I've heard of the fuzzy peaches so we came here just to try those. We ordered them as an appetizer and the whole dish was delicious. I loved the mango ice cream and the peaches were also very tasty. Add most agree this dessert dies not disappoint. I ordered the pork chop and it was a good size. About an inch thick with the bone in. Garlic mashed potatoes were awesome. My wife ordered a pasta dish which was pretty good. The chicken in it was very good. They seemed to use a lot of local ingredients so that is always nice. We spent about 50 bucks on 2 entrees and dessert. Prices are high but this is more of a date night place rather than a family joint.

Got seated quickly, on a Saturday night at that, and enjoyed the lovely weather on their patio. Bread and water came fast. Server was pleasant and helpful. Husband ordered the Black & Blue pasta - the meat served on top was prepared to his liking. My husband ALWAYS finishes his food, but this dish was very rich and filling so he had leftovers. (First time in our 9 year marriage that's happened). I got the salmon and was pleased. Great crunch on the outside, but perfectly most and fluffy on the inside, and overall had a nice flavor. Both pasta and entree dishes come with a soup or salad. Between the bread, soup/salad, and main course, we left very full and satisfied. Would recommend this restaurant to others and look forward to going back and trying more! 4 stars for overall experience. Might be a little overpriced, but given my first experience I'd go again.

The food was awesome, we all got very different dishes and everything was wonderful! The rice bowl with tofu was way delicious, my non-tofu eating cousin even liked it! The waitress was so cute! She always kept our water full and was so sweet and shared such a positive story of how her stolen belongings were returned! Great atmosphere, super chill and cool decorations! Took grandma out for the first time in a long while and she totally loved it!

Second time visiting Ogden and dining at Bistro 258 is a must! Great food, service and ambient. The calamari and blackened seafood salad were exquisite. Great wine selection too. Will return on next visit to Ogden

Food: I ordered one of the Bistro's favorites, the Coconut Macadamia Halibut with a salad as a side. The salad had a little too much dressing for my taste but the honey glazed nuts were a nice touch to it. I expected the entree to have a little more coconut flavor to it. You get a hint of coconut -- so it was light, but still good. For dessert, I got the popular Peach Fuzzy. I wasn't crazy about the peaches themselves... mostly ate the batter but the peaches were a good combination with the mango sorbet! The pomegranate martini was also tasty, but could've used a little more alcohol and less juice. Service: My waitress named "C"... wasn't all that good. She failed to tell me the special of the day, didn't give me any bread (while her other tables got some), and served my salad without giving me any utensils. I'm not particularly anal about this stuff, but it was just very visible in comparison to the other servers and their tables. Atmosphere: Casual. Very relaxing, especially if you get a table outside to enjoy the sunshine and nice breeze! Would try it again if I'm ever in the area.

This place has a lot of potential - you can see it in the reviews. It's going to be one of those "I got a three star meal at a five star restaurant" review. It happens. Our server was Errol, very friendly, but just stumbled through the specials after we had already looked at the menu....supposed to announce the specials while handing out the menus. But Errol was fine - the real issue was how things were prepared. My colleague ordered a Caesar salad that suspiciously looked like a house salad (with tomatoes, onions, and carrots), my steak was way over cooked - tough like jerky, the soup tasted like Progresso (canned corn, really?), and the fuzzy peach dessert was really salty to me. It wasn't a great meal - just average. And for the pricing, you do not expect an 'average' meal - you expect something better than you can cook on your own. Look at my steak picture again, nice presentation - but look how charred the steak is (very tough). And we were the only customers in the restaurant - not a huge stress night for the kitchen. Hate to lower the rating on this place, but we must have caught the kitchen on an off night....

I'm very torn on this review because the first time I went we had a wonderful waitress and great food. I ordered the curry over rice and it was delicious. We were served quickly by a positive young woman who was very attentive. The second time I visited was what made me never want to go back. Service was slow and inattentive, despite the fact they had only one other table filled. Our waitress seemed to be more focused on hanging out with the other people working there and chatting, rather than refilling water or bringing the check we asked for. The second time was so slow and frustrating it made me hesitate to recommend it again. It was quite disappointing.

It's been a while since I have been to the Bistro and I was glad I made the visit again. The setting is great with either a quaint, tight table atmosphere or a sunroom with a little room to spread out. On a 100 degree day they still keep it quite comfortable under all of that glass which adds to a nice lunch experience. I ordered the fish tacos and a side salad. The lettuce came at different sizes and I found myself needing to use a knife to bring it to bite sized pieces. Dressing options were slim at only 3 but the lettuce was crisp, fresh, and crisp with a few cherry tomatoes and red onion for flavor and color. The fish tacos were extremely big. Good from a filling stand point but difficult to eat without a fork. The sauce and pico used was flavorful and offset the Mahi Mahi which was poached with no seasoning and kind of bland. Served with a side of rice that was fantastic. Good service and good food. A nice place for a lunch visit.

I went for lunch and had the fish tacos. They were really good and a fair price. Service was good too.

Service was mediocre but friendly . Food is way overpriced and not that great. Atmosphere is nice for a quiet dinner but I wouldn't go there again given the choice of Roosters right across the street they have much better food!

