We stopped in this Sweet Tomatoes as the last stop of our vacation to Yellowstone. (We flew into and out of Salt Lake.) As expected the food and service were top notch. My Family loves this chain. While this is one of the "older" style stores, the food was top notch and the place was very clean.

I mean, it's a salad bar. There's a good selection at the salad bar and everything is really fresh. The only suggestion that I would have is more labeling on the salad bar so that you can really know what you're getting. The pasta selection is pretty average, along with the actual pasta itself. The soup bar is pretty average (can you see the theme here?) with it's options and the actual soup itself. The night I went, they were out of quite a few of the options. So I was able to have the Chicken and Alphabet soup. It was just like Campbells that you could make at home. The desert options were pretty good, they had brownies and chocolate chip muffins along with soft serve ice cream. That was probably the highlight of the food choices. There really isn't much service, but that's just how it is there. The bussers are really friendly and nice. All in all, this is a pretty average place, it is a really good place if you're on a restrictive diet though.

all the food is horrible. I am not going to explain every dish, the entire menu needs to be changed. I was literally spitting out food because of the taste, that was the first time I ever did that. this is also the first yelp review that I ever made, that's how bad it is. I guess I should point out that I'm not referring to the salad bar because anybody can have a nice salad bar sizzler chuck-a-rama and Golden Corral. Terrible pastas terrible soups terrible everything.

I've eaten here twice in the last month and it hasn't disappointed. There's something for everyone (especially vegetarians) - I like their soups and pastas, and their salad bar is great, well-stocked and with a nice variety. There is always enough seating space, compared to other buffets in the valley. Tables are promptly cleared while you go get more food, and staff is very friendly. A new favorite for my family! Kids enjoy the desserts too, and the environment is not too quiet and not too loud, staff keeps it nice and clean. Something worth mentioning is I love the strawberry lemonade!! You have to try it. Kids 2 and under eat free, and kids 3 - 7 (?) I believe is 3.99. DEAL!

I go to this place almost once a week and failed to mention it on Yelp. There is nothing better when you are trying to be healthy, than eating a nice, fresh, refreshing salad for under $10 bucks. Don't forget the 6 different soups, fresh baked potatoes, 3 fresh cooked pastas and bread/muffins. Salad and fixings are always fresh and restocked before they even get super low. The soups and pastas are cooked in small batches so they never get stale from sitting out too long. Sometimes the pastas are very boring and require salt or Parmesan cheese to wake up the flavor. The menu changes monthly, I am always checking the online menu to see what has changed. You can get very creative on your salad makings with so many ingredients to choose from. They also have dessert table with sugar free options or fresh fruit or you can just partake from the ice cream machine with the small cones and various toppings. I am always so full from filling up on the soups that I never make room. This place seems more organized and cleaner than the South Town location in Sandy. My only wish was that this place was organic, even for more money I would be willing to pay for it.

I generally like Sweet Tomatoes chain restaurants. This specific branch is not as big or as clean and new as some of the other Sweet Tomatoes restaurants I've dined at in California. However, for a buffet-style restaurant, I think it's a good option. I like the prepared salads. The pizza and pasta bar does not have as many options as I would have liked. The soups are hit or miss. Some (like the clam chowder) are always delicious. Others can be somewhat weird textured or not tasty. I come here when I want to take a longer drive and eat "healthy" at a chain restaurant.

No other restaurant will offer a larger salad selection. This particular one is not only fresh but staff keep it tidy. The side dishes: pasta, bakery, and soup is also good - there's typically 5 or 6 different kinds of soup. The seating is great. Plenty of room for big parties. Parking is also good. Only complaint is sometimes food items are not restocked in a timely manner.

I was hoping to finally find the perfect soup and salad place, but found Sweet Tomatoes to be sub par. The options on the salad bar were fresh and plentiful, but that's where the appeal ended. The soup options were pretty sad and in obvious need of a refresh. The focaccia breads were okay, but dry. I did enjoy the blue berry muffins, but that was the only non-mediocre part of the meal. I was also disappointed with the desert options, but at least there was a soft serve machine to keep me happy.

We really enjoyed the total atmosphere and selection of salads, soups, bread and pasta. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. We will definitely return again and again.

Great salad bar.. but Had a little different expectations otherwise. Had yelped for 'all u can eat'pizza place.. .. But unsure how this pulled.. There was no pizza at all here.. Some fochcia breads but no pizza.. Could use more 'fruit" selection on the fruit bar. Had lots of soups choices. Pasta bar was so so.. But I'm always a fan of soft serve ice-cream.. Had always wanted to try this place.. Now i know.. :)

So when you go to Sweet Tomatoes you know what you are going to get which is salad, soups, muffins, pastas, and a few other items and everything is usually pretty good. My wife and I enjoy going here when we want a meal that is not so heavy and there is a good assortment of items to choose from so it is usual pretty easy to put together a meal you will enjoy. Everything is self serve so you can build your salad exactly the way that you want it, I have found the ingredients to be fresh and well stock so if you are craving a salad it is not a bad place for a quick dinner. Until next time my fellow Yelpers .................... Be Local, Live Local, and whenever you can ............................ BUY Local!!!

