How this place manages to stay open I don't know. Had the fish tacos that only had two small pieces of fish and a lot of cabbage with sauce that was mediocre at best. Don't go to mexican restaurants in Utah. Your best bet is the taco carts around town. Giving it two stars instead of one cause the drinks were cold.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I'm glad I did. I had the beef taco platter and it was great. I did find it interesting that we were charged $1 for the chips and salsa that they brought to us as we were being seated, but the salsa was so good i wld have paid double for it.

I have to give this place 5 stars for their seafood plates. Not their carne asada or other typical mexican plates but for their seafood! Place is a little over priced for the ambience and location but the food is very good.

The fish tacos were great. The green saucers comes with is nicely spicy, not too bold. The Gobernador taco was also fantastic.. Real buttery. Will definitely be back for fish tacos.

This place is SO good!! You will not be disappointed, I got the chicken tacos and they were so fresh. True authentic Mexican food. There is a lot of sea food incorporated with their food so it did smell like that throughout the restaurant.

Stopped in here for lunch after landing at SLC to see family. Hubby got the fish taco plate and I got the mixed seafood kebabs. Hubby exclaimed "These are the best fish tacos I've ever had!". My seafood (scallops, shrimp, and fish) were well cooked in the sense that they weren't overdone and the fish was incredibly moist. I was a little disappointed that they had clearly been brushed with butter at the end and were very oily and I had tried to get something "healthy" by opting for something grilled. Still, everything was tasty and service was friendly and helpful. Would go back here if in the area and craving seafood.

The Reatraunt didn't look so hot but the food was amazing!! The crab enchilada was great and the fish tacos were delish. The retried beans had a great taste like never before!!

Delicious fish tacos and salsa and chips. Good service, too. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the beans and rice were a little bland. I will be coming back to try more dishes!

Carne asada tacos were good, really pricey for what you get though. Clean and fast service. Probably won't be back due to the price.

So I want to give this place 4 stars because the food is 5 star worthy. However.. The experience was a tad uncomfortable. I do not speak Spanish. There was a time in my life when I considered learning, and I somewhat regretted it walking into this place. We walked in and could feel all these eyes on us immediately giving us the ole "up and down". We picked the least threatening look table to sit at and waited. The server spoke perfect un-accented english but didn't seem happy to do so. My husband had a chicken burrito and I had a seafood chimichanga which I must saying was FABULOUS. What brought this from a 5 star to a 3 star was that I wouldn't feel comfortable returning..... So sad.

Had the combo enchiladas. Very delicious food. Service was friendly until I received my food, then it was non-existent. Had to ask twice for a drink refill after it sat empty for far longer than acceptable. When I ordered my meal I informed my server I would most likely be ordering a dessert. After getting and eating my meal I sat with an empty plate and was ignored for over 15 minutes. Server walked past me many times stopping at all the other tables multiple times but ignored me. Curse of being a single diner? I dunno, it happens so often. Curse of being a pale white gringo? I hope not. Regardless, being ignored for so long after informing my server I would be adding a dessert to my order gives me reason to not come back. I wanted to give you more of my money but you refused to take it.

This small little Mexican restaurant is truly a wonderful stop for authentic awesome food. Menu is in Spanish and English but I saw mostly Hispanic people in there which is too bad because you can't pass up food this good. The salmon Diablo was incredibly delicious and I have not ever had it this way. We also had great fresh Oysters on the half shell and butterfly shrimp. The tomato based soup had a nice zing to it also. Beer only. Great mariachi band plays there also but I am not sure of their schedule. They were playing when we arrived. Miss this and it's your loss.

Good food, ordered the "marisco molchajetes" and shared it. Plenty for two. Staffing was polite and very on top on things.

Great Mexican Coastal cuisine! Fish tacos, oysters and ceviche tostadas.

The carne asada tacos were flavorful and a good size. Husband got a seafood combo of some sort and really enjoyed it. The dining room was large and the restrooms were clean. (changing table in the ladies! yay!) The only slight negative was that we were not offered refills on our drinks, but she quite happily complied when we asked. We will certainly be back!

