I ate here one time, that was enough; never again. This was several years ago. They felt entitled to automatically charge 20% for the tip on top of my bill, for a 2 person table. I left the bill as-is with the tip, and never complained; they billed me to never come back. To any business: how can you improve your service if you feel entitled to something not deserved? Pros: * Parking Cons: * Expensive * Service * Slow

This place is convenient sushi for my husband and I - right in the neighborhood - so we get take-out from here often. I would definitely recommend the Citrus Prawns - they are DELICIOUS! The squid salad is just okay, most of the rolls we have gotten have been yummy. My husband is a big fan of the tempura shrimp & veggies.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff. Very friendly and pleasant. To me, rolls were a bit undersized than some places, but delicious and I am sure larger than others. I was very pleased. My only complaint, even with "Happy Hour" prices I found it a bit pricey. But it wouldnt stop me from returning. In all, I was happy, even with the ending. :) Jerm out

This is the second time my wife and I came to mizumi. My wife ordered her favorite Ramen, which taste good. I order a different meal this time, which is the short ribs. It taste really delicious... It is boneless, medium well (so perfectly tender) meat with unique wasabi flavor mash potato... It taste really really good ! The meat taste like Korean Kalbi but they cut thin, which made it very tender. The only negative is the portion or the price, without Groupon discount, I won't feel worth the size/portion.

My favorite neighborhood sushi place. Have yet to be dissatisfied with a roll or sashimi. The service can sometimes be lacking (there is a ditzy server or two that forget things easily) -- but if the owner is serving you it is always spot on, and super friendly regardless of who is helping you. The place is certainly not "fancy" on the inside, but the food more than makes up for it. If you are looking for a glitzy place, then you might want to head downtown.... but if you are looking for good sushi at a good place and price, this is the place for you. So happy to have some good sushi at the south end of the valley.

I would rate it a zero if I could! FROM ONE LOYAL YELPER TO ANOTHER: DO NOT EAT HERE! I actually ate here a couple years ago and it was just about as bad but my wife and I gave it a second chance because we had been given a gift card. If we were given another I would rip it up! The food was mediocre, the sushi was about as good as most grocery store sushi, and I have waited a few months to draft this review because I have been too upset about the service to want to think about it. They were prompt and friendly in seating us, but sat us in a section that was a cheap expansion that I'm guessing used to be a patio, which was drafty, noisy and melting hot! We asked to be seated in one of the many open tables within the restaurant, as we were the only people of the 4-5 filled tables that were sat out there, but they rudely shot a "no" and explained that it was a different servers route. (the only reason I did not leave at this point was because of the gift card we had) The server showed up about 20 minutes after we were seated and asked for drinks, I informed her that because of the long wait we would like to also order our food, but she fought me and said she would bring the drinks and grab the order when she returned, well apparently it takes 15 minutes to pour a coke and a lemonade, because even after informing another waiter that we were anxious to order, she decided to take her sweet time. After ordering, the Miso we had ordered came out at an acceptable interval, and then after that my wires food the sushi roll i ordered came out, and the waitress informed me that my food would be out shortly. Because i was a bit worried i started to time this on my phone, and i promise this is not an exaggeration: even after several comments to the other server in our area (who also didn't care or want to help us) we did not see our waitress, drink refills or my food for 48 minutes!!! Of course my wife was DONE and wanted to go home, and by this time i was so mad i wasn't even hungry anymore, and the food tasted like it was ready on time, and sat there the whole time cooling off. Now I'm not one for confrontation and to make a scene, so the entire time waiting, all we had really done (and we shouldn't have had to do this) was grab the other waiter several times and inform him we would like refills/my food/ our waitress to return, to which he kept assuring, she was likely just waiting for the teriyaki chicken to cook (not sure in which universe it takes over an hour for teriyaki to cook!) The word part about it for both of us is that they were rude and never acknowledged that there was a problem, when she showed back up after not seeing us for almost an hour, she almost looked surprised that we were still there, and said, "oh your food is almost ready" like she was still waiting, then went back to the kitchen and came back with my cold plate of food. then without asking or acknowledging anything she turned and walked away, at which i said, "HEY CAN WE PLEASE GET SOME REFILS!" THEN TO TOP IT ALL OFF: after she had delivered my food, and again several attempts with the other waiter, the server again took (and this time i didn't time it) somewhere between 30 and 40 minutes before she came back, again no drink refill for me, and because the food was cold i only ate a bit and was done around the 5 or 10 minute mark, i wish so badly that we would have just left without paying, i have not ever done this, but there should be a law that says if they do not want to bring you your check, you do not have to pay. Now i am an excellent tipper, i will do at least 25% if the service is even just good, and typically much more if the food and/or service was excellent, also my rule of thumb is that i will never tip less than $5 even if the ticket is under $10-$20, but this became my one exception so far, but for reasons beyond me, i still talked my wife into letting me leave 10% but i wish i had left nothing! I am betting that the 2 reviews that say "the best sushi place" have to be employees, because even if the service was amazing, and food was better, i don't think anyone could honestly rate this place as "the best", unless its the only sushi they have had! I really could go on and on about this place and i left out lots of gruesome details, but please please please, from one Yelper to another, even on principle alone: DO NOT EAT HERE!!!

