I'm from Texas. I love my Tex-Mex and some heat. Been on a 2.5 month road trip in Canada and Alaska. I've been in desperate need of both. (There is neither up north.) This satisfied on both accounts and more! Great food, great tea, great ambiance, great service! Can't go wrong!!

Fair warning: food (salsa, etc) was more spicy than most Mexican restaurants I've been too. Just factor that in! Mexican food a little more on the authentic side. Chile relleno and enchiladas were great. We went there for lunch and did not have to wait. There was plenty of food on each dish. And the service was good too.

Overall: Food is authentic Mexican. Lots of choices for all diets. I judge a good Mexican restaurant by their salsa and beans. They were both great Bar: lots of choices. We had mango margarita and it was very nice Food: great food and large portions. Ask for their spicy salsa. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent! Salsa was spicy and such a fresh summery taste. We shared a Deluxe chicken Nacho plate and it was more than enough for us hearty eaters. Topped with loads of chicken and two cheeses melted perfectly. Sprinkling of chopped tomatoes and green onions complimented with guacamole and sour cream. The beer came with frosty cold mugs. Definitely recommend.

Great food, great environment, great people! It was a memorable dinner for us in Moab.

Great restaurant. Had supper here while visiting with family. This was our first time to dine here. Service was great. Salsa was superior. Food arrived quickly after we placed our order. It was hot and well presented. Our server was attentive to our needs. We all agreed we would eat here again.

The food was good traditional Mexican. We had the Enchiladas Suiza and they were yummy. My son had the tacos and was hsppy.

Delicious chicken burrito and awesome salsa....nice and hot!!!! With a good sangria! My husband had a burrito which he said was delicious!

Outstanding and affordable Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is casual, clean and they keep the outside tables cool with a mist. The portions were large and delicious. The service was excellent. We had margaritas and they were great too. I highly recommend this place.

We haven't been too the southwest in ages so we had a craving for it when we cane ro Moab. Not exactly southwest but it seemed close enough. After finding all the other higher rates places either shuttered or closed on a Monday we went to the Family Fiesta. It was a big letdown. On the good side, the margaritas are tasty and have plenty of tequila. Unfortunately, they are way overpriced. The good is bland at best. I had a combo with enchilada, taco, and tamal. The chicken filling in the taco and enchilada had no flavor at all. The sauce on top was little better. I asked for some hot sauce which helped but good Mexican need to have more than just heat. My wife's mole was the creme de awful. Stay far away. There is some really good canned mole out there so there is no excuse for what showed up. It's like they took a mediocre canned mole, watered it so much it had no flavor then....then, added sugar! It almost tasted more like teriyaki sauce than mole. It's like they thought that surely nobody who showed up has had mole before and wouldn't notice. Two stars is probably generous give the mole but the margarita tasted good.

This place was a great experience overall. The host was very friendly and I got chips and salsa faster than I could blink. I think they actually forgot about taking my order because I sat there for a really long time before someone came over. When my waiter came over, he was so friendly I actually wanted to ask him to sit down and chat for a while. He asked where I was from and even gave me a map with directions to a 'secret' local spot with a waterfall. When traveling/dining alone, it's always nice to have conversations so I really appreciated this. The food was also phenomenal, I had the Carne Asada. They set me up with everything I needed with my to-go portion. Definitely a great dining experience. Will go back when I am in Moab again!

Surely there is somewhere better to eat. Bland food. Kind of greasy. Nice people. Fair service. Extensive menu.

This has got to be the worst Mexican meal I've ever had. I ordered a three-item combo with a chili relleno, a tamale and a beef taco. The taco meat was utterly flavorless, so much so that I kept inspecting it, thinking I was missing something. Sorry, taco, it wasn't me, it was you. It was also sitting in a puddle of water, which I assume (and hope!) was just from the abundant, overzealous heaping helping of lettuce having just been rinsed. The tamale, though a bit on the dry side, was acceptable. The relleno, OTOH, was a grease-soaked mess! And oddly enough, although they offer a crispy relleno plate on the menu, you can only get a soft (apparently marinated in grease) relleno in a create-your-own combo. My buddy ordered the carne asada, and it was little more than odd, large sheets of barely seasoned meat with some very slim pickings to go along with it - a little guacamole, some beans, a few tomatoes, and that was about it. Unfortunately, this capped off a less than stellar gastronomical tour of Moab. Besides getting decent and reasonably priced breakfast meals at the Moab Diner, the rest of our stops were bitter disappointments. Next time through I'll just have to pick a whole new slate of restaurants to try.

I'm not really a fan of Mexican food however when some friends and I were walking around Moab looking for a place to eat on a Sunday evening which didn't have a 45-60 minute wait we were happy to find this place had open tables. I was also happy that in addition to a wide variety of Mexican food I was happy to see that they also have a burger combo for kids and Gringo's. That's what I got and it wasn't bad. My friends who ordered Mexican food were all happy with what they got and their portions are huge! Servers were friendly and the service was quick which was another bonus!

I ordered the kids bean & cheese burrito for my 3 year old. The waiter brought a huge smothered burrito and said "oh I guess they made the wrong thing" and started walking off. I asked for a quesadilla in it's place and he took the old plate and just chucked it in the nasty food bins by our table. They were overflowing and there was mashed up food and chips all over the floor. Disgusting. This place is so dirty. And the food was bad. And the waiter was so angry and rude. And now my husband feels sick after eating there. If your entire business is to make food and serve it to people, and you majorly do that wrong, that only says you don't care and you rely on innocent tourists to come to your restaurant. Don't fall into the trap!!!!

