If you're looking for a good hangover breakfast in Orem, Callie's is the spot. It's about what you'd expect and seems to cater to the country-western-camoflauge-shotgun crowd, but that's fine by me so long as those portions and prices don't go up any time soon. Per the recommendation of a buddy, I ordered 'Callies Killer Hashbrown' and it's pretty much exactly how it sounds. Hashbrowns loaded with sautéed onions, mushrooms, ham, bacon and sausage topped with cheese and gravy. My boyfriend though, won at breakfast when he ordered the Special "Chili Cheese Omelette." Not only was this a massive omelette it also had a favorable ration of chili to cheese to egg. There were in fact several globs of cheese and chili that I helped myself to over the course of our breakfasts. If you're looking for a grease bomb to sop up those bubble guts, or just get a beer with breakfast in the area, pop by Callies and get er' done.

I've watched Callies slowly go downhill for the past several years (I've been coming here for 7 years). It just doesn't have the friendly service I've come to expect. The food is still decent but just not as much fun. When I dine out it's great food + great service = got my money's worth. The math doesn't add up at Callie's anymore.

A Great place for good ol' diner food. If you show up at Callie's expecting a food network star to cook your food and Marissa Tomei to serve you. You need to turn around and leave because you came to the wrong place. During the early day Callie's is a great place for a good ol' fashion Cafe breakfast, get the Pitchers Mound with Garbage Hash browns and you will get your self biscuits covered in hash brown and gravy goodness. Highly recommended

The food and service at Callie's are both HORRIBLE!!! Everything I ate tasted pre-packaged (probably from a can) or at the very least, prepared days ahead of time. I can't think of a worse place to eat in Utah County than Callie's. The service was just as bad as the food. Our waitress looked and acted like the stereotypical waitress you see in the movies working behind the counter at some dive dinner at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere. She took our order and brought our food and that's about it. It looks like the kind of small town dive restaurant that I love, but without the delicious food and friendly service. Anyone with taste buds will stay the hell away from this place!

Oh. My. Goodness. I don't know where to start. How about with the story that helped me find Callie's. I was supposed to drive up to this restaurant that is about an hour away only because my friends raved about how incredible it is. However, on the way up there, I noticed that my car started making this horrible sound. We pulled off the freeway and saw that the plastic guarding the undercarriage of my car on the right front side had come loose and was completely shredded, scraping against my tire while I drove. We tried to pin it back long enough for us to get to a tire place so that we could get something to tie the piece of plastic back well enough to last for a bit. But when we got to the tire place and got the whole thing situated, I decided that I didn't want to drive all the way up to Bountiful with only a few zip ties holding that thing up, so we decided to go see how much it would cost to fix. After that, we were friggin' starving and decided to go some place local...and local we found. We ended up at this place called Callie's Cafe. I don't know what I was thinking. We walked in and a white board that said "Seat Yourselves" was positioned on a chair. We sat down at a booth that looked like it was made in 1963 at the latest. Two tvs in the restaurant aired "Great American Country". Our waitress donned a tattoo on her hand - a coyote in front of a full moon. She was a pretty cool chic, and that's pretty much where any "pretty cool" moments end. I ordered the grilled roast beef on sourdough, thinking that it wouldn't be an entree soaked in grease - I was wrong. This thing was lathered in grease, and the french fries looked like they were cooked in 10 year-old grease....sick. static.px.yelp.com/photo… I thought that I could make the french fries a little more edible by patting them down with a napkin - 8 napkins later and my plate was still covered with nasty, grease-soaked fries. I thought the fries would taste better with a little bit of ketchup, but unfortunately the ketchup had fermented - I actually thought someone had poured cheap wine into the bottle for a second...friggin' nasty. ***Here's me with my lovely food! static.px.yelp.com/photo… I was hoping that this place might be a little gem, but unfortunately it was a bad dream. The decor was very much country, with a wood carving of The Duke and a cowgirl's butt on the wall. There was also this creepy plant holder that was the shape of a small child in overalls - the plant looked like the neck and head. Yikes. Oh! One more thing...the menu cover was so redneck! It's a drawing of this guy wearing a hat belonging to Jed Clampett with his dog by his side, shooting a duck in the air. How awesome is that?! I'll never go back...ever. I wish that it was better, but it wasn't. Just walk next door to Apollo Burger - it's cheaper, faster, and better better better.

