Quite frankly, I'm amazed this place is still in business. The buns are dry and tend to fall apart. The burger is dry and practically flavorless. The guacamole tastes as though it comes straight out of a plastic bag. The bacon is paper-thin and brittle. The cheese fries, while tasty at first, only have cheese on the top layer of fries and the fries underneath are cheeseless and stale by the time you get to them. And is there even any onion in the onion rings? The thick, crunchy batter seems more suitable for fried shrimp at a cheap Chinese place. After having not eaten at this place in ages, I was quickly reminded why that was. Stay away.

Not great food. The fries are just okay at there best. Don't waste your money here. Chili's is close and way better.

Why? Why Training Table? Why do change things that have made you succeed. Why skimp on or change up what you're known for best - your Cheese Fries. I like the updated stores but it seems to have come as a cost of the quality of your food. We've come in 3 different times over the past months thinking that the first time was just a fluke, new cook, etc. but something has seriously changed and I bet the corporate folk know that is. I surely hope this is not the "New" Training Table because you can count a long time customer out it if is.

Sub par in every way! The employee who took our order was extremely rude, our food was cold before we got it back to the table, we paid for extra cheese on our cheese fries but got less cheese than usual, and tables throughout the restaurant sat dirty the entire time we were there. Yet the staff stood around and had social hour. We won't be back!

What a Sad day, been coming to these places since the early 80's. The food has gotten horrible since the new look, the burgers are not even worth ordering. I once enjoyed eating here when I visited Utah, but i will not be back. Sad, with the continuing of low food quality this place wont last long...

Clean, updated interior great food and service. Have been coming to training table for a lot of years and has never been disappointed...

It's the training table. A Utah original. It's okay. Little pricey for the quality. Service is usually sub par. Phones never work. It's training table.

I'm sitting at Training Table and there is a sign on the table that says "Love Us? Let Us Know on Yelp". So, I guess this also means that Training Table won't appreciate this review since I point out some issue I see. If they are looking for the love, does this mean they don't want the feedback? Oh well, here we go... I used to hit Training Table more often, but had not been in some time. While the menu is pretty much the same old comfort food we know and love, I was very disappointed with this location. The interior was updated a few year back, but that newness has worn off big time. We tried 5 different table before we found a combo of working table phone and clean enough (not clean) to sit at. Sure it was busy, but like any Training Table there is always a dozen teen employees standing around looking unsure of why they are there. I got news for you kids, PICK UP A RAG AND BUS/WIPE TABLES!! The place was gross. We did see one employee use what sounded to be a noisy, broken sweeper to make a half baked pass at the main entry isle, but missing any table areas that desperately needed it more. I was also disappointed to find the water dispenser and cups removed. Not sure why; cost cutting? Lack of use? Food was just ok, which was disappointing since I don't come here much anymore and probably won't again. The lettuce on my wife's salad was old and wilted. We asked for well done cheese fries and instead got cold, old, limp fries. (Usually they're great) I had also asked for no tomatoes on my burger and for the first time I can ever recall, they messed that up too. What happened Training Table? Why have you fallen so far? What will you do to show the love and redeem? With all the choices for food around the 106th shopping area, I can't recommend spending your hard earned money here, so I must bid farewell to this old friend.

This place is a dump. They need to teach the bus boy his job. We came in with a party of 8. The bus boy walked past 5 tables that were filthy. They stayed that way until we left. A Utah original. Just went to the restroom. Foul urine and fecal odor Dump

We came here again after not visiting for about 3 years. Wow! Very disappointing. They now give you a medium cheese fries but it is listed as large order. There was hardly any cheese on it. It tasted bland, just like they used store-bought frozen fries. The ham & turkey sandwiches had a lot of meat however everything was bland & kinda tasteless. We use to come to this particular location regularly but you can tell things have really changed. That is too bad. Management either does not read these reviews, do not care, or are just trying to keep it afloat. I doubt we will ever return again.

