Super-liked their salad and their dessert pizza. They used fresh peaches for the 'peaches n' cream' ...at least I am almost sure. It was a HA-uge place with an accessible fountain drink station -- likey. Plus it's like the Toms of restaurant -- for every meal you purchase, another gets given to a person in Malawi. It's sort of worth the higher prices, right? (also the service was really great!)

Food is great. Prices suck. Worst part was at 4 pm there wasn't a single booth that hadn't been cleaned.

I'm a big fan of the Riverwoods, especially Provo Beach Resort. This draws me to Malawis on quite a few occasions. With that, I think Malawi's is a little overpriced. The pizza is decent, and they donate a penny for every pizza you by to people in Africa, but its not worth the money. The only thing that draws me to malawi's anymore is the dessert pizzas, and especially the peanut butter cup smore pizza. This thing is amazing, and makes me sick to my stomach because I eat too much every time. I love it. The rest of the pizzas are good, but its all about the dessert pizzas. If you are not ordering a dessert pizza then you are missing out on the good part of malawi's.

I don't mind the pizza here and it supports a great cause, but for what I pay here, I could get a lot more food at a sit down place. I was underwhelmed with the cinnamon sticks. Taste nasty. The food is flavorful but...you have to be careful what you get. Also...bring a duster because your pizza will probably have a good thick layer of flour on the bottom.

  • Makenzie L.

The pizza is really good. But the crust is really thin. And way expensive for the amount of food you end up getting. If you don't mind the expense then go for it cause it's really good. The desert pizzas are to die for, they are soo good.

I ate at Malawi's Pizza for the first time with some business associates. I loved that for every meal you buy, Malawi's Pizza will donate a nutritious meal to a child in Malawi, Africa. I loved the atmosphere; it was spacious and cool decor. We had the: BLT Wedge Gourmet Salad $8.95 - bacon, tomatoes, butter lettuce & ranch dressing with gorgonzola Primo Pepperoni Pizza $9.25 - pepperoni, mozzarella & fresh tomato sauce Barbecue Chicken Pizza $9.95 - BBQ chicken, onions, bacon & cilantro Island Retreat Pizza $9.95 - Canadian bacon, pineapple, & almonds The pizzas were thin crust and had great flavor. I would go back!

These guys know flavor. Everything we had popped with taste. We enjoyed the BLT pizza, Thai peanut pasta, southwestern chicken salad. I believe it was the sauces that really made each dish. Yum! Prices are a bit above average, but they deliver.

I've eaten about a dozen things on the menu here, and it's all been fantastic. Even the salads are amazing. Fresh and filling. Best boutique pizza in Utah, and it's not even close.

Get the cookie crumble dessert pizza. So flippin good.

Chocolate overload = sex on a plate. BBQ chicken pizza is bomb town too.

Tough to judge this place. It reminded me of California Pizza Kitchen except with a pita-like crust. On the whole, the toppings were fresh and flavorful, but I wasn't a huge fan of the crust. I get that it's probably healthy and all, but when I'm in the mood for pizza, I want a traditional pizza, not pita. If I want pita bread and something to accompany it, I'll head to a mediterranean place. Hence the dilemma. Where does this place fit into my culinary desires? I just don't see it. To be fair, my wife really enjoyed it. And like I said, the pizza I tried (Sante Fe) was very flavorful. Just wish the crust was a bit different.

Good selection of pizzas and well-executed, but a little pricey for what you get--and every time I've been here with a group, they've screwed up the order. Weird name. How people who thought the food was just good, that the place was a little dirty (which I didn't see), etc. can give the place 4 stars is beyond me. How someone can think this is awesome food is further beyond me than that. It's good pizza, perhaps even pretty good pizza, but it isn't amazing pizza.

  • Janey L.

Service is fine, but the pizza toppings aren't very good. I ordered the BLT pizza. Pre-cooked bacon. Cheap ranch. The toppings do not taste homemade, nor fresh, nor good quality. Whether they claim they are or not, they don't taste like it. The worst part is the crust. I'm a thin-crust fan, so the texture did not bother me, but the crust is extremely bland-- exTREMEly. You pretty much can't even taste the crust. I was sitting there, looking around at all the people (it was busy) and thinking, "These are the people that give bad reviews to P712 or SLAB and then come here and rave about THIS pizza." why. WHY!