The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is b/c I feel that the fruit bar and dessert bar is lacking. Other than that the salads are always fresh and the chicken noodle soup can't be beat. Prices have jumped a little. I paid $11.84 for my meal, which in my opinion is a little pricey for soup and salad. Great place to bring the family!

Top three reasons: 1. Salad is the foremost staple in your diet. 2. You aren't much of a meat eater. 3. You're a fan of buffets. So I finally tried this place out and it was just so-so. It has many salad options, a few bread options, and various soups. They also have three pasta options, one of which is mac & cheese so that doesn't count. The food all kinda tasted like cafeteria fare to me; passes when you're hungry but not very good. The focaccia (their fancy word for cheap-o jet pizza) tasted like something from Maverik gas stations, cheap dough with sparse toppings. The soups I tried were on par with anything canned from the store and were pretty salty. The best thing was the ice cream which surprised me because usually, buffets have bad soft serve mix. All in all, the price was too high considering how little meat they offered. Why not go to any other similar buffet in town if you're gonna pay the same and can get more meat? The decor was like a dining room of a retirement castle and there was a non-functional layout to the restaurant. The salad bar is removed from the dining area and you pay after piling the first salad on your tray. I felt like I was stealing when I went back over to grab food there. The drink section is on one end of the dining area and the soups and desserts way on the other. If you had to get up, ya had to make two or three stops before coming back. What is this, circuit training? Lame. I didn't come to a buffet to get exercise. This place will do the job if Granny's in town and wants to catch the Early Bird special, otherwise, PB&J trumps it.

As buffets go, Sweet Tomatoes is one of the better ones. I'm a soup AND mac & cheese hound, both of which Sweet Tomatoes has in spades. It's just personality that's lacking. Sweet Tomatoes is a salad buffet. This is apparent from the moment you walk in the door, when you're greeted by an enormous salad bar. You build your first course before paying, then seat yourself. The rest of the buffet is located along the back wall of the restaurant. It's not a big space, but there are several soups to choose from, as well as a baked potato bar and several breads, pastas, and desserts. For $12 at almost any comparable restaurant you would get better protein selection than what's being offered here. I'm not a very passionate carnivore, but it seems like Sweet Tomatoes is missing entrees. I would have loved to follow my soup and salad with some delicious fish or chicken. As it was, ice cream was a pretty okay consolation prize. The food is always passable, the service perfunctory. Check it out if you're in the area and feeling mild-to-medium hungry.

Have always loved coming here but stopped when I got celiac disease because the only choice was salad. Started coming back as GF menu is growing and was thrilled when coconut Gf muffins were offered. I came back a few weeks later only to find it was a January promotion. Sorry guys but celiac is not a seasonal disease. Would it kill you to keep a muffin and soup on the menu for us? I'd be here once a week if you did .

When I want a big salad for a workday lunch, I will sometimes hit up Sweet Tomatoes. While their salad bar is standard and unexceptional, it still works for a giant, healthy, inexpensive, and leafy meal. The truth is, I make an absolutely beautiful plate at a salad bar; perfectly balanced in variety, portion size, color, taste, and texture. My salad plates are works of art, and it's a joy for me to create them, and eat them. ST's salad bar gives me enough of a pallet to create something beautiful. I generally overeat at buffets, but this is not a problem at Sweet Tomatoes. That is because their soups are almost always poorly executed ,and their pastas are bland and tasteless. However, I must admit, their moist and flavorful cornbread is awesome. But in general, my props end at the reasonably priced, all you can eat salad bar.

I love Sweet Tomatoes. Since our town (heck, our whole dumb STATE!!) is sans-Sweet Tomatoes, I always check to see if the places we travel to have a Sweet Tomatoes. Thankfully, my dream came true on our recent visit out to the SLC area. This location was set up in the 'older' style (haha, look, I am like a Sweet Tomatoes aficionado) with the booths spread away from the buffet area. The salad selection was kept very neat and stocked well, and the current offer (strawberry season) offered a really great summer salad option, as well as fantastic strawberry buttermilk muffins). Great value.

No chowder!! I think I have reason to move back to California! Seriously, IM a big fan (literally) of this chain. With a coupon and arriving just before 4pm, I am able to eat well and fairly cheaply. The salad bar was well stocked and groomed, the pasta/bread section was equally as good in presentation. The dining room was really, really clean and the room attendents actually came by and refilled my water... Ive never had this happen before... The dessert bar has more topping choices than any other store which in a word was... SWEET. Yes, it is the little things like that and the music (classical, if you wanna know) made this an almost perfect visit. Why not perfect?? Why not 5 stars?? I was craving chowder. Seriously, Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation has some of the best chowder, IMO and that craving along with my truck drove me over to this location only to find they didnt have it on the buffet. Ill go back, no doubt, and hope that they have it upon my return.

I'm a big fan of this place but i love salad and soup! They also have a potato bar and pasta. Always very clean and the staff is very sweet. Sometimes the place feels like a playground so pick your times

Yummy food. Fresh food, usually the servers are on top of everything. I love their salads and their choices and prices are pretty good.