First off, I'm extremely easy to please. I'll drink expired beers, won't complain if I find a hair and will happily wait forever if needed. I was looking for something new to try, and what I got.. This was bad. I was greeted by a very cheerful host but turned over to a cold stranger. I came in with high expectations and was led here by yelp. I buy local, avidly support the belief but I will never return, even for the artichoke dip. I ordered the calamari, and my gosh. Out in CA did I have amazing calamari. This was not properly battered, salted so much I could not eat it, had the notorious "fish scent" that good seafood does not have, and getting two WHOLE fried sea creatures with unbattered tentacles made even less appetizing. The burger... I got the teriyaki burger and I hate to say it but I could get a tastier one at a fast food chain. Totally flavorless, the tomato tasted like water, the beef was dry, this shredded beet thing just killed it, and it apparently had some kind of sauce that I just slightly noticed thanks to the water the tomato leeched under my bun. The fries were actually tasty, and I finished those but that does not make up for dessert. Fuzzy peaches. The reason I came in. Those have to be the most pungent, atrocious peaches I've ever had. I'm not sure if they taste the produce, and I know January is not the best time but at least consider serving it seasonal if the flavor won't be present in it's full glory. Then the server. Thank you for letting me know the "flavor shot" was extra, for charging me full price for the fuzzy peach dish; the mango sorbet that was not there, and doing little to make small talk instead of awkwardly watching me eat. Flash forward 30 minutes, it was EMPTY and I'm getting rushed out the door. She drops off my tab, and then says have a great day. When I left, no one was even in sight. The pros: The lemonade was good, as were the fries. This place has IMMENSELY GREAT potential! But paying 30 bucks for me alone and having such a mediocre lunch ehh. I see 25th street as a restaurant ladder place that offers plenty, but in my opinion, this place does no justice. Till never, Bistro.

This restaurant, for me, serves as a bridge between casual and fine dining. Their prices are pretty steep but their food is excellent. I have tried a few things there but my favorite is their princess penne pasta. So many unique flavors brought into one succulent dish! I will say that one time they forgot my chicken on my pasta entree, but instead of taking the entree back the waitress brought me a sideplate of plain grilled chopped chicken to add to the entree myself. I found this inconsistent with the aura of the restaurant. They limit your bread and generally seem understaffed. You can sometimes see the frustration on the staff's faces when they fall behind and are pulling greeters, etc from their positions to help serve. This has happened 3 of the 4 times I've visited. And their fuzzy peaches dessert is seriously overrated in my opinion. The steal of the dessert was the ice cream they put on the side. I pushed the peaches aside. Overall, great food and that is why i go back and forcibly swallow down the service a little bit.

Every time I go and eat at Bistro, I wish I could move in. Such a great restaurant. I am the pickiest eater on the sodding planet, but there's nothing on their menu that isn't as close to perfect as I've ever seen.

I have been eating at the Bistro since they opened up years and years ago - back in the days when my parents still picked up my tab! They have amazing patio seating for the summer and the location is the perfect place for a quick lunch after the Farmer's market or a romantic dinner before something fun downtown. I love their curry bowls and the turkey bacon cheddar melt - these are my go-to meals here!!! The food and location are 4-5 stars; I have loved every dish that I have tried. However, the service makes this place a 3 star joint, in my book. We often times skip the Bistro because the service is sooo slow! It doesn't matter if it's packed, empty, a Monday, or a Saturday. Every. Single. Time. It. Is. So. Slow.

Excellent place. I loved everything. I ordered lamb and it was delightful. Excellent service and great food. I really liked the location and the option to eat outside. The place felt warm and welcoming and the food has a gourmet feel and Taste to it that I loved. I don't think I will have much reason to go to Utah in the future but my great memories of Ogden are based on this place and the excellent summer time weather there.

Bistro 258 is right behind the Marriott we stayed in, which made it extremely convenient to have dinner at. We hade great service and food and would definitely return. I had the glazed salmon and my wife had the chicken christine. Both were very good and healthy.

I thought the atmosphere was great but don't expect it to reflect how the food is going to taste. Our burgers came out burnt and dry. Having them remade didn't make a difference either. Burnt buns and dry burgers there is no doubt they were prefab from the freezer. The salads were lame and don't try to impress me with a silly slice if strawberry in my water. I'm no fool. So if you want a good burger don't worry about the atmosphere and walk down the street. Anything west of this restaurant is the best. To the waitress: I know the burnt food wasn't your fault and you handled the criticism very well. In any case it wouldn't hurt to inspect the food yourself and send it back if it doesn't look right. You are in a position to catch the mistake before it gets to the customer. To the owner, Mr. Cash: your prefabricated response that we are unsatisfiable was horribly unprofessional. Perhaps now you will learn to take criticism more seriously.

I have been here twice and have really enjoyed it. It's not a large restaurant but, is very clean and classy looking. The service was great both times I went, one time the waiter came over a little more often than I would like but, we got there before the rush so he was probably bored. The food is really good. I had a pasta (I can't remember the name) the first time and the pasta was cooked great and sauced perfectly, the chicken was very moist and flavorful as well, it was very well balanced with chicken and either cherry or us dried tomatoes but, I was pleased that there wasn't to little or to much. The second time I went I had the beef medallions and they were Cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. The mashed potatoes tasted great and veggies were cooked but still crispy. Both times I went I got the mushroom Gorgonzola soup and it is absolutely amazing! Honestly, that is the main reason I wanted to go back I craved it since the day I tasted it. There are other items I wish to try and I just can't pass up that soup so I will be back again and again.