Ummm....hmm....where should I start. This restaurant was owned by a Japanese dad and son. They would go fishing by day and making sushi at night. Unfortunately, the father aged and cannot do this anymore so they sold the business. I checked in at Mizumi and by coincidence, a friend checked in 5 minutes before us, so we joined them. It was a busy night for them, so it is understandable and we patiently waited. Here is another thing, I felt bad for the server because the Bro-sushi chef was being chatty with the customer. Yes, I am being judgmental. Hehe... This Bro-sushi chef was trained in Japan and he was practicing his Japanese with two Japanese customers in front of him. You can tell he was concentrating at the customers but not his sushi. While the another sushi chef behind him was trying to be fast as he could to get the sushi done. 40 minutes later, the server brought over our friend's sushi. I stared at the sushi! There are avocado all over it and one of my friend is allergy to avocado. I thought to myself, I don't think she is committing suicide in the middle of sushi restaurant. Yea, they brought up the wrong dish. Finally we were able to get our serve and took it away. After we got our food, we did not have any utensils. waited...waited...waiting...to get our utensils. Yep, the whole of night was just a waiting game. I was the only who actually enjoyed my dish. I had beef on fire and oh yeah, it was good! Sweet, tangy and juicy! I was at the restaurant because I wanted to try the Ramen but they only serve it during winter. If you want it during summer, you have to call ahead. The owner was really nice and tried to explain to us about the Ramen and her phone number on the receipt. Well, the owner can't do much when rest of experiences was pretty bad. But I will be back for ramen someday.

This place has really gone downhill. I understand it is under new management. The menu has been changed. The food is horrible, the service is just as bad. There is one server for the whole restaurant. Years ago this place was pretty decent for a local Sandy joint. They had awesome Ramen but no longer an option. I would discourage anyone from going there and having to pay high prices for sub par food.

Not horrible. Not great. Don't know if I will go again. Good service. Sushi didn't taste very fresh. My glass was dirty.

Their quality of food have drop in recent years. Sushi still taste great, but other part lack quality. For the price you pay, mind as well go somewhere else.

Mizumi. That's the Japanese word for "lake." Lakes are almost entirely fresh water. I suppose there's some sashimi that comes from fresh water... Petty sure it's a Japanese restaurant. Pretty sure is owned by Koreans. Not that Korean-run restaurants can't be successful. Consider Mikado... I'm not racialist. I just think like Mexican, Japanese do better Japanese than Korean. The place is good. They've got a lot of regulars. The prices aren't cheap. It's been around for a long time. That should say something.

I came here with my family on my trip to Utah from California for Thanksgiving break. It was dinner right after a day filled with skiing and snowboarding, so there were hungry stomachs to fill! FOOD: - I am a sushi fan. I think I have sushi at least 2-3 times a month. And definitely, their rolls were fresh and tasty. I recommend the PA roll and the Tataki. The PA roll just melted in my mouth as I tasted the spiciness of the jalapeno as well. It was definitely the best roll. Also the Tataki was so fresh and it went well with the sauce that was served together. - I also had the beef udon... it hit the spot as I had a long day in the snow. The beef broth was perfect as well the noodles in combination with the chewy beef. - My family had the beef plate as well. The beef was so tender and it just melted in your mouth with the mashed potatoes. I would definitely recommend this for the meat lovers. The sweet teriyaki sauce was definitely added the extra layer of taste as well. SERVICE: - The service was so great. Our party was 8+ and they were extremely accommodating to everyone's needs and everyone's wants. The waitress gave us lots of feedback and recommendations on what everyone should order. PARKING: - There is a fairly large parking lot right in front of the store. Parking was convenient and the store was easy to see from the street My family loved it! It was a great experience especially not being at home during Thanksgiving. All you sushi lovers should check out this place!

