I really like this place. Good service, hearty servings and great prices. The dinners are great. Most of them include soup or salad, toast, entree and ice cream for dessert. The only problem I have with this place is my hair always smells like a fried food when I live there. Oh well, its the price I will pay.

You have a pretty good old school diner menu and feel, and for the most part it all is pretty tasty. You've got a good location with a pretty good business crowd for a customer base. Your biggest problem is your staff. From the top down. It is not that they give bad service, but it is the palpable discontent that the employees , and owner have for each other and for the environment in which they work. They don't even fein any enthusiasm that you've decided to visit them and spend money at their business. Nothing else matters if customers don't feel welcome in your restaurant.

Love the one in Erda, but this one is bad. Very slow service when it's not even busy. Waitress looked like a skunk bit her, we did not feel comfortable at all. Food was not bad but we will not come back.

This place is filthy and the customer service is horrible. The owner is a self righteous filthy dirty slum lord. Ogden would be better off without this debacle of a restaurant

I'm a huge breakfast lover and I was so excited when the old Winger's turned into this All Day Breakfast Diner. Virg's is cheap, fast, and gives you a ton of food. But there are two reasons why I haven't been back: 1) The food made me incredibly sick. I'm fairly certain it was the heavy amounts of grease that upset my stomach, not food poisoning so that's a bonus. But either way, I was sick all day. 2) My waitress brought me out a scramble when I had ordered a skillet. I told her, "Oh, I ordered a skillet, but that's fine. I will still eat that." And she replied with a snarky tone, "No you didn't. You ordered the scramble." Ummmmm, okay. When my waitress left I asked my table if I had somehow made a mistake and ordered the scramble and everyone remembered me ordering a skillet. But regardless, I was shocked by the attitude. She was young and had mentioned she was new, I wouldn't be surprised if she has already quit or been fired. Hopefully the service has improved. Anyway, I've only been here twice and both times for breakfast. My husband loves their breakfast burritos (I believe it was chili verde) so I will probably be back one day... but I'm currently avoiding it at all costs. Their lunch menu also looked good - greasy, but good. Maybe one day I will give that a try. I will update my review if I experience better food and service.

Thought we would stop for a good breakfast, as friends had recommended this place! Upon arrival it appeared there were only two waitresses? Didn't know if we needed to sit ourselves or wait? It only got worse, finally was seated, waited 10 min., no service!! On to Karen's!!

Very good food. Real potatoes for the hash browns, not frozen potatoes. Portions are huge and the food is fresh and tastes very homemade. Recommend breakfast here!

I've been needing to go to the hospital weekly. Virg's was right around the corner. At home I had two coupons, "Buy a meal and get the second meal free". But we went anyway. I've seen the so-so reviews on other dining sights, but I like to check things out myself. Yes, the menu was too busy. I think they should cut way back on their Mexican menu. But they make it seem fish and chips were a specialty, I haven't had much of an appetite and the person who drove me is already 60. But we both ordered off the kids menu. Mine was a piece of halibut and a HUGE side of fries that they slice right when ordered. They had all the condiments I needed, malt vinegar, tarter sauce which was homemade and cocktail sauce. Hopefully this week I'll remember to bring in my coupon. LOL I saw lots of things I'd like to try. We'll be back!

First time in . . . Ugh! Everything was sticky. You sit where ever you like so I did. I waited for 10 minutes before anyone asked me if I had been helped. When I was asked, the server said she would be right back. It took another 5 minutes and the server said they could get my drink order and be right back with it. After 25 minutes From my arrival I finally got a cup of coffee. I left payment on the table for the coffee and walked out. Never going back!

Service is good. Portions are LARGE. Everything is good. The interior is a little rinky dink but its a diner. Food wise though you get well more than you pay for.

How do you mess up breakfast, especially pancakes? Unquestionably the worst breakfast food I've ever had. The only semi-decent part was the unique thin, fry-like hash browns, but that's where it ends. Just can't get past the terrible flavor of the pancakes, it now haunts me.

Worste restaurant I have ever eaten at. Food is not good and it's greasy, over seasoned and coffee was just nasty. No taste what so ever. I'm definatly not going there again.

A long time ago they had good food and much better service, being from Tooele I did at one time like them at one time. Now I Run at their name anyone who likes good food and service say far far away. They use very cheap meats that equals fatty fatty fatty. Sadly I will NEVER gp there again.

