The first time I visited this restaurant, I was unsure of the quality being put out. After ordering the food, I realized why this restaurant is one of the best Hawaiian cuisines in the area. I got a chance to hear from the owner and felt his passion for the business. I would recommend this to anyone in the area based on the quality and the passion of the employees and staff. Definitely felt the passion of trying to make authentic Hawaiian cuisine.

This place is delicious. We had the mahi mahi and pulled pork and they were amazing. Very reasonably priced. The brown rice and cucumber salad were delicious. I would definitely recommend trying this place.

My boyfriend always raves about this place so I stopped by on my drive north. I just used the restroom and found a roach in the dirty bathroom. Decided to try the food anyway. Chix teriyaki not even "good".

Our St. George favorite. Right by DSU but the opposite direction from shopping -- still worth the quick jaunt over to visit this classic.

This lunch trip is on my way to antelope canyon. We were sick of fast food places so we found this Cute little place. Reasonable price for lunch plate. It is a Hawaiian place so don't expect much healthy food, however it is pretty authentic. It looks like the owners work here. Super friendly. It was pretty crowded during lunch. It took about 10 minutes to get our food, which is ok , seems like they make the food fresh. Ordered the chicken teriyaki and Hawaiian plate which consisted of chicken and pork. We ate all of it. Yummy. There is also a drive thru portion.

The meat is pretty cheap, just like most of these other types of places. But the service is great and the atmosphere is really fun. I recommend this place because the food is actually really good.

My love affair with Honolulu Grill started three years ago when I moved to St. George for school. My husband and I frequently find ourselves craving their food. The staff is so welcoming and helpful, and know my husband on a first name basis. I am a huge fan of the Katsu Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich. If you don't order the macaroni salad and rice with sauce on top you are missing out. I also love the shaved ice, especially when you add vanilla ice cream!

I was extremely excited to try this place out after my hike at Zion. It was located right near the hotel I stayed at too! And it's number one on yelp searches for places in St. George. The restaurant looked like a Mexican Taco Shop inside, a run of the mill. And the restrooms were quite dirty, glad I didn't see any roaches like others. Hoping the food would at least be good. I ordered the 3 meat combo with rice & macaroni salad which consisted of short rib, chicken katsu and teriyaki chicken. There was only one piece of short rib and extremely chewy. The chicken katsu didn't come with any sauce, so it was pretty much just fried chicken strips with barely any meat if any, just batter... Only decent thing was the teriyaki chicken which was somewhat bland, not as flavorful as I thought it would be, it was just missing something but it wasn't awful. The macaroni salad macaroni was over cooked. And for some reason the rice and sauce tasted like it was cooked it extremely dirty water or something, thought I was getting something from the sewage. I also tried a bit of my bf's chicken which instead of getting rice, he chose to get the noodles. Out of everything, the noodles and chicken teriyaki were the best part of the meal... I'm sorry.

Tried Katsu Chicken. It was ok, service was good, food smelled great. Personally didn't like it that much because it was dark meat, and I don't like dark meat. If it was white meat, I would have loved it. Not store's fault.

  • Shauna S.

They have a good variety of menu options and combo plates--kalua pork, mahimahi, teriyaki/bbq/curry/katsu/garlic/sesame chicken, short ribs, hamburgers, even spam! And brown or white rice, fried noodles, macaroni or garden salads, fries, eggs, etc. for side dishes. Many drinks, shave ice and desserts too. There is plenty of seating from small tanked to large booths. Friendly employees. Clean restaurant. Fun hawaiian music playing and several TVs. I like the decor. They cater!

    (4)
  • Isaac M.

They are in a great location, which is right by my house.. super convenient for me (lucky them lol). They've got a nice variety to choose from. Some of my favorites are: Loco Moco, Teri beef, garlic chicken. Happy to recently discover they now do malasadas too. The custard stuffed ones are the best! Good food and friendly staff. Family business. I recommend checking them out

As far as Hawaiian food in Utah goes, I like Honolulu Grill. The Chicken Katsu was a little dry but good. The Mini cucumber salad was just lovely. Service was pleasant. It seems like they have it together more or less.

