Great Mexican food and isn't a chain restaurant. Amazing flavor and food. Quality food prepared fresh and with all the extra touches. Not a fancy place, yet it's always has customers due to the quality and quantity. The nachos are awesome.

This place was opened and changes from prior ownership, was Agave previously. Location has been Mexican food for a few years. They changed interior and signage is still coming together. Chips & salsa very tasty, salsa has more kick and decent range of flavor beyond a tomato paste... that most Utah Mexican restaurants. Still a puree style, which I miss the chunkier vegi style I am accustomed to in Nor-Cal. Chips have a pretty solid flavor on them, not your basic plain/non-seasoned chip. Ordered burrito Pastor, it's tasty. I wouldn't say it's my favorite burrito... but is worth trying. I agree the plate was 1/2 beans and rice (or more) and then burrito. For the price I would say this is fair and competitive. Quality seemed better than some of the local chains (ie: La Frontera, Betos, Albertos, etc). For Utah I give it 4 stars on visit #1.

Good food and really great service. This new location is spacious with high ceilings. The parking lot has plenty of spots. I don't eat in Sandy often but I had a lunch meeting and this place seemed like a fun option. Located in a small business complex, it did not have a restaurant sign up yet so I almost drove right by it. The two of us were seated immediately and water glasses were brought to our tables quickly. After much thought, we both settled on the Enchilada Suiza which happened to be the Friday Special. I love horchata, so I had to order it. Nice large cup, smooth taste, and not gritty. I got refried beans with my entree and everything was great. It was a great portion size for lunch and we both finished everything on our plates. The owner and server both checked in on us several times to make sure everything was fine and that our cups were full. We were able to sit and talk for a while after we finished our meals; the server cleared the table and told us to not worry about having to leave before we were ready. The staff was so respectful of the pace of our meal. The restaurant reminds me of La Frontera but the service was much better.

Awesome food, awesome service. The portions are huge and the food is hot and fresh. Our waiter was super nice, the place is clean, prices are great, and food is better. I can't ask for more. Yummy yummy, I'll be back.

I loved the chicken soup. It had a lot of chicken along with avocado, rice and cilantro. Be sure to get the limes with it. The tamale was ok, and I probably didn't need it with the soup. The salsa bar had a number of great choices with all varieties of heat. The service was very friendly and prompt on the refills. I would recommend this place to anyone who asks.

Never knew this place had existed until I found it on Yelp. Service was fast and friendly. Food was okay, nothing spectacular or to brag about. The best part of the meal were the deserts especially the tres leches. We will probably go back again.

Trusted YELP review to dine here. 98 reviews giving the restaurant a 4.5 star rating for a place that doesn't even have out front signage and has only been open a brief time. Obviously somebody is loading the app with positive reviews. I ordered green chili pork burrito smothered. Flavorless and mostly refried beans. My wife had two ground beef tacos. FLAVORLESS. We left without finishing our meal. Maybe it's all a matter of taste. Quick and friendly service and the salsa was good. I'm beginning to lose trust in YELP.

Stopped in for lunch today and splurged on the carne asasda plate for $12.99. Los Garcias passed the first critical test of a great Mexican restaurant with their tasty chips and salsa. If you are a whimp, you might find their salsa a bit on the spicy side. I'm always up for plenty of heat though. It's not too hot, just a very flavorful table salsa. The carne asasda was tender and delicious. I have to say that the refried beans really stole the show. Muy rico! They took me back to days of my childhood snacking on homemade frijoles and homemade flour tortillas. Such are the benefits of growing up gringo in San Diego with generous Mexican friends. The flour tortillas are made fresh at Los Garcias every day. They were so good that my next visit might just be for a healthy bowl of beans and fresh tortillas. Thanks to my friend, Tammy Y. for the recommendation!