One of the best Mexican dinners I've ever had. The Patron margarita was absolutely perfect and the food was excellent. My only compliant was that my burrito fajita had waaay too many onions in it. But other than that, this was an excellent dining experience.

They say the rookie mistake at Mexican restaurants is to fill up on chips and not be able to eat your meal. Well, that's an easy mistake to make here. Portions are huge, and you won't leave hungry. I had the Talpiquena, which is shrimp and steak covered with melted cheese. It was all perfectly cooked and delicious, and they include lots of rice and beans. They also give you a whole stack of tortillas. That's in addition to the previously mentioned chips. The service wasn't overly friendly, but it was very efficient and attentive. My waiter was always keeping the water full and made sure I had whatever I needed. Location is perfect if you're just staying in Moab for a night or two. It's right on the main drag, a few blocks from most of the hotels.

Worse Mexican food ever tasted - NOt clear how they got a title of Best American Food. The it can claim - are the names of the food as authentic. The food does not resembel Mexican food. My background is growing up in Arizona , New Mexico. I have about 3 meals I use to judge places. Today I had Chicken Mole enchiladas. Who ever the chef is - does not know what Mole is and how to make it. Perhaps it is from a can - which most store boughts taste better. It was as if they took Mole sauce - thinned it down and added some sweet sauce. Absolutely horrible. My wife had the Chicken Chimi - meat was very dry. The one item it is hard to believe they screwed up - The chips were cold and burned. Looks like their business model is to sell MArgarita's

Excellent place with good high quality food and very attractive prices. Highly recommend and will come again for sure. We ate at Fiesta Mexicana three times and each time ordered something different; each time we enjoyed our meals and services. The only problem with this place is that food is really good, portions are big, and prices are low; so it is very easy to stuff yourself. One of the favorite places and highly recommend it to everyone who wants to eat good food at a nice place with character.

Portions are huge here and so are the margaritas!! Carne Asada burrito was delicious and well worth the price! This place left us full and satisfied after a few camp meals.

  • Dan H.

Meh. Heard they had the best margaritas in town so we went by for a mid-day pick-me-up. The liquid within the margaritas was pretty good...however, it did not last very long because it was filled to the brim with ice. They are advertised as 18 oz. - take that to mean: ice: 15 oz., booze 3 oz. Oh, and they are $9.50. We ordered some guacamole as well - everything was well and good until we got 1/2 way through it to find lettuce stacked on the bottom to make it look like you got a lot! What a bunch of shysters!! That is so unsat! Not impressed.

We stopped in here on our way through Moab because it was right next to our hotel, and it was pouring down rain, so our options were limited. The margaritas are delicious. However, they're also tiny. They're served in a giant glass, but it's mostly ice. Three of them at $10 each should get you pretty tipsy though. The food is great. I'm not Mexican, or spanish, or latin-american, or any of that, but I know what the things that I put in my mouth taste like, and the burrito I ordered was delicious. Service was friendly, but a little slow, and we had to wait for a seat because even though they had open tables, they did not have the staff on hand to seat them. Still, over all, I'd say give it a try!

We walked into town and were looking for some takeaway that we could carry back to our room. There are quite a few Mexican joints in town and this one fit the bill. We knew the portions would be large so we ordered a meal to split. The Giant Burrito which came with rice, beans, salad, sour cream and guacamole. Though we had takeout, we were also given a large bag of corn chips and a tub of salsa that had a real kick! The meal was fine and was enough for us to share, particularly with the corn chips. It wasn't the best Mexican I have ever had but it tasted fine. For less that $13, it was decent value.

Sitting here wishing I wasn't here and had made my own Mexican food. #touristtrap the food was bland and over priced. I'm amazed people rate this beyond 1 star. Womp womp

This is probably the worst Mexican restaurant I have been to. Maybe even the worst restaurant in general. The food was flavorless. Do a favor yourself, stay away from this restaurant.

  • Jayni B.

Nothing special here Sub par food and service. We ordered two meals. Queso fundito was a plate of grease. Was not edible! When I said I didn't want it the waiter looked ate as if I was crazy for not wanting to eat grease soup masked as cheese. We also ordered the enchilada de la fiesta. It was okay. Edible and okay. There are so many options...choose something else.

    (2)
  • Jim M.

Your typical plate of Mexican food that all looks the same. I hate places that serve you margaritas in a five pound glass so it feels like you are getting a lot when most of it is glass and ice! They are much better than miguel's baja grill on the main street though!

  • Laurie O.

Don't bother! Go somewhere else. My husband had the taco combo. He got about 2 tbs of beans and the rice was tasteless. I had the deluxe taco salad. Nothing deluxe about it! Nothing authentic or great about this place. Disappointed

Of our four meals in Moab, this was the best by a good margin. Giant portions. I got the fajitas and my wife got a bean and cheese burrito. Both were great. You also get complimentary chips and salsa to start off with. The salsa is good with a slight kick to it. No complaints at all with the food Our food came out very quickly. The wait staff was nice and everyone we walked past on our way out thanked us for coming. Great experience overall.

Great service but the food was horrible. We ordered the queso and it was the worst queso I've ever had. Was looking forward to my meal of enchiladas creama and it was extremely blan. Definitely won't be going back for anything but margaritas anytime soon.

