For years I have heard told tales of The Popeyes Chicken. People from the south are quick to Poo-Poo the Colonel with claims that whatever he thinks he's got, it ain't nothing when placed up against old Poppy. So when they finally opened a Popeyes that was within 20 minutes of my home, I decided to go see what the big fuss was about. I still don't see what the fuss is about. It would be one thing if Popeyes was maybe not as great as KFC, but cheaper. I am willing to sacrifice a little quality if you are charging less. Conversely, I am willing to pay a little bit more if the quality or quantity feels on par. This was not the case in either regard for Popeyes. Unfortunately, I found it both overpriced and underwhelming both in terms or quality and quantity. I realize it's fast casual dinning, so I truly went into it with no expectations, but even that didn't save me from feeling like both my stomach and my wallet were cheated. Who knows, maybe Popeye does a better job in his home state, or maybe people there just hate the Colonel...

This location is really hit or miss. Been here a few times, and will probably return just for change, but maybe not all that often. You just never know if you are going to walk into a clean location or not. The last time we ate here every single table was a mess, and there were several employees doing absolutely nothing. The time before, it was busy but very clean, so you just never really know what you will walk into. The food is almost always good, and it is a change from other fast food chicken places, but most of these fast food chicken places all tend to have whipped quick potatoes, I do not believe any of them peel and mash their own, they all seem to be from the same box, but their gravy is good, in small amounts. I do enjoy their chicken fingers though, so on occasion, it is worth it. Also, I really hope they don't use the seasonings that are in the jars out in the open because anyone can open the lids and contaminate them.

Look here, when it's good, it's good. Though my doctor might not share my enthusiasm, I am overwhelmed with joy that this fast food staple has made it to within driving distance of my belly. I am enamoured with the red beans and rice. Too much flavor for a styrofoam cup. The chicken strips are powerfully marinated and perfectly fried. Don't get me started on the mashed and gravy. How did the colonel become known as the chicken guy when the spinach eating muscleman is obviously the king? If you're looking to shorten your lifespan, might I recommend the sweet tea? Better than mom ever made. (she never made it) It's as expensive as some sit down places, but the quality of the chicken is also probably as good if not better than some sit down joints. I am unabashedly a fan and will continue to be. Also, I think that I can justify eating at this national chain because the franchisee is local.

We had such a wonderful experience with an employee named Evan. He was so sweet to our six year old. He gave him beads and a balloon in his favorite color purple. We've also never been to a fast food restaurant other then chik fil a that clears your table for you. 5 stars Evan.

Burnt tiny pieces of mutated mini chicken legs. Dumb staff (didn't know how many biscuits was in a dozen). Everytime, literally, EVERYTIME (5 times since grand opening) i've been here, they forget something in the order, or they get the order wrong. This franchise should be completely restaffed immediately, or I fear for it's future. I created this Yelp account specifically to rant about this location. Absolutely horrible.

I had the shrimp and fries combo. The fries were cold enough it turned starchy and hard to swallow, like if you ate refrigerated fry. One fry smelled weird, sour or rancid right as I bit into it. I wondered how many I ate and thought "oh great, here comes the food poisoning." I spit it out and stopped eating. Shrimp was meh. Too much batter. My husband and I actually ended up sick by the time we got home and into the next afternoon. He shared my fries with me, so I'm sure they were bad. Cassi was the cashier. She was super cute and friendly .

Bad...all bad! Ordered a 12 piece, it was basically burnt. (So freakin annoying!) Also ordered an 8 piece spicy tenders. They were cold and only 2 of them were spicy...REALLY? Biscuits were burnt also. Save yourself the hassle and go to the one in Lehi. The one in West Jordan didn't even give me my full order. So far quality sucks!

So this place just opened up near the Winco I shop at, and I've gone a couple times after dealing with grocery shopping, and it hit the spot. I had never eaten at a Popeyes before, and I really liked it, as much as I can like a fast food place. Cajun spices on pretty much everything, generic McDonalds looking sauce containers, but good flavors and decent cooking of the chicken. I won't go out of my way to go here, but maybe hit it up once and a while after shopping.

I love fried chicken! I've eaten it all over the place, but no one does it better than Popeye's. Their spicy fried chicken is absolutely unbeatable. Their sides are also pretty good as far as fast food goes. Their biscuits are excellent, and I love their red beans and rice. The prices are reasonable, and I always leave full. I was extremely excited when this location opened last year, since I live pretty close. I go there at least once a month. It's also nice that it's right by Winco. I'm sorry to see that some people have experienced poor customer service at this location. I've never had a problem there. Sometimes it may be a little messy, but that's usually only when they're extremely busy. That's just the nature of the beast. It never stays messy for long, though. Anyway, to sum up: Excellent food, great service, perfect location. I can't wait to go back!