  • Tess E.

The Hawaiian plate and cucumber salad is a must have! I love how fast the food comes out so I'm not having to manage my rowdy starving kids for too long. The employees are always super friendly and I can feel totally satisfied without blowing my diet!

    (4)
  • Jesse C.

My boss and I eat here all the time and they are always super friendly and I never leave hungry. Also the prices are reasonable considering they are giving you pretty much 3 servings :)

TL;DR: ambiance and menu selection is reminiscent of your typical Hawaiian plate lunch restaurant, but the flavor isn't there. Don't blame them since restaurants will typically change recipes to the local taste buds. Rating breakdown: + 1 star for friendliness Even though they were closing in about now 30 min, they let us dine in. + 2 stars for menu selection, ambiance, etc. They have your typical plate lunches plus some other items like manapua, and kim chee. I was amazed to see a restaurant in Utah setup like any other typical Hawaiian plate lunch restaurant, and they were playing island jams! It's almost like your in a L&Ls. -2 stars for lack of/completely off flavor I have to admit, I don't blame them. You tend to tailor recipes to your audience. Here in St. George, so far I have not seen a sriracha bottle or anything really spicy here. Mac salad: too much pepper. It kind of was watered down as well. Kalua pork: watered down. They did include cabbage and the pork was moist, so kudos for that. Teriyaki beef: I've never had a Hawaiian teri beef and rice drenched in sauce.

Definitely some of the best Hawaiian we have had! We've tried every place around where we live, in Salt Lake City. This place is as good or better than any place we ate when we were in Oahu. Oahu has papa oles on the north shore- the garlic chicken here is even better. Perfect amount of crisp and so flavorful! The Mac salad is very good and authentic. Definitely get "sauce" which is teriyaki sauce on your rice. Katsu chicken is always popular for the kids- and adults- my 3 kids loved it. Service was fast and food was fresh. We will definitely eat here when in town again! They just need to bring it up to salt lake

    (5)
  • Katie C.

First time trying Hawaiian cuisine and it was delicious! Cheap and tasty. If you're on the way to Zion national park, stop here for a quick but to eat and you won't be disappointed.

  • Andrea M.

We were in town from SLC and we heard this place was good. There are a bunch if places like this in Salt Lake so we were interested to compare them. We loved Honolulu Grill. The Kalula pork is SO moist and tender and very flavorful. The teriyaki chicken was delicious also. The teriyaki sauce has chunksa of pineapple in it. We also really loved the macaroni salad and the cucumber salad. Some of the chicken was a little dry but overall the food was delicious, the service was super fast and we would definitely come back.

    (4)
  • Clint P.

Bubu makes amazing Teriyaki chicken, and their cucumber salad is really good too!

  • Ben K.

I felt like I was in some Hawaiian neighborhood when I went to Honolulu Grill! The food was ono (delicious) and the staff was really friendly! The BBQ chicken and kalua pork was my favorite, just like home! The shave ice was real shave ice and not the mainland type "snocones"! Highly recommend this place!

  • Allyx A.

Husband and I totally LOVE THIS PLACE! Great food. Our favorite is the Teri beef and Terri chicken. And we ALWAYS order extra mac salad.. YUMM!!! I think I'm going to go get some right now!

  • Wayne N.

This place is excellent. It's a tad bit pricier than what I'd want to pay but that's well compensated by the sheer quantity of awesome food. I recommend the katsu and the short ribs. Katsu is perfectly crisp and the sauce on the side let's you adjust the taste. Short ribs are a bit fatty but well caramelized and gushes with flavor. Surprisingly the macaroni salad is amongst the best salads I've had anywhere, which really surprised me. Not sure how to describe the flavor profile but it's really refreshing and not cloying (which meshes well with the ribs and fried chicken). The kalua pork is so so in my book though, though I'm sure if you like pulled pork you'd like it.

  • Mark B.