Good food, pretty good service. Had the smothered chili verde burrito. Nothing spectacular, a solid okay. Similar to the local La Frontera chain. Also had the large guacamole appetizer which was great. Minimal extras tossed in, very light and fresh. My first impression was service was fantastic, but that changed during the meal. Our server was on top of beverages and things looked great. Food came out for me an my wife, but our toddlers meal was forgotten. We had to flag down the server to check. By the time he got his mini quesadilla we were done with our meals. If not for the issues with my little boy's food probably would have given four stars. Edit: Normally I wouldn't do this, but bumped up rating to 4. Owner reached out through yelp with genuine apology and I decided to give them another shot (this time just me). Different server, same food. Amazing the difference an attentive server can make!

This is like a cafeteria and very very loud. They do not serve beer or wine. We could not get past the salsa which tasted like it came from a jar and we left without even ordering.

Simple little place that serves up good Mexican food. I don't feel like I'm gonna die from food coma afterwards, which makes this place good for lunch I got the chicken burrito and our server was nice enough to let us try the drinks on tap that we had never tried before. Seems like there's a lot of regulars that come by here. I'll b back!

Wait staff were very friendly and the food was awesome. First time in 3 years that both my wife and loved our meals. Usually we go somewhere and one likes it and the other doesn't. We will definitely come back soon.

Blue and I have been lamenting the fact that there appear to be no truly decent places to get Mexican food here in Utah, but it appears as though that problem might have been rectified.... at least as far as Blue is concerned. First note: People are starting to catch on to this place, which is great for business, but makes for a rather longish wait. The service was very friendly, even if it was slightly slow. The staff seems like family, which is great, very warm, very accommodating. The menu had a variety of options, including several authentic choices that I'm not use to seeing at other places. Blue opted for the combo plate with a chicken enchiladas, a pork tamale, and the chili relleno. I went with the pork tamale smothered in chili Verde and cheese. Blue loved everything on his plate. I personally didn't care for the relleno, but to be fair, I typically never enjoy restaurant versions of this dish. The chicken in the enchilada was a little watery, but the flavors were all very nice. I very much enjoyed my tamale and pork Verde. Blue is elated to have a go-to Mexican place, and I'm interested to try some other menu items.

So not sure where why people are rating this place so high. Had a ceviche tostada. It was cut of shrimp with tomatoes could not taste and limes or lemons. Also parts of the shrimp tail was on the tostada. Had the carne asada tacos they were ok nothing to write home about.

We came here because of the yelp rating. Thanks for someone's tip for arriving early to avoid the crowd because this place did get super crowded when we came. They do take reservations though so if you're planning on coming during the weekend, definitively worth a call. The atmosphere is cute. Whenever I go on date nights I love to look for places with a cute comfy booth under dimmed light, and this place qualifies. As for the service, the the food we ordered came out relatively quick considering how crowded this place was. After the food came the service went downhill from there. No refill for water ever, and when I asked our server for lime, she said yes and left and never came back. We finished half of our food and then tried to make eye contact with a different server and he later on came back and said they had no more lime. Whhhat, no lime at a Mexican place? :( later on we asked for a to go box, and same thing happened, got done with our check and still no box, so we went up to the front and asked them before we left. The food was a little salty for both of us. But it's probably because I didn't eat much of the rice? It might have been better if there was lime maybe. The portions were large, and the price was reasonable ($8.25 for the al pastor burrito and $8.99 for enchiladas suizas). Overall, we didn't like it as much as the other reviewers, maybe it was an off day for us/them though?

Rarely do I give the coveted 5 stars for a review for a restaurant but Los Garcia definitely deserved it as it blew my socks off when we tried it the other day. Location: Its located right next to McNeils auto care and it looks empty from the outside but really it is a hidden disguise for the restaurant as it is usually very packed. They have sit down options and I would definitely recommend it. Tip: It does have a drive thru with only one window and usually they are very fast with their to go orders. Service: Excellent. This place is very family friendly as the patrons were welcomed by their first names and the staff really treated you like family. They sat us down on a table. They immediately brought the salsa and chips. They took down our orders right away as well. Food: The salsa and chips from the get go were not ordinary salsa and chips. The chips were seasoned with spices that give them a kick. And, the salsa was just not ordinary, it definitely had a kick to it besides the usual ingredients. I ordered the chicken burrito. Every order comes with bean and rice (even the bean and rice were yummy and were a delight). The chicken burrito itself was delicious. The chicken was well cooked, spiced up with some flavorings, and the ingredients in the burrito all tasted fresh. The dish came together as a very satisfying meal and this place is very authentic to its Mexican roots. I was very pleased with the quality of this restaurant because it doesn't seem much from the outside but thats the wonders of Yelp. Thank you for informing me of this place and I will definitely be coming back very soon.