Quiet at lunch time. Good, attentive service. The menu was tough to choose from; many options, all sounded delectable. Seating options are nice too. I had the Chicken Christine and it was good. The mushroom cream sauce was rich. The artichokes were tasty. The veggies were good as well. I got a side of fruit with everything and it was fresh and juicy. My coworkers had no complaints with what they ordered.

This is one of our favorite upscale restaurants to eat at in Ogden (besides Hearth on 25th but you need a few hours to eat there). It's kid-friendly. Everything is fresh and very well-prepared. I got the salad with blackened seafood. It had generous pieces of salmon and shrimp and a scallop. It's really like getting a seafood dish and a salad. All cooked perfectly but the blackened refers to the spices. It's not actually grilled at high heat and seared until blackened. Who cares - so good - but another person complained and sent hers back, so I thought I'd warn you. The greens were dressed in a light vinaigrette that was so yummy I wanted to drink it straight. My husband got the penne with steak and blue cheese. It had a rich sauce and the steak was perfect. Loved it. Just wish it were low calorie ;) The bread - I tried to skip it (the carbs) but I just couldn't resist. It has a bit of rosemary which made it stand out and addicting. We love the chocolate torte and when we get dessert it's my first choice but after reading the other reviews I'll have to try the Fuzzy Peaches. I love dining in Ogden, it's a lot more laid back than Salt Lake. In other words, no pressure to hurry or drink (I drink water because I want to save all my calories for the food) and you can go casual or dressy.

Don't bother with soda, they add strawberries to the water, and it's refreshing! I had the spinach salad and it was delicious! I loved the dressing. We finished the meal with the fuzzy peach, and that was interesting to look at, not what we expected. And then when we tried it, we wished we had not decided to share. The service was good, if it had been better then I would have given 5 stars.

  • Lisa J.

The artichoke dip was good although we felt the Italian seasoning was completely unnecessary and a little strong for this kind of dip. The Indian inspired curry bowl I would give a 4. The burger was WAY overcooked and over sauced. Beer was good. The service wasn't great but not bad. Fuzzy peach dessert was tasty but order without the raspberry sauce. We would go again on our next trip to the area.

With such high ratings, I expected a really great experience. For us, it was average at best. While the pot sticker appetizer was really good, the salad was plain and blase (lettuce, a few mandarin orange slices and two cherry tomatoes). The main course was again, average. I ordered the Orange Chili Chicken and my wife ordered the Salmon. Both of us thought the meat tasted plain, even though the sauces were featured in the menu description. The staff was nice although oddly, our waitress never picked up our empty plates. So at the end of the meal, even when she dropped off the check, she never took any plates. We had to wait for another staff member come and pick them up. Going out on a date night is a big deal for us so spending $25/person should equate to a fantastic meal (IMHO). Unfortunately for us, we were disappointed. We'll be going elsewhere for our next date night.

Our first meal of the trip west was a winner! We landed at SLC and picked a town up the road for me to research while my hubby drove. I love the Yelp app! We loved the street, the town and most of all, this cozy place. Everything on the menu looked intriguing but then our server told us about the specials and they sounded even better. We split the Crab Cake app and it was delicious, the mustard sauce really added to the great flavors and texture. Both of us had the special Thai Beef bowl, mine with brown rice and my hubz had noodles. Add in the perfectly brewed iced tea and we thought we had had a delicious meal. We were wrong, we had not yet had dessert. Oh my, how to describe their signature Fuzzy Peaches dessert? Fuzzilicious? Peachy keen? How about you just come here and try it! The peach halves were lightly glazed in a sweet tempura batter and then flash fried and served with mango sorbet and vanilla ice cream. Peach perfection! It brings a tear to my eye just to remember it! Our server was also so personable and made a memorable meal even more delicious. She told us to stop in again on our way back to the airport and you know, we might! We could see her and partake of those peaches once more!

If you haven't eaten here, you need to give it a try. Great food, great atmosphere and great service. The waiter expertly helped us pair a wine and had a thorough knowledge of the menu. Not just what choices there were, but what was in the selections that made them special. The owner helped make the evening even better. He personally checked to see that our food and service were good and we ended up talking with him about the history of the building and the 25th street area in general. There aren't too many restaurants on par with this in Utah.

Devin was so good about arranging for and preparing a special birthday request that I had to make from a thousand miles away. My family and friends who were lucky enough to dine at Bistro 258 had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal. This has become a favorite in Ogden and we are looking forward to visiting again soon.

This wonderful dining experience has caused The Bistro 258 to be our go-to place for all special occasions. The ambiance is magnificent. You can actually talk to one another, the service is second to none and I haven't even talked about the food! My wife and I each ordered the 12, oz. New York steak, with clamp chowder, which was amazing, to start. It was magnificent! I know it's only clam chowder, but their chef has turned it into a masterpiece. The steaks, my wife and I agreed, were the best we had ever had. Mouthwatering, tender and juicy, and believe me, I'm picky about steak. We never felt rushed at all. I know for some restaurants it's all about turning the tables to get more diners in, but not at Bistro 258. We felt relaxed and left when we were ready. There are so many delicious items on the menu, you can't miss. Magnificent, chef prepared food for the most discriminating palette. I highly recommend Bistro 258 for any occasion, even if its just date night.

We stopped in for a late lunch with the kids during the week. The place looks great and had a pleasant atmosphere. We were seated in the open area in the back and prompted greeted by our server. The Asian wrap was great with plenty of portion and the flavors were spot on. The highlight however was the Fuzzy Peaches. Warm battered peach halves served with vanilla ice cream and mango sorbet. This is a must have if you come here. The creme brulé was a miss, although good, the caramelized sugar tasted of the torch fuel used to melt it. All in all, a good dining experience.

