Crazy awesome! Being in SLC for the first time, I had to try a new buffet place. We went on Sunday morning - and prices were amazingly decent! We got there almost as they opened, and didn't have to wait to get a seat. They still looked pretty busy, but the food was awesome. They had sushi to spare. Minus one star, because it's not super fancy/nice, but everything was decent. 4-star decent. When we were on our way out, there was a line. Everyone obviously knows how good this place is!

Bonus points for the huge variety of food and the nice interior, but food quality is mostly poor to average. I love having sushi offered at Chinese Buffet, and this place has a cool little bar built into their Mongolian Grill area. The sushi itself is pretty poor however. I think they probably reuse their rice day to day, because in many of my rolls it was mushy and granular. The hot and sour soup is quite good, fulfilling both the hot and sour, with a nice kick from generous amounts of pepper. The rest of the offerings are par for the course. Sixteen different kinds of tired, dried out chicken sitting under heat lamps. Greasy, limp lo-mein noodles. I was excited for their "beef pie" because I've had it done really well other places, but here they mangle it. Soggy crust surrounds a disintegrating interior of vaguely beefy salt mush. They get bonus points for dessert. Their soft serve ice cream is actually creamy, not the crystalized ice milk you sometimes find. Strangely, have hard ice cream too in little single serve packs. They also have full round cakes alongside the typical rectangular sheet cakes, and peanut brittle makes for a nice change of pace. Finally, the chocolate fountain. Admittedly, the whole idea of a chocolate fountain makes my stomach turn. The only thing between my stomach and the handscum of other patrons is their proficiency with little wooden skewers. In a buffet setting, you want a solid separation between the food and patrons. It just seems flawed to have people practically dipping their hands right under flowing chocolate that just gets recycled over and over. Now, a free flowing chocolate-fall with no upstream contamination? That would be killer, but it probably not feasible. In any case, the chocolate itself is hardly worth mentioning. Hershey's syrup warmed over. In sum, a very middling experience but I would come back. They do have a huge variety, good H&S soup, and having sushi offerings (however poor) is a nice touch.

Since this place was closed down for health code violations it appears they have came back full force. We made reservations for our large party of 10 the night before and were promptly seated upon entering. We saw the whole waiting area completely full and a line out the door on both sides. Typical Chinese buffet except many items that are all fresh and flying out as fast as they empty them. They have a small Japanese station and a Mongolian station. Will for sure go back but only if we have a reservation.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
