If you love delicious food, great sassy service, and cute decor this is the place for you! While visiting Moab my husband and I stopped in for dinner. We were so impressed with the food that we stopped in again a second night. If you are there on days they offer the bbq ribs you cannot go wrong ordering them. My husband and I had them on our first visit and then had the fried chicken the next, which also did not disappoint. There is also a yummy fry bread accompanying your meal and nicely portioned sides. They have an impressive selection of beer which was very much welcomed after a day of hiking. There is also a small selection of homemade desserts. I ordered the German Chocolate Cake which did not disappoint. This restaurant is about four miles away from the center of town but it is well worth the drive.

This place was everything I hoped it would be based on previous reviews: Service was awesome, prices were very reasonable, and food was hot and delicious (especially the fry bread).

Based on previous reviews we thought this would be a hit but we were disappointed. Good service but food was just ok. The best thing we ate were the fried pickles. Those were amazing.

We were a party of four and were seated quickly and cordially. Melena, our server, was prompt, helpful, and pleasant. We selected a variety of items from the menu and we were pleased with the quality and quantity of the appetizer and meals. The Cowboy Nachos were excellent and could have been a meal for two. I would recommend them a meal. I took a chance on the Reuben and would rate it only a 7 of 10. This may be unfair since I rarely find a Reuben to match the expectations of a NY deli. One of our friends ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with the brown gravy and felt it was very good but a little salty. However, my wife had the Chicken Fried Steak with white gravy and it was outstanding, I know as I had a taste. The fry bread was very good and the beans were almost a bean chili. The vegetable beef soup was hearty and excellent. Our other friend had the ribs. She loved them and was very pleased. We were too full to try dessert and left food behind which is ver unusual for the four of us. A great dining experience but come hungry because you will be full when you leave.

My husband and I came here because it was across the street from The Spanish Landing RV resort that we were staying. The bartender, Melena was fabulous!!! She was very helpful in many ways. Thank you Melena!! The food was wonderful home cooked food!! I will definitely come back when we come here to visit again!!

Holy moly full plates!! After a long day hiking and eating little on the trails Susie's offered our group fresh salads, all you can eat fries, a 1/2 rack of ribs and a steak for a mega reasonable price with great service. If you really want a filling, all sorts of American meal this seems to be the place in Moab.

We had a great casual lunch here. The burrito special was delicious and the fry bread is to die for.

What a great place! Glad we came in. Portions are generous. Every thing was delicious and cooked properly. Rustic house salad came with the entrees and were great. My rib eye was delivered as ordered and so tender as to deserve to be called buttery. The waitress told me that they cut all there steaks here. We also had the bbq ribs, salmon and a burger which all received high marks. The fries were hand cut and good. As you will have seen in the other reviews, the fry bread was a real treat. Ambiance is country casual and they have a great back patio which would be great when things a bit cooler.

This spot is awesome. Food was delicious and the service was well above par. Meleni was our server. (forgive the misspelling) and when she said the Tuesday night Rib Special was good and the meat fell off the bone, she was right. One thing - the baked beans were a little meh. Needs more flavor. But the twice baked potato was perfect and you cannot beat Indian Fry Bread. Oh so f-ing good! Adam loved his Blue Cheese Burger. Jon loved his chili burger. I know this place is not in downtown, but if you just drive a few more minutes you'll be a happy camper. CANNOT BEAT THE PRICES!

It's a bit outside of Moab but worth driving out to if you enjoy burgers. Our group of 5 came in hungry and left fully satisfied. We ordered the lady burger, Swiss mushroom burger, chicken sandwich, fish and chips and BLT. That covers a large portion of the menu and for everyone to be happy with their foods says a lot about the quality. Service was equally good. Our server gave no qualms about our order and brought out our food promptly.

Wow. What a great place. We were there on Rib night. Every other night is either ribs or prime rib. The ribs were amazing. Everything is made from scratch. The waitress was super sweet. I think her name was Juana. She was super attentive and really sweet and great sense of humor. Chips and salsa were delicious. All made there. I had the German chocolate cake for dessert and it was very good. Not too sweet. Go there with an empty stomach and huge appetite cause it's a lot of food!