Okay. It's been a few years and it's time to give you another star! I do love the thin crust wood fired pizza and in the very many times we have been in the service is easing back where I had remembered it. I think your pizzas are delish, I love your salads and I also adore your dessert pizzas. Well done. You deserved that additional star! All time favs for me are the Capri salad and the Capri pizza. I could live on those two items and never be sad again. My fam enjoys your pastas a lot. While I am an admittedly addicted to all forms of chocolate, the peaches and cream dessert pizza is refreshing and yummy. It's my favorite. There I said it. Not to worry, chocolate overload, I will give you another chance. It's just with the peaches and cream, I can walk out the door. The chocolate overload has put me into a food coma and then I am not much fun for the rest of the evening. Not to mention having to roll me out to the car. Yes, Malawi's, I am a fan.

For those times you can't decide if you want a pizza or a monstrous tostada there is Malawis. I've had soda crackers thicker than that crust. There's a decent pizza called the "Santa Fe" that is more tostada than pizza, but the others lean the other way. All I've tried have been good. Even the sample smores dessert pizza was good. The best part are all the "good cause" signs around me whilst I ingest a whole village's worth of calories. I do feel good about myself!

One of the best gluten free pizzas ive had in utah county. It was easy to reheat the following day and not too hard. When fresh it was yummy and big with flavor.

Fun place where I meet a friend halfway between my houes and her's. Thought the pizza was really good & like the thin crust and it being wood fired. Also enjoyed the dessert pizza too. My friend needs to eat Gluten Free and it's great that they have this option too.

Just not a fan of this places. A neat environment that seems promising but is disappointing in the end. A server is almost always hard to flag down which is frustrating even for a more casual restaurant feel like this. I would say the food is average. They cater to families and the environment is fun, but expensive for the quality and service.

Fun place to eat. Different than the usual pizza parlor. Loved the concept and love the food. We had several different pizzas including the pepperoni and a desert pizza or two. The peaches desert pizza was unique but very good. We chose to eat outside which was very nice. I like this place and will look for it upon our return to Provo.

So good. I have been a Brick oven loyalist for a long time but I would never choose Brick Oven over Malawis. The Mac and cheese is awesome and I highly recommend the chicken bacon ranch or southwestern pizza.

Great food and atmosphere with very friendly people I got a pizza and it wasn't what I had in mind so I told them and they changed it and gave me 1 for free. I love how they give a meal to a kid in Malawi Africa when you buy a meal. So cool

I used to love this place but they removed from their menu my two favorite pizzas and I stopped coming for that reason. They used to have a shrimp pizza and an all veggie. Both disappeared some time ago and I was told It was due to poor demand. It seems that most of their pizzas today are similar to the ones you can get from any of the big pizza places. I loved them because they offered different pizzas that you could not find anywhere else, not the case anymore

  • Chas M.

Toppings are great. Crust is bleh. I wanted to like this place, but its just not good. They have lots of great options, but I can't wrap my head around any of them with the gross overcooked crust. Not gonna come back.

  • Natasha N.

The pizza is pretty good and the pasta and salads are decent. My favorite part about this place is their dessert pizzas! It's a good place for large groups. You pay up front so it doesn't get confusing with a lot of people.

Short and sweet review. I've been here twice, liked it both times. Had the pepperoni pizza and the meats pizza. My wife got peperoni and a desert pizza. She loved the peaches desert pizza. Solid place, will be back.

  • Aimee G.

They offer pizza, pasta, and dessert pizzas. The pizza offerings are diverse and varied, everything from your usual toppings, to more healthy options, and even gluten free crust if you like. I love the pizza, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is great too. Of course the mission of the restaurant is another great reason to eat there. Not only will you have a great time, and great food, but you will actually be helping Malawi! This is truly one of our new favorite places to eat. After a great meal, it's nice to walk around a bit at the shops too.