This place is an example of local color, where the food and experience is one of a kind. Karaoke singers are not very good here and the couple of times I went the local regulars were in full bloom. The waitresses also sing and they are not very good either. There is a cover charge. You must order a meal in order not to be assessed $4.00 karaoke cover charge. Old farts at this place. Definitely not young person's place. Diner food. But having grown up in New Jersey, where real diner food is available, from a Greek family, I can tell you this is not a real diner. Cash only. But if you're from back east, that is familiar for a place like this. No big deal.

I am a bit surprised by the low reviews from other Yelpers--my experience was a pure joy from start to finish. But to each their own. Came in on a Sunday morning before my buddy's wedding party, so I was looking for a hearty meal to hold me over 'til dinnertime. Callie's delivered. Ordered a Chili Cheese Omelette (it was one of the daily specials that day) w/Hash Browns & a Biscuit as my toast option. It was awesome. All of it. The omelette had the right balance between eggs and chili/cheese, the hash browns were perfectly crunchy, and the biscuit was killer. Yo their butter is awesome too! Creamy and salty. Oooeee. The rest of my group (three others) all ordered solid meals too, but I clearly won breakfast. Again. On top of everything else, our server was a sweetheart. She was very outgoing and quick to answer questions and help out with anything. Plus the prices are on point. $6 for my meal. Ahh I miss the Utah prices!

We walked in and it's seat yourself. The theme inside was a pleasant western theme - the counter area is constructed from a nice wood, pictures of animals, cow girls and the Rockies litter the walls. For the most part the tables were clean but the restaurant wasn't busy at all so I would honestly expect all the tables to be bust and ready to use. My wife ordered today's special - a Tuna melt and I tried the club sandwich. The Tuna melt I would give 1 star. It looked and tasted just like a plain, cheap tuna sandwich. Also the cheese inside was cheap processed cheese. I would recommend never wasting your money on this since you could easily make something at home alot better at a better price. The club sandwich was actually pretty good. I'd give it 4 stars. Things of note about their menu. They nickel and dime you. For example, if you want fry sauce with your fries, that'll cost you 25 cents. You are only allowed 1 refill on your fountain drink. Anyone who's been involved with purchasing the supplies for fountain drinks knows that they are really cheap. Even though I rarely have more than a single refill seeing them limit them is a little off putting. The service was pretty good. However since we were some of the only people there I wonder what it would be like during busier hours. Especially since our waiter was also our cook. Bottom line: Food is ok. Service was good. Kinda dirty.

The portions on their breakfast plates are massive! Very good tasting food, place is just like grandma's old trailer park, so if you want tea and crumpets with your meal eat somewhere else

Walking in the place was a seat your self. So we walked around looking for a table which most were empty but all of them were dirty. We found a table by the door that was clean so we sat down. I waited for the waitress to bring us a menu and made eye contact with the bus girl 5 times which she wasn't doing anything so she could have brought us a menu. After about 2 minutes of no menus we had to get up and ask for menus. Our waitress finally came and told us that she was the only one working which is fine if she is busy but her bus girl needs to help her a little more. The waitress was really friendly and helpful with our questions. The food was really good. I had the chicken fingers which were awesome! All and all I would go back there.

I went there with certain expectations and got just that! I loved the diner type atmosphere and the waitress was so cool and down to earth. The killer hash browns are amazing!! The pancakes are fluffy, moist and delicious! Great low price for the quality and quantity! I definitely recommend for breakfast over most other breakfast joints!

The food was delicious, but the place is a little dirty. I would have enjoyed the meal more if the place we're cleaned up a bit.