Wasn't expecting much when I was invited to go with a friend for a casual business lunch. I went with the garlic chicken and the kalua pork. For a place that serves it's food in the foam containers, I wasn't expecting much. Now.... I think I may have found a default niche restaurant in St. George for those times that I can't decide. The chicken and the pork were very tender and in my opinion had just the right amount of flavoring. The rice/gravy and macaroni salad were a nice compliment as well. I need to try more of their dishes to bump it to a five star, but on first reactions, I'm very impressed and will definitely return for more.

Great burgers. The place was packed which attracted me in the first place. I figured it must be good, and it was.

Wonderful trip back to the Islands, food is just like what I had in Hawaii. Kalua Pork, and lomi salad. Excellent!

    (5)
  • Nate B.

Excellent Hawaiian food!! High quality meats, rice, and salads. Even the water is good. I highly recommend. My group tried almost all the meats: teriyaki beef, Kalua pork, katsu chicken, bbq chicken, garlic chicken. All were super tasty!

  • Jen L.

On our way back from Vegas and wanted something different. The smell of BBQ draws you in from the parking lot. We are trying this place for the first time & ordered the Honolulu burger with fries and the chicken teriyaki sandwich with the cucumber salad. They definitely have the flavor going on! My chicken sandwich was a little soggy and kept falling apart. One thing to note: we were asked which condiments we wanted on our sandwiches but not asked about sauces. My hubby hates mustard and there was a lot of it on his burger and I hate mayo and there was a lot of it on my sandwich. The cucumber salad wasn't my favorite and the fries were great!

    (4)
  • Chris B.

Really good food. I suggest the sesame chicken or the teriyaki chicken. The pork is great too. We've ordered catering from here for parties before. They are always accurate and on time. Good value in my opinion.

    (4)
  • Cambri V.

Good and fast service. Delicious food. Can't go wrong with garlic chicken and Kalua pork. Definitely get gravy on the rice! Mouth is watering as I write this!

    (5)
  • Christina D.

The food was pretty good and priced decently. They were out of the Laulau and Kalua Pork. :( There were a lot of open tables... But we had to wait for one to be wiped off. We did enjoy the food we ordered!

    (4)
  • Megan B.

I haven't had Honolulu Grill in over 5 years, since I moved to Arizona, but I still compare every Hawaiian restaurant to this amazing little place. Best Kalua pork I've had! I feel jipped when it doesn't come with cabbage now. They have a great cucumber salad as well. Everywhere here only serves macaroni salad as a side. I will definitely stop here whenever I'm in StG!

    (4)
  • Jayne F.

The teriyaki beef was delicious. I wasn't sure about the sauce on the rice, so they served it on the side. I'm glad because the sauce from the beef was just right. I also ordered a tossed salad which was fresh, with the sesame dressing on the side. I ordered the mini size, which was just the right size for me.

    (4)
  • Kolby T.

The service is good. I love their fries with katsu sauce. I usually get a Loco moco or curry. Spam musubi is good. I wish they had Coke instead of Pepsi... This place is great for a quick satisfying lunch. Big portions and a casual atmosphere. Overall I like it better than L&Ls.

    (5)
  • Annie J.

My friend and I were driving from Vegas to Zion and stopped by this place because it's #1 on Yelp. My friend ordered the teriyaki chicken and I got the only vegetarian option, the stir fry noodles. My friend thought the teriyaki was all right, and I thought the noodles were on the dry side - very clumpy. At least they had brown rice! The hot sauce they had didn't match the food - something like sriracha might be a better choice. The food was overall on the sweet side... I wish it had been a bit more balanced. Service was fantastic and the establishment is very clean. Just wish the food had been better!

  • Lyn M.

Worse service ever!!!!! If you love Hawaiian food.. DO NOT GO HERE! We ordered a loco moco burger and a side of cucumber salad. While everyone before AND after us got there food.. We waited 30 minutes! My boyfriend asked one of the clueless girls about our order and she just shrugged and said "oh it's one of the longest to make but it's coming up!" Honestly.. That is such a bull s&$@ lie. It does not take 30 minutes to make ONE burger and a side of already prepped cucumber salad!!!! Not to mention.. The girl at the cash register was not taking us seriously and proceeded to ask the next people in line what they wanted to order. The cashier laughed and said the burger has been sitting out on the side and no one has given it to us yet. I demanded my money back and finally she grabbed her manager who was the only nicest one to give me a refund and offer to comp our meal. But at that point.. We just wanted our money and get food somewhere else. There is no aloha spirit here. This is a fake Hawaiian restaurant run by college kids. If you want real Hawaiian food.. Go to POKE bowl. I would love to hear a response from the owner.