Great food, amazing service. I really enjoyed my chicken fajitas and ice cold tecate beers!

DON'T EAT HERE! This place is anything BUT their advertised 'Authentic'. The waiter behaved as if we were bothering him, my veggie burrito had a frozen vegetable mix in it with peas, and my son's Super Burrito had a ground beef in it that resembled dog food in texture and taste. STAY AWAY and don't waste your money.

Perhaps camping out in the sticks for a while made me more inclined to appreciate any meal indoors, but I think thought was genuinely very good Mexican food. I had the beef fajitas. Portions are large. They have a good amount of space and seem to be less crowded than the perennially overflowing Moab Brewery.

We stopped into this place late on a weeknight in the offseason. To our surprise the place was over 1/2 full and very lively. We asked to be seated at the bar - not realizing that the bar actually had no bar stools - instead we were just seated at a table in the bar area. No big deal really. All of the wait staff and servers were very attentive and fast. They seemed to enjoy their jobs and were very upbeat and friendly. The service here was probably the best we encountered in Moab. 5 stars for service. My BF and I started our meal off with a couple of margaritas. We both had simple house margaritas but they were surprisingly good for being house branded. The kicker was that they were $10/each. Seems pretty high priced for lower grade alcohol, but they were good tasting nonetheless. I'd rate the drinks as 4 stars due to the high price. As is tradition with my BF and I, we decided to share a main course, partially due to the fact that we had ate a considerable amount of the tasty chips and salsa that are complimentary. We selected the pick 3 combo and chose chicken burrito, chicken enchilada, and chicken chimichanga. The food took less than 10 mins to arrive at our table and it was piping hot. Very good presentation of the food as well. To our dismay, the food was all rather bland and quite frankly, it all tasted the same. The enchilada had no sauce on it which basically made it a chicken burrito. The burrito itself was large in size but short on taste. I ended up asking for a cup of salsa to add to the burrito for a little flavor. The chimichanga was hardly discernible from the burrito. Same exact taste and very little difference in texture. All in all it was not a bad meal, but it certainly could use improvement. I'd rate the main dish as a 3.5 star. Probably would only go back for the great margaritas, but at $10/each, the price may scare me off in the future.

Wife and me both had the taco plate it tasted fine but also like the Old El Paso taco kit you buy at the supermarket over half of the items on the menu are American Service was ok This place seems to cater to train tourists from back east Prices were economical

Uninspired Mexican food. Nothing ordered was better than fast food. Service was like you were bothering them by comming in. We had 2 people serve us and both acted like this. The margaritas are mostly glass and light on liquor ( yes in know it's Utah ), Nothing great here and expect there maybe better options in Moab . I would not go back.

We just ate here and this place rocks. Following was our order. Appetizer was beef enchiladas, My daughter ordered seafood tostada, my son ordered steak burrito and my wife and I ordered veggie fajitas and they all came out excellent. Bill was reasonable (around $70 with 2 coronas) . Service was excellent. I don't know why some people are unhappy. Definitely visit again. P.S. Food portions are very large so beware. Also not to mention their chips and salsa are very authentic. BTW we are from New York and my son from DC.

I have had a hard time finding good Mexican food that is better than the stuff I can make at home. This place put together a good fajitas for vegetarians with a great mix of veggies. The free chips & salsa are super with a nice amount of heat. The wait staff could be bit more friendly. Friends ordered the burritos & they are huge. We biked all day & they couldn't finish them. Two meals for sure, I have never seen so much food on a plate.

SKIP! I ate here with my husband and our two-year old daughter on a Sunday afternoon. Food: The chips and salsa served gratis was possibly the shining star of the show. It surely got our hopes high. We ordered the veggie combo (enchilada and burritos), veggie chalupa, a side of fries, and a pineapple juice for the baby. The fries were fresh and the juice (probably from a bottle) was good. But the rest of the food was completely passable. Everything was over salted because all the veggie dishes consisted of the same pinto beans. Not good! The veggie combo was served with mexican rice (OK), beans (very salty), and a salad (questionable purple cabbage slaw, which was tasteless) - no sour cream or salsa or guacamole accompanied the dish. However, the chalupa was the worst - the shell reeked of stale oil. We took one bite and put the plate away. Pretty disgusting. Ambiance: Cute southwestern decor which I liked. Service: OK. The people were friendly and polite, and we were seated promptly. However, even when the servers saw our food was mostly uneaten, they did not bother to ask why. Hmm...maybe they already knew the answer? Value for money: None. I'd eat somewhere else.

It's a Mexican restaurant. It wasn't greasy greasy but you know the chicken and beef where flavorful. Drinks are a bit expensive. Really clean. There were friendly and the music was fun. What more do you want?

After a long drive, we were excited to stop in Moab for some food to refuel and relax. The food was subpar at best and the service was absolutely awful. My order was totally wrong. Edgar was working the front desk and I honestly can't remember the last time someone at a restaurant was so rude. No matter how hungry I was, I'd rather drive another 3 hours to the next town than stop here.

  • Kathy B.

We chose this place because our B&B owners said it wouldn't take long to get a table. Most places in Moab are usually jam-packed. We did have to wait about 15 minutes for a table. We ordered our beers, the waiter is so fast there, food came quickly too. My husband had a Seafood Tostada which was loaded with large shrimp, scallops, etc. It looked so good. It was a huge salad. I had the Chile Relleno Crispy and there were two huge chile rellenos, way too much to eat with beans and rice as well. All the food was super delicious and service was fast and excellent. The chips and salsa to start were also delicious and plentiful.