Clean but small!!! The chicken on my tostada was very flavorful! My husband had a smothered chicken burrito. The chili verde was thin and not much on the burrito. Not a rich flavor. The restaurant was hot, couldn't feel the air conditioning and it was 95 degrees outside. I would eat here again just choose differently.

  • Sean M.

New to the area, was looking for some quick Mexican food. This is a sit down spot and the service exceeded my expectations by far. Attentive, gave us time and space, I'd go so far to even say our server was even kind! I got the torta. It was the size of my head. And delicious to boot. My better half had the fish tacos. They too were large portions and well seasoned to delicious perfection. We had leftovers. With piña refrescos the total came to ten bucks each. We'll be back!!

  • Deepika S.

We ordered the chicken burrito lunch special and the chicken chimichanga lunch special. The lunch specials come with burrito/enchilada/or chimichanga along with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and a drink for $7.54 including tax. The food was really good, if your looking for authentic Mexican food this is the pace to go. The staff is super friendly, and great prices. Also, you can order any lunch special, meaning if you want the Monday lunch special but you are there on a Wednesday they will let you order the Monday one.

  • Jeff W.

First impression was wow this place is packed. The word is out on this place and you need to arrive early. I got the burro all pastor on their recommendation. It was really good. Echilladas suizas was good too. The servings were very large and the prices low. Only problem was it took a bit to get a table. The food was reasonably quickly prepared though. The kids found the salsa for the chips too spicy. It was perfect for mom and dad though.

Another Yelp success story - thank you all for putting this place on the radar for me! We were in the mood for Mexican, and this was the one Yelp sent us to. Nailed it! First off, maybe it's kind of weird, but this restaurant has a positive vibe to it. We felt "at home" when we walked in, people all seemed happy, the employees / family all seem to genuinely enjoy working there. The food is fantastic, a step above other Mexican restaurants. They use good meat, the sauces are great, cheese is great, even the rice and beans are great. I can't say much more than everyone else has already said, but I hope this place breaks the curse of the location and stays for a long, long time.

  • K W.

Never have I been so misled by reviews. The salsa was watery. There was no lettuce or tomato with my burrito. The burrito was essentially flavorless but I know it had cheese because there was lots and lots and lots of grease on the plate. The service was exceedingly slow even though there was hardly anyone in the restaurant.

    (1)
  • Tiffany W.

This place is good! Don't be fooled by the location/appearance from the outside. The salsa is awesome and I am a major salsa critic, it has it all including just enough bite to leave you going back for more. The chips are not greasy and are the thin style. I love the rice, although it may be a bit too greasy for my preference but the flavor is great, and I will eat it again. The black beans have good flavor. This place is generous ..... as Mexican restaurants should be, so come hungry. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean (including the ladies room)! This place is a must try kinda place. Can't wait to bring my other peeps to eat here.

Our new favorite Mexican restaurant. The sauce on the chili rellano Is so flavorful. Chimichanga great, service friendly. The lady owner served us and it was a quiet Wednesday early. Calm, neutral colors on interior. Music in background, not too loud. Tuesday is busy, she said, with kids eat free night. One kid per patent. Wednesday their slow night, now my favorite night to go.

  • Paul W.

