Good buffet! I am a meat eater, and still enjoyed it! SOUP SOUP SOUP! I love soup. So, enjoyed souping it up here. If you love soup, eat here for a good light buffet!

I'll bet I eat here every other week as it's within two miles of my office in South Jordan. The food is nothing but fresh every time. Anyone on here saying the salad, or fruit isn't fresh is either completely blind or the pickiest eater of all time because it's always fresh as can be. Wish there was more fruit selection, but for $9, I'll take what they have. Great salad selection, great soup selection. There's soft serve, a potato bar and some pasta and bread selections as well. It's never too crowded and it's generally pretty clean. Great staff as well. This place is perfect for someone who wants to stuff their face till they're full but not go over 1000 calories at the same time.

Great Soup, Salad & Bread. Chicken Noodle soup had huge chunks of chicken and very flavorful. Kids love the Mac & Cheese and Ice cream.

i like the variety of veggies on the salad bar and the selection of greens - spinach and mixed greens as opposed to just iceberg. i do not like that most of their prepared 'salads' are sweet. i have found the soups bland and the pasta station consists of someone with vats of precooked sauces and pasta combining them in wok. the mac and cheese was surprisingly tasty but watery. their flatbreads are pretty good and i enjoy the baked potatoes.

You know, it annoys me a lot when people give bad reviews to a place just because it's crowded or noisy. Well, if a place has decent to great food and it's not uber-expensive, GUESS WHAT?! It will be crowded and ergo, noisy. Especially if they offer specials like $1.15 for kids under age 8 (like one of the earlier reviews mentioned). So if you hate crowds and noise, maybe you should not go out on a Friday/Saturday night. (Seriously, you cannot go to Disneyland and say that it sucks because you hate kids. Well if you hate kids, then don't go to Disneyland. Duh.) As for the food, I think it's really good. Whenever I'm in the mood for a tasty salad (or like 5 different tasty salads), this is the place I want to be! They also usually have 3-4 different soups daily, with at least one vegetarian option. Plus, they have pasta and mac n cheese. And some pretty delicious breads. The desserts are not my fave (I'm not much of a dessert person), but they DO have soft serve, which is ALWAYS a plus. Now you might be thinking, whoa, five stars? Really? There isn't anything bad about this place? Well. To be honest, there really isn't anything negative that I remember about my numerous experiences here. The staff is friendly and great - they keep your table free from any dirty dishes (pretty much the moment you finish your plate). The food is fresh and tasty, and there is a good variety that changes day to day. From my experiences, the bathroom was always clean.

Simply the best. We live in Cali and come to Utah twice a year and always eat here once each time we come. The kids love it to. Everything is so fresh and good.

It was pretty good, there weren't any savory thing is the bakery only sweets, there were only a few different salads but they did taste great. There was an ice cream machine but when I went chocolate wasn't working. There was good service, and considering the price it wasn't all that bad.

Having a more healthy option for buffet food is a great idea, and is my main reason for ever coming here. The salad bar is great and you can make a satisfying yet healthy plate of food quickly and easily. I have generally found the items available in the salad bar to be fresh and they do have a good selection of items. For the most part the soups are also fairly good, but also not anything to write home about. Breads here though are not good, they are often stale and dry - fortunately I don't come here for that and honestly it helps my diet as a result by preventing me from indulging in the one thing that could offset my healthily chosen salad items! Realistically, it's a buffet folks - and so you don't expect stellar service or gourmet food, nor will you find it. The bathrooms here are also nothing but gross. I personally think it's overpriced same as others mention, but to counter that I think of when we make salads at home, buy a crap load of ingredients and subsequently never use half of it, that's wasteful and expensive too. So on that note, I'll conclude that I enjoy the convenience of Sweet Tomatoes and the selection of its salad bar items combined with the fact it's a good alternative to less healthy options I could pick instead, and thus despite the few negative factors give it a solid A OK rating and suspect it's somewhere I will continue to come to.

