If you ever find yourself traveling through Monticello, UT go ahead and give this place a try. It's a great place for some wholesome, healthy grub in the middle of South Eastern Utah. Pancakes are delicious, the wraps are perfect for lunch and everything is handmade from scratch as far as I can tell. The inside space is a little cramped, but outside is delightful on a sunny day.

Super tasty smoothies and delicious salmon bagel! My husband ordered the smoked salmon bagel not realizing smoked salmon is raw and he decided to try it anyway and liked it! That's pretty huge! I ate the other half and it was awesome. Comes with lettuce, tomato, a tasty spicy mayo and purple onions with salmon and tortilla chips. Great gift options and love the outdoor seating!

Stopped here for coffee and a breakfast burrito while heading out of Monticello. Wonderful coffee and a delicious burrito! It seemed a little pricey ($8.00) but when I got it I understood, it's huge! Really tasty too. Well worth a visit!

We were delighted to find such an excellent restaurant in southern Utah outside of Moab, and within walking distance of a good campground. We had fish tacos and steak salad, both uniquely prepared and delicious. And good beer and local art were bonus in the Utah desert.

This place is a must visit if you are driving by. It is a cute little place. You can either get a smoothie or have an intimate meal with someone in the quiet back area. I highly recommend this place. I will be back next time I'm in the area.

If you're allergic to fast food there are not many places for you to eat in Monticello, UT, so it's a pleasure to come across a place like the Peace Tree. Nice sandwiches and wraps, good coffee and espresso drinks, nice ambience. We ate out on the deck under the trees on a very nice day. The ordering and paying process could use a bit more organization and eye contact as customers not knowing the protocol sort of mill about trying to figure out what they're supposed to do, but we survived as the disorganization was surpassed by the food and the beautiful day. While we were there, two groups of foreign visitors in 10-14 passenger vans stopped for lunch. With Monument Valley, Arches and Canyonlands so close, smart Europeans love this part of the US that they grew up with in John Ford and John Wayne movies. For sure, tour operators know the best places where there are so few, so the Peace Tree rates high on their list too.

Lovely oasis in a small town an hour or so from Moab. The food is delicious and the smoothies are to die for. The atmosphere is a bit hippy chic which I loved. They seemed a bit short staffed but we came first thing ion the morning. I would definitely come back if I drove by again.

We happened on this place while visiting Canyonland Needles area. There aren't a lot of choices in Monticello and this is certainly the "coolest" one of the bunch. A sort of hip, artsy place. Possibly the only place in town with an espresso machine? We had a nice lunch and the woman who waited on us didn't speak english terribly well, but was delightful and very attentive. The gift shop was pretty nice as well with some interesting things about the local area. We both bought something from the gift shop while we were there.

Shining star amongst a sea of Middle America mediocrity. Fresh, healthy food with fascinating combinations. Tasty fish tacos, great barista coffee, and even their t shirts are great! Try their carrot smoothie too.

Turkey wrap very bland. Thai wrap, too much sauce. Noodles hard or chewy. Not worth $9 each.

Great little cafe in the middle of no where! We split a breakfast panini with sausage. We were pleasantly surprised when they came to our table and split the meal onto 2 plates for us! I'm glad we did as I can't imagine finishing the entire sandwich and potatoes myself! Very tasty and freshly made! $8 for the meal. Highly recommend!

Veggie scramble and egg burrito hit the spot the morning after a long hike in Needles. The coffee/espresso is smooooth. Great stop in monticello!

The home mixed Juice drinks are superb - and the Southwest Chicken sandwich a win! This place is conveniently located on the Main Rd - fun decor and great staff.

This is a great place to stop and take a break during a long drive. We ordered some smoothies from the extensive list on the menu. I liked the decor and found the place to be a relaxing and cool escape before getting back in the car and continuing to Moab.

Excellent offerings out in the middle of nowhere! Fresh juices, smoothies, breakfast, and lunch: all healthy and savory. A definite stop every time!

I have experienced a lot better. I had lunch here on 05/07/14. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich. It was unremarkable and so hard you had to cut it with a knife. Although this is an expensive place to eat, I've had a lot better. Try others before you stop here.