    (1)
  • Jim O.

I have to agree with the other reviewers, the food is too sweet. I asked for sauce on the side and my chicken was still covered in sweet bbq-teriyaki sauce. The chicken was real fatty too. Three stars because this is Utah. In Vegas or somewhere with a much larger population this would rate 1.5-2 stars.

    (3)
  • Crit N.

Every time I eat here I'm never disappointed. The sauce is excellent, the food is always filling in great portions for the price. The staff is always friendly and the dining area is very clean.

  • Alex C.

This place filled me up. Pretty quick too i ordered alot. This is my new spot for st. George-

    (5)
  • Randal S.

The food I had was good, no complaints there, but the desserts I ordered were either all gone or they no longer made them. Don't tease me like that. I am serious about my desserts. Bottom line is it's worth going, much more deserving than other chains int he area.

    (3)
  • Curtis O.

My wife and I always go here every time we are in StG. Their food is delicious and a must have when in StG. The prices are reasonable, the people are friendly, and you need to try the year round shaved ice. You really haven't lived until you've had a Polynesian cook you up some chicken. Yum!

    (5)
  • Clarissa C.

We just grabbed a couple of two meat plates and rice with sauce and everything was AMAZING!! We loved the BBQ chicken the most, and preferred the cucumber salad to the macaroni. Also the Hawaiian ice was so yummy with ice cream in the bottom. Service was super friendly AND fast. We will most definitely be going back! And telling everyone we know to go there.

    (5)
  • John S.

friendly and informative service by the young staff, friendly cook and owner. the short ribs are delicious, the sweet sauce with rice a good combo. it definitely satisfied my hunger. much better than the chain Hawaiian food places like L&L

    (4)
  • Lori M.

From having Hawaiian food in Hawaii this place is the closest I've ever tasted that has been "real Hawaiian"! I am not sure of this place is a chain or a family owned joint... What ever it is it's good food! Bbq chicken was nice and juicy. Teriyaki sauce actually has pineapple. Friendly service. Before I leave Utah I'm stopping my here one more time. It's pretty delicious.

    (5)
  • Traci E.

Yummy food with sizable portions. A family favorite, especially the katsu chicken, teriyaki beef, and Kalua pork. We enjoy both to eat in as well as get our food for carry out.

So delicious! Came her for my pre marathon meal and was so impressed, I took my family there the next day. The BBQ chicken and garlic chicken were so tastey. I definitely recommend to anyone.

Local grindz in St. George, Utah? Yes! After lunching at Chik-fil-A, I needed a good place for dinner. My Yelp app told me to go here; lots of positive reviews and I was craving some short ribs. This is the kind of set-up where you order at the counter and pick a booth to sit. The menu was extensive, with combos, bowls, manapua, Spam musubi, and even shaved ice. I ordered the short rib plate with brown rice, as well as manapua (aka siopao for the Pinoys) and one Spam musubi to go. The staff is very friendly and our drinks were refilled often; there is no soda fountain for you to get your own. I got four pieces of short ribs in my order and they weren't too fatty. I enjoyed them as well as my manapua, which I haven't had in a long time. There was also a side of cucumber salad with vinegar--just like my mom makes. The place was busy, but there were enough seats for everyone. If you find yourself in St. George and have a hankering for some Hawaiian, go here.

  • Melissa B.

We Yelped this place driving from Vegas to Zion. For the price, the service and serving size at this little joint was were spot on. Great flavor, friendly staff, and FAST! Check this place out if you're driving through. If you want a filling lunch, the half portion is a perfect size.

    (5)
  • Phil I.

Every dish here is great. You can get shave ice after your meal. Kalua pork is excellent. The Mac salad is also great. Katsu chicken or the Hawaiian plate are good choices.