We went here when they first opened and were impressed. More recently it seems like they are cutting back on the ingredients. Something had changed, not sure what. I don't understand the multiple complaints about the thin crust. It's like those comments were left by a thick crust competitor.

  • Britain B.

I came on a Saturday night, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was okay, a little crowded and dirty. The caprese pizza was an okay pizza. I enjoyed all of the marinated vegetables and the fresh mozzarella, but the honey wheat bread itself had a funky aftertaste. If they could do something about that crust, I'm sure it would be a much better pizza. The ginger beef salad on the other hand was excellent. The beef was chilled and well marinated as well, and the dressing really good. They used the same bread for the pizza on the side, which was a dissappointment. Next time, I will request the white pizza crust instead.

Decent pizza but really nothing special. I was disappointed that they didn't have half-priced pasta plates or something else for kids. I have been there twice now and I have not been that impressed. The last thing I ordered there was spaghetti and meatballs. There was so little sauce that I felt I was eating plain spaghetti.

  • Michelle G.

The atmosphere was pleasant and the food was pretty good. I liked the variety of pizza choices. After much contemplation and back and forth, I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza. While I didn't find anything amazing about this particular pizza, it was good. The Mac and Cheese pasta dish I ordered for my kids was pretty decent too. The biggest and best part of dining at Malawi's for me (and why I gave them 4 stars) is their gluten free options. Most of the members of my extended family have Celiac's Disease, and it's almost impossible to find a place we can all go out to together. Malawi's has now given us a new and great place to go together. We ordered a gluten free dessert pizza for everyone to share before we left and it was awesome. It's hard to find gluten free foods at a restaurant, but it's even harder to find gluten free foods that taste delicious and are affordable too. Way to go Malawi's for accomplishing the almost impossible.

Best Pizza in Utah county hands down. Yes, I've been to Pizzeria 712. Sorry I have to laugh at the negative reviews listed here. "I don't like it because it isn't Mexican food" and "I don't like it because it took the place of my old favorite restaurant". Uh..ok. These don't sound like reviews for Malawi's, but someone was in a bad mood. Great atmosphere, fresh and tasty grub. What more can you ask for.

Nothing special about this pizza. We went with a big group so it was nice that they had booths big enough to accommodate us. I wasn't impressed with the food at all.

i gotta admit that when i first saw this restaurant, i was confused. i thought "i didn't know they had pizza in malawi?" i get it now. took me a little bit, and i finally found someone to explain that one to me. anyway, to the food. since we were coming here to eat real quick before heading on a trip, i didn't get too adventurous with my ordering. i just got their pepperoni pizza, so i could share it with my kid. and i got their salad with caprese (don't remember the name). the pizza was pretty good, but my kid didn't take to it. i'm learning more and more that she has specific tastes, and she prefers thick crust on her pizza. one day, i will change her. oh! but the salad! it was soooo good. really fresh. really filling. really tasty! my husband ordered the pesto with chicken, and his was outstanding too. his dish was so good, i kept trying to dip my pizza into it. unfortunately, the table was so large i could barely reach. overall, we had a pretty good experience. the atmosphere was nice. the place was enormous and super clean and bright. staff was friendly and helpful, especially since they had 2 ordering stations and a giant new-to-us ordering system. i'm a big fan of their soda fountain too. ginger ale at a soda fountain speaks volumes to me. i do have one question: wouldn't one order equal to many meals for children in malawi?

My brother took me here when I was in town last month. He was convinced that the cheese was made out of breast milk. It does taste kind of funny, doesn't it? The pizza tasted fine though, and their desserts are pretty good.

Went to a GF meeting the other week and Malawi's brought over some great GF pizza. It tasted delicious and they even have desert pizza too. I would love to have this more often if it were any closer to us here in salt lake county. As it is, it will be a great date night adventure from time to time.