Perhaps the brilliance of this place is that they immediately lower your expectations. From the outdated, small, diner-like atmosphere to the white-bread granny and kid that ran the front, I wasn't expecting much in the way of authentic Mexican food. That was reinforced somewhat by the watery salsa and chips they brought at first. We were sure we were in for a disappointment when the salsa tasted like tomato soup. Luckily, we put aside our trepidations and ordered entrees, because the entrees were the best Mexican food I can ever remember having...and I lived in New Mexico for several years. My beef burro supreme was huge, but I still ate the whole thing. Get it smothered! You'll be glad you did. My girlfriend and her son also loved their meals. I would highly recommend this odd gem! Price was about $8 to $13 per person.

Try the Ceviche Tosada! Fresh, tangy and delish.

  • Brian K.

Temporarily no alcohol as they have recently moved, which was a big surprise to our group. My tamale was likely from frozen - was cold in the middle and very bland. Chicken enchilada was quite good. Others in our party thought food was average. Servers were friendly and competent.

  • Christy M.

Great as always. I love supporting little family owned spots like this. We live down the street and have watched this little place go from an awesome burger joint, to a not-so-awesome Beto's, and now to this crazy good Mexican place. I'm bummed to hear they're moving but am so happy they're doing well and I wish them nothing but luck at the new location. People, including myself, drive past this place all the time but don't judge a book by its cover. It's top notch, homemade Mexican food at its finest.

  • Tammie R.

We just ate lunch at their brand new location! Great new building. ...lots more seating.... cute decor. ...even a party room. ...same great owners and same great food! My personal favorite is the Thursday lunch special! But I've never had anything I didn't LOVE! YUMMY chili relienos...taco salads. ..tortas...street tacos.....sopas....I love it all! And the chips and Salsa are so fresh and delish!

Love this place. We just moved into our first house just around the corner from Los Garcia's and have been walking there every tuesday for their amazing shredded beef tacos. Los Garcia is a cute little family owned restaurant with a intimate vibe.

Update: they have moved. Don't look for an old convenience store. They are in a strip mall area now. Still great food. Same great service.

  • William S.

The good: big portions, nice woman owner/manager The bad: I got a large combo with a chili relleno, a taco, and a chimi and it was all extremely bland except for the chili relleno. The relleno was ok, but had extra plasticky skin so it was hard to cut a piece to eat without grabbing the whole chili. The shredded beef had the consistency of being overcooked in a crock pot, and the beef had little flavor. The beans had an odd flavor, like a foreign substance in them, or just 100% stale lard. The rice was ok. I can't believe the reviews of the Sandy restaurants. Nobody has any taste buds! I have gone down the list from top to bottom and have yet to find a place I will ever return to again, except the overpriced Royal India, Lone Star Taqueria occasionally, and Fratellis is ok when you're desperate for Utah Italian food that really doesn't exist. Especially if you're from NJ originally. I visited Portland recently, and you can't find a bad meal there no matter where you go. The food in Utah is pretty horrible. I have lived here for 20 years and am not loyal to one place. I cook at home now, and travel to eat real food out. I give up!

Not many vegetarian options but I got Sopes without the meat and they tasted quite well. The frijoles de olla had a good flavor. Glad to see they have churros and tres leches.

I wasn't looking for Mexican food when I hit Yelp this morning. Just looking for something new near the dealership in Sandy where I had to pick up my truck after servicing. I stumbled upon the Los Garcia reviews and ended up reading them all. And they're all dead on. This place is awesome. We got the guacamole, ceviche, and Smothered bean and cheese burrito. Everything was fantastic and you could tell they were using fresh ingredients. I plan to go back over and over to explore the menu deeper. They have a great selection. Something for everyone, I'm sure. After only one visit, it's too early for me to claim it's the best Mexican food in SLC, but I'll tell you right now that I can't name anything better.

  • Heather S.

Checked this place out before a Real Soccer game. It was great! Great service! My husband and I got the enchilada suiza and it was amazing!!! I don't know about the rest of the menu, but everyone there seemed to love what they had!! We'd definitely go there again and recommend to friends!

    (5)
  • Brent T.

Came in based on other yelp reviews and not at all disappointed. The place is smaller but I like that about it and it felt very warm and inviting. Service was wonderful better than I expected and better than most places. Food was great, I had to fajitas. I'll come back often!