Wow this place is bad. So I walk in on my way to look trying to get a breakfast fix. place is disgusting most tables are filthy and place is just dirty but I'm in a hurry so I'll deal with it. Order a togo order and this takes 30 minutes so now I'm late for work and get my food and leave. on a positive not the do take credit cards now. I get to work open my food none of the meat is in there so my box has egg and hash brown which are bland no bacon no sausage. There is nothing worse then having your order missing any and all flavor. Will I go back? Nope I just want to know why there seems to only be one good breakfast stop in this town.

Really great breakfast food. I recommend the sausage links or the biscuits staff is friendly enough but incredibly slow. Watching my food sit under a heat lamp as the staff stand around talking to each other. Good homestyle food. Poor service

Visited for breakfast today on the weight of some seriously misguided reviews here about Callie's Cafe. Their coffee was awful. It was Coffee Bean Tea, no more, no less. It had no body or charm of any kind to it! The Denver omelet i tried was only okay, but the hash browns were boiled potatoes, fried on the grill only on one side. Maybe they needed to bring some gravy out to go with the boiled potatoes drenched in grease below the fried topside. The initial presentation looked fine, just like how good advertising executives make a plate look before taking a beautiful picture of it to put in an ad, that is then placed in some print media or internet ad somewhere. It's just that when you lift the top off, then truth is revealed. I'll give 1 star here as the waitress tried really hard to make it right for me, including brewing another pot of coffee. But on the whole, 1 star is gratuitous. The new pot was at least drinkable where she had used 2 of the pre-measured packets of grounds to make it, but I'll not pay what I had to at this restaurant for a cup of coffee again.

Was hoping for a hole-in-the-wall diner gem. Not quite. The service was friendly and to the point, you know, the smokers-voice type ladies that I quite like about a diner. Kind of a cluttery atmosphere if you seat yourself to the right of the door, next time (there won't be a next time) I'll choose left. Not really a family-friendly place. Kind of dark, more like a bar-diner. If the food had been good enough, I would come without the kiddos. Food: Hashbrowns were pretty good. I like an almost equal ratio to a crispy shred vs. a soft shred of hashbrown. This one was almost there, I've had worse, so I was good with these. The sourdough toast was good, but not with margarine. My over-medium eggs had clear runny whites. The biscuits on my biscuits and gravy were a grainy, weird texture. The gravy didn't seem homemade and was bland. The sausage was okay, but not my type. The orange juice was watered down. I mean, you could tell even visually, without tasting it, that it was watered down. We regretted not going down the street to Joe's Cafe, the only place with DDD-worthy diner food in Utah County.

This is total hole in the wall joint. The crowd seems to be mostly older regulars, which is awesome. They were great at refilling my coffee regularly and the Callie's Killer Hash browns was delicious.

This is local flavor at it's best. Cross generational...and you'll see every type clientele imaginable. The food is hearty and local....coming from D.C., it's an interesting change. Delightful waitresses who were pleasant and helpful. We inhaled our food. We came for breakfast after it was recommended to us by the wait staff at Chef's Table last night. The sausage was absolutely delicious. We loved the sourdough break and french toast.

The food was good (nothing special) and large portions. They seem to have chosen quantity over quality. The service was great, though we took our toddler and the place isn't very family friendly. The main reason I won't go back is because they accept cash only. It's 2013 and I don't like having to use an ATM, they should have at least have signs posted in obvious locations.

Not a family friendly restaurant. I went to Callie's after purchasing a Groupon. It looked like a cute place to go with the whole family on a Saturday morning. NOT! Pin up calendars and a cowgirl's rear end to stare at while eating breakfast does not help my appetite. (I'm not that kind of girl) Wait staff did their job...nothing more. I got oatmeal. It was good. Tasted my husband's biscuits and gravy...not so good. He didn't eat it all and I didn't want to finish it for him. Pancakes were fine...but you have to be really bad to ruin pancakes. Cash only establishment is inconvenient. I would say it is not worth it... Denny's is better... IHOP even better!

Well that previous review was rather elaborate... I've never eaten anything but breakfast here so that is what's being rated. Not the build quality of the booths, the waitresses with tattoos, or otherwise. The FOOD. If you want a good café style breakfast, this is a great place. Bacon is thick, hashbrowns are perfect (except for my last visit) I always get the french toast. Always good.
