We visited SmashBurger at 7020 S. Union Park. And have eaten there several times. And for food that is priced higher than most burger places you would expect at least a small step up in customer service. We have never experienced exceptional customer service at this restaurant. And I know the importance of taking customer service to the next level, as I work in the food industry. The importance of making the customer your number one priority is absolute priority. You must go above and beyond not only the first time but every time to give the best service. However my experience today is like so many visits before leaving me feeling like another customer they could careless about. After clearly stating that with my two kids meals that we wanted the rosemary fries. And again clarifying that the kids meals would have the rosemary fries two additional times before leaving the register. I assumed it would be done correctly. Then after receiving the plain fries in the kids meals and asking for it to be corrected, they took the entire meal back and instead of simply giving us new fries with rosemary, they took the remaining fries out from our meals and soaked them with oil maybe doing them in oil and added rosemary seasoning. Then returned fries that were cold, soggy with oil and only the old fries. In my experience better food establishments would simply have given new fresh fries with the rosemary seasoning added when they were fresh not re-oiled fries that were greasy and cold. This is a common attitude we receive as customers at this restaurant. Not sure we will be returning again.

Love that goat cheese on the burger. Can't go wrong here for quality of the food.

Good thing my wife likes this place so much. Burgers are decent...tonight was actually pretty good. Fries are acceptable but...BUT their $4 hagen daaz shakes have suddenly been smaller than before. Their sidecar cup has only a few spoonfuls whereas in the past it was 30-50% full.

Tweaker cashier needs to give me time to read the menu. Burgers can use some improvement.

Way over priced and they have no idea how to make a protein burger. Go to the habit. Better food, better price

I really love the Sides and selection options of the SmashBurger franchise, but i dont care much for the taste of their meat/ burgers. It is bland and dry, and there are tons of better burgers out there. If i could make the perfect hybrid it would be the options and sides of Smashburger with the burger patties of 5 Guys, their meat is WAY more juicey and tasty. That being said the service is typically pretty good but nothing amazin, the haystack onions are delicious, the smash fries are awesome, but i recently tried the new buffalo fries which were not very good and not a bit spicey, they just tasted super salty with a hint of buffalo flavor. On my most recent trip i tried the new (i think) "Windy City Burger" which was pretty lame it was just a burger with some onions and brown mustard, pretty original! you really have to make your own, or find a secret menu item to get a really tasty burger, especially since the meat cant stand on its own. Thus far my favorite canned menu item would have to be the Beehive burger which is like a BBQ bacon burger. In the past they had AWESOME blackbean burgers, i mean seriously me a fat, meat lover would order this thing over any other form of meat because it was amazing! it was tasty crisp, had a good bite to it and didnt just mush or fall appart. Sadly i moved away for several years and upon coming back to UT i have since tried the Blackbean burger at multiple locations and it is NO GOOD, it is just like they took canned beans, threw them in a food processor with a pinch of salt then put thim on the grill. It is mushy, messy bland and just sad. My wife did order one at this sandy location recently and it actually was okay, but nowhere near what it was a couple years ago. Worst of all i HIGHLY recommended this blackbean burger to many people not knowing the quality went way down, and now none of them trust my food judgement anymore. both said they felt like they were eating "babyfood slopped on a bun"

This Smashburger was a pretty big letdown. The other two locations I frequent, Sugarhouse and West Valley, are much better than this one. First, the place was not clean at all. There was paper, lost fries and even veggies on the floor, tables that had messes all over them and the bathroom looked like a crime scene. Now for the food, I am a really big fan of the Beehive burger, but the patty was so over-salted that you HAD to have ketchup or something else sweet to even out the flavor and burning sensation. I was not alone in this as well, my girlfriends burger was so salty she couldn't even finish it. Like I said, I've never experienced something like this from Smashburger before, so I was taken aback. Their fries were good, as usual and the shake was really solid too. I also really like how they're one of the only "Quick Food" places that has Vitamin Water in leau of soda. Like I said, this might have been a one off and I will go back to see if it was, but at least this time I was very underwhelmed.

We went to Smashburger in brand-new opening Fort-Union store today. My humbugger was very fresh. Not like other fast food restaurant frozen patties. Very flavorful and bun was soft! French flies are a little too thin and got cold too quick though.. My wife got Smash Chicken with spicy jalapeño baja. She said that was great!! Jess was server and she was so friendly and she even came to clean up after. Store is very clean. We will be back :)

Always really liked SmashBurger and this location didn't disappoint. I liked the openness of the floor plan and seating. Fast prompt service and fresh food. Tried the Spicy Jalapeño Baja, and as always the sweet potato fries. Great flavor and left me wanting more. I'm glad I found this location while driving around. *As for a picture of a Mormon temple on the wall, I don't mind. It's a MAJOR part of Utah's history and is a staple of living here in SLC, I mean it's on a wall that has a bunch of stuff that "makes" Utah. I think it's funny how people get "offended" by something so trivial.

Ordered the Beehive Burger and it was prepared nicely. The patty was cooked just right the Rosemary fries were perfect and the kids meal was also prepared well. This location looses points in the cleanliness department. The bathroom was horrible dirty and not maintained in oh say a week. I feel cleanliness is a good reason to not come back. Can't care for the public areas what does that say about the kitchen?