  • Steven C.

Enchiladas Suizas. Chimichangas. Burritos. Friendly & Attentive Service. Local. Don't be fooled by its somewhat shabby exterior. The place is great. Staff was friendly and took the time to explain their most popular items. Our server offered and brought out pico de gallo for someone in our party who thought the salsa was a little spicy. She made sure we were well hydrated the whole time. She was personable and kind. She noted that they use breast meat for their chicken entrees. The food itself was tasty and hot. The prices were quite reasonable. For us, it was worth the drive to Sandy, and we will be back soon.

  • Julia K.

Great Mexican food can be difficult to locate. This place was delicious. Great service as well. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that the location is not clearly marked- there is no sign on the building. Other than that- great place!

    (4)
  • John P.

Okay so my family bought two large combinations plates, one with three chimichangas (which were amazing! ) and two burritos and a chile relleno (which weren't that great. We ordered take out and the wait time was reasonable and the chips snd salsa were great! I'll go back for thise again. Let's be real, the resaurant is a dive, but a pretty good dive. Price was good for the amount of food. the CHIMICHANGAS stole the show.

  • Michal H.

I LOVE Mexican food! I've had Mexican food all over the country and am usually disappointed - this was the exception! From the minute we walked in we were impressed. Quick seating, prompt but not pushy service, and most importantly awesome food. The chips and salsa had great flavor with the right amount of heat. My wife had the shredded beef chimichangas, while I had a beef taco and beef enchilada. Normally the beef had limited flavour and is overpowered by the condiments - not the case here, the beef had great, rich flavour and was a treat to eat. Just can't say enough good about this place, I'll be back for sure.

  • Bard E.

We just had dinner at their new location and it was just as good as usual. The new space is very attractive and much bigger. The service was excellent and the food was terrific. I am partial to the shrimp fajitas; they include mushrooms which adds a bit of deeper flavor. We will continue to visit Los Gracia whenever a yen for great Mexican food.

  • Esteban C.

Me and my wife are visiting from out of state and were in the mood for Mexican food. We were not disappointed. I had a chicken burrito and she had chicken chimichanga. The food had a great flavor. If I lived here, I'd probably make this my Mexican go-to.

  • Rick A.

We dropped by on a Tuesday based on the reviews. When we walked in I was a little hesitant based on the setup, but was quickly put at ease by the nice lady I am assuming was the owner. I proceeded to be blown away by the taste and selection of the food, not to mention the portion size for the price. I am used to great Mexican growing up in California, and this was good stuff. I have not left a tip that big in a long time...and if I didn't live across the ocean I would be eating here weekly!

Great Mexican food! Affordable and worth it. I had the chicken enchilada lunch special and loved it. The waiter was really nice too and brought us out churros at the end. Will come back.

Outstanding! I had a combination plate with chile relleno, ground beef enchilada, and a pork tamale. Flavor profile was fantastic. Great portions. Even the rice and beans stood out. Very nice staff, very friendly. Stand out item of the meal was the side of guacamole I ordered with the chips. Hands down, best guacamole I have had .....anywhere!

Very pleased with the food and the service. The waitress was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The salsa was delicious, though a little hot. The waitress brought out some pico de gallo to cool it down which helped quite a bit. The carne asada taco meat was crispy and flavorful on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken enchiladas suizas were pretty good and I was pleased with the rice and beans. I will definitely be going back!

  • Tara I.

The enchiladas suizas are my favorite. The owner runs this charming restaurant like you are at her home. Delicious food and good service. Stopped by for takeout on a Tuesday and the place was packed. I wish I could keep this our local secret.

Great Mexican food! Moved to Utah from California 2 years ago and I'm glad I found a restaurant run by a fellow San Diegan. The chile verde was excellent. The Chimichangas are a good portion and flavor. Will be coming back often.

  • Reeda W.

This place is worth the drive. I live clear across town and drive here for authentic Mexican food. There has not been any thing I've tried, that I haven't liked. My fav is the small combo with ground beef taco and chili relleano. The rice is delicious all on its own. So full of flavor! The only drawback to this place is they don't have a liquor license. I love to go there where they always treat me like family. They are always busy.

