I'm a little perplexed at the negative reviews. No, it's not the greatest BBQ ever made, but it's definitely still adequate, and I've never had anything from Dickey's that I was displeased with. The brisket and pulled pork sandwiches are my favorite, served on buttered and toasted buns. As for sides, definitely get the onion ring things and the baked potato casserole. Service can be a bit on the slow side, but it has always been friendly, in my experience. Place makes me homesick for Texas, but scratches the BBQ itch as much as possible in the meantime.

I was bummed by this last Dickies trip we made. We came 45 mins before closing which is NOT bad at all. The three workers who was there (two guys and a girl) seemed miserable to be there. They honestly looked like they hated they job and they even made my mood go down. After we ordered, my busy baby knocked my side of Mac and cheese on the floor before I could even take. Bite. Good customer service would just replace it for another but they made me purchase another. And the complementary ice cream was what I was looking forward to afterwards but they emptied it before the store was closed! There wasn't any for us and that was a bummer also. I wouldn't choose to go back.

We came in Saturday night and the place is quite busy, both from dine ins and drive-thrus. They look like under staffed that night although they were still very friendly and accommodating and apologetic about the wait. Mixed feedback for me since my two-meat entree had a mix of dry brisket and moist chicken breast. Maybe I just got a bad slice, I'm not sure. They have a great number of fans though that night. Great for a quick, grab and go type of grub.

Very good bbq for chain restaurant. This style of bbq is familiar of Texas bbq. If you want to find a deal, come in Saturday night 15 minutes before closing and they will sell you left over food that they would be throwing away at closing for half price!

Average BBQ, or about what you'd expect from a chain place. I do like their pickles, but I wasn't really blown away by anything else (I've eaten here twice now). I really think their sauces are their best products--I love the spicy sauce--and they cater to Utah County by providing pretty good helpings (especially when you add the ice cream). But I didn't think their chopped brisket sandwich was as juicy or as flavorful as they claimed it would be, and their ribs weren't particularly hearty, fall-off-the-bone tender, or seasoned well.

I suspect the owner is a vegetarian. I have never been a to bbq place that failed so miserably at making bbq. It was expensive too, and then when I saw that tiny sandwich, I just laughed. When I had my first bite, I knew I had been scammed. What a terrible experience. I'm not kidding when I say that Costco bbq meat you cook in the microwave taste better.

I'm confused, I usually get the pulled pork or sliced brisket. On some occasions it is some of the best meat I have ever had, other times it's like only garbage meat you would feed to pigs!! Hit or miss with this place, today my meat was good but luckily I spotted the plastic in the meat before I ate it!!!!! Check my pic, it's plastic in the meat!!!

Very disappointed...this is coming from a true Texan that knows BBQ and also a fan of dickeys from when I lived in Texas and California. First off no tea was made of the sweet or I sweet variety when I placed my order and I didn't even get an I'm sorry that we don't have that today. I ordered in the drive thru which also blows my mind are the prices it was $12.00+ for a two meat plate which even in California which I ate at dickeys two weeks ago was 9.37 for a two meat plate. Then low and behold they didn't even put pickle and onions in the box they have me with no BBQ sauce either. So I are my dry turkey and sausage. Very poor dickeys, you are better than this. Step it up next time.

I'll admit that the meat wasn't too bad, but everything else was terrible. The sides were disgusting, and I'm someone who knows not to be picky about sides we you go to a BBQ place. The restaurant was not clean, and I was only one of 3 customers in there. I can handle a hole in the wall, I've been in several good hole in the wall BBQ places but this one was not worth it because they were pretending not to be. And don't fall for the "free ice cream" gimmick, their ice cream tastes like moldy ice. The prices are horrendous for what you get. This is the McDonalds of the BBQ world, don't waste your money.

I was at a Dickey's several years ago. It was a much more themed place and larger. However, I'm sure the BBQ was similar. It didn't leave enough of an impression for me to remember. I was there for lunch today and sprung for the 2 meat plate to get a feel for the quality of the BBQ. As others have noted, it is somewhat more expensive than the other places locally without an obvious increase in ingredient quality. Just like you would expect from a chain, there was nothing offensive, nor were there any standout items either. The Ribs were meaty with proper tooth. You could taste the smoke. However, like all chains they just slice rather than remove the membrane. However, it pulled off easily. It doesn't appear they use any rub, so you really need the BBQ sauce they have already added to give it flavor. Same thing with the brisket. It's all chopped up which is probably good because it's pretty dry and really needs the sauce. That's normal, but bad for calling it good BBQ. The jalapeno beans tasted like there was jalapeno in them, although it had almost none of the heat. Odd. People who read my reviews know that I constantly complain about too much sugar in casual dining restaurant food, so it's a surprise for me to say it needed more molasses and a bit more sweet. It just tasted flat as I got it. The fried onion things are industrially made and nothing special. The real horror is the ice cream. I love all ice cream, even the artificial stuff at McDonald's. However, this was inedible. It's the first time I've ever tossed a small cone because I could not finish it.