I've always avoided going here because I don't like eating grass i.e. salads. but hubbie dragged me here last night and I was surprisingly pleased. Pros: 1.delicious soup--tried two types. really liked both. If you like chicken noodle soup, this is the place for you 2. friendly & courteous staff 3. Wide selection of salads & dressings 4. Clean Cons: 1. fruit bar was not that great---only had oranges, jello, apples...

This location is always clean and the food is always available. I like eating here. The pasta is always hot and the salads and ingredients are fresh.

After visiting the Festival of Trees, I was excited to take my family to Sweet Tomatoes for a late lunch. The salad bar was good, but everything else was just ok. As for service, we were onto dessert before anybody came to clear the plethora of plates at our small table. Unfortunately, two of the four became sick a couple hours after eating here. It is unlikely I will be back.

Typical Sweet Tomatoes chain. I love this place because I like to eat vegetarian and enjoy buffets. Pro's: - Decent salads - Large selection of soups * My favorite - Clean - Friendly & courteous staff - Had a Sweet Tomato mascot walking around saying hi to the kids Con's: - Fruit bar is lacking and full of fruit that looks like it's been sitting there all day and should be tossed out. Oranges and apples I think. * Where is the canteloupe, honey dew melons and watermelon that I'm used to seeing in Sweet Tomatoes in California? - Jello and strawberry pudding are in the fruit bar section.

Strange set up right when you walk in. It's just like Souplanation (same restaurant, different name), and right when you walk in you're forced into the throng of people waiting for your endless salad bar. Tip: don't come here on a Friday night unless you're planning on toting your incredibly large family along. Seriously, there were so many families there? I was wondering why, until I found the prices for young children: $1.15 for kids under age 8. Then I remembered, this is Utah. Of course! As much food as you can possibly get for the smallest amount...now it makes sense. I guess I can't make fun, seeing as how I brought a coupon to get my buffet for $7.99. Come to find out the regular price of the buffet is $8.99. Woo! Saved a dollar. The food was decent, though my expectations were not sky high. The lettuce was fresh as well as all of the condiments, but there were only two choices of salads other than build-your-own: Chinese chicken and Caesar. Also, if you want chicken with your salad, you have to purchase a small cup of it for an additional $1.25. Sad. The soup bar wasn't too bad, though the french onion soup looked a little iffy. And I have to say, the soft serve was so creamy, and they have granola to put on top (p.s....that's the best combination ever - chocolate soft serve and granola..mmm). Like I said earlier, the place was swarming with families; thus, it was incredibly loud. Kids kept running around like crazy. The girl who took our plates away was super nice...I felt bad that she has to deal with that atmosphere. Overall, not a bad experience.

We went on a Saturday night - which was a mistake. The restaurant was very noisy, and we had to wait at least 20 minutes for a table. The bathrooms were unclean. The food was OK - most of it wasn't special, but some of the salads were tasty (the broccoli salad is quite good). The soft serve ice cream is horrible. Thankfully, the staff was friendly and helpful.

Another great value. The salads are very good and deserve a three star ratings. Although the rest of the food does not, it is is still good for the price.

When I'm in themood for greens, this is my favourite place. I can eat my fill of salads, have a cup of clam chowder and have a baked potato with all the fixins. Then have their creamy soft serve yogurt. I like to go for lunch on a weekday, not so bad crowd-wise. Service is good so I hope customers are leaving tips for their servers. As long as they take away the dirty plates, I feel they deserve them. I used to eat at a place called Fresh Choice, so was happy to see Sweet Tomatoes in Sandy. T was just like being home. The salad bar has a wide variety of toppings and sides, the soups are varied with both creamy and broth based soups, and the pasta bar has different breads too, my favourite being the chocolate muffins. A great place for lunch!

I come here a few times a year. If you are looking for comfort food, look elsewhere. Gluten free, nut free, meat free... Come prepared with a touch of cash for the person clearing your table, they don't add tip to your receipt. I'm not a fan of the baked goods, I find them all dry and bland. Service has always been friendly. Food stations clean and presentable. Floor plan awkward, other patrons almost always annoying.