While on our trip to Moab, my fiancée and I weren't even aware this treasure existed until our last night in town. It's a little outside of town and sits alone away from the business district. Well worth the trip. This is a cowboy restaurant, serving western food at really good prices. My fiancée had the NY Strip, which wasn't so much a strip as it was a whole side of beef. Very large cut of meat. Very flavorful. It had been ordered medium rare but came out closer to rare. My fiancée wasn't going to make an issue, as the steak was delicious and she didn't mind it being cooked rare. The waitress, Marjorie, saw that the steak wasn't medium rare however and insisted on getting it right. So she took the steak back on a separate plate and five minutes later it was back and cooked the way it was ordered. Great service! I ordered the chicken fried steak with white gravy which was excellent. For dessert I had apple pie (better than mom's!) and she had the coconut cream pie, which she loved. If in Moab, you should definitely stop in!

Spectacular meal. I ordered a "Black and Blue" Flat Iron Steak that was perfectly cooked (we are visiting from the East Coast, where a rare steak no longer exists)! The Fry Bread was awesome and our server was great. Looking forward to another meal before we head back east.

After biking all day I can justify food that I would never eat otherwise. Susie's Branding Iron here in Moab is the best place to get that. If you're looking for healthy or light on the stomach food this may not be your best bet. The burgers are huge. I have never had a thicker patty in my life. There are so many fries on your plate it is almost depressing. If you're not absolutely starving, just get one entrée and share. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Like most places Moab it is locally owned and they display their pride and history around the establishment with awards and photographs of days gone by. While this may not be the most hip place to eat, you will be comfortable and served well. If you're in Moab for a few days I would try this place at least once.

Far from the town center but totally worth it. This place did not disappoint. My sister and I split a green Chile burger and a chicken fried steak. Green Chile Burger This burger was juicy, the spice was mild. I do prefer spicier but the taste was still good. Chicken Fried Steak w/ mashed potatoes. The steak itself was juicy and I had the white gravy on it that had plenty of flavor. The mashed potatoes were awesome. The texture and flavor were well above your normal boring mashed potatoes. The beans were also tasty and had some real ground meat in it. I can usually eat a lot but I couldn't even finish this meal after a day of hiking.

Traveling thru and saw this on Yelp and decided to stop. We were served by Amberlee and asked about the chili and instead of trying to explain it she offered us a sample; WOW it was tasty! So my Wife and I both ordered Navajo Tacos, for those who have lived in Texas/Oklahoma Carneys call these Indian tacos. The big difference here is this is a restaurant and hopefully the quality is up a notch. Tell you about it in a few minutes...oh boy was that good! Really fresh bread with quality chili and vegetables on top.

Great place for quality food! We had dinner here with our large extended family. Service was superior, food was awesome. Free refills on French fries!! Melena our server did a great job. Everyone was very nice. Thanks!! We will definitely be back!

I just finished the baby back ribs special. The entire meal was excellent. The service was great. I felt totally taken care of by our server, Shayla. The ribs were not just cooked, they were smoked - - big difference. There was a nice bit of smokiness in the air when they came to the table. I gobbled them down, along with the twice-baked potato. And to top off the meal, the fry bread with butter and honey made a worthy replacement for "dessert."

We came in right at closing. The food was great. Our waitress Roxie was amazing. We came in right at closing. She helped us with a smile and had great tips about the area.

  • Amber F.

Great prices, great no frills food-to top it off, one of the kindest and most attentive waitresses I have had in a long time. We got chili and Navajo tacos and everything was excellent.

  • Mahfuz A.

After waiting for over 10 minutes the waitress avoided us and took orders from the people who came after us. Tried to grab her attention, wouldn't even look at us. Passed us couple of times also. So we left the place. Really wanted to try this place cause we travel a lot and like to go to the local places. Never before faced racism like this before in any other place. Maybe the place is good, but they need to change their attitude.

I took a group of 40 people for dinner to Susie's. Linda, Melena and Shontee were excellect in getting our large group served very quickly, which is no easy task. All the food was great and I would definitely come back here. Baby back ribs were excellent! Thank you Linda, Melena, Shontee and Susie's!!

They charged me more than the tip we offer! We drive through Moab and had lunch there. It was around 50 after tax and we sign the receipt around 60. The credit card bill turns out to be 69 which is definitely not what we paid! The food is good, especially the fried bread. We were just very unhappy with the payment issue!

  • Amy N.

MUST GO!! My husband and I were from out of town and were very hungry! This was the best meal from our vacation! The food and portions were amazing! They hand make all their own desserts which are incredible. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The price was great and the atmosphere was fun! They even had fry sauce! You will not regret driving a few miles out of the busy main st.