Disappointing first trip to Dickey's. We went about 7 in the evening, and so the brisket was dry and overcooked. The pork was also dry. And what respectful BBQ joint only has a two-meat combo? At least create a feast so the we can try everything. I told the manager I would try to go back another day for lunch so I could have some fresher meats, but I never made it. Also, a good BBQ place has good food throughout the day. Te good part of the meal was the size of the sides. They are much bigger than some far better places. And they were actually pretty good. The jalapeño beans were outstanding, as were the Fried Onion Tanglers. The baked potato casserole was good. I most likely won't be back. Still looking for good 'Que in Utah.

Wow. This food is good. The pulled pork was so moist. The BBQ sauce was full of flavor. The service was excellent. I tried them an hour after the lunch rush. I recommend Dickey's.

I went with some friends the other night. I got the ribs with green beans and BBQ beans. The ribs weren't that great, the green beans were awful but the BBQ beans were fantastic. My wife got a pulled pork sandwich and that was great which is why I this place gets 3 stars and not less.

I heard good things about this place but was not impressed. I order the "juicy" Texas chopped brisket but it was pretty dry. I also ordered the pork, which was fine but nothing to write home about. The sauces were too runny and seemed confused. I couldn't pick out what region they were from. It was overpriced for the quality. I paid about $11 for a 2 meat plate. My side of potatoes was okay, but the Mac and Cheese was the same quality of KFC Mac and Cheese. I will definitely keep looking for a better BBQ joint.

Dickey's is the first place that's ever said to me "help yourself to the free pickles". I wanted to get out a little before noon and beat the worst of the lunch crowd. I popped by and was disappointed by the lack of drive through, but ventured in nonetheless. The menu is colorful and easy to peruse. I asked for a sandwich named "big westerner" which isn't really an item ... one still picks his own meats. I went with chopped brisket (a signature item) and ham. I was intrigued by the spicy sausage, but couldn't order it; good sausage is really good, but most is meh. I did ask if I could get a taste though, and Mason was nice enough to supply. It was tasty, but a little greasy for me. I got a little cup of each sauce; original, sweet, and spicy; and a cup of jalapeno beans to go with the westerner. In making the sandwich, the roll was cut, rubbed on a butter wheel, and shoved in a toaster. Brisket was chopped, ham was sliced, and then tossed on the bread with some pickles, cheese, and onion (I guess that's the west's way). The bread was good, as was the brisket, but the ham was where the magic was. It was smokey and salty and good. I used each sauce in turn, and decided that I like the spicy best. The jalapeno beans were a little plain until I slathered them in some sauce too--that was a party. All in all, it was good. It was $9.20 for a sandwich and side. It wasn't a huge sandwich either, so a little more than I usually want to spend for lunch, but it's easy to forgive a ham.

Good food, good staff. Except when I went two out of three of the sauces were empty and the ice cream machine had no ice cream in it. Free ice cream (except when we don't refill it)! To top it off, the moist towelette that I used wasn't moist at all. That probably wasn't their fault, though.

I have a hard time with meat. I don't eat "junk meat" and I can't slurp down the fat. So it's got to be clean. My mother in-law brought Dickey's over last week. I was surprised how clean the shredded pork was. The mashed potatoes were very good. The BBQ sauces was very, very good. The BBQ beans were good. The mac and cheese was just weird. some people may like it. Maybe it's a southern thing. I'm not a big BBQ guy because of my whole "meat problem". However, I do love BBQ when it's good quality meat. I will try this place again and try to replicate my first experience.

It was ok. I like Goodwood better which is very close. I went once, haven't been back. The food was just ok, nothing jumped out at me. Prices seemed a little high for the value.