Everyone in there today was Hispanic. Delicious food. I had the (seafood) combo enchilada; it was yummy. They serve fish soup with your meal. My wife even like the soup even though she's not a seafood fan. She ordered the asada enchilada, and said it tasted great and she had never had anything like it.

This is Americanized. It's good food, but not excellent, especially if you know authentic. I would eat here again if I wanted to bring friends from the states.

SO GOOD, great little spot, good for families. If you are looking for a more Mexican experience this place is the best, you don't get great Mexican sea food better than this place. Harder if you don't speak Spanish, but don't be shy with friendly staff, your sure to get something good. This is my third time coming here and I will be back for more. They sometimes have people singing inside I could take that or leave it.

I'm always a bit nervous about trying new ethnic places because I only speak English and at some places where English doesn't seem to be spoken much I simply don't feel welcome so even if the food is good, I usually won't be back. This place isn't like that. Our server was gracious and she didn't seem put out that I didn't speak Spanish. I noticed she treated everyone with a friendly demeanor and she was really helpful. That definitely adds a star in my book. Now on to the food. It was very, very good. I had a seafood enchilada. It had tender sweet bay scallops, crab, and shrimp. I really enjoyed it, but it seemed a bit on the sweet side. I had the green sauce on it and that might of added to the sweetness. My partner had a crab and shrimp enchilada with red sauce. His was also very good. The complimentary chips and salsa were great. The sauce had a nice kick. The most memorable thing (besides service) was my mango juice. I expected a small glass, but I was surprised by this massive goblet of mango juice. This thing was huge! Four people could've had very healthy servings from that goblet. I had it all to myself and somehow I finished it because it was delicious. Incidentally, I noticed the same goblet is what they serve ceviche in so if you like ceviche you'll definitely get your money's worth. The people at the table next to ours were definitely happy with their ceviche. We were very satisfied and I'm pretty sure we'll be back soon.

Shrimp tacos and Veracruz style fish are fantastic. Nacho plate was wonderful. The music was a bit loud for our group, but our waitresses happily turned it down a bit. Great atmosphere, speed and quality Mexican seafood.

I've never posted before but I feel the need to comment that the service could not have been warmer or friendlier. It is excellent food ,authentic and I highly recommend it.

I found out about this place from a friend and it's now one of my favorite spots. This is a local place and the authenticity can be vouched for by the high percentage of hispanic patrons. The best dishes seem to be the over the top seafood options. Our party had a whole fish dish and another large variety dish which were all great. I ordered the Seven Seas dish. Its a soup/stew with clams, crab, muscles, squid and a few other things. It's huge, great tasting, fun to eat and inexpensive. They serve a variety of drink options, including my favorite bottled Sangria. The wait staff are very attentive, the service is quite quick and the parking situation is pretty good. It's not a large location, so I wouldn't take a party over six or so people, but for anything else, it's a great seafood trip.

We have had a terrible experience with the waitress both times we have been to this restaurant. Great food but the dining experience has completely ruined it for us. If anything, I would recommend take out...

A little nervous because it wasn't very busy the first time I went (noon on a weekday though) but this place is GREAT. $3.99 kids meal had beans, rice, quesadilla, and orange slices. Good chips and salsa. Amazing ceviche tostadas!! Great beans. Can't wait to go back. Been twice in the past few months. Update: Don't make a request for a song to the guys singing and playing the guitar on Saturdays during lunch. I handed them $5 when they finished and they insisted that I pay them $10 :( Also, side orders of beans are very small. Still love the pescado tostado!

We love this place. The camerone (shrimp) dishes are our favorites. My husband likes the garlic and I like the spicy zarantha (spelling?). We love Yesinia our waitress and she knows our regular order when we walk in. The consommé they serve before the meal is something we crave. Very friendly place and really good food. We love that it's in our backyard. ( well pretty close)

I grew up in Southern California, so finding a great Mexican spot has been crucial. I have found it!!! The BEST seafood combo enchiladas I have ever had. The food, the environment, everything is so authentic. I can not wait to try everything on the menu!

First time going to this resturant. They were very prompt in seating us, our waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about what ingredients were in the dishes. The rice and beans were cold, but they fixed that quickly, other than that, the food was delicious! A little more expensive than I was planning ($60 for two dishes and two beers), but overall it was great. Will be going there again.

