Food was pretty authentic! The stacked cheese enchiladas were good . . . reminded me of the New Mexico style enchiladas my grandma used to make with a fried egg on top. :) The River Taco was good with Carnitas. The Torta with Al Pastor was good. We loved the homemade chips/salsa . . . but, had to get our own refill. :( Our waitress was not friendly . . . Vainay (sp?). We think it was her first day maybe?? But, at least she could have smiled. The other gals were very helpful & friendly. 3 stars only for the good food . . . since our waitress provided very poor customer service. We figured she must've been related to someone was the only reason she was there. :(

I really want to love this place, because it's within walking distance of my house. I do thoroughly enjoy their fried ice cream and the rest of their food is good. But good doesn't cut it in a town with dozens of Mexican food restaurants. It just doesn't give you much incentive to come back. The service was hit or miss. Our server was friendly, yet lacked the initiative to clear our tables or bring our check. Check it out if it's convenient, otherwise...eh.

Forgettable food, mediocre service. Each dish we had here tasted pretty much same. The food here is churned out with neither skill nor enthusiasm. Not recommended.

Really authentic Mexican food! If you're dining in, just be patient. The service is slow, but the food and homemade salsa are excellent. We usually go and split the molcajete bowl. It's filled with grilled veggies, cheese, shrimp, chicken, and beef. It will easily feed 4 people and is sooo tasty! Their breakfast also rocks!

Although I'm not from Mexico, I would venture to say that this place is pretty authentic. Often when we go, we are the only gringos in the place (and it is usually pretty crowded). To me, that is a testament of the restaurant's good food. The molcajete is amazing. For those of you who aren't familiar, it essentially what we call a giant "bowl of meat." I was kind of put off by the whole idea for a long time until I reluctantly agreed to share it with my husband on his birthday. I wasn't sorry. You can get different combinations of meat, but usually we order the one with shrimp, beef, and chicken. It is served in a big scorching lava bowl with cheese and cactus (sounds terrible, but do try it). Rice and beans and tortillas come with it. It's good, and you will have leftovers. We've taken people visiting from out of town, and it never disappoints. I would agree that the service is just okay. Sometimes I wonder whether it takes a little longer for the gringos, but probably not. Who knows? Finally, they sell tortillas that are homemade on the premises that are amazing. I go there just to buy them all the time.

Mixed. If you go, get their chili relleno. It is outstanding!!! Their chips and salsa suck. It is also a bakery and so sometimes if frickin freezing in there as they evidently try to compensate for the ovens.

Right in the middle, 2.5 if I could. Stuff is just okay, chips and salsa were edible but not that good. Came here out of convenience

Food was authentic unfortunately it was not very flavorful and it was dry. It was actually dry in two ways, the meats where not tender and they did not add much sauce in or on the food. They do have a salsa bar which helped a bit. On a bright note, I bought a package of homemade flour tortillas as I was checking out, they were awesome. The tortillas were big, fluffy and flavorful, well worth the nearly $3 I paid.

This place USED TO BE our favorite Mexican food in Ogden. Today I found out that the ownership changed. No more salsa bar, no more fresh food, no more flavor. I hate to write bad reviews but this may have been the worst meal we have eating in a long time. I had a smothered chicken burrito with rice and beans. The house made tortilla chips have been replaced by bagged chips. The rice had no flavor and the beans were old. The burrito was not good. It was a bagged flour tortilla with shredded chicken and a very watery sauce. It was so salty that we could only eat about half. We left the rice and beans untouched. Sadly our favorite place is gone and we won't be back.

I took my wife out on a date with a Groupon. The first thing I noticed when I went to freshen up was the toilet seat was just about falling off and the toilet paper was not in its holder. The paper towels were on a roll on the counter. It looked like the employees were oblivious to these conditions. When the server finally came by she seamed very uninterested in us or even being there. Our food was very good but we could not wait to get out of there!

My all time favorite Mexican restaurant! The food tastes authentic just like in a Mexican home. I think that is why it takes the food a little longer then most places to make it to your table. People are right though the service is kind of crappy but I put up with it for the food , it's worth it.

Been trying to call all afternoon to reserve a big table, and also ask certain things about their menu. No answer or voicemail available. I guess they don't need my family's business.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