Needing to stop and supply some nourishment to our traveled bodies, we searched for a place to do just that. We found The Peace Tree Juice Cafe, a wonderful little sandwich/coffee/gift shop! Our family enjoyed a club wrap, chicken pesto panini, quesadillas and turkey avocado wrap. The kids enjoyed Italian Sodas and we had sparkling water. The Peace Tree had lots of beverages to choose from. We sat out on the patio under the tree, until it started raining. We were finished so the rain started just as we were going in to get dessert to go. Wow, we all shared a giant slice of coconut cake and a brownie! They were wonderful! I wish we would have grabbed an extra coconut cake, it would have gone perfect with coffee in the morning. The Cafe is a bit Yoga/Hippie inspired, not your style of lunch...then check out K & A Chuckwagon right across the street.

This was about the only thing open on a Sunday morning. Food was great. Service friendly, even though they were slammed.

We wanted bbq from the chuck wagon but it's closed for the season so we ended up here. The panini was great! We shared a fresh juice (with kale) a panini and two cookies for 15 bucks.

Excellent lunch stop. I wasn't expecting an amazing philly cheese steak sandwich from this hippie looking spot but that's what I got. Coffee and smoothy were both as good as the sandwich. Highly recommended.

Won't make a grilled cheese for a child for breakfast - they have a healthy, although a bit un-kid friendly menu. They have grilled cheese on the lunch menu, it was 10am so I asked if they could make one (hmmm... hot grill, same bread as the morning toast and a slice of cheese - I don't think it's an outlandish request) - but no. Very good pancakes, fantastic bacon, only one 'flavor' of bagel and it came with the cream cheese already on it - which was a little weird for a restaurant? For the remote area it's FANTASTIC, if it were in city, I think they'd not make it.

Not a bad little hole in the wall. Had a tasty turkey panni. Would go back and have again.

After a hiking adventure in Canyonlands, the Peace Tree was exactly what I needed. The breakfast sandwich was solid, but I have to rave about the iced mocha. I am not sure what they do differently (it seemed as if blended chocolate covered espresso beans were mixed in?), but I was unbelievably disappointed that I only ordered a small. Fantastic!

Free wifi, and makes a great yogurt, fruit and granola breakfast. If you're looking for something like a bigger town's coffee shop, but with breakfast and smoothies, this is the place! And sitting outside as the sun rises, seeing the mountains and travelers driving by is very relaxing.

Peace Tree Juice Cafe ( peacetreecafe.com ) has 3 locations in southeast Utah, according to their business card. One is in Monticello (516 N. Main St.), another in Blanding (164 North Hwy 19), and finally one in Moab (20 South Main St. 435-259-8503). I think the Moab location may be re-building; I'm not sure what's happening because recently (3/2010) while walking down Moab Main Street, we came upon a vacant lot and chain-link fence, with a sign that said "future home of Peace Tree Juice Cafe." This may mean that they are building a new location while their old location is still operating, but I am unsure. Back to Monticello's Peace Tree: It is a free-wifi cafe that serves breakfast and lunch fare, in addition to smoothies, shakes, cookies, coffee, and tea. Also, they sell locally made silver jewelry, postcards, and gift shop items. When you first walk in you see the counter, menu, and a large 5-top round table; their is much more seating around the back side of the restaurant, so don't stress. Their Peanut Butter cookie is large, rich and delicious; I highly recommend it. On two different occasions, I have ordered two different paninis: Pesto Chicken Panini and the Turkey Bacon Avocado Panini. Each came served with a yummy macaroni salad. Their iced tea tasted a little over brewed; perhaps next time I will try a smoothie or shake. My husband tried the Thai Chicken Wrap and was pleased. We keep coming back because of the clean, colorful, interesting surroundings and the light fare on their menu. Of the few restaurants in Monticello, this one doesn't make you feel fat and guilty after eating there.

There are slim pickings for restaurants in the stretch from Moab, Utah, to Kayenta, Arizona, and the arrival of the Peace Tree Juice Cafe in Monticello has been a blessing to those of us traveling this scenic route. My wife and I stopped there the other day, just as we had while on vacation a year ago, and we enjoyed an excellent and moderately priced lunch from a friendly and welcoming staff. The wraps and salads are outstanding. The same goes for the cookies and a brownie that we bought for the road. If you have time, eat on the patio on a sunny day or inside on a rainy one. If you get the food to go, plan on stopping somewhere along the way because the wraps are so packed with food that they're difficult to juggle while driving. We highly recommend this restaurant and the terrific people who work there.

This place in Monticello was yummy! The dinner was terrific and properly portioned to split. We had the fish and steak with the best veggies and rolls. And their ice cream..so good! Service was nice. We will definitely go there again!