Decent Mexican food, large portion sizes and looks authentic enough. Our waiter was friendly and chicken enchiladas were great.

    (3)
  • Rafael G.

Disgusting food, and that being kind. Surely the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Tacos al carbon: meat was tough and tasteless. Tortillas were soggy. It is pretty obvious the plate was simply microwaved before being served. Steak al Chipotle: steak? Sure! Some sort of low quality, poorly cooked skirt steak that was so tough it was inedible. The sauce had nothing to do with chipotle. The dish was smeared with some rice and some beans, and a slaw that was warm from sitting on top of the microwaved beans. The presentation was sloppy and rather revolting. Top it all off with really high, undeserved prices and you have an experience bound to cause some serious indigestion. Seriously, save yourself from a very unpleasant experience. Stay away.

  • Marcus S.

The food was not bad it came in a timely manner they have a fly situation that distracted from the restaurant and boy it is pricey $7 for a kids drink it's a bit much specially when they don't mention it and is not a free re-fill... Not coming back

  • Bobbie M.

What can say?? Nice atmosphere on the covered patio. Food was about a four. We ordered the veg fajitas (ordered the veg, fajitas because of the veg, mixture and asked that they add beef) They did for $9 extra (lol) tasty but way overpriced. Asked that they wipe off our table when we first sat down. He said ok sure but that never happened. Margaritas were over $9 each and all ice. The wait staff was abrupt to the point of borderline rudeness. Try something else in Moab. I wouldn't go back.

This was our first time. The servers were nice, food came quickly. Large portions, super hot, great menu selection. The hot salsa had a kick. Only downside was no green chili. Overall a very nice experience.

This was our third time at Fiesta Mexicana and the food has been consistently very good. The service is prompt and courteous. I had the Fiesta Grande combo plate which let's you choose three items from quite a few options. Very large portion! Husband had the fajita burrito and he finished every bite. We almost always eat at off peak times so I cannot say how service might be if the place is packed.

  • C L.

We love Fiesta Mexicana! They have very authentic Mexican cuisine--not the ubiquitous tex mex style most people are used to. The enchilada suiza was excellent, and my husband's fajita burrito was awesome. The margarita I ordered was huge, and delectable as well. We love the atmosphere at Fiesta Mexicana; it's warm and family-friendly, and the wait staff is always really cheerful and welcoming. We will definitely return to our favorite Mexican eatery. We actually first discovered them 3 years ago in Page, AZ (it seems like they have about 7 restaurants throughout UT and AZ), and we've had a great team each time we've been back to one of their establishments.

  • David T.

This restaurant was not the best nor the worst. The chips and salsa were very good, salsa was a little spicy but had a very nice flavor. My son and I both had beef fajitas they were very well done, actually burnt. The rice and beans were good. The wife had chicken enchiladas that were good. The staff did a good job with special orders.

Five stars. Dank a$$ Mexican food. The music is great. Food is great too. In case you were wondering, it is a fiesta. Pro tip: order the margarita light on the ice; see you on the other side.

Terrible. Salsa terrible. Cheese and onion enchiladas terrible. Chips terrible. Service terrible. Cleanliness terrible. It's a shame for Moab to have a terrible place like this. This ain't Mexican food. It's just terrible.

The best salsa ever! We bought extra to take with us for the remainder of our trip. It was very fresh tasting and nice and spicy. :) yum yum. The Enchilada plate was INSANELY huge. We took most of it home and split the leftovers between the two of us for lunch.

    (4)
  • Svelte S.

Really not too bad. I had a mixed seafood dish, ended up with leftovers to bring home. Nice chips and salsa, nice wait staff, quick service. Will be here again.

  • Carol S.

Service was quick but that was the only positive. Portions were large but my shrimp enchilada had only 5 shrimp. It should have just been called a veggie enchilada. The queso tasted like it just came out of a jar. The beef tacos were so greasy that the shells were mushy when they arrived at our table. On top of it all, everyone experienced stomach upset.

  • Brenda P.

If you like spicy salsa, this is your place! I love spicy salsa, and I just couldn't get enough of theirs. So good! The store bought chips are a bit of a disappointment, but load them up with this fabulous fresh salsa and you really won't care. My husband and I both ordered the Fiesta Grande plate; three entrée selections plus rice and beans. Hubby ordered a cheese and onion enchilada, a ground beef burrito, and a chili relleno. I ordered a cheese and onion enchilada, a ground beef taco, and a pica (shredded beef) sopito. The cheese and onion enchiladas were heavy on the onion, and the cheese never got hot enough to melt. While the flavor was good, it would have been so much better with melted cheese. The taco had good flavor, but the shell was not made in-house. It was another store bought item. The sopito shell was very soft and flavorful, not dry at all. A pleasant surprise. The ground beef burrito actually looked like a beef enchilada, but it was definitely a flour tortilla. Hubby said it was "fine". The chili relleno was the star of my husband's plate. It was a soft egg shell with a full cheese stuffed chili. Delicious. We both ordered a margarita, but didn't tell the waiter we would prefer the smaller size. The drinks he served were large and of sufficient strength to help you relax after a long day in the car. The price was a bit steep at almost $9.00 per drink, but they were very good. We are from the Denver area, were you can't throw a rock without hitting five family owned Mexican food joints. We are not necessarily experts, but we've had a fair share of Mexican food. We love it and eat it at least one to two times weekly. While this restaurant met the Mexican food craving while traveling away from our local favorites, it was more in line with a "franchise" or "chain" restaurant. The place was quite large, with seating for about 100,000,000 and was missing the "family owned" feel we so much enjoy at our local haunts. We would probably go back if we were in the area again, and couldn't find any other options, and just had to have killer salsa and a good margarita.