Overpriced salad and desert. They only have 3 pastas one of which is a terrible excuse for macaroni and cheese, while the other two are just as terrible. They let the pasta run out. I had to ask and then I was told one minute. And she went back to ignoring us and everyone else wanting food. A few minutes later she goes to another room and calls someone out. She finally makes some pasta. The noodles and sauce are already made so she just puts it in a pan and mixes it up. Somehow considered "fresh" the fruit bar had grapes, oranges, pudding and jello. Not what I would consider a" fruit bar". On the other hand the "waitress" was nice.

I've been going to this location for a few years now and I still like it. However, lately it has slipped in a few areas. The food is still delicious and the quality is very good, but in the salad bar I'm finding that the ingredients aren't being filled back up when they run out (went twice in a week and the spinach leaves were nearly empty both times - and when it wasn't busy, to boot). Same goes for the bakery section - at times, various focaccias run out too quickly. This location used to play nice classical music, but they've switched to pop / rock playing over the restaurant speakers. I dislike this. I like all kinds of music, but the classical music made for a good match with the healthy fare being eaten. The employees are very courteous and friendly.

I generally like Soupplantation, but something about this Sweet Tomatoes restaurant was off. I went here after a long day on the slopes and was starving. Everything here seemed off -- the food temperature, they were out of mixed greens, the soups were just -- off -- the bread wasn't good. Just nothing seemed good. It was just sad. Plain sad. First time in my life going to a Soupplantation/ST and felt gypped.

One of my favorite places for soup and salad. I love the salad bar with the many different topping choices. The prepared salads are also very good (Ceasar and wonton chicken). Soups can be good depending on what the theme is for the month. Classic favorites include the big chunk chicken noodle and chili. The breads and pizza sticks compliment the soups nicely. Yummy!

Another buffet. If you look back at my reviews I just posted one about Sizzler. A friend and I literally had a buffet circuit and this was part of it. It was good. Good soup, mac n cheese, salad. Again though, pretty typical buffet. Not going to wow you but you are there for a mass amount of food not quality. Looking at Jason F.'s review I have to agree, a deceptive salad bar for sure. Only reason I might go back is the bread. They had some damn good bread. Service: Good. Like 'em. Super efficient and quick getting empty plates away. I'd go if you want a buffet that won't make you feel like crap after. It is a very light meal.

This location is just south of Fort Union Blvd. It is part of a large chain of restaurants whose sister brand is called Souplplantation. There is ample parking available in the parking lot. The interior is nicely decorated and looks good. The restaurant is clearly targeted at families with children, which is okay. When you walk in you are greeted by what appears to be a very large salad bar. This is a bit deceptive. There really aren't that many choices for your salad compared to other places like Jason's deli. They have several pre-made salads to choose from. They serve Coke products for drinks. After you create your salad and pay there is another section of food which allows you to choose from soups, breads, and pastas. Let's talk about the food. I hope you like lemons! When we went here it was lemon month, meaning there were six dishes that featured lemons. I actually counted them to make sure. Lemon rice with cashews, Lemon mousse, Lemon Chicken Orzo soup, Lemon salad with spiced pecans, Lemon Creme pasta with capers, Lemon Lava Cake. The lemon mousse was absolutely terrible. We both hated it, a lot. I actually had to rinse my mouth out with water. None of the soups on the day we visited were spectacular. The presentation of the food is pretty good but much of it lacked flavor. Overall, the restaurant is nice if you want to get a salad but there are definitely less expensive options if you don't want food from the other stations.

Sweet Tomatoes/Souplanation in Midvale exceeded my wife and my expectations. It had nearly everything you can think of to top a salad with, everything was fresh and tasty, and the price was definitely right. This place is *almost* everything we hoped for in a salad buffet. The only thing we missed was meat to top our salads with. We were hoping they'd have some freshly grilled chicken or steak to put on our salads, but no such luck. Heck, we'd even be willing to pay another couple dollars to be able to have some tasty meat on our salad. Oh, and the strawberry lemonade was incredible! The best I've ever had! We'll definitely be back. We enjoyed the salad buffet part of the restaurant so much that we overlooked leaving room to try the bakery, soup, and desserts aspect of Sweet Tomatoes. Anyway, for what it's worth we were thrilled and totally enjoyed our salads and our time here. The service was fast and helpful. My wife spilled a glass of water on our table and almost immediately one of their employees appeared to wipe up for us. Fantastic.

I love Sweet Tomatoes. Yeah, i know its a chain, but i love it anyway. Fresh salads, decent breads and baked goods, tasty soups (don't miss the lentil - its to die for), with breadsticks kinda like pizza, and freshly made pastas. I can always count on this place for some good fresh greens and decent soup. Then add in the little square warm, cornbread loaves made with corn kernals, and little warm, square brownie loaves, and you got me. Yes, Elizabeth, I think there is also jello, as there should be. Tip: avoid Friday or Saturday nights (or afternoons) when the huge families come out.