I am not a sandwich/wrap kind of person, particularly at a sit down restaurant. But I heard good things about the Bistro, so I went yesterday for the first time. I ordered the Steak Grinder Sandwich which had steak tenderloin with sauteed onions and mushrooms in garlic-olive oil. I was pleased at how flavorful the sandwich was. Probably the best I've had yet! There is a bit of a wait for your meal, but it is definitely worth the wait. You can tell the chef carefully prepared the meal quite nicely. Definitely a hit for me!

Service: Good. Answered questions, knew the menu. Kept the drinks filled. Speedy service and checked in just the right amount. Food: Pretty good. Started with the special of the day crab dip. To be fair I live on the east coast and am used to fresher sea food. The dip tasted a little too fishy for me, but the blue chips were good. The four of us ordered Strawberry Chicken Salad, Vege Tacos w/ lentil soup, steak salad and Chicken Asian Salad. No complaints, but they weren't super memorable. Atmosphere: Nice patio to sit out on a sunny afternoon. Interior looked very nice also.

Love everything here! Seasonal salads & house dressing, always fresh. Coco maca halibut is always fresh. Penne black and blue is always fresh. See a trend? More expensive than other 25 restaurants, but well worth it as everything is always delicious and Bistro never disappoints.

First time at Bistro 258 tonight. All four of us really enjoyed our food. I especially enjoyed the fuzzy peaches and the manhattan clam chowder. I honestly enjoyed our whole experience including location, atmosphere, service, and especially the food. Our entrées were: surf and turf, caramelized salmon, the mango coconut halibut and black and bleu pasta and no one had anything but praise for their dishes. It's pricey ($60 for 2 with no drinks or appetizers) but I felt they justified their price with excellent food. I will be going back.

Bistro 258 served up the best meal I had in Utah. Our group walked up and down 25th Street and circled back here after discovering all our options. Very glad we dropped in that night. Pork chops can be dry and tasteless if cooked improperly. Usually stay away because I get tired of it 2/3rds of the way through. The chef here does it right. Blackberry pork chop was excellent, substantial and moist all the way through. Garlic mashed potatoes, yum. I've yet to have bad garlic mashed potatoes anywhere though. Just enough vegetables on the plate for me to appear like I'm eating my greens. Even I can choke down a couple slices of squash and some carrots. Water comes with strawberry slices. I ate some of them; they were not really fresh for eating. Should have left them in the glass like they're supposed to be. I'm sure they're great for a touch of flavor to the water. I can get farm fresh CA strawberries back home, why did I eat these?

This is one of my favorite places to eat in ogden. I've had most of the menu at this point and have not had one bad meal here. The lunch menu is a great deal. The turkey bacon melt is the same price as a burger and fries from a fast food joint, but its way better and comes with choice of side dish. As well as they have some great burger options. The lunch service is usually pretty quick for a sit down restaurant. The dinner menu is kind of spendy, it's more of a date night place then a regular meal(at least for my tax bracket) ;) The macadamia nut halibut is pure awesome! I'm a big fan of white fish and they do it very very well here. The black and blue penne is also a great choice. If you 're going in on a weekend night, I'd recommend calling a head or eating before or after the dinner rush. Not saying its slow, but I'm bad at waiting in lines. If you're looking for a place to grab a bite in ogden, give this place a try.

First of all let me point out it's been quite a while since I have been here but I was burned and can't stomach the idea of going back even though the food is great. I had the WORST service I have ever had at a restaurant here. We went in for lunch and it took over an hour and people sat after us had food before our waiter had taken our order. When we finally got a waiter he was rude and very unprofessional. I have gotten better service at a drive up window. I seriously can not talk about how terrible the service we got was I was very close to walking out but sadly we were on a work lunch break and couldn't have had time to stop anywhere else so we sat it out. The 2 stars in my review are for the food, if it weren't for that 1 horrible experience it would probably be a 4 star review. I hope this waiter has been fired but unfortunately I can't bring myself to go back and see.

Very nice meal and outstanding service. Wine was great and good selection of local beer...polygamy whaaaaat? Located right in downtown, has outdoor seating available. Very convinient if you are staying at Marriott...and you could hit couple bars on next door until they closed down at 23:00.

Great meal on a good looking street. We headed out of town right after landing in Salt Lake City and decided to get a meal here. Not only was the server perfect but the food was outstanding. I chowed on Crab Cakes and Thai Beef Noodle bowl plus Fuzzy Peaches for dessert. If there is a better meal out there, I am not aware of it. Worth the drive for a superb food experience.

Do NOT go here for the burgers. They are expensive and they suck. I can't speak for other menu items. The service was meh. The soup and salad came with the entree and the drinks after that. Pass.

Yelppers come on 4 stars? am i missing something here. the food was average. the wine glasses were dirty. the Waitress was not that good. My wife and I were in Ogden for the Collegiate Nationals from CO and yelped this place. the Lettuce wraps were way to salty. The salad was ok. and the chili chicken was blah. Sorry this place is 2-3 stars at best

25th Street is a lot of fun. Bistro 258 helps to make it that much better. I find the menu a little pricey especially for 25th Street, but the food was excellent. We went to the middle of the price range so I can't vouch for the upper end dishes. We ordered a pulled pork penne. I could eat that dish every day and never grow tired of it. Who would have ever put pulled pork and avocado slices on top of a bed of penne pasta laden with a creamy tomato sauce and thought it would change my life? My wife ordered a steak salad which was also very good. We had read about the fuzzy peaches. Think peach cobbler served very uniquely. I like peach cobbler so I quite enjoyed it. Fun atmosphere. Definitely going back. Spring and summer are awesome to stroll 25th street as you digest.