Let me first state that this was a drive-thru experience, not a sit down, dining one. After hearing great things about it from some of our friends that live in AF, we decided to pick up some grub for our journey back north. Two of us got sliced brisket sandwiches, one of us got a salad, and we also ordered 1 kids meal. As we pulled away, my wife noticed that BBQ sauce had spilled everywhere inside the bag. Oh well, these things happen. Upon further inspections (and now miles down the road), she realized there were no forks for the large and side salads, nor any napkins for the ginormous mess inside the bag. The sandwiches were okay, not great. Ironically, they needed some of the sauce that coated the inside of the take-out bag. According to the amount of food left over, the kids meal wasn't a hit, either. Once I pulled off the freeway to steal a couple of forks from an unsuspecting Del Taco, my wife said the salad was tasty...just not worth the hassle. I am in no hurry to go back. Especially with an In-N-Out so close by.

This place is simply amazing. $40 to feed a family of 5, 2 full satisfying dinners and a last leftover lunch. Needless to say we frequent the drivethru, which defies the stereotype. The sliced brisket is superb, the pulled pork is perfect and the fried okra is freaking outstanding! If you are looking for that southern, homestyle bbq touch, you will not be disappointed, especially for Orem. In my opinion, you won't find better in the area. Did I mention how wonderful the fried okra is? Honestly, where can you go to get fried okra these days? You just can't do it! So good.

I don't know why the West Valley location is not here. No doubt great BBQ meat, on Sunday they have kids eat free with an adult, love the brisket, rib is just ok.

This place is pretty good. Basically fast food BBQ. Probably won't go back. I would recommend the Smoking Apple if you want good BBQ in Utah County.

Worst experience ever! The place is a barbecue joint yet they never put any barbecue sauce on anything and when I called 5 minutes later they said they were closed but we could come back anytime for SAUCE! The sides were horrible, the potato casserole side was boxed stuff, the potato salad was mashed and it was also horrible, the fries were old. Over all it was horrible! Even doh it's less then 5 minutes away I won't be going back!

I'd heard about this place from a friend and after randomly driving around searching for dinner with the BF last night we decided to stop here. Upon entering we were overwhelmed with the smell of a smokey BBQ. It made my mouth water and I was looking forward to sinking my teeth into some delicious grub! We were disappointed and most likely will never return. Because of the prices we ended up splitting a two meat plate. Two choices of meat, a roll, and two sides for $10.99. We got brisket and ribs with waffle fries and jalapeno beans. We also ordered a side of fried okra. The brisket was moist and delicious, but after picking the first few pieces off the top we found that they had served us scraps! The ribs were delicious, moist and the meat fell right off the bones. The beans were disgusting! They tasted like poorly doctored up beans from a can and had that canned taste. We ordered the jalapeno beans, not the regular beans. They didn't have any spice so we asked if we could have a sample of the regular beans. They tasted exactly the same! We put our brisket scraps into the beans to give them a little more flavor, but they were still gross. The fries were good, but we saw them give a HUGE, overflowing portion to another table who ordered right before us and ours was tiny... So their portions are inconsistent. The fried okra was good, you can't really screw that up. We did ask for a side of ranch to dip it in though and their ranch tasted funky. No doubt it was bottled, but it was just gross. We ended up dipping the okra in BBQ sauce. I don't really know how to describe the roll. It had way too much salt on the top, but other than that it was good. It wasn't your typical roll, it was dense, yet not too heavy. They had a big jar of whole pickles at the condiment station, so I grabbed two. They were gross, the flavor was way off. I'm not sure if it was simply the pickles, or the fact that they had been sitting out all day unrefrigerated. They serve complimentary self-serve ice cream, if you can call it that. I ended up finishing mine, but the taste and texture was way off. I wouldn't recommend it. The employees were friendly and the restaurant was clean, but we won't be visiting again.

My family went to the Sundance resort for a weekend. On the drive there, we stopped in town for lunch. The choices looked grim, but we headed into Dickey's. A fantastic decision. The ordering system is simple and you get a plenty of food if you include the sides and free ice cream. I had the brisket and it was exactly what I wanted. I tasted the ribs that my dad ordered as well which were equally tasty. The side order of onion strips was also great and definitely made my meal that much more pleasant. One warning: there are quite a few flies (probably due to the molasses used in the BBQ sauce) though they aren't too bothersome. Overall a great place to stop if you are traveling.

Pretty good food, pretty good service. Problem is that they over charge you. Im not a BBQ guru though. I did like the free ice-cream machine that's just sitting there though. Great touch.

I ordered a pulled pork sandwhich through the drive through. The service was friendly and fast, however when I opened my bag I found they had seperatef the bbq sauce from my sandwhich. This would have been fine if I was ordering in. however because I wanted something on the go, this proved tedious. Once I stopped, I was able to enjoy my sandwhich :)