Virg's is a long time favorite of people in Salt Lake and they have now opened a new location in the former "Winger's" diner building on Harrison. Famous for their fish and chips, Virg's is also known for their breakfast. We had a chance to try out their BF menu and it was impressive. Let me begin with a warning. Virg's is about BIG portions of traditional American food. When I mean big, I mean B I G. I did a half order of one dish and couldn't finish half of it. The scones were the size of a frisbee. The pancake would cover a softball without issue. The whole meal was simply enormous. The overall quality wasn't amazing but it was definitely good. I enjoyed all my food and was pleased with the service as well. I prefer Karen's downtown because the portions are more manageable and I like the atmosphere of 25th Street. However, I would definitely make Virg's a choice if I want a nice big breakfast and I need to stay east.

We visited Virg's probably on their first week open. The wait staff was super slow, didn't check on us often and it took then probably close to an hour to even get us our food even though we were the only diners. That was the only time we will ever go. Hopefully they have improved but I highly doubt it.

I'm a huge breakfast junkie! I got the 1 cake, 1 egg & 2 bacon. YUMMMMM! Ordered the bacon crispy and it was perfect. Not easy to accomplish most places. Loved that the egg was scrambled flat like an omelet. Easier for me to eat. Pancake feel apart a little when cutting up, otherwise it is delish. Our server, Dana, was amazing. Not easy to say for most visits here.

I dined at Virg's last night with a group of 15 friends. The service was prompt and accurate. The interior of the restaurant is fine. The meals portions served were very large except for the fish. None in our group had any bad comments at all. Do not understand the one star ratings. I recommend anyone to dine there.

I ordered cheese enchiladas that didn't end up having any cheese melted in the middle. It's a nice dinerish place, but don't expect too much.

I don't like to write bad reviews, but this place was so awful I wouldn't even give them one star. It was our first time here and we were told when we walked in to seat ourselves and the waitstaff would bring us our menus. We sat in a semi-busy area and sat at our booth for 25 MINUTES before I finally got up and got our own menus and silverware. During that 25 minutes 2 different waitresses walked by, looked at our menu-less table and essentially ignored our existence. Also during that 25 minutes, the surrounding tables all got their food and checks and left. Those tables were then filled with new parties and they all promptly got their menus and drinks. A waitress finally came over and asked about drinks, we ordered 2 waters, and those came out quickly(which I can confidently say was the ONLY positive part of our experience). We then sat there for an additional 10 minutes with her casually serving everyone else their food. She told us, 'I will be right with you, I promise!' Then she walked back a forth a few times, then took the order of a table that arrived only 5 minutes prior. So here we are, 35 minutes with only water. I'm glad we only ordered water, because we walked out of the restaurant, and headed to the Village Inn down the street, and within the 3 minutes we were under Village Inn's roof we were seated, got our drinks, and our orders were taken. 12 minutes after getting to Village Inn, we had our food! Shout out to Kenzie at Village Inn for being prompt, polite, and incredibly attentive. We will not be returning to Virgs, and giving them one star is an overstatement to our visit with them.

Super divey place. We have only ever been for breakfast. Their pancakes are consistently huge and consistently delicious. Scones come with 3 flavors of honey butter. Eggs ordered with cheese come with Colby jack, which is awesome, because most dives just throw a slice of American on top. Potatoes are great, generous portions, insanely low prices. Like, so low we always over-tip our server. Super friendly servers, totally weird atmosphere, don't sit on the south side of the restaurant or your meal will be laced with the smell of urinal cake. If you stay north and are cool with just this side of crazy hoarder lady decor, you'll be set!

I can handle a divey restaurant but this place is just too much! Located in the old South Ogden Wingers that had been abandoned for a few years I understand why the landscaping had gone to shiz. I still think they could throw down some fresh sod down and at the very least dig up all the dead trees and shrubs. With that said I do not go to a diner to eat and or look at the outside of it. I do however go to eat and look inside and this place is FILTHY! The blinds are covered in schmeg circa 2001, like I seriously doubt they ever even started out with a clean place. My sisters and I went in for a late Sunday breakfast and despite the dingy and oddly decorated in lighthouses décor we were excited to try Virg's breakfast. I had the famous breakfast burrito and although our food was excessively slow coming out it was tasty. The Chile Verde was white girl spicy and the burrito was HUGE stuffed with hashbrowns, eggs, cheese, ham, and then smothered in the said chili Verde. I was starting to think I could handle this sad dirty little diner until it was time to pay.... This is a small diner so why for the love of god would you have a person have to stand in a line to cash out right in the middle of your establishment with their asses in your other guest's faces who are un lucky enough to be seated by the cashier stand, also right at the opening of your kitchen so not even your servers can safely nor efficiently get through?? I am giving it a 2 star for an overall rating 1 star for the look, cleanliness, and setup of the place and 3 stars for the food.