They have gluten free, honey wheat, and white crust. It's thin crust, and it literally comes out ready in like 5 minutes! This is the best pizza I've ever had

this place reminded me of a Disneyland cafeteria (not a fan of Disneyland)... it is very family friendly but it is just really unnecessarily big and the food is kind of gross.. the pizza crust seemed a little too pita bread-ish for my taste... anyways, most people would like this place i'm sure.. that is if you're into fast food in the form of pizza and pasta, lots of space and loud cafeteria style restaurants, then this is your place... not for me...

LOVED the pizza - disappointed with the salad. My second trip to Malawi's I ordered the full apple-berry salad. I think it was $10 and I was still starving when I was done. I thought it looked small when it was brought to the table, but I had never ordered a salad before. I asked to see what a full size looked like at the front to know for future reference and I was told "There really isn't much difference between the full and half size to be honest." Then WHY would I pay for a full size? I was (and obviously still am) annoyed that the cook behind the counter refused to just show me a typical full size amount of lettuce on a plate. She was rude. I am sad because this was the second time I went there that week, but now I don't want to go back because it's not worth feeling like a whiny customer if I am given the wrong dish. Stick to the pizzas and don't waste money on a tiny salad.....or was it a half size? I'll never know because they wouldn't show me.

Delicious pizzas and dessert pizzas. Great atmosphere. The prices are a little high, but it is really high quality food and they donate nutritious meals to people in need in Malawi. So, it's definitely worth it. I had a birthday party there and they gave me a free dessert pizza with berries on it. It was absolutely delicious and something I probably would not have tried on my own. Now, I always want to split a pizza with a couple friends or a hungry husband so I can still have dessert pizza too!

Unique and somewhat healthy pizza. Great interior design and details for a pizza place. The Santa Fe pizza was delicious. It had 3 kinds of bell pepper, chicken, avocado, southwestern sauce, etc. Apparently, they also donate a portion of the money earned to provide food for kids in Africa.

Malawi's was a pleasant surprise. My husband and I love pizza, and love to try new kinds whenever possible (after all, Dominos, Papa Johns, and Pizza Hut get old). We saw the sign when we were driving by the Riverwoods one day, and decided to give it a go. Malawi's Pizza has taken over the space that Magleby's used to occupy. It is a very large space, that can accommodate a lot of people. I don't ever see this place being completely full (not because it isn't good, but because it is huge). The decor is awesome. The owners clearly put a lot of thought (and money) into revamping the space to give it a very modern serengeti feel. They have a small art piece made from blown glass (which is one of my very favorite kinds of art). The ordering/paying process at Malawi's Pizza is set up similar to Noodles and Company or Pei Wei. There are huge menus at the front with a cashier. You order your food, they give you a number, you choose a table, put your number on the table, and they bring your food out to you. One of my favorite parts about this type of restaurant is that you don't have to linger around the counter waiting for you number to be called, but you also don't have to tip! Tipping isn't that big of a deal, but it always makes your trip to the restaurant 15-20 percent more expensive. Anytime I can save money...I'm all for it. The restaurant also has an open kitchen concept. Every step of the preparation can be watched. You can also see all the really fresh ingredients they use. I like restaurants like that because you know exactly what you are getting. The restaurant also really prides themselves on using fresh/healthy ingredients. Their menu states, "We are working hard to get you a HEALTHIER pizza. Wheat bread, vegetables, lowest fat cheeses and meats, roasted chicken, fresh tomatoes... We go easy on the toppings for the same reason but frankly, it makes a better tasting pizza, especially if you cook it in a spectacular wood burning stove." The menu is quite extensive. They have pizza, pasta, salads, and dessert pizzas. For each of those, they have signature items and create your own items. My husband and I both ordered pizza (after all it is called Malawi's Pizza). My husband ordered the Santa Fe signature pizza and I ordered the Primo Pepperoni traditional pizza. Both pizzas had a thin, crispy crust...which is common with wood burning ovens, and are about 10". The Santa Fe had a ton of toppings--lime salsa, southwestern chicken, black beans, green chile's, onions, tri-colored bell peppers, chipotle aioli, avocado, and tomato--(they lie when they say they go easy on the toppings), and was on a honey wheat crust. Everything on the pizza tasted really fresh and good. The Primo Pepperoni was more basic with just pepperoni on a white crust. The tomato sauce on the pizza was VERY fresh, and there was plenty of pepperoni. The one thing I will say is that the cheese was a little weird. It wasn't bad at all, but it also wasn't my favorite (maybe because it is low fat). Malawi's serves Coca-Cola products, which is what I like. I won't drink any Pepsi products. Next time I go, I would like to try the pasta--some of their signature pastas sounded really good, such as the Chicken Pepper (trotelli, alfredo, chicken, parmesan, and basil). Also, if you are into sweets, their dessert pizzas looked excellent. Just know that they are just as big. If I was on a date, I would order one pizza and one dessert pizza and that would be plenty of food (my husband and I did not finish our two pizzas...it was a lot of food). Finally, Malawi's Pizza is a company that gives back to the world. They claim that, "For every meal we sell, we will donate a nutritious meal to orphans in Malawi, Africa." Obviously, this is where they get the name. I really like companies that do things like this, and I try to support them whenever possible. Overall, I will definitely be returning to Malawi's PIzza. The pizza was good, the atmosphere was fun, and we helped someone in need.