    (3)
  • Johnny P.

We did not enjoy our meal. It was bland, lukewarm and the service was very mediocre and we felt very rushed. The chips were a bit stale and the salsa was average. We don't recommend the queso fandido, we didn't like it at all. We took one bite and left it. We'll explore other Mexican restaurant options on our next trip to Moab.

    (2)
  • Mary Jo S.

Not bad but not great. The chips were good but the salsa OK and the beer cold and served with a lime. I had a chili rellano which is prepared soft the way I like it but this one was a bit spongy, the pepper was wonderful The husband had arroz con pollo and it agreed that the peppers in the meal were good but everything else was OK. I can see how this would be a popular place with those not too familiar with Mexican food and want a good introduction with a good margarita.

Twelve of us made a reservation for dinner on Oct 8th. Got our first drink and a bowl of chips right away but that was about the end of the service. Could not get a second drink and some in the party had to go get their own. After an extra long time the server came to take orders. After a longer wait food came out. Well, at least the others did! After all but two of us were eating I asked the server where my food was and he asked what I ordered which was one of their restaurant specialties. The server never came back with any food and when asked a second time, the same response, "what did you order?" I just walked out pi... off after telling him to cancel my order. After dinner I heard others in the group complain that the food was poor, barely hot and one in the group mentioned that he was close enough to the order window and had to listen to the sever using profanity while placing orders as though he was upset that customers even came in. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere there's service. Like Burger King or McDonalds! This place needs help.

Very disappointing. Honestly, that was the worst tamale I've ever had. The corn texture on the outside was thick and bland. I guess my taco and burrito were okay. This is the kind of place where when you order rice and beans with your meal, the beans are not really beans. Instead, it's that gooey liquid bean paste. The prices are high. A skimpy bowl of complimentary chips to start. There's got to be a better Mexican place in Moab. I won't be back.

Very good service and overall a good experience. Green enchiladas were yum, and all of the entrees we had were good. Ask for the special hot salsa they make on the premises. Sit outside - it is lovely and the mist makes it feel cool and perfect.

I've been going to FM for years now, and I've never been disappointed. I just revisited this mostly traditional Mexican restaurant after a long river trip. We all had to drive home so we could not enjoy the cocktails that I have always like there, but as usual, the service was solido, and the food was excellente! I was the first to arrive and ordered the Nachos, which disappeared faster than a spring snow in Moab, and after we had our HUGE meals, I don't think there was any food left on any of our plates (and at 190, I'm the lightest of our group!) I ordered Chili Rellenos, a dish of usually egg-battered and fried chili pepper, stuffed with cheese (relleno = filled or stuffed in Spanish--actually, re-filled, but you get the idea). If you're not familiar with Rellenos, they can not only vary greatly in style and prep, but in quality. It was a risk, but I was willing to roll the dice after eating camp food for weeks. It was so delicious, I ordered another one ala cart. Everyone was happy with their meals, the service was top notch, parking was easy, and I felt fueled all the way home.

This place was so disappointing, I had to share my experience. Two prawns still had the legs on them, in my prawn fajitas. When I pointed this out to the server, he said they're served that way but asked if I wanted something else. I let it go, cause I did not want to make a stink -- But obviously.. I was lied to as the other prawns were all legless -- The way they're supposed to be served. One of the pieces of chopped tomato still had the "belly button" on it -- Where the stem attaches. This combined just grossed me out, as it was obvious to me the food was not cleaned or prepped properly. The rice had no flavor and there was hardly any cheese on my refried beans. Lastly, cause I have a sweet tooth -- I ordered dessert later that day. I figured they couldn't screw up the ice cream, as it does not need to be prepped or cleaned. I was wrong. The flour shell, the fried ice cream was served in was STALE and so was the dessert. I don't know where else you could eat in this town but do your self a favor and PASS. EPIC FAIL.

My husband and I ate there last night with some friends. He ordered a chicken dish, I had tamales. After getting back to the campground he said his stomach hurt. Not long after we went to bed he starting throwing up and was horribly sick all night. Our friend was also up with an upset stomach (he had chicken too). Obviously there are some food handling problems in the kitchen.

The food is decent, if your expectations are for quick, cheap, overly-plentiful Mexican. The service is friendly and brisk. The food comes out very quickly (so much so that I suspect a lot of it is pre-made). All in all, decent if you're after mediocre Mexican food.

WTF?! Every time I am on vacation I can't seem to get a good meal! And the meal is always overpriced! $72 for two ($38 for 4 margaritas)...ordered guacamole dip, which I wish they would have made table side. It was creamy and kinda bland. I had a 2 item combo with a chimichanga and taco. I wanted chicken for both but got some kind of ground beef in my chimi. It actually tasted like chili. My taco completely fell apart and the chicken was dry. My friend ordered seafood fajitas and he is still in the bathroom back at our hotel with violent diahrrea and puking. Need I say more? Service was pretty slow and unattentive. I'm considering bringing my own food next time I vacation...anywhere!

