have it again Now all they need is sweet potato fries and I'm in heaven .

So we live literally right next to Lost Dog. We were so so excited when we saw it was coming into our neighborhood. We went a lot when it first opened for dine-in. The service was not what we would have hoped for, but we understood that it was brand new and things were a little crazy at first. Now that it has calmed down a little the service is BETTER, not amazing. The food was good. The menu is HUGE, so you will definitely find something. Both healthy and comfort food are on the menu so we like that option. We have never had a sandwich we don't like, same with the pizza. The sides, appetizers and pastas still need some work. They usually come over done, or seem like they have been sitting under a warmer for a little too long. Nothing life ending or inedible, but just not up to par like some other items on the menu. We love getting take out now (don't have to deal with the inconsistent service). Also we love popping in to see what their take-out beer area has to offer. We can always find an awesome craft brew here. That may be the best part of Lost Dog, the quick and easy take-out beer along with your take-out dinner. We will continue to eat here and hopefully I will come back soon with an even better review.

Very good sandwiches. Huge sandwich selection! We had takeout because the bar/dining area was full with an hour wait. We waited about 15 minutes for takeout. My daughter has a gluten allergy and they offer gluten free breads which are legit and very good. Our sandwiches were tasty too. All three of us were satisfied and the price was in line for the quality, size and geographical location. Will go again. They have non sandwich selections too...

Nice environment and tons of choices on sandwiches and pizza. However, my sandwich missed a sauce. Italian fries were too soft. Corn and ham soup balance wasn't there.

Good food and great atmosphere. Came here not knowing anyone but everyone was extremely friendly. If Eric is tending bar ask him anything about thier great beer selection. He is super knowledgeable and knows hi ipas. Also hemade a great recommendation and I had the tomato soup with a grown up grilled cheese. I am not ashamed to say I licked the bowl. This will be a frequent spot for me because of the way they make you feel at home. Keep up the good work guys!

Tempting!

Good sandwiches. Average tomato Bisque. Excellent delivery time and pretty decent prices. My wife and I will definitely be ordering from here again. Staff was pleasant and sold the sandwiches well. The in store experience was very cool with the craft beers and local tastes. I recommend.

Cool cafe with lots of beer selection. Just went for beer, not food. Staff were nice and helpful. Location was great to walk around.

  • Kara R.

In my opinion the best, friendliest, and most light filled of the lost dog restaurants. The food was spectacular, the service was excellent, and I will definately be coming back. Also, in case you haven't tried them, get the dog collars as a side!

Finally, a friendly neighborhood restaurant at Braddock Metro! The food is good and the prices are a little less than the Alexandria norm. The menu is huge, with something for everyone, and the vibe is casual and comfortable.

I work close by and went for a quick lunch. I'm a fan in the sense that that food was delicious and the atmosphere is very nice. The only down side is the time it took to receive our food. You would think a couple of individual size pizzas only took a good ten minutes? Our food didn't come out for at least 30 minutes!! Good thing I have an hour for lunch! If they can improve that service time they will get 5 stars...

I gave this place three chances since it is close in my neighborhood. I was exceptionally disappointed every time. The food tastes like industrial mass produced cafeteria food that has been sitting out all day. The servers are arrogant and the service in general is slow.

Clean, family friendly, and nice staff. Great menu too, can't wait to try some of the beers on tap! The grownup grilled cheese, Italian fries, and Clemson Tiger Tea was definitely a great start and will bring me back for more!! @lostdogcafeAlex

Great pizza, tons of beers on tap, and they support dogs and cats. What's not to like? I I just moved to this area and am so glad to have this wonderful neighborhood spot in walking distance. Truthfully, the starters so far have been nothing to write home about, but everything else I've ordered has been great.

I live in the neighborhood. I have been maybe five times - at all times of the day. I have gotten take out a couple times. The food has been great - from pizza to sandwiches. My favorite take out is their lasagna. It's a really big portion in a tin. It makes 3 good sized servings out the fridge the next couple days. The service has never been bad and continues to get better. The place got slammed from day one and they are all still getting their feet under them - and doing a good job of it. It's a fabulous addition to this area!

We are locals and are so glad that Lost Dog Cafe is here! We were there on opening night, and yes the service was a little bumpy. But gee whiz, give folks a break! Staff is great and the food is good. One note to the bartending staff, be sure to keep an eye on your customers as often as possible. No one should have to try to catch your eye when they need something.