I should start by saying that I am a GIANT pizza fan. Wait...I don't mean I am a fan of giant pizzas, although I love giant pizzas too. But I digress... What I mean to say is that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE pizza. And I'm usually not too hard to please, so take this review for what it is worth. I had the Chicken, Bacon, Ranch pizza and thoroughly enjoyed it. Granted, I have had better CBR pizzas (that is what we hardcore pizza fans call it...okay, that's probably not true, but for the sake of brevity, I will refer to it as such). The pizzas are thin crust, but not lacking in flavor. My wife had the Caesar salad which she too really enjoyed. Be forewarned: We went on a Saturday night and the place was buzzing (we were barely able to find a table). I will return...oh, yes...I will return.

I was so pissed when I found out we were going here for dinner; I was previously told we'd be eating Mexican. Yeah . . . I know! I'm not impressed by shmancy interior decorating. I go out to eat to . . . Wait for it . . . to EAT. How "cool" it looks inside has zero bearing on how good the food was or was not. My brother was enamored with how cool it was inside. That alone was making me sick. (sorry bro). Only girls care about decorating - not that there's anything wrong with girls. So the food was good. By good I mean not bad. By not bad I mean not terrible. The pizza is thin. I don't care for thin crust. I'm hungry, I need more than a cracker crust. We had the pesto w/chicken pizza. It was a menu item. It was good. Pasta was good, although I picked the wrong one. My sister's salads looked good and fresh. I'm sure people love this place. I don't. I would never chose to eat here. Quality is high, the place is clean - yada yada. It just doesn't do it for me.

Loved Malawi's! I got the Pesto Roasted Chicken pizza, and the hubs got the Safari. We both loved our pizzas. The thin crust is remarkable, and the pizza was packed with toppings and flavor. We ordered the Peaches and Cream dessert pizza and even after overeating we finished it off. Love Malawis will come here again.

  • Mark D.

Great pizza. I have four go-to pizzerias in town: Malawis, Slab, Terra Mia, and Nicolitalia...I love them all for different reasons. I don't know what some of these reviewers are talking about...if you just watch them make the pizza you can see its fresh. Tastes great and sorry folks - the 'bland crust' complainers...real pizza dough has a bit of a bite, and that's it. I grew up in NY and the ONLY fast food we had was six pizzerias...crust is not supposed to taste like much; it's the cheese, sauce, and toppings that make the flavor. Crust is mostly about texture - and Malawis does fine usually.

