A very fancy restaurant atmosphere. But not my favorite. I ordered stake.. It has too much pepper corns. I couldn't eat it at all. I felt like I wasted my $30. It's not worth it.

What a great experience...from the time we opened the door to walk in until the moment we left. The ladies who waited on us were absolute gems. You could tell they took pride in their work. It was a 5 course meal starting with a fruit cup or tomato juice. Course 2 was a salad or soup. Course 3 was the main entree and course 4 was dessert...all this was built in to the price of the meal. Oh yeah...course 5 was the delicious hot cinnamon roles they served with the salad. The meal was fantastic! I ordered the prime rib which was cooked just the way I like it. I wasn't sure what to order for dessert...banana cream pie or peach cobbler. I went with the peach cobbler but because I was so indecisive, our wonderful server brought a slice of the banana cream pie for our entire table to try!! We were spoiled for sure. I will stop on next time I'm in Ogden and revisit this restaraunt. The great service, outstanding views and good food make this one of Ogdens hidden treasures.

Everything about the Lodge was comforting and welcoming. The food, the staff, the decor was exactly what we needed after a long day of driving. This place does not need updating. If you want new and trendy, go somewhere else.

This was a nice change from the regular restaurant fare around the North Utah area. This is gourmet dining, from the beautiful antique decor to the style of serving dinner. We started with a palate cleanser. I chose the fruit, which was really fruit & sorbet, quite pleasing and cleansing. The appetizer followed, soup for my party and salad for me. Then our entrees, the single or double locally caught trout, were served. The waitress filleted the fish for us at the table. A few bones were still left in my fish, though the rest of my party had no trouble with them. Finally, we went to choose dessert and my partner's chocolate brownie with ice cream was enough to share for two. Sinfully delicious, at that! All of the food was delicious and clearly made from scratch. The trout was so tender that it practically fell apart as you ate. I was surprised that they served a full bar's worth of spirits here as, well, it is Utah, and I'd expect a high end place here to only serve wine. Pleasant surprise, though, which led to trying peppermint schnapps (on the rocks) for the first time! I would love to eat here again and recommend this to anyone who has a taste for fine dining and doesn't have a limited palate. Maybe not for your average Utahn.

I have eaten here many times over the years and its the only place I know that makes fried oysters. They are delicious. I love the cozy farm house feel of the place. Overall a great place.

Very little in the breakfast buffet - not even a piece of bacon. Scrabbled eggs with cheese was the only egg choice. My husband tried the fruit compote and some of the fruit was still frozen. The waitress told us the fish was Red Snapper - sure tasted and looked like salmon. The little cinnamon rolls they are know for tasted day old. Very disappointing for $16.50. Get a much better, fresher brunch for half the price at Golden Corral.

We had been wanting to try the Gray Cliff since we moved to the area last summer and we really wanted to like it. Unfortunately we did not. Before I talk about what we didn't like I do want to mention that all the employees here were very friendly and the service was great. This is not a fancy restaurant. It's not the kind of place you would go for a romantic dinner. It's more casual. The building is an old house and the decor is more old fashioned, a throwback to the 70s. Even the music. The food was also a throwback. To begin each meal you are offered a choice of tomato juice or canned fruit cocktail, which is definitely a 70s thing. We got one of each just for the heck of it. The tomato juice consisted of a small glass of plain tomato juice served on a saucer with a slice of lemon and one club cracker. The "fruit cup" was a tiny cup of canned fruit cocktail topped with a little ball of sherbet and a cherry served on a plate with..one club cracker. It was very odd and we didn't care for either. After this they brought a basket of their homemade dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls. Unfortunately the rolls were hard and seemed like they were made the day before. We couldn't' eat them. Next we had a choice of either soup or salad. My husband and I both chose salad. When it arrived it was wilted and was obviously prepared ahead of time, not prepared fresh. The dressings are made from scratch and they were good. For our main course we chose the pan fried oyster dinner and the fried chicken dinner. The fried chicken is one of their specialties so I had high hopes. The oysters - these are Pacific oysters so they are very large. I discovered they just aren't to my taste. My husband, on the other hand, liked them very much. Part of the problem for me is that the coating was soggy and not crisp. The chicken - when the chicken arrived it was very dark and almost looked burnt. The crust wasn't like anything I'd seen before. It was flat and had no salt in it at all. The chicken itself was juicy but the crust was not good. The sides - my husband chose the rice and I chose a baked potato. Hubs said the rice was just okay. The baked potato was good but was really small. Finally, dessert comes with the meal. We chose a carrot cake and what they called a brownie pie (we added ice cream and whipped cream topped with chocolate sauce). The carrot cake was pretty good but a little on the sweet side. It had a lot of orange flavor in it which I didn't care for, but I think most people would like it. The brownie "pie' wasn't really a pie at all. It looked like they put brownie batter in a pie pan and cut the brownies into the shape of a piece of pie. The brownie was partially raw and tasted like it was from a box mix. The chocolate sauce was Hershey's syrup, which is fairly standard for most restaurant desserts. Sadly, this just wasn't a satisfying meal. The food we had was basically diner food poorly executed. All that being said, the restaurant was fairly crowded by the time we left. Apparently it is very popular. Most of the diners were older. I get the feeling this is one of those iconic local restaurants that people love because they've been dining there for years. I don't get it, but that's just me...