Very underperforming. Had ahi tuna rice bowl with sweet chili and strawberry club. Focaccia bread dense and poor taste. Rice bowl mushy and tuna warm and too heavily blackened. Overall a bland and poor experience. Server was astounded we said food was poor

This was my favorite restaurant on our trip. They have a lovely outdoor patio. I had the gorgonzola and steak pasta. It was great. But I like my steaks well done. Several folks at our table ordered medium and were given well done steaks. Keep an eye out for that if you like rare or medium! Desserts were good, but they were out of several of them.

We are eaters. All of us. The human race has few activities more frequent than eating. The acclaimed philosopher Voltaire exclaimed that "nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity." Yet we eat every day, often without taking the time to enjoy the process. Days become weeks, which file into months of drab and purely functional eating. And then without warning, a meal breaks through the culinary haze as the sun breaks through the iconic valley inversion. I found Bistro 258 3 years ago as I was strolling down 25th, looking to kill time on a Saturday. My friend and I were gathering menus of the restaurant mecca-street of Ogden, when we came across the simple door of what is now my favorite restaurant in Utah. Josh and I walked into a restaurant that was simple, tasteful, and distinctly American. The walls are decorated with vibrant depictions of jazz musicians, vintage play bills, and hollow body guitars, offering the simple sophistication that appeals to the zeitgeist of the American spirit. I was pleasantly surprised by the expertise of our waiter, showing a knowledge and savvy that I had ignorantly missed in the past. What followed was a redefining culinary experience. There are moments that come in life that change your expectations. One of these moments was when I met my wife, and realized that the girls I was dating were simply not going to work. I had similar feelings while dining at Bistro 258. My meal started with a Manhattan Clam Chowder that was ornamented with a tomato-celery puree and sherry that elevated the soup past its humble nautical beginnings. The charming broth was laden with red potatoes, celery, whole clams, and the unique addition of corn, a delightfully rustic addition. When an appetizer is incredible, I get nervous. You see, often the appetizer is better than the entree, and your inflated expectations are popped by an average main course, leaving you satisfied, but disappointed. I am happy to report that the entree blew the soup out of the water. I had the orange-chili chicken, a buxom chicken breast seasoned with an orange, pomegranate, and chili pepper demi-glace, and cooked to tender perfection. I am not exaggerating when I say that this, paired with about two other things on Bistro's menu are in the top ten things I've ever eaten. Our dessert was an unique dish, one that is available only at Bistro 258. "Fuzzy Peaches" consists of peach halves breaded in tempura batter, and then flash fried to a crispy on the outside, raw on the inside treat of a peach. The peaches are then paired with a sumptuous helping of vanilla bean ice cream and mango sorbet, tied together with a caramel sauce and a raspberry melba drizzle. I walked out of Bistro 258 sure that I would never have another meal that would exceed it. While I have had a few meals that matched it, I can honestly report that no meal has ever exceeded the quality and enjoyment of that surprising meal three years ago. One of the important measures of a restaurant is not only the quality of the meal, but the consistency as well. I have been back many times, and I have never had anything I haven't liked. For the clam chowder, their vegetable beef is equally formidable. For the orange-chili chicken, the blackberry pork chop is incredibly delicious. I can't decide which I like better. If you are like me, you need a break from the mundane. Meals that flash by without any significance are to be expected, but should be broken up with meals that mean something. To break your streak, go to Bistro 258.

Located on the fabulous 25th street in Ogden, Bistro 258 is a great place for a date. I try to eat somewhere new each time we go out for a meal, but Bistro 258 is one of the restaurants in Ogden I know I can always count on for a delicious and ambient meal with fabulous service. The exposed brick walls are typical for 25thstreet and the jazz music playing in the background gives it a comfortable speakeasy feel, and along those lines, there is a rumor that Bistro 258 has its own secret tunnel; long ago sealed up by some new building foundations. Considering this building was built-in 1888, that's not hard to imagine! The building has housed at least twelve different restaurants over its 120 year history and remains one of the least disturbed buildings on 25th street. Bistro 258 was opened in 2000, but since 2007 has been owned and operated by Nick and Devin Cash, a father and son who have always dreamed of owning a restaurant. Your water comes with their signature strawberries in the glass, and the menu features options for people of all tastes, from prime rib to pasta and salads. I have to rave about the quality of the seafood here. I've had the crab cake appetizer and the crab chunks were plentiful and tasted wonderful. The macadamia crusted halibut tasted fabulous and the sides, seasonal roasted veggies and garlic mashed potatoes, we're delicious. My husbands Sesame-Crusted Ahi Tuna was seared perfectly and delicious although he is going to ask next time if perhaps they could pepper crust it for him, instead of the sesame. Based on the great service we always received I don't think it would be a problem! Always listen closely to the specials or check the special board, often the chef has something fantastic and fresh to offer. You should expect to pay around $25 per person, more if you are ordering dessert or an appetizer, but for that you are certain to have a good meal. The Bistro offers Vegetarian and Gluten free choices as well. Last, but certainly not least, it's almost a crime to leave Bistro 258 without sharing a plate of Fuzzy Peaches. Bistro 258 is famous 'round these parts for this dish and once you try them you will understand why! Fuzzy Peaches are tempura battered flash fried peach halves served with a scoop of mango sorbet, a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, and drizzled with a raspberry sauce. It is a crunchy, sweet, creamy, delicious dessert that we have come to the Bistro to order on its own before. We have even heard of people who travel on front-runner all the way from salt lake JUST for the fuzzy peaches, not kidding folks, they are that good. The next time you are looking to impress, or just have a fantastic meal, give Bistro 258 a try!

