Came here on a date with my wife to this location for the first time. I've been to it a few years ago when it was by the hospital. I ordered the chicken fried steak and she got the chicken pasta salad. My sides were a salad and buffalo chips. Chicken fried steak - huge portion and I could tell it had homemade breading. The gravy wasn't the best but I loved the steak. Buffalo chips are amazing and I would recommend that. Chicken salad - if you've had this before you know it is a solid dish. The dressing they give you is delicious but my wife also likes to put ranch on it so she ordered a side of ranch and I must day it does add good flavor to it. They seem to have an updated menu from when I was there last. Lots to choose from. Of course the beer bread is awesome. After being away from here for so long I realize I need to make this a more frequent stop.

Delicious food, sub par service. If your group is any larger than about 4 people, you can plan on being forgotten about. If you have time to wait, the food is amazing. Especially the beer bread!

So I am changing my review from four stars to five stars and I will tell you why... Tonight my husband went to Hug Hes to pick up some food for our family. When he got home we opened our order to find several items missing. We were pretty disappointed since we knew we would not be able to drive back to have it fixed since we live 40 minutes away. I sent an email to Hug Hes explaining what had happened and if there was anything they could do. Within an hour (Katherine-I'm assuming the manager), called me. I missed her call but called her back. She was on her way home but still answered my call on her personal phone on her personal time. She was very apologetic and understanding. She pulled over on the side of the road to get my address so she could send me a nice credit that I was more than happy with. I ended my conversation with her feeling more than taken care of. There is no doubt in my mind that Hug Hes is an establishment that truly cares about their patrons. To take the time to get back with me on my complaint almost immediately and then to use her personal time to take care of me was extraordinary customer service! I was more than impressed and will recommend Hug Hes to all of my friends, family and co-workers.

Everything here is good. Rumor is the owner is a perfectionist and it shows through in everything we order. Even the chocolate chip cookies seem like they make them from scratch daily. I don't want to oversell it but it is great food in a nice place. We always think it is a good idea to eat hear whenever it is suggested. After reading the efy girls review I am convinced that she is to inexperienced to know what she is talking about. Also about the guy that did not like the Mexican dish, (he could be right) but I have never had the Mexican dish because this is an American cafe. Everything I order is like homemade if I had an awesome kitchen. Tips. Ask for the free cookies after dinner or buy an amazing dessert. They are all way way good. Try this place out as it is truly a one and only

Been wanting to got to Hug-Hes for awhile, finally made it there for lunch. Unfortunately, I broke one of my cardinal rules, never get Mexican or Italian at a restaurant that does not specialize in that type of food. I was really in the mood for Mexican so.... The Mexican food was pathetic. It was a huge amount of food topped with tons of cheese but it was not good, authentic or appetizing. It came with two enchiladas which were some not so good filling stuffed in huge flour tortillas rolled very poorly topped with canned enchilada sauce. The combo came with beans and a burrito, none of the items were worth eating. So why the 3 stars vs. one or two, the beer bread and the wife's burger. She got stuffed burger that looked pretty good.

My daughter and I stopped for dinner on our way Christmas shopping. She got the amazing smoked chicken salad which is normally what I get. I decided to get a sandwich with a side of the pasta. The sandwich was less than amazing. The bread was a little dry and the bacon was very over cooked. But the turkey on the sandwich was tasty as was the side of pasta salad. When our server came back to check on us we asked for a box for my daughter. She saw my mostly untouched sandwich and asked why I didn't want a box. Long story short she offered me something else but I was full. The pasta salad was great. We ordered a sugar cookie to go and when she brought back the box for my daughter and the check she brought a bag with 2 to go containers in it. I asked "what's in here" and she just smiled a walked away quickly. A quick glance at my check revealed that she took off my sandwich and charged us for a cookie. The bag contained TWO cookies and a full order of the smoked chicken salad. When she came to collect the check I told her she was being too generous and her reply was "I want you to be happy"! I'm so impressed with the lengths they are willing to go to please! We don't eat out often but I guarantee we will return to Hug-Hes!!

Lunch was solid. Big selection of salads, ample burgers and sandwiches. Buffalo fries were crispy little potato discs with buff seasoning. My turkey, burger came with a side salad and choice of sides. Service was prompt, friendly and earnest. As an out of towner, I was pleased for an honest meal.

I have been eating at this place as long as I have lived in Ogden. I have tried a few of their other menu items, but 95% of the time I order their smoked chicken pasta salad. This salad is not the type of food I typically eat, but it's the one thing that keeps me coming back to Hug-Hes Cafe on a regular basis. It is amazing and comes with a few slices of their awesome beer bread. I highly recommend you try it.