Found this place on Yelp so thought we would try it! So glad we did - it was excellent!! Reasonably priced, huge portions and delicious! Would definitely go back there again!

We both had the chicken fried steak and it was excellent. As with our other visits to Moab, the service was excellent. There was a fellow busing tables, and greeting people; I wonder if it was the owner, since he was keeping a close watch on all the went on. We would normally not eat bread, but one of us allowed them to deliver the fry bread. It is fantastic! Would happily blow the diet on that again, with butter and honey.

  • Leonard D.

Excellent dinner. We both had the flat iron steak. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Homemade cut French fries just how I like them. ( I detest the fries many restaurants serve these days that come seasoned.) A good French fry only needs a little catsup. The fry bread was also very good ( with a little honey, of course).

Visiting from New York City, I wanted to try authentic western food, and this was the perfect fix! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I had the fried chicken, which tasted homemade. Though the meal was far more than just chicken... With it came a hearty salad, a vegetable, any form of potato, AND fry bread (which was fabulous)! Wonderful experience overall, would come again!

Old fashion country western themed diner. Also has a saloon style bar area attached. Good service. Straight up hamburgers, fried chicken, Frito's pie, french fries, apple cobbler, root beer floats, and a wide selection of beers. Not the healthiest food options, but sure does hit the spot after a day of hiking.

  • Laura H.

What a find!!!! Delish! The service was fantastic, the prime rib special was great! My favorite was the fry bread with the chicken fried steak... Nice enough decor not too fancy but good hometown style to match the food. Outside of town so no need to worry about parking... Really fair prices... Don't miss it!

Delicious, friendly, quick take-out! We stayed at the Moab KOA and called ahead for an order of chicken strips and a Pastrami Burger. Food was yummy, staff was helpful and friendly, and everything was ready to go for us when we arrived.

The prime rib special was excellent including the wonderful salad with fresh greens carrots small tomatoes beats peas and an excellent dressing. the twice baked potato and fry bread were over the top

All of the locals we talked to thought this was a great place. Probably tells you what you need to know about the cuisine in Moab. The prime rib and the ribs are reported to be wonderful. However the prime is only served on Wednesday and Friday or Saturday and they scoffed at us when we tried to order the ribs because everyone knows they are always out of those by 5:30. Since I didn't want a big steak I foolishly order the chicken fried. My sweetie's fried chicken was equally inedible. Good salad coleslaw and beans. Staff was lovely. So 5 star service and 2 star food

We stayed 4 nights in Moab and ate here on our second night. After hiking all day I was craving some fried chicken. Not some KFC type, but real homemade fried chicken. I found this place towards the back of the restaurant guide left in our motel room and when I saw fried chicken, we headed on down. I liked the fact that this place was a little out of town because we happened to be in Moab during the 2014 Jeep Safari and wanted to avoid the crowds of downtown. We were immediately greeted and given a table and the hostess took our drink order. Our waitress showed up with our drinks quickly and took our order. Our salads came out quickly and our food wasn't too far behind. My girlfriend got her food a few minutes before I did and I was politely notified it was because the fried chicken needed another minute. No biggie. I forgot our waitresses name, but she was an older gal and real nice and sweet. My fried chicken was cooked perfectly. Moist and juice on the inside and a nice crunchy crust on the outside. For my potato, I stuck with fries and they were really good. I never did get a change to eat my corn, but I was stuffed with the chicken, about half the fries, and the fried bread. My girlfriend ordered the flat steak. She likes her meat well done. To a lot of places this means cook the shit out of it. No, this place cooked it perfectly. They were able to cook the steak to a perfect well done temperature while still maintaining a tender juicy steak. Her sides included the mashed potatoes with dark gravy and the beans, along with the fried bread. She said everything was excellent. The only bad thing is our waitress accidentally switched our bill with another couple who had a couple of kids. Our bill was $30 and theirs was $50. The asshole tried to pay real quick trying to basically steal by paying less than what he owed. Nice way to be an example to your kids. When caught, his wife being upset stole her drink cup. Everything worked out in the end. After we left, we were wondering if he would have gotten away with stealing if the money would have come out of the waitresses earnings. That's a pretty shitty thing for this customer to do after she busted her butt taking care of you for an hour. We will be coming back to Moab in the future and will definitely be coming back.