We had the best pizza and salad for lunch! Whole grain pizza dough was delicious, and the toppings were fresh. Basil topped it off beautifully. Similarly the salad was crisp and interesting. Extensive menu made it challenging to select, but you can't go wrong. Great service and really friendly staff. The decor is bright, and original artwork is a nod to the location's origins as a bottle manufacturing plant. Lots to see here, and easy parking.

Happy to have this chain in Old Town. Also was hoping it would be a good spot to take the kiddo. It is family friendly and the server was great and attentive but the prices for a kids meal is insane. My little one just wanted a hot dog and man was that an expensive meal. He got just that-a hotdog on a bun- nothing else for $6 and then his drink(milk) for $2. The majority of restaurants include the drink or at least give a side. This was just disappointing. What made up for it was the sandwiches. I had the Cowboy sandwich and it was really good, the bun was just right with all the fixings. Enjoyed my side of homemade macaroni salad too. Hubby got the new National sandwich and he loved it. It was huge and loaded which makes no different in price. My sandwich wasn't nearly as loaded which I didn't have a problem with but the price was the exact same. So for a family of 3, which includes a 2.5 year old, for 1 hot dog, 2 sandwiches, side of chips, Mac salad and 1 beer and 1 root beer drink- $50 bucks! That doesn't seem like much of a deal for a sandwich and pizza shop. Please rethink the kid items and add a side and/ or drink to the cost at the very least.

We love the food, but I'm so so so disappointed to see this location is plagued with the same issue as the Columbia Pike outpost - terrible service. Normally, I would be willing to give them a break because I know they just opened, but I'm pretty skeptical that tey'll improve because they have the same terrible service issues at the other location on CP. Argh! I just don;t understand why they can;t get it together. They have tons of people working there, just standing around and not doing anything and not seeming to care. Visited on a Saturday for lunch just before noon and got the last open table. We'd asked for a high chair and one was brought to us. It was filthy, but the host just set it down. I don't know how he could have missed it. SO I myself went over to where the other high chairs were stacked- they were ALL filthy. This place opened pretty recently, and it looked like the highchairs haven;t been wiped off since. Ugh. Wiped it down myself with our wipes. Then we ordered drinks from our waitress, a young woman with long blond hair. She first brought my husband's iced tea, which was filled to the brim and dripping all over. It dripped on the table, the seat and on me. She put it down and immediately took off (I'm sure it dripped on her too and she wanted to wipe off!) and I called after her for a napkin - but she was gone. A nice kid with tatoos and a lip piercing who seemed to be working at the bar saw our situation and nicely brought over a few napkins. Waitress then returned with the other drink- a beer this time. EXACT SAME ISSUE. It was dripping all over, the table, me and the seat - and this time she set it down in front of my two year old! A flled-to-the-brim beer. Seriously? Because if your kid is going to grab for a drink and spill it, you totally want it to be beer so your kid, you and your car all smell like beer, right? I grabbed it away in time before my child lurched for it, and literally - no pun intended- had to sip it like a Dog, it was so full. This time we had left over napkins, but not spilling all over the guests seems to be a pretty basic principle of decent customer service that has been missed here. Waitress delivered our food and didn;t check back with us during the entire meal. Here's the kicker- the food is actually good, and we really enjoy it. I will also note that a long wait had developed while we ate, and the staff didn;t seem to be handling it well. Lots of folks appeared to be complaining that they'd been waiting past the time they'd been told. Finally, I just have to note that our waitress - who seemed nice enough but was totally clueless- had really long hair down to her elbows- and it wasn't pulled back .I'm not sure if that's required or not, but it was sort of unappetizing because her hair was unkempt and she kept touching it, which didn;t seem appropriate. I have to think that some of it ended up in someone's food eventually. Even if law doesn't require it, it just seems neater and more hygenic to have it pulled back. Noticed that though our waitress was flaky but nice, some other staff seemed to have a bad attitude- observed some of the staff snipping at each other and eye rolling. Not sure if I can bring myself to come back here. Food is good, but they appear to have hired the same kinds of people (either flaky or lazy or bad attitude) and "trained" them the same way - or not at all. Sigh.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