This place is so good. The owner is very kind and has made me special request nachos on a number of occasions. They have amazing beef and cheese on everything I have eaten. I have tried many things on the menu. Great place I am very glad they are so close.

  • Suzie M.

I have driven by several times a week and finally stopped to try it. I had the smothered burrito and it was great! The portions were huge. It took me three meals to finish it. The quality of the ingredients was high. My picky eater of a daughter actually enjoyed the chicken quesadillas. That is a huge accomplishment. She would love to return to have them again. The salsa was amazing and spicy. I look forward to trying many different meals on many other occasions. It is a smaller atmosphere so you will want to plan accordingly.I was surprised at how busy they still were at 2:30 in the afternoon. The service was my favorite part. Very friendly and very welcoming.I look forward to supporting this family restaurant in the future.

Cheap fast. Tasty food that is perfect for lunch. I've seen a lot of places fail at this location, first scone cutter then doughboyz. I think this will be the first to actually make it. Enchiladas suizas were delicious.

  • Shelbie S.

SO GOOD. First time here. The chile verde was delicious which is very hard to find in Utah. And the shredded beef was absolutely amazing. Salsa is on the spicy side but still incredible. I will definitely be returning.

  • Joni S.

We were in the area and once again, Yelp, Came through for us. Genuinely friendly and very clean. Tasty. Everything we ordered is really good. I personally recommend the shredded beef tacos and my husband seemed to enjoy his Carne Asada. Will def come again.

  • Callie R.

I love Mexican food. Love it! And this place delivers! The salsa is great and I know this sounds weird but their Coke mix is off the hook. They have great tacos, burritos and my brother lives off the chimichanga. If you are wondering what meat to choose I suggest the shredded beef. It melts in your mouth and is so flavorful, I have it in the smothered burrito. You can't not finish it. To end your meal try a church. My nephews beg for them!

Too legit to quit. I'm from San Diego and I'm Mexican so I know good Mexican food and this place cooks with fresh ingredients and from scratch unlike 95% of restaurants. If you haven't tried the arroz con leche or flan DO IT. Life changing. I'm hungry now, k bye.

Growing up in SoCal we had real deal Mexican food. This is the place if you want that kind of food, not TexMex but the real green chili and flavors of Mexico, you will not leave hungry.

Excellent Mexican food. I'm from the Bay Area in California and its fairly close to the Mexican food there. Anybody who has traveled know that Mexican food seems to vary from state to state. If you're in the mood for Mexican food I highly suggest stopping here.

Delicious and nuanced sauces. They pay attention to the small and large details. I love eating here for lunch; prices are reasonable, and portions are healthy. The carne asada torta is delicious; love that they have non-standard menu items available.

Best Mexican food I've had in a long time--$6 bucks for 4 good-sized amazingly marinated carnitas tacos? Yes please! Great salsa and attentive service--we will for sure keep coming back!

We had the Enchilada Suizas and the Smothered burrito. They were DELICIOUS! The service was great, atmosphere was pleasant with mexican music playing - but not too loudly. The food used fresh, high quality ingredients and it is plenty of food (both my husband and I couldnt finish our whole meals because we were so full)! Prices were reasonable and we definitely felt like we got our money worth. The sodas and the Horchata were perfect. This is a must if you love Mexican food and are also a fan of small local family owned restaurants.

Mexican food is a beautiful thing. I grew up in San Diego and didn't know how good I had it with so many great Mexican food places around. In recent years it seems like way too many below average Mexican restaurants are popping up in Salt Lake. Los Garcia IS NOT ONE OF THEM. Los Garcia is fantastic. They care about the food and you can absolutely taste it. It reminds me of the food in San Diego. Very friendly staff. Nothing to dislike

Amazing. I've been looking for a good Mexican restaurant to go to here and a friend of mine recommended here. I'm so glad that he did!! Fantastic food I got the combo plate, which is massive. So that I could try a variety of things and I'm not a chicken person but their chicken chimichanga was amazing I want to eat more but alas I have no more room. But that makes for amazing left overs.