Wonderful relaxing dinner. We had portobello mushroom stuffed with crab and seated ahi salad and enjoyed them immensely. Would definitely come back here.

Fabulous! If you are local be sure to visit bistro 258 often as their salads and bread change seasonally. Also every dish I've ever had here (Princess pasta, chicken Christine, and the New York steak) has been divine. Not to mention that the fuzzy peaches are something that no person should forego in his human experience. A+

One word.......HEAVENLY!!!!!! We went here for Valentine's Day and were absolutely pleased beyond belief! The ambiance was exactly what we were searching for, causal elegance! It was elegant but not pretentious but not too causal at the same time. They have blended both in harmonious perfection!!!! The service is impeccable, you don't feel rushed or forgotten, our server was David. The food........oh my! SO many gluten free options that I couldn't believe my eyes! I got the Christine Chicken, tomato basil bisque and crème brûlée! The chicken was out of this world and I loved the addition of the beets strings on top! The tomato basil bisque soup was divine and when I asked the server if it was gluten free he said yes, and then when he dropped it off he confirmed that yes it was that he had asked to make sure (mind blown) and the crème brûlée was out of this world and had that perfect crack on the top that when you tapped it, it's sound was a symphony to your ears! AMAZING! Money well spent!!!! The prices match what you get for sure!!!!! The owners of this place should be proud for sure! Well done! Bravo!!!

Favorite restaurant in Utah. This is the only restaurant I've gone to where (multiple times) I wish I had an extra stomach. Needless to say, I've boxed up the leftovers every time--and I've tried a lot of their entrées. Don't even get me started in their fuzzy peaches or cheesecake. Probably my only complaint is that the only location is in Ogden. Still, it's been worth the drive several times. We even take the kids (great job of handling kids in a classy joint, BTW). I highly recommend the place, and all my friends come back thanking me for the recommendation.

This is a great restaurant with a really cool atmosphere- especially the back patio in the summer! The fish tacos are the best in ogden. Service is usually very good. I like that they serve strawberries in their water- nice unique touch!

It was a nice sunny day. After having just swam in the Great Salt Lake, and being absolutely covered in salt, we needed lunch. Bistro 258 seemed to be a nice choice thanks to Yelp's Android App. This place is really nice! Great environment, atmosphere, and the food was really solid. Along with a super friendly waiter. Make sure you eat on the patio and enjoy that lovely Utah sunshine.

Ok wine selection, diverse menu but not overwhelming. Amazing salad: spinach, pecans, celery, red onion, green apple, fresh Ggouda and a great honey mustard vinagerette dressing. I had the blackened sesame, sashimi grade ahi tuna, served with a chili infused soy sauce. A very nice piece of tuna. I'm only in town for the week but I may be back Holy crap... The best cup of coffee I have ever had. John is a great server.

My wife and I have enjoyed many great meals at this restaurant for eight years. The food is excellent and the waiters are some of the best. The ambiance is nice and quiet. This is the restaurant we went to for anniversaries, graduations, etc. Their chocolate soufle is really good too.

I'm no numerologist, but I play one on Yelp! If you add up the numbers in Bistro 2+5+8 you get 15. Or, 1.5. According to the Law of Universally Insignificant Coincidences, that is also a reasonable Yelp! rating for this establishment. On food alone, Bistro 1.5 deserves at most a single star. I would never choose to eat there again or knowingly allow someone to subject me to their food. We decided to give them a third chance because of a Groupon: Many years ago we had a mediocre meal there. Two years later we left after waiting at our table for 20 minutes without so much as a wine sedative. Friday night, they were busy, and they seemed startled. We had a reservation, and we were seated with threats of bread and water. Some water was spilled near us, so perhaps that counts. One major issue with the Bistro is that it's, well, kind of dirty. When our bread arrived (still no water) one of the plates had a throbbing gobbet of crusty before-food on it. "Thanks for noticing it," says the bewildered plate bearer. "You betcha!" says I, "and have you noticed the greasy fog on the glass table top? I've been using it as an Etch-A-Sketch!" We ordered two entrees, one with a salad and one with soup du jour. The salad was the highlight. The soup, Manhattan Clam Chowder, came from the oil fields just outside of Manhattan, South Dakota. Shiny, oily, vegetable soup with rubbery roughneck clams lounging about in it. I had Morgan Valley lamb hunks with "Risotto Classico." The lamb was tasty and I send my thanks the frolicking little critters. Risotto Classico is no doubt what it says on the box, just under Kraft. It sat, a pinkish clump in the middle of the plate, immovable in its Classico-viscosity. The other dish was Black & Blue penne pasta: This concotion of steak nuggets, bleu cheese cream sauce, and balsamic destruction glaze ranks as one of the three worst things I've ever been unable to eat. My companion ordered it and finally had to remove it from her airspace. I hate wasting food and will eat anything, but not this. We left feeling black and blue from just a few bites. Beyond words, but I have uploaded a photo ... At least our server (once they decided to send him our way) was efficient and pleasant and eager to get us the hell out of there. He seemed to understand that quick resolution was in everyone's best interest. Although, he did remind us that tipping 20% was customary. I'm sorry, Bistro 90210, but as I relived my evening while typing this review I just got angrier. And considering the ridiculous gap between price and quality, the truth is you deserve only one star. But I've spent too much time with you already, so I'm leaving it at two. It's my break-up gift to you. That, and you should feel free to finish our pasta.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! My dad and I were in Ogden to go to a Weber State game, and I found this place here on Yelp. We came in pretty early, about 4 pm. We were the only people in the restaurant at the time, but the server was very friendly. He made us great drinks, helped us with the menu and made some great recommendations. My husband and I will DEFINITELY be driving up from South Salt Lake to come back!