Veggie burrito is prepared not as printed in menu. In menu, it is supposed to come with grilled peppers and onions. Instead of peppers, it came with broccoli stems, cauliflower, and sliced carrots. It seemed as if they defrosted a bag of vegetable medley and put it in the burrito. Disappointed.

Good mexican food. Really deserves 5 for being in moab. Carne asada and a side chimichanga. The carne asada was dry and I was a bit disappointed that this was the raved about carne asada. I mean seriously, when everyone else is saying this is the best carne asade they've ever had and it comes out looking like a burnt dish rag you lose a bit of faith. However, our waiter (Manuel), brought another steak out to me since he noticed mine was dry. I didn't even say anything and he came out with it. That's great service right there.

The guy whom assisted us was nice as well. We ordered the fajitas. They were good but a bit greasy. Beware if it's your birthday. They will sing to you and smash whip cream in your face... also their must be a club upstairs because we could hear the music and stomping. Especially from the bathroom. Overall, it's a decent place. Not the best or worst I've seen.

LOVE this place. Hubby and I have come to regard it as "our place". We eat paleo/primal so sometimes have a hard time eating out. The shrimp dishes here are delicious and the portions are huge. We always order salad instead of rice and bean along with a couple of the best margaritas in town. The salad comes out on the warm plate with the shrimp so some parts of it are a bit warm, but that doesn't matter to us. It is still very tasty and we know we are making a special order. We are always treated with quick service and helpful attitudes. I have yet to see one of the employees there in anything but the best of moods. I suggest trying the shrimp dishes. YUM!!

Decent authentic Mexican food. Nothing special, but decent. Their margaritas are a little harsh, would be better with less lime. Very fast service, felt a little rushed. Servers were very nice though.

same review as 12 months ago, food is good, but too pricey for what you get. I like places in Moab that charge 'normal' prices and not gouging the tourists. think this was my last time coming here

  • M W.

Lotsa good food. I had a burrito that I should have shared. My friends DID share a burrito and had plenty. The food coming to the other tables looked and sounded (the fajitas) good. The margaritas were big, cold, and tasty. Loved sitting right out next to the street and watching the peeps go by. Service was very good. The bathrooms were Very Dirty - so, no 5 stars for you!

  • Susan B.

Rather than A-Ok, I'd say just OK. The chips and salsa they put on the table were terrible, not edible. My husband's meal was pretty bad - he had the chicken tostada and said it was mostly tasteless. On the plus side, the kids were quite happy with their tacos and I thought the arroz con pollo was good. The service was great and our waiter was charming and very accommodating to our kids requests and our meals came out super fast.

Ok here is the deal. Mexican has basic ingredients, and these dudes give you solid basic Mexican food and booze. They even speak the language and keep the place clean. They are quick and kind. Here is the but. The food should arrive hot! Especially Mexican food. The plates were hot, why not the food? Still good. A little pricy.

Ate here 2 nights in a row because, let's face it, we wanted margaritas. The first night we had a sullen waitstaff (What is it!?!?!), and the second night we had a pleasant server. The food was pretty good, so it'd say you should stop by and try it. Big margaritas and excellent salsa. I think we polished off 3 bowls each night.

Service was eh, food was inconsistent. First impression was DIRTY!! The place is dirty. The people were all very nice though and they do somehow even in a state of the worst liquor laws everywhere, have a mean Margarita. First time I went my chicken was totally different than the second time. I ordered the same thing and you would not even have known. While the second time the food was fabulous, the service still lagged....it must be a Moab thing....

I have spent quite a number of years visiting good Mexican restaurants; particularly, Tex-Mex. So, I know what good Mexican-American foods taste like. The nachos served at the beginning were hot and fresh. That is a really good sign. We ordered a family-style fajitas and their sampler appetitizer. It was alot of foods. On a scale of 1-10, their Fajitas is 7. It is above average but not the top. Appetitizer sampler is tasty and hit. Hot Mexican foods is always better than lukewarm ones. . Service receives a 4 star from me. The main waiter is attentive and the supporting bus-boys also helped out with serving and picking up empty dishes. I felt pampered and that is what service is all about. Well done, amigos!

I first ate here last fall while traveling through on a geology trip. Had a great experience that time so I went there on a Sunday evening (Mother's Day to be specific) for dinner while visiting Moab for a few days. Food was pretty good and the service was adequate. We got the chile con queso which was quite different than I'm used to. I'm not 100% sure about the type of cheese that they use, I think it's mainly cheddar. It was really stringy and lacked flavor other than the large chunks of jalepeno peppers. I ordered the seafood chimichanga ($12.99 if I recall correctly) just because it sounded interesting and I'd never had a chimi stuffed with scallops, octopus and prawns before. They (2 of them) came on a giant round plate with the beans and rice. The chimis were covered in a sour cream based sauce that lacked any real flavor. Definitely looked fantastic on the plate but just didn't pan out like I was hoping. One of my family members had the veggie fajitas. They were pretty good and cooked just right. My dad had some kind of burrito (I think) and my mom had a cheese and onion enchilada. Everything was presented with excellence but just lacked the pizzazz that you were hoping for. It's Moab though and the options there aren't fantastic. I'd probably go back to this place if I am back in Moab and needed somewhere to eat.

If your dinner is margaritas and chips then its ok. I ordered the veggie fajitas and got a bag of frozen veg heated up in a skillet. Nasty to say the least, I was glad the rice and beans were somewhat edible.(canned bean, dry rice)

Food was okay but the price was a little steep......friendly staff. But after I left this place I found myself with a severe case of food poisoning. I had the chicken mole and it tasted fine except the chicken wasn't that fresh. So I will never go here again!!!!!!!!!!