After going to the Popeyes regularly up at Hill AFB for the past few years, I was glad they have one closer to home in Midvale now. The initial craze had die down here, and there should be less chance you will get run over in parking lot, but you will still find cars going opposite direction on the 1 way road though. Compared to the other locations, this one has two freestyle coke machines, while the one on base does not. Quality of the chicken seems a bit off here, maybe the staff did not enough training here yet. The breading can be very inconsistence at times, while the ones I had at other Popeyes locations were much better. Service can be troubling sometime as well, since the tables were not always clean here and there were yelling in the kitchens. Not sure if it was the attitude or just penny pinching, but other locations usually throw in extra pieces for you as compensation when they are late on something, this one just tried to shove different item to you when they ran out of something. Not an ideal location for your first Popeyes experience.

I am a fan of this place for sure!! I love me some fried chicken people!! I know this is not like something yo mama makes, but it is pretty good for fast food. Their food is always good, and spicy enough for me. I really enjoy their fries and their biscuits are pretty tasty and buttery.

I just popped my Popeye's virginity. I never had it before. Be honest, it is pretty food for a fast food fried chicken. My favorite is spicy fried chicken. I like my chicken with bones. The outside is always crispy and inside is pretty juicy unless it is chicken breast. Side dishes and drink: - Mash potato: much better than the KFC ! - Coleslaw: there is green onions in it, so no thank you! lol - Ice tea: since I do not drink soda, I like a nice Popeye's unsweet ice tea with my combo. - Corn: Tasteless! Service: It is a fast-food restaurant and they just opened, I can't really blame them for being forgetful and doesn't know the ingredients. I will drop by once a while if I am craving fried chicken.

Eh, honestly not the greatest chicken I've had. I ordered the 3 piece chicken meal with a side of fries and a biscuit. Let's dissect this, shall we? The chicken: Too breaded and fried, not enough chicken. The only flavor came from the dipping sauce, BBQ, that was the tastiest part about the whole meal. The fries: Limp and cold, darn it. I was craving some good, crispy fries. It was almost like my meal flipped--I had crunchy, hard, bread (with a little bit of chicken) and mushy fries. The biscuit: Okay, that was actually pretty good. Once I got home and put some of my own butter and honey on it. I wish I would've warmed it up more, but by then I was practically starving and was willing to buckle down and eat anyways. On the plus side, the employees did their best to make us happy. Unfortunately their kindness couldn't make up for the food. TIPS & TRICKS: * If I had to go back, I would try the "naked" chicken. It's not breaded, but grilled and looked a lot better. * Their drink machine was nice, it's one of those machines that look like something from Back to the Future, and offers plenty of choices.

I really enjoy going to this location, the workers are pretty friendly and if they make a mistake on your order, they are always more than willing to fix it. There has only been once or twice where the chicken tenders were a little overcooked but you can just ask for tenders. The spicy chicken tenders is always what I get here.

The Tear'n Tenderloin LTOs were pretty great. The highlight was the spicy Cajun garlic sauce. Enjoyed the cajun fries and the biscuit was salty and buttery beyond belief. Depending on the day, that can be a good or a bad thing. Once again, they're in the Honeymoon Phase of their Grand Opening which really serves as a positive mood enhancer.

This is the messiest most unorganized Popeyes ever my first time and I was unimpressed. The tables were dirty the garbage over filled. Dry chicken no bueno!!!

Good food for fast food. Taste good, but the chicken is small plus just like everywhere else around that sells chicken like KFC you dont really get much for your money anymore. I'd recommend their chicken strips over wings or thighs etc. cuz you get more & not as dry.

Mmmmmmm. I love me some Popeyes. Late at night, roll up for some spicy chicken tenders and mac n cheese ... It just hits the spot. Comfort good at it's finest. It's extra good because it's different than most fast food joints in utah as well. We've been here a few times now and this location seems to have great service and they get you sat and fed quickly.

Horrible horrible place. Every drink has pepper spices embedded into it, the food is ok, If the teenager texting during your order can get it right. At first was excited about this place, but truthfully I'd rather starve over eating here again.