Training table was a staple growing up in Utah if my dad was in charge of deciding the restaurant for the evening. I had not been back in years, until this past weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming, efficient staff & updated look {flat screens for the NBA finals - perfection}. I was not disappointed with the food, either. The menu still consists of very nostalgic offerings, that hit all of your cravings. I will definitely be back!

Terrible place but family for some reason like the nasty food. Dirty place, smells bad, bad bathrooms. Orders always come out wrong and missing items I don't know how this place even makes enough money to stay open.

Just as powder blue, polyester, bell bottom suits were once a good idea, so to was the Training Table back in the day. My wife and our six year old visited this time capsule into 1986 and were reminded why our last visit was a couple years prior. The food is bland and over priced. I ordered the guacamole bacon burger and I can tell you it was one of the worst burgers I have ever eaten. It was over cooked, the bacon was dry and seemed stale and the lettuce on both of our burgers was indelible and brown. When I told the front counter guy, my food was not so great, he indignantly asked why it wasn't good. I gave him the many reasons and he told me to have a nice day... As for our family, we have officially retired Training Table from our dining options. Sadly, if Training Table were a horse it would require a one way visit to the glue factory. Not to beat a dead horse, but Training Table, like the cassette tape... it's time has come and gone.

The other poor reviews of this place are 100% accurate. My girlfriend and I went on a slow Sunday afternoon. There were 12 dirty tables. We had to search the restaurant for a clean one. There were two teenage employees behind the counter playing on their phones doing nothing. We "called" to make our order and they were busy on their phones. So it took them awhile to answer. We watched. Food was very bland- hardly worth the $10 price tag. The bathrooms look terrible. I'm absolutely shocked that this place is still in business.

Worst service ever! Left after waiting an hour with 3 children under the age of 7! Even cheese fries and ultimate dipping sauce aren't worth that! Went to A&W next door and got served within minutes.

It's a Utah thing. I love this place. It's not always clean, the music is too loud, and often weird, but the cheese fries, burgers, & sandwiches are awesome, so we like it and get there whenever we can. :)

Great burgers and fries. Somewhat overpriced. Hickory Burger is my favorite and go-to burger.

The low reviews are accurate. My girlfriend and I (she being a Utah native LOVES Training Table) visited this location Friday evening. Lowlights: Every open table was dirty. The cleanest table we found had a phone that didn't work. Once we found a table with a working phone, we placed our order just to watch the 4 teenagers behind the counter text rather than begin out order. We received our order, eventually, only to find a long black hair in the middle of her burger. This wouldn't be a HUGE issue, except that the burger was already subpar, and they refused to repay us for the burger, insisting that if we didn't get a replacement burger, they could do nothing for us. Highlight: We had ordered a small plate of fries, to share.. They have us a larger size. Ha. Needless to say, we won't be revisiting this location again.

Never have I had an experience like this one. I visited here 10 years ago and this was a place my father in law took me so I thought we should make a trip back. While a few things had changed, such as the train and sauce, I thought we would still give it a shot. My family ordered their food and picked it up in a timely manner. When I had one of my sweet potato fries it was very dry and over done. I decided to take it to the counter and ask for either a fresh order or simply the other fries if that was just how they made them there. While the first guy wasn't eager to help me, he did. As I waited by the counter for my order he informed, what turned out to be the manager, that I felt the fries were dry and I wanted either an order that was significantly better or different fries. He asked if the cheese fries in our order were ok and I said yes. As I moved to the side he proceeded to say, "She wants to be rude about her food...she will see what happens to food in this kitchen to people who are rude." The man that originally helped then whispered to him, "She is right there." I said yes I am right here and I wasn't rude. The original guy then said no you weren't I am sorry we will bring you your fries. When a girl brought my fries out I said she can take them back. I am not going to eat anything out of a kitchen where someone threatened to do something to my food. She said sorry and walked away. That was when the manager came over to apologize for the fries and said they would be removed from our check (after we told the girl to) and he needed our card to ring our order. While I could tell he was nervous and came back numerous times to ask if we needed anything else, he never once apologized for his behavior or comments. The entire time we were there we saw all of the associates talking about it and staring at us. After all of that I was given a whopping $4 back. To have a comment made like that by the manager clearly proves that not only has he taken this action in the past, but that what he has trained his staff to do. I would hate to see what happened to someone's food if they truly were rude. While I regret not making a big a scene and demanding my money back, I intended to ensure that the corporate office is made aware of what is taking place in their location. I highly recommend that you not only don't eat here, but inform everyone you know what takes place here.