From the first bite of the teriyaki beef I wanted to go with 5 stars. I lived on Maui as a teenager and that first bite transported me back to Haile Maile and my way too cool yin/yang Town&Country trunks. Seriously, all the flavors and textures I remembered were right there. And that is what good food can do, and that is why I really wanted to give it 5 stars. But they lost one star on the teri chicken. It tasted great but the texture was way off. I love thigh meat, and the meat they served was thigh, but its texure said it had been sitting around cooking way too long. You know, a little dry and somewhat stringy. This place also appears to family owned. That's huge for me. I am sick and tired of the big corporate slop houses with their chipper, flair covered, hipster duffus, kneel by your table waiters. I want real people cooking real food with real love! I don't want some everything to everyone, lab tested, focus grouped menu. The rest of the plate luch was great! a couple of scoops of rice and some mac salad really hit the spot. Prices are very reasonable. Portions were great. My son and I are musubi addicts, so we got a couple of those; perfect! How can you go wrong with Spam right? Spam; the other other white meat. A huge plus for me, Pepsi. I am so friggin sick of coke. I live in Vegas and my wife and I realized that you can't get a decent burger in Las Vegas at a place that has Pepsi. But I digress. Honolulu Grill is the best Hawaiian plate lunch stand that I have been to on the mainland. Lucky for us we have family in Cedar City so we will have plenty of reason to pass through and stop by. One last thing; They do Kareoke(sp?) on Friday night. The guy running it was really cool. Came to the table and told us we couldn't leave until someone sang. A complete none started for the wife. I'm still in therapy for the "Good Ship Lollipop" incident on the cruise. So it was up to our 16y/o son. He talked a big game, looked through the catalog and we ended up sneaking out with our tails between our legs. Whatever your name was, I promise next time we are there I will step up to the mic and make you proud. That's if my therapist gives me the okay

Had the BBQ chicken and kaluha pork, both were amazing. Truly authentic Hawaiian food cooked by truly Hawaiian people. The macaroni salad is fantastic.

Wait, where is St George Utah located? You're headed north on I-15 and drove through the gorge and a small part of the state of Arizona. Suddenly, you find yourself in Utah and in the city of St. George. Quick, get off the interstate and go to Honolulu Grill for lunch or dinner. I don't know how great Hawaiian food found its way to such a small town of mostly 'haoles' and generic food. I believe the owners are from Hawaii and their food is definitely 'da kine'. Hawaiian BBQ short-ribs are my favorite and they serve it with the traditional plate of steamed Japanese rice and macaroni salad. Their meat sauce is soooo good I ask for extra to pour over my rice. That's a big faux pas for an Asian like me who knows only non-local island folks do that to their rice! Oh, so embarrassing, but ASK FOR IT. You'll eat every morsel of rice on your plate! The place doesn't have much ambience, but the owners and staff have loads of aloha spirit. It's worth the stop during your road trip.

Delicious! Shaved ice took a bit long to get but the root beer with ice cream was worth the wait

    (4)
  • Jim F.

Driving back from Zion to Vegas, we had to stop here to eat. We love all things Hawaiian and, although Vegas is not our thing, we do love the strong connection to Hawaii. The place was clean and is your typical plate lunch style Hawaiian restaurant. If you've been to Hawaii, you know what I mean. All in all, a very yummy (if not healthy) meal. Very friendly service too!

  • Katie P.

If you love island fare as we do, you will LOVE Honolulu Grill! The cucumber salas is sooooo good! We also can't say enough about the hand made Honolulu burger and the chicken katsu. mmmmmmmm!!! They also serve up shave ice. When we're missing the Hawaiian islands...we eat here. It's REAL island fare! :) Maholo!

Found this place shortly after moving to St George in 2005. Having lived in Hawaii for five years, every once in a while I need a Hawaiian food fix. This place fits the bill. Local food served by Hawaiians. I love everything about the place. Good food, good people, good times. I always have to have the Teriyaki Beef with the cucumber salad. Go! You won't be disappointed. Karaoke night is a favorite time to visit. Friday nights at the 700 South location.