This restaurant is interesting. The atmosphere is a little odd, the music wasn't very loud while we were there and there were only a few people there when we ate, so we had to speak softly to avoid others overhearing us. The prices were a little expensive considering the portion sizes. I got the blue and black penne, which was delicious, but I was hoping to take home leftovers (I didn't). My husband got the pork chop and loved it. The piece of meat was huge , but he was able to eat it in one sitting. We ended with the fuzzy peaches dessert because everyone around us got it. We didn't like it too much. The peaches didn't mix well with the fried batter in consistency or taste . It fell apart easily. I might go again just for that pasta, but probably not anytime soon.

This restaurant is a very enjoyable experience, and I highly recommend it. Ogden, while such a quaint city, doesn't offer as many unique eateries as some towns might, thus this swanky bistro is a breath of fresh air. The food is pricey and in smaller proportions, but purposely so. The service was diligent and patient. Our drinks (even the water!) stood-out with flair and pizzazz. I had the fruit salad, then enjoyed a filet with a side of their famous garlic mashed potatoes - both rewarding in their own ways. **I HIGHLY recommend you get a reservation, just to be safe.** Why? The size of the place is small, which translates into intimate and benefits the customers in the long run, but since we showed up on a weekend night it was a darn good thing we had a reservation. The food took a little extra time that expected to prepare, but I'm being picky at this point. All-in-all, we will be returning to this place.

Had the prime rib special and it was very good. Loved the au jus and the horseraddish sauce that accompanied the meat. The fuzzy peaches dessert was unique and quite tasty, as was the flourless chocolate cake. Tasty food, good service, neat space. All in all, an enjoyable experience.

Cute little place with vaulted ceilings and skylights. Entrees are simple and tasted fresh. They cost about $15-24/plate, and the meal comes with complimentary bread and butter. Some of the better meal-starter bread I've had in a while!

I was visiting Ogden for a wedding and tried Bistro 258 because it sounded good. I am glad that I did. The food seemed that it had a lot of thought and care put into it. The salad dressing was nice, the chowder was great, and the garlic mashed potatoes were yummy. All in all a very nice experience. It was a good value for good food.

Came here for an early mothers day dinner. The food is very consistent and always good. I had the lamb which was tender and seasoned well. The rest of the family had pasta dishes they enjoyed. Crab dip was good. It was served with chips, I wish they served it with a baguette. Disappointed the crab cakes have not made it back on the menu. Waiting for the fuzzy peaches as we speak.

One of my favorite restaurants on historic 25th street, Bistro 258 has never disappointed. I love the decor, and the staff is always friendly. I've had the Gorgonzola beef pasta, the macadamia nut halibut, and a steak. Noe disappointed. Be sure to save room for dessert. The chocolate souffle is to die for, and the fuzzy peaches are amazing.

I've been for dinner before and was very impressed. I went for lunch today and was so disappointed. My tea was not hot, at all. I had to ask for water 3 times and my order was wrong (I got rice instead of noodles). There was only two occupied tables. The food was good despite being incorrect and the fuzzy peaches of course were awesome!

I am puzzled by the glowing reviews this place has gotten. The atmosphere is nice enough, but the food is bland, uninspired, and downright mediocre. I give it two stars because it isn't actually bad; just underwhelming and overpriced. There is much better value and quality elsewhere in town (see my other reviews).

we came here for lunch one day on a weekday, we sat in the back where they have lots of window. It was bright and inviting. We ordered the fish taco and the Stawberry chicken sandwish, they are both delicious. The fish taco comes with lightly seasoned MahiMahi, some cabbage, tomato, cajun(looks like) rice, and some sauce. it was yummy. I was really happy with it, my cowoker's stawberry chiken sandwish looks good too, she enjoyed it very much also. overall, very satisfing meal, it was light and refreshing. I would definitely come back here agin.

Excellent food! A little pricey. The staff was great. We had our 18-month-old with us and the waiter was great with her. We went on a Friday night and we were one of three groups of people. I worry that they're not going to last. It would be a shame because the food is so good! I had a steak which was grilled to perfection. The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. My father-in-law had the "Black and Blue" pasta. It was penne in a white sauce with steak and a balsamic reduction. Delicious! Be sure to save room for Fuzzy Peaches!!!!