Word of warning. If they tell you they cancelled a credit card charge...double check your bank account in a couple days! I ordered a berries & cream dessert pizza (which I absolutely love) and then called in to change my order to make it two pizzas. They assured me that they had taken the charge for the first order off my credit card and I would only be charged for the second order. I even had my daughter ask them again when she picked up our pizzas (because we only purchase them occasionally due to limited funds and couldn't afford to be charged extra). Several days later I checked my bank account (and I'm glad I did!) and they had charged me for both orders and had not refunded the first one. I called in to speak with the manager about crediting the first order back and his tone made me feel like he thought I was a scam artist and was trying to pull something over on him. He told me that he would look for both charges and call me back after he found them. 4 hours later I had to call again because he hadn't called me back yet. He said he still hadn't found the second charge (I can only assume he hadn't found it because he stopped looking, based on the fact that he called me back ten minutes later to say he had found it). Unfortunately he called me back while I was driving home and I had to pull over to give him my credit card information again, after which I was told I "should" see it refunded to my account in a "couple days". If not I'm supposed to "call them back". I'm not thrilled with how this was handled. And, unfortunately, this will make me VERY hesitant to purchase from them again....sadly. The manager didn't even seem to care how much this put me out, both financially and my time to get it resolved. To bad too because if I was just rating the berries & cream dessert pizza, it would have gotten 5 stars.

5 stars for Malawis for the quality of their food, service, and mission. I have not yet been disappointed by any of their fire oven cooked pizzas or fresh salads. My wife and I come here often, and is one of our favorite eats of Utah Valley. We usually get a pizza each or pizza and salad to share. The restaurant is fun, with a tree inside to eat under, or you can pick a normal table or booth. The bathroom is way nice too by the way...for some that may be a bonus, who knows.

  • Ryan K.

I like this place. It is very clean and the service is quite fast. The quality of food is good. You can tell they use fresh ingredients for their pizzas and salads. The only reason I don't give it 5-stars is because of price. I dropped $16 for lunch. I would recommend the Thai peanut pizza and any of their salads.

  • Katy B.

This place has 'average' written all over it. Pizza was good - the ingredients seemed fresh, and the thin crust wasn't too chewy (though it was burned on the bottom). Dessert pizzas actually get 4 stars, particularly the banana brulée. Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Even though it was busy, the place was big and airy enough that it didn't feel crowded or noisy. Then again, I couldn't really tell what exact ambiance they were going for - the decor is Provo-fancy (cloth napkins!) and the prices are a little steep for what you get, but you order at the counter and they give you a number, and there's basketball on TV, soooo....whatever. I wouldn't go out of my way to choose to come back on my own, but if I was with friends and somebody else chose it, sure.

  • Mike N.

I have only had their pizza when they were catering during an event, but it was good enough to make me want to visit this location. Every pizza I tried (and I had 6 different kinds, so much for my diet) was excellent. The thin crust was consistent and delicious, just the right amount of crisp and sweet. The cheeses and sauces they used sang in harmony in my mouth. The dessert pizzas were also great. The berries they used were really fresh and juicy, and the chocolate overload was deceptively rich. I was skeptical a very thin crust pizza could taste so chocolatey and rich but boy was I wrong. The whole experience with Malawi's pizza was a good one, with great tasting oven fired pizza, friendly caterers, and the fact that they support a good cause.

  • Dave B.

Over the years Malawi's has fed me some good flavor combos on their "charitable" pizzas. Whether for dinner or dessert its been a good experience. My favorites have been the buffalo and the chicken bacon ranch. Portion sizes were fair and quality was never an issue. My last two times in, the pizzas have seemed more expensive. That would be ok if the quality hadn't decreased. The ingredients lacked the seasoning and flavor that I've enjoyed in the past. They definitely have reduced their pizza size and there may have been a price increase as well. $12 for a smallish pizza doesn't seem like a great value when I'm hungry afterwards. Looking on the bright side, maybe I'll get skinnier.

  • Connor R.

Really good wood fired pizza. What always shocks me about Malawis is how fast they make their pizza. And they make it from scratch. It's really clean there, and the big plus is that for every meal you buy there they donate a meal to the county of Malawi in Africa. Malawis is a definite must go, especially for the competitive price.