My second visit to this location, same great burgers, same nice employees and very clean!

Was this joint named so because when the HULK ate here he uttered for the first time those immortal words, "HULK SMASH!"? Probably not. This food is too sad to generate a hulking response. Actually, they should rebrand as Quashburger, because what we received served only to deaden our emotions and deflate our appetites until eating became a flavorless ritual in forced chewing. We ordered a classic smashburger as well as a classic with the black bean patty. We evidently forgot to order flavor, and in the case of the veggie burger we also left out texture. I suppose the fries are decent, but their unnecessarily thin cut just adds another layer of frustration to an already depressing dining experience. If you asked me to rank The Habit, Five Guys, and Smashburger, I'd rank Smashburger 4th and award 3rd place to "no thanks, I think there's a granola bar in the glove compartment."

Awesome food! Everything here from the fried pickles to the amazing mouth watering burgers, just awesome. I also tried the butter butter shake today and it was incredible also.

3 stars just because they serve burgers right? I mean.. it's a great meal, can't really go wrong with a burger. It's just this location is always dirty. Fries on the floors, tables not wiped, glass all smeared and sad. You have to wonder when you see a dirty front of house; what's going on in the back? I made my own burger, added an egg, it was nice. Under-seasoned, but there's salt and pepper at the table. The fries are just too damned small. They taste nice with the rosemary, just hard to eat. The meat tasted fresh, the toppings were fresh and crisp. Just not miraculous.

I don't want to give this place 3 stars. I really don't. I say that because I really want to give it 5. I love burgers. If I could eat burgers everyday for the rest of my life without having a heart attack, I undoubtedly would. But Smash Burger is just okay. It doesn't jump out or make me want to go back over and over. It does have a nice selection of burgers and chicken. I love the fact that you can choose 2 sizes of burger. And I also appreciate the quality of ingredients. I've been several times and always had fresh cut avocado and high quality tomatoes... thats not something you get everywhere. The chicken is pretty good, but it's nothing special. Saving grace are definitely the fries. I am a fry kinda guy and this place does them well!

Really good fresh burgers and chicken sandwiches. It's a little pricy for what it is, but it always tastes great. And you know your food is made fresh to order because it doesn't come out 30 seconds after you order it.

The food is great. But I am sadden and disappointed that they still use HIGH FRUTOSE CORN SYRUP in the ketchup! This sweeter is linked to a higher incidence of diabetes! Why does their corporate officers fail to see that this is a major concern for consumers today? Look at what other places are doing to have only healthy ingredients in their food. And look at how successful they are! If this does not change we will just rely on Tony's Hamburgers. They are more concerned with the products they serve. Smashburger! Don't go on the dead end path that McDonalds is on. Be more aware of your ingredients!

Some of the tastiest, juiciest burgers & grilled chicken around. Their burgers are in my Top 3, but I still love going healthier and getting the grilled chicken sandwiches w/ Udi's gluten free bun. If you like spicy, try the Spicy Jalapeño Baja. Ohh my hell, almost forgot to mention their sweet potato fries and the Smash Fries w/ olive oil and rosemary!! If you've never been here, you must... now!

Food was great, restaurant was filthy. There was 3 people on staff, and 4 customers. Others that came through before we left seemed equally Un impressed, as they didn't have a single clean table. To their credit, the staff was pleasant and my burger was good.

Great burger place, one of the many within like one block of the area including in-n-out and five guys. It's kind of awkward to get to, I went around by five guys thinking I could access it but alas, no such luck. I just parked on the other side, just west of the smashburger in the kind of darker parking lot. So I got the classic regular burger with cheddar instead of gross processed American cheese. Free of charge. $4.99 I think for the burger. It was good, fresh vegetables and good size patty. Tomato, lettuce, and pickles were good. Tomato was crisp as were the pickles. Definitely not a McDonald's or Wendy's patty. They use egg buns, which I don't know what that is, but it was delicious. It was soft, but not too soft, I don't know but it was like almost a perfect hamburger bun. Friend got the Smash Fries which were decent, but too skinny. I want good size fries. Seasoned well, but just weird they were so skinny. Fry sauce was good, though I'm not a big fry sauce guy. The cashier girl was very friendly and surprisingly gave us the regular soda cup for water. Overall I'd come back, I wasn't blown away but it was still a good burger to change things up.

I walk in and can tell its Mormon operated and proudly so cause of the pictures on the wall. I dont feel as welcome here as i would else where. The shakes were good and so were the fries. I got the spicy jalapeno baja burger and i couldn't even find the guacamole on it. It didnt have any taste of what i would expect of a texmex style of burger. I tasted a regular burger and nothing more. The tomatoes looked pale and old as well. I could see myself coming here to revise this in the future but definitely not a first choice or second.