Let me set the record straight on all these negative reviews. The Hickory Burger at The Training Table is the best burger in Utah, easily. All these trendy burger joints that are popping up (i.e. In 'N Out, Smash Burger, Five Guys, etc.) don't hold a candle to the burgers at The Training Table. I have been coming here for years, and I have never once been disappointed. The bacon is always perfect and the sauces here cannot be matched. If this place is put out of business by all these yuppies, then I don't want to live on this planet any longer.

Something has changed at this location. We entered, looked around at the new redesign, and tried to find a table. An entire section was full of dirty tables covered in dishes. I used my phone to turn off the TV's around the restaurant in hopes that it would get them to come clean some tables. It didn't. The food here has been great in the past. We haven't been in over a year. Today the food was subpar. Much worse than it has been in the past. The burgers were dry, they didn't get the order right, the fries tasted like a bag of freezer fries, and too many other odd things were going on. The bathroom...don't take more than 2 or 3 minutes in there, I'm not sure what the smell is in there, but it's strong. I'm really not sure what has happened here in the last year. The quality of the burger patties and the fries have gone way down. My guess would be they are trying to save some money, but it is at a loss of a lot of quality. We are done here until the reviews start going up. The tables were still dirty ~30 minutes later and by now 3 or 4 more had been added to them. It's sad to see something like this happen at somewhere that was once great, but I don't know what else to say. I'll be surprised if this location is still here in 2-3 years.

Food is great. Cheese fries with the dipping sauce is to die for. Don't really like the new ambiance and the lack of sweet 90's music. At least play music...

Pros: The food was pretty good. The milkshakes are good as well. The idea of the phone ordering is terrific. Cons: The seats where pretty dirty. You had to pick up the food yourselves which I wasn't aware of. The TVs looked like they where having seizures. The quality of the TVs where also really bad. Overall: I am most likely coming here again. Not a good place to take a date or watch the football game, but a decent place to grab a quick bite to eat.

At a recent visit we ordered several of Training Table's "classics"... Blue Bacon Burger, Hickory Burger, Extreme Double Burger, cheese fries and dipping sauce, as well as the Veggie Burger and onion rings. The burgers were all perfectly cooked and garnished. Buns were fresh and soft. The BBB had lots of crunchy bacon and the housemade dressing was yummy. The HB was well-cooked and the hickory sauce was delicious...tangy and not too sweet. This is not a barbecue sauce but some special concoction--yum. The EDB is a cheeseburger with two full-sized patties and cheese. I didn't sample it but my dining partner loved it. The cheese fries were a hit, but the group noticed there is only cheese on the top; it would be better if it was throughout the platter. Also as they cooled, they became...not as good. Still, the dipping sauce saved the day and the plate was cleaned. The veggie burger was a hit too; admittedly my dining partner jazzed it up by adding hickory sauce. The onion rings were a bit overcooked for my taste, but when I called for a replacement the crew was quick to accommodate and apologetic for the mistake. The restaurant is clean, bright and modern-looking. Looks like it might have been recently remodeled. Nice. There are several flat-screen tvs throughout; my guys enjoyed that element. Overall, great food, good service, good atmosphere.

Sorry, but this place smells really bad. Either its not washed or everyone there was on the intestinal fritz. The food is overpriced for what it is. But the french fries and chili were ok. The hamburger tastes like a Mcdonald's hamburger-but a little bigger and pricier. Not a fan (and our family loves a great hamburger)