I really love this place but why have the sizes of the pizzas shrunk? The pizzas are all delicious and I have yet to try one that I am not a fan of. My wife agrees and especially loves their dessert pizzas. However, the prices have increased and the sizes have decreased which is unfortunate. Almost $12 for some of their pizzas! And for us foodies, they are personal pizzas for sure. The flavors and toppings are creative and delicious like I said before so while we do enjoy eating here, it has become less frequent. I feel like the bill is unfair for a non-sit down restaurant with no waiter service.

It's rare that I give a place 5 stars but this place is 100% deserving. I have been there many many times, tried many things from their menu and have never been disappointed! Excellent food! I love their natural ingredients, flavors and dishes! I will be back many more times in the future. The only reason I offer 4 stars is because I think it is priced a little more than it is worth to me.

The only reasons we (have) eat(en) here are: A) We are seeing a movie at the nearby theater (that isn't showing anywhere else), and we didn't plan ahead of time for dinner so we have to eat here because it's close Or B) we are at the Riverwoods doing other stuff and I get so hungry that husband MUST feed me before I go completely psycho and start overturning store displays while sobbing uncontrollably. So, I have been here a couple times. It's boring as the day is long, but it's passable as foodstuff. Everything is bland, and the fact that it's busy is just a testament to the fact that "family friendly" sells pretty well in Utah. I find that aspect infuriating since we don't have children and this joint is literally overrun with people's offspring. I don't generally have a problem with kids at restaurants, but this place is weird because that's actually who it is catered to. It isn't creative, it isn't particularly fresh, but it's not fully offensive, either. I can see why children like it here, but a child I am not. Grown women need grown woman food. Next time I'm going to Williams-Sonoma and eating all their free samples. See you there.

I'm a fan of Malawi's. Not the best pizza in the Valley (p12 in my opinion), but good enough to keep me coming back every 2 or 3 months (which is a lot for me. The fact that it's walking distance from my work is a bonus). I seem to always get the Capri or the Thai pizza. I generally try to try most of the menu for places I go to somewhat regularly, but those have kept me happy. Both are a fresher option to some of the heavier, but good options like Bbq chicken. The dessert pizzas are awesome too. Rarely get them because I normally only eat 4 or 5 of the slices. I always intend to save them for my wife, but usually they get eaten as an afternoon snack in my office.

Good but nothing to write home about. Portions are smaller than CPK but pizza is tasty. Salad was a bit disappointing but it's a pizza joint so I won't complain. This is a good place to take the family and there's family activities across the way which is nice for an outing.

Reasonable food, but way overpriced. Thin crust pizza is good, this is not that. It's a soggy tortilla for $10 and it's not filling. Had the Greek salad which was good but $10 and no protein included. If my meal total was $12 instead of $20 I would give 4/5 stars for a restaurant that you stand in line to order and leave hungry I was disappointed.

  • Danny W.

The pizza here is not amazing, but not bad either. I'd describe it as a local, casual version on CPK. Pizzas are fairly inexpensive, one could suffice for two people of not too hungry. It would be nice if they offered wine/beer, or hot tea, the only drinks they serve are the cold-sugary fountain type.

Let me warn all who enter that this restaurant falls into a category that is ever increasing in our society and fooling us into paying higher prices. Expect to pay sit-down prices even though this is not a sit down restaurant. I'm tired of these restaurants where you order at a counter, yet because someone brings the food to your table, they expect you to pay more and give a tip. Don't these people realize that Carl's Jr. has been doing this for years? I don't think that anyone after having their food walked to their table at CJ tells themselves, "Gee, what service, I wish they were charging me as much as a sit down restaurant, and please let me tip you for providing 1/100th the amount of service of a typical server." Now that I am somewhat off my soapbox, I am not typically a fan of fancy man's pizza. Fancy man's pizza is typically thin, overpriced, and served in a fancy setting that is a far cry from your traditional lower-class man's pizza parlor. This pizza fulfills all of these requirements but it stands out in one aspect: it is actually pretty good. The restaurant while fancy is certainly inviting and pleasant. There is a huge selection of fountain drinks, far more than typically found in most restaurants, and that I love. If it weren't sorta expensive it would probably be one of my favorite restaurants in Provo.