Save yourself from being HANGRY and avoid this place at all cost! We waited for over a hour for our food and once we receive it smelled of cat food. It's very expensive for how small the portions are. The waitress kept apologizing, but wouldn't do anything to improve the service. We called ahead and made reservations and they said they were not busy at all, instead of setting expectations that they are short handed and how long we would have to wait.

I really wanted to give this place a great review. The service was very attentive, the food arrived quickly and the ingredients were fresh. That being said, I think the prices are really expensive for such a basic menu. Many of the rolls have similar ingredients. What's the deal with most options including cream cheese or tempura? A little creativity would go a long way there. Also the dishes and glasses had a film on them which is pretty unsanitary. The food tasted great so we just cleaned our forks with our napkins and tried to ignore the sheen on the plate edges. This place needs to step it up a notch.

Excellent service tonight at Mizumi! Thanks Helen! The sushi and tempura are some of the best in town!

Sorry to say this was the worst sushi I have ever had. There was no flavor, it was so plan and bland. Will never go back and suggest people try somewhere else.

Well...some of the bad reviews concerned me when I was invited by friends to visit Mizumi for dinner. But my experience was quite good. The service was attentive, pleasant and capable. The sushi was not the best I have had, but it was adequately prepared and presented. The fish was firm and fresh. Some the rolls were not "expert tight", but the ingredients were there. We sampled a broad range, including a serviceable miso soup and several tempura options. All were good. Dessert...which I never pursue around sushi for some weird reason...was tried. The fried banana was excellentThe mochi ice cream quite good.

The exterior of this place has always drawn my attention. We finally went in on my daughters recommendation and found that what the restaurant showed on the outside was not repeated on the inside. Interior ambiance is very laking. The food was edible and ok but there are much better sushi place out there.

Mizumi will always have a special place in my heart because it's the restaurant I went to when I tried my first sushi roll :) However, that being said---I've since been able to have amaaazing sushi and Mizumi's is just okay. I had only gone that one time until today when my fiancé and I were driving by on our way home and noticed their sign that said 'Happy Hour Sushi' so we decided to give it another shot. Happy Hour prices were great and they had a nice selection. We started with salad w/ house dressing which was super nummy. We ordered Vegas Roll, Salmon Solstice and Soft Shell Crab Roll. No complaints on any of those. The staff is great and we enjoyed the service. Overall---Mizumi's is a decent local sushi dive and I would recommend going during Happy Hour from 5:30-7:30p Mon-Sat to really make it worth it.

I've only been to this place once, and frankly, I'm scared to go back. Reason being is because I dined at this restaurant with one of my mom's friends, who is one of those snobby customers who needs to be catered to like a queen. She upset most of the wait staff because she didn't understand that service would be slightly slower since we came on a busy night. She offended most of the servers with her attitude and our table got yelled at by the manager. I was very startled because the food wasn't that bad and the location is cozy and homely. They have their own parking lot and their wait staff is generally happy and courteous. It devastated me that the manager told us we were not welcomed at her restaurant anymore. I pissed her off even more when I asked her about a discount since one of my best friends worked there. Only thing that bugs me is that if your party contains 6 or more people, they will not separate your checks for you. There's even a sign on the wall that clearly states their policy. I find this highly ridiculous because every time I'm at a restaurant that refuses to separate our checks, someone winds up paying more than their share because of the ridiculous math we have to do. Therefore, I don't recommend this restaurant for large groups.

Worst sushi in Utah. Super slow service, stoned waiters, and awful bland rolls. Smelled of strong bleach coming from kitchen, complained to management and they could have cared less. Spend the extra ten minutes and go elsewhere.

Good enough sushi. Nothing spectacularly good or bad. With the specials, rolls are cheap, but they are also very small. Cheap beer.

Where to start... We went at around 7 on a Friday night, parking lot was about half full so we figured we'd be in/out. Stood around for a few minutes before anyone even acknowledged our presence. We were told "let me clean off this table and I will seat you." Hostess then proceeded to go shoot the shit with the regulars for five minutes. By the time we were seated we knew what we wanted but were just dumped at a table with a menu where we sat for another several minutes before a waiter showed with water and took our order. After waiting for our sushi for about 20 minutes we noticed a tray over by the sushi bar. We debated amongst ourselves if it was ours or not and after it sat at the bar for several more minutes it was brought to our table. We had three roles (Philadelphia, Jalapeno, and a Vegas) and they were all mediocre. The one that stood out for all the wrong reasons was their Philadelphia role which is to date the worst role I've ever had anywhere. Also as soon as I walked in I made note that the place smelled like my grandma's house (kind of a wet/old/cat smell, not too sure I can describe it in words).