Sad day.... I use to eat here at least twice a week if not more. When I started traveling for work I didn't come in for about 6 months and yeesh... Have things gone downhill fast. One of my favorite things use to be the chicken noodle soup. What made it awesome was the actual pieces of rotisserie chicken abounding within. Both white and (my favorite) dark meat. Tonight it was straight up canned chicken or what I lovingly refer to as "tuna chicken" so sad. In terms of food quality, it is obvious that they have taken a step down, and yet, prices have gone up since last we were here. This really makes me sad... And I hope they step up their quality to where it was when it was my favorite place to eat.

What can I say about Sweet Tomatoes or Souplantation as we call it where I'm from. It's good, sometimes even great but it'll never blow your socks off. But if you go with a coupon it's usually $7.99 for all you can eat soups and salads, which is a pretty stellar deal regardless. It definitely beats olive gardens endless soup and salad deal any day. I love that they constantly have limited time menu items - keeps things interesting. Recently they had pumpkin muffins. I topped it with maple whip and it was deeelicous! Since it's a buffet I would say try a little bit of everything if it's your first time. But if I had to say, I would say my favorite items are the Chinese chicken salad and Joan's broccoli madness. I stack those items til they're overflowing on my plate every time mmMm! Don't forget to sign up for their emails! They send out coupons very often and they are better deals than the coupons you get in the mail.

How could you not love this place? When ever I'm craving a good salad & soup, this is the place I like to come to. Yes, it's your typical buffet style restaurant, but they have a lot of choices of salads and soups to choose from. The corn bread and cheese bread are to die for. The fresh strawberry juice is a must try! I would rate it 5 stars, however the desseret bar could be a little better. And I must say they do a good job at keeping it pretty clean. The staff are really friendly and great about removing your plates in a quickly matter. Also, it's a great place to take the kids!

My wife and I love going to sweet tomatoes. They have a great salad bar and their cheese and broccoli soup is amazing!! I kept going back for seconds and thirds of that soup. So your looking at spending around $8-9 bucks per person and its all you can eat. The price is the same for lunch and dinner and the selection is the same. They have the salad bar, soup bar, baked potatoes, some pasta options, and a nice take of pizza (its really yummy). They also have self-serve ice cream and fruits for dessert. This is a very family friendly resturant and good change of pace type place. I recommend it!

I tried the Sweet Tomatoes by South Towne Center and was none too impressed. It was my first time ever eating at a Sweet Tomatoes and, while I know this shouldn't affect my opinion, the place was far too crowded for a Wednesday night. It was so crowded in fact that my family (my parents and younger brother were in town) and I had to basically corner another family at a large table and wait for them to leave. We sat at their dirty table until the waitress came by and cleared everything away as quickly as she could. The one thing I did like is that the waitress carried my tray to the table for me. The service was pretty good. The food was sub-par at best. The salad was basic but not bad, but anything at the bakery I would avoid. I didn't try the soups but they didn't have a big variety of soups anyway. The meal was $10 a person and I don't feel the meal was worth the price.

I love this place for many reasons. The first one being that I LOVE buffets. I love variety without the extra added expense. If you've never been here before, as you first enter you pick up a tray and a couple of plates and build your salad(s). There are pre-made salads or you can build your own with the huge slew of salad add ons. I like to get 2 plates and get both the premades and also build my own. Here they also have a variety of pasta salads. After you're done creating your ideal salad you pay. You then pick your seat, enjoy your salad and then take advantage of the many soups they have! At the soup bar they also have pastas and a fruit and ice cream bar and assorted breads. Save room to try everything. Most people get full off the salads. I really liked the minestrone. All the other soups were ok. ;) All in all, it's a relaxing semi-healthy food joint to eat at with lots to choose from.

It's really kinda gross. Maybe I'm just not a buffet person but it is very similar to Golden Corral and Chuck a Rama. Food just sits under the heat lamp. Gross. Even the salad is just iceberg out of bag. I'm just not a fan. I don't think this is a place that is worth paying to eat at.

The variety alone is worth the drive for me. The salad bar is so good. The soups are excellent and baked potato bar is amazing. I never eat ice cream but I know it's good because my husband eats two or three.