The dishes ordered came with stale rice that was unpalatable. These guys did a very good job of messing up black beans as well. In short, a complete disgrace. I'll never come here again.

One of the better Mexican restaurants in Moab. I had the carne asada which many Yelpers said was the best. I found it a bit tough, though nicely seasoned and cooked well. little guac on side, good salsa, bagged chips. Why does everyone serve bagged chips in this town? Kind of like a non-corporate Acapulco chain. Little better. Not much. Service was fast, helpful, and professional. Hear they have the best margarita in town. Want to dig deeper on the menu and see what else they have to offer. 4 stars due to my experience at another Mex joint in town that was bad. Prob a 2 or 3 in SoCal. I really like mexican food and this satisfies that hunger.

Fair warning, you will smell like Mexican food when you leave, but it's not bad considering you're in the middle of nowhere. Avoid the guacamole which smells like eggs but the shredded beef was pretty tasty and the margaritas are strong and sometimes that's all you really need.

At here twice last summer while passing through Utah. Decent food, decent service...good but not great. We ate here because it was across the street from where we were staying and that made it convenient. Definately not the best I've ever had, but OK in a pinch.

I stopped in with a few coworkers one evening for dinner. Overall there were good, bad, and odd aspects of this dining experience. We were greeted promptly by the hostess who was very polite and started to guide us to a table. Not more than a few steps in, another worker comes running up and asks "Do you guys like to party?". We were caught off guard and asked him to repeat the question, which he did. The hostess then sends the guy away and asks us to keep following her to the table. I now wonder if we missed a good opportunity to sit in the section featuring hookers and blow. After a short wait, a server comes to take our drink order. The first person in the party orders a margarita. The server then goes around the table basically pushing the same drink for all by asking/stating: "margarita ok for you?". When he gets to me, I answer no as I don't drink (much) and order an iced tea. The look on his face made it clear he was not happy with my order. (Can I say pissed off here on yelp?) I resigned myself to the fact I didn't make a new friend and hope the worse they do is spit in the food. As far as the food, it is Americanized Mexican. Not bad, but nothing spectacular as well. The chips and salsa were very tasty and served well in feeding our hunger while waiting for our orders. My dish was enchilada suisas and were not too far off from the real deal. The only thing wrong was the miniscule amount of the green sauce required for the dish. Overall, the food was fine and did its job of removing my hunger. There was nothing in particular that would make me say to avoid this place. If you like Mexican food that has been Americanized, then you can't go too wrong here. The menu is extensive, with some selections that come pretty close to authentic.

We came here after reading reviews (4 stars)from trip advisor. This place did not meet our expectations. Poor service, below average food and average portions. It is wel decorated, but if you're looking for tasty Mexican food, this is not the place. I will never go back again.

Ouch, I'm behind on postings. I drafted this on 7/12/11 after riding from Telluride in the pouring rain. Here's the original draft: Excellent pork carnitas and super guacamole. Margaritas were great, pricey but great! A great way to cap off a long afternoon in the rain, severe flooded roads, falling rocks, mud slides and sharp hairpin curves while in a downpour. Life doesn't get any better. Give them a try, you won't go wrong.

The tostada I ordered was soggy and cold. The shredded chicken was moist, but tasteless. The server was nice, but service was slow. The decorations were fun, but the looked run down. I didn't eat my meal, didn't ask for a takeout box, but might try this place again to see if they can do any better with anything else. Be careful if you decide to eat here.

Just bad. Really bad. I have eaten a lot of Mexican food in my life, being from So Cal , and I really love all types of Mexican food. And no, I'm not even all that picky about it for God's sake! I realize that Mexican food is like pizza...even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. But this is just bad, folks. What the heck are some of these reviewers thinking?? My husband was super hungry after a day out in Moab, so he opted for a little bit of everything in the form of a variety platter...rice, beans, a tamale, a chicken enchilada, and a beef tostada. I sampled a bite of each, and they all were pretty much greasy and tasteless. I opted for the fajitas, thinking it's a safe bet in most places. What I didn't opt for was the pool of oozy grease they were swimming in. Just gross. Bland and greasy. How can a place screw up chicken and veggies? I guess pretty easily. To be fair, the prices were good and the staff was fast and friendly. But GOD, this food sucks. Just BAD.

I give this place 2* asI wasn't that impressed. I ordered a shrimp plate and my hubs ordered a chicken enchilada. He gives it 2.5-3*. My shrimp was rotten and i had to return the dish. I then ordered a chicken dish. It was ok. Nothing special. Whenthe bill came, they didn't chg my order to reflect the replacement dish i had (which was a few dollars cheaper than theshirmp dish, which i had to return).

  • Reggie M.

Kind of disappointed. Service was good and cheery. Prices were a little high, for the quality of the bland food. Two types of salsa came with the chips - which was good. Ambience is a little too busy, beat up and dated. Not a big fan - but the weird thing is, I couldn't put my finger on why. I guess, what it boils down to is price/value ratio. If you're going to charge over $10 bucks in a Mexican restaurant for a basic meal - there's gotta be a "wow" (satisfied) factor. This didn't have it for us.

  • Jeff K.