I was actually on my way to a different restaurant on the day I stopped here. But when I arrived they were closing, so I said, "How about I try this Mariscos Ensanada?" And I'm SO glad that I did. Great portions, lots of choices, giant margaritas, fantastic food, and friendly servers. I have never had Mexican food this wonderful. I had the calamari steak, which was amazing. In fact, I couldn't finish it all and brought it home. The following day, I heated it up in the microwave and it was still amazing. My only issue was that the air conditioning was not functioning that day (if the building has a/c), and it was a really hot day, but still totally worth discovering a new favorite!

This place rocks! Baja style Mexican seafood. you can even get oysters here. They have a nice ceviche dish, the Seven Seas is wonderful and a killer shrimp cocktail. They also serve this wonderful little soup called consome that has a seafood base broth with chunks of squid and fish and rice. Check it out, you will not be dissapointed.

Best Mexican restaurant I ate at the whole time I was in Salt Lake City. The carne asada taco's were amazing and the tostada mixta (ceviche tostada) was delicious. Great atmosphere, family friendly, the look from the outside gives this place no justice.

Good food. A little on the pricey side, but worth it. Gonna try more of what they have. Fish, shrimp, or governor tacos are all good choices.

Although I've only eaten at Mariscos once, I give it 5 stars easy! I was blown away by how fresh and authentic the food tasted. The cheese enchilada had amazing sauces and I don't think I've ever had an enchilada like this as far as the layered texture, it was amazing. Also the chicken taco was pretty good. I took the order to go and thought for a small price they gave me a lot of food, chips and hot sauce/salsa included. I'm not sure what it was but they also gave me a side container of a type of guacamole sauce, it was good and spicy! The staff was very polite and apologized for the wait which really wasn't long. I don't think the predominantly white community realizes what a gem they have just outside their neighborhood's say this because I was the only white person there. I can't wait to go back!

Ate there last night for the first time. Party of 4, we split 2 parrilladas each supposed to serve 2. The parrillada is like a sampler platter of everything they have... Calamari steak, shrimp several different ways, seven seas soup, a couple of tacos. All pretty good, very flavorful. Way more food than we needed, but not the giant swimming platter you get in some places. They serve beer, not a given in SLC. Flan for dessert was also yummy. Service was friendly and attentive. Itinerant guitar minstrels were pretty terrible, but they did add to the authentic vibe. Would definitely go back. Only negatives: too brightly lit, a wee bit pricey. And the guitar guys.

I was wandering around the west side with the kids trying to come up with something to eat while being in that mood where I wasn't craving anything in particular. May be it was my ambivalence to eating and not being really all that hungry that I decided "hey i might as well try this place". I have driven by it a number of times and wondered how good could a seafood place be in Utah? I grew up near the ocean (and miss it dearly) and this place is now my favorite seafood place. We ordered the molcahete de camerones and dear lord above was it good. First they brought out some chips and salsa with get this... salsa with some heat and flavor... this aint no typical Utah white bread flavorless "mexican" food place it's legit. Next we ordered the molcahete and a fried tilapia kids meal. The friendly waitress brought out a seafood rice soup that I had never had before. It had a dried red pepper base like pasole or menudo but it tasted like the ocean becasue it had a stock obviously made from seafood, I could taste crab, shrimp and the broth had an awesome viscous consistency I absolutely loved it. My kids ate it up too and they don't do soup. The the came the molten volcano like molcahete. i had never had a molcahete before so I was excited to try it. The lava rock bowl was heated in an oven lined with foil and filled to the brim with shrimp, peppers (a number of varieties), onions, and Nopales (cactus). The molcahete was server with rice beans and a pile of corn tortillas. While serving up the gorgeous molcahete broth I inadvertently pierced the foil and created one of the coolest culinary displays I think I've ever seen. the broth began to boil and drip through the lava rock like a 4th grade science project, truly awesome and made for a great dining experience. So while I started out indifferent i ended up having one of my best meals in recent memory quality ingredients and copious amounts of food just made my day.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