How hard is it to make breakfast food? Seriously, you'd think any place could do snl okay breakfast. I heard so many positive things about this place I had to try it. The first impression was as memorable as going to the dentist. Bland. I don't mean underseasoned, I mean flavorless! Brown. Boring. The service was pitiful. Not just poor, it was atrocious. I thought to myself, 'you know, they just opened. I'll give then another try in a month. If anything, I think it was worse! Not good food. Not good service. NOT GOOD.

The food has been great. The service leaves A LOT to be desired. First it took about 10 minutes to even take our drink order in a sparsely occupied restaurant. The waitress got everything wrong from the start. Fine, mistakes happen, but then she avoided us and that just made it worse. If you mess up, just act like you care and it will be all better. I'm actually not hard to please at all, but I left really disappointed and very clearly annoyed. The other waitress was so loud, yelling across the room to customers. It was weird. I'm sad, because I liked it there and I don't think I'll be back. Too many bad service experiences there to be outweighed by the food.

Yuck. To be fair, this is not my favorite kind of food. I should have known better when I saw something online about a hamburger that feeds 10 people or something. But we are always eager to support businesses in close proximity to our house, so we gave it a shot. It is also usually not a good sign when a place with "American" food tries to throw "Mexican" in there, too. I found something in my soup that I thought was plastic, but they assured me it was an onion. Whatever. I wasn't going to hold it against them, but the food just wasn't good. I should have gotten a hamburger; my husband's looked pretty good. When I took my young daughter to the bathroom she almost slipped on the floors, which seemed greasy. Maybe it was floor polish, but I am doubting that. Perhaps breakfast would be good? We won't be returning to find out.

We went to Virg's in Ogden today for lunch. Every time I drive by it always seems pretty busy so I have always moved on, but today we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant is clean and friendly. My mother, teenager, two toddlers and myself were seated in a comfortable booth. The menu includes an all day breakfast menu, burgers, sandwiches, mexican menu, and dinner menu. My mother and teenage son ordered the patty melts, one with a salad and one with fries. I ordered the shredded beef burrito and a childrens ham and cheese lunch for the toddlers to share. First of all, the prices were very reasonable. They were between 7 and 8 dollars and the childrens menu was $3.99. Our food came out relatively quickly. It was hot and fresh and the portions were HUMONGOUS! My smothered burrito was nearly the size of my large plate and had plenty of sour cream, salsa, and fresh tomatoes and lettuce. The patty melts were also very large and quite tasty. The side salad that my mom chose was a full meal sized salad with lots of goodies. Not just plain lettuce like a lot of restaurants serve. The kids half of ham and cheese sandwich and tater tots was plenty for my toddlers to share. They also have a really good fry sauce that they serve in a squirt bottle. I was not disappointed at all with Virg's and will likely go back soon. I would like to try the family burger with my sons and husband which is a 10 inch burger. I am pretty honest and opinionated when I review a restaurant online. Virg's was really good and very well worth the money.

We went in on a sunday . The waitress was complaining beacuse it was closing time and she wanted to go home .The food is fair at best . My philly steak sandwitch was really just shreaded roast beef with cheese on it not steak at all .I am sure it was left over pot roast that is on the menue. Not a true philly cheesesteak .The burger my companion got looked good . With the large menue I am sure that hardly anything is fresh . It is mostly frozen . Also verry slow to get served.Just OK not worth a special trip .

Looks like this is the first review for Virg's in Ogden. So first impression is that the sign on the building looks like a hobo or homeless man but is supposed to look like some sort of sea captain. It sort of looks like that sea captain from The Simpsons. When I went in I was greeted by a woman who seemed as though she had been trained to fit the mold of a 1960's sandwich shop waitress. It was obvious that this was something scripted they wanted to be said but it comes out weird when you have an accent. So since this is a seafood joint (given the sea captain on top of the building) I ordered fish and chips. This is what they say they are know for. It seemed odd that they didn't offer the vinegar that would come with most typical order. They had 5 or so type of fries options so I went with spicy since I didn't know what spicy fries even were. It all tasted pretty typical which is the problem. If I'm going to go out of my way to avoid a fast food place I would assume the taste would be different but it wasn't. Then I was given the bill for $16.00. That's a little too much for fish and chips plus a drink....or am I crazy?

it was all right. the burger was large for the price and the bun was all toasted and buttered. could use some cleaning tho... appropriately greasy food based on the type of restaurant it is. i could see this doing very well in an industrial park area as the workers head to lunch.