I didn't expect a whole lot based on the 3.5 star average review, but the place was packed on Friday night with what looked like a mix of locals and visitors. The 16 oz prime rib special was excellent--tender and medium rare. I might have gotten lucky... My cut had an extra large portion of delicious ribeye cap (that extra dark ring of fatty meat that wraps around the middle part). :) I liked the fry bread. Flat iron steak was also good. It came out too rare at first, but the waitress graciously had it redone and brought it back with all new sides. (More fry bread, yay!)

  • Mike T.

After a hard day of bike riding I needed a place like this. Totally chill joint with mostly a local vibe. I had the prime rib and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Everyone else really enjoyed their entrees as well. Great little local spot in Moab.

The best comfort food in Moab hands down! I've been living here for 5 months now and Susie's has always come through when I'm hungry. I've tried most of the menu by now, from fish and chips to the pulled pork sandwich. Best items to get are the ribs, chicken fried steak or steak sandwich. All entrees are filling and not overly priced which is unusual for the area. If you can't stand country music and are looking for a light meal, then Susie's isn't for you. The Bud Light is always cold and cheap. Whenever I have friends visiting, they are very impressed with everything at Susie's. Just a great old fashion American restaurant in Moab.

Great service. Delicious Lady Burger. Large portions so should have had our girls share meals. Gorgeous view. Inside of restaurant was beautifully decorated with antiques. Ladies bathroom was clean and smelled amazing!

One of our best meals. Like going home to moms for great home cooking. Great flat iron steak. Great beans. Hubbie had patty melt and he said it was best ever. And he's picky. Friendly and comfortable place. Fantastic German chocolate cake just like momma made!

We have come to Moab for twenty years on vacation. The Branding Iron was always a great place for prime rib. About two years ago the quality really went down. This year one of the people at the motel said the original owner got the place back. We tried it and it was fabulous. The prime rib was great and the fry bread is a real treat. Will definitely be back next year.

If you need some comfort food, this is the place. Service was exceptional. Food was delicious. Chicken wings, fried chicken, fry bread, all great.

  • Rob S.

Service is very good and the food is excellent. The prices are very reasonable. My 16 oz ribeye with 6 shrimp was $24. That included a salad, baked potato, vegetable and fry bread. The fry bread is very much like an English Yorkshire pudding. The staff is friendly. The decor is very simple.

Ate here last week. The steak was perfectly cooked the way I like it and was very tasty. The waitress, I wish I could remember her name, I wanna say Jane. Anyway an older lady, who had great energy, super attitude and friendly and hardworking, was exceptional. The establishment was clean, lively and inviting.

    (4)
  • Ken S.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Food was hit or miss. Prime rib special was very good. Chili was just flavored beans...needed more chili powder, garlic, onions and beef. French fried were limp and under seasoned.

  • Kenneth R.

Good food and service. After a week of eating at the other places, this was a very welcome change. Next time we are in Moab, we will definitely be stopping in!

The slight drive was worth it. We came in over Memorial Day weekend with a group of 10. They were able to seat us and got all of our meals out timely and correct. The live music was a stretch, but it was fun. The ambiance was fun and it felt like a great home cooked meal in a relaxed setting.

    (4)
  • Nathan B.

Hit and miss. The cooks were good tonight. Chicken fried steak great, but the steaks weren't really cooked to order. Awesome fry bread but orders and sides were goofed up. Edie is the tacky, older waitress. Her service ruined our experience.

    (2)
  • Jack R.

I can't comment on the taste of the food. I can say that it looked good going bye our table for an hour! After the second table of people who arrived after us was served, we left. I believe the blame lies with our waitress, not necessarily a systemic issue.

    (1)
  • Amado G.

Pleasently surprised! Food was great and service was excellent. By the time we were done eating we were too stuffed to have dessert even though we were very tempted. I would come again. We had steaks along with their famous fry bread and they were very good.

    (4)
  • Kerry S.

Our service was good. Girls were nice, friendly and attentive. However, this was the single worst chicken fried steak I have ever had. It was really hard like a piece of wood and fairly tastless as were the potatos and gravy. The fry bread (really a scone, not a fry bread at all) was the best part of the meal.

    (2)
  • Lee D.

We'll give it 2 stars because the fry bread was good. The 20 dollar steaks were the fattiest, poorly cooked pieces of "meat" I ever had at that price. It literally took 20 or 30 seconds to saw off each bite. Sauces are commercial. Nachos were bland and looked like they were covered in the cheapest store-bought chili possible. If you like decent fry bread served in a cement echo-chamber this might be the place for you. Otherwise its too far out of the way, too expensive, and too bland.