Pretty awesome pizza. I'm a sucker for just about anything with avocado, so I ordered a Santa Fe pizza. Pretty amazing food. I like the atmosphere as well. They have several large flat screen TVs, and when I was there, the NCAA tournament was going on. Sweet place to eat, good service, and very entertaining.

We are regulars here. The pizza is solid, but you don't feel too full after you eat it (not heavy on grease and cheese). The dessert pizzas with fruit are quite delicious.

Knowing something about the mission of Malawi's Pizza I wanted very much for this to be the best pizza in Utah. I was not disappointed per se but it also was not the best pizza I've had. My wife had the BBQ pizza and it was quite good. Not as good as Wasatch Pizza's but good. I had the Santa Fe and I am always excited about fusion type food. However, the Santa Fe didn't have the southwest flavors I was hoping for nor did it have the subtle Italian flavors either. The black beans and corn were bland without enough spice to liven them up. We also split the Berry Salad which was full of too large pieces of lettuce and not enough excitement to make up the difference. The S'mores Desert pizza was the star of the night. I am not a big fan of S'mores but my family is so we ordered the pizza. I finally tried a piece after the rest had finished. The nutella and peanut butter were decadently perfect and converted me over to the S'mores crowd. If you want to have a good night out, eat some good pizza, and support some great hearted people and a good cause then Malawi's will suit you nicely.

The pizza was great even the dessert pizza. Food was great. They had everything I would want in a restaurant, tv's, small cubed ice, big seating areas, a tree, and an open kitchen. The temperature was really cold which made it hard to settle in at first. The workers were great and helpful. However the manger (I'm assuming) was kinda pushy while taking our order. I mean c'mon it was a Tuesday night and we were the only ones in line. Oh well overall it was a 4. Eat here!!

Fun place where I meet a friend halfway between my houes and her's. Thought the pizza was really good & like the thin crust and it being wood fired. Also enjoyed the dessert pizza too. My friend needs to eat Gluten Free and it's great that they have this option too.

Fun place to eat. Different than the usual pizza parlor. Loved the concept and love the food. We had several different pizzas including the pepperoni and a desert pizza or two.

Just not a fan of this places. A neat environment that seems promising but is disappointing in the end. A server is almost always hard to flag down which is frustrating even for a more casual restaurant feel like this. I would say the food is average. They cater to families and the environment is fun, but expensive for the quality and service.

Toppings are great. Crust is bleh. I wanted to like this place, but its just not good. They have lots of great options, but I can't wrap my head around any of them with the gross overcooked crust. Not gonna come back.

The pizza is really good. But the crust is really thin. And way expensive for the amount of food you end up getting. If you don't mind the expense then go for it cause it's really good. The desert pizzas are to die for, they are soo good.

Really enjoy this place. The pizza is good, the dessert pizzas are great, and the fact that you're helping donate food to those in need just tops it all of. Go give it a try.

What more can you ask for.

i gotta admit that when i first saw this restaurant, i was confused. i thought "i didn't know they had pizza in malawi?" i get it now. took me a little bit, and i finally found someone to explain that one to me. anyway, to the food. since we were coming here to eat real quick before heading on a trip, i didn't get too adventurous with my ordering. i just got their pepperoni pizza, so i could share it with my kid. and i got their salad with caprese (don't remember the name). the pizza was pretty good, but my kid didn't take to it. i'm learning more and more that she has specific tastes, and she prefers thick crust on her pizza. one day, i will change her. oh! but the salad! it was soooo good. really fresh. really filling. really tasty! my husband ordered the pesto with chicken, and his was outstanding too. his dish was so good, i kept trying to dip my pizza into it. unfortunately, the table was so large i could barely reach. overall, we had a pretty good experience. the atmosphere was nice. the place was enormous and super clean and bright. staff was friendly and helpful, especially since they had 2 ordering stations and a giant new-to-us ordering system. i'm a big fan of their soda fountain too. ginger ale at a soda fountain speaks volumes to me. i do have one question: wouldn't one order equal to many meals for children in malawi?