The biscuits were tender buttery melty goodness in your mouth. However the chicken was ordinary and the prices were outrageous. Rather go somewhere else for chicken. Sorry.

This is the worst popeyes I've ever been to. They always forget half my order. The people who there are never in a good mood and are so scarce with everything. Will be going to a different popeyes from now on.

I really like the monthly specials at this location. And I enjoy the taste of the food. Today they did not have honey for the biscuits. And many of the customers had to clean the table area by themselves. I noticed that one customer had to kick small piece of food off the floor near their table. And many of the tables were not cleaned with some small crumbs on the tables. In my opinion this place could be 5 stars out of 5 stars if more details were done by the staff at this location.

This location is an embarrassment to the Popeye's name. I grew up in Louisiana and frequented several Popeye's locations in the area. I was so stoked to finally have one near me. Well not anymore. My family and I visited shortly after it opened and the experience was awesome. Just like being back at home. We've visited at least 4 times after and it has gotten progressively worse with every visit. Each time never getting my order right, leaving out at least one piece of chicken out of a 2 piece meal. This time started with the cashier being rude and blatantly ignoring my one year old when he smiled and waved at her. Not a huge deal, but still. We also asked her how her night was going and she said "boring". She gave us our ticket and we sat down waiting for our number... our food was waiting on the counter for quite awhile without anything being said. When my husband went up to check she pointed at a tray and said "that's yours". I ordered mild tenders. I got one fresh spicy tender and three hard, cold mild tenders. My husbands order was fine. Then I run to the restroom. No toilet paper. But hanging above the paper were some loose toilet seat covers. Is that supposed to suffice as toilet paper? Also, the toilet doesn't flush. At all. I'm assuming from several people using whatever they have on them as toilet paper? I come out and several employees appear to be having dinner together and just stare as I walk by. The manager sulks around the nearly empty restaurant and acts like the customers don't exist. Maybe teaching these people to smile wouldn't hurt. I might also mention it was only 7:30pm, not like it was closing time or even close to it. Still not an excuse to act like your well behaved and non complaining customers like they're a bother. And we had plenty to complain about. The end.

Smashed taters were odd. Hot wings were gross. The only thing that was good was the chicken. Its very simular to Church's chicken. Oh and the biscuits were way too salty. If I ever come back it will be for the chicken only and only if I ever have a craving for Church's chicken.

My wife and I saw this place from the road out front and decided to try it. We had never eaten at a Popeyes. The parking lot is a bit small and when you pull in a little confusing as to whether you are in the drive up lane or in the parking lot. You can park in the field to the north if the lot is full. Here are my thoughts: 1. The price board behind the counter is active and changes information while you stare at it. I find that confusing. 2. My wife had the 3 piece chicken tenders with coleslaw and a biscuit. She enjoyed it although the biscuit was a little dry. 3. I ordered something called a shrimp tackle box from a sign I saw in the window. While trying to see it on the changing sign I mentioned the word combo for some reason and I think I messed the order up. I ended up with shrimp and a side of beans and rice and a biscuit. The sign showed that it came with fries. The shrimp were very tasty and slightly sweet. There were only two beans in my little tub of beans and rice. 4. Both our meals were a fairly small orders. If you are a big eater these would look like an appetizer. 5. With two drinks our bill came to $14.00 which I thought was reasonable. 6. I visited the men's restroom and found the towel rack empty. They did have some paper towels laying on the sink that were already wet from overspray. Why not just put them in the dispenser?

Best service ever at a Popeyes tonight. It was raining outside so they had employees w/ umbrellas out in the parking lot escorting guests into the restaurant under the umbrellas. That was a first for me. Very impressive. This was the 2nd time we are at this location and the food was perfect both times. We love the spicy chicken tenders and naked chicken tenders. The buttery and salty biscuits are out of this world. All in all, for a fast food restaurant, we couldn't have been more impressed. We will be back... soon!

My chicken was dry, so I was unimpressed, but the sauces seemed to compensate a little.

I'm here now eating and not impressed at all. I give 1 star because I will never come back. The mild chicken tenders have no flavor, so you have to drown them in cheap, peel back, processed Ranch, Buffalo or BBQ sauces. The coleslaw is terrible and the biscuit must have been frozen, looks assembly line made. For fried chicken sandwiches or tenders, I'm sticking with Chik Fil A which is far superior. Oh, I also found a small, sharp chicken bone in one of the tenders... Which made it not so tender. "Crunch, ow, blech. "