This is just an awful restaurant. I have been here with friend 5-6 times over the years. My experiences range from just ok to the one of the top five worst dining experiences. Oct 13 2012, the last time I went here, I ordered the prime rib because typically you can't get bad prime rib. Oh, I was wrong. With no exaggeration you couldn't cut this piece of prime rib with a knife it was so tough (and undercooked). Out of the 16oz cut there was roughly 3oz that could be eaten. On one of the very few times we saw our waitress she was told of the problem with the meal. Her response was, take the meal away and explain the "manager" would discount 50% of this meals cost. I had to hit a drive-through when I was done here. The kicker, not only was there no discount when I looked at my bank statement, they overbilled me by $20.00. So apparently I was charged extra for complaining about the meal. $97.00 for bread, water, and a dinner salad.

I've been here many times for business dinners and luncheons. I want to like The Bistro more since they seem to trying to bring a thoughtful, healthful, slightly upscale take on American bistro food with a Euro-style flair. But it has just been too unpredictable to count on the Bistro's dishes to please consistently -- or not be told that they are out of some dish or another (which has happened on several occasions). Service quality has been routinely hit and miss, too. But the place does have a nice vibe. I just wish I could gush about the food itself more than I can. I'd give The Bistro 3.5 stars if Yelp would let me. The Fuzzy Peaches dessert is enough to justify a visit.

Food was three star but I'm upping it one for the great service I've received every time I've been here. The waiters and manager (owner?) were very friendly and super accommodating with my toddler bringing a plate of extra strawberries, packets of fruit snacks, and crayons and paper. As far as food, the stuffed mushroom with crab appetizer was yummy. My husband enjoyed his lamb, but the Chicken Christine was overly salty, and I'm a girl that likes her salt. The fuzzy peaches were a nice ending to the meal.

My husband and I went to Bistro 258 for dinner for the first time. We started with ceviche as an appetizer. It was full of flavor and had just enough kick to get our taste buds ready for what was about to come. We both ordered Prime Rib as our entree. I can't remember the last time I had Prime Rib that was so tender and cooked to perfection. We ended with a Chocolate Soufflé for dessert. It was hot, rich and decadent! A sweet ending to a fabulous meal. Bistro 258 far exceeded our expectations. I didn't think there were any restaurants left in Ogden that new how to cook a steak but, they proved me wrong. I can't wait to come back and try something new or Prime Rib again! This definitely makes the cut as one of my new favorite restaurants!

I loved it! Been wanting to try for a while and wasn't let down! Had the lamb--DELICIOUS!!! My wife had the black and blue pasta--also delicious! The soup and salad were fantastic and so was the ceviche! Tried the fuzzy peach for dessert and was very happy. I will be returning again very soon to try the ahi and the halibut--as well as the chocolate cake!!!

Four buddies from SoCal on a ski trip to Powder Mtn and Snow Basin. Ate here on a Monday night. The food was good. We had the macadamia halibut, ahi, and a steak. Crab cake and scallop appetizers. The presentation was excellent. The attention to detail was good - I always appreciate being served on a hot plate. Atmosphere is very nice - historic brick building with high ceilings. Food and wine prices were very reasonable. Compared to most Ogden restaurants, this is a relatively sophisticated place. Service was attentive. For Ogden the wine list was very good, with reasonable prices. We had the Elderton Shiraz which I would recommend. The only negative was the chocolate souffle deserts. They were small and runny. Not up to the quality of the other food. Maybe just an off night for that dish. Overall, one of the best restaurants in Ogden, which is not a culinary hotspot. We would definitely go back.

I took my son here for dinner on his birthday. The snow/Christmas village pieces in the front almost scared me off but from that point forward it was a great dining experience. The staff was very friendly. The prices are very reasonable and the food was really good. I'll second a previous commenter and say the fuzzy peaches are fantastic. Somebody in your group must try them. Next time I'm back in Ogden I'll definitely try Bistro 258 again.

It was a nice enough place, although the tablecloths under the glass could use a good wash. We (Hubby and I) read the great reviews and decided to give it a try for lunch. We started with the Mexican ceviche and it was good, although a bit too much acidity for our tastes. He had the Black and Blue salad and it was pretty good, it was the best of all the things we ordered today. I had the Princess Penne and it was bland, and boring. Then to finish it off we were hoping to bump the star rating by ordering the Fuzzy Peach. It was good and if you don't like Mango sherbet, order it with vanilla only. All in all, it was just OK, and the prices were a bit high. I wouldn't go back unless we had a friend that was dying to try it.

In a state where the food seems to have absolutely NO flavor or spice what so ever, this unique little place saved my trip. We had sandwiches, appetizers, and salads, all of which were full of flavor and of very generous portions. What was even better were the prices-the food was dirt cheap.

This place is my favorite restaurant in Ogden! The patio during the summer is the best spot for an amazing meal, fried calamari (the best I've ever had), the summer salad (with fresh fruit and chicken) and a glass of wine, I couldn't ask for anything better. The atmosphere inside is also great! A must try in Ogden.

We lived in Ogden for 7 years and this amazing restraunt was our all time favorite for any occasion. Our last time there before we moved out of the state I had a tuna steak dish that left my mouth watering for days. This restraunt is truely one of the sole things I actually MISS about living in Utah. I have never taken anyone there and not had them absolutely love it. Definitely the best in Ogden... but I'm going a step farther and say I don't think there is anywhere in SLC that could beat them either. Great food, great staff, and great atmosphere all around. If we ever go back to that area to visit you can be sure this will be one of our first stops!

My parents took me and my wife here for my birthday last week and it was great. The ambience was cool and the food was outstanding. The fuzzy peaches were to die for - I'm not much of a dessert guy, but I'm glad that I got talked into this one. I suggest parking in the Marriott parking lot behind the restaurant.