My new favorite lunch place for Mexican food. Tons of choices and a clean place to go to. Tacos are 1.50, even for the shrimp ones. Mexican favorites made with care and skill. They have daily specials and are open from 10 to 9. Closed Sundays. I will have to go back to try their chile verde.

They've got lard. And they know how to use it. Yum. For these Southern California transplants, it has been hard to find what we consider good Mexican food out here. We may have finally found the place. Best carnitas we've ever had. They were actually moist and flavorful, with crispy edges. Really, really hard to find carnitas done this well. The chips were fresh and the service was fast and friendly. Only one thing that prompts us to take away one star is that the salsa, beans, beans and rice were all under-salted. Not a big deal, might have just been an off night in that department- but I loved the texture of the rice and- the beans were delicious after adding a little salt. The hubs was stoked to find lengua tacos on the menu- you know you've hit Mexican gold when they have lengua on the menu. lol. We'll be back!

Love love love this place! Had some friends come in from out of town and they wanted food they couldn't get back home. We decided Mexican food was the way to go! I'm glad we chose this place because it was so amazing! The food was delicious, I had the seafood quesadilla-yumm-O, and the portion size was large for the price! The staff was very friendly as well and made sure we were taken care of! I really liked the fact that the first person at our table to get their food was my 5 year old! Kids get anxious and it was great she got her food first! You can draw on the placemats and they will hang it on their wall as well. I will definitely be back again!

DO NOT be surprised if this restaurant ends up having the best Mexican food in the state of Utah. Fresh and home cooked, excellent salsa and nice portions. The best of comfort food in a smaller and basic dining room. Prices are Muy Bueno and portions are large. My family cannot get enough! The owners are present and friendly. Buy local and leave satisfied for sure! Recommend Los Garcia Highly!

Mini Tacos or Street Tacos were spot on. Order in increments of two. Carnitas and Carne Asada were tender and perfect. Burritos are good. Generous portions on the rice and beans. Nice staff/Owners. Easy access/parking.

To start out by saying that this was our first trip to this nice restaurant and we are planning on returning in the near future. My wife and I enjoyed the food and service. The food is priced well and the portions are large.

Fantastic food and great service. Can be a little surprising when you walk in since a family owned is very small. But the sheer volume of people eating there will tell you straight off that they have something good going on. Thanks for a great lunch!

I've only been here once, I got here because I really wanted chilaquiles with an egg, without even looking at the menu I asked for them but they didn't have them in the menu and offered to make them, The end result was good, I finished the whole plate, good flavor, it might not be the best but of what I had so far is definitely better than all the other Mexican food places, the salsas are really good, great service, very friendly, before me and my friend left the place we chatted a little with the cook and he seemed very passionate about cooking and using fresh ingredients. I will go back and try something from the menu.

We went as a party of 7, on Monday evening, and the food was great. The staff is friendly and the place is unpretentious. i had the Green Chilli Pork Stew which was delicious. Everyone raved about their meals and then we were pleasantly surprised when the bill came. Sadly they don"t have wine or beer, I wonder if you can BYOB or BYOW?

I'm from San Diego and was looking for authentic Mexican food. I was not disappointed - it is amazing. Chips and Salsa are delicious - my favorite Chimichanga was perfect. You will love this place! The owner is from San Diego too!!

Service was so much better at the old place. I feel when the original crew left, this place went down hill. I miss the feeling of home we use to get at the original Los. When you let the original 3 go I was so upset. In fact we stopped coming because the service was supbar after the young blonde boy, the funky young gal and to older women left. We tried the new place 3 times now and service was not good, very slow and not friendly. Food just isn't as good either. I hope the owner will take these new reviews into consideration. It's just not what it use to be.

Definitely a diamond in the rough. I've driven past many times and finally decided to give it a try after the great reviews on here. I'm glad I did, the food was delicious and the service was very friendly. Most authentic Mexican food on this end of the valley and the prices/portions are great. I'll definitely be going back and recommending this to others.