Sweet Tomatoes is great - mostly ate it in California, have only been to the Sandy location a handful of times. It's got the standard setup, but a slightly smaller dining room. The food is always fresh but it seems that prices are going up, not to mention that they are now trying to nickle and dime you for extra ingredients (chicken).

Where's the meat? A friend was going to Sweet Tomatoes with his family and invited us. There were no expectations. I've seen several around Salt Lake Valley and thought we should give it a shot. This is a buffet style place with salad being the main attraction. The problem I had was that the salad bar was pretty basic. Nothing out of the ordinary or extraordinary comes to mind. I was hoping for some good side salad choices but there were few if any. There is a small pasta bar and a few baked goods like muffins and cheese bread to break the salad monotony which was alright at best. Food was semi-fresh and the place was clean. It was late in the day around 3:00 and there were few patrons and few employees. Summary- When dining buffet style I like lots of options and try a little bit of everything unfortunately for me there wasn't much to try. The only choice was Spinach or iceburg. While I'm not a fan I do see the value in being able to grab a healthy lunch quickly.

There was a lot of variety and its a good deal as a lunch buffet, all the while feeling healthier than other buffets. The salad selection is diverse. I prefered the hot stuff though. The pizza bread, corn bread, and soups are pretty good. Nothing special about the ice cream. The fruit is kept in good condition (pineapple was decently sweet). Service was very good, the waitress promptly came to take our dishes away and refill our drinks.

I love buffets because I love the amount of food you can get for the price and that you can try a little of everything. You start by making a salad, then you pay, and then you find a seat and get to see what else is available. I came to this restaurant with 11 other people. If you have a party of more than 4 people, you most likely will have to split up or try and push tables together. When we got there, there were a lot of tables that didn't have people at them, but had lots of dirty dishes. We had to push together several tables and clear them ourselves onto another dirty table. I thought the food options were pretty good, you could get pasta, soup, jello, pudding, pizza, breads, pastries, ice cream etc. On a taste level I wasn't that impressed, but if you don't like something you can always try something else.

It's nice to have a healthier option when it comes to a buffet. The food and options are good, and we were pleased to have a good customer service experience: some other people completely janked our table when we were next to be seated. The staff noticed immediately and rushed to get another table ready for us, and then gave us a bag of snicker doodles, which helped assuage the building misanthropy in my mind.

I'm really surprised by all of the positive reviews. This place used to be good, but had really gone down hill. Food doesn't taste fresh, but tastes like it's been sitting forever. The salad is sub par & the restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food their offering. Really disappointed because this place used to be good & I enjoyed going there...but not anymore!

This place is a safe heaven for vegetarians, or light meat eaters. There's tons of salad, the asian crunch being my fav. salad ingredients with lots of toppings, 3 different types of pasta, 6 or 7 different types of soup, many kinds of breads, and some cheese breads, and a hawaiian pizza, that is actually to die for. They also have ice cream that is actually quite tasty, and caramel and chocolate sauce and peanuts and other toppings. They have servers always cleaning up and filling up drinks, and did I mention is all BOTTOMLESS?!?!?! for fattys wanting to lose weight, this is a safe haven (as long as you stay away from the tasty bread and pizza) that way you fill yourself up til you feel like death, and have only gained maybe half of the calories you would have gained in a normal buffet. So yeah... go eat yourself skinny. See ya next Thyme!

Lots of fresh ingredients for healthy salads, good baked goods, good pasta and soups too! Sweet Tomatoes has a lot to offer when you're looking for a healthy to semi-healthy lunch or dinner. Sure it gets crowded and noisy sometimes, but it's a restaurant. If you don't like crowds or noise then stay home and I'll enjoy Sweet Tomatoes without you.

I love this salad bar, I haven't eaten at a Sweet Tomatoes in a couple of years. I live in Ohio and I haven't seen one near where I live. Their prices have gone up over the years but whose hasn't. They have from what I believe one of in not the best salad bar going now. Ruby Tuesday has has cut way way back on their selection many other places have gotten away from salad vase in total.