Half decent food. Not the cleanest restaurant I've ever been in and that is troubling for me. It feels like the inside of an old motel room inside that could use a good powerwash. My wife and I had Encliladas a La Fiestas - flour tortillas with mixed beef and chicken fajitas onions and red and green peppers. Good, bit the red and green sauces on top were very weak and watered down. Seems like they had the margaritas figured out. Service level was good and attentive after a choppy start in which our table of 18 was told we could not have split checks and could not take over their party room. Overall, a 3 out of 5 stars - probably the best in Moab, although e have no basis for comparison other than our general disappointment with most restaurants serving bland, filling fare that was average at best.

I realize that not every restaurant can cater to special requests, but we felt terribly misled by everyone in this restaurant. Had they given us correct information at any point, we would have been happy to dine elsewhere. Since they misled us, I feel obligated to post this warning. We asked upon arrival whether the restaurant would be able to cater to a special dietary request (vegetarian) and were assured heartily that it would be no problem. The host pointed to a large section of the menu, implying that it contained many vegetarian choices. After being seated, we realized that the section of the menu that we though contained veg dishes actually was filled with beef and chicken dishes, with the occasional burrito or tostada thrown in. We asked our server whether the kitchen could prepare vegetarian meals, since we now realized the word "vegetarian" appeared nowhere on the menu. We were told that the rice was made with lard. (Why?!) One of their types of beans was made without lard, however, and they assured us that they could make us a satisfying meal that contained no animal products whatsoever. My husband ordered a plain vegetarian bean burrito with no meat or dairy, and of course no rice. Nonetheless, his meal arrived covered in cheese. My strictly vegetarian tostada arrived as ordered, but it was bland and disappointing, unlike the tasty & satisfying vegetarian tostadas I have had in countless other Mexican restaurants. To add insult to injury, although my tostada consisted of nothing more than a tortilla, lettuce, tomato, beans, and a teensy spoonful of guacamole, the waiter charged me for a "deluxe" tostada (which normally comes with meat, cheese, rice and sour cream - none of which did I ask to have on my tostada). He could have charged me for the far cheaper basic tostada, but I guess he figured we were tourists and we'd never be back anyway. At the end of the meal, we had a $45 bill, all for two lousy, overpriced, small plates of unsatisfying food and two margaritas. The margaritas, at least, were good.

Very authentic looking Mexican location. Truly hoped for something local and was disappointed to find out this place was a chain, however, once I saw they had a location in Mexico my hope were up again. This review perhaps is best done in bullet form: - While chips/salsa and water were filled constantly, was rather annoying to see a different waiter each time. The impression I had throughout the night is that they didnt have their service aspect together. - When ordering entrees, the waiter ran away before we could submit out appetizer order. Wish we didnt eventually flag down another waiter 10 minutes later as the dish came out at the same time as the entrees and was quite pitiful in size. - My entree size wise was also quite small. While the appearance suggested otherwise (low flat dish), there was less meat in my fajitas than I have ever received from the local Tex-Mex eatery back home in NJ. To be fair, the dish was quite tasty... however, I was still a bit hungry afterward. - Value wise, think we paid more than the fancier sit down Mexican joint in Sedona for less food. If it wasnt for the all you can eat salsa, the review would have been lower. In summary, its OK - I have had better. If in town, your better off going to the Moab Brewery instead.

Meh, it was adequate, average, I guess. Maybe good if it were in New Jersey, but ok considering it's in the Southwest. They seemed really disorganized, but then I realized that may have been intentional. No one waiter took care of one table, they were constantly rotating, and then the girl at the front dealt with all checks. I'm guessing this was more for tax purposes than order, but that's just a guess. The first guy who we thought was our waiter, ran away. Literally. While we were ordering. I was mid-sentence about to order an appetizer when he turned around and darted down the aisle. I tried to track him down, but 10 minutes later had not seen him again, so I asked another waiter (who brought the chips and salsa; and then later our food, and kept re-filling our water...maybe this guy is our waiter?) to tell him for us, so our hongos al ajo came out with our meal. Which was probably for the better since my meal was pretty bland. I did really enjoy the garlicy mushrooms although the dish could have been bigger. My meal was a tostada and an enchilada with rice and beans. The tostada had only beans and a couple of shreads of lettuce on it. Not a tomato or dollop of guacamole or sour cream in sight. Utterly bland, and half soggy. Half of it was soggy b/c it was sitting on top of the enchilada, so I suppose I can't really complain about that, but I was glad to put a couple of mushrooms and some salsa (which awesomely kept getting refilled :) )on it to make it taste like something. The enchilada was good. My boyfriends Chipotle beef looked awesome, it came on a gigantic plate and looked huge, though he tells me the plate was just for appearances, b/c the plate was incredibly flat there wasn't actually much food, but it looked to me like a lot. I left wanting something else, but I suppose it was adequate.

The best part about this restaurant is their chips and salsa. The entrees were lacking in taste and the portion size for their enchiladas is about half of what you would expect from a traditional sit-down Mexican restaurant.

GREAT place. Great clean food. Great price and fast and curtious service. Fun decor and music...Mexican festive. Great for any size group. Highly recommend when you are in Moab.

Great decor, staff was very friendly and attentive. Their menu was complete, had many mexican specialties that you only find at authentic Mexican restaurants. Food was served hot and everything was delicious. We ate chicken & steak fajitas, a shrimp & steak platter, and my 4 year old ate chicken tacos. Every dish was tasty and the portions were huge. It was a little on the pricey side, but the food and service made for a memorable evening and we will definitely return next time we're in Moab.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
