Great salsa. Had corn and little chunks of peppers in it. The chips seem to be homemade. Very large portions. I had the combo fajitas which were very good. It was so much food it could have easily fed two or even three people. The refried beans had great flavor and I don't normally like beans. The waitress was nice and checked on us several times. My only complaint is that they were out of all but one of the Mexican soda flavors and they had no desserts, even though they have four listed on the menu. Would definitely go again and hope for dessert. I really wanted the flan!

Cold chips, excellent salsa and no lunch specials. I had a chicken burrito, it was as big as my head, way too much for even a big guy like me to eat. The burito was warm not hot and the cheese not melted. Plenty of rice in the buritto too. The red sauce was bland and luke warm. For $9.95 I expect more!!

Best restaurant we've tried in Roosevelt since we moved here. There was no wait when we got there at 7:00 on Friday night, which is a perk of small town living I guess. The waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful while we decided what to eat. The chips and salsa were SO good! Like SO GOOD! I never wanted to stop eating them. My husband ordered chicken fajitas, which were okay. I got the carnitas plate, which was delicious! We were really pleased with the experience and think it will be our new place in town. My one complaint is that my 7 year olds hamburger and French fries was $9. That seemed incredibly steep and a little ridiculous.

We just moved here from Reno, NV where you can get good Mexican food around every corner. This is the best and most authentic Mexican food in town. The carne asada is on point!

Pleasant surprise for Roosevelt. Small restaurant, no frills, but the food is good. Prices are typcial for a sit-down style menu. We tried the carne asada fries, the fajitas and one item I forgot the name of. All were good, the last item was very small for the price though. Because we ordered it to go they put all the cold fixings like pico and actual mexican Crema (not sour cream, its better) in a separate container which I really appreciated. The server/hostess/cashier person has been different each time and both times they didn't fully understand the menu and had to ask the kitchen person for clarification which I found odd because it is a small menu. Roosevelt is a hard place to keep a business up and running and I hope Hugos is here to stay!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