This restaurant is in serious need of an up date .Its like being in your grandmas house with the lace table cloths . At one time this was a great place to eat . The food was OK . I really like the chicken livers . And my steak was well cooked . But they could get rid of the fruit cup . And serve fresh rolls . Not stale ones .Desert was only OK . The oatmeal pie tasted like flour and the cheesecake is from a mix . Even tho they were not busy the service was way slow . And prices are high .

Went there after getting a Groupon - probably would have never heard of it otherwise. Looking at the clientel, most were quite old, but every younger couple we saw there had a Groupon with them, so I imagine it helped them introduce the place to a new group. As for the review: This place (like several in Ogden - not sure why) is stuck in a different era - in this case, the late 1940's or 50's. I don't have a problem with this, as it means a lot of food included in the basic menu prices. The restaurant is in the old Dee family summer home, and has that kind of feel. It's quaint. The bar is ringed by old snow skis and posters (there was no bartender on duty the night we went). The hostess and wait staff were very friendly and eager to please ("Now for dessert, and you can't say no because it's included!") For your entree price you get cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls, a fruit cocktail ("out of a can" said the waitress) or tomato juice, soup or salad, entree with choice of side and dessert for the menu price. Most items are very reasonably priced. Parking is limited, but seems ok for the size of the place. I had the House Specialty Crispy Fried Chicken. I've been looking for good old-fashioned fried chicken for weeks, and this met my expectations. Nice and crispy, meat juicy inside. For dessert I had the brownie, which was very good. My partner had the prime rib, which was a little tough - this might have been because he asked for it medium well (I know, I know...). Overall I would totally go back. It's a great little piece of local Americana, locally owned and operated. I'll go back.

I have not been able to find many restaurants which serve Sunday Brunch in Ogden. We drove up the Canyon to Gray Cliff Lodge. We were greeted pleasantly and seated immediately. The ambience was "homey" and comfortable with lace curtains and table-cloths. The highlight of the buffet table seemed to be chicken livers and red snapper - I did not enjoy either. I found the food to be dried out and over-cooked. It is higher priced than advertised. The coffee was good and plentiful. Much can be done to improve it!

The place has a 1940s feel to it in the middle of Ogden Canyon. Kind of smelled like an antique store! They have a heated patio encased in glass, so it was nice to sit out there and enjoy the surroundings. The food was just a bit better than OK. i got their "famous" fried chicken and paid (i think) around $18 for it. Although you do get a big basket of rolls and cinnamon rolls, a fruit cup/tomato juice, salad/soup, your meal, and dessert. I don't know if there wasn't enough cooks working that night or if it was the norm, bc just about everything i had was cooked too long. It also took an extremely long time to get our main course, which was kind of awful with 2 kids under 3. The chicken was juicy, but the breading was overcooked, the rolls turned hard in a couple of minutes, my broccoli was a bit undercooked, and the brownie "pie" was pretty hard-even though it was heated up. I loved the fact they served cinnamon rolls in the bread basket! they didn't have icing on them, yet it was still kind of like having dessert first! They used real plates and silverware there too. I got the feeling they were trying to be fancy in an old fashioned way, but some things confused me. They served the fruit cup w/ sorbet as a palate cleanse, but they served that first before anything else. Kind of odd! All in all, it was a pleasurable experience. I'm chalking up the food quality to staff issue, since they were getting rather busy and it was a Tuesday night. oh- and they're also closed on Mondays. I gave this 4 stars instead of 3 because they're affiliated with restaurants.com . I got a $25 gift certificate for this place for $3!!

Condies bagged salad and fruit cocktail from DelMonte's. Somebody needs to take away their can opener and put them out of business. Nice location is wasted on the lousy menu. Drive a little further up the canyon and try The Oaks.

Love to drive up Ogden Canyon & found the Gray Cliff Lodge as we were looking for breakfast. They advertised brunch. The old house atmosphere was great . . . hmmm, the food . . . not so great. The price was $16.50 & included your drink. The red snapper was good, the pork was very dried out. The eggs seemed like the instant with lots of cheese . . . tasty, though! Chicken strip was very dry . . . french toast stick was cold. Hashbrowns seemed packaged. The blueberry muffin & the brownie was probably the best. Since it was buffet-style, everything just seemed kind of dried out & luke warm. Fruit platter was nice. Coffee could've been stronger. Ambiance nice . . . I thought it funny the "ski museum" was actually a bar. lol!! I guess only in UT! We weren't offered menus, so I guess you just get the brunch on Sunday . . . where was the mimosa?!! Probably won't go back . . . although after reading these reviews, I'm curious about the dinner chicken?? Beautiful old house in an awesome area . . . far enough off the highway for no traffic noise in the indoor patio. Very casual dress, especially the hostess . . . so, going in after a nice long hike/walk is perfect!