The guy that was working the register was a real dick he didn't help me out! first time here the customer service is crap. I asked him what most people get he just pointed to the bored. And I asked him for ranch because I was taking to go says oh it's in there and then when I finally check it's not in there. he's like well I put it in there. Obviously you didn't. thanks! I just got my burger unwrapped and it's the wrong one!!!! Asked for a mushroom Swiss and they made me a veg. Burger or something like that!!! I don't know how they messed this up. When my wife goes she loves it. But im never going to let her get food from here again!

I wouldn't know if their food is good or not because as soon as we walked in there was a big picture of a Mormon temple on the wall. I get enough of that living in Utah, I don't need my burger joint to push it as well. No thank you and we walked across the parking lot to 5 Guys.

Went to Smashburger for my first time today for lunch. I was really impressed, the meat was very fresh tasting and not greasy at all. I don't know how they make their buns but the egg bun was sooo good. Get the smashfries, I ordered the sweet potato fries (which were good) but regretted it once I tasted my coworkers smash fries. The order taker was very attentive when bagging my orders (I had a large order for the office), I watched as she dutifully put ketchup, sauce and napkins in each bag. I really like that they separate all the orders in separate bags as well, makes it super easy when ordering for multiple people. Will definitely go back again, good food and service.

WHY IS THERE NO PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP IN THIS PLACE?!? It's unforgivably FILTHY & it makes me sad because the burgers are so yummy. The place smelled like a dirty rag when we walked in. Food and trash ALL over the floor, no clean tables, drink area sticky wet mess, trash area overflowing & disgusting. We were there at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, 2 other customers in the place so it wasn't rush hour. Where is the franchise owner? I've had the exact same experience at the Draper location.

It's a good burger. I had the BBQ burger with onion strings. Barely any onion strings and the burger was a bit dry. There are do many choices it would be tough to return.

Smashburger is an above average burger joint, better than most, but not as good as the really great burger joints. I tried Smashburger for the first time in Las Vegas about five years ago and just never ended up going back until last night, I remembered it being good and during this visit, it was good. If I am really needing a burger fix I am heading to Salt City Burger which is my personal favorite but if I could not get to Salt City Burger, Smashburger would work in a pinch. I really enjoy their shoestring style french fries and the ones tossed in rosemary are very, very, good. It was good food and I will be back. Until next time fellow Yelpers .................... Highlights: root beer float and the side of chipotle mayo I got with my regular fries (not Smash Fries). Great thing about the root beer float is the IBC rootbeer comes on the side which gives you the freedom to have a whole half bottle of rootbeer with your meal, and a delicious float at the end. The Beehive Burger was pretty good but not as good as the one I had at the Elite event.

Smashburger has great, friendly staff and even better food! I've tried all but two of their burgers and I'd have difficulty picking my favorite, but the avocado club chicken, the beehive burger, and the truffle mushroom swiss burger are definitely all worth trying! Their fries are pretty bomb too, thin and crispy! Also, do try the sweet potato fries. Not everyone can make edible sweet potato fries, but Smashburger certainly has it down pat!

    I. love. Smashburger. I reviewed the Orem location, but there was a Yelp Elite event at the Midvale restaurant and I just have to give a shoutout to their awesome staff and superb kitchen workers! All the food was delicious despite having to get it out quickly and en masse, and all the workers were very friendly. Thanks for a great night, Midvale Smashburger!

Well not really a fan of chain places other than in n out burger. But this place is exceptional. Everything from the ambiance of the restaurant to the amazing fries that they make. (Make sure you get the smash fries, especially if you like rosemary fries) The burgers taste fresh and everything on the menu is made from scratch. Gotta give this place some love because they almost stole my heart.

Sometimes only a burger will do and smash burger definitely gives you that burger. They are fresh and juicy and really satisfy that craving. The Beehive burger (with BBQ sauce and crispy onion straws on top) is delicious but I also like the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger. Their sweet potato fries and smash fries (with rosemary and garlic) are definitely a must as well. The Ft. Union location recently opened and it is more spacious, clean and nicely decorated than some of the other locations I have been to. It is great and easy to turn into right off of I-215 and Ft. Union (while it looks like it is tricky to get to, it isn't, you just enter straight through the light heading south). The only bad thing about this location was the drink station. Being right by the server station and the kitchen door, servers were coming in and out and taking orders and trays right over people's heads while they were standing in line to get a drink. Not the best positioning but maybe it's not an issue when it isn't as busy. Definitely one of my favorite places for a tasty burger.

To be fair we didn't eat HERE but that's because after waiting 30+ minutes for 1 burger we asked for a refund. We did, however, end up eating at another smash burger during our cross country trip and no, these burgers are not worth a 30+ minute wait or $6-7 (plus $2.29 for fries). Save your time and/or money and head to your nearest Hardee's or Carl's Jr. for a better burger that will come out at a predictable speed. Sorry. Just not a well-run establishment here in Midvale.

My fav burger place so far!! A little pricey but if you do the survey on the receipt you can get free fries and a lot of times they will change your fries to any of the other sides. I love how they add rosemary to the fries! The onions and sauce is amazing! A reg size burger is big enough. Very very good customer service!

Burgers were amazing and the chicken sandwiches were just as tasty. My favorite is the truffle mushroom Swiss burger, the burger was juicy and full of flavor.