  • Pam P.

This is the kind of place where your entire being wants to order a second meal after you finish the first! And you would if your tummy could hold it all. It's the kind of meal where you ration out the last several bites slowly, because you never want the deliciousness to end. I had a 2-item combo with Kalua pork and BBQ chicken plus mac salad. At the first bite my reaction was "My God! Why have I never tried Hawaiian food before?! My GAWD!!" Unreal! The pork was so succulent, the chicken so lascivious, I felt a sinful sense of pure indulgence from the minute it passed my lips. Even the macaroni salad was perfection, a cut above ordinary! The staff was so friendly and positive that you just wanted to be in that atmosphere. The chef cheered with two raised fists when I said how amazing the meal was. These are real people who love pleasing and nourishing and nurturing others. What a true gem!

Oh my I love this place. Put the teriyaki sauce on the rice!!! It's Devine!!! Service is always great and super friendly. Have a frequent buyers card. Always getting POG. Yum!

I was passing through the area and visited this place based on a Yelp reviews. The food was edible, but not the 4 stars. I guess for a price it's a good McDonalds alternative, but nothing to sing praises about. I was expecting a bit more for a place with such high rankings, perhaps it's as good as it gets for St. George, Utah. The food was ok, but it seems like it was filled with too many fillers, sugar & salt. Definitely not a fan.

    (2)
  • Parker P.

We had heard good things about this diner. Unfortunately for us it didn't live up to our expectations. Ordered teriyaki chicken and got nothing close to the teriyaki chicken we have had in Hawaii. Sweet uninspiring concoction. Bummer!!!

  • Scott M.

Delicious hawaiian plate lunches, cooked perfectly. It's enough food to feed an army for next to nothing. Great cheap eats! We were there on our twin's birthday, and the staff gave them both free snow cones. The friendly staff, made the visit one of the highlights of our road trip.

  • Greg W.

Was vacationing out West, and found this place. We had been to Hawaii the previous year so were missing the great food. So we were very happy to find this place. Staff very friendly and helpful. Awesome food for a resonable price. Had the Hawaiian plate so got to sample a few things. The Kalua Pork was awesome, also the chicken , and rib lets were great as well. Wish they had the potato -macoroni salad I discovered on Kauaii, instead of just the regular macoroni salad that was just ok. but may have tasted better if it had been separated from the hot food. When we are in the area again , we will definately return.

A fantastic local jem. The food is excellent and the staff are super friendly. Try the BBQ chicken and Kalua pork! Love the huge portions of great food at a small price!

Great food and customer service at a cheap price. This place is awesome. I had the mix it up 3 choice combo with Teriyaki Beef, Kalua Pork, and Katsu Chicken. Everything was fantastic! The flavors were sweet and unique. I loved them! And all this and a drink for just over 10 bucks! Awesome!

We live in San Diego and enjoy the benefit of many good Hawaiian plate lunch restaurants to choose from... but we were very pleasantly surprised to find Honolulu Grill in St. George! I can definitely say that it holds it's own against any plate lunch restaurant we've eaten at. Also, it's run by (a family of?) Hawaiians, who are really nice- they came up to us three times to check if we were happy with our food and to chat. They have a truly authentic plate lunch: excellent sticky rice, tasty macaroni salad, and lots of options! We had the $5 special Katsu and BBQ chicken, both were very tender and flavorful. Now we have another great reason to stop in St. George when we are headed to the national parks!

Great Hawaiian comfort food! We live in st. George and eat here at least once a week EVERY week! Yes it is that good! Big selection and we have tried just about everything. Locals from the islands tell me they can't get this quality on the islands!

    (4)
  • Elizabeth H.

Oh soooo good. Took us back to the islands. Three of us shared 3 entres-BBQ chicken, ribs, and another kind of chicken. My favorite was the BBQ chicken. Rice with sauce was great, even liked the Mac salad, and I don't like anyone's but mine.

  • Jeff E.

Good interesting authentic food for those looking for real Hawaiian, which I guess is this. Great service and personal attention. Good value too.