Great food, clean place, fast, and cheap. I came to try it out and I loved it. The staff was friendly and respectful. I had a chimichanga, my son had a burrito and my wife had flautas. It was all delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Great food! Family took us here once and I've been back 4 or 5 times. Salsa is EXCELLENT! Place isn't fancy, but it's very clean and that speaks volumes. Give it a shot! I've noticed it gets busy at lunch with the working crowd.

I had the smothered burrito. I don't get it. Individually tasted the rice was ok. The bean was ok. But when I ate it with the burrito it was so dang good. I was excited for each bite

I've been to Los Garcia for lunch 5 or 6 times now. Every time I go, I remind myself that I need to go more often. I've had the carnitas, chile verde burrito and my new favorite, the chile rellenos. The food's always been very good and the service is outstanding. They serve delicious chips and salsa - it's hard to find a quick, inexpensive Mexi place that still serves them - and they have a special salsa that's different from their standard red. Just ask for the "other" special salsa. ;) Angie and Tony are always so nice and friendly. The place is clean, casual and cooks up come very good Mexican food.

Yummmy! come hungry! I had the carne asada torta, and it was excellent. The carne asada was bigger strips and very flavorful. You have the options of fries on the side or rice and beans. I chose fries, and they were seasoned, yum. They also give you a huge bag of chips and salsa, and the salsa did not disappoint. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

WOW!!! I can't sing their praises highly enough!!! We went there for a late lunch based on the great Yelp reviews and thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish. It was 3:00 on a Tuesday and we were the only guests - lucky us as we were lavished with attention. This place is owned by a brother, who runs the kitchen, and sister who handles front of house. We were warmly greeted by the sister who immediately brought water, chips and salsa and shared with us the most popular menu items. After taking our orders she came back to let us know she had to leave for a bit to pick up her kids but her brother would take good care of us. She thoughtfully refilled our waters and left us with a full pitcher (love that)! Based on reviews I ordered a side of guacamole to start, their hot salsa (I always like to try the hot versions), and the chile relleno while my husband chose a shredded beef chimichanga with mole sauce. The salsas were fresh and flavorful with just the right amount of heat and the guacamole was lovely. Not only did the chef owner check on us several times, the food arrived quickly (but not so quickly that you felt it was sitting back there semi-made in advance) and was piping hot. I was halfway through my delicious meal when I realized I hadn't poured salsa over anything on my plate!!! I generally like to kick things up a notch with heat but the flavors were so spot-on it hadn't even occurred to me. I can't recall the last time that happened. The chile was large and very fresh and flavorful and the chimichanga could not have been improved upon. From the moist and flavorful beef filling to the fresh and crispy exterior...heavenly. As we were winding down with stuffed bellies the chef came out and we ended up having a wonderful conversation about the simplicity of Mexican cuisine (his words) when made with the freshest ingredients. He is an excellent chef and a warm, humble, and charming person. When his sister returned we spent quite some time in conversation and I literally felt like a VIP guest in her home. My husband and I have eaten at restaurants all over the country and abroad, from Michelin starred to great little dives. This is one of my favorite dining experiences. On a chilly day I felt the love in the air and love on the plate. What more could one ask for? We will be back early and often! Do not miss this little gem in Sandy, Utah. You won't be disappointed!!

My wife and I stopped by Los Garcia last night after a movie. We were looking for unique family run restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by our choice. The people there are extremely nice and eager to please. I ordered the enchiladas suizas and my wife had a single pork enchilada. The salsa and chips were wonderful as the salsa was freshly made. We never had to ask for refills as the wait staff came by frequently to ask if we needed more. The entrees were served very hot and were extremely good. The chicken in my enchilada was fresh and tender. The tomatillo sauce and cheese were wonderful. The rice was cooked to order and was perfect. We will definitely be returning. The prices are very reasonable.

Standard off the shelf Mexican food. Bland and uninspired. This place is way too overrated.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
